Dean is a long haul truck driver. He loves it, but it’s been lonely since his dad died and he no longer has a partner. Sam used to come along too until he started college, but now Dean is on his own again.
Because he’s always on the road, he’s got a little studio apartment that’s practically bare, except for the really nice bed that is his special treat to himself. But he only gets to enjoy it infrequently.
He’s on the road and he stops at a truck stop in a small town. It’s got a shower service and a 24 hour homestyle restaurant. After he gets clean, he goes in to get some food. It’s mostly empty because it’s past midnight.
He was hoping to find someone to chat with to ease his loneliness, but the only person there is the waiter with the wild hair, pretty blue eyes, and sweet smile. His nametag just says “Cas”. Dean wants to flirt, but he knows it’s not the best idea in a small town.
But when Cas brings him his chicken fried steak, he sets down the plate and then sits down across from Dean and strikes up a conversation. He’s funny and interesting and Dean almost forgets to eat until Cas reminds him to enjoy it while it’s warm. He keeps Dean entertained long past when he finishes his meal. It’s difficult to say goodbye when his eyelids get heavy and he has to finally say goodnight.
It’s a month before a job takes him through that town again. But Cas is there and they talk again. And again a week later when Dean comes back. He’s there most of the time Dean passes through and the times he’s off shift are lonely and boring. Just like the rest of Dean’s life.
He starts deliberately taking jobs that will give him the opportunity to visit Cas. And after a while Cas invites him to his home. It’s small and plain, but it feels luxurious in comparison to Dean’s place. The bed is nice, even if it isn’t memory foam. But it’s alright if the mattress doesn’t remember him, because Cas does.
Eventually Dean stops spending his off days at home. He spends them with Cas instead. Even if Cas has a shift at the diner he makes sure Dean knows his home is also Dean’s. And then he hands Dean his own key, and points out that he’s there so much he might as well make it official.
It doesn’t take much work to move in permanently. Dean kept very little in his apartment. The worst is moving his bed, but it fits perfectly in the room he has been sharing with Cas for the last year. And he doesn’t feel an ounce of nostalgia for the little studio apartment when he locks up his old place and turns the keys in to the rental office.
Driving long haul on his own can still get lonely some days. But when it gets bad he can call up his boyfriend, and now he has a reason to look forward to coming home.
“You caught me goofing around with
holiday-themed lingerie in the store and now everything is awkward and I’m
still holding this fur-trimmed teddy, aren’t I?”
This one was requested by a number of you, I
wonder why? Here’s some smutty, holiday cheer!
The only sound in the
apartment beyond the “click, click, hiss”
of the burner beneath the tea kettle as the gas finally ignites is his long
overdue sigh of frustration. The clock on the microwave shows 2:27 am, two hours
and twenty-seven minutes since he tried to go to sleep with certain visions
dancing behind his eyelids. Visions of his roommate, his best friend, his Emma…and
sheer red fabric trimmed in white fur. Fake fur, undoubtedly – but that’s not
really what’s been keeping him up.
It was just supposed to
be a fun day of holiday shopping, and it was - until it wasn’t. All it took was
finding Emma in the lingerie department, holding the top of a racy holiday
themed negligee up over her sweater clad breasts to send the rest of the
afternoon into a series of awkward laughs, uncomfortable silences and meaningful
looks. Well, the looks had certainly been meaningful to him, anyway. It’s the
question of what he was seeing behind those beautiful green eyes of his best
friend that has him up at almost 2:30 in the morning, making tea to add to his
They’ve had moments
before – him pulling her close to
cuddle on their couch as they watch television and him kissing her softly on her cheek to say goodnight at the door to
her room after one too many drinks. He’s pretty sure she knows his feelings,
even if he has yet to find a way to put a voice to them. The fragile nature of
his own heart has made him a bit uneasy at the prospect of opening it up to be
shattered. His friendship with Emma is too important to lose.
