Top 10 books recs, please?

oh, sure! sorry if this is long and boring, but i had to explain why i recommend these books and make a tiny description of what i think about them, in case you’re interested to read one and have no idea what you have to expect for it.

  • crime and punishment, fyodor dostoyevsky; along goethe’s faust, i think this is my favourite book. even though there are almost 600 pages of heavy dostoyevskian description, complex monologues and even more complex events, i literally devoured it in two days and absolutely love it. if you want a complex read but also a fascinating story with beautiful characters, you must read it.
  • agony and ecstasy, irving stone; this book changed my life. this novel, which is about michelangelo’s life, emanates such art, with its richness of information and smooth, beautifully-written prose. you’ll immediately wish to know more about art and you’ll become conscious of what a divine thing it is.
  • the blind assassin, margaret atwood; i don’t like contemporary books, but this novel is definitely an exception. her writing style is marvellous, raw, and even though the story seems kind of banal, this book is an experience. an easy, but complex and surprising read. totally recommend.
  • les fleurs du mal, charles baudelaire; baudelaire is my favourite poet for who i carry in my heart an eternal and intense love. you absolutely need to read his poems! they’re so gloomy, palpable, cold. and i love him.
  • against nature, joris-karl huysmans; this is the most pretentious book i’ve ever read, but also one of my favourite. however, it’s a book hard to love. the number of the characters is insignificant and the action is almost nonexistent. the book consists mostly on descriptions and monologues. but they’re more than beautifully-written and, oh, i can’t put it into words. life-changing. it’s a small and strange read, but its complexity is fascinating. and huysmans is such an underrated author, he’s incredible.
  • hamlet, william shakespeare
  • king lear, william shakespeare; in case you wondered what are my favourite books by him. they have, especially hamlet, a deeply important place in my heart.
  • the portrait of dorian gray, oscar wilde; i find this book an essential read only because it utterly changed my view in literature. it was my first classic. you just can’t not love this novel.
  • the aleph and other stories, jorge luis borges; he’s m a g i c a l. his writing style is extremely poetic and wondrous and his ideas are sublime.
  • faust, johann wolfgang von goethe; my absolute favourite book. my heart beats for it. every moment i live, i live with this play in my mind. my love for this piece of paradise is hard to put into words. everything about this was beathtaking and goethe is such a genius. someday, you need to read this book.
  • orlando, virginia woolf; her works are delicate, vernal, fragile. they give me an inscrutable and unique feeling. and this book is my favourite.

One of my most favourite charming treehouses I`ve ever seen

BUCKHEAD TREEHOUSE

Buckhead treehouse is a charming, almost fairy-tale cottage located in Atlanta, US state of Georgia. Nestled in the woods, this unique retreat is a real craft masterpiece. The neighborhood is a quiet, residential place where a man can relax in nature.
REPEATEDLY DESCRIBED AS BEING THE MOST RELAXING, ROMANTIC, DREAMY AND UNIQUE PLACE
Top 10 British Sitcoms! (In my personal opinion)

1) Father Ted (1995 - 1998)

What’s funnier than a bunch of bizarre priests and their clumsy housekeeper who loves tea? Well, barely anything. Hence why this is my number one.

Father Ted is one of those comedy shows that always seems to be on a channel somewhere, and no matter the episode, I’ll end up roaring with laughter. I adore this show on a magical level, and it’s definitely hard to top.

2) Blackadder (1983 - 1989)

Rowan Atkinson at his finest. Don’t get me wrong, I adore Mr Bean, but Blackadder is just spectacular. Fast paced, sarcastic and hilarious, it’s another show that I can always just pick up and burst out laughing at. One of the most interest aspects of the show though is the different era per series, however keeping the same amazing cast. Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie and Tony Robinson’s characters also having a special place in my heart due to the antics and hilarity.

3) Fawlty Towers (1975 - 1979)

The quintessential British comedy sitcom. I don’t want to say too much about this, because if you have never seen it, shame on you.

4) Black Books (2000 - 2004)

Quite simply one of the greatest, but shortest, sitcoms ever created. Anyone who has actually seen this show has regarded it as one of their favourites of all time for good reason. Black Books follows the character of Bernard Black, the owner of a shoddy and sticky bookshop, and lacks all regard or care for people. The majority of the comedy is derived from Bernard’s two ‘friends’ who attempt to make his lifestyle more socially acceptable, much to his despair. I truly recommend checking out this show, but be prepared to be annoyed that there isn’t more!

5) Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em (1973 - 1978)

Probably one of the favourite comedy shows I watch with my Grandfather. Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em follows the character of Frank, a childish, often moronic and insanely clumsy individual who only wants best for his family, although all he does is infuriate and anger people. A show with amazing catchphrases and hilarious situations, I simply adore this show.

6) Dads Army (1968 - 1977)

An amazing comedy focused on the Home Guard during the Second World War, the Home Guard were the volunteer army of those deemed ineligible for military service, usually due to age. The majority of the comedy derives from the pure uselessness of the group, and their lack of contribution to the war effort. The humour is often subtle and hilarious, I’d recommend it to anyone, I love it.

7) Porridge (1974 - 1977)

Ronnie Barker was one of the penultimate lords of comedy, that is all.

Porridge follows the goings on in the prison HMP Slade, following the character of Fletcher and his cellmate, an inmate serving his first sentence who Fletcher takes under his wing. The characters are strong and well written, as well as having amazing comedic timing and execution. The majority of the comedy comes from the interactions between the prisoners, as well as their relationships to the guards. It’s a show with a lot of heart and a lot of fun.

8) Red Dwarf (1988 - ?)

