I so badly wanted for this to be false.

I don’t know what it is I’m feeling right now. I’m angry. I’m beyond infuriated with the disgusting account that leaked this. It’s unfair for this person to keep getting away with this bullshit when Harry and his family have been nothing but kind. I’m angry at the sense of entitlement that certain “fans” have– going through his trash and stalking his hotel.

I’m devastated. It’s the same sinking feeling I had when Jay passed. And it’s even more heartbreaking knowing how Harry could’ve been struggling this whole time in silence– just how we never knew Jay was really sick until she was gone.

But I am so, so beyond proud of Harry. My god. Stopping for fans even after something like this has happened? He’s an incredible, beautiful human being. He’s too good to us, to the world.

It’s a helpless feeling, wanting to do so much and being able to do nothing but send positive vibes and love to your favorite when they’re grieving. Especially when this person, their music, their kindness, has served as a comfort to you during your own times of trouble. The best we can do is band together, be there for one another, love those who are most important to us with all of our hearts.

I wish I could stop crying, because I know this doesn’t directly affect me. I can’t even imagine what Harry, Gemma, Robin’s children, and poor Anne must be feeling. But the truth is, we are affected. Just as we were affected with Jay’s passing. These people loved our boys with all of their hearts, they adapted to this crazy lifestyle and were always so kind. It’s heart wrenching to know that seeing Robin proudly wearing Harry’s hat at The Garage would be the last time we’d see him. Fuck cancer.

I love you all. Take care of yourselves. Please, for goodness sake, be nice. Be good. To one another, and to Harry. Send this family all the love in the world right now.

Rip Robin. You touched so many, and you will never be forgotten.

The Panic! Crash Course 2017

Okay.. So in 2005 some lovely dorks named Ryan Ross, Spencer Smith, Brent Wilson and Brendon Urie released Panic! into the world with their first album A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out. (the best album to ever be written on earth.. in my opinion)

The hit single “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” really hit it off and the album was certified double platinum (this basically means v good/much like/many buy/borkbork). It was on this tour Brent Wilson swiftly erm.. left the band and was replaced(?) by the one and only Jon Walker. This was around 2006.

The next album to be released was Pretty Odd in 2008 which was well, a pretty odd album. Not forgetting 2008 was also the year Live In Chicago became a thing! Hint: Ryan is the moon?? Euphemisms people… so many euphemisms.

Following this album Ross and Walker decided the direction of the band/music’s future was not something they wanted to be a part of and therefore departed because Urie and Smith wanted to make further changes to the band’s style of music. So here marks the next era of Panic beginning…

In 2011 the next album Vices & Virtues was released. This was Brendon and Spencers beautiful creation. This is where Brendon took over as the bands main writer of lyrics and also vocalist obviously. This album showed his hidden potential in a less groovy and more wavy sort of way. The music had a different sound but still fell under Panic! territory with its clever writing and questionable lyrics meaning. The album’s artwork was conceptualized by touring bassist Dallon Weekes who was inducted as a full-time member of the band near the end of recording. Ian Crawford also accompanied the band on tour as the lead guitarist.

In April 2013 Brendon also married his beautiful wife Sarah who we love and admire just as much as him. Vices & Virtues features a song called ‘Sarah Smiles’ which we are assuming refers to her!

Following this album our pride and joy Beebo (Brendon) found himself alone in writing the fourth album Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die! in 2013. Spencer had supposedly left the band in 2013 as he had not performed live since then. In 2015 it was confirmed. This album brought a whole mix of emotions and feelings. It possibly reflected on the past although not in a Pretty Odd sort of view. It was new, wild, matured and fiery. The progression of sound we heard in Vices & Virtues had continued.

Apologies, wrong image… okay there we go.

Finally the latest album we have seen was released in 2016 and was called Death Of A Bachelor.

Thought we were done reflecting on the past? WRONG. This wonderful album reflects on Brendon’s life, as well as delving into some of the best parts of old albums and creating an album every Panic fan whether new or old can enjoy… and so here we are now in 2017. Beebs is touring like a house on fire, and the future looks bright. I will keep this updated and we will see what the future holds. Bye for now! Adios!

What do you think about Sansa's crush on Loras? Do you think it means something that no matter how much she seems to grow as a character she still holds a crush over some pretty knight that never really seemed to care about her and she still imagines him when she kisses people (even if her thoughts get directed back to sandor)

Well… Loras is a very safe crush.

Loras plays the role for Sansa that teen heartthrobs do for many adolescent girls, a safe exploration of their growing sexuality.

The idolization of teen idols typically begins in early adolescence when girls start to become interested in romance and dating and more aware of social norms which suggest that they should have romantic feelings for someone of the opposite sex (Simon, Eder, & Evans, 1992). Rather than dating in real life, developing a crush on a teen idol is a way for girls to acknowledge their emerging sexual feelings in a safe, non-threatening way (Engle & Kasser, 2005). Because teen boys are viewed by girls as only interested in sex (McRobbie, 1991), teen idols are a preferable option. Further, they often project a feminine form of masculinity that is sexually non-threatening and thus accessible to young girls (Engle &: Kasser, 2005; Karniol, 2001; McRobbie, 1991; Sweeney, 1994).

