organic brands

Things have been crazy lately so I just wanted to take a moment and remind you to love yourself because you are important!  No matter who you are or where you come from! Don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise!

I decided to make a step by step “How-to Jenny’s Witchy Brew” for Self Love ~ Rose Soy Milk Tea <3

Things you will need:

-Rose Tea: I get mine at 99 Ranch Market but it’s essentially just dried rose hips so if you have rose hips that you can dry out, that will work too! You will want to use 6-8 rose buds, the more you add the stronger the flavor!

-Organic Soy Milk: This can be regular milk or almond milk, I prefer unsweetened organic soy milk. If you decide to use soy make sure it’s organic! Brands such as ‘Silk’ isn’t good, even if they claim it’s organic, for some reason it burns and wont cook right. It’s gotta be the real deal! For this recipe you only need 1 cup.

-Honey: Any kind of organic honey will do, if you have herbal honey that’s even better for adding more florals to your tea! I usually add about 2-3 teaspoons, but feel free to add to taste!

-Cinnamon & Nutmeg: This is optional! I like to add just a pinch of both spices to add a little kick to my tea. If you don’t care for spice try ¼ teaspoon of vanilla extract instead!

-Sugar: This is also optional, I like my tea to be a little on the sweet side & since we are using organic unsweetened soy milk it helps to really sweeten it up! I only use barely a ½ teaspoon,  but just add to taste!

-Small Pot

-Mesh Strainer: For removing the flowers once it’s cooked.

-Your Favorite Mug! Mine is a black mug with my astrological sign gold leafed into it!

Before starting, take a moment to close your eyes, clear your mind, breathe deeply through your nose and slowly release through your mouth (do this a few times). Visualize letting go of any negativity or weight you may be carrying on your shoulders…now…

1- Pour soy milk into pot, turn heat on low

2- Add rose tea, gently crumble a couple of the buds

3- Add cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar

4- Add desired amount of honey; while you slowly drizzle it in feel free to draw symbols with it such as hearts or infinity symbols- whatever you feel is right for helping to instill your manifestations of self love into your tea!

5- Stir your brew clockwise! While slowly stirring visualize the self love that this tea will bring you & say some positive affirmations about yourself such as:

“I love the person I am, I am strong & caring, I am creative, I am beautiful inside and out…” say whatever best suits your needs for self love and take a moment to appreciate the wonderful person you are! <3

6- Let your tea brew for approximately 10 minutes on low stirring occasionally to prevent scorching. DON’T LET IT BOIL! You want to create an infusion of the flowers which means a longer slower heating process. Boiling will mean scorching the flowers and milk!

7- You’ll notice the rose buds will begin to loose their color, remove your brew from the heat to let it cool and allow the tea to steep for about 3 minutes.

8- Remove roses with mesh strainer and compost.

As you drink, visualize your tea as a pink white healing light of love and remember your affirmations taking deep breaths in-between each sip! <3

I hope you all enjoyed this & that your tea was delicious & full of positive energy! Feel free to try making this with other flowers which have different properties such as: lavender & chamomile for happiness and relaxation!

Much Love <3

OK so Breakfast looks small but it’s very filling. Eating ½ cup of almonds in the morning is no easy task. I usually eat macadamia nuts, but almonds are way cheaper and easier to buy in bulk. They can be raw or dry roasted, salted or not salted, it doesn’t make too much of a difference.

Eggs are always cheap - and filling.

I included a couple of options for lunch depending on what’s on sale. Be smart with the lunch meat choice. When in doubt, always chose smoked… honey has sugar. You can also go for more quality deli lunch meat depending on budget. Tuna is the same - get what you can, or opt for higher quality.

For dinner there are a lot of choices depending on what is on sale. As far as the butter is concerned, I know many tell you to only go for the Organic/Grass Fed/Kerry Gold stuff, but you could also get organic store brand butter, or… you know, just BUTTER! The same can be said about salad dressings - sometimes the only thing I have in the house is the kids’ basic Hidden Valley Ranch. 2tbsp of dressing is not going to kill you… just make sure you’re reading labels, checking carbs, and not buying anything that says “lite” or “fat free” and you’ll be fine.

DIY ELECTROLYTE DRINK: Don’t waste $$$ on sports drinks!

