one of my favourite scenes of anything i think

anonymous asked:

Favorite SE scene :)

I love so many of their scenes (obv) but when it comes to choosing one favourite, I’m kind of boring and like Paul, I always say the same one because it’s always my fave.

And it’s 3x01.

KW actually wrote it and he said: “No, she should get home. It’s the end of the night. We think all hope is lost. And then the phone should ring. And she should almost miss the call. And then when she picks up, he’s there, but he doesn’t say anything, he just needs to hear her voice, because it’s the only thing keeping him from completely falling apart.”

Because they had 2 seasons of a beautiful, strong relationship with ups and downs and so once Stefan gave himself over to Klaus to save Damon, that relationship, what they had was what gave her the strength to keep looking for him all summer and never give up even tho everyone thought she was being crazy. And it gave him the strength to keep fighting deep inside. And this is why I’ll always be a Stelena shipper, because their love was their strength, not a weakness.

Plus the beautiful music playing in the background: “A drop in the ocean, a change in the weather, I was praying that you and me might end up together.
It’s like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert, but I’m holding you closer than most ‘cause you are my heaven.”
The lyrics just always made sense for them, it was very well written.

Day 2 of the 10 day Robron Challenge (Saturday 11th Feb): Favourite Aaron quote to Robert

Super Soap Week was incredible, and it was so different to anything I’d seen before.  I was blown away with every episode and who would’ve thought that we’d get a whole episode dedicated to Robron?

In one year, we went from thinking that there was no turning back for their relationship to Aaron declaring that he’d never stopped loving Robert.  I feel so emotional watching this because Aaron didn’t just say it to make Robert feel better (Robert had just told Aaron something that he couldn’t say to anyone else, might I add), he did it because he loves Robert with every bone in his body and there’s no one else he could ever love more.

wow okay i just read your fic all that you've conquered and it has to be one of my favourite check please fics ive read so far!! the characterisations! the poindexters! it was amazing i loved it! if you have time, you mentioned in the notes that we could ask about what was going on in nursey's head, and i was wondering if you'd write anything about what he was thinking when he was dancing with dex, both practice and irl, specifically maybe when he dipped dex that first time?? i loved it so much!

thank you so much for the wonderful message anon!! i ended up with a partial rewrite of those two scenes (from this fic) and then a third additional scene because i’m a gooey marshmallow who needs my kids to be happy. pls enjoy!! (poems referenced are Terrance Hayes’ Beckoned, Tracy K. Smith’s Credulity, Jack Gilbert’s The Friendship Inside Us, and Carol Ann Duffy’s Ship; the song they’re dancing to at the end is 100% this one)

April 2016

Dex finally seems to get the hang of it on the fourth week, as Ben Gibbard is singing Someday You Will Be Loved from the tinny speakers of Nursey’s phone.

They’ve gone silent, and Dex’s brow is furrowed in concentration – he has yet to break the habit of glancing down at his feet, but Nursey might actually expire if they’re trapped in this room for more time than is critical. Dex learns fast, and his hand is calloused and warm where it holds Nursey’s.

The song is almost over, and Nursey’s going to call it quits after it’s done – he thinks about it, then shifts his hand and steps forward, pressing Dex downwards into a dip as the alarm registers on Dex’s face.

Nursey holds him up with some effort, hiding his selfish grin in Dex’s shirt before looking up and laughing a bit at the way Dex is turning scarlet in patches.

Pevensie Affection
The Chronicles of Narnia Cast
Pevensie Affection

↳ prince caspian cast commentary ⇾ pevensie affection.
Georgie: Will and Anna, I think that’s the first time in both of the films when the Pevensie children have actually shown some kind of affection towards each other.
(sound of grumbling and disagreement from the others.)
Anna: We all hug Skandar in the first one.
Georgie: Apart from the hugging of Skandar… it’s just Skandar who gets all of the hugs.
Anna: I hug you at the Stone Table.
Skandar: Yeah, there are lots of hugs.
Georgie: Okay, actually, I’m going to take back what I said. In this film, that’s the only sign of affection that the Pevensie children show to each other.
Anna: You hug Will in the bear scene.
Georgie: Good point.
Will: Yeah, and in the Aslan scene.
Georgie: I’m just gonna shut up.
Skandar: It’s the only time in this five minutes where they show any affection!

#yeah the pevensies never show any affection #who would think that?

• you always thought he was intimidating bc of that little glare he does every so often so you never talked to him and he thought you hated him which was why he never talked to you

• but it was really just lack of communication and the both of you had this mutual attraction towards each other but couldn’t bring yourselves to say it

• but you’re good friends with jongin and chanyeol and the both of them are just stuck in the middle and have to listen to both you and kyungsoo babble on and on about how cute the other person is and how they wished they could talk to you

• it just reached a point where they got v fed up and was like ‘yo we gotta make them hookup i can’t take this anymore’

• so jongin convinced you and chanyeol convinced kyungsoo to go on a blind date w each other // which was a v V close call btw bc chanyeol doesn’t know how to be lowkey

• jongin wanted to go for something big like that expensive french restaurant downtown that serves fucking escargot and champagne or whatever but chanyeol was like ‘nAAAhhh fham, it’s too much effort, just make em go to the moo milk bar or smth’

• jongin actually wanted to protest against this ‘moo milk bar’ idea but the blind date was so last minute that it ended up getting planned so poorly and later when you both start dating, kyungsoo blames chanyeol for taking his first ever date w the girl he likes so lightly

• the both of you were fuming when you found out that a suggestion that sehun made, just to be a brat, was to make your first date at fucking Subway and chANYEOL ACTUALLY TOOK HIM SERIOUSLY

• but then mama suho came along and saved the day all like ‘nono u idiots, u gotta take her to AT LEAST a sushi buffet cmon’ so everyone settled on that but made suho pay the bill bc he always has the money $$$$

• so you show up and kyungsoo showed up but the second you saw him you were fuckfuCK GOTTA BLAST-

• kyungsoo was v mad at himself for not knowing it would be you bc cmon, who ELSE would they put him on a blind date with

• but more than being angry at himself, he was v angry w chanyeol :)))) and he was just messaging him all like

• everything was just a huge fucking mess, both of you barely spoke a word during dinner, the people behind you had an obnoxious seven year old that just would :)) stop :)))) rocking back and forth in his chair :))) and kyungsoo tripped on his own feet while pulling out your chair to sit just to be a gentlemen

• but you told your friend abt this blind date and you asked her to call you and pick you up in case it was going to shit but the second she calls you, the fucking darth vader theme just resonates throughout the whole restaurant and you’re fumbling your phone bc it was so loud like ‘fuck shit wa itoka y i swear i wasn’t trying to bail out on you i jsut-’

• but kyungsoo is like ‘hold up ,,,, you like Star Wars?“

• so ya you both ditched your meal imMEDIATELY after you both finished it and paid and just went to your unit in your condo to watch Star Wars movies

• everybody was getting so worried but when kyungsoo busted in the dorms looking tired as shit with prominent eyebags, everyone was like ‘kyunGSOO FUCKING SHIT, YOU GOT ACTION RIGHT ON THE FIRST NIGHT !!!!!!’

• but that was most probably the best shitty date he has ever been on

• you constantly argue over anakin skywalker

• ‘no, christ, kyungsoo, you don’t understand okay anakin jUST MADE A MISTAKE HE JUST NEEDED A LIL LOVE-’

• tbh kyungsoo couldn’t care less abt anakin, he’s more of an obi wan kenobi person but he only snaps back at you bc 1) you only like anakin bc he’s hot and 2) he doesn’t want to know which celebrities you find attractive other than him

• but really, he tries to avoid ACTUAL arguments as much as possible bc when he gets way too into it, he literally will not stfu and sometimes he talks so much that it results into you crying bc you got so frustrated with him and kyungsoo is just like 'agh fuck :)))’

• v afraid of your parents, esP your father

• when he came over to your house to have dinner for the first time, your dad was generally nice and was like aye whattup and put his hand on kyungsoo’s shoulder as a casual man-to-man welcome and he literally tensed as harD AS a fucking rock

• he was sweating profusely during dinner and your mom was just like ??? u good fham ????

