or maybe its the mother

A nesspaula comic I made a bit late for valentines day

i really and truly resent grrm for not giving us a better idea of what the stark women were like without southern influences. esp pre conquest stark women who were married to the kings of winter. arya and sansa were raised in large part by a septa which is def atypical. those teachings were extensions of the seven which had no place in the north, prior to this generation. cat is a southerner and even ned was raised in the south and they both expect their daughters to learn the ways of that world. but without that ??? lyanna is the only other female character we have as an example and while she wasn’t allowed to use a sword (openly) she was far from “”ladylike”” like arya she’s described as being wild and boyish. theres no indication of embroidery in her upbringing but horseback riding. besides a lot of northern women do openly fight like the mormonts and the wildlings.

i mean i dont think women of winterfell were all tomboys as a general rule but i do wonder how important a lot of the traditionally feminine pursuits we associate with ladies were to their roles and educations. were they expected to wear fancy dresses and sing or write poetry and embroider pretty things all while being gentle and sweet? i cant imagine so since this is a grim culture that revolves around a very harsh unforgiving land. the northerners are practical people. they dont like frivolousness. singers hardly even bother going up there, the only music the starks know is the howling of wolves ect. theres no grand septs with songs and few extravagant tourneys with knights. they worship in the forests and spend their time preparing ready for winter and the cold darkness. these were hard men so the women beside them would be harder too

most of the northern women do seem to be more wild and willful as opposed to ladylike and courteous. we see this in arya and lyanna stark, wylla manderly and the mormont girls, meera reed and alys karstark, ygritte and val. in bran’s vision theres a woman who cuts a man’s throat and theres a reference to arya flint as being an adventurous climber. they fight, they ride, they don’t hold back. and right theres thats like 99% of the northern girls.

so i think its pretty safe to say northern women tend to be more wild like the place they were born and raised in but i would still kill for a fully realized lady of winterfell who’s untouched by the south. mostly for arya’s sake. she thinks she’s unwelcome in her own place because the only female influences growing up were southern-like and they made her feel inferior. they expected her to be pretty and girly and….southern. but arya’s not a southern lady she’s a northerner. she needed a northern female elder who would’ve embraced her wildness instead of trying to tame it. too late for that now but i hope in the future she will realize that you can be a woman without being ladylike. i expect it’ll actually be a big part of her arc. and hopefully she will make friends with many of the above mentioned northern girls. because arya would have the baddest crew with meera and wylla and lyanna m. tbh.

stop pretending that sirius black isn’t a food snob and that it Kills him that lily puts ketchup on practically everything

Diana and Steve have like 7 kids, all girls, and most of them have Greek mythology names except for one who’s named after Steve’s mother, so that’s how they ended up with: ADRASTEA, EVADNE, HECUBA, Mary, IANTHE, OENONE, AOIDE

so, this is interesting.

chairman han sees his second wife as jumin’s mother. hence him calling his second wife “your mother” when speaking to jumin.

meanwhile, jumin makes sure to stress that she isn’t his biological mother, and uses the term ‘stepmother’ instead. he does this in the chat too, on the very, very rare occasion that she’s mentioned.

jumin doesn’t seem to have any relationship with his biological mother, considering that’s what he calls her, and he speaks about her so little that some people assume she’s dead. there’s a disconnect there, so it’s doubtful that jumin resents his stepmother for not being his ‘real mom’. nope, it’s just ‘stepmother’, and sometimes he distances himself from her even further.

so he’s consistent, right? it’s only ever his father who says she’s his mother, and he never thinks of her like that at all. case closed.

except there’s this

this is his stepmother talking during a nightmare/flashback that jumin’s having. he is labeling her as ‘mother’, even though we saw him actively avoiding that term the previous night.

not to mention that she’s encouraging him to call her by her first name while she’s hitting on him. it may not be the first time something’s happened, and it’s not a good sign that he won’t make eye contact with her, and, well…

his usual refusal to call her 'mother’ makes sense. Her presence seems to trigger some sort of negative reaction, and he’s trying to distance himself. but why label her as 'mother’ during that scene? is it because chairman han repeatedly referred to her as ‘your mother’ before that he has that nightmare/flashback? did he actually call her mother for a while? is it to hammer in that this woman is the closest thing to a mother figure that jumin has?

this may not be an anomaly. there’s at least one other moment when we hear him say 'mother’.

