our summer is like taking a shower outside

Sometimes when I’m talking to my friends that live out of state or abroad I mention going and getting water from distribution centers (I’m from Flint remember) and they’re always like “god that sounds so horrible? It sounds like you live in, like, communist russia” and I guess I’m used to it so I don’t think about it like someone from outside the city would but yeah, we have to get our water from distribution centers and we have to ration it and we have to be really stingy about what we cook and how we take ‘showers’ like, anything pasta is a delicacy here because it uses a lot of water to make and summers are always super difficult because it doesn’t rain much and when we run out of rainwater we have to ration even more like shit yeah I guess that is pretty… rough?
