This was requested by hpfan-lyric. This was the request:  Actually I have a fanfic idea haha. So could you do a story where y/n is at the burrow where her longtime boyfriend Fred gets Ginny, George, Harry, Hermione, Ron, Molly, Arthur etc etc. to create a brilliant plan to engage to y/n ?? Gracias señorita! xxx also I don’t know if you do personals but can you do my name instead of y/n? If not that’s totally cool 💕☺️👍🏼. A/N: Okay so this one is a bit long, and I’ll be posting the first chapter to my Fred/OC fanfic so keep an eye out for that if you’re interested. Keep requesting

“You’re proposing to Lyric?!” Ginny says excitedly. But also quite loudly because Lee shushes her.

“Tell the whole world, why don’t you?”

“Sorry it’s just, Fred and Lyric getting married. I never thought he’d have the balls to do it.”

“I’m right here Gin.” He says defensively. Fred had planned to do this for awhile. He’s actually wanted to propose for years. But then the war got worse and pretty soon you were at the Battle of Hogwarts. And it just got pushed aside. But when he thought he lost you in an explosion he realized that he didn’t want to wait a minute longer.

So while the castle was being rebuilt and Madam Pomfrey was changing your bandages he gathered George, Ginny, Lee, Angelina, Oliver, Harry, Ron, Hermione, Arthur and Molly in the Great Hall.

“Now I have a way I want to do this, but I’ll need your help.”

***

“Hey George, hey Lee, where is everyone?” You ask when you walk into the Great Hall and find most of your friends not there.

“Probably sorting through some rubbish.” George responds, flipping through a random book.

“So Pomfrey let you out of bed rest?” Lee asks as you sit down.

“Yeah, she still wants me to keep the sling on for another week or so,” you nod to your injured arm.

“Hey I almost forgot,” George pulls out a small wrapped box and hands it to you. “Fred asked me to give that to you.”

You open the box and find a small scroll that read, ‘To the girl I love I leave three clues, the gift in this box will lead you to number two.’ Under that flew a miniature snitch that was a little bigger than a pea. It flew circles around your head and then settled in your empty palm. “What the hell?”

“Lucky,” Lee whines. “I love scavenger hunts.”

“Wait, a scavenger hunt? That would mean Quidditch right? Because it’s a snitch. So I need to go to the Quidditch field to find the next clue,” you say outloud, tucking the snitch on you pocket.

In a few minutes you were on the remains of the field. Almost everything had been burnt to the ground. Oliver and Angelina were shifting through the still warm ashes looking for anything salvageable. What they could find they would put in the locker room that somehow remained intact.

“Did either of you see Fred down here earlier?”

“I think he was down in the locker room a few hours ago.” Angelina says, “You might wanna check there.”

The locker room was in shambles. Benches were overturned, locker doors had been ripped out, spare supplies torn to pieces. You spotted your old locker quickly. You smiled a little as the memories rushed back. You opened the door and it fell off. Written on the door was yours, George’s and Fred’s names in a permanent ink so it’d never come off. The three of you scribbled it there after winning your first game, the first time you felt like you were part of something bigger.

Inside the locker though was another small box. A silver dragon flies out and grabs onto the ends of your hair. It tries to climb up it and breathes out smoke in annoyance. Gingerly prying the dragon off you smile, knowing exactly where to go.

Way back during your seventh year you and Fred were sitting out in the courtyard trying to think of new pranks to make Umbridge squirm. He was sitting on the ground leaning against a bench with your head in his lap. “Firework dragons that just fly around the school and they’re charm proof. Bridge can’t get rid of them. And they could spit out smaller fireworks.”

He ponders this for a minute before breaking into a smile. “That’s brilliant, we could actually do that.” He scribbles it onto a scrap piece of parchment. “Merlin, I can’t wait to get out of here.”

You shift awkwardly and sit up. You hadn’t talked about what would happen afterwards. You open your mouth but Fred cuts you off. “I want you to move in with us. The place we bought has two bedrooms so I was thinking we could share one- or have your own and I could bunk with George. I just don’t want to lose you-.” You cut him off with a kiss that he took as a yes.

By the time you walked from the Quidditch field to the courtyard the sun was starting to set. Ron and Harry hurry away, mumbling excuses about trying to find Hermione and Ginny. You looked around for another box but couldn’t find it. You sigh and glance under the benches once more. You sit in the spot you and Fred had been sitting in all those years ago, hoping maybe it would help. You noticed that one of the bricks in the ground were uneven so you move towards it and pry it up. Under it was the last box.

Under the lid was a gold necklace with a charm shaped like a telescope perched on its stand. Little planets and stars were carved into it. It was beautiful, and the telescope reminded you of your first date with Fred in the astronomy tower.

When you walked through the door you let out a little gasp. It was exactly like the first date. There was a picnic blanket and basket in the middle. Around the darkening room were glowing orbs of light that looked just like stars, and floated just beyond your reach. It was just as beautiful as the first time, if not more.

Fred was leaning over the balcony watching the sunset, careful to avoid the chunk missing. He turns around and breaks into a giant smile, eyes brightening. “Hey, before you say anything just let me ask you something.” He gets down on one knee and pulls out another box out of his jacket. You cover your mouth to keep from blurting out a yes.

“Lyric, I have had the biggest crush on you for years. Since you tried to highfive the giant squid and almost got pulled in to be exact. And then you came up to me and asked me to the Yule ball yourself and I thought that it could never get better. Everything was perfect and it still is. I want this to last forever, for nothing to ever come between us, I don’t want to ever lose you. So what I’m asking is if you’ll marry me?” He opens the box and reveals a beautiful and delicate diamond ring.

You tackle him into a hug, causing him to fall backwards a bit. He laughs as you kiss him, repeating the word yes and yes over and over again. Because why wouldn’t you, you were marrying your best friend.
