or did they just use the same stars

Three SERIOUSLY UNDERRATED Movies I just watched recently:

1. Strange Magic

A work by freaking Lucasfilm/George Lucas himself!

Did not expect it to be a musical, very much cringe worthy—but once you look past that, this movie has stunningly beautiful animation!

Not to mention the plot is actually kind of interesting. THIS coming from the same man who brought us STAR WARS and we know how well those relationships work out half of the time *cough* Anidala *cough*—but it is a movie ENTIRELY about LOVE! I kid you not.

Though a few places are indeed very very much a cringe, other parts have me squealing like a fangirl! I wish I would have heard about it sooner!

2. Epic

So I guess 2013-2014 were just the years to have stunning visual animation for forest-related characters, in movies that both basically flop in the box office.

Epic was a little slow at times, but it was funny, unique, and had a few very memorable characters!

I will not lie to you, I am a sucker for ships, and Ronin and Queen Tara never cease to make my heart ache for a whole week after I watch this movie. T_T If you watch for nothing else, at least enjoy the beautiful visuals, A-list voice acting cast, and the FRICKING relationship between the Queen and the most badass guy in this whole movie!

3. Book of Life

So, aside from slamming me with the crippling nostalgia of watching El Tigre on Nickelodeon as a kid, this movie is witty, gorgeous, and (again unfortunately) more of a musical than I typically look for.

STILL! I cannot believe it took me THIS long to watch it! It was fun, exciting, and busted all sorts of chops for various people and stereotypes.

Plus, the fandom for this movie is ridiculously awesome! Jorge R. Gutierrez is very open with the fans with his info/rumors of sequels, and the voice cast nearly killed me. Channing Tatum was one thing, but DIEGO LUNA is the main character!  We’re talking Cassian Andor with more than 5 lines of dialogue and a leading role! ❤ ❤ ❤

And let me tell you about La Muerte and Xibalba—the OTP I didn’t know existed or that I needed in my life—their personalities are so different from what I was expecting and I love everything this movie did to make me think vs what I saw.

Plus it is produced by Guillermo Del Toro—I’ve been seeing his name so much recently—seriously, what does this guy not do!?

So those are the 3. This is just my opinions of things based on recent exposure to the films, and they aren’t the best movies I’ve ever seen by far, but they were enough to be exciting and they definitely deserve more love than they were given! —or at least more exposure so it didn’t take me this long to watch…

Sandy. I think you'll agree with me, re: that Moffat quote. But doesn't it feel like he did the same crap with Mary that he pulled with Clara on Dr Who? Make her the star of the show even though SHE WASN'T, and just expect us to fall all over her because "oh! She's so cute and perky and omg she makes SOUFFLÉS!" (Bakes own bread??) ugh moffat needs to stop writing women into his shows. He doesn't know what to do with them.

YES Heather. I 100% agree. I LIKED Clara at first, and then he kept writing her more and more unbelievably, making his “dream girl” and she became the focus of the show and I completely lost interest.

If you want a show about Clara or Mary, then write The Clara or Mary show. Doctor Who is supposed to be about The Doctor and Sherlock is supposed to be about John Watson and Sherlock Holmes. The second they made the show about Mary it lost it’s way. TST was SO FUCKING BORING. I still can’t believe Mary got a backstory and we still don’t know shit about John! I spent the whole episode checking my watch wondering when it was going to end. That is not the sign of good TV writing.

I’m truly trying to get over this shit show, but I’m still SO FUCKING MAD. I still can’t believe we went from TAB to TST. I still can’t believe TFP exists. God it was so bad. And I know people liked TLD, I HATED what they did to John and thought it was riddled with the same plot holes that the whole season suffered from. I literally cannot stand to rewatch ANY of S4.

