original upstairs downstairs

About flipping time: britbox is Netflix for old British TV.

Flagship programme is Classic Who: they have all complete serials except, oddly, Remembrance of the Daleks, Five Doctors, and the movie which gets into licensing issues with Fox.

Other items on my watchlist: Campion, Granada Holmes (search for “Sherlock Holmes”), Red Dwarf, Black Adder, Neverwhere. Also Last Detective, because I’m a Davison fan. And sooner or later I’ll get around to Miss Marple and Brother Cadfael.

My tastes are obvious, but they’ve got other stuff besides SF and mysteries: Brideshead Revisited, Upstairs, Downstairs (original), Vicar of Dibley, Sharpe, Jane Eyre, something with Tennant whose name I’ve forgotten, and more recent stuff.

Hopefully they’ll pick up Blake’s 7, Avengers and The Prisoner if they do well.

Currently only seems to be available in the states, $6.99/mo. I’m putting my money where my mouth is, since I emailed the BBC saying they needed to give us a subscription service for classic Who streaming. I have DVDs of my favorite era, but I can’t afford to replace all my aging VHS tapes of stories I may watch only once every 20 years.
