or go read them in a bookstore

anonymous asked:

What sort of questions should I be asking my beta readers?

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR BETA READERS:

When I send out my chapter to be read over by my beta readers, I always include a set of questions typed out at the bottom, grouped into different categories such as: plot, pacing, character, setting, etc.

You might want to tailor the questions depending on the genre or which chapter it is. For example, if it’s the first chapter you’ll want to ask them about how well your story managed to hook them, or if they managed to easily get an idea of the world you’ve introduced them to. If it’s the climax you might want to ask if the action scenes are fluid, and if the plot twist/s were predictable or surprising.

Here’s some example questions that you could use:

Opening Chapter:

  • What is your first impression of the main character? Do you find them likable? Annoying? Boring?
  • After reading it for the first time, what is your first impression? Was it cohesive and compelling? Boring and confusing?
  • Did the first sentence/paragraph/page efficiently grab your attention and hook you in?
  • If you were to read this chapter in a bookstore/library would you be convinced to buy it? Or would you need to read further before deciding? Why or why not?
  • Did you get oriented fairly quickly at the beginning as to whose story it is, what’s going on, and where and when it’s taking place? If not, what were you confused about at the beginning?
  • Does the first chapter establish the main character efficiently? Do they feel believable?

Characters:

  • Could you clearly imagine what the characters looked like? If not, who?
  • Who was your favourite character and why? Has your favourite character changed? (if this hasn’t changed feel free to skip this question)
  • Are there any characters that you do not like? Why do you not like them? (Boring, annoying, problematic, etc.)
  • Was there ever a moment when you found yourself annoyed or frustrated by a character?
  • Could you relate to the main character? Did you empathise with their motivation or find yourself indifferent?
  • Were the characters goals/motivations clear and understandable?
  • Did you get confused about who’s who? Are there too many characters to keep track of? Are any of the names or characters too similar?
  • Do the characters feel three-dimensional or like cardboard cutouts?
  • How familiar have you become with the main characters? Without cheating could you name the four main characters? Can you remember their appearance? Can you remember their goal or motivation?

Dialogue:

  • Did the dialogue seem natural to you?
  • Was there ever a moment where you didn’t know who was talking?

Setting/world-building:

  • Were you able to visualize where and when the story is taking place?
  • Is the setting realistic and believable?
  • How well do you remember the setting? Without cheating, can you name four important settings?

Genre:

  • Did anything about the story seem cliche or tired to you? How so?
  • Did anything you read (character, setting, etc.) remind you of any others works? (Books, movies, etc.)

Plot/pacing/scenes:

  • Do you feel there were any unnecessary scenes/moments that deserved to be deleted or cut back?
  • Do the scenes flow naturally and comprehensively at an appropriate pace? Did you ever feel like they were jumping around the place?
  • Was there ever a moment where you attention started to lag, or the chapter begun to drag? Particular paragraph numbers would be very helpful.
  • Did you ever come across a sentence that took you out of the moment, or you had to reread to understand fully?
  • Was the writing style fluid and easy to read? Stilted? Purple prose-y? Awkward?
  • Did you notice any discrepancies or inconsistencies in facts, places, character details, plot, etc.?

Additional questions:

  • What three things did you like? What three things did you not like?
  • Can you try predicting any upcoming plot twists or outcomes?
  • Was there ever a moment when your suspension of disbelief was tested?
  • Is there anything you’d personally change about the story?
  • Was the twist expected or surprising? Do you feel that the foreshadowing was almost nonexistent, or heavy handed?

Feel free to tailor these to your needs or ignore some of them if you don’t think they’re useful. Basically, your questions are about finding out the information about how others perceive your own writing and how you can improve your story.

Where did all those feelings go? People spend their whole lives looking for love. Poems and songs and entire novels are written about it. But how can you trust something that can end as suddenly as it begins?

More bookstore antics, this time while I was working in the Children’s Department.