And I’m sorry, this got really long. But yes, Heather I agree with you ;-)

KaiSoo and ‘heart shape’

Jongin answering a question that was meant for Kyungsoo (2015 radio show - CMB era)

Jongin was asked to draw Kyungsoo (2015 Japan fansign), and he drew him with 3 hearts (we c u jongin). If I’m not mistaken, he said the hearts on Kyungsoo’s hands were supposed to be “V-sign”. Dunno what the heart on the chest/neck area tho…

Jongin gave his signature to a fan. Look who got included inside the heart shape…. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

A fan asked Jongin to draw penguin during ex'act fansign, so he did (draw it next to his face lips). Okay, this might be me being delulu as usual (lel) but that penguin has a heart-shaped beak. Just look at dem curves (the top part of the beak).

Kyungsoo was drawing Jongin next to him on ‘Star Show 360’ (recorded on 160823) and he used the same hear-shape as his for Jongin’s lips.

Jongin’s drawing of himself (161005) – dem lips doe (it’s similar to Kyungsoo’s drawing).

(not related to KD but….) Jongin also drew Monggu with heart shapes (idk what monggu’s gender so i’m gonna assume it as “him” *monggu got triggered*) as his ears.  I guess Jongin only draws heart for the things he loves (❛ᴗ❛)  *coughsomeone with initial DKScough*

Posting this separately so it doesn’t get lost (because oh, Tumblr). For @dainesanddaffodils, re: this post about Perc’ahlia stargazing.

The North Star was the North Star for both of them, but very little else was the same.

Vex had learned some of the stars from her mother, but the formal, unimaginative education she received from her father had little time for such fancies as astronomy. She and Vax, as they so often did, had to make their own way. They learned enough of the night sky to navigate and orient, and in the process, they gave their markers their own idiosyncratic names. Vax kept suggesting ridiculous things just to tweak her nose. Vex secretly named a constellation after Trinket, and told no one but the bear.

She was so used to her own understanding of the sky, in fact, that when Percy idly pointed out a constellation one night, the unfamiliar reference startled her.

“We’re definitely getting on toward winter,” he said, gesturing with one long finger. “The Hunter’s coming around again.”

“What?” Vex asked, peering up. He wasn’t wrong about the generalities, at least; she recognized  late-season patterns in the sky, although she wasn’t about to tell Percy about Vax’s rather single-entendre labels for most of them. “Which one’s the Hunter?”

“You don’t know? I’m surprised. There, see—those four stars mark out his belt, and you can see the shape of the arms and legs, a little.”

“Oh.” Vex squinted, studying it. She supposed she could see that, although it took some imagination. “I used to call that the Chalice. The line for the belt was one side of the cup. Tilt your head the other way.”

“Hmm. Different constellations? I never read about that one.”

Vex’s lips twitched upward into a smile. “Trust you to have learned it all from books.”

“Where else? I studied charts, read all the myths. Or at least I thought I had.’

Vex laughed softly. They were standing shoulder to shoulder now, the cold night air making them both huddle up deep within their respective coats. She sidled just a little closer. “None of this was written down. It was just…between me and my brother, is all.”

Percy, his eyebrows lifting, turned to study her. Vex chose to blame her blush on the sting of the wind, and tossed her hair, deliberately uncaring. “We were inventive,” she told him. “And it served us just fine.”

“I’m sure it did.” His tone went slightly goading. “But you wouldn’t have heard about the Archer, then.”

“The what?”

She lifted her chin, watching Percy adjust his spectacles. A glint of pale light shone off the glass. “Look north-northeast,” he advised, “and a few degrees up from the mountains.”

Vex followed his guide. There, not so far from the vaguely bear-shaped cluster she’d picked out as a child, was a matrix of stars in no real shape that she could identify, at least at first. Percy pointed. “Do you see the arc and the line, just there? Tilt your head my way, you should be able to make it out.”

She did, bumping her head gently against his shoulder. “Do you see it?” he asked.

Vex, who was still picking out patterns, found herself distracted by the warmth of his voice so close to her ear. She hummed low in her throat. “Tell me more about it,” she said, prevaricating.

“Well. It was named after a woman of legend, typically over-accomplished in the way these things go, admired by all who knew her. But she had no intent of settling down for any suitor. She was more interested in the hunt, and in being free from all the expectations of society.”

“I’m liking this girl already.”