Sci-Fi and sitcom, a bizarre genre hybrid that was an amazing gamble, but alas paid off incredibly well for Red Dwarf. The show follows the interesting cast of characters aboard the ‘Red Dwarf’ ship, all of whom are odd and interesting in their own ways. Unfortunately, I would not do the show justice if I were to attempt to describe the plot, so I shall urge you to check it out yourself. Trust me when I say this is an amazing show though.

9) Only Fools And Horses (1981 - 2003)

One of the longest running and most popular sitcoms in Britain, for good reason might I add. The show primarily follows the family of Del-Boy, Rodney and their Granddad (who is later replaced by Uncle Albert due to the unfortunate passing of the actor). The show is set in Peckham, a district in the south east of London, known for it’s working class citizens, the comedy mainly deriving from the vast array of occurring characters, as well as Del-Boy’s constant attempts of quick-rich schemes, with his main catchphrase being, “this time next year, we’ll be millionaires”. The show is a lot of fun, and the characters are all well written and performed and it has truly earned its cemented place as being one of the best in British history.

10) Outnumbered (2007 - 2014)

Literally the most hilarious ‘family’ in Britain. Holy crap, I adore this show. The show is centred around a middle-class family who live in West London, the parents of whom, are ‘outnumbered’ by their 3 children. Jake, the typical teen, Ben, the hyperactive and strange child, and Karen, the oddly sarcastic child with a lot of questions, and a lot of answers.
In essence, it’s a great show with hilarious situations, Karen and Ben being the funniest and most interesting parts of the show in all honesty. Even though it’s number 10 in my list, it’s amazing and I think everyone should attempt to watch this show.

And that comes to the end of my list, have I missed anything? What are your top 10 British Sitcoms?

A special note ♡ Grayson

Summary: You leave a special note on the last page of your favourite book which Grayson happens to find. He messages you and you decide to meet somewhere to talk about the book. You may or may not fall in love with this boy…

Requested!

Lately one of the places you were visiting the most was the local library. Ever since you were little you loved reading and since it was summer break you had a lot of time on your hands. This excited your love for books again which resulted in at least reading three books a week.

Most of your afternoons you were spending in your garden: reading and listening to music. It was a nice way to relax and forget about all the problems in the world.

Last week you had finished the most amazing book you had ever read and it was without a doubt one of your favourites. The style of the writer was marvelous and the way he described the places and characters… It hadn’t left your mind since you turned the last page and had put the book down.

For some reason you got this crazy idea to put a note between the last pages of the book for the next reader to find. It said: “Hi, my name is Y/N. I just finished this amazing book and I hope you enjoyed it as well. If you liked it just as much as I did and would like to talk about it, here is my number: (…)

You didn’t know if this was the best way to talk about the book, but you weren’t interested in joining a bookclub so you thought this was the only way. The urge to talk about this wonderful book was so big and since neither of your friends liked reading it that much it wasn’t the weirdest idea, right?

~~~
It was November now and a few months had passed by since you had left the short note in the book. To be honest you had totally forgotten about it. After that specific book you had read so many others which were also pretty good.
Besides, since school had began again homework and exams were really time consuming, so there wasn’t really time for reading as much as you used to do.
Today was an ordinary day so far and you were locked in your bedroom; your desk filled with books.
As you were highlighting important things you needed to know for a big test next week, your phone lights up. At first you don’t pay really pay attention, but when a second one pops up and you don’t recognise the number, you couldn’t ignore your curiousness.
Unknown: Hey!
Unknown: I just finished the book in which you left a note :) and I thought why not send a message lol
You: Hi there :) to be honest I completely forgot about it haha… But this is a nice surprise! What did you think of it?
You shove your books to the side and go sit down on your bed, your hands holding your now buzzing phone. After an hour of sending messages back and forth you discover a lot of things about the person you were talking to.
You figure out you were talking to a 17 year old boy called Grayson Dolan. You get to know how he’s doing, what he loved about the book and that he had a twin brother called Ethan.
Suddenly you realise you had a smile from ear to ear on your face. You were starting to form a little crush for this guy and you just met him! But how? You had never seen him or even talked to him in real life. You didn’t even had a clue what he looked like. He could be an old 60 year bald man for all you know!
Grayson: Would you like to grab some coffee some time? I think I have a few books you would really enjoy :)
Your fingers hesitated above your phone screen. How did you know he wasn’t some creepy guy, trying to kidnap a girl or something? But still… For some weird reason you just knew that he wasn’t a creepy guy.
The way he responded to your messages and the way he described things… You couldn’t wrap your head around it, but you just knew. Besides, he wanted to meet you at a café. That was very public, right? What could go wrong?
You: Yeah, sure :) Where would you like to meet?
~~~

You had never in your life been so nervous for a date. Was it even a date? Probably not. So why had you dressed yourself up so much? You had at least spend an hour just on your make up this morning for a guy who problaby just saw you as a friend and nothing more. But oh well; Grayson didn’t know that.

With cold and shaky hands you push against door ope  and walk into the small café. It was pretty crowded but the atmosphere made you feel warm and cosy right away. Your eyes scan the tables, but you had no idea what Grayson looked like.

Suddenly you see the prettiest boy in the world wave at you with a small smile, trying to get your attention. You almost triple over your feet as you stumble your way between the people, making your way towards him.

‘Hi… I’m Y/N,’ you say. ‘Hey, Y/N! I’m Grayson.’ Grayson greets you. He looks genuinely very happy to see you. He gets up from his chair and comes standing in front of you. He towers over you and you almost had to lay your head in your neck to look at his beautiful face. And his arms! They were so big you thought he could lift you up using only one hand.

Grayson spontaneously plants a quick kiss on your cheek and you immediately feel your cheeks warm up. ‘Oh, uh,’ you say a bit embarrassed. ‘Oh I’m sorry. I didn’t know if it was appropriate but I just - thought that,’ Grayson stutters, realizing he had made you a bit uncomfortable. You giggle. 'No, it’s fine! Please don’t worry about it.’ Of course it was fine. Speaking of fine: he was fine as hell.