• 'wh- whAT ??? ohOHOH O me ??? im pERFEC T :)) fAntAS TIC ACTUALLY !!! hOoO boy, it suRE IS A LIL HUMID IN HERE OR IS IT JUST ME !! :))))’

• kyungsoo is usually v composed and calm and chill and hella rad but all it took was one dinner to send his walls crashing down

• overall, dinner was a success bc aside from, you know, your boyfriend being a nervous wRECK- he was v v polite and respectful and made his intentions w you clear + your parents liked him bc he was talented

• your parents invite him over for karaoke night a lot and always make him sing open arms by journey // and if they’re feeling pushy, maybe sabor ami

• you call him 'mom’ as a nickname bc cMOn okay, he can cook, sing you to sleep, clean up after your mess, look out after your needs and once you proposed to him w a ring pop

• probably the furthest you ever took this joke was when it was 2 in the morning and you wanted to text your mom who was on a night shift at her work to get you some on sale cereal on her way back home in a couple hours but you accidentally called kyungsoo

• he still brings it up to this day w a scowl on his face and uses that as his excuse every time he does something wrong

• 'okay yeah, i might’ve eaten that last slice of cake in the fridge that was primarily for you but remember that one time you called me at 2am :)))) a night before a concert, mind you :)))) thinking i was ur mom and asking me to get you some fucking honey nut cheerios :))))’

• 'ok listen that was oNCE’

• you guys sing in the shower a lot

• w8 don’t misunderstand, not tOGETHER IN THE SHOWER but when yall have your separate turns both of you sing a lot which causes the other person who’s in the kitchen or smth to hum along :)))

• he always cleans up after your messes

• when you have some friends over and have a makeup night or smth and they leave, your whole room is just a mess with bread crumbs everywhere, maybe some spilt water, and kyungsoo will literally stop whatever he’s doing to help you clean up bc 1) he hates mess and 2) he feels uncomfortable with the sight of you cleaning alone

• isn’t a fan of couple items so when you asked if you could at least have like, something v discreet like couple rings, he was like ,,,,,, yo idk ,,,, if the media and the company finds out about us i ,,,

• this slightly upset you but you gotta understand his point of view bc idol life is hard so you just smile all like lmao right i got you its all good, i didn’t really want em anyway but the idea just sounded cool hahahHA

• but lay awake at night just thinking about it and is all like yo jongin, u up

• so he just kinda chats w him for the next hour or so just contemplating bc he’s just like 'ik she wants these rings man gdi she told me she doesn’t want them bUT I KNOW SHE DOES so like ??? what should i do ???? i kinda want them too they’re cute af but the manager might bust my ass joNGIN DID YOU FALL ASLEEP’

• but one day when you’re both watching those star wars cartoons on teletoon or smth, he’s like hey gimme ur hand and you’re like k and she just kinda slips that ring into your finger

• you’re just kinda staring at it wide eyed and before you can say anything, he’s just like 'w8 ok this is not a proposal, i would’ve given it much more thought than this if it was’

• so he has this habit now that he takes your hand and kisses your finger that the ring is on

• gives you tremendous support in your studies

• when you’re confused w something, he’ll either come over or FaceTime you to help you study or when you’re distracted, he’ll get your focus back on track like what would u do w/o do kyungsoo honestly

• whenever you both watch a romantic drama movie that he’s starring in that has many cute and romantic scenes w his costars, he points at a close-to-kissing scene all like 'i was thinking of you when i had to shoot this okay’ or 'don’t pay attention to this, let’s skip it forward’ or 'im just going to remind you right now that you’re my number 1 and i love you so much’

• and you’re like chill soo, i know

• probably willing to buy you pads or tampons

• literally willing to do anything or try anything for you

• one time he asked you what your favourite dish was and you said smth like idk, beef stroganoff ????

• he was like hm i dont know how to make that and you were like lmao it’s chill, only my mom knows how to make it and if you thought he would let go of the topic so easily, guess what’s coming

• you come back home from school or work, tired as shit and ready to take a nap but the second you enter your house, a smELL SO GOOD AND SO FAMILIAR WAFTS TOWARDS YOUR NOSE AND YOURE LIKE WAIT IS THAT-

• yes fam, it’s kyungsoo in the kitchen cooking your favourite beef stroganoff

• you’re like holy shit and he’s like try it !!! and it tastes exactly !!! like !!! your mom’s !!!!!! and you’re like hey how did you get this recipe, its my moms secret and soo was like lmao i asked for it :))

• he rarely ever cries but the only time you remember him crying was on his birthday and he was in another country on tour so he couldn’t spend it w you but the boys planned smth and next thing he knows, your face is on the big screen on stage and the fans have their flashlights out and waving it all around and everyone including yourself is singing him a happy birthday and he just :’)))))))

• so when the concert is over, the whole fandom knows about your relationship but let’s not talk about that bc its kyungsoo’s birthday and he spent the whole night facetiming you and just expressing his gratitude

• 'i love you so much for this, you know that?’

• 'yes soo, ive only known in the past five times you’ve told me in the last ten minutes’

• he also gives the best hugs

• usually, he’d just lazily snake an arm around your shoulder to pull you close and give you a forehead kiss or smth; kinda like a half hug

• but in times when you haven’t seen each other in long whiles, like when he’s back from tour and you come to the airport to meet him, he will put both hands around your waist and clasp them at your back so you can’t get out and lean back a lil so you gotta go on your tippy toes

• he’s also gonna put a hand at the back of your head and kiss either your temple or your hair

Agent Galahad and Mr. Hart

So back in September it was the amazing @johanirae‘s birthday. Some of you might know it, others might not, but she’s been one of my all-time favourite artist since I’ve started stalking fandoms back in the livejournal days. So because I want to thank her for all the gorgeous art she shares with us and because it’s always nice to receive gift, I offered to write a little something for her birthday.

This was the prompt “Woo woo, maybe an AU where Eggsy and Harry’s role is reversed in the bar scene and Eggsy is the spy who saves innocent teacher!Harry from being harassed from local thugs?” and I think it’s self-explanatory enough that I don’t need to add anything.

Agent Galahad and Mr. Hart

Agent Galahad has just come back from his latest mission, but instead of going right to the shop or HQ so he can be debriefed, he makes sure he’s still signed out and gets inside the Black Prince.

The pub might seem like a peculiar choice for a gentleman like himself, but even if he was lucky to have had the chance to make something of himself, he vowed never to forget where he came from. Thus had begun his post-mission tradition of coming to the Black Prince for a well-deserved pint.

It’s still early enough in the afternoon that besides himself and Tom, the owner, there is only another gentleman sitting alone in one of the booth. Galahad elects to sit at the bar, carefully choosing his spot so that he can see all the room with a glance.

While he’s waiting for his drink, he takes a moment to look more closely at the only other customer. He can’t see his face clearly, his body slumped over his nearly empty glass, but if his posture is anything to go by, the man is having a rough day. Maybe even week. His suit is not as recent as his own, but from what he can see of the fit, it’s clearly bespoke and not one of those off the rack aberrations. Usually Galahad would let the stranger have his peace, but something makes him gesture at Tom to get the man another pint of whatever he was having.

He knows all about shitty days and his kindness might not mean a lot in the long run, but maybe it will make all the difference for a brief moment.

He finally gets a good look at the man when he turns his head towards the bar in surprise and only his training stops him from gasping openly when he meets what had once been familiar brown eyes. However, since there is only politeness and gratefulness in the smile and no recollection, he merely raises his own glasses in a silent cheer.

Galahad might still remember Harry Hart because he had been the only teacher giving a damn back when he was in school, but it was only predictable that he would not have made a like-wise impression on the man. If the man is still a teacher, which probably is the case because you’re not that lively in a classroom if you don’t like what you do, he must have seen thousand of brat like him, smarter than what is good for them, yet made stupid by hormones and peer pressure. It doesn’t change the fondness he feels for his former teacher though. He’s a huge part of why he’s now Galahad, what he bases his ideal of a gentleman on.

He’s turned back to his own beer, but he still can feel Mr. Hart’s eyes on him and can see the tiny frown in the reflection of the mirror hung behind the bar. It’s not a bad frown, just a “where did I see him before” frown, so he stays relaxed.

He’s still contemplating going to sit down with him, see if the man would be amenable to some company, when the door opens on a group of men Galahad knows right away are bad news. They spare him only a quick glance, Galahad a master of projecting an aura that clearly spells ‘nothing to see here, except if you want to get fucked up’ around himself.