“She was known for her skill in archery, and it was said she could hit any target,” Percy went on. “So she took a bet one night, perhaps a foolhardy one, because her one known weakness was the temptation of gold…”

Vex turned just far enough to eye him. Percy might have smirked, just a little, but he kept on nevertheless.

“Her competitor tricked her. The bet was for the highest and furthest target, and he’d rigged the targets so that his could be seen to fall, but hers did not.”

“Did she put the next arrow through his eye?” Vex said, quirking an eyebrow. “After that, he’d deserve it.”

Percy chuckled. “No. But once she realized what he’d done, she went from feeling shamed to vowing she’d prove her superior skill to everyone. So she nocked another arrow and aimed it up at the sky. And while everyone watched, she shot so high she pierced one of the stars themselves, and it came plummeting back to earth as proof.”

“Good for her. Did it crush the cheating bastard? I hope it did.”

He grinned. “It might have.”

“And did she get the gold she was promised?”

“All the gold and more.”

Vex nodded in satisfaction. “I suppose naming the stars after you is a worthy enough prize. Along with proper payment, of course.”

“Indeed.” He pointed again. “See the shape of it? She’s taking aim. And where her arrow’s pointed—that’s Astira and Ocian marking out the shaft—there’s a little patch of void between the stars. It’s where the falling star used to be.” He leaned close again. “Do you see it now?”

Vex smiled softly. She did, if she tried. It was no different from the other constellations she used to invent, after all: a pattern of light, a spark, and a story, and there it was. She let her head rest against Percy’s shoulder once more.

“I think so,” she said. “And I like it.”

“But Percy…”

He made a small, inquisitive sound. She lifted her gaze to his again and teasingly asked, “Did you make that up just to humor me?”

It was quiet for a moment, out there in the chill. At last Percy smiled in a very Percy sort of way and admitted, “Well, I don’t have my books with me to prove it. So who’s to say?”

Vex poked him, and she laughed, but she also didn’t stop him when his arm came around to hold her. “Someday we’ll have to have our own marksmanship contest,” he said, while Vex contentedly nestled in against his side.

“You know I’ll win.”

“Oh, I’m betting on it.”

Vex smiled as she felt him kiss her brow. And in that moment, all the stars seemed to shine just a little bit brighter, all throughout the winter sky.

Axl interview 1991

“People want something, and they want it as soon as they can get it,” Rose says. “Needy people. And I’m the same way, but I want it to be right - I don’t want it to be half-assed. The lyrics “I hope the sun shines and it’s a beautiful day and something reminds you, you wish you had stayed, you can plan for a change in weather and time but I never planned on you changing your mind” will always hit me like a bus full of emotions.

Can we talk about how The Force Awakens is a reflection of our generation? We have these new characters who grew up with the tales of the original heroes, just like we did. The original trilogy was made for our parents but this new trilogy is for us. Rey admires Han Solo and thought of Luke Skywalker as a legend. Poe Dameron’s idol is Leia Organa. These characters grew up with the same stories we did, they look up to these heroes just like we do. The new star wars is a reflection of our generation. We can truly relate to these new heroes because we see ourselves in them.

starry sky tutorial bc i’m bored and can’t sleep

this is going to be a long post btw. I just draw backrounds too often and wanted to make use out of one.

first of all, you should use the full version of paint tool sai  i don’t remember how limited the trial was

lower the density on the brush tool and stoke sevral large smudges preferably blue and purple colors.

go over those strokes with a few other colors  try to mix black in until everything looks blurred and smudged

it should look like this or similar

now add a layer and poke a bunch of dots all over for stars in pen or airbrush. this takes a long time but it should look like stars

use varying densities, and change how hard the brush is every so often. use colors such as light pinks, blues and yellows  add in some stray strokes if you want

now make a new layer and do the same you did with the first. just with smaller brushes and more pastel colors

it should look like this after a minute a two.

stretch it out and put it on luminosity or lumi and shade depending on what mood you’re setting (top left corner under paints effect)

add some random stars and sparkles if you want and that’s pretty much it!

I was just tired but wanted to to a short tutorial so I hope this can be helpful!