As you two sat down you couldn’t stop staring at his face. It was angelic. He had the sharpest jawline you had ever witnessed and his plump lips turned into a gorgeous smile when you told him you were actually pretty nervous before you came here. His skin was tinted and smooth and you wondered how soft it would feel.

But the thing that you adored most about him was his personality. He was funny and sweet and so nice to talk with: He really listened and never interrupted you, and cracked a joke whenever the timing was right. You already liked him. A lot.

'Can I just say that you have the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen?’ Grayson asks, laying a hand upon yours. You blink your eyes a few times, not really comprehending what he just said. 'I’m sorry, again. I’m really just saying almost everything that is crossing my mind right now. I hope you don’t mind. I just feel so comfortable with you already,’ he adds.

You smile and your heart flutters at his kind words. 'Thank you… That is so sweet. I could say the same to you, though,’ you say to him. Grayson chuckles and strokes a hand through his fluffy hair.

~~~
'So, what books did you bring?’ you ask, placing your hands under your chin. Meanwhile you were talking for almost an hour and a half and had drunk two cappuccinos. 'Oh yeah, I almost forgot!’ Grayson leans to the left to grab his bag that was stuffed with books. His arm muscles tense as he lifts up the bag and places it carefully on the table. It was so sexy.
He grabs one out of the bag and your eyes widen at the sight of the book in his hand. It looked so tiny compared to his hand. ‘Okay, so the first one is really, really good. It’s about a couple who live together, but they don’t really love eachother; which is kinda sad if you ask me. Anyway, the woman meets a guy she falls in love with, and then…’
His eyes sparkle when he shows you all the books and hands them over to you so you could flip through the pages and look what was on the covers. When his fingers stroke against your hands you feel a nice tingly feeling go down your spine and your eyes meet his. It’s quiet for a moment and he looks at you a little longer than normal before he continues. What was going on? Did he like you too or were you seeing ghosts?
After it already began to get dark outside and the café started to run empty, you decide that it was maybe smart that you should be heading home. 'Should I drive you home? It’s not really smart to go home on your own when it’s already dark outside,’ Grayson asked. 'No, it’s okay. I just live around the corner. I can walk,’ you respond.
'It’s really not a problem. I’d be happy too,’ he insisted, raising his eyebrows. 'Oh well, why not?’ you chuckled. After Grayson had paid (for you as well, since he also insisted on doing that) you put your jackets on and leave the café. Grayson was wearing a leather jacket which looked so good on him your heart started beating even faster.
It was cold and snowy outside. Grayson puts a hand on your lower back as he leads you to the car since the parking lot was a little slippery from the snow that was melting. You adored that he was so caring. It made him even more attractive.
After he drove you to your house and stopped the car, Grayson gets out and opens the porter for you. ‘Such a gentleman…’ you joke and smile at him. He chuckles while grabbing your hand so you can get out of the car without sliding. Suddenly you stand so close that you almost shared the same air. Your breath was coming out of your mouth in tiny clouds. You shiver; a mixture of pleasantness and coldness spreads itself through your body.
'Are you cold?’ Grayson asks sweetly. 'A little,’ you quietly admit and smile again. 'Well, I guess you should go inside then,’ Grayson whispers, but you don’t move. You can’t move, to be more exact. You feel frozen as you are drowning in his beautfiul brown eyes and completely forget about the world around you.
Grayson takes a step in your direction and grabs you gently by your waist, so your chest touches his. You gasp loudly. Was he going to do what you thought he was going to do? 'I had such a great time today. Thank you.’ Grayson whispers as he gets even more closer. Your cold nose almost touches his chin, but you were too small to reach his face.
Before you could answer Grayson slowly leans in. He closes his eyes and brushes his warm lips against yours. His breath on your lips made you go crazy. Then he gets even more close and puts his lips gently onto yours. You go stand on your tip toes so he could kiss you better.
His lips were heavenly and soft and even better than you could ever imagine. It wasn’t a rough kiss. He didn’t even used his tongue. It was a chaste one. A sweet and passionate one. It only lasted for a few seconds, but you couldn’t be more happy. He pulls back and looks at you so lovingly that your heart skips a beat. Oh, shoot. You were falling in love with this boy.
He entwines his fingers and places his hands on your lower back; it gave you a feeling like your bodies were melting together. 'I-I don´t know what to say,’ you whisper. You were so overwhelmed.
'You don’t have to say anything, Y/N. But I would like you to answer this question: Do you want to meet again sometime? And go on a proper date?’ You close your eyes for a moment and smile. Was this really happening? 'Yes. Definitely.’
What has been your fav dialogue to write so far?
Hmmm, most of my favourite lines I’ve written are prose not dialogue but there are a few bits of dialogue I’m really proud of.
“Enjoying the view.” “You’re routine was very good today, it was worthy of second place” and “I hate you. Now fuck me.” - from chapter 8 are all pretty high on the list because I love writing sassy Yuuri
“Good…Just be careful Yuuri. If you’re not, if you let this go too far, one day Viktor is going to break your heart again…Or you’re going to break his.” and “ the last thing in the world that’s ever going to happen is for Viktor Nikiforov to fall in love with me.” - from Yuuri and Phichit’s conversation in chapter 10 because irony
“Out on the ice today, you were stunning. The audience love you…You give yourself so freely to them. To everybody…But you came. When I asked, you came…I don’t have anything else. But I have this.” - from chapter 10 because oh boy is that one going to be fun to dissect for the companion fic
“Are you familiar with eating Russian?”/ “Ah well, I guess Viktor can just order for you.I’m sure he’ll give you something that you like.”/”Sleep well” - from chapter 12 because CHRIS