Instead they make a bee-line for where his former teacher is sitting, crowding the lone man menacingly.

Harry Hart is usually not one known to drink alone in the middle of the afternoon, but sometimes a pint is the only thing that can keep him going.

His friends would probably tell him he should either quit or change school, because God knows he’s had many offers through the years. But even though the neighborhood where he teaches at only seems to get rougher through the years, he doesn’t want to leave the kids. Not all of them appreciate what he does for them, but the couple of them that never fail to come thank him in person when they graduate make all his efforts seem worth it.

He barely notices another customer sat down at the bar, so he’s surprised when Tom brings him another pint, since the man is not known for his generosity. Tom motion to a finely dressed gentleman that seems out of place in this setting, a silent indication as to whom he should direct his gratitude.

He smiles politely in gratitude and raises his glass in answer to the silent cheer from the stranger. The young man turns back to his drink and Harry would do the same, except something tells him he should know the gorgeous stranger.

He’s about to get up and join him, maybe offer to repay the kindness with dinner later on, when the door opens on Dean and his usual group of thugs. His blood runs cold in his veins, but it’s already too late for a quick escape. Even if he was to reach the door, he could never outrun them and even in the street, there won’t be anyone to help him. He just hopes they will leave the kind gentleman alone.

“Hart! Exactly the man I was looking for.” Dean is smiling cruelly at him while his men snigger around him. “You’ve cost us a lot of money with your latest stunt.”

By which he means he’s tipped off the police about some of Dean’s men dealing on school ground. He knew that the man has too many connection that he would only be shortly inconvenienced, but he wasn’t about to turn a blind eye to the corruption of minors. If it lands him in a hospital so be it. At least he will still be able to look at his reflection in the mirror.

“Come on Hart, get up, we wouldn’t want to break Tom’s chair.”

Tom who conveniently went in the backroom as soon as he caught sight of Dean. Before Harry can answer, the young gentleman they had all forgotten about gets up and approaches the table.

“What’s the problem here? Can’t you let a man enjoy his drink in peace?”

As one, Dean and his thugs turn to the stranger, eyes narrowed suspiciously, two of them cracking their knuckles in an obvious threat.

“It would be best for your health if you didn’t put your nose in business that don’t concerns you.” It’s a warning, but Harry knows that if push comes to shove, Dean will probably only rough the stranger just enough to scare him. Dean might have connections, but the gentleman’s attitude screams money and probably enough influence to make his life hell.

Still, Harry really doesn’t want any harm to come to the young man because of him, so he tries smiling reassuringly. “You really should go. We only need to have a small conversation about our differences in life philosophy.”

He can see the young man isn’t buying it, which isn’t really surprising, but a pointed look makes him clench his jaw and nod reluctantly.

He turns his back on them and starts walking towards the door.

“That’s right, go hide behind your father’s money, wanker.” One of the thugs Harry thinks goes by the name Rotty or something similar spits out and the young man stops at the door, fists clenched.

Harry can see him take a deep breath and his tensed posture relax, one hand rising to the lock at the top of the door. “Manners. Maketh. Man.” Each words are punctuated by the sound of a lock sliding closed. “Do you know what it means?” Harry does, but he thinks it’s a safe bet to assume he’s the only one in the room, except the stranger. “No? Then let me teach you a lesson.”

Usually, Harry would never condone violence of any kind. But he can’t deny that looking at the gorgeous gentleman effortlessly wiping the floor with the very same men who would have beaten him to a bloody pulp isn’t satisfying. That and the young man does it with such elegance, that it gets Harry blood pumping.

Once all his opponent, plus Tom who got out of his backroom at the commotion, have hit the floor, the young man surveys the room before breaking out in a cheeky smile.

It’s only then that he realises that he does indeed know the young man in front of him, that a few years ago, those same blue-green eyes were looking at him in rapt attention from the back of his classroom.

His head turns around so fast he nearly gives himself whiplash when he hears the man whisper his preferred nickname.

“Didn’t think you would remember me, Mr. Hart. It’s been years.” Once again, he reflects on how lucky he is that he signed off before going into the pub. Right now he should be hitting Hart with an amnesia dart, not confirm his identity.

“You were one of my brightest student, of course I remember you.” They stay frozen for a while until a pained groan reminds them of their current situation. “Should we perhaps leave?”

“Wha- Yes, right, good idea.” What he really should be doing is dart his former teacher and drop some kind of anonymous tip to the police, but he cannot bring himself to it, not when Harry is not even freaking out about the display of violence. In fact, after inclining his head in gratitude when Eggsy holds the door open for him on their way out, the first thing he does is thank him.

“Thank you for stepping in. I fear I would not have fared as good as you did in a fight.” There’s a glint in his eyes that makes him shiver when Harry gives him a quick once-over now that they’re in the afternoon light as well as remember why Mr. Hart had featured quite prominently in his wet dreams and fantasies back when he was still a teenager.

“It was nothing really, they seemed like right dickheads.”

Harry snorts in amusement. “A correct assessment. Still, let me invite you to dinner.” His small smile turns disappointed when Eggsy starts shaking his head at his offer.

“Nah, I can’t accept, I didn’t do it to get anything in return really.” It kind of physically pains him to say no to Harry, because he does want to spend more time with the man, wants to know if the attraction he felt for him in his teenaged years is still there (it totally is), but he cannot bring himself to take advantage of the situation.

“A shame. I was rather looking forward to share dinner with the charming gentleman who paid for my second pint.”

There’s no mistaking Harry’s meaning at this, that he was interested even before being rescued and maybe it’s still not completely right, but Eggsy denies himself far too many things already, maybe it’s right to be selfish just once.

Eggsy later finds out that when it comes to Harry, his selfishness knows no boundary.

But that’s okay. Turns out, Harry Hart is a selfish bastard too.

Top 5 Lancers

Mod: Hey guys! Kingsley here, mod of Sakata Kintoki. I’m here to list my favourite Lancers from all of the Fate series with Kintoki making some comments along the way.

Kintoki: “Heya! Anyone want some GOLDEN maple leaf syrup with their pancakes?”

Mod: …. Where did you even…? You know what, nevermind let’s start this thing!

5. Cu Cullain - Fate/Prototype

Mod: Totally awesome design. And love his hunter motif compared to his Fate/Stay Night counterpart. Gay Bulge to the max.

Kintoki: “Eh, not GOLDEN enough. 0.6/10″

4. Karna - Fate/Apocrypha

Mod: His OPness is pretty cool, not gonna lie. And his design is pretty Kick-ass too!

Kintoki: “Much better! He’s much more GOLDEN! NOW LEMME TOUCH YOUR ARMOUR!”

3. Diarmuid Ua Duibhne - Fate/Zero

Mod: Stupid sexy Lancer… Love the dual spear though! Even though I can’t say your stupid name…

Kintoki: “2 Spears!? THAT’S AMAZING! He’s able to poke two things at once!”

2. Scathach - Fate/Grand Order

Mod: She isn’t even out yet in Fate/GO but I know that she will be my bae, the true and only bae.(Atleastforthelancerclass) I have no shame. What is it with Irish servants and tights body suits?

Kintoki: “I like her! Strong, independent and probably won’t cry when I play punchies with her! Do you think she’d like some GOLDEN delicious apples?”

1. Cu Cullain - Fate/Stay Night

Mod: What the…? Can we get a proper picture here?

Kintoki: “I don’t think one exists boss! His E Rank luck is preventing him from being able to have anything respectable about him!”

Mod: Okay then… Anyways, Lancer has always been my favourite servant in the 5th Fuyuki Grail War. Though he was always spooked by Kotomine one way or another, his actions scenes were always a sight to behold. GAY BULGE TO THE MAX YO!

Kintoki: “If he was a real dog, he’d be a GOLDEN retriever in my book!”

Mod: That about wraps it up. Thanks for reading. Or not reading. In which case, you’re only okay. For those of you that did read, you’re awesome.

Kintoki: “Yeah! Stay GOLDEN!”

Hamilton -- I’m at the Play!!

Look around at how lucky we are to be alive right now! Years from now when asked where I first understood the transformative power of live theatre or what most influenced me as a storyteller, I have no doubt my answer will be Hamilton. It has been two days since I saw the house lights dim at the Richard Rodgers theatre. My only regret is that I cannot remember everything!