Since the children’s area was a bit closed off from the rest of the store, parents had the tendency to drop their kids off and go shopping elsewhere in the store (or, occasionally, out of it). On this day, a group of children of varying ages had been left in my department and, instead of reading, had busied themselves with a very loud game of knights, dragons, etc.

After about half an hour of my reminding them to use inside voices and walking feet and being ignored while I was trying to shelve books, I got fed up with it and pointed a pencil at them.

“The powerful wizard has put a spell on the kingdom! No one is able to run or speak above a whisper!”

The kids all stopped and stared at me for a moment before one started with “Hey, you can’t-” but was promptly interrupted by the rest of them telling him in hushed voices that they had to whisper now.

The department was blessedly quiet after that.

Overrated First Year Advice

Disclaimer: I don’t mean to discredit the posts that have these suggestions in them… However, I know that for people going into first year university, it can be stressful seeing pages and pages of “must-dos” and feeling like you have to do them all. As always, different things work for different people!

Talking to Profs

  1. Getting to know profs personally. If you don’t feel comfortable talking to profs personally, don’t feel like you have to. In upper years, it can be really valuable to know profs for recommendations, etc. but in first year this is less important. Profs also don’t usually mark your work in first year, so you don’t need to suck up to them for good grades.
  2. Going to office hours every week. Going to office hours can be very valuable if you have questions about the course or an assignments. However, I see a lot of posts telling students to go every week even if they don’t have a question. You don’t need to do this unless you want to! Often times, profs will even request that you talk to your TA before them.
  3. Emailing the prof if you miss class. Unless you go to a very small school, the prof is not going to notice if you miss class. You don’t need to email them telling them why you were absent, you can just go to a different section of the lecture or get the notes from someone. (If you have labs/tutorials/seminars, the same does not apply!! Email your TA.)

Studying and Grades

  1. Starting to study for tests six weeks in advance. This is one piece of advice that always baffles me. The semester is only 12 weeks long (usually), so if you have a quiz in week 6, you can’t start studying for it much before week 4 or 5. Also, there is no way you will retain the finer details of things if you learned them 6 weeks before writing the test.
  2. Guaranteeing a 4.0. I see a ton of posts telling students how to guarantee a 4.0 average or straight As. But honestly, as much as you do all of the readings and go to lectures and follow all of the studyblr advice out there, you can still get a TA who won’t give any mark higher than an 80. Just try your best and know that even though getting high marks is great, it is not the only indicator of success in uni.
  3. Sitting in the front of the class. This is not a necessity. A lot of people post that if the prof can see your face and remember you, you will get better grades. However, in first year, the prof doesn’t mark your papers usually and even if they did, your paper doesn’t have a photo of you on it. Also, they teach so many classes I doubt they just naturally remember the first three rows of each one and no one else. Just sit where you are comfortable and can pay attention and see, and you will do fine.
  4. Choosing your major in high school or based on what job you think you will get. If you think you want to major in something and then it turns out you hate it, that is fine! Your major should be a subject you are passionate about and can get good grades in, not something that you chose in high school or will “guarantee” you a good job (although, its also okay if your major is all of the above).
  5. Taking full notes on a topic before the lecture. If you are going to the lecture with a ton of info already, it is easier to get distracted or to feel like you don’t need the lectures at all. Instead, take notes in the lecture and then supplement them with notes from readings or bonus material rather than the opposite way.

Textbooks

  1. Buying textbooks online. I definitely think that buying textbooks online can be a good idea, but sometimes it is just easier to buy them from the bookstore. For example, if you are not sure if a site is legit/the book will come in time/its the right edition, etc. it might just be safer to get it in person or buy it used on campus from an upper year. (Remember, you can probably sell it next year!)
  2. Buying old editions of textbooks. If you have the two books side by side and can tell that they are very similar, go for it. But often times, two different editions are totally different and can just mess you up. Science and math books often have different practice questions, and even in social sciences and humanities, the content can change drastically in one edition.