“ “You insulted me and you belittled me. You didn’t believe in me. I worshiped you and you broke my heart.”” - from chapter 12 because Yuuri finally said it
“But it’s you. How can I not remember you? I would remember you.” - from chapter 12 because again, fun times in the companion fic
“Hey asshole…Yes, I’m talking to you asshole…Don’t think I don’t know who you are or what you do…The way I see it, this goes one of two ways…Either you actually do care about Viktor, even a little bit in that stupid fucked up head of yours, or you’re using him just like everyone thinks. So I’m giving you a choice. If you do feel something for him, you tell him and stop fucking him around. And if you don’t, you stay the hell away from him. Got it?…I hope you love him…But if you don’t and you keep screwing with him, I’ll make you regret it.” - from chapter 12 because I’m so excited to go more into the context behind Yuri’s words in the companion fic
“So make me remember you when I do” - from chapter 13 because damn Yuuri
Any good fics of bughead fights? I live for those for some reason. But ones that result in resolution. If they don't I'm gonna cry for weeks
This was actually a hard question - because while I love drama that ends with a happy ending - I usually want the drama to be external in nature rather than internal. OR I want it to be an AU where it’s Enemies-Friends-Lovers… which is not what I think you’re asking is it, Grayface? Anyway - I asked around to a few friends to get their favourite fighty fics and here is a mini-list.
There is  ain’t no sunshine (when she’s gone) by @lusterrdust- this one REALLY hurt me. It was rough but awesome.
Your Eyes Look Like Coming Home by @camelotskingz- is completely AU and Betty is a total jerk to Juggie for most of it… but only kinda. It’s a soulmate AU and they do fight… but by the time you get to the second story in the series - it’s pretty clear they are crazy about each other.
Pieces of my Heart by @lazydaizies- starts with a broken up Bughead. That’s always a painful way to start.
Older than you’ve ever been by @zombiekittez- still one of my favourites that starts in a bad place for our Bughead… not really a FIGHT - but the aftermath of their break-up after his birthday. PAINFUL but beautiful.
Breathe Again by @itstenafterfour - Following a big fight. Much drama
Fights Like These by @jugandbettsdetectiveagency - literally ripped my heart out - but then was awesomely hot. I know… it’s a weird mix but I loved it.
And lastly -  tell them we sold out by @thedeadsea33 - which is literally about fighting so it’s mostly tongue in cheek for this list… I just love this story and would really really love to see it updated. Fight!Club Bughead. It’s amazing. If you haven’t read it - do it.
As Long As You’re Happy
Title: As Long As You’re Happy
Character: Crowley x Reader
Genre: Fluff
Word Count: ~900
Summary: The reader is frustrated by a complex hunt. Crowley decided to join her in the library.
A/n: For @secretlyshycomputer. Again thank you so much for the one shot the other day. And sorry it took me so long to write you something in return. But here it is. Hope you like it, tea buddy <3
You had a long and hard weekend and all you really wanted was cuddle up in a nice blanket. Some music, a good book and maybe a nice cup of tea sounded like actual heaven right now. Unfortunately a hunter didn’t have time for just hanging back, not while lives were at stake.
“Some days I hate my job” you sighed as you rubbed your tired eyes. The local library was clearing out but you still weren’t sure what you’re dealing with. There had already been three dead bodies before you even made it to town and another one was found yesterday. But all signs you found were mixed and unclear. Nothing made any sense.
“Maybe you should just quit then” a voice from behind you suggested playfully. Without turning to see who it was you groaned and dropped your head into your hands. Screw books and music all you really wanted a good night sleep and no British sass.
Would you?
I really was suppose to be doing the requests but I was at a cafe when I decided to write this. I go to the starbucks near my place so much the barista / cashier knows my order so well. Anyways, hope you enjoy!
A small smile appears on Clark’s face when he walks in to the quaint café and is greeted by your cheery greeting. “Morning, Y/N.” The smile on his face grows bigger when he stands in front of the register.
You smile seeing your favourite customer. “Rough night, Clark?” You ask him, looking over. To be quite honest, that was just a ruse to give him the once over. Clark, by far, has been one of the most gorgeous customer you have ever had the chance of getting to know – even if it was just small conversations over the counter. “Our drink of the day is Vanilla Bean Iced Coffee. Would you like to try that instead or should I ring up your normal order?” You ask him, wiping your hand on your apron.
This is Clark’s favourite time of the morning. Those few minutes he manages to spend with you is enough to make him feel good about his busy day. He had been a little bit glad a burglary attempt gone bad had happened a few months ago nearby because it gave him the chance to see you. You had been closing up the store that night and happened to see what had happened, called the police and waited in the store to watch him deal blows. He is normally so busy throughout the day running after stories and tips that he hardly ever has time to catch you other than in the morning. It also seems like you mostly have morning shifts too, except for that one night he encountered you. It is safe to say that Clark’s small crush has grown in to something big.
Clark nods his head. “I can give that a try.” He gives you a smile as he leans against the counter to watch you as you begin making the drink. He comes here so often you even know his favourite order by now but occasionally, he gets tempted by the offers of the day’s drink too.
“How did you fare yesterday?” Clark is thankful this café opens quite early in the morning which means there are less customers around and he is free to chat with up.
You shrug your shoulders. “It was alright, I suppose. Managed to go through a few short poems.” You lament on your day before you pause to look over your shoulder, grinning at him. “I dreamt about you last night.” The moment those words left your mouth, Clark’s ears begin to turn red and you triumph over the effect you have on him.
Clark clears his throat. “What about?” There is really no denying that there is some attraction between the two of you.