Of all the performers, Leslie Odom Jr both knocked me off and brought me to my feet. His subdued persona in Act I is downright frustrating, as it should be. That’s how Hamilton sees Burr, so the audience shares the sentiment. He’s so subdued during all the crescendos and big moments in “Wait for It” the audience is on the edge of their seat the entire time. He edges us the whole way through with no payoff. the song ends with a decrescendo, leaving the audience wanting more, delivering the song more like a soliloquy than the big song and dance you’d expect.

Third-loudest and third-longest applause line of the night. Well-deserved. At that point, he’s still an almost-loveable anti-hero, even to those of us who know how the story plays out. However, I am biased because …

I believe in Chris Jackson. I will never forget how fully he committed to the character of Washington. Of all the characters unable to control or influence Alexander, Washington shuts him down with a simple, “No."

He is the authority, the father, the Mount Olympus! I’ve said it ten times, yet I’ll say it again: Chris Jackson is the best Washington we’ve had since the man himself. Perhaps this is the reason tears welled in my eyes as he read Jefferson’s resignation letter. I knew it was coming as Washington pushed Alexander to helm him "teach them how to say good-bye,” and gosh darn it I suppress tears just thinking about it.

Do not think it goes unnoticed the words “I am too sensible of my defects to not think I may have committed many errors” and “consigned to oblivion” are said by Alex. This ending builds up to what is my favourite crescendo in the show. The ending Washington deserves.

Chris Jackson moves centre-stage, balancing on the edge, toe of his book dangling over top the orchestra. He braces himself not unlike Bryce Harper before he knows he’ll get a pitch to handle. Chris Jackson’s face is completely coated with sweat, though he’s shed the overcoats worn for the majority of the production which only adds to the vulnerability of the moment. Even though I knew the words that were coming, that titular phrase wounded me as Chris Jackson slayed,

“One last time … Time …”

I wanted to clap, but he held that final note so long and I didn’t want to interrupt because, sweet baby Jesus, it was glorious! At some point, the floodgates broke and tears swam down my cheeks because, like Alexander, I did not want to say good-bye.

When Chris Jackson finished I was a wreck. My clapping and shouting in praise was not enough. Never have I been so irrevocably moved by a performance. Second-longest and second-loudest applause line of the night. What topped it?

The man, the myth, the silky legend, Leslie Odom Jr.

My sister had seen video of this number, “The Room Where it Happens,” and forbade me to watch it. “You have to fully experience this live,” She said. I obeyed and I paid for it.

Burr edges us again, narrating in the vein of Che before embarking on an arc halfway through which, to those in the know, signaled the beginning of the end. He realizes the only way to make a difference is to be in the room where deals are stuck and compromise is made. As the crescendo comes along there is no edging this time. Instead, Burr blows the doors off the place.

This song is all Burr as he jumps on tables and leads the ensemble in that big dance number missing earlier. He is a man possessed by demons of desire, mortality, and legacy. The song builds and builds and Leslie does not miss a beat though he does not leave a square foot of the stage untouched. Like watching a tennis match, your eyes are on something that is at once everywhere and nowhere.

Edging, edging, edging.

“Click, boom!”

The house lights dim and Leslie’s silhouette is stone still. The applause in the five-hundred person venue is deafening. I had just witnessed a star explode, eclipsing everything I thought about theatre. There was adrenaline and sweat not only from the cast, but the audience. We had been taken on a frantic ride with huge emotional payoff and it seemed like Leslie felt Burr in his soul. He had me hook line and sinker.

The cast was phenomenal top-to-bottom, but Anthony Ramos got me more than anyone. He dies twice in the play, first as John Laurens. He’s so fun-loving and outgoing and physical with Alexander. The audience falls for him immediately, and I think it’s more Anthony Ramos than Lin-Manuel’s John Laurens, which is what breaks your heart in Act I.

A letter arrives to Hamilton, read aloud by Eliza. This is the only portion of the play not included on the soundtrack, so Eliza reads the notice of Laurens’s death as Anthony Ramos is bathed in spotlight, defiant. We are all struck, including Hamilton, because this is the catalyst for “Non-Stop.” The death of his friend makes him realize how much he has left to accomplish, renewing the overdeveloped sense of mortality he had as a kid in St Croix.

Grief is apparent on Lin-Manuel’s pained face as “Non-Stop” begins, the orchestra cues up, Burr begins to narrate, Eliza leaves, and he still has a stunned look on his face. This shows how much he loved Laurens because the song is so upbeat but there’s this tragedy added to all the others on a background loop in his psyche.

In Act II, Anthony Ramos plays Hamilton’s son, Philip. This death was hard for me because I had a limited view. His deathbed ran parallel to the stage, so my view was of his feet, Eliza, and the top of Alexander’s head. As Philip apologizes to his mother for, well, making a bad decision, I saw his hand grip the back of Eliza’s head to pull her closer. He was scared. His other hand wrapped around hers. I saw no faces, only heard them singing their melody from earlier in the Act. Then it’s just Eliza.

“Cept huit, nuf. Cept huit–”

This is where I actually cried. Multiple tears, red in the face, crying like a baby at Eliza’s anguished scream at the end. (Not included on the soundtrack.) I was irrationally rooting for a miracle, then Philip’s hand fell and Eliza screamed and I just felt it in my blood. It was that good.

Those are the numbers that really affected me. I can’t express just how in awe I am of every part of this play, though. From the choreography to the costumes to staging to lighting to the composition …

“The Schuyler Sisters” is a fabulous number that showcased both the chaos of New York City and Renee Elise Goldsberry’s amazing voice. She brought the house down during “Satisfied,” which is a remarkable feat of storytelling and story re-telling in live theatre. It’s next-level meta. The “rewind” is just something you have to see to fully believe.

Johnathan Groff’s replacement as King George III is fabulous. Hilarious–he even got Leslie Odom Jr to break character at one point. I regret that the audience wasn’t having as much fun with it as I did. I sang along to every bit of those numbers, you better believe it!!

The staging for “Ten Duel Commandments” and “Meet Me Inside” is phenomenal. And the EMOTIONAL INTENSITY when Alexander shouts, “CALL ME SON ONE MORE TIME!” to George Washington is something I can’t describe. Washington looks pained; he does think of Alex as a son. So when GW orders AHam back home, that’s why. You can tell Alexander wants nothing more than to grab the words and stuff them back in his mouth, but the damage is done.

I haven’t said anything about Daveed Diggs and Oak, but their performances are amazing. I just don’t have a lot to say because I bought them all the way through the play. There was never a time I looked at them as Oak and Daveed. Yes, Lafayette owns in “Guns and Ships.” Like, bow down, because that elocution is fabulous.

“Yorktown” is my favourite number in the play. I know you’re thinking it should be one of the three I mentioned earlier. You’re wrong. “Yorktown” contains the line, “Immigrants! We get the job done.” Additionally, the intensity is at concert-level. I remember that feeling when I’m barricade for my favourite band. More adrenaline in my veins than blood, synapses firing on all cylinders so I can’t think about anything except what’s in my sightline.

Hercules Mulligan has this great little bit that I love. One of my favourites. “We in this shit now, somebody’s gotta shovel it. Hercules Mulligan, I need no introduction. When you knock me down I get the fuck back up again!” Then they have this little bluegrass section for a scene transition while the battle is taking place. It’s my jam. This song is an actual roller coaster that starts and stops and leaves you breathless at the end as “the world turned upside-down.”

Jefferson has some priceless moments like in “What’d I Miss” when he shakes Alexander’s hand then wipes it off on his (purple velvet!) overcoat. The guy’s got a pimp cane and lets his fro fly in that purple getup and I buy the swagger. I feel Jefferson in that performance. The little wing-flapping thing he does (which AHam mocks in “Cabinet Battle #1”) made me laugh.

There is a four-song tour de force in Act II: “We Know,” “Hurricane,” “The Reynolds Pamphlet,” and “Burn.” So much I wish I could tell you. Every detail is precious. Like that Maria Reynolds is the one to hand Hamilton the quill he uses to write the Reynolds Pamphlet. That Madison is disgusted by Hamilton’s actions. That Alexander’s life is literally a hurricane whirling around him as the Reynolds Pamphlet is released, taking him back to childhood. You can’t write your way out of this one, Alex.

