HUFFS I’M SO INTO MY OCS RN THANK YOU FOR ASKING ABOUT MY SPECIAL BOY
Sunny’s the medicine cat of NightClan and his sister is Marshclaw who belongs to @bootlegtaako!! He’s like Leafpool in the sense that he’s always known he wanted to be a medicine cat and has a strong connection to StarClan. His mentor, Owlwing died like a week after his medicine cat ceremony, so he was kinda thrown into being the sole medicine cat right away and feels a lot of pressure because of it. So he’s always second guessing himself.
He and Marshclaw are really close and support each other a lot bc they’re both very young cats in leadership positions (Marshclaw is deputy), and Fogstar is a very blunt and cold old man and doesnt give them much support or reassurance.
But Sunny really REALLY loves what he does! He gets so excited talking about herbs and lore and the connections the clan has to StarClan–it’s the one time his quiet, anxious mask comes off and he’s super talkative and excited and animated and happy!
So yah he spends a lot of time on his own and tending to his plants. (He talks to his plants all the time when he’s alone :D)
And then Grumble comes in when he finds him hurt on his territory. (NightClan has big cliffs bordering their territory, so Grum fell off those and broke his everything) So Sun drags him into one of the caves along the cliffs and nurses him back to health and they fall for each other and Grum continues to meet him even after he’s all better. :)
But then Bad Things happen and Sunny has a rough time
We were all rather low-energy and dispirited this Monday, not for any particular reason, but just because it’s Monday. But, as we were reviewing more materials from the Jerry Buff donation we came across these endpapers from Edward M Catich’s 1972 publication Reed, Pen, & Brush Alphabets for writing and lettering, printed by Catich at his Cafish Press on the campus of St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa.
At first we just saw it as an intriguingly intricate pattern in pastel colors, but as our eyes focused more closely on the pattern we found that it was brimming with these delightful owls! Discovering these owls gave us a pick-me-up, and we feel more energetic and are no longer dispirited. Thank you, motivating owls!!
We’ll be highlighting some of Edward Catich’s letter forms on Typography Tuesday.