Lifestyle/Personal

  1. Buying extra storage and furnishing for your dorm. Make sure you do a virtual room tour or talk to someone about the layout before you buy a ton of storage. Most dorm rooms that I have been in have a ton of storage (mine has a closet, a huge desk, shelves to the ceiling, a dresser, and cabinets for extra storage). You don’t want to show up with way too much stuff.
  2. Keeping 1000 things in your backpack. If you live on campus, you don’t actually need to carry every single thing on earth in your bag. It will get annoying carrying around a heavy backpack while walking. Unless you are going to the library for a huge study sesh or can’t make it back to your room all day, pack lightly!
  3. Avoiding wearing “freshman clothes”. No one cares what you are wearing. People often wear pajamas or just track pants and a baggy t-shirt to class or the caf. If you like dressing up, that’s great! But don’t feel like certain clothes are off limits.
  4. Living at home meaning you aren’t independent. Posts that look down upon living at home or going to your home university are garbage posts in my opinion. Being able to live away from home is a privilege, and many people are not financially, physically, or emotionally able to do that. If you are living at home, do not feel bad about it. You are still an adult and you are still independent.

Hope this helps reduce some rising freshman anxiety! And remember, if you do want to follow any of the original tips, that is okay too. :)

Creating Titles

Anonymous asked: “How do you come up with a title for you story or novel?”

In my experience, titles for stories are something writers often go into a project knowing. I wouldn’t say this is always true, though many great titles from authors I’ve asked simply just popped into their heads - or that’s what they claim anyway. I believe it. It seems like such a minor thing after all, so why would anyone lie?

I also have talked to writers who struggle with titles. For me, it’s hit or miss. Some projects just have a title. Others don’t. I once titled something so terribly that all of my readers asked me to change it, almost unanimously. It wasn’t that bad of a title, but it wasn’t particularly great either. I ended up changing it to something that I didn’t particularly care for, but after awhile now, I know that is a much better title. There are a few ways to come up with titles.

AUs and Prompts List

So I just gathered some prompts and AUs that I really like. Take your pick!

  1. Imagine your OTP exchanging gifts for the first time during the holidays, maybe both a little nervous that the other won’t like their gift. It turns out that neither has any reason to be anxious; both love the other’s gift and kisses are exchanged along with each present.

  2. Imagine person A of your OTP relentlessly flirting with B in public, just to see B blush.

  3. Imagine your OTP studying together, and for every question answered right, somebody has to take off a piece of clothing.

  4. Imagine Person A keeps having nightmares about Person B. They don’t know what disturbs them more— how scary the dreams are, or how arousing they are.

  5. Person A has given up on love. Nope. Love is not for them. Forget that…. And then they meet person B and think; “Annnd this is the asshole who will ruin everything.”

  6. Imagine your OTP is wrestling over the remote.

  7. Imagine Person A of your OTP seeing Person B with bed hair for the first time, and being totally blown away by how cute/hot/etc. they look with their hair being a huge mess. Bonus: if Person A gets flustered when Person B pokes fun at them for liking it.

  8. Imagine your OTP intertwining their fingers together while they’re in bed.

  9. Imagine your OTP have a morning class together and person A always walks in late and has obviously just woken up and person B thinks that the grumpy person who sits in front of him is the cutest thing ever.

  10. Person A leaving thigh hickeys on person B.

  11. Imagine your OTP stuck in an elevator after they’ve had a fight.

  12. Imagine your OTP getting in a fight and one of them yelling that they love the other one and then it gets really quiet.
  13. Imagine person A of your OTP scaring person B (during Halloween) on accident so badly that they cry.

  14. Imagine your OTP cuddling under a blanket on a cold winter night. Person A gently wrapping their arms around Person B and lightly kissing down their neck making Person B shiver from something other than the cold outside.

  15. Imagine your OTP running into each other under the mistletoe. Person A blushes and goes to suggest that they don’t have to kiss but Person B cuts them off with a kiss.

