only that he needed to be better. he needed to be more powerful he needs constantly to improve himself

I’m relatively open to all kinds of ideas and theories, the’re a lot of fun to talk about and mess around with.

But there are just some i just can’t accept, and i think it’s harder to accept, when they were created on little fact…and seem to only exist to put down. character or ship.

I love tom, but i can respect it if someone just simply doesn’t like him.

He’s flawed, every character is, which is a good thing, he’s going to screw up…nobody is perfect…

But abusive?

Abusive is a strong thing to call somebody, if you’re referring to someone as being abusive you are referring to someone who can cause physical and/ or mental damage to someone…and who doesn’t care about the victim’s feelings and /or well-being.

That’s a pretty hard accusation to place on Tom, especially when he’s still a character with much mystery behind him.

I wouldn’t be nearly as bothered by it, however, if the fandom didn’t treat this as more of a FACT sometimes…and not an headcanon.

You can’t use a headcanon as a reason to hate Tom, or hate any ship he’s apart of.

A headcanon is a theory or idea of something that may happen, or could happen…’s nothing that’s confirmed yet.

Unless Tom is proven to be abusive on this show, he’s not.

And it’s a hard claim to stake, because it really doesn’t make a lot of sense considering his character and his relationships.

But Star-!

Star is one of the biggest reasons i don’t buy this idea.

all of her actions towards Tom are not the ones of a victim of abuse. She’s not really afraid of Tom, has no problem saying no to him, and frankly doesn’t really seem to hate him despite everything.

And if Tom DID abuse her, that doesn’t add up and instead raises more questions like:

  • Why did Star accept Tom’s invite so easily in BMB? And leave so willingly in this and the original storyboard?
  • Why is Star so forgiving towards Tom?
  • Why does she still have his number?
  • Why is she perfectly fine with Tom and Marco hanging out together?
  • Why would she egg Marco on to hang out with Tom?
  • Why does her reaction to him inviting her in BMB sound more annoyed then angry and aggressive if he hurt her?

Look, i don’t know for sure about what happened with their relationship, but this is not how an abuse survivor treats their abuser.

Star would want nothing to do with him, wouldn’t let Marco ever hang out with him, wouldn’t willingly go anywhere with him anymore, and would treat him a lot more coldly.

But he’s mean!! He’s hurt star and Marco-!

Here’s the thing about abusers, they don’t realize (Or Care) about how they treat the victim.

This is literally the opposite of Tom’s entire character.

When Tom hurts people, he genuinely looks hurt and ashamed of himself.

When he gets scolded, he looks as if he’s about to cry.

Making others sad and/or upset isn’t something he takes pride in and he has no problem taking the blame when he screws up.

He genuinely apologizes, this is not something an abuser would do.

Tom’s character revolves around him trying to improve upon himself, he goes through the effort to become a better person and tried to fix something he knows is causing so much trouble, You can’t simply pretend these efforts mean nothing when they’re such a big part of his character.

Tom’s flawed, sure, but so are Marco and Star.

And between the three of them, Tom tries the hardest to change for the good of himself and everyone around him.

There’s also the matter that out of everyone on this show, Tom gets this label despite him never harming anyone on this show.

The most damage he’s done to anyone so far is hit Marco with some ping pong balls, that’s not exactly the worst Marco’s encountered compared to what Star has put him through.

Sure he attempted to attack Marco during BMB, but considering that fight never happened….we’ll never know what Tom could’ve ended up doing or if he even would’ve gone through with it.

The guy kinda lost everything that night, his anger was building all night and this was what broke the camel’s back.

It’s probably harder to handle this kinda thing when your emotions link to your powers.

He didn’t even hurt Marco in “Friend-enemies” when he got upset, and the position he chose to “Attack” him with doesn’t look too effective considering it looks more like Tom’s going in for a kiss.

(( No seriously, who attacks people in this kinda position?))

But in “Mr Candle Cares”… he said he was gonna destroy Marco!!!

Yeah, but did he? He and Marco played 58 games, despite the fact that they only needed to play one to decide Marco’s fate and Tom never told him to stop starting these new games.

Honestly is anyone really sure Tom would’ve “Destroyed” Marco?

It looks more to me like he’s all talk in that scene, upset Marco discovered his plan and is trying not to panic about what he’s gonna do about it.

Cause he can’t let Marco leave and tell Star, but now he doesn’t know what to do with him.

When he thought they kissed the worst he did to Marco was spin him and get him wet.

B-But he wanted to do a battle to the death!

Ok, for one, i think that has much more to do with Tom’s violent culture, and less to do with him being abusive. It’s probably how the underworld settles deputes normally, and considering Tom’s species seems to have a harder time being killed off….it’s probably less of a big deal to them.

Tom wasn’t raised in exactly the most comfortable and understanding universes the show has presented.

So Far Tom’s been about as dangerous as a kitten. Star’s done worse damage to other’s then him.

Heck i’m sure the water fountain at the school has harmed more people then Tom at this point.

but one of the last things that needs to be said about this and why this doesn’t work is that if Tom was meant to be this awful, unforgiving, harmful person….why try and make him sympathetic?

The crew actually loves Tom, and if you’ve been around to their blogs it’s very common to find the crew’s draws of Tom…sometimes by himself, but other times with Marco and Star.

It’s clear the crew likes him, and they constantly put him in a position where he’s friends with Marco and Star.

If Tom is meant to be this horrible abusive person? Then why give him sympathy? Why allow him to have anything to do with Marco or Star?

If you’re going to portray an abusive relationship, one of the last things you want to do is make the abuser sympathetic.

Especially on a show like this one that’s meant for kids.

If you wanted to make Tom abusive, why not keep his old evil design? That would fit more with that idea, not this version.

You can interpret the characters how you want but saying that this is canon, and putting people’s ships down because of this claim that has no real good evidence to it….that doesn’t work.

It comes off more like the fandom wanted an excuse to hate Tom, and find ways to put down other’s for their ships.

And considering Jackie gets worse treatment then Tom, despite doing nothing wrong…that shouldn’t be a surprise.

Tom’s a mystery, there’s a lot we still need to know about him. But i don’t believe this abusive version of him was what the show was intending to create.

Untill there is more evidence then “ Tom’s done bad things”, (something that all people do), this is just a headcanon that isn’t very likely to be true at all.

And it really needs to die because it’s not doing any favors for this fandom at all by taking a character whose most relatable to victims of abuse, and labeling him worse then the show’s intentions.

How would the RFA + V and seran to an Mc who is a really bad cook but when she made their favorite food it surprisingly turned out great. How would they react?

  • Sweet bean baby really doesn’t like your cooking
  • He usually makes excuses on why he can’t eat your cooking (e.g. “I ate already!”)
  • But he couldn’t get out of it this time because he’s weak can’t say no to you
  • When he finds out you made one of his favorite foods, omurice, he’s so downcast
  • Yoosung just doesn’t want to hate his favorite food why does the world do this to him
  • With a trembling hand, he lifts his fork up to this mouth and takes a bite
  • The dish itself didn’t look bad, but hey, you never know
  • His face was ready to fight off the look of disgust but surprisingly, he went in for another bite
  • h o l y crappoli this was amazing
  • He’s constantly praising you inbetween bites
  • Really proud of your drastic improvement!!
  • He can finally start to cook together with you without the fear of causing a house fire

  • You can bet that Baehee does most of the cooking in the house
  • She usually receives a packed lunch from you before she heads out for work
  • But once she reaches work, she tends to throw it away and goes for buying lunch instead
  • She feels really bad for doing so, but she can’t help it, your food makes her feel icky
  • Today was her day off, so she couldn’t get out of eating your cooked lunch and you refused to let her cook instead
  • The menu item for today was a bento
  • Knowing with your skills, gas station bento sounded more appetizing at this point
  • When she saw the look of anticipation on your face, she sighed and reached for her chopsticks
  • Upon taking a bite, her face instantly turned into one of enjoyment
  • “MC, can you pack this for my lunch? It’s amazing!”
  • She’s so relieved that all the practice turned your cooking a complete 180 towards a better path