Bitten by Twilight: Youth Culture, Media, & the Vampire Franchise

One of the most popular ways people like to hate teenage girls is to complain about their “insane” crushes on boy band members. Now, let me fucking tell you something: those big dumb crushes are what helps a teenage girl develop her sexuality in a safe environment that she can control. In her world, she can listen to One Direction and hear all these songs about how great she is, and how much these cute non-threatening boys want to make her feel special. Why is this so important? Because no one is pushing them. There’s no fourteen year old boy shoving his clammy hands down your shirt without your consent. These fantasy boys are not convincing a girl to send naked pictures, only to show all their friends and call her a slut. In the fantasy land of boy bands, the girl has all the power. And we need to stop judging them for wanting to escape into that.

–Meghan Harper, “Why I Fucking Love Teenage Girls”

ASOIAF is a medieval-style world, so it of course doesn’t have pop idols and movie stars, but it does have tournaments and tourney champions, who play that role for the adolescent girls of Westeros. (And the boys, too. Consider Bran’s idolization of knights, especially the Kingsguard.) And Loras Tyrell is not just one of the best upcoming stars of the tourney scene, but he’s so dreamy handsome, young, and from one of the best families of Westeros. (Even Robert Baratheon crushes on him, in a manly way.)

Now, the fact that Loras is actually gay (as are so many teen heartthrobs - George Michael, we miss you) makes him even safer, whether Sansa consciously realizes it or not. This is all the more important, since because of the close circles of Westeros aristocracy, Sansa Stark has far more of a chance of personally interacting with Loras Tyrell than your typical teenage girl has with her most beloved Bieber or Zayn.

So when Sansa actually has the opportunity to meet Loras, is even led to believe she might marry him… the expression of her sexuality, while very real, is also very safe:

The sight of Ser Loras Tyrell standing on her threshold made Sansa’s heart beat a little faster.

Sansa was finding it hard to walk and talk and think all at the same time, with Ser Loras touching her arm.

I am talking to him, and he’s touching me, he’s holding my arm and touching me.

Desperately she tried to think of something clever and charming to say to him, but her wits had deserted her. She almost told him how beautiful he was, until she remembered that she’d already done that.

Ser Loras in white silk, so pure, innocent, beautiful. The dimples at the corner of his mouth when he smiled. The sweetness of his laugh, the warmth of his hand. She could only imagine what it would be like to pull up his tunic and caress the smooth skin underneath, to stand on her toes and kiss him, to run her fingers through those thick brown curls and drown in his deep brown eyes. A flush crept up her neck.

–ASOS, Sansa I

Or, for a visual representation:

Now, the trouble (or not?) is that this safe crush of Sansa’s is no longer something she can rely on. Whether it’s because of her aging into womanhood, or because of her actual experiences with sexuality – the dark masculine danger of Sandor Clegane, her marriage to Tyrion Lannister (including seeing him nude and sleeping next to him in bed for weeks), the explicit rape threats of Joffrey Baratheon and Marillion, the disturbing attentions and unfatherly kisses of Petyr Baelish – when she wishes to escape into her formerly favorite safe fantasy of Loras Tyrell, it twists away from her into something else:

Before she could summon the servants, however, Sweetrobin threw his skinny arms around her and kissed her. It was a little boy’s kiss, and clumsy. Everything Robert Arryn did was clumsy. If I close my eyes I can pretend he is the Knight of Flowers. Ser Loras had given Sansa Stark a red rose once, but he had never kissed her… and no Tyrell would ever kiss Alayne Stone. Pretty as she was, she had been born on the wrong side of the blanket.
As the boy’s lips touched her own she found herself thinking of another kiss. She could still remember how it felt, when his cruel mouth pressed down on her own. He had come to Sansa in the darkness as green fire filled the sky. He took a song and a kiss, and left me nothing but a bloody cloak.

–AFFC, Alayne II

Note that there are many analyses of “the unkiss” (link 1, link 2), Sansa’s imagined memory of being kissed by Sandor the night of the Blackwater, but what many point out is that it is again an attempt by Sansa of a safe fantasy, a subconscious attempt to control and understand and romanticize a frightening sexually-charged situation. It’s just several octaves away from her non-threatening fantasies of kissing and touching the “beautiful” Loras.

And though you say Sansa still holds this crush, please note that Loras is only mentioned in Sansa’s narrative once in AFFC (that scene above), where she recognizes that Loras’s attentions were nothing real, no kisses, just a rose. Also, when she thinks about the men who helped her in King’s Landing, Loras is not one of them. Furthermore, he’s not mentioned at all in her TWOW preview chapter – which, considering it focuses on an upcoming tourney and the young knights who wish to be its champions, should be a perfect occasion for the pretty knight Loras to stroll through Sansa’s head, and yet he does not.

So I would say that Sansa’s adolescent crush on Loras is something perfectly understandable… and also something she has outgrown. I hope that helps!

Actually I really appreciate all the mp100 antagonists. They’re so varied in scale and character, the only common denominator is that most of them try very hard to better themselves after coming into contact with Mob. That’s so Nice compared to the vast majority of super hero fiction where the villains are just beaten into submission and that’s that.

I can’t think of any other story in the same kind of genre where a couple of former terrorists ending up as super market clerks and another going back to school after having been isolated from normal society for half his life is unironically celebrated as a great and admirable thing? And it’s never in a way where tragic backstories or difficult circumstances excuse their actions, but more of a general philosophy that it’s never too late to realize that you can be a better person. Maybe not a great person, but a better one.

