Looks like America will be having Bloomin’ Onions at Outback!

In the 30th Outback Bowl, #23 Tennesssee obliterated #13 Northwestern, 45-6.

The Vols put up 28 points in the second half; the final TD of the game was a 100-yard interception return by Evan Berry.

It was a true team effort from Rocky Top!

Lesser Bowl Previews (January 1)

Happy New Year! It’s 2016 and we have some bowl games to watch! There are some great games out today, three of them part of the New Years Six. Let’s look at the other two first.

Outback Bowl
#13 Northwestern 10-2 (6-2) vs #23 Tennessee 8-4 (5-3)

This is a curious matchup. Both teams were the runners up in their respective conference’s weaker division. Draw from that what you will. I’d try to sell you on this game but you probably already know if you’re going to watch this one or not.

Citrus Bowl
#19 Florida 10-3 (7-1) vs #14 Michigan 9-3 (6-2)

Another Big Ten-SEC matchup. Jims Harbaugh and McElwain had about as good a first year as you can ask for as a head coach. Both teams are building towards a bright future. This bowl game won’t tell you who will be better down the road, but it’s another way to assess progress.

Just found out that my Vols will be playing in the Outback Bowl in Tampa and, as a band member, I can’t wait for the battle of the bands at Busch Gardens! I seriously hope we get some time off to ride the coasters!

Outback Bowl 2016

Alright VolNation! I hope you got to watch Tennessee defeat Northwestern 45-6 in the Outback Bowl! It was a memorable game for players such as Jalen HURD, Josh Dobbs, Jalen Reeves-Maybin, and Brian Randolph. The Vols had 226 rushing yards led by Jalen HURD who had 130 and also had a touchdown! He became the first Vol to rush for 100 yards in 2 bowl games! Josh Dobbs had 2 touchdowns and Alvin Kamara had 1. With less than a minute to go, Evan Berry intercepted the ball in the end zone and returned it for a 100 yard touchdown! Wondering who the MVP of the game is? It’s none other than Mr. Jalen HURD! Much deserved award!