  • You were always trying to cook him healthy dishes
  • Vegetables were always bland and mushy, meat wasn’t seasoned properly, rice was overcooked, something was always off with your cooking
  • He usually ate before coming home, so there wasn’t a need for you to cook for him
  • Not after he ate that dish that left him on the toilet for hours
  • One day you decided to surprise visit him at his studio and you made goldfish bread for everybody
  • When you walked in with the basket he greeted you, asking you what it was
  • His face paled upon hearing that it was made by you and not bought from the cart outside his house
  • Not wanting to cause a scene, he anxiously watched everyone on set take one and bite into it
  • You can imagine his surprise when everybody began devouring them one after another
  • Once he took a bite of his own fish, his face lit up with utter joy as he grabbed another fish to murder eat
  • As time went on, he learned that your baking skills were waaaay better than your cooking

  • Jumin Han, proud and powerful businessman, was afraid of your cooking
  • You rarely got to do it since there were personal chefs, but when you actually got to do it oh b o y
  • Because he loves you so dearly, he’ll try to eat most of it before telling you that he isn’t very hungry
  • He is very ecastic that you think of him enough to cook for him though, so it never goes without a ‘thank you’ and forehead kiss!
  • Tonight was one of the times you got to cook dinner and Jumin spent atleast 45 minutes mentally preparing himself
  • You decided to make a favorite of Jumin, steak
  • When you brought it out to him, he made sure to have some wine at hand for when he needed to wash down the taste
  • He proceeded to cut out his bite and much to his surprise, it was very flavorful and…
  • and well, not disgusting
  • After happily eating the rest of it, he asked if you did anything different this time while cooking
  • You admitted that you’ve been taking a cooking class in your spare time, and he was very pleased upon hearing that
  • Now you were urged to cook more frequently and maybe replace the chefs

  • Saeyoung isn’t a picky eater
  • He’s said himself that he really doesn’t care about flavor and that he only needed HBC and PhD Pepper
  • But knowing his diet, you pushed to cook for him everyday so he would be healthier
  • True to his word, he really didn’t care about the taste of your cooking, it was just really bland to him so he had no problem scarfing it down for your sake
  • On the days where the dish actually was bad, he’d still eat it all and compliment you for it (not without a ‘thank you’ either)
  • Around lunchtime he was called out of work as per usual for food
  • This time though, he was greeted by a heavenly smell
  • The smell was stir fry noodles, something he actually kind of liked
  • He took his usual seat next to you on the stools and thanked you before digging in
  • For the first time, he genuinely enjoys the taste of your cooking
  • You even had to serve him seconds, which is a first!
  • When he finishes helping you clean up, you’re immediately picked up and spun around, “Saeyoung iF YOU DON’T PUT ME DOWN I’M GOING TO THROW UP”
  • To tame his suspicions, he hacked into your search history only to find heaps of recipes and cooking tutorials
  • He should definitely ask if you can make Honey Buddha Chips now

  • This precious, amazing, holy man
  • A man who we do not deserve
  • Eats every single thing you make with no complaint whatsoever
  • All Jihyun does is love and praise you and your cooking with many, many compliments, no matter how awful it actually is
  • Bless his soul
  • You could bring him a slice of burnt toast and he’d still eat it with a smile and thank you for it I swear to god
  • One day you served him this huge ass plate of pasta
  • And only the lord knows how much this man l o v e s pasta, because MAMA MIA
  • Imagine this skinny, lanky man engulf a large plate of pasta
  • He did mentally take note that compared to everything else, this pasta was freaking amazing give him more
  • After watching him literally absorb that plate, he has the biggest smile plastered on his face as he asks for a second plate
  • After he finishes the second plate, the shower of compliments wave onto you during the couch cuddle session
  • Eventually Jihyun passes out though because food coma
  • Please protect him, he’s too good for this world,,

  • The first time he ever took a bite out of something you made, his face immediately scrunched up in disgust
  • You know that he dislikes your cooking, but you’re determined to get better
  • Ever since then, you’ve cooked atleast one of his meals everyday, much to Saeran’s dismay
  • He loves you, so he’ll begrudgingly take a few bites out of it until he ultimately says that he can’t eat anymore
  • Try and try as you might, it always ends up with the same result every day
  • Until one day you see him snacking on some Pepero and immediately remember his love for sweets
  • So you try exactly that for breakfast
  • When he walks into the kitchen the next morning, he’s surprised to smell something sweet wafting through the air
  • You gesture him to sit down while you bring a plate of hotteok to him (basically pancake with cinnamon-peanut syrup filling)
  • He slowly takes the first bite, and afterwards he’s instantly hooked
  • “You finally made something  good, MC,” his words are muffled through his mouthful
  • But his dorky smile was the best part

anonymous asked:

I don't know if this is a proper question but personally I've seen tons of posts commenting the mental state of bakugou and how he's a mess....but I don't see a lot of posts about how Izuku (or really any meta on him in gen) has been affected by bakugou verbal and physical abuse and how he over came that but how it was still damaging for him to have to endure it for 10 stinken years with no help from any one with authority

Don’t worry Anon; it’s called ask but really, it doesn’t need to be questions, just exchanging opinions and talking about BNHA is fun and interesting. So thank you for this one. And beware of the long answer coming through.

I think the reason why Bakugou get a lot more of meta is because he’s a really complex character; he’s inspiring, because he’s passionate and possess incredible abilities in fights, but he has a terrible attitude, and even an abusive one, so people are torn; should they love him or hate him? What sides of him should they privilege over the other? I haven’t been on tumblr and BNHA fandom for that long, but I already saw how his character could divide people; some will overprotect him, others will heavily criticize him and tell how dangerous he is. Those two extremes can’t be help, people will appropriate this character differently depending on their own experience and beliefs. Meta is interesting because it breaks that Manichean wall and goes in further to grasp the complexity of this character, because there are actual reasons as to why he’s behaving the way he does, and it’s more interesting, and in my opinion more fair to the manga and Hori, to try and understand what’s really going on behind the curtains. Bakugou is a difficult character to look objectively through, thus we spend so much time writing meta. You can’t really help but be drawn to things you don’t understand and try to make sense out of it, at least when you’re curious, but that’s the case of a lot of people and that’s where meta comes in. And that’s why so many people are trying to make their ideas come together to try and grasp this character the best they can, myself included. In the same way, a lot of meta has been going on around Kirishima lately, for the same reasons. We can feel something is going on behind curtains, so we’re trying to look for answers because it makes us curious. It’s interesting.

As to Midoriya now, he is the main character, so there are actually less part of his environment and character that are hidden, hard to understand and need to be analyzed through meta. The only shred of mystery surrounding him would be his family and/or is link to One for All and All for One in my opinion. All Might said his mother looked like Nana, the previous owner of One for All, and we don’t know what his father looks like so there are maybe theories that can be made, but there are still not enough hints to do that. His relationship with Shigaraki Tomura would deserve a good meta (I have no idea if someone already made it) but there is still not enough content to draw satisfying conclusions. As to meta about his character, we’re more or less constantly in Midoriya’s head, and he’s already really honest with himself so there isn’t that much to ‘look through’. He doesn’t dwell long on issues that comes to him, while both Bakugou and Kirishima are still shackled by the same mindset they had since their childhood ’I’m still not good enough, I’m weak, I need to be stronger or I’m just a worthless burden and won’t achieve anything’. Those complexes and anxiety make it difficult to be honest and look objectively at themselves, and consequently, make it hard to move on and improve.

The thing is, Midoriya doesn’t have any inferiority complex, and doesn’t show sign of mental health issues. He’s a stable character who’s steadily improving and overcoming at a good pace everything that’s thrown to him because he’s very quick on his feet and is eager to face challenges. Just look how much he improved in such a short time, between UA entrance exam and sports festival.

He’s been bullied by Bakugou, but his convictions are so strong they’re not affected by what not only Bakugou but the whole society told him as a quirkless individual. Even All Might told him he should give up at the very beginning, but still, he went and decided to do things his own way, because helping others is in his nature. Also, Midoriya has known Bakugou for years; he looks up to him but is also aware of his personality so he doesn’t take it personally, as Bakugou behaves that way towards everyone. He got a special treatment because he was quirkless and perceived as weak, but Bakugou is aggressive towards everyone, so, yeah, Midoriya is aware of this awful attitude of his and doesn’t take it personally. If he’d been so irrationally afraid of Bakugou, it would have reflected on his social ability and self-esteem, which is not the case, as he made friends, can establish good relationships with everyone and isn’t afraid to stand up for himself and others ; he never was in the first place, but was afraid of Bakugou’s powers until he had his own powers to stand equally in front of him.