this is probably his stepmother again, considering how he calls her that in the earlier scene, his father thinks of her as jumin’s mother, and that unlike his biological mom, we do see his stepmother reveal her emotions to him. so if we already know her as his stepmother, why the sudden change? just how complicated was his family life growing up? what is happening, cheritz?

jumin, please, i know you don’t like to think about the past, but i have so many questions.

a/n : I hope you guys really like this story. I worked really hard and this story means a lot to me. So if anything I would really like some feedback and what you guys think of it. Thank you

Today wasn’t the best day of work, sitting at a desk all day and answering phone calls from very impatient rude people isn’t fun. When I drive out of the parking lot and onto the road my mind starts to check off the list of things I have to do when I get home. Cook dinner, feed the cat and do the laundry. Right before I get on the freeway I decide to stop by the little strip mall that is right across the street. I turn and pull in and park right in front of 7-Eleven, I decide to grab myself a treat just to maybe calm my nerves a bit for the rest of the day. I walk out and jog up to the front door, I yank the door open and stride right up to the freezer. I looked at all the types of ice cream bars they had, Snickers, Twix and Hershey. I decide to get a Snickers bar and pull it out of its case. I walk through the aisles searching for anything else that may grab my attention. I decide to not get much more and head up to the front counter to pay for everything. The cashier rings everything up and I hand him the money, he hands me my bag and say thank you. I reach for the door and walk out to the sidewalk, i start to walk to my car when I look to my left and notice a wonderful smell coming towards me. I decide to have a look and to see where it is coming from. When I start to walk and notice that it is coming from this one store that is called lush, never heard of it before. I walk in and decide to have a look around to see what they have.

 Part 2

Prompt: “You sign the contract in crayon and pray that you haven’t already made a mess of things.”

You sign the contract in crayon and pray that you haven’t already made a mess of things.

“We done?” You ask, hoping that he can’t hear how fast your heart is beating.

There is a pause and the smell of sulfur increases as a second signature is added below yours. “Agreed.” Red eyes gleam as they look over to the side at the small child you keep firmly behind you.

Your son looks back calmly, and comparing the two now you can see the features he got from the man in front of you, features that weren’t from either yourself or your husband. The shape of the eyes, the chin and hair color is his, but everything else is yours and you are going to make sure that nothing of his ever comes near your child again.

At least until the end of the contract.

Why Aku‘s not responding to his cultists

I’ve seen several posts poking fun at Aku’s cult for all the effort they’ve put in trying to get Aku to finally contact them, whereas Scaramouch simply phoned him, and then Aku was seen receiving visitors in his lair

and I think there are two possibilities to explain this situation:

1. The Aku’s cultists want Aku to appear in person, not just give them a message (the Cult’s Mother did say “Once they succeed, you will again honor us with your presence”). But although Aku can still be called or visited, his depression over the fact that Jack does not age and they’re apparently condemned for each other’s presence forever, made him not leave his lair in a long, long time (given his agelessness, maybe several years). The cultists can still contact him by other means (phone, magic portals), but they want Aku to come to them more than this.

Plus there is a small possibility they cannot leave from where they are, but given how the Daughters of Aku simply ran out of the cult’s hideout, this theory is unlikely;

2. The cult has pulled off some really big sh.t that made Aku mad with them and no longer willing to speak to them.

Maybe they’ve failed to kill Jack in the past, several times in a row, and Aku no longer believes they’ll succeed.

Maybe the cult was not always on Aku’s side, or maybe it had a traitor among its ranks that attempted to help Jack.

Maybe Aku simply grew tired of the cult for its repetitive rituals and abandoned them.

or maybe the Cult’s Mother banged Aku in his sleep and produced an offspring without his consent. Just saiyan.

You r/ylos are such reachers I swear. You don't even know who he's putting his hand for. Maybe it's his mother? You are desperate for your gross ship to be canon. But its isnt. Disney is baiting you and by the way its you who can't tell what Rey's character is, not us. We understand that Rey doesn't like being with her abuser.

Omg, is this real, or is it a troll post? I genuinely can’t tell anymore.

There was something that whispered in the quiet, Jimin had recalled. A wistful tone that called out his name, airy, light. In the solitude of his bedroom, dark and desolate, he had made up his mind that the voice was something he was not very fond of. It held something akin to hope.

“Jimin?” It called. “I told you, didn’t I? That I would love you forever?”

Yes, Jimin thought. You did.

And the voice was back, closer now. Murmuring quietly into his ear, tickling the cusp of his ear; like a bird’s song. “So why did you leave me?”

I don’t know, Taehyung.

I don’t know.