You’ll Need…

¼ tsp Morton Lite Salt

1-2 tbsp Lemon Juice

½ Packet of Sugar-Free Sweetener

16-20 oz Water

going all-natural skin care + 6 things i stopped buying

1. Deodorant: Instead, use Witch Hazel (suggested scent: rose petal) on a pad, apply under arms

benefits: helps reduce discoloration in armpits // lowers skin pH so odor-causing bacteria can’t exist // no harsh smells

2. Shampoo: Instead, cleanse your hair, as needed, with diluted Apple Cider Vinegar, and rinse out after 3-5 minutes.

benefits: repairs hair cuticles // cleanses your scalp // does not strip your hair of natural oils // no sulfates and other stripping chemicals

3. Makeup Remover Wipes: instead, use a washcloth (preferably black) and apply solidified coconut oil to your face, then use the cloth to wipe your entire makeup off until satisfied. *(continue with face wash routine or face mask)

benefits: reusable // machine washable // save money // gentle on the skin // effectively removes makeup

4. Ineffective Lip Balms: instead, make or buy your own natural oil-and-shea butter-based lip balm (suggested brand: BUTTERelixir Lip Balm)

benefits: 100% natural // cruelty-free // protect lips from sun and wind // can also be used to moisturize and help improve nail and cuticle texture and strength // no GMA, preservatives, parabens, sulfates, phthalates, synthetic fragrances // BPA free // non-toxic vegan

5. Disposable Razors: instead, instead, use a stainless-steel safety razor with reusable blades

 benefits: eco-friendly // zero-waste // reusable // unisex // sustainable

6. Shaving Cream: instead, use hair conditioner (preferably a natural and/or organic brand such as Petal Fresh Pure) on desired external areas (**shaving with a sunburn, use aloe vera for a cooling effect and skin treatment)

benefits: cost-effective // moisturizes skin // allows easier movement with razor/shaving stick // convenient in the shower // smoother skin // prevents ingrown hair and bumps // hydrating

who do i have to pay for a clexa bachelor au. yes, i realize that lexa is a lesbian and wouldnt be competing to marry a dude, but here are some ways to get around that:

1) lexa is there to promote her [insert brand/organization/career here] and the casting crew let her on so they’d have a ‘villain’ for the season.

2) lexa is a producer/director and falls for competitor clarke (who makes it really far and lexa wants her to be happy but not with doucheface mcgee and she doesnt want her to win and then clarke turns down his proposal because she fell for lexa too AND THEY RUN AWAY TOGETHER)

3) bisexual bachelorette clarke has guys and girls competing for her.

4) GAY bachelorette lexa sees clarke on day 1 and is like FOUND HER. SEASON OVER.

For @carryon-countdown!!!!! In which Simon and Baz are both beauty you tubers who couldn’t be any more different

  • Baz is a beauty guru that is honestly slightly terrifying to watch.
  • He always scowls at the camera like he just fucking knows you’re putting the eyeliner on wrong and his is so sharp it could cut someone.
  • He only uses the best of everything, and his looks are ridiculously editorial. Cranky and Cool is his #thing. He always ends up looking unreal, with dark green metallic lip and dark purple eyeshadow, flawless skin, sharp ass cheekbones he spends hours on with his Kat Von D Shade and Light palette
  • IRL he’s an economics student in London with a really posh flat, and he uses Excel to organize his entire fuckin life, like don’t even diss Excel in front of him
  • His filming area is Minimalist™, grey desk, grey walls, all his makeup and brushes organized by brand on the wall behind him.
  • He doesn’t even do an intro, he just blinks at the camera impassively for a couple seconds before he just starts in with the tutorial. But it isn’t even really a tutorial because he just expects you to KNOW how to bake your undereye concealer. Like, I’m telling you, watching him is stressful and intimidating
  • But he somehow has taken the beauty world by storm, and he has 3 million subscribers that he rarely interacts with except to critique their technique when they tweet him a pic of them recreating one of his looks:
  • “Did you use lipliner? I can see some bleeding in the corner smh. Try better”
  • Then there’s Simon.

Do you have any Costco tips or recommendations for a fellow single person who lives alone? I'm about to get one in my area and I'm excited, but not sure I can really make use of it.