It’s not that Midoriya is over what Bakugou did, forgave him and moved on. They still need to talk about it, but nothing Midoriya says come across Bakugou, because he’s still not ready to have that kind of conversation. He’s still dealing with too much issues himself and isn’t mature enough yet to take a step back and apologize. Everything Bakugou did was damaging to Midoriya in a way that now, he’s grateful for people support, kindness and attention because it’s not natural for him, but apart from that, he’s doing pretty well. After all, he’s the one who helped Todoroki during UA sports festival, Iida during Stain Arc, Kouta during Training Camp Arc, went to save Bakugou with Kirishima and others during Kamino Arc, and even now he’s trying to save Eri. You can’t help anyone if you can’t help yourself in the first place, and the fact that he can just show he’s stable and comfortable with himself so he can provide support to others.

Midoriya is mentally incredibly strong, he’s got the same mental fortitude Tsuyu has, and it’s an important ability of his. He’s able to think and take decisions very quickly, adapt and shift his position in any fights because he spent a lot of time thinking how to improve and what to do rather that venting about his abilities and convincing himself he was already the best the way he was (only to be proven wrong later and be damaged by that realization, like Bakugou). At most, if he’s frustrated towards something, it’s himself. He’s not looking down on himself, like Bakugou and Kirishima do, but he’s rationally analyzing his mistakes and doing his best to improve. Midoriya is someone who is always looking forward, thinking ahead of things, and planning how he’ll keep going. He’s genuinely impressed by others but doesn’t feel threatened and never let it weights on him; it’s even the contrary. Unlike Bakugou, Midoriya takes challenges head on and is actually excited to overcome them and do his best to improve.

He’s not that interested in proving himself to be better than others because what he’s craving for is ’saving people with a fearless smile’ while Bakugou wants to be the best and surpass everyone. As their objectives differ, the pressure they’re putting on their own shoulders aren’t the same either. Bakugou is dealing with too much pressure as he’s always comparing himself to others, when there is no way to be strong like All Might when you’re only fifteen. On the other hand, Midoriya wants to put his mind to work and save others, so he’s not emotionally implied in being ahead of everyone like Bakugou, and doesn’t even consider others as a threat, so mentally speaking, the weight is just not the same.

While Bakugou has been ‘the one everyone, himself included, expected great things from’, Midoriya was ‘the one nobody, except himself, expected a thing from’. That predisposition made them evolve very differently, mentally and emotionally. Now that Midoriya inherited One for All, he’s just over the moon because he was finally given, by the Symbol of Peace himself, a chance to show what he’s made of, when Bakugou took even more pressure on himself when he realized he wasn’t the only amazing one at UA. If we don’t see that much meta on Midoriya it’s because he’s now defined by much more things that his past and relationship with Bakugou, while Bakugou is still defining himself by the same issues since the beginning and it’s still weighting him down. While one is ready to address the issue and improve, the other is still chained up to his old self, and we need to understand that through meta if we want to treat this character fairly. Which is obviously less easy than it is for Midoriya. So take all of that and you’ll understand why Bakugou get so much more attention and meta than Midoriya. If you’re looking for a Midoriya’s appreciation (and kinda meta) post, I’m gonna link this one ask I answered on why I love Midoriya, or this one where I wrote about what his relationship with Bakugou illustrates from their society where worth is defined by ‘ability’ and quirks, and the lack of reaction from any kind of authority.

Bakugou really spread discord among the fandom, so that’s why he’s getting more attention and meta, while Midoriya creates more consensus. As I don’t see people disagree or tell things obviously not thought through much about Midoriya, I don’t particularly feel like I need to butt in and reestablish some kind of fair approach on him. It’s just a sign that he’s doing well and everyone agree to recognize his abilities, which is great.

A Lesson Steven Universe can Learn from Adventure Time

Adventure Time is ending soon, and honestly I don’t know exactly how to feel. I’m not exactly caught up on the series, but I freaking love the show! It’s what got me back into animation and broke me out of the stupid “tv animation is for kids” mentality. Many credit the show for bringing back quality animation to TV, if it wasn’t for Adventure Time we would’ve never gotten Steven Universe (for many reasons, one being that Rebecca Sugar worked on Adventure Time before starting Steven Universe). Now a days, the Adventure Time fandom has dwindled a bit and Steven Universe has pretty much replaced it, which is a shame because I still think Adventure Time is a good show. I might still think it’s slightly better than Steven Universe (OMG did I just say that?). At least it does do some things better than Steven Universe (and SU does do some things better than it).

Let’s look at some of the things Adventure Time Does Better. I think it’s better at world building than SU, it’s more creative, its stories are more varied, it’s more experimental, and its non story arc episodes are better. Now to be fair, Steven Universe and Adventure Time are structured differently. Steven Universe is more story arc driven while Adventure Time is more about the smaller stories or adventures. Yet Steven Universe is not a purely story driven show, there’s a lot of “filler episodes” that don’t develop the larger story arc (in fact, there isn’t a story arc in the show right now). There are a lot of people who complain about these episodes, but I personally don’t hate the Beach City Episodes (that’s what I call episodes that are about the residents of Beach City) but they could be a lot better. Now let me list a bunch of great Adventure Time episodes: I Remember You, Princess Monster Wife, Thank You, Root Beer Guy, Jake the Brick, Simon & Marcy, BMO Lost, Gold Star, Dark Purple, Sky Witch, a lot of Stakes and more. Why did I list those episodes, because they all had one thing in common, they barely featured Finn. Now Finn is overall the main character of the show, but in those episodes, he wasn’t the main character. That brings me to my main point, Steven Universe needs to be less involved in Steven Universe.

Now I don’t hate the kid, he’s very likable. Finn is likable as well, but there are reasons him not being too involved in certain episodes work. It allows other characters in the show to get the spotlight and get some good character development. In Steven Universe, Steven is almost always involved in everyone’s stories to a degree (many would say he’s too involved). Some episodes really would’ve improved if Steven was much less involved or in the focus, such as Onion Gang. Onion Gang was the last episode released at the time of the posting, and it wasn’t really that good. The biggest problem in the episode was Steven himself. He wasn’t unlikable, but he wouldn’t shut up, he acted uncharacteristically dumb, the episode ended with Steven having a pity party since Onion wasn’t completely dependent on his friendship (until it turns out Onion was dependent on his friendship outside of the summer so no lessons were learned) and it was one of those episodes that made me go “seriously Steven, you’re 14!” He was weighing down the episode is what I’m saying. Now imagine if the episode didn’t feature Steven that much. The episode would feature Onion meeting the Soup gang and they would probably go on an adventure. The episode probably wouldn’t involve much dialogue, giving Steven Universe a chance to show it’s visual story telling props like Thank You did with Adventure Time. It would’ve at least made the episode more memorable.

Now not every episode that should’ve featured Steven less were because Steven is annoying (he usually isn’t) it’s because it would’ve been stronger character development. Seeing how characters interact without Steven on their normal everyday lives or on a little adventure gives the chance to develop their characters more. Peridot rarely learns a lesson by her a volition, it usually involves Steven telling her what’s right and what’s wrong so her changes aren’t usually as compelling. In Drop Beat Dad, we spend most of the time with Steven so Sour Cream’s story is not nearly as compelling since he isn’t really the focus. Seeing a story from different character’s points of views would develop them a lot more, and seeing how they interact with the world outside of Steven or with other characters would make their characters more three-dimensional. The point of these “filler episodes” are to build world and build characters, but it’s sometimes hard when Steven shows up and distracts focus from those characters, or is just there being extraneous. Imagine if in Sky Witch, Finn went on the adventure too and we constantly had him making comments. It really would’ve detracted from the episodes and the Bubbline shipper bait. It would’ve also been a weight on the story since Finn wouldn’t have had a reason to be there outside of him being the main character. That’s how I kind of feel about Steven being included in episodes that he isn’t needed like Too Short to Ride. The next episode in the show is Gem Harvest and it seems to be about Lapis and Peridot raising a pumpkin pet. Well in theory it might, but chances are Steven is going to stick around the whole episode and be an unnecessary third wheel. Which would you prefer? An episode about Peridot and Lapis raising a pumpkin, or an episode about Peridot, Lapis and Steven raising a pumpkin. I’m not even a lapidot shipper and I know that I would rather have the episode  be about just Lapis and Peridot.