“You finally grew a pair and asked me out for dinner.”
Clark knows you enough by now that you are really blunt but he could not help but feel slightly surprised at what you just said. He lets out a sheepish laugh instead and he could feel the flush traveling when you finish making his drink, placing the lid on top of the cup. “Did I?”
You smile cheekily at him as you scribble your number on his cup. “I have kept my evenings empty just for you, Clark.” You place the cup on the counter and Clark smiles as he reaches for it. “Dinner at 7 tonight?”
“Of course.” He nods his head, handing the money over to you. “I’ll see you tonight then, Y/N?”
You grin at him. “Of course, I’ll be waiting here.”
Clark nods his head once more. “Have a nice day.” He stops himself from turning around and leans over the counter to press a kiss on your cheek, causing you to blush furiously from the sudden contact. “See you later, Y/N.”
Camp Nano survival guide
CAMP NANOWRIMO STARTS TOMORROW!!!!!!!! Here are some really quick last minute tips:
CALM DOWN
The quickest and easiest way to fail NaNoWriMo is to get behind on day one and IMMEDIATELY PANIC. Take your time, take some breaths and remember that word count isn’t really the most important thing anyway
LOOK AFTER YOURSELF
Eat food. Take naps. Stay hydrated. Winning Nano is pretty cool but being a healthy, functioning human being is cooler. Your word count is never more important than your health.
UTILISE THE FORUMS
The Nano forums are my favourite place for inspiration and motivation and I swear they’re the only reason I get any writing done ever. They’re also really fun!
WRITE WHEN YOU CAN
Got ten minutes free before school? WRITE! Kids fall asleep for an hour? WRITE! Lunch break? WRITE!!!!!!!! Every word counts.
I highly recommend using Google drive or something similar so you can access your document on different devices wherever you go.
DON’T COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHERS
There’s always someone who writes a hundred thousand words in twenty days, and that’s amazing. The thing is that they can’t write YOUR book. Only you can do that, and it doesn’t matter how long it takes
WATCH HARRY POTTER
This isn’t a Nano specific tip but I’m watching the Philosopher’s stone right now to take my mind off of exams and it’s honestly so relaxing and magical. They’re just perfect for when you need to let yourself relax for a few hours so I thought I’d put it in here
Most importantly, REMEMBER WHY YOU’RE DOING THIS
You decided to go on this crazy adventure because, presumably, you love to write. You’ve had this story in your head and you’re desperate to get it onto paper. You love your characters so much that you really just wanted to spend a whole month with them. You want to prove that you can write a freaking novel, even though that one English teacher told you that you couldn’t. Whatever your reason is, keep it in mind and you can’t go too far wrong
With that in mind, GO FORTH AND WRITE! I BELIEVE IN YOU!!!!!!!!!
“Well, nothing brings people together like a Christmas lung fungus.”
“Dr. Brennan, it’s been a privilege.”
“But making love… making love… that’s when two people become one.”
“I believe that if I pretended you were still here I would feel better for a moment. Also speaking to you would require me to figuratively look at myself through your eyes, again temporarily. And I think that would make me live my life more successfully.”
“I am not a gambler, I’m a scientist. I can’t change. I don’t know how.”
“Three days. Three days for the world to turn right side up again.”
“Just because something’s difficult doesn’t mean that I shouldn’t do it.”
“I love you. I’m willing to do irrational things to prove it.”
“Dear Agent Booth, you are a confusing man. You are irrational and impulsive, superstitious and exasperating. You believe in ghosts and angels and maybe even Santa Claus. And because of you, I’ve started to see the universe differently. How is it possible that simply looking into your fine face gives me so much joy? Why does it make me so happy that every time I try to sneak a peek at you, you are already looking at me? Like you, it makes no sense. And like you, it feels right. If I ever get out of here, I will find a time and a place to tell you that you make my life messy and confusing, and unfocused and irrational, and wonderful.”
“We haven’t kissed yet. That doesn’t seem right to me.”
“You were right, mommy, there are no monsters.”
“I’m always right.”
“That is one of the many benefits of growing older, we grow wiser in the process.”
#thankyoubones week | day one: 12 episodes/seasons of your choosing
I picked my favourite episode per season, besides the quote from the episode I enjoy the most.
anonymous asked:
Hello, can you recommend me a very fluffy fic? Like something I can read when I'm feeling down to feel better?
Sure thing, nonnie. Have a look through our fluff tag, or I’ll list of my favourites below:
Camp Velaris ~ Chapter five
I was woken up by a knocking at my door.
Shit, I wasn’t late, was I?
As nice as Alis was, she had a strict no lateness policy. If you slept in and weren’t at your designated meeting point on time, there would be hell to pay.
So, understandably, I was feeling a little panic.
Still bleary eyed, I checked my alarm clock. 9am. Why hadn’t Mor woken me?
Someone was still knocking at the door, so, throwing on a sweater over my tank top, I went to see who it was.
Rhys.
“Good morning, Feyre darling. Get dressed. We’re going out.”
“Wait, what? Where are the kids? Why did no one wake me?”
“You do know it’s our day off right?”
Of course! Councillors got there days off once in the week and at the weekend, which was when the part time, weekend councillors stepped in to do our jobs over the weekend.
“I forgot. And we’re going where?”
“Out. Come on, Feyre. You haven’t left the camp since we arrived. So I’m taking you out. To look around. Just think of me as a tour guide.” He added with a wink that had my heart beating faster.
“Fine.” His eyes gleamed. “But this isn’t a date.”
“Never said it was. Now, come on, get dressed. I decided to let you sleep in for another hour. Do you know how boring that was?”
“I could hazard a guess. And poor little Rhys, having to wait an extra hour. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so sorry for someone before.”
“Whatever. Now come on. Hurry up. Your coffee’s getting cold.”
“You got me coffee?”
“And a breakfast burrito. Which I will be eating if you don’t hurry up.”
I raised my hands in mock surrender. “Okay, okay. I’m going.”
