our failure

please stop assuming all asian musicians are naturally talented prodigies!!! there is no such thing as ~~natural talent~~ and we all work our butts off to get good at what we do, so please learn to accept that!!!!

Some of us will never graduate college.
Some of us will never get a stable job.
Some of us will never grow up.
Some of us will never be loved.

And most of some of us will endure despite
knowing the fact that the only thing that truly justified
our existence was all our failures.

Unlucky

After a hard day of laughing at our bard’s failure to roll anything significant, it was time to clean up and head home. In doing so, we discovered that he had a few extra papers lying around. It turns out he was making backup characters.

Bard: Oh, those are mine.

Fighter: Really? Wow, low stats.

Rogue: Maybe because he sucks at rolling.

Fighter: Roll to save from that burn!

Bard: *Sighs and rolls 5.*

Everyone: OOOOH!

I drew the Seekers bc they make me happy, when they emote their wings go flap flap!!!! ;A;

Loving the text messages!! Keep up the good work! Also if you don't mind could you describe darks and antis personalities according to you?

Absolutely!!! Beware though, I’m about to wax poetic because I LOVE these two characters. I’m sorry that this post is so long but I’m NOT putting it under a cut because I worked on this for over a fucking hour instead of writing my history paper and I want at least one person to actually read it. :P

I’m gonna go a little in depth with what I believe is their canon personalities according to my interpretation and then how I incorporate those interpretations into Texts From Dark And Anti. Some of you may be surprised to find that I actually heavily take their canonical personalities into account when I make my edits; it’s not all just dick jokes and memes for the sake of notes. Texts From Dark And Anti is my love letter to these two characters, and I’ve gone to great lengths to portray them in the best way possible.

But enough babbling. Let’s start with Dark.

CANON PERSONALITY: Master Manipulator and Sexual Predator

Per Mark, Dark is a master manipulator. He’s a snake in the grass, ready to tell you anything and everything you need to hear in order to get what he wants from you.

I’d argue that this often works for him. Obviously he’s a very good actor if he’s able to mimic Mark perfectly in the “Chocolate” ending, so that makes me think that he’s able to assume whatever personality and/or extend whatever favors he needs to to trick his victims into abiding by him.

But it’s also worth mentioning that Dark’s biggest weakness (arguably) is his jealousy. As Mark said, Dark’s extremely jealous of Mark, and he wants everything that Mark has: wealth, fame, success, and devoted fans. I’d be willing to believe that that last thing is what rubs Dark wrong the most.

Evidence? Mark’s fans are exactly what he goes after. Wanna know what’s freakier? IT FUCKING WORKED.

Mark took all of his fans out on a date. All of us adored him for it. Dark got jealous of this, so he infiltrated the date and tried to get us to support him instead. And when Tyler Mark showed up to fight him, Dark didn’t kill him himself. He manipulated us into doing it for him.

And what brings this home is that Dark has had the longest lasting potential out of anything to come out of this video. All of the other memes and references have lost their luster by now, but the resurgence of Dark-related fan art, ask/rp blogs, edits, and memes are still going strong. Dark infiltrated our date and convinced us to love him and worship him the same way that we do Mark, and we fucking fell for it.

So why does he do this? Is it just because he’s a jealous prick? Partially, but I think that, canonically, there’s more to it. I think it’s because he thrives on his ability to hold power over people, which is comparable to–get ready for it–sexual predators.

Dark exhibits a lot of the traits we normally attribute to these criminals. He’s attractive, charismatic, extremely manipulative, and sadistic. He says things like, “I can give you anything,” and, “If it’s dinner you want, I can provide.” Provide is an interesting word choice here, because that’s what society has dictated the man in a relationship should do. He even acts seductive: arching his neck, eye-fucking the camera, and he even blows us a kiss (see below). But the way that he grabs and shakes us periodically throughout his mental breakdown betrays his inner sadism and anger issues, also common among sexual predators. I absolutely think that based on Dark’s behavior and what we know about him, he’s totally down to fuck anyone and everyone in order to get what he wants–consensual or otherwise. And I definitely think he’ll enjoy it.