Now chances for character development isn’t the only reasons I feel like Steven should be less prominent in more episodes, it’s also chances for world building. In Adventure Time there are many episodes starring other characters and usually the world becomes bigger. In Thank You we see an Ice Giant rescue a fire wolf pup and return it to its world. We see how the Ice Giant lives, how the fire wolves lives, and world expands. There are many Adventure Time episodes like that and the world is huge because of it. In Steven Universe, Steven is always involved with everything. In Restaurant Wars, he starts the war and then ends it. In Political Power, the gems are responsible for the power outage and Steven ends up calming the crowd down. In Future Boy Zoltron, most of the episode is about Steven until he meets Frowney and hooks him up with Smiley. There are many episodes like that. The fact that Steven always has to be involved makes the world of Steven Universe feel smaller. Like all of the characters don’t have stories unless Steven is present. I feel like if Steven wasn’t always involved it would make the world bigger and the characters more complex. I think that’s definitely a lesson Steven Universe can take from Adventure Time.

PS: Yes, I know that there are technically some episodes that don’t feature Steven that much, but those barely count because they are usually being told to him as a story and involves the past like We Need to Talk, Garnet’s Universe, The Answer, and Buddy’s Book. I’m just thinking some of the episodes that take place in the present should involve less.

Companions react to a sole survivor with prosthetics? Like they've worn a lot of long sleeves with gloves or long pants with boots and one hot day they just decide to take it off for a short while?

I’m writing this as a Sole who thought they already told the companion or the companion knew, since most people with prosthetics don’t want to spring it on others. Alternatively Sole was embarrassed, etc. -Moss

CAIT- “Jesus, I didn’t know you were missin’ that. Scared the piss out of me.” She wants to hear the story behind the missing limb, since she’s used to raiders telling her about their grand adventures of stand-offs with Deathclaws that ended with one of the parties leaving about 15 pounds lighter. If Sole doesn’t want to talk about it, she shrugs and leaves it at that. They were badass before she knew, and they’re still badass.

CODSWORTH- Most likely already knew about the prosthetic and maybe performed regular maintenance on it for Sole if requested, like washing the liner or socks, etc. In the Commonwealth he makes sure that Sole is still taking care of their limb. It might be the end of the world, but that doesn’t mean that Sole doesn’t have to do their stretches!

CURIE- As a Nurse Handy, Curie was equipped with a knowledge of prosthetics and stumps, so although she’s initially a little shocked, she shakes it off and starts thinking about improvements she could make to the prosthetic. She’s always available to do routine check-ups if Sole gets a rash or anything, and like Codsworth, mother hens Sole about caring for their limb and prosthetic properly.

DANSE- He’s disappointed that Sole kept this from him and suggests that they see Proctor Ingram about modifying their power armor to accommodate the missing limb/prosthetic. As far as he’s concerned, it’s not an issue, since he’s already seen that Sole is well capable of handling themselves in combat. Besides, the Brotherhood has their back now. They don’t need to worry about broken parts or difficult adjustments.

DEACON- Deacon kicks himself for not noticing before. Hell, he’d been watching Sole for weeks before they met, and he somehow missed something like this? His secondary reaction is him immediately wanting to have Tinker Tom check the limb out to see if he can install any cool upgrades (probably not possible, but hey, if the guy can make a teleporter work…).

DOGMEAT- Tilts his head, confused. He didn’t know Sole could do that! He knew the prosthetic wasn’t flesh- he’s a dog, after all- but he thought that it was a part of Sole. Despite his initial confusion, he doesn’t care much, and maybe tries to help out when Sole is putting on the prosthetic by bringing them the stump socks that are on a table across the room.

HANCOCK- At first he thinks he’s hallucinating, but he shakes it off and realises that he’s not seeing things- it’s just a prosthetic. He’s the last person to judge- amputation is a common occurrence for a ghoul since they don’t tend to, uh, hold together very well. He asks Sole to show him how it works, especially if it’s mechanised, and secretly wonders if he’s ever going to need something like that.

MACCREADY- “Holy shi- aggh. Sorry, Sole. I didn’t know you had a prosthetic.” He’s embarrassed that he was startled and hopes Sole knows he’s not grossed out or anything. He actually wants to check out the prosthetic, since the pre-war kind Sole has probably isn’t common in the Wasteland or Commonwealth, and thinks it’s pretty cool. He wonders if Sole was embarrassed, and makes sure to let them know that they don’t have to be, not with him.

NICK- “Don’t mean to alarm you, but I think you’re missing something.” Nick is a little disappointed that Sole neglected to mention this, since a lot of frequent walking/activity breaks are making more sense now, but he also knows that Sole has a right to their privacy, something that’s important to him after years of living like a zoo animal in a glass cage. He knows what it’s like to be missing pieces and to have to re-adapt to a new body better than most people.

PIPER- Piper screams a little at first, thinking something awful happened, and then immediately feels guilty and apologises. It’s not like prosthetics are uncommon in the Commonwealth. She asks Sole if there’s anything she needs to know in a pinch. They are traversing the a Commonwealth together, and she wouldn’t want to be caught empty handed should the need arise. (Depending on what Sole’s missing, that might be a pun.)

PRESTON- Preston’s eyes widen, and he comments that he had no idea that Sole wore a prosthetic. He has a tendency to be a worry wart, so he would constantly be asking if Sole needed help while they fiddled with their prosthetic, cleaning it or adjusting it or whatever. If it bothers Sole, he makes sure to impress upon them that he knows they’re capable of taking care of themselves- he just wants them to know that he’s available if they ever need him for anything.

STRONG- Strong would probably be impressed that humans can recover from a lost limb with a prosthetic, although his initial reaction leaves a lot to be desired. “Where human’s leg go? Strong hungry.”

X6- Nothing fazes X6, least of all a fake limb. Sole could throw their prosthetic at him and he’d say, “I don’t think this is behaviour suitable for the next Director, sir/ma'am.” X6 thinks it only proves that Sole is tough as nails, a true testament to Father’s genetics- it’s hard enough up there in the wastes without having to worry about taking care of a prosthetic. He reminds Sole that the Institute can most likely provide them with an adequate replacement prosthetic should the need arise.

FO4 companions react to Sole not having eaten in days and refusing to do so out of depression

Ah, yay for 12 in the A.M. posts! I decided I should post at least one respond before having to wait another long, aggravating span of hours. I hope I did a decent enough job about this one.

While being known for using brute force to solve many, if not all her problems, Cait would try to be gentle as she could be with this situation. When attempting to make them eat would fail, the next step would be feeding them herself. She would visit them multiple times in the day, making sure they got the proper nutrients, regardless of their protests. It wouldn’t be that she was forcing them to eat, she was just pursuing them through means of constant chiding, refusing to leave until they had at least taken in something, even if it was small. This woman could be extremely stubborn, but she meant well.

Having a history of being Sole’s family butler, this Mr. Handy would be the one out of all companions to instantly know why they were in such a terrible mood. Codsworth would constantly offer to make their favorite meals, ask them if they would like to join him in some sort of board game or other pastime, as well as bring up conversation topics he’d know Sole would enjoy. He would think of anything and everything to take their mind off of whatever was upsetting them, while aiding in maintaining an appropriate hygiene level. He cared for his Sir/Mum quite a bit and would do anything to insure their health and happiness.

At first, Curie would try to look into this depression through medical terms. She wouldn’t offer Sole any sort of chem, believing that it would only make their condition worse or add an unneeded addiction into the mix. It would be difficult for her to understand why they wouldn’t want to eat, she was used to humans having to intake food all the time. Through her knowledge, Curie would instruct the survivor why it was vital they continued to appropriately take care of themselves and they’d more than like have to explain the reason why they weren’t hungry, leading up to why they weren’t eating. Once that was clear in her mind, she’d approach the problem much more carefully, offering alternatives to making sure they didn’t starve themselves to death.

Paladin Danse:

Danse was terrible at reading signs, taking days into Sole’s isolation to finally realize what the issue was. Impossibly unpleasant regarding persuasion, the course of action he’d take would to bring Sole to the mess hall in the Prydwen as often as he could. He’d try to lighten the mood, speaking about successful missions, complimenting them about how good of a soldier they were and things like that. It would be incredibly awkward for both of them, especially when he’d absolutely fail at telling a joke, his usual sternness lacking the humor it needed for such things. The ‘tin can that could’ would indeed strive to do his best in the quest of cheering up one of his favorite initiates.