I shut behind me as I went back into my room. Since this was a casual thing, just two friends hanging out, definitely not a date, I put on shorts and a sweater but left my hair down, pinning some of it back. I was aware of the fact that he was just outside my door, and could probably hear me getting dressed, but decided to ignore it. Even if my slightly burning cheeks couldn’t.
After brushing my teeth and applying a bit of makeup, I stepped outside again, where Rhys was leaning against the wall casually.
“Ready?” He asked me.
“Where are we going?” I replied.
But Rhys, the insufferable prick, just winked at me and together we walked towards his car which was parked in the parking lot.
I pretended I couldn’t see him checking out my legs, which were starting to tan due to all my time spent outside.
His car was amazing, and obviously expensive, with its shiny and sleek black sides and its tires that looked so new it was like they hadn’t ever been on the road. After noticing me looking at his car with raised eyebrows, Rhys flushed a little.
“I insisted that I didn’t need a car this fancy. My father insisted. I much prefer less, uh, flashy ones.” He said, cheeks still slightly red.
The fact that he was embarrassed by something like his car made me smile at him. It made if seem more… human, if that makes sense. And, anyway, I knew he was rich. I guessed he would have a fancy car.
We had both gotten into the car when I replied.
“I like it, actually. My dad used to have a car similar to it. Me and my sisters would sit in it, pretending we were racing drivers. My father was terrified one of us would scratch it. Sometimes I thought he loved that car more than us.” I smiled to myself as I thought of the memory. A time before my father lost his job and when my sisters and I would get along.
“You never talk about your family.” Rhys said to me as he passed me my coffee and breakfast. I hadn’t realised how hungry I was until then.
“Neither do you.” I reply before taking a bite of my food.
“Touché.”
Rhys began driving.
“So where are we going?” I once again asked Rhys, attempting to fill the awkward silence that was now between us.
“It’s a surprise.”
“A good one?”
“Hopefully.”
Another silence fell between us. I sipped my coffee. I guess he’d been paying more attention to me than I’d thought. He’d gotten me my favourite; a latte with cream and no sugar.
“Thank you. For the breakfast.” I told him.
“It was no problem. I figured you could use a break from that cafeteria food anyway.
He was right. Eating the same sort of things for breakfast everyday did get monotonous.
“Well, thanks anyway.”
Another pause. Christ, this was getting awkward. Well, it was the first time we had been together, you know, alone.
“Where should I put this?” I asked, indicating my burrito wrapping.
“Just put it in the glove compartment for now. We’ll find a trashcan when we get there.”
“And where, exactly, is there?” I mused again as I opened up the compartment. “You know, in case we’re driving to the middle of nowhere for you to murder me.”
If I was planning to murder you, I wouldn’t have brought you breakfast beforehand.”
“Touché.”
I was just closing the glove compartment when I accidently knocked something on the floor. Spotting it, Rhys hurriedly tried to pick it up but I got there before him.
“You have a Spice Girls CD?” I asked, incredulous.
He flushed again, “Uh, that’s Mor’s.”
“Really? Come on Rhys, there’s nothing to be ashamed of. My sisters and I basically watched Spice World on a loop when we were younger.”
“I’m telling you it’s Mor’s.”
“What, she just happened to leave it in here. I just thought you were secure enough in your masculinity to admit to owning a Spice Girl’s CD, but I guess I was wrong…”
“Sorry to disappoint you.”
“I guess you won’t mind me putting it on then…” I put the CD in and press play.
I start singing along when ‘Wannabe’ plays.
Rhys watches me for a second before starting to sing along in an out of tune voice, which means we’ve got at least one thing in common; slightly shitty got singing voices.
“I knew you were a spice girls fan!” I said to him when I’d turned the music off.
“Please, everyone knows ‘Wannabe’. This proves nothing.” Rhys retorts, but he’s smiling as she says it.
I roll my eyes at him playfully.
A pause. Then:
“Just don’t tell Cassian.”
~
We arrived at our destination about twenty minutes later. I still didn’t know where we were going, despite me asking Rhys every minute or so. But still, he didn’t relent.
We got out of the car and walked to a plain building in the middle of a street.
“It’s very… nice?” I said to Rhys, unsure why he’s taken us here.
He only chuckled at me. “It’s what’s inside the building, Feyre darling. Now come on, close your eyes.”
“What? This is a very murdery situation.”
“Murdery?”
“It’s a word!”
“A: it’s not. And B: I promise you that I am not going to murder you. Okay? Now close your eyes.”
“Fine. But if I do get murdered, you will be seriously haunted.”
“I’ll take my chances.”
I heard him unlock the door and lead me inside. We went through a hallway and through another door, and then he led me into a room.
“Open your eyes.” I heard his whisper to me.
So I did.
And all around me was art.
We were in the middle of what looked like it could be a studio or an exhibition room. The walls were covered in paintings of flowers and scenery and blue skies. In the centre of the room were sculptures, magnificent, great things made of metal and stone. It was like I had died and gone to art heaven. I looked up at the ceiling and gasped. What must be hundreds and thousands of stars were painted against a dark blue background that covered the whole of the ceiling. It was magical.
“I take it you like it then.” It was Rhys, who was watching me with something I couldn’t place in his eyes.
“It’s beautiful. What is this place?”
“It belongs to an old friend of the family. This is her studio. She’s moving to San Francisco in a few weeks, so this will all be gone. I know you’re an artist, so I thought you might want to see it before. None of the others are interested in art, anyway.”
That was the first time anyone had called me an artist. It was always ‘Feyre is interested in art’ or ‘Feyre is more creative than academic.’ I had never even thought of myself as an artist, but I realised I was, in a way. Sure, my paintings weren’t sold for millions of dollars and my work will probably never be displayed in the Louvre, but that didn’t mean I wasn’t an artist.
“Thank you for bringing me here. I really, really love it.” I said to Rhys, who was still watching me with a strange look on his face.