That aside the antagonist lineup in this series sounds like an insane mess. I mean, look at this:

  • Dimple: An evil spirit wants to become a god and decides the best place to start is to form a cult and brainwash people into joining it. After Mob nearly exorcises him he tags onto the kid with an ulterior motive of manipulating or possessing him, but instead ends up becoming his friend (whoops)

  • Teruki: An egomaniacal 14 year old gang leader is so enraged when Mob dares suggest that he’s not as much of a special snowflake as he thinks he is that he nearly strangles him to death. After being obliterated by Mob’s autopilot death mode and general strength of character, he is so astonished by the boy that he IMMEDIATELY reforms himself like he found Jesus and the meaning of life.

  • Claw’s 7th branch: A branch of an esper terrorist group, led by a screechy little man who throws a temper tantrum when someone dares point out that he is a ridiculous, screechy little man. After a serious verbal smackdown from Reigen, most of the other espers come to terms with the fact that beating up children and terrorizing people weaker than themselves is pretty pathetic and cruel, and so they do their best to reintegrate into society.

  • Mogami and Minori: A relentless school bully is possessed by the world’s most bitter man and together they are the duo from hell. Well. There really is nothing funny or nice about this one. The world’s most bitter man learns nothing and Minori probably cries a lot.

  • Touichirou and the rest of Claw: The terrorists are back with their big boss who wants to take over the world in true super villain fashion. Everyone realizes he’s a huge jerk and band together to take him down. More ex-terrorists resolve to reintegrate into society as more wholesome people. One of them is a severely anxious mess who doesn’t have anywhere to go, so Mob and Reigen just kind of take him in. Just like that.

  • Broccoli/Psycho Helmet: Dimple reverts to his shady ways and manages to establish a pseudo-religion with the help of a giant, sentient broccoli (yep). The entire city ends up brainwashed and the broccoli goes rogue to protect itself from anyone trying to harm it. Dimple realizes he cares more about Mob than becoming a god and fucking dies saving the kid from death by large vegetable. Not cool.

  • Mob/???%: Mob’s autopilot death mode goes haywire after he is run down by a car. Everyone’s crying, nothing is fun. Why do you have to be like this, ONE :(
NEW DIRECTION

How Louis Tomlinson survived the break-up of the world’s biggest boy band and became his own man

Coming out of a dissolving boy band must be a bit like being an entrant in one of those dystopian jungle fights –a Hunger Games- style event in which bandmates are scattered across an unknown terrain and challenged to slog their lonely route back to fame. Justin Timberlake, after NSync, enjoyed the unsporting edge of natural talent and crushed his former colleagues. Robbie Williams looked supreme in the Take That scrimmage, at least until Gary Barlow circled back, gathered up the other three, and made the fight a more compelling four- on- one. By the time One Direction announced they were to go on indefinite hiatus in 2015, many of us were familiar enough with the conventions of boy-band bloodsport to start picking favourites for the coming melee.

Harry Styles – charming, a grinner – was best placed to succeed on his own. Big-lunged Zayn Malik was already out of the band by that time and had used his head start to good effect, preparing a solo album that went to No 1. Liam Payne and Niall Horan – always second-tier members – were given middling chances. And ranked last in any serious analysis, the most fitfully appreciated member of One Direction, was Louis Tomlinson. Here was a combatant you might expect to find curled up in a fox hole on the battlefield, pale and chain-smoking.

It is in roughly this position I find the 25-yearold, one afternoon earlier this summer. Slender, tracksuited, a little wan under his manicured facial hair, Tomlinson sits on a garden bench outside the photographer’s studio and rewards himself with an entire pack of cigarettes. “I know, I know,” he says of the smoking. “It’s not great. But there’s so much hurry-up-and-wait in this job. It helps me get ready to go again.”

I’ve often wondered why the fringe members of boy bands do this to themselves. Why they gather themselves to “go again”. As Tomlinson acknowledges, in One Direction he was seen by some as “forgettable, to a certain degree”. “The others have always been… Like Niall, for example. He’s the most lovely guy in the world. Happy-go-lucky Irish, no sense of arrogance. And he’s fearless. There are times I’ve thought: ‘I’d have a bit of that.’ Zayn, back in the day. He could relate to me on a nerves level. In the first year we were both the least confident. But Zayn has a fantastic voice and for him it was always about owning that. Liam always had a good stage presence, same as Harry, they’ve both got that ownership. Harry comes across very cool. Liam’s all about getting the crowd going, doing a bit of dancing…” And then there’s you. “And then there’s me.” Tracks from Tomlinson’s solo record have been playing inside the studio. They’re modest, rather lovely pop songs that in their quiet way seem to acknowledge his underdog status. Tomlinson lights another cig. “You know I didn’t sing a single solo on the X Factor,” he says, recalling the time back in 2010, when One Direction were first put together as a band on the ITV reality show. “A lot of people can take the piss out of that. But when you actually think about how that feels, standing on stage every single week, thinking: ‘What have I really done to contribute here? Sing a lower harmony that you can’t really hear in the mix?” He guesses, smiling wryly, that in those months he was best known as “The kid wearing espadrilles, stood in’t back.”