Multiple personas was his game, and skilled trickster was his name. Deacon was the very embodiment of silver tongued, meaning that he could persuade anyone out of anything if he so chose. Sole was a different case. He would feel awful trying to forcibly coax them into doing something they didn’t want to. Instead, he would approach it in a different manner. Using another ‘super power’ of his, he would constantly crack jokes around them, striving to make them laugh as much as possible. During his visits, when they would show the slightest signs of improvement, that was when he would aim to have them do the things they needed to. Deacon may have constant changes of appearance, but that would never change the way he felt towards Sole.

John Hancock:

Being the mayor of Goodneighbor was a full time job, and yet he still makes time to check up on his friends. The moment he found out Sole’s condition, he paid a visit to their humble abode. He’d first offer up his method of escape, but when they would refuse, he’d be the one to sit there and listen to whatever they would be comfortable telling him. Ghouls didn’t necessarily need to eat, but he was human once, and would know the effects of depression. Using methods that his brother did when his mind took a turn for the worse, Hancock’s endeavors would be considered intrusive, yet in consideration for Sole’s health. They would never be forceful, just filled with constant questions, mainly about how the man/woman was doing as well as the occasional enquiries on getting them to eat some sort of food.

He had his own share of problems, just like everyone else and their mother in the Commonwealth. Even if he didn’t seem like it, RJ did have a soft spot for people he cared about. His son, Duncan, and Sole being two of the most important. They traveled around together, neither having an exact place to call home, and it was blatantly obvious when Sole began to show signs of a more negative mindset. As they would walk the roads, he’d regale them of the good stories of his life, hoping that’d help in the slightest. Avoiding any conversations about his wife, since it was certain to bring up terrible memories for them both, the lot of his tales would be based around Little Lamplight and how a person that reminded him of them came through once upon a time, looking for the father. In a way, the conversation would help Sole as well as when he would share whatever he was eating with them around the campfire. It was never a large meal, but enough to survive off of and it was always best to start small.

Nick Valentine:

This synth considered himself like a father figure to Sole, so like some fathers would, he’d instantly find ways to help them through whatever was causing them discomfort. Finding the source to their depression wouldn’t be that difficult, considering he worked as a detective for a living, what would be difficult was finding a way to get make Sole happy again. They’d shift through case files together, he’d take them out to their favorite locations, there was nothing he wouldn’t do for them, within reason of course. Whatever Sole requested, whether it be hugs, someone to listen to, or just someone to be around, he’d be there. Like Codsworth, he’d try to make their favorite types of food from the Commonwealth when the time deemed appropriate. As a concerned of a father as an older generation synth could be, Nick would be the best damn parent he could be towards Sole.

Nat had been upset multiple times before, but she had never seen this level of distress before. Sole had locked themselves in their home for a few days, and no one could get in and talk to them. She didn’t like having to lockpick their door, but when desperate times called for desperate measures. Piper would instantly turn into that concerned older sister the moment she laid eyes on Sole’s condition. Without any regard for their arguments, she’d take them to get properly cleaned up and well fed. This journalist was a stubborn as the red-headed cage fighter, just in different ways. The only time she would stop caring for Blue was when they got too mad at her, and even then she would occasionally attempt to resume what she was doing, just out of pure consideration for her friend.

Preston Garvey:

The General hadn’t been seen for days. The Minutemen were growing worried about their first in command, especially since it was nearly the anniversary of the day they lost their spouse. Garvey would maintain a constant schedule dedicated to checking up on Sole, whether or not they would let him inside. He would not force them to return to their duties, he would not force them to eat, his attempts at bettering their condition would involve small, inspiring speeches of motivation. When they felt up to the task, he’d alleviate in whatever they wanted to do, as long as it improved their mood rather than worsen it from before. He’d be there for his General in more ways than one, in combat and as a person to confide in.

Who Killed the World

While the answer to ‘Who Killed the World’ isn’t arguably the central theme to Mad Max Fury Road, we couldn’t have this movie without those ‘who killed the world.’ The fact that several times throughout the movie this question is posed is important. This question only gets noticeably asked throughout the movie, but it is done in such a way that we, as the audience, should easily be able to infer the answer to.

The screen shots above, with Immortan Joe in the vault with that very question sprayed on the walls above his head, visually gives us the answer. Angharad also provides the answer when she rhetorically asks Nux ‘Then who killed the world?!’ when they’re speaking about Immortan Joe.

Pairing: Bucky x Reader, Avengers x Reader
Warnings: Violence

A/N: I just had an exam, and then next week I have exams everyday I just want to sleep please just let me sleep @ god

You were always on the run, there was no ‘safe spot’ for you, they would always find you. You had escaped HYDRA, their experiments leading to the point where you were stronger than then them. They called you the Dark Angel, and you were strong. You were able to fly and control the movements of objects or people with your mind, which made it very easy to escape the HYDRA base. But ever since then, you had been trying to make a better life out of what you were given, but you could feel the constant reminder of the pain they caused you. You knew they were after you, and you defended yourself, but sometimes things got in the way and you caused destruction you never wanted to do. You know you had killed people, innocent people, and you had done damage, but you had to do everything you could so you wouldn’t go back. You never wanted to hurt anyone, but pain is part of life.

It was only a couple months after your escape, you were in a small apartment in Brooklyn, hiding out from the men who were constantly on the run after you. You walked around in a hoodie and sunglasses, hiding your face from everyone in sight - knowing you would be recognized. You made your way through the hallway, on your way to getting back to you apartment. You unlocked your door, closing it behind you and throwing your keys down on the counter. You were cut short when something blunt hit the side of your head, knocking you against a wall, hurting like a bitch. You turned around and saw your intruder, a man with an all black body armour suit and a metal arm - you recognized him from HYDRA as James “Bucky” Barnes - The Winter Soldier. You dropped your bag and threw up your hands defensively, pitching him across the room and slamming him into a wall, catching him off guard. Once he regained composure, he sauntered back to you, throwing a punch which you easily blocked, before he swung out his leg and knocked you down to the ground, making his way over to hover you, before you flung your hands up and nailed him against a wall. His eyes were wide and you kept him in lock there, your hands holding him steady.

“What the hell do you want?” You asked, eyes dark. He tried to escape your grasp, which was held by your mind, but he stood no chance and soon stopped fidgeting.

“I was assigned by Shield to come get you,” He said through gritted teeth.

“What does Shield want with me?” You asked, eyeing him cautiously.

His eyes were harsh, “You’re dangerous, you’re a criminal. We need to control your actions,”

You loosened your grasp on him slightly, looking down at your hands, realizing he was right. You’ve hurt so many people, caused so much destruction. You’re a monster.

“You’re right,” You mumbled, letting him off, “I’m a monster,”

“No, you’re not a monster,” He pushed himself off the wall and approached you slowly, “You just need help, you need to learn how to control yourself, protect yourself. My name’s Bucky, and I’m here to help you,” You looked up into his eyes.

It had been two weeks since Bucky had brought you to Shield. You were constantly seeing a therapist, and you went through power training with Wanda Maximoff, who had very similar powers to yours. You saw yourself improving physically, you were able to prevent less destruction due to excessive intense training. But mentally, you had nightmares every night, and you were constantly reminded of your HYDRA experiences when you talked to Wanda or Bucky. You were strong, you had been able to fight off both Steve and Bucky in one of your sessions, barely breaking a sweat. But when it came to actually going out on a mission, you were too scared to go, the bad feeling that you would hurt people always looming on your chest.

“Y/N, we need to talk to you,” Tony said one day when you walked into the council room. Everyone was there; Tony, Steve, Bruce, Nat, Wanda, Pietro, Thor, Bucky, Sam, Clint and Nick Fury.

“Oh, okay,” You took a seat at the end of the table, everyone facing you making you slightly uncomfortable. Fury approached you slowly.

“We’ve been assessing your training and rehabilitation these past two weeks,” He placed a sheet down in front of you, “You’ve been improving massively, I am very proud of you,”

You smiled and nodded, “Thank you,”

“I would like to ask you something,” He said, leaning against the table, “How would you like to join the Avengers?”

Your mouth hung open, your eyes wide as you felt yourself become giddy, “Oh, my god, really?”

“Yeah, you’re a very strong person. You took down two of our strongest men very easily,” He eyed Steve and Bucky, “You’ve got incredible powers, and we know you’ll be a great addition to the team,”

Your smile was so wide that you probably looked like the joker, “Yes, I’d love to,”

Everyone cheered and walked over to hug you, a celebration very likely to happen tonight as Tony announced a party, making everyone cheer once again.