  16. Imagine person A of your OTP wearing person B’s clothes.

  17. Imagine person A walking out of the bathroom after a shower, half-naked and wreathed in steam, and B immediately dropping whatever they were holding. Bonus if it’s an animal which gives them the stink eye before slinking away.

  18. Imagine your OTP as teachers at the same school who are always flirting and have their students shipping them without realizing it.

  19. Imagine person A of your OTP coming home from the gym all sweaty. Person B sees this and gets instantly turned on.

  20. Imagine your OTP moving in together. They’re unpacking each other’s boxes when they find, ah, interesting things they didn’t know the other person owned.

  21. Imagine your OTP finding fanfic of each other, either separately or together. Alternately, imagine Person A writing fanfic of them and Person B finding it/finding out about it, or they both write it and find each other’s.

  22. Imagine your OTP waking up at the same time for a midnight snack and Person B scares Person A on accident.

  23. Imagine your OTP living together. The air conditioner breaks during the hottest week of summer and your OTP has to figure out how to stay cool. Alternately, the heating breaks during the coldest week of winter and your OTP has to figure out how to stay warm.

  24. Imagine your OTP not having enough blankets for both of them and sharing. It takes some doing, but they settle comfortably into each other’s arms and fall asleep listening to each other’s heartbeat, smelling their hair, feeling the rise and fall of their breath. The next morning, they’re still in the same position.

  25. Imagine your OTP living in a dorm. Person A thinks that person B is kinda cute, but otherwise doesn’t feel much for them. Person A goes to borrow a textbook from person B and walks in on person B in their pajamas with their hair all messed up and person A thinks it’s the cutest thing ever.

  26. Imagine person B of your otp uses person A as a pillow.

  27. Imagine person A of your otp goes to a bookstore and spends hours just looking at books and person B sees them and falls in love with how passionate they are and how geeky they are.

  28. Imagine person A of your otp is reading a book late at night and person B can’t sleep so they ask person A to read to them so person A starts reading out loud and a few minutes later person B is completely knocked out and person A gives them a kiss on their forehead.

  29. Imagine Persons A and B of your OTP both go to a private school. Person A is really studious and innocent, like never been kissed type thing. In contrast, Person B got kicked out of their old school for sleeping with a teacher. One day Person B sees Person A in the hall and decides that ‘corrupting’ Person A will be their personal mission this school year. Up to you whether or not they succeed.

  30. Imagine person A of your otp is waiting at a restaurant for their date and is obviously being stood up and person B notices this, just before person A gets sick of waiting and gets up to leave person B sits with them, and even though they aren’t who person A was waiting for they end up having a lot of fun and hooking up.

  37. “Now or Never kiss” au.

  38. Being on the brink of admitting their feelings for each other but then getting interrupted.

  39. Both of them being the best friends that everyone just assumes is a couple and no one is even surprised when they announce they’re official because 'wtf do you mean you weren’t before?’

- loses track of time when he’s with you and gets scolded by the other members for coming late to practice
- when you share food, he always lets you have the last piece
- tells mingyu all about you who pats you on the head and thanks you for making his best friend so happy
- but then wonwoo sees mingyu pat you on the head and gets so protective of you after that
- like he gives any member the look if he sees them get too close to you and they cower away lmao
- wonwoo is shy so he doesn’t say “i love you” very often
- but just know that he really, really does
- there are different ways to show someone you love them
- when he asks you about your day, if you’ve eaten; when he sacrifices sleep to go see you, when he hugs you tightly after not seeing you in a while or anything of the sort
- that’s how wonwoo tells you he loves you
- “you know what, (name)?”
- “what wonwoo”
- “you’re my won and only”
- “…ok that one’s pretty good”

rorochan92  asked:

Cassie, I'm so sorry, but some 'fans' are sharing a lot of LoS spoilers and snippets here on Tumblr - and on Twitter, too. What do you think that we should do to avoid them?

This does happen, even with books that are embargoed. There’s always a bookstore or a website that doesn’t comply with the embargo and sends the book out early. After all these years I’ve come to accept this as inevitable.