I wouldn’t necessarily say that Dark is a nymphomaniac. As an otherworldly being, it’s entirely possible he doesn’t even have a sex drive. But sexual predators don’t usually rape their victims just to get their dicks wet. Usually, it’s a power issue; they want to feel like they have mastery over something, and that they are dominant and in control. Given Dark’s obsession with taking all of Mark’s glory away from him, coupled with his violent mood swings and sadism, I would say that sexual assault is probably just one of the many ways he appeases his insatiable appetite for power and manipulation. And I’d even bet that it’s one of his go-to’s.

In Texts From Dark And Anti, I normally portray Dark as a bitter old demon who doesn’t understand memes and doesn’t want to put up with anybody’s shit. But I didn’t just do this for fun; I did it because I could see Dark being jaded in real life. Off-camera, when he’s not trying to seduce us into adoring him over Mark, I could see him being sick of being overlooked. He’s old, even by Mark’s channel’s standards, and up until “A Date With Markiplier”, he wasn’t mainstream in the fandom at all–not fun for someone who craves the adoration of others. So he’d definitely be off-put by Anti’s much younger, more erratic personality, and in a bad mood he’d bitch at him for it. But in a good mood, he’d use it to his advantage to get whatever he wants–sex, souls, and anything else his blackened heart desires, both for the reward and the thrill of not having to do it himself.

Now let’s talk about Anti.

CANON PERSONALITY: Chaotic Psychopath

Jack has been near-silent on his personal interpretation of Anti (although he’s stated that he definitely has a personal canon that he refuses to share, the little fucker), so all of this is going to come from speculation and what we see onscreen.

While Dark chose to make his debut in one long, continuous, elegant appearance, Anti showed up randomly throughout the month of October, with no prelude and no explanation as to why he was there. Also in contrast to Dark’s smooth, charismatic personality, Anti is visibly unstable, jittery, and psychotic. Both he and Dark exhibit bloodlust, but Anti doesn’t hide it. He doesn’t hold back any of his sociopathic tendencies, going so far as to murder his host on camera for the world to see.

We don’t exactly know what Anti’s agenda is, but that’s just it: I don’t think he has one. At least, not one beyond the psychotic urge to kill as much and as many people as he can. Even in “Say Goodbye”, all he does is laugh at/condemn the viewer for not warning Jack and saving him. The other times he was on camera in October, he was glitchy, with several different appearances (fangs, gauges, blood, etc.) and contorted, unsettling body movements, making me think that Anti is a supernatural being that thrives on chaos and bloodshed.

But  Anti doesn’t just want to cause havoc–he wants to cause havoc and get the credit he deserves for it. That’s why he showed up so much on camera without Jack noticing; he was there for us, not him. Then he made a big deal about us not telling Jack what was going on, condemning us for our failure to make his existence well-known. Then he crashed Jack’s panel at PAX, angry at us for “forgetting” him. He’s not trying to garner our support like Dark is; if anything, he wants us to be terrified of him.

But personally, if I had to choose between being locked in a room with Dark and being locked in a room with Anti, I’d choose Anti in a heartbeat. Because even though Anti is more obviously psychotic, at least I’d know I would be killed quickly–unlike Dark, who would torture and manipulate me verbally, physically, and possibly even sexually for an indeterminate amount of time. This is Anti’s downfall, I think; Dark disguises his true nature with seduction and charisma, but because Anti’s so unpredictable and surface-level, he identifies himself as a very obvious threat, ironically making him a little easier to understand.

Thus, my interpretation of him in Texts From Dark And Anti reflects this (albeit in a more comedic way). Anti loves memes and silly trends because he wants to stick out in a way that’ll gain recognition. He’s more up-to-date with Internet trends and slang because he’s much younger than Dark–but that also means that he’s more gullible, and a lot of simple things go over his head. Basically all of his emotions are double that of Dark’s, and he makes no efforts to disguise them. He’s also much more privvy to senseless murder than Dark. This speaks highly of his psychotic tendencies and general disregard for any order or secrets he could be bothering to keep. What you see of Anti is what you get: an easily-excitable, always-ready-to-fuck-shit-up killing machine.