Not the best singer, not the high-energy guy, not the dude, Tomlinson discovered he was the one in the band who was most tuned into backstage logistics – the one who paid attention when “the 20th approval form” was passed around for a signature. “And if there was any bad news that needed giving to the label I’d always be designated to have the argument.” Later this would lead to Tomlinson founding a small record label of his own, Triple String, and to starting a side project managing a girl band. In his day job with One Direction, meanwhile, he toured the world, released five albums and amassed a large, equal-parts fortune like the rest of the boys. Somewhere en route, Tomlinson says, he found his feet as a performer. “In the last year of One Direction I was probably the most confident I ever was. And then it was: ‘OK, hiatus!’”

Tomlinson argued against it, he says, when the band first sat down to discuss separation. “It wasn’t necessarily a nice conversation. I could see where it was going.” Tomlinson remembers his instinctive assumption being simple. He would step away – try writing for other people, keep his label going, wait the “two years, five years, whatever it be” until One Direction reformed. “If you’d asked me a year or 18 months ago: ‘Are you going to do anything as a solo artist?’ I’d have said absolutely not.”

What changed? If the management stuff made you happy, I say, why not sit back and focus on that? “But then I’d be conceding,” he says. Conceding to who? To what? He waves his hand in the air. He could mean anything:

Niall is the most lovely guy, Zayn has the voice, Harry is very cool, Liam gets the crowd going… And then there’s me

I honestly think they’ll write books about One Direction fans. They are so fanatical. The intensity. It’s remarkable

history, bandmates, doubters, the press. Tomlinson is quiet for a while and eventually says: “I’m trying to work out why it is that I’m [doing this], now that you’ve asked that question.” He fidgets and trials a few answers that run out of steam. “It’s frustrating, because I know what I want to say and I can’t articulate it.” He pats for his lighter. The odds are against this tilt, Tomlinson seems to understand. But as we start to talk through his reasons for at least trying, I find myself hoping that this Last Directioner makes an unlikely go of it after all.

pop industry has an ineREASON ONE . TH E luctable momentum, and the star who begins something ( like a skier inching off a hilltop) can quickly find themselves bound to ride out whatever thrills and trials comes next. Tomlinson gives the example of how he first became famous. Born in Doncaster in 1991 he was raised by his mother, Johannah Deakin, and later also by her new partner Mark Tomlinson. He was 16 when he went to his first X

Factor audition. Prompt rebuff. A year later he made it into the audition process, but still nowhere near the part where ambitious young singers are briskly embraced or condemned by that great gatekeeper of celebrity, Simon Cowell. In 2010 Tomlinson, twice unlucky, gave the auditions a final try.

“I told myself I’ve just got to get to Simon, get his opinion, that’s all my ambition was. Then all of a sudden everything changed. To my friends in Doncaster I would always say [getting into the band] was the most incredible thing that happened to me. And it was. But it happened when I was already having the best year of my life. I was 17, 18, just started driving, didn’t need fake ID any more, going to house parties. That’s the time. That’s the age. And to a certain degree… ‘Having it taken away’ is the wrong phrase. But there was a price to pay.”

He says his current efforts as a soloist came about in similar fashion. In 2016, Tomlinson had become a father. (His son, Freddie, “who I love so much”, was born after a brief relationship with a Californian stylist called Briana Jungwirth.) He had some other personal matters to work through and in the summer he went on holiday to Las Vegas to blow off steam. At a club the American DJ Steve Aoiki was playing. Tomlinson, giddy with delight from Aoiki’s set, suggested to the DJ they try writing something together. In career terms, he had inched off the hill again, without necessarily considering the gradient of the slope.

A few months later, Tomlinson says, a single he’d written with Aoiki was being rolled out for release through One Direction’s old record label, Syco. Tomlinson was booked in to perform it on live TV. “And I was, like: ‘Did I really think this through?’”

Which leads Tomlinson to reason two. He’s well aware he was fast-tracked into his music career. That, as a part of One Direction, he was only a piece of a “heavy machine”. And as a self-aware northerner, from a proudly working class family, this has left Tomlinson with residual guilt to answer about wealth and status that do not feel to him fully earned. “And I know, I know it sounds ungrateful. But I think about a man, on a nine-to-five, working his arse off for six months so he can go to his family and say: ‘Guys, I’m taking you to Disneyland.’ That moment… I’ll never have that in my family life. And I’ve worked hard. But I’ve never worked hard, not like that.”

Tomlinson says he has already sweated more for this record than any before. When you’re putting together material as a soloist, he says, you quickly learn that those hot-shot collaborators who once dribbled to work with One Direction no longer pick up the phone

so readily. “I couldn’t say to you now that I could definitely get a superstar writer in a session with me. And I understand that.” Tomlinson adds, with no real vinegar: “Harry won’t struggle with any of that.”

In their One Direction days, no question, Styles got the most attention. But all the boys had their devotees and Tomlinson wants to prove to his own fans – reason three – that he’s been worth the backing all these years. “I honestly think they’ll write books about One Direction fans,” Tomlinson says. “Because they are so fanatical. The intensity. It’s remarkable.”