First of all, the stuff you get the most value out of at Costco is always the stuff that doesn’t go bad and that you KNOW you’ll use up. The kind of stuff where you can store the extra in the basement or the garage. A short but by no means complete list:

  • Toilet paper
  • Trash bags
  • Soap of all kinds - dishwasher/dish/body/face/laundry
  • Paper towels
  • Razors if you are a shaving sort of person
  • Shampoo/deodorant/etc, pads/tampons
  • Vitamins if you take them

Then there are your not-very-perishable food items. My go-to list includes:

  • Olive oil (I go through olive oil like whoa), veg oil
  • Canned things (tomatoes, beans, fruit/veg)
  • Pasta sauce
  • Crackers (they have yummy gluten-free crackers there - I am not GF I just like them)
  • Individual packets of Crystal Light drink powders (I use these a lot to help power through a lot of water)
  • Spices/salt/pepper/etc
  • If you eat a lot of any particular grain (rice, quinoa, whatevs) and have room to store them it’s a good buy there.

I tend to stay away from their huge variety of individually packaged snack foods except I do like their trail mix and buy that from time to time. (Incidentally the Costco store brand, Kirkland, is pretty awesome).

Frozen items are good too but you have to consider your available freezer space. I buy the chicken breasts and the quinoa mixture. They have a wide variety of other proteins available, and frozen fruit/veg, it’s just a question of what you personally like to eat.

When it comes to perishables, the things I buy reliably are:

  • Babybels
  • Laughing Cow cheese (both of these items don’t go bad quickly and i eat them a lot)
  • Hummus
  • Mini naan breads (they come in a packet of 18, fit in the toaster and are my go-to quick snack bc they’re super delicious)

I also buy a carton of half and half usually. Their brand, Horizon Organic, seems to last a long time so even though it’s just me and I only drink one cup of coffee a day, it doesn’t go bad before I use it up (a full half gallon). I will sometimes buy a prepared food when I’m there just to have that day - their quinoa deli salad is great, rotissserie chicken, croissants. Most Costco stores have great bakeries that make all their baked goods (muffins, cookies, breads, etc) daily.

Incidentally one of the things I buy the most of, cream cheese, I do not recommend the Costco brand. It just tastes funny to me. I buy that at Kroger (where it’s almost always on sale so no great loss).

I generally don’t go much for the baked goods or the fruit unless I’m buying for a gathering of people. I do like buying their veggie trays and fruit bowls. They’re very reasonably priced and good quality.

Costco also has good prices on wine and beer, stuff like socks and underwear, household goods, small appliances, cookwear, even clothes.

Be prepared - you will have a much larger initial cost than you’re used to. Your price per unit is lower, so your savings are long-term, but because you’re buying the bulk units the actual price will be higher. Just brace yourself. And keep your storage capabilities in mind. I don’t buy stuff like bottled water or bottles drinks bc I don’t drink them but also I have no place to put them. Keep in mind that most Costco locations also have a gas station where you can get cheaper gas (although it’s not usually any cheaper than my Kroger plus-card price, so).

Costco often gets different stuff from time to time, so your favorite items may be there one visit and not the next (I’m still mourning that Greek quinoa mixture with the goat cheese - maybe someday it’ll return).

How do you look after your beautiful glowing skin and hair? Do you have a routine? Or any tips you swear by? I'm really struggling with dull, dry hair and skin at the moment :( xxx

Hi my darling! Thank you for the kind words about my skin & hair, I won’t deny it, both are thriving at the moment! Okay firstly I would highly recommend you check out my previous responses to skincare HERE

Anyway, when it comes to skin & hair there are honestly just so many factors that come into play & as I aways say each individual will thrive off different things so it’s a matter of finding what works for you, not just copying other people.