So…yeah. That’s pretty much my piece. Told you it’d be long. X’D

But tysm for asking!! And if any of you bothered reading this far, PLEASE reblog or leave a reply with your thoughts on my interpretation of these two characters and how you characterize them personally. I’m super crazy interested in the lore around these two (or lack thereof), which is why I created Texts From Dark And Anti in the first place. ^_^

Talk about Aleppo. Cry for them like you cried for Paris. Cry for them like you cried for New York. Talk about them. Our silence is killing them. They are people, PEOPLE. Are they not important because they’re arabs? because they’re Syrian? Do their lives matter less than the life of a French or an American? People from Aleppo are posting their goodbye messages on the internet as a final massacre is expected to happen any time soon and we are SILENT. We have been silent for over five years. Some children in Aleppo don’t know life without war. Imagine living in a city of ruins and having to fear for your life every instant. Hospitals, churches, houses, restaurants are bombed on the daily and hundreds are killed every single day. Yet we are silent. Remember them. Honor them. We’ve allowed a mass genocide to happen before our eyes for years. It’s burning is a testament of our moral failure. Talk about Aleppo, please.

Let’s have the conversations we’re not having.
Let’s talk about why we don’t talk.
Let’s tell each other what we’re really thinking.
Let’s lay out our hurts. Our hang-ups. Our hearts.
Let’s admit our failures and ask each other’s forgiveness.
Let’s show each other who we really are and see if there can still be an us after that.

technomancer98  asked:

Could you write a post about INTJs and why they fail. Examine some of the popular INTJs and explain why they failed. For ex. Voldemort, etc. also maybe how they can succeed. I'm not evil,I swear.

Sure you’re not. But if you take over the world, I want in.

(Notice how my brain immediately switched to “villain” after you said “popular” simply because you used Voldemort as an example. I love my INTJ villains, so if you were hoping for something other than villains, it sucks to be you.)

Many INTJ villains fail because they have to; fiction usually dictates the good guys win (unless you are George R.R. Martin), so the INTJ has to make some stupid nonsensical mistake that their Te would probably not make in real life. Such as: leaving the hero alive (so he can cause trouble later) rather than shooting him in the face. Or stopping to boast about what a genius you are, which gives him time to figure out how to stop your maniacal plan.

If Te-using villains were like actual evil Te’s and had zero moral foundation, the movie or television series would be short, because they would simply “deal with the problem” (Te) and kill the heroes right out of the gate. Like, for example (because I love using him as one) – the cardinal in The Musketeers TV show. The series does an excellent job of establishing him as a solid Ni-Te thinking villain, where most of his decisions and evil actions are motivated through Te.

But then, there’s Lady deWinter.

As my INTJ friend pointed out, from a detached “villain” perspective, she is a loose cannon and if this were real life, and the cardinal really was a narcissist incapable of mercy (thus without any moral conscience), killing her would be the most rational solution (Te), because she endangers him at every turn. He cannot control her, she frequently screws up his plans, and threatens to ‘out’ him through association. She’s a psychopath, which means she could turn on him. Any evil INTJ would know this right out of the gate.

But because the screenwriters “like” her, and want her in the plot, the INTJ villain lets her live, in a colossal betrayal of his functional development.

That’s just an example of real life villainy vs. contrived writing. ;)

(If you want to avoid your villain murdering your hero, but still have an NTJ villain, make damn sure it’s not a “convenient” out unworthy of strong Te. Either he never managed to get his hands on your hero, or he has a rational reason for letting him live. Your hero has to be smarter than the evil NTJ villain.)

Anyway, side trip, back to the main point: INTJs fail because of poor Se.

Se is what grounds a Ni into reality. Unless an INTJ develops it, their futuristic vision or expectation lacks realistic expectations. Their perception about people, situations, or ideas will be wrong. They can become so obsessed with their dream of what the future will be, that they neglect to look around them and see what’s happening right now. And, a poor Se will make them “lazy” and “unmotivated,” so they may sit around and scheme or dream or plan and never actually get up and do anything to make those visions real.