“I’m glad.” Was all he replied.
We were there for at least another hour, looking at all the different paintings and the sculptures. It was the most amazing thing I had ever been in my life. It was like being in someone else’s mind, seeing what they loved and what they were passionate about. I had always dreamed of owning a studio in somewhere like New York, but never one like this. One with so much creativity and light.
After we left, we explored other parts of this city. Rhys showed me his favourite spots and Rita’s, the karaoke bar our friends frequented often. He showed me the pizza place they would most often go to, and the places Cassian had gotten kicked out of.
I noticed that when Rhys talked about his friends, he was more animated then I ever saw him. He truly loved them, that much was obvious. I was jealous of a friendship like that. A friendship that was more like family.
Though maybe I was joining that family. It was a nice thought to have.
We were back in the car when I said to Rhys, “Thank you for bringing me here today.”
“It was no problem. You should see where you’re living for the next three months.”
“Thank you anyway.” A pause. “No one’s ever done something like that for me before. Like, ever.”
He only smiled before starting to drive away.
I looked back at Rhys only to find him glancing at me from the corner of his eye. We both looked away from each other again, my heart fluttering.
We spent the rest of the drive in silence.
But it wasn’t an unpleasant one.
anonymous asked:
If I may; I would like to ask the mun where she has traveled to before. Have you ever been out of North America, and what was your favorite place you visited?
Yes, I’ve been to a few places. I’ve been to Canada, England, Wales, France, and Germany. My favourite place was probably France. While there, I had one of the most surreal experiences I’ve ever had on public transport.
About a year ago, I was with a group from school and we were all on the Métro…
This is what I’ll always remember Paris for.
Jackson Imagine - Art School
A/N - A lovely anon requested this Jackson imagine so I hope you all enjoy! It was an interesting one to write but it’s also very speech heavy in parts so sorry about that~ Don’t forget to keep sending in your requests!
“(Y/N)? What’s this?” Jackson asked, holding an opened envelope that you had hoped he wouldn’t find.
“It’s an acceptance letter to an art school I applied to months ago.”
“Yes, I know. But why have you written ‘throw away’ on the top of it?”
“Because I applied before I met you and now we’re dating and I don’t want to have to move halfway across the country for something like that. I want to be with you.”
“Okay, no. I’m having none of that. Love, this is something you clearly wanted to do since you applied. Don’t let me be the reason that you don’t flourish and showcase just how amazing and talented you are.”
“But what about us?”
“We can work it out. Sure being long distance won’t be as fun but I know we can do it. Please, don’t fight me on this. We’re strong and we can make it past a couple hundred miles between us.”
“Jackson, I don’t know if I can. I want to wake up knowing I can see you in person rather than on a laptop screen.”
“(Y/N), don’t let this opportunity go away all because of some distance.”
“Fine, I’ll go to the art school.”
“Good-”
“But I can’t be in a relationship with you if I do.”
“What? Why not?”
“Because, Jackson. You’re an idol and I’m already scared that you’ll leave me for someone else. Someone prettier and smarter and better than me. What keeps me sane is the fact that I can see you nearly every day to prove those worries wrong. If I go to that school and we stay together then I’ll just spend the whole time worrying and feeling paranoid that you no longer love me. I’m sorry, Jackson. I love you but if you really want me to go then we have to end this.”
Tears were now falling down both yours and Jackson’s faces as the mood shifted to awkward tension. Jackson hadn’t at all expected that you’d want to break up with him. He had planned for you to go to the art school and do amazingly, all while staying in your relationship and working past the distance between you. The thought hadn’t even occurred to him that you would feel so worried that you’d want to end the relationship.
“(Y/N), please. Can’t we get through the long distance?”
“No, we can’t. I’m sorry,” you said as your voice cracked and you broke down into tears. Jackson wrapped his arms around you comfortingly and soothingly stroked your back.
five months later…
You were back in Seoul since you had a week off from school and decided to spend it visiting the city you had missed so much. You had plans to meet up with one of your best friends who you hadn’t seen in so long but had still managed to keep in touch with.
“Gosh, I can’t believe you’re finally back! It seems like it was years ago you went away to that school rather than four months ago.”
“I know, these past four months have gone by so quick. I remember getting the letter and opening it and feeling so much dread. I’m so glad I went for it though.”
“Yes, and it’s all thanks to Jackson. Have you spoken to him recently?”
“Not in five months when he found the letter.”
“Are you planning on meeting up with him or telling him you’re in the city?”
“I don’t know. Maybe. I don’t want to see him only to have him tell me how much he misses me and how much he wants to get back together.”
“Do you really not want to be in a long distance relationship that much, (Y/N)?”
“Well, yeah but that’s not the only reason.”
“What’s the other reason?”
“I’ve moved on. It took me a few months but I’ve moved on and I’ve actually started seeing someone who’s in a few of my classes. I really like him and I don’t want to end that just to get back together with someone that I broke up with. Does that make sense?”
“Yeah. I’m glad you’ve moved on though. I know Jackson meant a lot to you back when you were together.”
“Yes he did. He was my first love and I won’t ever forget that. But I think it’s better this way.”
A few hours later, you and your friend said your goodbyes and you left to have a bit of alone time in your favourite parts of the city. One place was an old little cafe that sold the best hot chocolate you had ever tasted. It was one of the things you had missed most about Seoul that you couldn’t quite replace in your new home. As you sat there sipping at the hot drink, you heard the sounds of some rather loud boys entering the cafe. There weren’t too many people in there so it had been quite quiet but the room felt more alive now. There was one voice among that group that was stuck in your mind. Curious, you turned to see who had walked in and realised that the voice you heard had belonged to Jackson. You hadn’t seen or spoken to him for five months and you couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt for how you had ended things.
