On second thought. detonating the entire storehouse filled with whiskey and flammable liquids seemed like a good idea at the time. He’d been caught out trying to steal and since he wasn’t in his element. needed a game changer before that damn moonshiner took a shot with his own crossbow.
So he lit a match.
After the initial adrenaline and psychotic glee at outsmarting the brewer and killing him wore off. his laugh began to taper into a scream as he reached the apex of his flight arc. and began to plummet to the earth.
“AHAHAHAHAHAHAaAAAAAUUUUUGH! I’M TOO GOOD AT WHAT I DO TO DIE! AAAAUUUGHH!”
And with a CRACK and a CRUNCH of tree branches. multiple exclamations as a branch gave way and his decent continued. eventually. his crossbow’s sling got caught on a particularly sturdy branch. leaving him hanging around 25 feet from the ground.
“I’m alive? ….I’M ALIVE! HAHAHA! DEATH CAN’T CATCH ME AGAIN! YEAH!”
“…I uh… “
He wiggled. trying to free himself from his own sling. and failing.
He crossed his arms. looking around for anyone that might be nearby.
Lay beside me, under wicked sky, Through black of day, dark of night, we share this, paralyzed, The door cracks open but there’s no sun shining through, Black heart scarring darker still but there’s no sun shining through, No there’s no sun shining through, no there’s no sun shining, What I’ve felt, what I’ve known, Turn the pages, turn the stone, Behind the door, should I open it for you? Yeah, what I’ve felt, what I’ve known, Sick and tired, I stand alone, Could you be there, ‘Cause I’m the one who waits for you, Or are you unforgiven too? Come lay beside me, this won’t hurt I swear She loves me not, she loves me still but she’ll never love again She lay beside me but she’ll be there when I’m gone Black hearts scarring darker still, yes she’ll be there when I’m gone Yes she’ll be there when I’m gone, dead sure she’ll be there?
〖 …Lay beside me, tell me what they’ve done Speak the words I want to hear, to make my demons run The door is locked now, but it’s open if you’re true If you can understand the me, than I can understand the you.
Lay beside me, under wicked sky Through black of day, dark of night, we share this pair of lives The door cracks open, but there’s no sun shining through Black heart scarring darker still, but there’s no sun shining through No, there’s no sun shining through No, there’s no sun shining
What I’ve felt, what I’ve known Turn the pages, turn the stone Behind the door, should I open it for you?
What I’ve felt, what I’ve known Sick and tired, I stand alone Could you be there?, ‘cause I’m the one who waits for you Or are you unforgiven too? … 〗
☼ — ORNAMENTING her features is a laden frown, one that doesn’t shine in the moonlight; the small town she had ventured into was rife with sleeping citizens and drunken ones flocking from the tavern, even though dusk had just swept over the vast sky. perhaps it was time to tuck in for the night, though something compelled her to remain awake; which she questions as she enters the tavern. there were a few rowdy men, though most of them had seemingly made their way outdoors – potentially removed by the owner. her gaze darts between each bystander, though none are familiar; making her way up to the counter, she orders a bowl of bread and light ale ( she had never been one to get drunk ). her vision casts over the man beside her, noting his appearance as she speaks up. “ you appear to be an interesting character, ” she melodically chimes out, a warm smile radiating over her features. “ i take it you do not live in this town – are you a traveller, too? ”