(Example of extreme inferior-Se laziness: the cardinal telling deWinter to plant evidence in someone’s room, when he could walk upstairs and do it himself. :P)

OR… they will act irrationally and impulsively with Se, and ruin the entire thing, because FOR ONCE they didn’t think first and then can’t scramble fast enough (more poor Se) to cover their tracks (see the Musketeers season one two-part finale for a great example of the cardinal doing this).

Voldemort failed because of his arrogance. He was intelligent enough to assume he had covered all his bases and that no one could beat him. He failed because he could not adapt to his environment (bad Se). He failed because he was so fixated on making his personal vision of the future real (I will never die, I will be invincible) he did not look around or bother internalizing the meaning of Potter. He focused on the threat and missed everyone’s motivations. Because he is poor at Fi, he made a mistake common to Te users (good or bad): he underestimated how much people care.

Voldemort murdered Lily Potter, which turned Snape against him. He assumed it would not matter. He was wrong. That killed him long before his actual death. He was dead the minute he discounted Snape’s feelings.

You see this in a “good” INTJ character in the Wolf Hall books who makes the same mistake when he arranges a rational marriage for Henry VIII (a foreign princess, an alliance, everyone wins!) and then forced him to hold to it, due to diplomacy, even though Henry hated her. Cromwell signed his death certificate the minute he did that.

What is RATIONAL is not always good for people’s feelings.

Almost all INTJ villains fall into one of these traps: bad Se (misjudging situations, being delusional, failing to adapt in a dangerous situation, or acting impulsively at the wrong moment, because they cannot sense the right moment) or Te devaluation of others’ emotions (killing someone another person cares about, which causes them to turn on them later).

Non-villains still make these mistakes, but there’s nothing vindictive behind it.

Now, how as a sane, moral human being can you succeed?:

Develop your Se. Stop just trusting your hunches and look for evidence. Stop fixating on the future and engage with the present. Stop standing on the sidelines and physically engage with the world once in awhile. Stop being so intellectual that you are a physically lazy human being.

Develop your Fi. If you dismiss and belittle people, sneer at them, etc., they will not like you. To get anywhere in this world, people must like you. Healthy Te understands the world is “give and take” and unnecessary drama, insults, sarcasm, etc., is unprofessional and immature. You need not engage with people’s feelings, but you must respect them and the power they have over other people, even if they seem silly.

Don’t be afraid to take a chance. Sometimes, you have to stop thinking and try. If you fail, you recoup and try again. We are not defined by our failures, but by our willingness to keep trying.

Give yourself reasonable goals. Ones you can work toward in the short and long term, which will allow you to see you are moving forward. If you develop your Se enough, your goals will be achievable, because you will have a sense of how much you can do. Using Te too much will wear you out, so pace yourself.

Go forth INTJs and be awesome! :)

It is so vital that we remind the younger people in our community that they aren’t alone in history. That queer people have always existed and their existence now is the culmination of so much work from the people before them. And that every second of work is worth it if it made it easier for them to get through their lives and embrace their identity. And that the work they do now will be building the future for the next generation. We must teach each other to take pride in our history and learn from both our failures and our successes. We must learn our history, and when it is time teach our history to the next generation in any way possible.

You are deserving of your own love. I know it can be tough. Criticism, bullshit, doubt and fear - they are formidable foes. They hide in the back of our brains and hearts, and work tirelessly to chip away at us. But they become powerless when we give some genuine heart space to ourselves. When we recognize the sheer perfection of our imperfection. When we realize that the sum total of our successes and our failures are what makes us who we are. And that all of it has value. So go ahead. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and say, “Hey You. Yeah you. This body and mind I am housed in. You’re fucking awesome. And I love you.