Not wanting him to see you there, you turned away, hoping he wouldn’t recognise you. Luckily, in the months you had been away you had dyed your hair a much different shade, making it less likely for Jackson to notice it was you. The boys all sat in a booth behind you, almost taunting you even though they had no clue who you were. You stayed there, silently sipping your hot chocolate while listening in to their conversation. You knew you shouldn’t but a part of you wanted to be back in the group, making jokes and having fun.
“We really need to call up some older friends we haven’t seen in a while and hang out. I swear we never see anyone besides ourselves anymore,” Mark joked with the boys.
“Yeah, you should text (Y/N) too, Jackson. See if she’s down to come see us,” a voice that sounded like Yugyeom’s added on.
“I don’t know about that,” Jackson’s voice replied, quiet and much sadder than it had been five minutes ago.
“Come on, Jackson you need to either get over her or call her!” Bambam said loudly, clear enough for everyone in the whole cafe to hear.
“Should I call her? She hasn’t tried to contact me since I last saw her so why would she want me to now?”
“Because for all you know, she’s just as sad and depressed as you are.”
“But what if she’s not?”
“Jackson, we all saw you two together. She loved you just as much as you loved her. There’s no doubt that she misses you like crazy too.” Another wave of guilt washed over you. How could you talk to him now knowing that you had moved on and he hadn’t?
You quickly stood up from the table and grabbed your coat and bag, making sure not to face the boys. You hurriedly walked out of the cafe, cringing slightly as your phone rang just as you reached the door to the cafe. The boys all turned their heads to you, unsure if it was a mere coincidence or if it actually was you. You just carried on walking, hoping none of them would follow. It wasn’t until you got outside, you realised that you would have to walk right past where they were sat by the window. You took a deep breath and started to walk, going at a slightly faster pace than usual. As you walked past them, you accidentally caught eyes with Jackson, who was now wide-eyed. In the split second your eyes made contact, you watched as he jumped up from the seat and ran out of the cafe. Alarm bells ran in your head as you realised you would have to confront him and talk to him.
“(Y/N)! Oh my god, it’s really you,” Jackson said, a surprised look on his face.
“Uh, yeah. It’s me.”
“Why are you here? I thought the art school was ages away.”
“It is. I have a week off so I decided to come back and spend some time here.”
“Well, maybe you should spend some of that time with me? I’ve missed you. A lot.”
“I’d love to spend some time with you and the boys, Jackson but-”
“Not the boys. Just us.”
“I can’t. Jackson, I don’t want to get back together.”
“(Y/N), please. I miss you so much and I know you miss me too.”
“No, I don’t, Jackson. I don’t want to be your girlfriend. I’ve moved on.”
“What do you mean you’ve moved on?”
“I mean exactly that. I don’t have the same feelings for you anymore. I found someone else and you should do the same. I’m sorry, Jackson but we were over five months ago when you convinced me to go to art school.”
“(Y/N)-”
“No, stop it, Jackson. Stop trying to make me feel bad about all this. Please stop making it harder than it needs to be.”
“But I still love you, (Y/N). Don’t you still love me?”
“No, I don’t. I told you I don’t feel the same way anymore. Look, I didn’t say anything in that cafe because it was clear you still had feelings for me and I didn’t want to have this conversation. Look where it’s gotten us. I’m sorry but I have to go. Please just promise me you’ll move on. It’s what’s best for you.”
“No it’s not. I need you, (Y/N). My life isn’t the same without you in it.”
“And I’m sorry about that, Jackson but I can’t force myself to love someone just because they can’t move on. Goodbye, Jackson.”
AMBER.
Long + Short
211 Parnell Rd, Auckland, NZ
What made you fall in love with coffee?
A whole list of things. The flavour, the nostalgia associated with my childhood and my dad’s love for coffee, the vibe of being in a cafe, and the process of grabbing a coffee on the way to an 8am lecture. Ultimately it’s the excitement of making coffee that has really drawn me in. I still find it so fun.
What’s your go-to coffee preparation method?
At home it’s a V60 because it’s easy and tastes delicious (also I’m the biggest fan of soft brews). At work it’s my Moccamaster - it makes a large batch of filter coffee and you can’t argue with refills of a damn good batch brew.
Who’s the most fascinating person coffee has connected you with?
I once met an Australian theatre star - he was on tour with his show in Auckland and was wearing a giant fur hat. I can’t remember his name but he was the most flamboyant, interesting and theatrical man I’ve ever met.
Outside of making coffee, what are you passionate about?
Music, the ocean, art, adventure, film - pretty much anything and everything, I am endlessly fascinated by the world.
Where do you get your caffeine fix on your days off?
It depends on who I’m with and where I am. One of my flatmates works at Ceremony in Grafton so my friends and I often head there on a Saturday. My favourite place of all time was Good One but it’s closed now, so I can’t wait for Coffee Supreme to do something new in Auckland. I’m a big fan of Camper too.
How has being a barista impacted your work as an artist/musician?
My cafe is pretty chill so it has definitely created a place for my mind to wander and be inspired, particularly by the music we play. I’ve gotten to meet so many cool musicians and on a practical level, being a barista is my source of income to fund my own music-making.
What’s next for you?
I have no idea. Hopefully travel, more coffee and a lot more music-making - something that I can share with the rest of the world.
If you could have coffee with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Damn, this is hard. Probably Wes Anderson. Or Prince. Or both at the same time. And maybe Audrey Hepburn as well. Oh, and John Hughes who directed Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, which is my favourite film.