It’s been a long year
Since we last spoke
How’s your halo?
Just between you and I
You and me and the satellites
I never believed you
I only wanted to
Before all of this
What did I miss?
Do you ever get homesick?
I can’t get used to it
I can’t get used to it
I’ll never get used to it
I’ll never get used to it

I’m under that night
I’m under those same stars
We’re in a red car
You asleep at my side
Going in and out of the headlights

Could I have saved you?
Would that’ve betrayed you?
I wanna burn this film
You alone with those pills
What you couldn’t do I will
I forgive you
I’ll forgive you
I’ll forgive you
I forgive you

“They say our reactions tell us who we are but it was never supposed to be like this. Someone like me just doesn’t fall for someone like him…but I did and now I’m in so deep there is no way back”.

My notes: Secretly good guy Draco is in love with Hermione, while pretending to hate her. I can’t say it was the same as Captivating Captivity (listed below), but it did feel the same. Different story, same tone.

And actually, watched the promo for Doomworld too, and…if Mick realizes that quickly that it was a mistake, then they’re clearly not keeping him a villain after this, which I was legit worried about. So then…are they also gonna bring back Len? As in, season 1 Len? Cause it sure looks like Mick’s gonna save all their asses AGAIN, so I feel like they’d more than owe it to him to use the Spear and bring back Len - which is kinda nice, cause I feel like their character developments have kinda evened out. Len got a lot in season 1, and Mick was just kinda there, but didn’t get explicit development, but now he’s actively choosing the Legends and being a hero over what actually looks kinda like the world of Star City 2046. Something of a direct foil to that episode, only now he’s actually making the same decision Len did in that episode - their friends over power and chaos (although I doubt that kind of world is really the kind of thing Len would’ve preferred anyway, just based on how I read his character, but that’s beside the point).

They’re on an even keel, so I think it’d be interesting to see how they adapt to this new situation where both of them are definitely on the hero side via their own fairly independent storylines (although, really, Mick was ready to sacrifice himself, too, last season - the team seems to conveniently forget that, and the fact he’s been as much a hero since then. Len just beat him to dying).

And on a side note, but I can also see Rip still making some snide comment about Mick’s intelligence because, well, he did it last episode. So I’d die happy if someone from the team (not Len, even though in my ideal version of this story, he would definitely be back by this point) just punched him. Really hard. Or if they all took turns. But especially if it’s someone Rip wouldn’t expect - Ray, maybe. Or Jax. Or STEIN. (Oh god if it was Stein I’d actually die of happiness). But basically as opposed to Sara, who I can see punching anyone who pisses her off. Ah, I need that. Rip’s had it coming to him.

Caught Up in You - Chapter 1: Genesis (AKA the Not Unless Sam Says prequel)

(that’s right, kids. It’s happening.)

Summary: How it all started.

Characters: Sam, Dean, You

Pairing: Sam/Reader

Warning: porn with plot, sam masturbates, reader masturbates, references to Led Zeppelin, Sword of Truth, Star Wars, Neil Young, and Gwen Steffani, I can’t believe I just used a tag with ‘Gwen Steffani’ in a SPN fic (but I did), more tags to be added as the fic progresses.

Notes: Honestly, I’ve been dabbling with this for about a year. All of you (along the fabulously fabulous @ladyataralasse  who beta’d this for me - praise her skills!) were on board, so here it is.

With my previous multi-chaptered fics, I always hoped to update once a week. However, recently, things have changed in my life (good changes) so I can’t promise the same sort of schedule. Please, bear with me, and I swear that I’ll update as often and as quickly as I can. :)

Chapter 1: Genesis

Wednesdays were Sam’s day to get out of the bunker. A dusty little used-bookstore-slash-café on the corner of Nothing and Nowhere was Sam’s favorite place to go, and he loved it.

With his usual drink – a café Americano with an extra shot and a hint of nutmeg – he sat at his usual table with his back to the wall, so that he could see the entire coffee shop, but he never really looked. Sam buried his nose in his book and never paid more attention to his surroundings than he had to.