So lost in his own
thoughts, he doesn’t realize he’s no longer alone until the glow of the white
string lights taped to the edge of their kitchen island catch the white of Emma’s
sleep shirt from where she’s standing on the other side. Her high ponytail has
loosened and a few tendrils of her blonde hair have escaped onto her shoulder,
which she quickly pushes back behind her ear as she catches him staring.
Do you ever think Yuuri wakes up in Victor’s side and just stops and thinks he’s probably the most fortunate man in the world? Like he starts thinking about how surreal everything feels. He could look back in his life and remember himself having Victor in a pedestal, but now Victor’s no longer above him. No. Victor is sharing a bed with him. Yuuri could remember waking up when he was a teen and the first thing he’d see was Victor in the posters he had in his room. But now he wakes up and sees Victor sleeping on his side.
Do you ever think Yuuri sometimes can’t help himself but think he’s still dreaming? So he stars touching Victor softly. His hair, his face, his hands. Hoping not to wake him up but trying to bring himself to believe that that is real and happening.
So Yuuri starts thinking about how grateful he is for having Victor with him now. And how happy he is that now, he can finally return everything Victor has done for him, even before they met. All the inspiration and support. All the love.
Do you ever think that in the middle of Yuuri’s thoughts Victor wakes up? So he carefully grabs Yuuri’s hand and kisses his knuckles, because he knows Yuuri and he can see what he’s thinking. So Victor smiles and says he can’t believe he’s so fortunate either. He says everything Yuuri was thinking. He says he’s so lucky to have Yuuri with him and so happy to think that they might spend the rest of their lives together. He says that he gets excited at the thought of them supporting each other. He says he can’t wait to be able to call Yuuri “husband”. He says he’s looking forward to loving Yuuri until they’re both old and even further.
Do you ever think that after Victor marvelously says everything Yuuri was thinking, Yuuri leans to kiss him and hugs him tightly and goes back to sleep with Victor in his arms? But now Yuuri’s sure he’s the most fortunate man in the world.
Jikook, 1k, 100% crack but also 70% based on real life
In which Jungkook misunderstands a lot of things as usual.
A/N: Because date nights with @jikook-love tend to inspire things (also bc I’m just as embarrassing as Jeon omfg and she got to finally witness that then proceeded to respond “you’re so awkward” THANKS)
“Hi, welcome to Tea Palace! What can I get for
you?” Jungkook tried not to sound too nervous. It was his first official
day at work and although he’d been training for a week, he’d never had the
chance to be at the cash register taking orders. His face was angled downward,
ready to type in the order on the small screen beneath his fingers.
But what could possibly be difficult about taking orders
anyway, right? He should be glad that all he had to do was listen to the order
and type it in the machine. Oh and do some mental math occasionally, when the
customer was paying by cash and needed change. But it still seemed much easier
than the multitasking behind the counter, when he was trying to shove all the
ingredients of the bubble teas together without something exploding.
Ryan met with Gavin the Third in a small but painfully expensive restaurant overlooking the Thames. The agent was already there when he arrived, sitting by the window with a glass of red wine in hand and three plates of tiny appetisers in front of him that Ryan was quite sure had already amounted to several hundred pounds despite seeming to barely contain more than a mouthful of actual food.
“Gavin,” he said as he approached, and the other man’s eyes flicked up to him.
It still gave Ryan a jolt, how fucking identical he looked to Ryan’s old coworker. But not just to the two Gavins who he’d met back at Rooster Teeth. To the student he’d met while investigating the wormhole that’d opened in some university science lab. To the Golden Boy who worked with gangs over in Los Santos. To that idiot running around with a Union Jack on his chest claiming to be a superhero who’d been in all the papers lately.
They were all over the fucking place, and maybe Ryan should’ve been used to that same giant nose popping up everywhere, but somehow - every time - it still made him feel an odd guilt. A flash back to his life before all this.
Changes the conversation between Kara and Cat at the end of 1x12 slightly. If Kara’s going to be bad at dating, well clearly Cat is going to be the one to fix that. Professionally (except not at all).Obviously Kara dating Adam is mentioned, but trust me not in any way that’s going somewhere.