How about Philip being forced to read the Reynolds Pamphlet? I had to cover my mouth when I saw that. Just … The pain. Oh, and “Burn.” Phillipa Soo’s performance was perf.

There’s a point where Alexander is deciding to choose whom to endorse in “The Election of 1800.” Burr and Jefferson are situated on opposite sides of the stage. Burr looks so hopeful because Alex is his friend, and it takes a minute for his smile to fade after realizing Hamilton chose Jefferson. Then the betrayal set in and I could not believe we were approaching the end of the show.

Alex grabbing Eliza’s hand before the duel, making sure she knows she’s the “best of wives and best of women” gives me life.

I lost my mind at “The World Was Wide Enough.” Hamilton’s internal debate on whether to fire. God, the way Burr’s voice cracked on “He will not make an orphan of my daughter!” At this point I forgot I was watching a play. I forgot this wasn’t real because I was so invested and I knew, I knew Burr was going to shoot Hamilton but it didn’t matter because I wanted it to be re-written. I wanted it not to happen and

Alexander doesn’t shoot. Alexander dies. The show ends on Eliza’s scream.

I will never clap that loud for anything again, I imagine. I can’t fathom doing so. I was wiping tears off my face when the cast came out for their curtain call. Just … I was so eloquent at the beginning of this post and now I’m one memory away from a blubbering mess. It’s such a great production, I encourage you to see it if you can. “The subject speaks its own importance, comprehending in its consequences nothing less than the existence of the UNION.”

Favourite Gaiden Scenes, By Chapter (Colour Versions)

Chapter 1

Honorable Mention:

This was the first instance in which we really see what kind of relationship Sarada has with Boruto, and even though she’s envious of him and the rest of her peers for being able to spend time with their fathers, she doesn’t let that influence her to make spiteful decisions, and she maintains her amicable relationship with him. That was very admirable of her.

Favourite Scene:

This scene was quite powerful. Everything from her posture, to her words, really depict how much she yearns to meet her father. This scene also has further significance because a similar scene is shown at the very end of the manga, but under very different circumstances! :D

Chapter 2

Honourable Mention:

This was the scene which basically set up most of what happens in Gaiden; meeting up with Sasuke, and getting answers which both Sarada and we as readers sorely needed. It got me excited for the events to come :D

Favourite Scene:

I’m sure this scene got everyone wondering “who the hell is this kid, and why does he have the Sharingan?”. That’s what I was certainly thinking, and my dangerously high levels of curiosity was what pushed this to be my favourite scene of the chapter. I also like the way it was revealed, it added to Mini Shin’s creepy nature!

Chapter 3

Honourable Mention:

This scene happened at the very end of the chapter, and got me really hyped for what was about to unfold. You had Naruto acting like a straight up boss here, and it would have been the first time we’d see Hokage Naruto in action, so I was really excited to see what he’d do :D

Favourite Scene:

However, this was definitely my favourite scene. This stare down between Boruto and Sarada spoke a thousand words, and no words were exchanged. We knew they were friendly with each other, we knew this because of what happened during chapter 1. But this just added a whole new dynamic to their relationship, and brought their rivalry to the forefront.

Chapter 4

Honourable Mention:

This has to be up there, for the sole reason of Sarada’s smile. Up to this point in Gaiden, sure she had cracked a smirk every now and again, but this was the first time we had really seen her smile, and it was because she was hearing good things about her parents, and how similar she was to them. It was a really heartwarming moment :)

Favourite Scene:

This scene was really, really powerful. She longed to meet her father so much that she activated her Sharingan for the first time. This was a monumental occurrence for the Uchiha, because it marked the end of them gaining power through loss, hatred and emotionally stressful situations, and hopefully Sarada set a precedent here; In which Uchiha of future generations could gain strength through love. As the clan who cherishes love more than any other, it only makes sense right? :D

Chapter 5

Honourable Mention:

This was one of the best faces I’ve ever seen Naruto make, that was reason enough to make it an honourable mention. But what makes it better was the context, and why he pulled that face. It was in response to Sarada questioning her parentage, and asking what connection she has to Karin, and in response to her enquiries, Naruto pulls this face. It’s as if he’s saying “WTF are you talking about Sarada?!”. Naruto was definitely the face of the neutrals/pros of the fandom during this scene! Lol.

Favourite Scene:

This scene was so great because it really just highlighted how far Sasuke had come since the main story. It had once been his sincerest aspiration to destroy Konoha and everything it stood for because his mind had been clouded by hatred. Yet, here he now was, sacrificing his own happiness for the sake of providing a better future for his family, friends, village, and every shonobi nation out there who would tremble and go into a state of complete and utter pandemonium at the mere mention of Kaguya’s name. Sasuke was now Konoha’s joint top protector, operating from the shadows, much like his late brother before him. And to see Naruto describe him the way he did added further emphasis to the success of Sasuke’s redemption

Chapter 6

Honourable Mention:

This is just a really cool scene. Sasuke glaring at Shin after having demonstrated only a fraction of his abilities, and he’s glaring at him with a look that could kill, for having the audacity to even think about going after his daughter! This just narrowly edged Sasuke protecting Sarada from Shin’s projectiles, because I tend to be a fanboy of really cool looks. Hence, my favourite scene from chapter 3 :D

Favourite Scene:

Could it have possibly been anything else? Sakura makes the single most epic entrance I’ve ever seen here, takes Shin out with one blow, and proceeds to give the fiercest, “Don’t FUCK with my family” look ever! (Like I said, I’m a fanboy of looks, I even made a post about some really cool looks Sakura and the rest of the Uchiha family has displayed in the manga here!) So yeah, Sakura came, she saw, she conquered. ‘Nuff said :)

Chapter 7

Honourable Mention:

This gets an honourable mention for the simple fact that it was very nice seeing Suigetsu and Juugo again; we hadn’t seen or heard from them in any kind of canon material for a while, so the near-complete Taka reunion was cool to see. Of course, Karin conveniently wasn’t there for plot purposes, but that’s besides the point. Also, the fact that Sarada recognized them from the photo made me very curious to see what she’d do with that information, and this leads on nicely to what was my favourite scene in the chapter.

Favourite Scene:

This scene was very powerful. I loved Sarada’s expression and how the shading brilliantly emphasised the mental trauma she was currently experiencing. You can really just feel her utter shock, and how her heart must have just sank after seeing those results. It’s like her worst nightmare, and everything that she had ever feared for so long had become a reality right in front of her eyes. A very memorable scene, and one that I still can’t believe had so many antis completely fooled! Lol.

Chapter 8

Honourable Mention:

We can never get too much of maternal Sakura! But this was really sweet, because it signified that Sakura was privy to how much this gesture meant to Sasuke. It therefore not only indicated that Sakura was fully aware of how much she meant to Sasuke (so she didn’t have to worry about that while he was gone), but it also showed how this forehead tap had become a sort of thing, or trademark for the Uchiha family, which I liked :)

Favourite Scene:

This scene was beautiful. It was likely a suppressed memory of something that happened very early in her life, and in that case, the implications are powerful, and are a reminder of one of her main incentives for going on this journey in the first place. She really wants to spend time with both of her parents, even if only just for a little bit; that would be all she needs. Deep stuff :)

Chapter 9

Honourable Mention:

Sarada, showing that she really is a SasuSaku child! Utilising her father’s overpowered eyes in conjunction with her mother’s monstrous strength, to unleash an attack so devastating that it leaves most of them in shock. Everyone apart from Sasuke of course, who was most likely fanboying inside at his daughter’s show of technique and power! XD

Favourite Scene:

This scene was so great because firstly, it was everything Sarada ever wanted to see; proof that her parents love each other, and that their hearts were indeed connected. The gentle smile that emerges on her face after seeing the affection between Sasuke and Sakura is very moving, because you know she had wanted to see this her whole life, and now that it was finally happening, you just felt really happy for her.

Secondly, I’m gonna quote what I wrote from a previous post of mine regarding this scene:

“When you remember all that Sasuke and Sakura have gone through with each other, and then you see a scene like this. It just evokes so much emotion, because you know they’ve come such a long way. I just think to myself “well done guys, I’m happy for you”. Even though times are difficult, you’re working through them together and are fully supportive of one another. It’s really nice to see :)”.

