COLOR DAY 2014

We did it again! This time even bigger than last. Color Day is probably my favorite day at Burning Man. I love dressing up in one single color, but even more-so, I love watching all of my friends roam around together monochromatically.

Our House Camp teamed up with the Institute Village this year, and combined our love for creating a human rainbow on the playa. All of the thank you’s to everyone who picked a color and came out to play with us - especially to dianakathleen, caitran, and sgoralnick for helping put this all together.

My mind is already racing with the possibilities for next year. It’s never too early to start shopping for your favorite color.

Sometimes you get to go to burning man early. And it rains right after you arrive. And then there is a massive rainbow experience. And only after taking these photos do you realize your friend @samcomen from LA had been placed right across the street and that was his big white school bus. Sometimes #burningman starts that way and you just know it is about to be a magical adventure. #ourhousecamp

this year at burning man I laughed until I cried and I cried until I laughed. I danced during the heat of the day and I danced through the chill of the night. this year at burning man I made many new friends, but meeting them felt more like a reunion with old ones. I reflected and I laughed and I loved, with bright eyes and a big smile. this year at burning man beat my every expectation, including just how dusty I’m capable of being.
tonight I’ve showered and rested, and tomorrow I’ll make the drive back to “real life” in LA, with a steady countdown until the man burns again. #ourhousecamp

This year Black Rock City was hit with heavy thunder and lightning storms early in the week. Our camp was already mostly set up before the storm came, so the only thing that effected us was the 2 inches of mud we collected on our shoes from walking around - which was easily remedied by tying plastic bags around our feet.

So yeah, if you hear about the year they “shut down Burning Man,” it was really only a bummer for those not already through the gates. We were having a great time in the damp desert.

Some of Our House campers are raising money to get some finishing touches together on their art installation being built in the Burning Man Pavilion this year.

Be awesome, donate what you can, and then come to their event in San Francisco next month!