“Welcome to the team, Dark Angel!”

Tony’s party was amazing, everyone coming over to get to know you more as you were now an official Avenger. Bucky was thrilled to have you on the team, saying ‘if it wasn’t for me, she wouldn’t be here. You all owe me.’ The Stark Tower was alive with music and lights and some good alcohol and snacks, and you figured you’d probably attend many parties like this as Tony was known as a party kinda guy.

“Y/N, what are you doing all alone?” Bucky came over and sat next to you on one of the couches, and you smiled over at him.

“Nothing, just, thinking about how my life is going to change,” You looked back to the party, everyone having a blast.

“For the good?” He asked, taking a cracker from the table.

“Definitely for the good,” You smiled, looking back at him.

“You know, that day I went to recruit you, I knew there was something special about you,” Bucky said, a small smile on his lips as he looked into your eyes.

“I didn’t see anything, honestly,” You gave a small laugh, “I’m not even natural, I’ve done so much bad things, I-”

Bucky placed a finger to your lips, “Shh… that’s in the past. I know exactly how you feel, trust me. I’ve been through this. I just want you to know that you’re anything but bad. You’re amazing, you’re strong, you’re beautiful,” He trailed off, his eyes dropping to look at your lips.

“Buck..” You whispered, being cut off by him pressing his lips to yours, encapturing you in his touch. His hands found your hips, his fingers feeling as though they’re on your skin through your tight dress. He reluctantly pulled away after a long, passionate moment, and smiled at you.

“I’m sure you and I will get along very well, my Dark Angel,” He smirked before kissing you once again.

anonymous asked:

If you could, how would you end the A:TLA series? What ships would be canon? What would you change in the finale? How could it have been improved?

In my last two posts, I’ve elaborated on how I would rewrite the endings for both canon and non-canon ships, as well as ironing out some things like Iroh not staying in the Fire Nation after Zuko is crowned. So, now it’s time to look at the bigger picture!

Defeating Ozai

Everyone’s favorite moral dilemma. Some people say that Aang killing Ozai would send a message that Aang’s peaceful ways are no match for the violence overwhelming the world, and that Aang would never forgive himself if he did it. Others say that leaving Ozai alive constitutes a clear and present danger to the stability of the Four Nations, and sparing him ultimately does more harm than good. Both these groups are correct. It’s pretty clear that leaving Ozai alive causes more people to rebel against Zuko and install a megalomaniac on the throne. But it’s also clear that it’s not just about Aang defeating Ozai; rather, it’s about Aang’s positive ideology defeating Ozai’s destructive dogma. “Defeating the Firelord” is more than just killing him or depowering him; Aang has to de-legitimize Ozai’s way of thinking and the war in general.

Solution 1: Make sure Aang fully understands what’s at stake. Right before he has to face the Firelord, Aang still believes that Ozai can be turned—that showing Ozai his baby pictures can make him good again! This is cringe-inducing because it truly does make Aang seem naive, rather than merely peaceful, as if he doesn’t understand who this person is that he is risking the future of the world on. Whatever choice Aang makes, he has to understand that Ozai cannot be saved because he does not wish to be. Ozai is not like Zuko; he will never, ever change or want to redeem himself.

Solution 2: Listen to Avatar Yangchen. Yangchen offers the best advice of the four avatars, which is: this is not about Aang or Aang’s spiritual needs, but about what is best for the world. And in the previous episode, Aang himself admitted that the world would probably be better off without Ozai. The solution, then, seems abundantly clear. Energybending the Firelord does absolutely nothing to disprove this point, as the New Ozai Society confirms Ozai’s negative impact on the world without his bending, and the duel with Aang confirms that without sheer luck, Ozai would have killed everyone in sight before laying waste to the Earth Kingdom. Even if we believe that Ozai’s life is sacred, what does that make the lives of all the people who could potentially die as a result of Aang sparing him? There is an oft-quoted phrase for this decision: the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few—or the one. In this case, it refers both to Ozai’s life and to Aang’s spiritual needs as sacrifices for the greater good. Logic dictates that what is best for the world is for Ozai to die during the battle, by the Avatar’s hand, and as quickly as possible before he has the opportunity to do more damage.

(Those who argue that Ozai’s death would make the Fire Nation citizens even angrier and possibly more eager to prolong the war need to understand that while that may be their personal opinion, there is no actual evidence for this in the show or any of the extended material, nor does anyone, including General Iroh, mention this as a possible concern. The only issue at hand is whether it is acceptable to take Ozai’s life even though he is a human being, so that is the issue we will be tackling in this essay.)

Solution 3: Fight fire with fire. One of the reasons Aang ends up in his rock ball and hasn’t a prayer of making it out without the convenient shard hitting his back is because he’s constantly on the defensive during the fight. Ozai is always making the first move, which is completely counter to what Aang has to be learning in order to become a firebender. Isn’t Aang’s job to understand, not just the physicality of bending, but the mindset behind it? Hasn’t Zuko told him over and over that what he needs is to be more aggressive? Sure, maybe Aang doesn’t want to be—but to stand a chance of defeating the Firelord without compromising his principles, he will have to make the first move and stay on the offensive, looking for any opening he can. As I have said before, due to the relative difference in the combatants’ experience levels and battle skills, the longer Aang fights, the greater the chance that Ozai’s superior know-how will take him out (which is what almost happens anyway). Time to master the last element, be like a tigerdillo, and roar.

Solution 4: Listen to every fighting master on the show with regards to discipline.

I’m going to throw a few quotes out there for you:

Zuko: Enough. I’ve been drilling this sequence all day. Teach me the next set. I’m more than ready.

Iroh: No, you are impatient. You have yet to master your basics.

Aang (angrily throwing his hands wide in a gesture of frustration): I want you to stop wasting my time! I already know how to squat and breathe and feel the sun. I want to know how to shoot fire out of my fingertips!

Jeong Jeong (lowering his head): Ughhhh. I had a pupil once who had no interest in learning discipline.

Master Pakku: Katara, you have advanced more quickly than any student I have ever trained. You have proven that with fierce determination, passion and hard work you can accomplish anything. (Turning to look at Aang) Raw talent alone is not enough.

So, based on the words of these wise masters, which form a running theme in the show of taking the time needed to learn each discipline rather than walking the easy path of instant power-ups…should Aang rely on energybending as a solution even if he obtains it, if he hasn’t mastered this art as he’s mastered the others? Consider that Aang performs a technique on Ozai that he has never before practiced or even attempted, the consequences of which he does not fully understand, and which could have resulted in his soul being corrupted and destroyed (and which nearly failed anyway). Correct me if I’m wrong, but that sounds like an irresponsible and unjustified risk. Heck, by the logic of the lionturtle’s words, if Aang’s soul wasn’t corrupted and destroyed, it should follow that Ozai’s soul was. Does destruction of someone’s soul sound better than taking a life? Also, we see in LOK how traumatizing having your bending taken away truly is; I’m pretty sure it would fit the definition of cruel and unusual punishment. So, is having your energy taken really more humane than death by lightning (the A:TLA equivalent of the electric chair)? The fact is, we don’t know enough about energybending—what happens to the energy once it’s taken, what the victim goes through in the process, what mindset it involves—to make a decision about the ethics around it during A:TLA itself. And worse, its quick and sudden use goes against one of the main messages of the show. Energybending needed to be properly built up, explained, and mastered prior to the final fight with Ozai.

Solution 5: Making political sense. The only way for energybending to be the solution from a storytelling perspective is if we make it crystal clear that firebending is a prerequisite for ruling the Fire Nation, and that if Ozai ever lost that ability, no one would follow him (in contrast to what we see of the New Ozai Society’s emergence) because he could not legally be allowed to rule. Perhaps, in an ironic twist, those in the line of succession without the ability to bend are, by custom, banished! And since Ozai’s crimes are so numerous, Ozai can be banished not just anywhere, but to the Spirit World, never to return (at least with his face still intact). The other solution, of course, would be to subdue Ozai using energybending and then hand him over, not to Zuko his former abuse victim, but to an international court consisting of representatives of all nations—a U.N. stand-in, if you will. When asked why he didn’t kill Ozai, Aang could say that he doesn’t believe anyone should have absolute power in the world, even him, and that all people should have a say in what happens to the Firelord. This comes with the downside that if the court recommends the death penalty, Aang can’t overrule them, even if he disagrees—a way of acknowledging the realities of the world without totally compromising Aang’s belief system.