I am against spoilers, as you know — I think they ruin the experience of reading a book. I think if you’re going to post spoilers, no one can stop you, but please — don’t tag your spoilers with anything that will bring unwary fans to your page (”TDA” “Lord of Shadows”) and please put the spoilers under a cut.

If you are trying to avoid spoilers (and I hope you are) — blacklist “los spoilers” and “lord of shadows spoilers” as tags. If you can’t blacklist and you see someone spoiling, ask them politely to put their spoilers under a tag. If you see someone spoiling on Twitter, mute them for the next week.

Some people like being spoiled — I never understand why because information about a book out of context can give you the completely opposite impression or idea of what actually happens in a book (say someone is reading the book and tells you Emma murders Julian*; maybe you if you read it, you’d find out a few paragraphs later that was all an illusion, or faked or a dream: but if you came across that as a spoiler you’ll never know and it may well influence you to never read the book.) Also, you’ll get their take on what happened, which wouldn’t necessarily be yours: I’ve already seen some spoilers that to me don’t seem to bear any resemblance to what happens in the book at all. :-(

Spoilers are part of the internet, and we’re all kind of stuck with them: all we can do is politely ask people who are spoiling to make sure they’re only spoiling people who want to be spoiled. I would be desperately unhappy if someone prevented me from experiencing a book (or movie) the way it’s supposed to be experienced by telling me beforehand what happened. There’s a reason they’re called spoilers, because they spoil/ruin the experience of reading for many, many people: please just do your best to make sure that in your eagerness to talk about a new book you’re not wrecking anyone else’s enjoyment of the experience.

How can I get into art? Like, I am into art, but how can I learn about it?

In many ways!  The first I would suggest would be to go to your local museum (if you have one).  Most museums offer tours (sometimes free), so take one!  Alternatively, you can walk around and read the plaques, or get an audio guide, if they have them.

Next, use the internet to your advantage!

  • I know Wikipedia is “untrustworthy” but I think it’s a really great source, especially for just finding stuff out.  Look up your favorite artist or your favorite painting and just read about them, and then click all the links and read those articles too.  Some other online resources:
  • Khan Academy - we used this in my art history class last year.  It goes along with the AP course curriculum, but it has way more than just that.  They have fantastic videos and articles about all types of art, and they’re very interesting and informative.  They also have lots of other topics, but I’ve never really explored anything aside from art history
  • Google Culture - this is new, and I haven’t really looked at it, but @asteriaria recently told me about it and it seems awesome!  You can explore artists, eras, exhibits, etc.! Just to show you, I took a few screenshots of my favorite era/painter, and they have exhibits from different museums, articles, the works, a timeline of all the artists of different eras together, etc… It’s amazing.
  • The Met’s Heilbrunn Timeline of Art History - I’ve read a few articles from this and it’s fantastic.  The Met has an amazing collection and all of it is catalogued online, so you can simply read the little plaques that they have at the museum, or you could read the articles they’ve posted about them!  They have countless essays (and I recently heard at my orientation that the Met has some two million works, most of which are catalogued online).  It’s almost as good as going, I think!

Also I would certainly suggest going to your local library or bookstore and looking for some books.  There are so many authors and topics to look at that I couldn’t really name a specific one that gives you a good overview and isn’t a textbook … but Janson’s History of Art is pretty good, though it only covers Western art.

If you have any more questions, please come and ask!!  Especially if you want to know where to find more about a specific era or topic :)

so how did it go? how did you propose? how did she? did you use that song from the flash?

Well.

I took her and her family to the children’s bookstore we went to together the first day she told me she loved me, and I had her kid sister distract her until four of our closest friends got there, and she cried the moment she saw them because she knew…

I held her for a long time, and when she was ready, I read her the comic that I wrote and the wonderful @cassiebones illustrated. It was so intimate that I honestly forgot anyone was there but she and I, that anyone else existed in the multiverse… and I had practiced the night before getting down on one knee and taking out the ring box without a hitch, and if I do say so myself, I accomplished it smoothly af… she cried more, and I was shaking, and I kissed her hand, and I told her how much I love her, how I want to dedicate my life to making her happy every day, every night, and every moment in between, and she is my angel, and will she please do me the honor of marrying me?