Summary: Imagine meeting Chris Evans in a bar after a tough day at work (as requested by anonymous) Word count: 450 Warnings: drinking
Your work was piling up like crazy and you were beginning to
question whether you could handle it all. Today was especially tough – your
boss had asked you for more work to be done for the next week. As much as you
loved what you were doing, it was difficult. You needed something to help you
cope, and what better to do than to head down to a bar in the city to drink
your problems away?
Your normal self would have probably marked this as a bad idea
but you couldn’t stop yourself – so rather than staying at home and starting on
the pile of work that was waiting to decrease down to nothing, you pulled on
your coat and headed out.
You entered the large place, looking around and then walking
over to the bar and sliding onto a bar stool. After ordering a glass of jack
and coke, you sit there, sighing as you drink your beverage. You could feel the
alcohol starting to relax your senses.
You see some movement from your peripheral vision and you glance
over to look at the empty bar stool next to you just as a man slips into the
seat. He notices your glance and looks over and shoots you a small smile. You
smile politely in return and notice that he has no accomplice, but you don’t
pay attention to him to realize who he is.
Paying him no mind, you
return to your drink and down the last of it, ordering another. This time, a
margarita. After that came and you drank some of it, the tequila helped calm
your nerves and was gradually taking effect.
By the time you’d finished
your third drink, he was attentively watching you. You’d had plenty of alcohol
to drink now and you were feeling just a little bit woozy.
“Drinking your problems
away?” The man who’d sat next to you before, asks. You shake your head with a
small smile, looking straight ahead.
“I don’t have any problems,
actually. I’m an independent woman who is living a good life,” you answer
coolly, and turn to him to see amused blue eyes gazing back.
You knew this guy, but you
couldn’t put your finger on who he was.
“I kinda guessed you were
an independent woman from you not having company,” he replies and you giggle.
“And that’s why you joined
me?” You ask, giving him a look.
He chuckles, “No, I was the
one who wanted company.”
You turn your whole body to
face him, “I can be really good company.”
“Great,” he laughs a
little. “But let’s not drink too much. We don’t want your independent self gettin’ into trouble.”
If you dye your hair, your soulmate’s hair color changes as well and you swear the moment you see your soulmate you will choke them because you just woke up with your hair colored like a rainbow and it’s your first job interview at a prestigious company what the fuck.
A/N: This is not beta read, so sorry if there are any mistakes. (Title from the Bob Dylan song Tangled Up In Blue, though it doesn’t really relate to the fic (just thought it fit as a title). Also I’m a photoshop n00b so sorry for the crappy hair edits.)
The first time it happened was when Dan was eight. At that age he only knew of one other person that it had happened to before, she had been lucky though as her hair colour had changed to a sensible colour, he however hadn’t been so lucky. One day he had woken up with bright yellow hair! His parents had gasped when he walked into the kitchen that morning.
here, i present a shit ton of fics I’ve enjoyed and loved reading throughout the month of october. I recommend that you read these great fics in november, if you haven’t already!! there are a LOT of really good stories and AUs here so get to reading!!
(all fics with a star are my favorites and if there are two stars then it was a favorite favorite)
The year is 1881 and if you’re alone in this world you might as well be dead, because starving dogs have no mercy.
Or: Wherein Louis and Harry are on the opposite ends of the social ladder, but their paths still cross on the filthy streets Louis calls his home. The odds are staked against them from the beginning, and even more when Louis’ past finally catches up with him.
Louis has been an MI6 agent for four years. Now he wants out. Unfortunately, his superiors have other ideas. Their solution: a ‘mission’ in the Greek Islands, one that’s more vacation than actual work. Harry is an avid photographer who shows him around the area. He’s open and carefree and everything that Louis wishes he could be.
Along the way they fall in love, and maybe Louis learns a little about love, a little about lies, and a whole lot the meaning of home.
“What?” Harry mumbles, caught up in the way his eyes are quite literally sparkling in the light. “Oh—No. Not a student.”