Chapter 10

Honourable Mention:

This was probably the best single panel in all of Gaiden in my opinion. It was the moment when Sarada finally received clear reassurance, from Sasuke’s own mouth, that her parents’ hearts are connected, and that she was the product of their deep connection. Following this, she’d no longer need to worry about who she was, who her father was, and whether her parents love each other. This very scene finally put her worries to rest, there was no more doubt; she exists because her parents love each other :)

Favourite Scene:

As I said for my favourite scene of chapter 1, this scene parallels that one, but under very different circumstances because Sarada has now come full circle; she’s attained the answers she sought for so long, and now has a genuine symbol for the unity of her family. Sarada’s smile while looking at her new family portrait was amazing. This portrait was the culmination of all of Sarada’s efforts. It was a symbol of the Uchiha family having resolved their issues, and they were now able to move forward, make up for lost time, and make new memories together. Due to the sheer significance of this portrait, it makes my favourite scene of chapter 10 ^_^

BTS MVs (Hopefully) Explained

Dear Armies,

After watching Run the Japanese version, I decide to share my thoughts to the Army about what my opinions are for their extremely deep MVs.

I have seen many, many conspiracy theories concerning the boy band that we all love. Through it all, I still refuse to think it’s about them dying or getting depressed. V did not die, Jin did not die and most certainly not any of them died. Instead from the title, ‘The most beautiful moment in life’, the central of all the stories is their youth (around the age of 16 to 24?).

Let’s remember some facts, it will make sense later on,

1.       The age of our boys (Korean ages):

Jin 25

Suga 24

Rap monster 23

J-hope 23

Jimin 22

V 22

Jungkook 20

2.      Ace of clubs – “The prime motivating force for this card is an insatiable thirst for knowledge, combined with a desire for a deep and lasting union with someone who is emotionally compatible. Hence, the Ace of Club is always looking for his or her “soul mate”, believing that true marriages are made in heaven… Once a relationship develops, they feel as though their quest for knowledge has been stymied. When they once again apply themselves to their eager quest for knowledge, they lose the love they so desired! Combining their two great loves is the key to happiness.”

3.       White lilies - While white lilies symbolize chastity and virtue… As the flowers most often associated with funerals, lilies symbolize that the soul of the departed has received restored innocence after death.

4.       House of cards - an organization or a plan that is very weak and can easily be destroyed

My theory is that the MVs relate to their age and their journey into adulthood.

We all saw that Jin was constantly alone in many videos even in the HYYH On Stage DVD VCR. At the end, he looked back at their group photo and found himself alone. In INU, at the end (again), he pulled out the polaroid that only had him in the photo. Jin is the mathyung of the group, the oldest. Basically, he stepped into adulthood first and is stranded in this sort of Limbo state, where he is alone in the adult world while all his friends in their youth, still having fun.

Then the videos go onto the younger members.

First though, let me outline the key themes I think each video is about.

I Need U – the side effects of youth. All the sins a young person does that they later regret. Suga (unprotected sex?) burns the motel down, thinking he can burn all his faults and start anew. This talks about destroying any evidence of their faults to avoid judgement or punishment.

Jhope is the depressed teenager who wants to escape the harsh reality by terminating his life. These are real life situations and I can totally relate. As I grow older, things get more complicated and we’ve all thought of a means of escape by death. My friend had a hard life as a child and to make it even worse, she self-harms thinking it’s an alternate route to suffer the mental pain.

Anyways, bit off topic. Back to the video, Jimin tries to drown himself. However by drown, I mean to silence the world. In water, sounds become murky and hard to understand. I believe that he is trying to muffle all the criticisms one gets at this age. Adults love you less and expects more from you. School, work, universities, it all suddenly becomes too loud.

V represents the children who come from difficult families. The most known cases are domestic abuse. He is a teenager living with his mom and his abusive (supposed) dad. He hates him and wants him dead as does many children with such families.

Then we have our leader, rap monster. Rap mon in INU has a role of a typical part-time-job teen. As I have learned from many Kdramas, smoking in Korea, for a teenager, means nothing to them but a way to relive stress. In Korea, the exams are (I think) extremely harsh, and many rebellious harmonious teenagers seek release through smoking. In his rap, he said “I tried everything but can’t help”, even though the song is about love, to this day, I highly doubt that the song is anywhere near the subject of love. In this case, I think he is talking about all the stress of adolescence. In the song, Baepsae, they admit that they are the cursed generation (for more information, Google 1990s and the Asian Financial Crisis, do some research). So their parents undoubtedly expect a lot from the children. Stress from parents, stress from school, yeah you get the idea hopefully.

Last but not least, our maknae Jungkook. Jungkook is a teenage boy full of hormones. He has angers at the world that are released through fighting. He deliberately picks fights with older sunbaes in order to release that anger. However, he is not yet strong enough to fight them, instead, he just gets beaten up.

HOWEVER! We also get snapshots of them spending good times together. This is talking about friends easing the pain. It’s a very lovely message, I think. Through all these bad times, it is your friends who will stay by you always. Not your girlfriends or your parents. But your true friends. This is further explored in Run.

Prologue – I don’t wish to talk a lot about the prologue mainly because I don’t really enjoy it that much. What with V jumping off the scaffold into the water and stuff. Very grim. So I’m just going to summarise some main points:

-          Jin taping everything – to keep a memory of his youth to take with him to adult land.

-          V supposedly killed his abusive father. He calls Jin, who is an adult, for help. Since murders are considered as adult offences, he has no one to turn to but his adult friend Jin. He is scared of what he had done. What he is also scared of, is the adult responsibilities he has to face for his murder i.e. the courts, jail etc. Also, since Jin has already been through the supposedly harsh era of being youthful, maybe he can help V through it all.

-          “you need to survive” by rap mon, because they all know that despite how much they are suffering now, in the end, they will come through it all

-          Friends are not solutions but a way to ease the pain.

-          In the end, friends will be there to stop you from doing things, but you do it anyways.

Run – my favourite MV. Run MV and the song talks about the positive side of youth, yes, exactly the opposite of INU. Does it really though? In this explanation I’m going to go in chronological order of when things happen in the MV. If you have a laptop nearby, play the MV and pause if you need to.

1.       Rap mon drops his lollipop into his coffee. First of all, ew. Second of all, I have no idea what it means. Because if his lollipop suggests a cigarette then he literally just threw his cigarette in his coffee and drank it. Yeah, ew.

2.       Rap monster is the third in line depending on their age into adulthood. The fact that he walks into the party rather than already being there suggests that he is already distancing from youth. Whereas Jimin, who greets Rap mon, is still in his youthful age. Then again, what is Jin doing there? I don’t know. Escaping from adulthood by hanging out with the young ones?

3.       Again Jin is filming everything. He needs a physical memorial of the youth that they share

4.       Big, red cross on Jin. This means that he is already ‘out’. Out of their groups of youthful boys.

5.       Rap mon and V being rebellious. Destruction of property by vandalising walls. Typical teenager thing to do. They are telling us that they are still young, free and not afraid of anything (even the police).

6.       Jin builds a house of cards (see meaning above). He is trying to say that friendship built during their youth can be very weak and easily be destroyed. No matter how good a time they are having now, this will become nothing in the future but memories.  He is also questioning, will their friendship last for eternity?

7.       The scene cuts back to rap mon and V running away. Rap mon looks very scared. Is he scared of the troubles that this is getting him into? V, on the other hand, looks care free, he looks back at the police and smirks (and sticks out his demonic tongue)

8.       Jin’s house of cards gets destroyed. The eventual break of their friendship? I would just like to say something here. As time passes, old friends become just acquaintances, no matter how close you were, you get new friends, in new environments and forget about you old mates. Is this what he is scared of?

9.       This is one of the most confusing scenes in the whole of history. Rap mon and V got caught. Rap mon smirks at V but then at the police. We then see a smiling V but the smile quickly turns into a look of surprise. Did Rap mon betray V? Was he too scared of the punishment they were supposed to share? Saying that he wasn’t part of the whole vandalising thing and framed V? is this the end of their friendship that Jin has warned about?

10.   J-hope jerks awake to find Jimin waiting for him to wake up. Oh no. did he fall into the long slumber of the real world and finally woke up to his fantacy with his friends? And the ace of clubs that Rapmon found upon the feathers (see meaning above), describes Jimin and Jhope’s current relationship. Soul mates. I think it describes all of their relationships. But as all armies know, Jihope’s relationship is one of the strongest within the group, at least that’s what I think.