But one day, that changed.

fic rec friday

Topic of the Day: Star Trek AUs. Because I am tired and predictable and just want to keep reading Star Trek fic. And these exist and make me happy :) Of course there are a bunch of others out there I’m sure. Here is my last Sci-Fi rec list, too.

Walking in a Winter Wonderland - T - 3.5k - luninosity

Starship Captain Charles Xavier grew up on a lonely space station and has never seen snow. Executive Officer Erik Lehnsherr is very good at strategic planning, surprises, and kissing Charles. Plus there’s a starship named after Charles Darwin, new uses for Erik’s espionage past, and the possibility of lizard people.

Note: this is so good. the dynamic between all the characters works so well and fits the world and :)

It’s Only Xenobiology, Darling - G - .6k - brilligspoons

Prompt: Starfleet!AU - Human!Erik thinks Charles is the worst Vulcan ever. In which Erik is distressed by a Vulcan shaking hands with him and then very blatantly inviting him to *cough* observe his nocturnal habits. (Takes place in the 2009 movie timeline.)

Notes: this is short and sweet and perfect. Charles is amazing and the whole set up is very well executed.

sensory deprivation for drones - E - 3k - ninemoons42

There is a ship, and it’s far away from its system of origin, and one of the things that it needs to do to get home is cross a nebula that emits powerful poisonous radiation.

Luckily, there is one crew member who can live in these deadly conditions, at least in the physical sense - so everyone else puts their lives in his hands.

Now, the question is, can he survive with his mind intact?

Notes: There’s so much great worldbuilding and character insight in here and some lovely heartfelt smut to top it off!

Star-Crossed (part 2)

Summary: At the close of the war, Lucy and her comrades must bid Natsu a tearful goodbye.

Pairing: NaLu

Genre: Romance

Words: 3543

Read Part I HERE!

Note: This came out not way different but enough that I was surprised. Especially with how long it ended up beinglol. This is a sort of continuation, sort of its own story. I think it can stand on its own just fine but please feel free to read the other part. This is mostly the same scene that we experienced with Natsu last time but from Lucy’s POV. I added a bit extra in the surrounding bits. And gave it happy ending because I can.

Part II

“We actually did it.” The words were light on her lips, filled with the relief she felt in her aching body. “We actually…won.” It had been a war where the odds were against them from the first moment, catastrophe awaiting them on all fronts. They were terrified but they used that fear to fuel themselves, to fight with their entire beings, soul and all, until they were unable to stand. And even then, they continued on, relentless and unyielding as they had ever been. It was who they were.

And though it had been a fool’s mission, a gamble where the odds of winning were virtually nil, here they were, celebrating a grand victory – for Fairy Tail, for humanity and for each other.

She could see him, not too far off in the distance. He was straight ahead, his back to her, silhouetted by the rising the sun, practically glowing in the dawn of this exultant day. And he stood there in the brilliance of a new sun, tall and proud with a fist raised above his head and a guttural shout of victory rallying all those surrounding him – a portrait of absolute triumph.

Even she couldn’t believe he still had the strength to stand, to recognize all the victories that had come to fruition. He fought tirelessly for days, against Acnologia, against Zeref, against himself. And through it all, though his body remained hopelessly battered and bruised, his spirit came out unscathed. Incredible, as he had always been.

She could do nothing but admire him from her position just meters away. She barely had the energy to remain upright, she wanted nothing more than to lie down and revel in the reprieve they were at last graced with. But her resolute mind autonomous of her exhausted body caused her to lurch forward, steps sluggish but firm.

A smile was on her face as she began the most arduous walk of her life, pain radiating from her still oozing wounds with every step and every breath. But just like the young man who was in her direct line of vision, she would not relent for anything, especially when he was her ultimate destination.

But she could see it from where she was and the closer she got, the plainer it became. The loosening of his muscles, the slight drooping in his posture, the quivering in his legs and his labored breathing. She knew he was well past his limit, his body and mind completely drained of all reserves. But this was different and Lucy could sense it. Something was wrong.