“Are you a sub?” Louis asks.
Harry clenches his hands into fists, holding them behind his back as he stumbles a bit. “I don’t, uh—I mean. I’ve never really gotten a chance to be a true sub, you know? My ex-partners were always scared they’d hurt me. But, like—If I trusted someone a lot, and if we used a, a safeword. And talked about, you know, boundaries, then—Yes, yeah, I-I’m a sub.”
Louis’ eyes are so wide, his cheeks puffing out in the effort to not burst into laughter.
“Oh shit, oh my god,” Harry whispers. “You meant—Oh god.”
As a condition of their sentence and probation, the court orders that Aaron Dingle and Robert Sugden are to have no further contact with one another under any circumstances.
Yorkshire police were on high alert this morning when it was discovered that convicted murderer Robert Sugden had escaped from Manchester Prison, accompanied by former lover, Aaron Dingle. Just two weeks after their public trial and sentencing, it’s emerged that Sugden was mistakenly transferred to Strangeways from Wakefield Prison. As a condition of their sentencing, neither Sugden nor Dingle were permitted to serve in the same institution, and it is not understood, at this time, why Sugden was transferred at all. While both are considered highly dangerous, West Yorkshire Police are keen to assure the public that they’re doing everything in their power to recapture both fugitives.
Guillermo del Toro said that John’s character will be the “continuation of the great leadership character that was Idris Elba” but that he will also be a “very different character”.
So !!! It means so many possibilities for John’s character ! He probably won’t be as stoïc and military-like as his father, but he will still move the masses. The young Pentecost, a kind smile in a fresh face, enthusiastic but no less earnest to save the world, to live up to his father’s legacy. The war didn’t weather him as much as it did his father and sister, but maybe that’s what the people need : a bright and sunny symbol of hope amidst the ruins of their lives.
Or maybe he’s none of this. Maybe he’s even darker and colder than Stacker. Maybe he feels crushed by the weight of his father’s legacy, of his sister’s heroic feats - he doesn’t know how to live up to them, how to make his family proud. Mako says she’s proud of him, but he doesn’t believe her. He feels like a child grown too fast, a child forced to wear his dead father’s suit, a child still too angry at the world. Angry that his father was killed. That his sister lost her parents - twice. That so many more people have died, are dying, and will die. The young Pentecost leads and talks and people listen to him. They listen because he looks like his father, walks like him, talks like him. They also listen because he is nothing like his father : he’s sly and abrasive, going too fast and too hard, but maybe that’s what the people need, a leader animated with the same rage as them.
Or maybe John’s character is something else entirely. Maybe he’s not a fighter, like his father and sister before him. He tried, really. He tried to be like them. But if he can stand his ground during a regular fight, he can’t pilot a Jaeger to save his life. He never found someone he could drift with - hundreds of candidates and it always goes wrong. Maybe something’s wrong with him (after all he’s the son of Stacker Pentecost, one of the greatest pilots of all times, he should be able to pilot a goddamn robot) but it doesn’t really bother him anymore. He was never interested in fighting kaijus in the first place - well, not in that manner. His thing is science. All of them. Biology, engineering, statistics, mathematics. Analyzing kaijus to better know the beasts and how to defeat them. Enhancing the Jaegers so they could be safer, stealthier, faster, more powerful (so they don’t kill their pilots like Coyote Tango killed his father, slowly and painfully over the years). He’s a nerd, holed up in his labs and papers, but that’s his war. That’s how he fights, how he protects people, how he avenges his father’s death, how he helps his sister. And maybe that’s what the people need.
Anyway I’m so pumped up for this movie and I can’t wait to learn more about John’s character !
People: “My New Years resolution is to loose weight!” “Mine is to become fit!” “What is your New Years resolution?”
Me: to convince the writers of supernatural to have Dean Winchester admit his love for Castiel to the world and everyone else is like “jeez took you long enough” and to binge watch all 11 ½ seasons in a week.