we learned how to hide it, how to chomp back the bit of girls, braid the secret deep in our hair and leave it. we doodled two girls kissing and gave one short hair. made stick figures with only one in a dress. we tried not to stare too long at the tv when she was pretty because we sensed innately something was wrong with us. we watched the scene where she’s laughing maybe sixteen times before we felt creepy. we sang the lyrics loudly and in public changed the pronouns. in private we wrote our own songs that were tuneless and featured only her name ached out in music. we danced around the subject, we said, “ew that’s gay,” we identified as ally sometimes but wrinkled our nose if everyone else did in the room. and we were lonely. and terrified. like lying to a jury. like if we messed up for a moment we would be sentenced to the guillotine. on private blogs we wrote poems about the cloud girls we wished we could kiss, we google-searched “how to know if i’m a lesbian”, we made fake yahoo accounts to ask why looking at her made our stomach sick. in public it was different, the art of “no i don’t have a boyfriend,” or even worse, the art of pretending to find boys remotely interesting. the savage lies that curled into us until even we no longer knew what was fact and what was fiction. and that bitter anger we saw in others - always at ourselves, and our failures.

Astrology is neutral.

If you guys have been following my blog, I think I’ve said this statement countless times in countless ways. And really, I am not kidding. Everything about astrology is neutral. I think a lot of people can misunderstand astrology for what it is because of their own perceptions, and because concepts that are made to simply help one understand astrology can actually limit their views in the long run. I’ll explain.

Since astrology is neutral, the “doomed” dilemma should logically cease to exist. Have you ever read Saturn in your chart and thought, “Wow, I’m so screwed?” Have you ever found your crush’s placements, only to be crushed that he’s a Sagittarius, and you’re a Cancer? I think the main misconception here is that with anything that is seemingly negative in astrology (malefics and challenging aspects,) the only outcome that can result from those things are negative, which is not true at all. The signs are neutral and the aspects are neutral. Period.

How is it that you can see an Aries and Cancer couple last forever, but see a Virgo and Capricorn couple fail? How is it possible to see a couple with hopeless synastry make it through, but a couple with a trine-filled synastry chart fail? All of that would be possible, if astrology was neutral. The signs are neutral because there is a a positive and a negative expression. The aspects are neutral because there are good and bad expressions.

To be specific, having a square aspect can definitely be challenging, which is the negative expression everybody cries about, but overcoming that challenge is definitely rewarding and fulfilling, which is the positive expression some people forget to see. Not so bad anymore, right? With harmonious aspects, a lot of people can see how easy it is to channel your positive characteristics, but people tend to forget that with easy access and harmony to a certain part of your chart can bring laziness and ignorance. With harmony comes a lack of a need to improve. If you can already do a certain thing so well, why look at it? And since the harmonious energy comes so naturally (especially with a trine,) it can bring ignorance. Since the harmonious energy comes to you so naturally, you can think that other people are able to handle energies nicely like you, which is definitely not the case. Not so good anymore, right? With that being said, aspects are neutral.

And if astrology’s neutral, it really gets rid of a question people tend to have with astrology: Does astrology limit free will? If astrology is neutral, it will most definitely not. If astrology was viewed in a biased way, then yes. Whether free will exists or not is another topic, but for those who do believe in free will, the fact that astrology is neutral should give you hope. Imagine having the freedom and ability to transform that ugly Sun square Mars aspect of yours into something great. Imagine having the freedom and ability to also transform that beautiful Sun trine Pluto into something truly terrifying. With the neutrality of astrology, you can really do whatever you want, and that can either be very comforting or terrifying.

Astrology is really not supposed to limit your abilities. It’s really just tragic that some people will let their own perceptions of astrology limit them from what they can do. Astrology is not meant to limit the way you think, it’s supposed to make you understand yourself, others, and the world around you. The moment you let some “astrological knowledge” limit the way you think, you are not practicing astrology.

The only thing that is not neutral is ourselves. We are not neutral because we are people that ultimately decide what we do with the natal charts given to us. The natal charts we have affect how we see certain things, which ultimately brings bias. Couples, not aspects, ruin relationships. People, not malefic planets, ruin their own lives. With that being said, we are completely responsible for our successes and failures, not the stars.