Factors that influence skin & hair are things like genes, diet, hormones, age, environment, products being used, exercise, hydration levels etc etc. So in terms of factors you can influence (as opposed to things like genes) here’s my advice:

  • DIET - I recommend a holistic plant based diet as a base line. Within that it’s important to find a ratio of how much & what kinds of foods work for your body.
    • For example, healthy fats are absolutely essential & play a huge role when it comes to hormone regulation & having healthy hair/skin (& a hell of a lot more) - particularly if you’re a woman. So it’s important to find a balance of how much fats your body needs to thrive - for me personally I experienced so many healthy benefits from increasing my natural fats, particularly when it came to my hair & (less so but) skin.
    • This is the same with all macro nutrients (fats, proteins, carbs) etc. & you might also find that certain foods/food groups work better for you then others. For example, I had a friend who found that watermelon made her skin breakout, but it could be more general like your skin feels better eating raw or cooked foods etc.
  • HYDRATION - water plays such a huge role in our health & it is seriously underestimated. This is particularly true when it comes to skin & hair. Water helps cleanse the body of toxins, which includes toxins within the skin. Keeping hydrated will help your skin stay moisturised, vibrant & clean.
    • How much water you should drink depends on things like how much you’re sweating during the day (e.g. from the heat or exercise), if you’ve been drinking & if you’ve been having a lot of sodium, but I personally run by the motto of having an absolute bare minimum of 2L a day, but generally aim for ¾+.
  • SLEEP - again, another general lifestyle factor that impacts your physical body, including skin/hair. The body loves consistency so try to aim for a minimum of 8/9 hours a night, sleeping at regular hours & avoiding electronics/screens at least 30 mins before bed (the usual gist).
  • EXERCISE - exercise helps you sweat which helps release toxins from the body thus helps with healthy hair & skin. It also can be a great de-stresser which can also help. And also, by toning up your strengthening & fighting your skin which can help avoid or reduce things like wrinkles & cellulite.
  • STRESS - stress can seriously muck with our body & of course that includes skin & hair. Making sure you manage your stress is going to help you avoid your skin & hair suffering from any reactions, so make sure you have & are consistently exercising stress relievers (e.g. reading, exercise, art, sleep, music, swimming, baths etc)
  • PRODUCTS - the skin absorbs 60% of what you put on it so it’s absolutely essential you know what is going gone your body & keep it as natural as possible; the same principle applies to hair. Conventional products are loaded with chemicals & cheap, grotty fillers so if you’re going to use products I highly encourage using stuff that is organic & as natural as possible.
    • For example, makeup can be a big contributor to poor skin. Conventional makeup is by far the worst, but just because you’re using natural/organic/vegan makeup doesn’t mean it won’t necessarily react badly with your skin. If you want to use makeup & skincare products then I’d recommend trialling a few different brands for a solid amount of time (at least a few weeks) & seeing how it goes & finding what works best. Again, keep it natural & organic, buy from brands where you can understand the ingredient list. The same principle applies to hair.
    • It’s also important to make sure you’re looking after your skin with the sun. Conventional sunscreens are absolutely horrific & filled with so much crap that it’s beyond me why natural sunscreens aren’t a bigger market. So go to your local health food/organic shop & get yourself some natural sunscreen. If you spend a lot of time at the beach it’s also important to make sure you’re keeping your skin hydrated & moisturised if it’s dry - I like to use cold-pressed organic coconut oil & aloe vera. Since i’ve been spending more time at the beach I’ve started implementing this into my regular routine & have noticed a difference; soft skin, moisturised, no sunburn, my skin isn’t becoming leather etc.
    • You may also found your skin can be reactant to certain materials such as synthetics in your clothing, so just keep an eye out if you’re finding your getting reactions with certain clothing pieces or bed sheets etc.
    • Personally, I believe that less is more & try to use as few products as possible when it comes to skin & hair; & of course these products are all natural. I found the less I used the better my skin got, but each to their own. At the moment I rarely wear makeup & the makeup I have is all natural & vegan (if you’re interested in the brand I’m loving atm then check out I don’t use any face scrubs or anything I just wash both my hair & body with an organic natural body wash (no shampoo or conditioner). I might occasionally do a coconut oil face scrub or hair treatment, but they’re not necessary & it’s more for the novelty.
  • GENERAL HEALTH - although I’ve mentioned a number of factors that come under your general health, I want to mention a few others under this general branch. So in general, if you’re suffering from health problems, whether that be diseases, weight issues, digestion issues, deficiencies (etc), your skin & hair can be affected. This might be as a direct side affect from whatever you’re going through or can be the result of subsequent factors (e.g. your illness makes you stressed which makes your hair fall out). So it’s really important to do all you can to keep up your general health, which will involve of what I said up there ^^