Tomlinson cannot talk about it with me, not without getting into muddy legal waters, but there was recently a difficult episode involving a small crowd of fans at an airport in LA. He was travelling with his partner, Eleanor Calder, who is viewed with some distrust by the fiercest corps of Louis fans. Video footage seems to show Calder being surrounded and attacked by a group of girls. Tomlinson, unable to discuss the matter, says to me more generally that he hopes his new music will reveal to fans a more complete version of himself than before. “Honestly, it’s crazy. It’s hard for a lot of people who are fanatical to believe that you are a real entity and a person.”

Which brings us to reason four. Reason four Tomlinson discusses with caution. Reason four he enshrouds with disclaimers: that it is not his intention to tell “a sob story”, that “I don’t like people feeling sorry for me”. Reason four concerns his mum.

Johannah Deakin was diagnosed with leukaemia in early 2016. Tomlinson had been worried his luck would run out; that having been “dealt that amazing hand” to squeak into the last berth in One Direction, he was due some sort of equalising blow. And he gives a bleak little laugh when he recalls where he was when the terrible phone call came. “At Jamie Vardy’s wedding of all places. Talk about your places, for something super-traumatic. My mum told me, uh, yeah, that she was definitely terminal.”

They were unusually close. He recalls how she was often one step ahead “because she had the password to my email”. It was an intimacy he attributes to them being close in age. “I remember the day I lost my virginity. I hadn’t even told any of my mates and I was, like: ‘Mum? I know this is really weird. But I’ve got to tell you…’ I remember thinking this is a bizarre conversation to be having with your mother. But it’s testament to how comfortable she made me.”

When Deakin died, in December 2016, Tomlinson was only days away from the live gig he’d agreed to do on the X Factor. “I remember saying to her: ‘Mum, how the fuck do you expect me to do this now?’ And she didn’t swear much, my mum. She’d always tell me off for swearing. And this time she was like: ‘You’ve got to fucking do it, it’s as simple as that.’ It was football manager, team talk stuff.’” The footage of Tomlinson’s performance that weekend is hard to watch. When he first appears on the X Factor stage he looks rigid, almost plastic, with grief. He’s clearly able to lose himself in the three-minute drama of a pop song. And after that the colour drains right back out of his face.

Tomlinson smokes for a bit. He says: “I’m not gonna claim this is all for me mum. But it was definitely… It was…”

He thinks. Throughout his life, he says, his mum always had greater belief in him than he did. “Sometimes my reservation, or my confidence, might have prevented me from doing something. And I’ve needed a mum in the past to kick me up the arse and go: ‘You’re doing it.’”

The boy bander has his reasons, then. “I’ve enjoyed this,” he says. “An opportunity to talk super openly. Not, y’know, answer questions about who my favourite superhero is. I don’t feel I get that many chances.”

The pile of cigarette butts in front of him has mounted to quite a height. Tomlinson, seeming to notice it for the first time, mutters: “Sorry. I’ve been chaining.” His mum hated smoking, he says. Then he smiles. “Though I remember she had the occasional cigarette herself.”

He taps his lighter on the table and asks what I make of everything he’s said. “Do you think your readers are still gonna wonder: ‘Why doesn’t he just not do it?’”

I’m not sure, I tell him, trying to be honest. But let’s see.

The day I lost my virginity, I hadn’t even told any of my mates, and I was, like: ‘Mum? I know this is weird but I’ve got to tell you…’

Meeting Me

Hey all! So, the votes are in, and people want me to introduce myself.

Hey :) My name is Rekina! I’m from a small town In Saskatchewan where aliens invading would be the least strange thing Ive seen. It wouldn’t even crack the top ten. I’m 19, and working as a reporter at my local radio station (Yes I go on air, yes it’s fun)

I’m a story teller by nature and by choice! I’m working on finishing and getting my first novel published. I just passed 45,000 words this morning. I’m also an avid reader, and I love music. I love to sing, and i play trumpet!

As most of you have probably seen, i tend to end up in some bizarre situations, and I decided to share them with the world so you can all laugh at my pain.

I’m one of those people who went from hating everything about themselves to high self esteem and confidence. I interview bands and politicians without a problem, usually sassing their heads off and generally being witty.

I figure introductions are best accompanied by pictures to get a feel for who I am.

some days i look like this:

or this

and sometimes this

But then i also tend to look like this

or this

and even this

You could definitely say I am a goof ball.

I’m very adventurous, which often leads to my strange situations. I’m a Gryfindor, and a Thunderbird (The reckless house and the reckless house dammit) I love hiking, photography, and cliff jumping!

I do a lot of travelling, and I always have a tendency to go off the beaten path

I am also a absolute klutz, which has lead to me almost dying many times

Yeah I almost tumbled off the top of Arthurs Seat, Edinburgh. Not particularly high, but it still would have sucked.

While i often find myself in many dangerous situations, I have a tendency to never actually get hurt. Survived a stingray: check! Got chased of a 40ft cliff by a angry chicken: sprained my ankle, but totally fine. Usually i end up in these situations by my own stupidity. For example:

So in this photo I made my travel buddy sit on my legs (as this is a very steep hill) so i could dangle over the edge and get a picture of some cool scottish grass.(Cough, nerd!) She snapped this photo to show photographers do ridiculous things to get a photo. However i didn’t check out the area first. At first I though the grass was just poking me extra hard, cause my arms and chest were stinging. It wasn’t grass

I had laid in a patch of stinging nettle which like poison ivy for those who don’t know. This was at the beginning of our trek to the top, so i just kinda dealt with it. I was covered in itchy red welts and blisters for the better part of 5hrs ( we moved slow because one of our companions was on crutches. I physically had to push her butt up in some spots, but we made it)

Due to my own stupidity i also almost fell off the Cliffs of Moher. (800foot cliffs in ireland) I wanted to see what they looked like straight down, crawled right to the edge, and stuck my chest over to take a picture looking straight down. This, however wasn’t the problem.