And one last note: Aang has not yet mastered all the disciplines, has he? Aside from more knowledge in the bending elements, maybe he could be a student to a fifth master—a nonbender, the first Avatar in history to do so, and a perfect setup for the bender/nonbender divide in The Legend of Korra.

Percy personality head canons! Like the same you did with Annabeth.

Whenever I do Percy headcanons I get tangled in canon and fall off a cliff

  • He’s a really good cook, when he has the time and energy to concentrate on what he’s doing
  • Tries to be supportive of everyone always even when he’s dying inside, and worries that he’s bad at it because he’s so bad at keeping track of things
  • He feels things very deeply. Certain things really hit hard and he’ll spend days, sometimes weeks, with it rattling around in the back of his mind. is known to bring things out of the clear blue, because they’re not actually out of the clear blue in his mind
  • His friends and family tag team keeping tabs on him because he has bad weeks when he has a really hard time managing even the simplest of tasks. They don’t tell Annabeth because they don’t want to make her feel like she’s not attentive enough, and they definitely keep it a secret from Percy because he hates feeling like a burden and wouldn’t handle it well if it ever came out
  • He has a paralyzing fear of people messing with his head and avoids the Hypnos cabin at all costs
  • The more intense his emotions the more he needs to move
  • But, he gets really still and quiet when he’s well and truly upset, and everyone who knows him well immediately starts backtracking and apologizing, no matter how angry they were before, because it’s a sure sign that they went way too far
  • People eventually learn to stop teasing him about his attention span and his inability to stick to deadlines, because it’s ableist and gross holy shit. They finally figure this out once they realize how genuinely hard he tries and are like wow… we suck, we’re really sorry
  • He’s most pleasant when he’s active. He gets irritable, depressed, and frequently zones out if he’s gone too long without activity.
  • Sometimes when they’re fighting Annabeth will say something (either really snidely or really genuinely, depending on how angry she is) like, “Go run around the block a few times and then we can talk” and if his first instinct is to snap at her then he knows he needs to listen
  • Those Big Three genes become more and more obvious as he gets older, even to strangers. Most people think it’s hot and he thinks it’s so embarrassing he literally wants to crawl under the table any time someone makes a comment about it
  • Forgets to eat often and has a terrible sleep cycle and doesn’t realize until he crashes, hard.
  • Tries to use Annabeth’s method of obsessive notating but he forgets to make the notes and forgets to read the notes and eventually needs to be medicated because he’s just so overwhelmed with simple everyday tasks
  • Can’t do school. Like. Just. Even on the days when he can get out of bed, he just can’t do school. He doesn’t have the energy to work as hard as he would need to to stay on task, and his thought patterns are either racing or way too slow (like seriously, balancing multiple mental illnesses/disorders is Fun tm 10/10 highly recommend)
  • It’s a really hard decision for him to drop out, because it feels like admitting that he can’t handle the normal life he wants so desperately, but his life improves dramatically when he has his mother around to help get him back on a regular schedule, and his relationships thrive because he’s much less exhausted and irritable
  • Takes off when he’s really emotionally distressed about something, usually without even realizing where he’s going; he just starts to feel suffocated and needs out. Unless there’s real cause for concern, people usually leave him to it, because he needs that time to himself and comes back much better for it.
  • He’s so bad at taking compliments he gets so flustered and Annabeth takes advantage of it every chance she gets, sometimes she’ll just whisper into his ear until he puts his head on the table and groans for mercy
  • Definitely the more likely partner to be too tired for sex
  • He is The Worst at keeping track of dates and anniversaries and eventually people just learn to remind him and accept it
  • Loves kids so much, he’ll drop anything always at a moment’s notice for a kid that needs help
  • Everyone uses him to keep track of the kids at the camps because he’s super fun but definitely respected and they all adore him, he’s really good at organizing games for them and finding creative ways to teach them
  • Sadly he could never be a teacher because he can’t Do School, but he teaches constantly at the camps. (have u read percy jackson’s greek gods okay HE’D BE SO GOOD AT TEACHING THE KIDS literally just imagine him narrating those exact words in front of the class they would LOVE HIM)
  • He gets super tetchy when people make “save the whales” jokes because the whales actually need to be saved it’s not funny, all his friends and family know this and are liable to launch into a fullblown explanation on why so that he doesn’t have to because he gets tired of explaining the same thing all the time
  • Big Three kids grow faster and use more energy from just like, living, than the average person and even the average demigod, so his appetite is actually quite standard for the amount of calories his body needs
  • Finally commits himself to training with his powers instead of using them purely on instinct, once he has a chance to breathe. Feels therapeutic, helps him feel like he has more control over his life, helps him to stop being so afraid of himself and slowly overcome a lot of his insecurities
  • Very strong believer in giving credit where credit is due, is typically the first person people go to with good news because he’s so genuine in celebrating with them
  • People look to him, subconsciously and sometimes consciously, to get a read on people, because he’s got really good instincts about who to trust and who not to trust. If Percy has a bad feeling about someone, after a few years, people learn to go with it.
  • Has like the nicest laugh in the world, it makes everyone feel good
  • So much more content to work behind the scenes, and only steps up on a needed basis, because as much as he hates pressure he could never dump it on someone else’s shoulders if they didn’t want it either
  • His happiness is very dependent on other people’s happiness
  • Has a bad habit of ignoring his own needs because he’s too focused on everyone else’s
(You Drive Me) Crazy

for @hiddenpolkadots: HAPPY BIRTHDAY NAI <3

It’s really not so much that Clarke chose to not be able to drive.

It’s just how things happened to work out for her.

Between her parents, her friends, and the driver employed to chauffeur her around up until she’d graduated high school, she’s just never really had much cause to learn.

And then she’d left home for college and met Raven, who’d rolled her eyes but proceeded to teach her to navigate bus routes and the metro.

And then Uber became a thing. Lyft, too.

So, yeah, strictly speaking, she just doesn’t really need to be able to drive herself around.

But sometimes, she still really wishes she could.

Like when her annoying as fuck partner won’t fucking shut up about the fact that she can’t.

Real Name: Kim Minseok
Birthday: March 20, 1990
Position: Lead Dancer, Lead Vocalist
Power: Frost
Subgroup: EXO-M
Brief Description: Xiumin, our dear Baozi, is the oldest member of EXO. This half-fifty hyung makes sure that all the little shitheads in EXO actually get things done and are productive members of society. I honestly adore his singing, and his dancing is amazing. Even though he’s short, he can pack a punch - damn, have you seen those abs?? Plus his amazing XiuGuns?? P.S. he is literally the most gentle, sweet creature alive, until you put him in the same room as Baekhyun. Then you’re looking for a fight.

Real Name: Kim Junmyeon
Birthday: May 22, 1991
Position: Leader, Lead Vocalist
Power: Water
Subgroup: EXO-K
Brief Description: Suho, the protective leader of EXO, is one of the sweetest things on this earth. He cares more than anything about EXO and EXO-L, and would do anything to protect them. Aside from that, he is the most awkward human being to ever walk the earth. I often find myself mumbling ‘Suho is me’ when watching this awkward grandpa be himself. However, it’s his charm.

Real Name: Zhang Yixing
Birthday:  October 7, 1991
Position: Main Dancer, Lead Vocalist
Power: Healing
Subgroup: EXO-M
Brief Description: Lay has become one of my top biases, right alongside. He is honestly the sweetest angel on both heaven and earth. He puts his whole life into the members of EXO and EXO-L, and probably cares more about everyone than even Suho does. He’s an amazing vocalist, and his dancing is just … oh lord. Not only that, but he’s super skilled in other musical talents, like writing music and playing instruments. He can’t even read sheet music! He does it all by ear. I honestly have a ton to say about this little unicorn, but I don’t wanna waste your time …

Real Name: Byun Baekhyun
Birthday: May 6, 1992
Position: Main Vocalist
Power: Light
Subgroup: EXO-K
Brief Description: Baekhyun is one member of the trio known as the Beagle Line; made up of Baekhyun, Chanyeol, and Chen, these are the three most hyper members who act like … well … beagles, hence the name. His voice is amazing, and he’s just so adorable! Plus his hands are absolutely beautiful. He also has the amazing talent to annoy the shit out of everyone - even Minseok beats the shit out of him, and that boy is an angel.