And before he even began to collapse, she was yelling his name in a desperate rasp, sprinting forth with a hidden energy she didn’t think she had. The images and voices of their surrounding comrades fell from her attention, disappearing entirely as she was solely focused on him. Her mind could only see him and her heart ached for what she feared was to come. Time itself seemed to have slowed dramatically, flowing lazily like molten lava and destroying everything in its wake.

He hit the ground hard and graceless, unmoving save for the substantial heaving of his chest, body begging for air that it could not accept.

She was the first to make it to him, frantically but gently maneuvering him so she could see his face. He was coated in blood and sweat, she expected that much, but that poignant sense began to settle, weighing down her mind and her heart, drowning them in the sea that had become this dreadful realization.

He was dying.

King of Spiders

I don’t watch cartoons much anymore, but as a kid old Spider-Man reruns were some of my favorites, and just a few years back I happened to catch a few Spidey toons with the seemingly unlikely team including Nova, Iron Fist, White Tiger, and Luke Cage, directed by Nick Fury (?!).  When Infinity released a Spider-Man Play Set featuring many of the same characters, I was impressed that they could base one on an animated series (and later with 3.0, I did not initially realize that the first Star Wars Play Set was largely based on one as well).  With Infinity 3.0, I was also impressed when one of the Toys R Us cashiers told me that their top-selling independent Star Wars character was Ezra - not Yoda, not Obi-Wan Kenobi, but Ezra!

Consider a bunch of the present & future Disney XD series - Star Wars Rebels, Ultimate Spider-Man (soon Marvel’s Spider-Man), Guardians of the Galaxy, Rapunzel, Big Hero 6 - all of these are already represented in the Disney Infinity Toy Box.  For that matter, consider all of the Disney film sequels this year - Guardians of the Galaxy V2, Pirates of the Caribbean DMTNT, Cars 3, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Spider-Man Homecoming, Thor: Ragarok - all of the major heroes & many of the villains are already there in Infinity.

If your reboot business model was based on selling new figures, then you’d be out of luck.  But it’s not.  The reboot idea is based on a monthly subscription to an overall Toy Box Tale experience, created & played out by fans, where everyone has access to all of the characters.  This leverages all of that prior investment, where incremental updates to themes, new side characters, new villains & minions, etc. continue to build up the value of the Toy Box engine.  The Disney XD factor provides new buzz to those characters, and the Toy Box experience would provide buzz back.  Analytics over time on the collection of those Toy Boxes would provide further feedback on series popularity and individual character popularity (”Cognitive Care” & “Untapped Character” cards).

Toy Box TV & the Weekly Challenges directed the builders wherever the Disney Infinity marketing team wanted new content to go.  Primarily it provided buzz for Play Sets & characters, as that drove the revenue.  As a subscription-based digital experience, the rebooted Challenges can go anywhere - from storytelling in synch with various Disney XD series, Disney films, some new online update with new themes, new Creativi-Toys, newly enhanced game genre - wherever they want it to go.  Leveraging crowdsourcing for the vetting process (”Flagging Maleficence” card), fan-based downloads & likes can further drive a larger number of honorable mentions and a much larger number of games to play, stories to be told, especially with a Community Database that can search on current Challenge, Character Adventure, Theme, etc. to find them.

Combine that with a #Player1 insert to the Text Creator toy (where the name of player 1 is inserted into the text for replay value), and a new collector coin for various Skill Tree abilities.  Imagine a web-slinging character adventure for Spidey.  It can be a storyline of Toy Boxes that showcase different members of his young S.H.I.E.L.D. team.  As part of Spidey’s web-slinging game, there’s a collector coin that unlocks this Toy Box for all web-slingers.  That’s a new collection & replay caveat to mimic individual coins from the old Play Sets (without needing over a hundred of them), while recognizing the game design specific to a particular ability.  You could have collector coins for each special ability, and coins for the various brands of Disney/Pixar/Marvel/Star Wars, and “hide” one or more of them, depending on the design of the game.  You get a tighter storyline and a tighter game design with replay value, where having the full set of characters provides you the complete experience.

Ignore the point momentarily that my personal interest is the corporate citizenship side - the XD Factor for this digital, subscription-based reboot of the Toy Box makes it a very profitable, sustainable business case.