The sea breeze was so strong, that had I not been from Saskatchewan I would have toppled right over the edge. People behind me were screaming, “WE’LL CATCH YOU DON’T WORRY” as they, themselves are getting knocked about by the wind. I just kinda rock forward and look back like”chill ya;ll ive watered plants in worse than this” Because saskatchewan is windy af and i swear we are built with anchors in our feet because wind just does not phase us.

I’m a sassy lil canadian reportre, enjoying this incredible aliens and humans trope. And this is me!

Matty’s Interview with The Sunday Times Style

I wish I had a teenage daughter. Why? Because here I am with Matt Healy, the frontman of the 1975, who has just offered to take his shirt off in order to give me a tattoo tour. There’s the one dedicated to his nana; his mum, Denise “Loose Women” Welch, is on his foot; his dad, Tim “Auf Wiedersehen, Pet” Healy, is on his arm; and his brother, Louis, on the back of a calf; there’s the one dedicated to William Burroughs, the author of his favourite ever book, Queer; then there’s the one on the inside of his left wrist… of his passport number. “I got bored of being constantly woken up by a woman offering me a landing card while my tour manager, who always carries my passport, is conked out somewhere behind me. I thought it would be useful. It’s really all I need on a plane.

Welcome to the world of the 1975, whose second album, I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It (yes, really), went straight to No 1 in both America and the UK last year, and who won the best band award at the Brits in February. They have just announced that their third album, Music for Cars, will be out next year, and when we meet they are about to go on tour, kicking off in Mexico and ending in July at Latitude Festival in Suffolk, where they will headline alongside Fleet Foxes and Mumford & Sons. If you’re not familiar with their music — think Pete Doherty mixed with One Direction, maybe — it’s probably because, like me, you’re too old. That said, Mick Jagger, whom the band supported when the Stones played Hyde Park in 2013, is a huge fan — so fond of their hit single Chocolate, he has been known to put it on after dinner for guests.

Yeah, I remember that gig,” says the 28-year-old Healy, with a faint Northern accent. “It was before I had my eyes lasered and I wasn’t wearing my glasses. Pointless. There were 50,000 people there and I could only see about four of them, but out of the corner of my eye I could just make out this gyrating figure and it was Jagger dancing to Chocolate. Mick Jagger — can you f****** believe it?

Insomnia

This was requested sometime back. I’m not too thrilled with it, but it wasn’t going to get much better than this. I had something else written, but decided to write about something I had personal experience with instead. Thank you all for your patience and for reading!

The blaring horn sound of Shawn’s alarm echoed through the bus, letting me know that it was seven in the morning. I didn’t move, continuing to stare at the ceiling of the back room which I had been doing for the past two hours. I was exhausted, mentally and physically, yet sleep seemed content with skipping over me the last three nights. It was my first-time visiting Shawn on tour and from night one, it was a disaster.

I had been sick before I’d even arrived. I had a cough that just wouldn’t go away and it peaked the second day I was here. Shawn took me to Urgent Care without hesitation as I was wheezing and could hardly breathe. After a chest x-ray, it was confirmed that I had a mild case of Walking Pneumonia. I was given a breathing treatment, steroids, antibiotics, an inhaler, and extremely potent cough syrup and sent on my way.

A/N: AHHHHHHHH, I told y'all I’d be back for a sequel. I’m hoping this sequel gets just as much attention as the first series did, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed. If you’ve read the first series, then you already know that I’m all about drama and that’s exactly what this series is gonna be. Anyway, this is the first chapter and you all should look forward for many to come. If you’ve read the first series you know that I need 100 notes and feedback for the next chapter. Enjoy my lil nuggets💕

Oh and most of this chapter is in italics because they’re flashbacks.

The moment you found out you were pregnant you knew that shit was about to hit the fan.You weren’t just the average twenty year old, barely financially stable college student. No. You were also the girlfriend of a famous rockstar who is in a world famous band. Plus, you also happened to sleep with his best friend and bandmate before finding out you were pregnant, therefore have no clue who’s baby it is. On top of that you were being watched, loved, and even hated by millions of people daily. Oh, and how could you forget that you were helping your best friends plan their wedding as well? Life couldn’t be any better right?

So, here you are in your living room trying to ignore your overwhelming emotions by catching up on Supernatural and eating for two while your boyfriend is out somewhere angrily driving around on the streets. Oh, and what led him to doing that was catastrophic.

Let’s start from the very beginning, shall we? Only three weeks after you first found out about the new life growing inside of you.

So Niall mentioned Eric Clapton when asked about career goals, and I think he couldn’t have chosen a better artist, because 1) if you want to be the best you have to follow in the footstepts of the best and 2) because I can’t help seeing some parallels between them.