According to our friends, she said yes like four times, and I had to ask which hand to put the ring on and everyone laughed and we kissed and one of my best friends was hilarious and everyone was crying and I just…. it was amazing.

And then two nights ago, she gave me my ring, and I turned on Running Home to You from The Flash, and she got down on her knee to give my ring to me… it was perfect, and I cried that time.

So…. yeah!!!!!! <3 <3 <3 <3

ACOTAR and TOG headcannons af

If you haven’t read all the books then move along bc spoilers and shit:

-Feyre teaching Rhysand to paint and at first he’s all innuendos and smirks but he gets solemn when he sees how passionate and serious Feyre is abt it and turns out to be a moderately good painter

-Feyre and Rhysand having intense discussions and opinions on books they’ve read (and Rhysand being so joyful that Feyre loves reading so much now) going out to bookstores in Velaris and choosing books they think the other will enjoy

-Aelin doing the same with Rowan, continuing their music lesson from Rifthold, and playing the piano for him after both of them have had a long day.

-Aelin and Rowan trying to figure out how to ACTUALLY make a chocolate hazelnut cake and getting v messy in the process (end up having a huge makeout session in which they both taste like chocolate js)

-GAVRIEL!!! WITH!!! EVANGELINE!!! CAN WE JUST!!! THE FLUFF AND GENTLENESS THAT WOULD ENSUE!!! Also Aedion seeing how much Gavriel genuinely cares for everyone he meets and deciding that maybe he’s not so bad after all (sshh don’t tell anyone) (Everyone knows but still)

- Fenrys and Asterin having cute tiny fierce witchlings and ASTERIN GETTING WHAT SHE WANTS BC SHE DESERVES SO MUCH

-Elain and Azriel being friendship goals bc why tf not and playing chess together and him letting her win bc she’s shit at it and he has the advantage of his shadows telling him what moves she’s gonna make (One time Rhysand beats her easily knowing she’s shit and Azriel gives him hell for it)

-Despite what she said to him, Elide really does feel the safest with Lorcan and although he knows she’s not gonna forgive him any time soon, he offers to teach her how to read and Elide tolerates him (He acts as if he’s a brute teacher and all tbh he is but he defo goes easy on her) (Also one time she complains abt how hard he is on her and Fenrys hears her) (Fenrys accidentally walks in on him teaching her and is fuCKING FLOORED bc tf does she mean by him being hard on her like he’s hard ofc….but for smth else)

-Cassian going to musical performances and theatres with Nesta like he did with Feyre and he jokes about Nesta being soft but inside he’s happy af that Nesta finds joy in these things (also later finds out that she has an amazing singing voice)

That’s it for now also I use the word AF a lot lol bye

Gay people used to have their own bookstores and cafes but what happened was capitalism. Do you go to a local coffeeshop or do you get Starbucks? Do you buy your books from Amazon or Barnes&Noble instead of looking for a small business? This is why all those places disappeared. Most LGBT centers have gay choirs, though, they're just not skewed young to the queer community.

GOOD POINT ANON! There are few Gay Bookstores left, A LOT have gone out of business in the last few years. They all sell books, movies, gay flags, etc. and almost all of them are now combined with something else to survive: bookstore + coffee shop, bookstore + sex shop, bookstore + art shop, gay books + feminist/women’s books. Almost of all them have free dating nights, parties, book readings, book signings and other events where you can meet lesbian and gay people. Follow them on FB, IG and Twitter to keep up with their events. If you can’t actually go to any of these stores, please support them by ordering something from them online. We need to keep our places open!