11.   One of my favourite scenes (mainly because Yoongi is my bias and so is Jungkook). Yoongi yells at Jungkook and Jungkook tells his hyung to stop. Yoongi is almost an adult. He is leaving his youth behind but Jungkook refuses to let him go. I think Jungkook really looks up to Suga in general. Like he seems to be the arrogant kind of guy who thinks they are the best and the others think so too so they don’t say anything about it. But Yoongi doesn’t care, he still scolds the maknae as he should. They make good friends because of that and results in Jungkook looking up to the older boy. This is why Jungkook really doesn’t want Yoongi to leave him behind. Jungkook hugs Yoongi only to be pushed away again. Does Yoongi want to leave his youth behind? Jungkook pleads for him to stay. Their friendship, like the broken mirror, like the fallen house of cards, tears into pieces.

12.   Another one of my favourite scenes, Jungkook in a room full of partying people, sitting there looking at them as if he was in a dream. The camera zooms in on him and then zooms out again to reveal that there is no one there! What a plot twist (love me some plot twists). I love this scene because it completely pros my point. Jungkook is the youngest one, he is the last one to even reach 19 (the adult age in Korea) so obviously he is the last one to leave his youth. And until then, one by one of their hyungs will become mature adults and leave him to his youth, alone. He looks at the mirror and sees himself still as a boy. Oh and btw, Yoongi broke that mirror because he, inside, is no longer the boy he sees in the mirror, his outside.

13.   There’s this really short (and cute) scene of Yoongi finding (a wild) an unconscious Jimin on the floor. Did Jimin just turn into an adult? Is Yoongi there to the rescue?

14.   In the photobooth, we don’t really fully see Jungkook. Are they trying to say that, don’t worry Jungkook, even though we don’t look youthful anymore, we are still the fun people you once knew. We will not leave you alone in this scary world. Most importantly, we will not forget you.

15.   Jhope alone on a hospital bed. He falls asleep back into his fantasy world with his friends (on Jimin’s lap). They all meet up in this surreal world.

16.   Jungkook, alone, is once again found. He looks down at Jin. The maknae looking at the mathyung. Youngest and oldest. Their difference he realised, isn’t that great. Despite the age difference, they are very much alike.

17.   The WTF is happening scene where they vandalised every single car in the tunnel. Well done them, very subtle. this shows their rebellious youthful side.

18.   The ‘everybody hang out in the bath tub’ scene. A message to us armies, even though they are older, they are still the youthful, fun boys we met 3 years ago in ‘No more dream’. They didn’t change except for their age (and hair). They are still reckless and full of energy.

19.   The ending, resolution to everything. A message to Jin. “It’s okay, we are fine. Life is hard but we are surviving.” They run away together as a group. Away from the problems, as long as they are together, life is fine. Rap mon, in the end did not betray V, they ran away together to find the others. They are still together as one. The house of cards as Jin dreaded, does not exist and will never exist.

20.   Also their running scene on the highway (?), I love it. It reminds me of their song Kil or ‘Road’, where they talked about their journey together as a group. They have come this far together, they will ‘run’ into the future together.

21.   Jungkook smiles at Jin to reassure him that it’s fine. “We will come find you. But for now, we will enjoy as much of our youth as we can”.

Thank you for reading all this and thank you for putting up with my terrible English (there’s a reason why I dropped English right after my GCSEs). Also, the fact that I wrote an almost 2500 word essay just on their MVs, shows how much I love and appreciate our Bangtan Boys. Like I hate writing essays, and analysing stuff. But I had fun writing this. My first original piece. I hope people will agree with me on this, because I simply cannot live to think that they are about them dying. Nope.

P.s. The burning lilies…

i think they mean the dying of their innocence as boys. They are turning into a group of (fine) young men. I love them. So, so much.

Best wishes,

As you can see my name is Marcus. I’m a photography amateur, monochrome enthusiast, hobby musician, having a full time job in an office to pay the rent.

I am currently living in vienna, but i also like to travel a lot. That’s where my passion for photography originally came from. I started during summer holidays as a little kid with analog one way cameras and since the first “click” I’m kind of addicted to the sound and the way a camera works. I didn’t show my work a lot online till I figured out that tumblr has a really nice community. So I decided to create a blog showing my favourite black and white pictures of the past 6 years.

When it comes to photography I really like the “classics” e.g.: Henri Cartier Bresson, Vivian Maier, Daido Moriyama, William Klein,…. ok there are too many.

I like to shoot anything that’s eyecatching to me. It’s mostly street scenes, people and buildings in interesting light, architecture and landscapes.

I don’t think that the type of camera is very important for my kind of photography but in case you’re interested, that’s the gear I own: Ricoh Gr, Canon 5Dmii, Canon A1, Canon AE, Olympus µ2

Havin also a music background I always try to give my pictures a certain rythm. I guess that’s something music an photography have in common. I try to create those rythms with contrasts, shadows and light. And that’s where i try to find my own imagery.

Arrow Season 4 Countdown: 1 Day

Olicity (Duh!) Season 3

Although I firmly believe Season 2 was the best season for Olicity (but season 4 will probably beat) here’s my favourite moment from each episode.

The heart eyes in this little bit alone make me melt. But it’s also the way that Oliver sighs. Like admitting that he could be with Felicity takes a weight off his shoulders. Like he can say it out loud and he just relaxes. Like he can breathe easier.

This entire scene gutted me, I was sobbing. But it’s the way that Oliver is barely able to look at Felicity. He’s barely holding it together. And he can’t look at her. Because if he does, he’ll lose it. He’ll break. And he can’t break.

This is pretty much the only scene they have together in 3x03, because they go to get Thea and Felicity stays behind. But I love her face here. Because here they are, they’ve had this huge emotional fight after Sara and Felicity is trying to lighten the mood. To get a smile out of Oliver, the way she usually can.

Again, the only scene they have together. But I love the way Oliver looks at her, like he’s drinking her in. Like she’s the only person in the room with him.

I had a hard time picking from this episode. But I love the way they look at each other. The way Felicity makes eye contact with Oliver over her mom’s shoulder and he nods, confirming that they’re both okay. That he’s there for her, that she did good.

Honorable mentions: Oliver’s laugh/Felicity smile when she talks about the way ‘lover’ is a weird word. Oliver knowing something is wrong because Felicity isn’t answering her phone.

The way Oliver is almost drawn to Felicity like a magnet. And he gets right in her face, not in a threatening way, and has to take a step back. Personal space? What personal space.

Here, when Felicity asks if she can have the night off because Palmer has asked her out to dinner. She breaks my heart here, the way she clarifies that it’s a work date, not a date date. As if she’s waiting for Oliver to say something. To tell her he doesn’t want her to go. To say anything. To fight for her.

The looks on their silly little faces. I just melt. I try to imagine the scene where Cisco is trying to get rid of the hood and Felicity practically throws herself over the hood, saying that he can’t replace it. And Cisco asks why and she babbles out a long winded Felicity-like answer, and he’s looking at her completely lost before she yells out that it has sentimental value.

Also because she’s probably imagined herself grabbing him by the hood and kissing him, because I know I have.

I knew this was coming the first time I watched it and I still screamed. The way Oliver says that he loves her, he’s so sure, so confident. As if it’s the easiest thing in the world to say.

And then I think back to season 1, when Oliver could barely say anything that didn’t say fake or a lie and I cry over how far he’s come.

All thanks to Felicity.

Because Oliver is “dead” in this episode, they obviously don’t have any scenes together. But the person in the editing room that pieced this together deserves to be knighted because holy wow. It’s one of my favourite shots of the entire season.

The dream kiss. *dreamy sigh* I think what I love about it, is that even though it’s only a dream, it’s the only kiss that we’ve seen that Felicity has really gone in for. I think all of the others Oliver goes in first and most of the way.

Anytime that Oliver is whispering reassuring things in Felicity’s ear, I die. It kills me. The way he reassures her that he’s really there and he’s okay. I just melt.

Sexual tension. You can’t tell me that Oliver isn’t thinking about shoving all the things off the desk and having his way with her.

They are going to have the best angry sex ever in season 4.

I NEED Oliver to bring this up with Felicity. More than anything else in season 4, I need this. Because there is no way he doesn’t remember it. This little bright light of a girl when everything was so dark around him. He remembers.