Eric Clapton always loved music and started playing guitar when he received one as a gift when he was a kid. He started playing in bands and he was basically the guitarrist. He didn’t really start singing till he formed Cream, a rock band who achieved great sucess, and he basically played the guitar in it while also singing some songs. He formed part of some other bands, and after many break ups, he finally decided to go solo (best decision he could have made).

Basically he started being that guy who played guitar in a band and did, ocasionally, the voice in some songs, and ended being an artist that decades later still sells albums and tours. He is considered one of the biggest artists in history, he is in the Rock & Rock Hall of Fame THREE times (as a solist and with two of his bands) and he is also, as a guitar player, considered one of the best, in fact he is the number #2 in the prestigious list of Rolling Stone magazine of the “100 greatest guitarists of all time”.

I’m happy that Niall recognizes what a great artist Clapton is, and even knowing how hard it is, that he aims to have the kind of career path he has. And let me tell you that, maybe, there can’t be a second Clapton in history and it would be vain to think that a person who has just “started” in the music world can be like him, but I think that Niall is talented, hard-working and kind enough to achive great things too on his own way.

(Also as a fun fact, Eric Clapton is known in the music word with the nickname of Slowhand, a funny coincidence)

  • Newsies Boyband AU!
  • Now first of all I would call them the Newsboys but like…that’s a real band that exists so idk what their name would be
  • But anyway! Boybands! Fun and cute and lots of wiggle room!
  • Crutchie
    • lead singer
    • beloved by his bandmates and by most fans but every once in awhile there’s that one fan
      • Idk I just think Charlie is overrated….he can’t sing that well, Jack has a nicer voice, and I think he only gets to sing lead because of his leg :/ I’m not ableist or anything, I just don’t like him
    • Mostly Crutchie ignores things like that but once in awhile he wonders if they’re true
  • Jack
    • lead guitar/harmonies
    • very much the Hot Onetm but people tend to overlook his talents
    • designed the logo and does all of the shirts and album covers but doesn’t make that public knowledge
    • the Crutchie Bashers usually use Jack as an excuse and Jack is having none of it he’s a master vague tweeter
      • I love all my bandmates and everyone is perfectly suited to what they do, from lights to vocals!
      • I feel like people forget Crutch and I have been best friends since fifth grade and I have videos like this cause if they didn’t they’d ask for more [video of Crutchie singing The Wizard and I at a middle school talent show]
    • he loves singing harmony, and only sings lead if somebody makes him. two songs in their repertoire include him on melody
  • Race
    • the drummer
    • (haha guess who still likes EYDW with all his heart?)
    • he’s the Wild Onetm but everyone adores him because he’s cute and funny
    • Racetrack Higgins Highlights:
      • “So I was like, fuck it-wait shit I can’t swear in interviews-fuck! Dammit, sorry, I-” “Race just stop talking”
      • he broke a snare during a concert once and put it on his head like a hat
      • pictures of him kissing everyone in the band, on crew, and even fans on the cheek but it’s because that’s what he does. In Italy. That’s how you greet people. and it just carried over
      • always wears a necklace with a shark tooth. gazes into the distance when asked where it was from and responds with, “I’ll never forget her.” Actually bought it Wings on a day off in North Carolina
      • changes hair colors every other week. fans go to two concerts in two days. first one he has bright red hair. next day it’s bright blue.
      • slowly acquiring more piercing until one day they’re all gone.
        • “Lmao you though those were real? I cried when I got a single ear piercing.”
      • then people think his tattoo is fake and it isn’t but it’s ridiculous. like literally the word “THOT” on the back of his neck. Spot dared him to.
    • so people love him even though he’s wild
  • Spot
    • designs sound for recordings and live shows
    • most fans only know him as the one goading Race on
    • but once in a while somebody recognizes him in the sound booth and is like “ahh, that’s who he is”
    • also secretly write lyrics sometimes but asks to be credited as “Sam Carlson” so his poetic writing doesn’t ruin his tough guy image
    • which makes people think of all these crazy theories as to who Sam Carlson is and why he writes songs randomly for the band
    • is the only reason Race hasn’t gotten lost on tour in a gas station
    • is the one who set up the Walkie Talkie system that keeps everyone organized
    • the star of Jack’s snapchat story half the time but never caught doing anything strange? people just know he’s awesome and says funny things
    • is the one who adopted the cat and resulted in him being named Asshole but it was an accident
  • Katherine and Sarah
    • managers and lighting designers
    • really cool and really gay
    • every time they’re doing a show around a Pride parade time or during Pride month there are rainbows and other flags everywhere
    • Sarah is also in charge of PR after the Incident of Race accidentally DMing a fan who’s username included Jack’s name something along the lines of “sup fuckface where are you everyone else is here and you’re the one who said he was bringing the good stuff”
      • by good stuff he’d simply meant the Purple Doritos but the fan didn’t know that and it took a while for people to let that go
    • People think Jack and Kat are dating for a long time because they’re always together
    • it literally took like fifty pictures of Kat and Saz kissing before people stopped denying how gay she was
  • Davey
    • plays bass but also violin and other related string instruments
    • sometimes sings a third part but not usually
    • people don’t give him much credit until there’s a new song
    • which starts out really slow and is only Jack singing and Davey playing cello but mid song it picks up and Dave changes instruments really fast like in the space of one beat to violin and goes really hard and the song tops the charts for weeks because it’s like crazy good