Hope this helps m’love!! Sending love xxx

Okay pleaseeee post a list of skincare products and makeup products that you use because im stunned omg your skin looks so pretty, and you're so beautiful omg 💘

can you believe ive waited my entire life for someone to ask me this question wleijfjfe

ok i have a very long skin care routine are you ready

((( my skin type is very oily so its heavily focused on cleansing and acne control bc i had a lot of acne in the past so if you have a dry skin type this might not be fit for you))))

((( also i try to use exclusively organic/cruelty free brands )))

  • first i wash my face twice with acure’s cleansing gel
  • then like every 2-3 days i exfoliate with mario badescu’s almond and honey exfoliator ((( always exfoliate to get rid of dead skin cells it’ll help even out your skintone a lot and also make your skin smoother)))
  • and depending on the day/how much time i have ill use a face mask ((i usually use one of those korean sheet masks bc i have 193984 of them)))
  • also sometimes i use manuka honey as a face mask bc it really helps with redness and acne
  • i tone using mario badescu’s cucumber cleanser ((this really helps with cleansing and disinfecting your skin so it really helps with acne))
  • i also use glossier’s super pure serum to help with my acne
  • then i spray andalou naturals’ vitamin c illuminating toner ((vitamin c really helps with dark spots and evening out skintone so if you have a lot of acne scars itll help with that))
  • i then have like 4 acne spot treatments that i rotate through bc i hate my acne so much and its been a problem forever –> i use mario badescu’s acne serum, nature republics bee venom spot treatment, acure’s spot treatment, and also when i have a really bad pimple i use a clean and clear one
  • i use rosehip oil on my cheeks and temples just to keep them smooth ((rosehip is really good for problem areas so it keeps the area hydrated and it also helps with acne spots))
  • then i go in with a moisturizer ((any works fine really i use andalou naturals’ brightening cream and also for the day i use mario badescu’s oil control cream bc i have so much oil laweijefij))
  • for the night i use a mario bedescu drying cream for my pimples
  • and for the day i put on a 50 spf sunscreen ((anything about 25 spf works pretty much)) which is super important bc sun exposure makes darkspots even darker :((

i also recently bought murad’s post-acne lightening gel ((i think its called that)) and its supposed to really help remove acne scars ((which i have soooo much of you just cant see it in the pics bc of lighting tbh)) but ive only had it for like 2 days so idk about results yet

also some other tips to maintain clear skin:

  • sleep (relatively) early so like before 12
  • drink lots of water
  • dont wear a lot of heavy make up ((honestly i never wear foundation or concealer or bb cream bc im lazy but also it lets your skin breathe))

Guys, guys, gUyS I just realized: I’m not allergic…

Can you make your own cheese/yogurt? I have a recipe for ricotta that’s just milk and vinegar or lemon juice. Did I miss allergies to lemons too?

Vinegar is sulfited so I struggle to eat anything that uses vinegar. Sucks cause I love it (and use it to clean a lot) but it makes my symptoms a whole lot worse.

I am thinking of maybe trying to make my own yogurt at some point. I did find an organic brand at the store I could somewhat tolerate, but they used pectin to firm it up, and although pectin can be organic the process that changes things into pectin involves…wait for it…sulfites. So yea. I’m not sure how well I’d tolerate it.

At this point I’m happy to give up cheeses if it means I’m not constantly on the verge of vomiting up an internal organ.

Mental Clarity Shower Spell

~Shower spell for focus, clarity, and understanding~

1. Coconut Oil

2. Dried Mint

3. Empty jar or container

4. Peppermint oil

5. Organic Sugar

(These aren’t brand specific, this is just what I happened to have in my pantry.)

1. Mix together equal parts coconut oil and sugar in the empty container

(this is about how much sugar I used)

2. Ad 2-5 drops of peppermint oil, and a layer of dried mint

3. Stir together well

4. Use as any other sugar scrub in shower, focusing on scrubbing away confusion and revealing clarity

1. 5 drops of peppermint oil creates a very strong smell. I am currently Allergy Queen of Congestion Land, so it was great for me, but if you aren’t stick to less drops.

2. If the lid of your container is metal, remove it before you get in the shower to avoid rust.

3. If mixing the coconut oil and sugar is difficult, microwaving the coconut oil melts it and makes mixing easier. However, if you intend to use it immediately, if the coconut oil is still melted when you are done, pop it in the freezer for about 20 minutes to re-solidify the oil.