Real Name: Kim Jongdae
Birthday: September 21, 1992
Position: Main Vocalist
Power: Lightning
Subgroup: EXO-M
Brief Description: This little boy has somehow made it to one of my top biases. He has a knack for pranking the other members, but is amazingly good-natured. He cares a whole lot for the members, and is always making sure that they’re well taken care of. He also has immense respect for EXO-L, and treats them so kindly. His voice is absolutely beautiful, I swear. I can never get enough of it.

Real Name: Park Chanyeol
Birthday: November 27, 1992
Position: Main Rapper, Vocalist
Power: Fire
Subgroup: EXO-K
Brief Description: Chanyeol, aka the Happy-Virus, is constantly smiling. It’s hard to find a picture of him not smiling from ear to ear. Despite his cute face, his voice is surprisingly deep, and his rapping even deeper. Recently, his amazing acting skills have been broadcasted to the world via SM’s web drama EXO Next Door, where he plays a character quite the opposite of him. He’s really improved a lot since debut, this gentle giant, and I hope he continues to.

Real Name: Do Kyungsoo
Birthday: January 12, 1993
Position: Main Vocalist
Power: Strength
Subgroup: EXO-K
Brief Description: This squishy little baby is quite talented in going from absolutely adorable to absolutely terrifying in .03 seconds. Around most of the members, especially Baekhyun (see how I told you he annoys everyone?), he’s somewhat abusive, but around Kai he is very gentle and smiley. Also, he’s probably got one of my favorite voices in EXO - he sounds amazing no matter what language he’s singing in, whether it be Korean, Mandarin, Spanish, English, or whatever else he’s done.

Real Name: Huang Zitao
Birthday: May 2, 1993
Position: Main Rapper, Vocalist
Power: Time
Subgroup: EXO-M
Brief Description: Little TaoTao is a little angel. I could go on a huge rant about how SM has treated him horribly, but it would be a waste of time because I’m sure that by now you know the circumstances. All I can do for now is relish in the fact that he’s taking a long-needed break in LA. Aside from this, he’s EXO’s own little fashionista, with one of the deepest voices - almost as deep as Chanyeol’s. His singing is wonderful, and his rap can melt your soul. Never doubt the ever-wonderful Huang Zitao.

Real Name: Kim Jongin
Birthday: January 14, 1994
Position: Main Dancer, Lead Rapper, Vocalist
Power: Teleportation
Subgroup: EXO-K
Brief Description: Dear NiNi has two personalities - Kai and Jonin. Kai is a sexy, talented player, while in reality, Jongin is a little puppy who is all smiles. He has 3 dogs - Jjang-ah, Mong-gu, and Jjang-gu, who he treats like his very own children. His dancing is beyond amazing - there’s a reason he’s the main dancer - and his voice is probably one of my favorites in EXO. Recently he’s been singing a lot more, which I’m extremely happy for.

Real Name: Oh Sehun
Birthday: April 12, 1994
Position: Lead Dancer, Rapper, Maknae
Power: Wind
Subgroup: EXO-K
Brief Description: This is my child, Oh Sehun. Sehunnie is a little shitface who needs to be punches, but at the same time he is an angel who needs to be wrapped in a blanket and snuggled. Recently, he’s broadcasted his acting talent on SM’s web drama EXO Next Door, and I couldn’t be any more proud of him. He likes bubble tea and finds joy in annoying his hyungs. This boy is the true devil.

Seriously, all you need to know is that they’re all big dorks who are super talented. That’s literally all there is to EXO.

Naruto being self-conscious towards Sakura about his arm (you know, if it doesn't magically reappear in the future or anything!)

Naruto tried pushing himself up once more, but his arm kept on trembling and collapsing. The rain kept falling and he could taste the wet mud on his mouth. He needed to improve, get stronger, but he was getting nowhere. His arm ached. He was almost depleted with chakra. He’s been training for the entire day, trying to find a way to use his chakra. He consulted Lee and Gai-sensei for taijutsu tips, but they just wore him out and he still wanted to use his chakra. He didn’t want to constantly depend on Kurama and Sage Mode was only temporary, and without shadow clones, it was useless in battle.

He pushed himself up one more time, but his arm trembled and Naruto found himself crashing onto the mud once more. He punched the ground in frustration, his shout echoing across the training grounds. He hated this. He hated it so much. He turned his body, so he lay on his back. The rain fell on his face, hiding the tears. He wanted to get better, use jutsu again, but it was impossible. He needed another arm, but he didn’t want to depend on Kurama all the time. He was able to use chakra arms with Kurama, but what if a situation arises when Kurama can’t help him. He can use taijutsu and sage mode for a bit, but those are only temporary. He practiced movements with wind nature chakra, but most of the use jutsu that require hand seals. He wanted to use his clones. If there was something he wanted back, it was his arm.

He sighed. They tried everything. Sakura and Tsuande tried making him a prosthetic arm, but it didn’t work. It didn’t feel right and his charka control wasn’t as good as Sakura’s, so he kept destroying them whenever he tried flowing his chakra through them. He didn’t know what to do. He still didn’t master the thunder god flash technique, so he doesn’t know if he’ll be able to fight with one arm just like his father did. He wanted to fight without Kurama, on his own. He didn’t want borrowed power. He vowed he’s get stronger with his own power, and no matter how many times people say it’s ok if he uses Kurama, he feels ashamed. It wasn’t his power. He’ll only use it when the situation calls for it, like during the war.

He heard footsteps approach him and sighed. He didn’t want her to see him like this. He always told her he was fine, but he knows she knew better. He sat up and stared at her, waiting for what she has to say. “Training again,” she asks, as she sat down next to him and wrapped his jacket that she wore around him, leaving her arm around his shoulders. “You need to rest. You’ve tried your best. We’ll find a way.”

Naruto sighed and tried to smile, but it was weak. He didn’t know what to do anymore. He tried everything and achieved nothing. He was tired of it all. Tired of the stares and looks of pity strangers give him. The whispers of how the Hero of Konoha is no longer what he used to be. Of how he’s become a shell of his former self. He wanted it all to go away. It was too much for him. He leaned his head against her shoulder as tears began flowing down, soaking her already wet shirt. He cried out his frustrations to her. All the pain and emotions he’s been bottling up inside him broke out and he can’t stop the tears. “I-I’m sorry…” he cried out in agony. “I-I dont k-know what to do anymore. I tried e-everything but it isn’t working… Nothing’s working… I know I can u-use K-Kurama, b-but I want to d-do this myself…”

Sakura didn’t know what to do or what words to use to reassure him, but she did what her mother would do for her. “Sssshhhh,” she whispered, wrapping her arms around his neck and holding him close to her. She slowly rocked him and kissed his head, leaving her mouth placed on it. “It’ll be alright,” she cooed, her voice soft. The last time she saw him this broken was when they lost Sasuke again and when he found out Jiraiya had passed away and each time she witnessed him at this state, it broke her heart. “We’ll just keep trying and find a way. You can use Kurama. He won’t mind and he’s your friend. He’ll want you to be strong and use his chakra. He’s a part of you and his chakra is part of you, so you’re using your strength. You’re using the bond between the two of you to give you power.”

Naruto listened to her words carefully. Will they be able to do it? They did say it was impossible for him to master the rasengan and perfect it, but he did it. He worked hard and did it. They’ll do it. They’ll find a way. “Will you be with me when we try?” he asked, fearful of her answer and hopeful she will answer yes. He felt her lips on his head again and her hands touched his cheeks. They guided his head so he faces her and he could see a soft smile and a glint in her emerald eyes, as well as tears camouflaged by the rain. “I’ll always be by your side,” she declared as she leaned forward so their foreheads touched. “It’s a promise of a lifetime.”

Naruto smiled for the first time that day. He nodded in agreement. “Promise of a lifetime,” he said. He didn’t know who moved first, but he leaned forward and kissed her in the rain. Her lips were soft yet salty from the rain mixed tears. The kiss didn’t feel strange at all, it felt right. It was a simple kiss, yet it told them of all the words left unsaid. Naruto wouldn’t have had it any better.

They slowly let go of the kiss, Sakura’s hands still held on his cheeks. She smiled nervously but had a happiness in her eyes that made his heart melt. “So…” he started, a light chuckle. “Shall we go on a date now?” She grinned and nodded. “Make sure it isn’t Ichiraku ramen though.”

They both stood up and grabbed the other’s hand, well Sakura grabbed Naruto’s only hand. This was the beginning of something new, and they would go through it together.