      • “yeah I’m a classically trained violinist, I just usually have more fun on bass” “…” “but i like that song a lot, most times I’m on violin it’s slow and boring”
    • that song is also when most of the Crutchie Bashing started because it was the first really popular one that featured Jack on melody since only Jack sang
  • Their shows are legendary for being good like the vocals the instrumentals everything is always good
  • they got their start in college where Crutchie got them into one of the theatres and it was just for fun
  • but Race, the wild one even in the very beginning, realized that they were actually really good and signed them up for some show like America’s Got Talent or something like that
  • and while they didn’t win overall, they did get enough attention to get a record deal
  • and then they just EXPLODED and became the new big thing
  • which kind of freaked all of them out a little bit because what has started as fun music with friends was suddenly paparazzi and crazy fans and people wanting to know “when is it what is it where is it how are you will you” about their songs
  • but they mostly acclimated pretty fast
    • Crutchie had the hardest time because while he’s friendly he’s also a but of an introvert and needs his privacy which was suddenly a lot harder to find
  • like most boybands, instantly there were Those Fans who shipped people
    • the most common one became Jack and Race because they seemed like the ones most likely to like each other
    • really though it was Spot and Race, who balanced each other out, and Jack and Crutchie, who’d been in love for years and only figure it out when people started trying to ship Jack and Race which made Crutchie really jealous, and the people who nobody knew as well like Specs and Romeo, Kat and Saz (at first they became better known later), etc
  • they get a really good rep with people because they’re always willing to take a selfie or like fanart as long as it isn’t creepy, or answer questions
  • Jack hosts monthly Q&A sessions on his snapchat and each time it’s somebody new
    • so like the first one is Crutchie, then Davey, then Race, then Katherine, then Sarah, the Romeo, etc
  • They don’t come out for a long time but one day they’re performing in a town where there’s this big news story about a gay kid getting harassed at school and they know the kid is there because it was the only positive thing they found on his twitter, so they all come out together like the entire band and crew
    • “So we’ve heard about some of the stuff that’s been going on here, and we want everyone to know that we don’t agree with it, at all. In fact, things like that effect us, too. I’m not the most eloquent speaker, but if you’re hurting today because of who you are, of how you’re born, know that you’ll always have support with us.”
    • And Jack kisses Crutchie in public for the first time which leads to Race stealing Crutchie’s mic and yelling something about “get up here asshat we can’t let him show us up!” and then suddenly every single couple involved in the band is on stage being proud of who they are
    • the kid who was getting bullied cried and then they invited him backstage and he cried more and it was really sweet and they stayed in touch
  • After that the Discoursetm is horrible around them for like, months
    • “reminder that Jack is dating Crutchie and shipping him with Race is not cool”
    • “reminder that we can ship whoever we want with whoever we want and it doesn’t cause harm”
    • “stop calling Jack bi when he’s gay, don’t erase his identity” (jack retweets it with the added caption “I’m bi as heck actually everyone is pretty and it’s not fair :)”
    • “they’re just faking it for attention!!!1!!1″
  • after a few years they announce it’s their last tour and people are like “oh no, what happened, did people start fighting?”
  • and their answer is “no but we’re like twenty eight now and honestly just want to get married and settle down”
    • except for Spot and Race who plan on going around the world in eighty days and then getting a dog and doing it again with the dog
    • or at least, that Race’s plan, Spot just honestly wants to stop moving around and settle down a bit, but maybe not get married yet
  • So the band breaks up and people are kinda sad but every time they’re all in one place, which is pretty often since they’re all best friends, somebody snapchat/instagram/twitter/youtube gets a new video of them messing around
  • Jack and Davey out out a solo album and it’s really good
  • Crutchie gets coerced into releasing a Christmas album and it’s funny
  • and Davey makes a Hanukkah album that’s him playing and singing traditional songs that he sang growing up and it’s gorgeous
  • Bonus: Red Carpet Tidbits
    • because I have a lot of feelings about Crutchie’s style
      • Crutchie gets known for never wearing a normal tux like it’s always custom done and never just black or navy
      • also his makeup is always On Point like crazy good and people are like “tell us your secrets” and he’s like “lol cvs and years of practice and makeup tutorials from YouTube”
  • Jack wears normal suites but there’s always a twist
    • the first was the time he actually just spilled paint on himself in the suit bc he’s an idiot but there wasn’t time for a new one so they ended up just going with it and it looked pretty okay
    • and after that he get’s suites from like Macy’s modified to look better on him and to add cool things
    • also his hat game is pretty terrific
    • he’s also a total hipster and people know it
  • Davey wears totally normal red carpet men’s attire but lets Crutchie do his makeup and look absolutely gorgeous
  • Race wears crazy stuff
    • like you know the Great Comet ensemble costume design? probably things like that. formal wear turned into punk style things and he pulls it off and lets Crutchie do his makeup too
  • the best picture of the band is from like, the Grammys or some award show like that where Crutchie is in a purple suit, Jack is wearing a beanie and a jackson pollock styled color splashed suit, dave is looking fine in a perfectly normal suit and SUPER Extra but good makeup, and Race is like barely clothed but still obviously supposed to be wearing a suit like thing and like a foot shorter than everyone