Kiss in a Bookstore

Prompt: Tim X Reader where they meet at a Barnes and Noble or other bookstore with a cafe, and really hit it off. So Tim finds reasons to keep going back to see the reader when they come back. He’s really awkward when asking them on a date and they find it adorable. Also please make it fluffy. I hope you like this request.

Words: 252

You hide your smile behind your book. After six weeks of sitting and reading together, you can’t help but think that you know Timothy rather well. When he’s nervous he fiddles his fingers together, when he’s completely lost in a book he furrows his brow, and when he talks passionately about something his eyes light up.

So the fact that all these things were now playing a role in his mannerisms, told you everything you needed to know. You take a moment to compose yourself before you set down the book, and focus on him.

He stutters through the first half of his speech, and then his eyes screw shut and he blurts out, “Would you like to go out for dinner tomorrow night?”

He says it a bit loud for the quiet of the bookstore. Loud enough the people are now staring. The minute his eyes flash open he takes in all the looks and turns bright red. He’s just so cute, you want to kiss him!

So, you do. You reach across the table, grab him by the shirt and kiss him square on the mouth. The two of you fall into the kiss until someone let’s out a whistle, that has the two of you pulling apart.

You simply say, “I would love to go out tomorrow night. Meet here at six?”

He just nods, with this dopey little grin on his face. You blow him one more kiss, before grabbing your book and walking to the cash register.

Kurt Wagner Headcanons

Hello! I’m finally done writing these, I hope you enjoy them! Shortly after I post these I will post the list of things I am planning on writing. Feel free to request :)

-Kurt is very religious, you have to take things slow with him, considering this would be his first with just kissing and even hugging. He is uncomfortable at first, but he learns to love it. Before long he cuddles you every time he gets the chance.

-He always makes sure that you feel comfortable with whatever you two are doing together saying things like “Are you sure this is alright with you?” also “I don’t want to make you feel awkward for doing this”. Kurt is such a gentleman and constantly puts your needs before his.

-You love showing Kurt around to your favorite spots in town, even if it is just something small like an ice cream shop. He loves experiencing and learning about American culture with you.

-Him always bamfing you to some of his favorite places whenever he wants to surprise you.

-Walking to the bookstore and him telling you about his favorite books. Looking in the isles and seeing so many options, you two end up buying a numerous amount of books the pair of you can hardy carry them. You two end up going to a coffee shop and reading one, discussing your favorite authors and what is happening in the book you are reading.

-Kurt tends to need continual reassurance, he gets depressed about the way he looks often. Even though you want him to be confident and see him how you do, it will take him some time to have that faith in himself.

-He takes a liking to slow dancing, though he has no clue how to. One day Kurt randomly asked you if you could teach him, and slowly he became one of the best slow dancers you know.

-When he gets nervous he will gently reach out for your hand, sometimes not even noticing he does it. You softly grasp his hand back and tell him everything is going to be alright.

-He will often compliment you often in German, usually due to him not being able to think of the English words to say or not wanting to mess up. It is often about how ambitious, smart, and bright you are. Additionally the normal “Ich liebe dich”

-Also will revert to German when he is nervous, or thinks too much.

-Kurt always makes sure everyone at the school feels accepted, if he sees anyone that looks upset he will usually ask them what is wrong. Secretly he knows all of the school drama from this but never tells anyone, and from his experience he has a lot of wisdom and is good at giving advice.

-If you ever can’t reach something he will just pick you up so you can get what you were searching for.

-Calls you things like Schatz and Liebling, and occasionally blushes at himself in doing so.

-You once heard him say “Du bist die Liebe meines Lebens” before you fell asleep, and you were confused because you didn’t know what it meant. You asked around, but nobody knew German at the school. So one day you decided to ask Kurt, “Oh my, I didn’t think you heard that. It means ‘you are the love of my life’, Liebling” He was embarrassed profoundly, but you reassured him that you loved him that much too. Kurt was so shocked, he smiled widely, picked you up, spun you around and kissed you.