Honorable Mention: Slade asking about the “girl with the glasses” and Oliver turning around practically in slow motion. It gives me the shivers.

This has got to be Felicity’s worst nightmare. She’s just got Oliver back, and yes, she pissed at him because he’s teamed up with Merlyn. But the last thing, the last thing in the entire world, that she wants to consider is losing him again.

(On a side note this is totally the scene that has the blooper of EBR calling SA a motherfucker.”

HIS STUPID LITTLE NOSE WRINKLE. He goes from scary vigilante to a bunny in seconds. And the way Felicity walks towards him… She is so turned on by him admitting that she’s right.

Everything here.

The way he freezes as she gets closer.

The way he bends slightly to get to her level.

The way he watches her leave out of the corner of his eye.

The way he stands there all dreamy faced after she leaves.

That’s it. That’s the show. And everyone knows that Felicity comes up with all the brilliant plans.

I love this. Of course she gets anxious Oliver. But Diggle’s reaction is what sell it. Because he is all of us. Like ‘don’t go there Oliver’.

It kills me how as Felicity is moving to walk away, neither of them are looking at each other. Felicity is looking at the ground and Oliver is looking anywhere but at Felicity. Like if they look at each other for too long, they won’t be able to leave. Felicity will stay or Oliver will go with her.

And the way that Oliver clenches his jaw to keep from calling out to her. He almost calls her back. Maybe to beg her to stay, to tell her everything, to beg for forgiveness for what he’s about to do.

It breaks my heart that the team is counting on Oliver’s feelings for Felicity to save them. And Oliver as to pretend it has no affect on him.

It has to been killing him.

It’s killing me.

The way Oliver looks at her, like he’s begging her to understand, begging her to forgive him. And Felicity is heartbroken. Like she can’t believe it. Oliver had just told her to trust him and now… She’s crushed. And the way, as the scene continues that she keeps staring at him, even when he looks away, even when she is being pulled from the room. She keeps staring at him, waiting for him to say something.

And Felicity leans on his shoulder, she’s silently supporting him, but also proving to herself that he’s there.

Aaron Tveit’s 2015

Sooooo as 2015 is almost over, it’s already been a year that i found out about this gorgeus, sweet, amazing and incredibly talented man. He’s been a huge part of my life eversince and i’d like to take a few moments to recall the most important&interesting moments of his past year.

Warning: if you don’t want to read too much, just keep scrolling down. This is gonna be a long post.

The year started (or more accurately: continued) with Assassins. (Aaron spent months in the same continent where I live, and i couldn’t go there to watch him…..)

Not much happened during spring, he was busy with shooting Graceland Season 3 which started in the end of June. This was kind of an eventful season for Mikey, he had some rough weeks… he almost died at the beginning, but he survived -  just to end up getting addicted to drugs…

… but luckily he got clean and we were soo proud of him!
And in this season Aaron proved that he can look hot in literally anything

… like seriously….

But most importantly - during some really tense scene he could show us what a brilliant actor he is.

I’d also like to greet Prince Charming - as i just can’t not grab the opportunity to say again how fabulous i think he looked with his long hair….

(This will forever be one of my all time favourite pictures of him.)

In the end of summer Aaron surprised (or should I say ‘shocked’…?) us with showing up both on Twitter AND Instagram

Soon enough, one after another came his adorable (and, btw, beautiful??) golf pictures. If someone hadn’t known his obsession with golf - well, now they do…

And of course let’s just not forget about those famous hashtags either…

In the end of September we lost Graceland (as it got cancelled…) - but Elsie Fest happened! God, it was so nice to hear his angelic voice again…!  (And his version of ‘Billie Jean’ - maaan, i’m still recovering….)

Aaron seemed to have a great time on stage, which is proved by his selfie. Speaking of which - it turned out he kinda has a “strong selfie game”??

In October, right before his birthday, he was the one giving us one of the most beautiful presents by singing “Defying Gravity” /duet with Rachel Tucker/. (Another thing i’m still not over….)

Aaannnnd last but not least here we are, in December, when the rehearsals of Grease Live have already started.

He seems to be having so much fun and i couldn’t be any happier to see him like this - all smily and dorky.

I hope 2016 will be at least as good for him as this year was, or even better! I can’t wait to see it!!! *-*

My top 10 Jonnor moments!

1. 2x18 = backyard scene
This is number 1 because it shows their jokey cute friendship and they we get to see the moment with the most chemistry ever when they’re on the ground! It’s the best of both their friendship and relationship!

2. 2x18 = the KISS
If this wasn’t 1 it had to be number 2! I mean it’s their first (and so far only) kiss!

3. 3x01 = hand holding
This is the first time we actually see them have a conversation about their relationship and they hold hands which makes it even more perfect!

4. 1x05 = blue nails
Their is no need to explain why this is on this list! It’s the beginning of the most beautiful relationship that is Jonnor!

5. 2x21 = Jonnor reunited
Finally they are back together and with the music and their smiles you can’t help but say aw! I may have cried!

6. 2x19 = flirting
I couldn’t decide between the flirting about the gum or the glimpse of footsie we get! All i know is I want to see more flirty Jonnor is season 3!

7. 2x21 = Jude & Lena
This moment is when we finally see Jude telling someone about him and Connor and it was as wonderful as it was heartbreaking!

8. 2x15 = the pinkies
This is the first clear sign of romance we get between Jude and Connor and just…awww

9. 2x20 = the texts
This got a place over Connors scene with his dad because it is the first time the word “gay” is associated with their storyline. And Hayden’s acting is exquisite - that’s the only word for it!

10. 2x03 = spin the bottle
This one is special to me because it was the scene that first got me shopping Jonnor! I didn’t think there was any way anything would happen between them at this point but a series later they’re officially boyfriends!

These are my top 10 picks! 1 is my favourite and 10 is my least favourite of their best scenes if that makes any sense. I love all these moments and there were so many more I wanted to include but these to me are the top 10! What do you guys think???

transcripts of Tyler’s Sydney panels pt 1

OKAY so this is way overdue but I’ve been like travelling for 3 weeks and tumblr mobile hates me a lot, ALSO it takes a lot of time to type this out. Basically I really do want to post the videos but they are gigantic files because I shot the entire thing instead of breaking them up and I am terribly un-tech-savvy, so uh, if anyone wants to offer help about this, it’d be appreciated!!

But for now, transcripts!! I’ll be doing both days, but my Saturday video has better sound, so that’s what I’m starting with….

existentiallyqueers-deactivated  asked:

i'm here asking the really important questions which need answering: will lucie be kissing any girls, or will girls kissing girls be in tell the wind and fire?

… I can’t say. I will explain!

It is my new policy not to talk too specifically about representation in any of my future books. When they are out I will, but not before then.

When I was writing the Lynburn Legacy series (and was super excited about it, but didn’t know if it would ever be published, because… wow, it seemed long odds!) I went online and talked about the book. Unspoken was my favourite book to write and I was really happy writing it, and I just wanted to talk about it all the time. ;) This meant I mentioned in a few different places, among other things, that I was writing a book that included ladies who loved ladies, and that generally I wanted to see more of that in YA. I didn’t go into any details, I mostly just went ‘wurble wurble laaaaaadies.’

One reader who’d been very kind about the Demon’s Lexicon series assumed that I was talking about different characters in the Lynburn Legacy than the characters I was talking about. When she read Unspoken she was disappointed. She was hurt, and discussed that publicly, and I felt horrible she was hurt, and like I had done a horrible thing. I also believe she didn’t read the rest of the Lynburn Legacy, which is a shame as she loved the Demon’s Lexicon series and obviously the Lynburn Legacy has far more about ladies and ladies loving ladies in it (not that I don’t like TDL… because I do! My two serieseses are just doing different stuff).

I’m not sorry I wrote my story the way I did, because I like my story. But I blame myself for talking about the story to the extent I did. I’m really sorry I publicly talked about representation in any way more specific than ‘I try to write stories that have some’–because representation is a fraught issue, and so important, and when that collides with people having certain expectations of literature or characters it can get very messy, and people can get hurt.

I do not enjoy talking people out of reading, or into hating, my books. I enjoy hurting people even less.

I have a friend who vaguely heard about the racist outcry over Idris Elba being cast as Heimdall in the Thor movies, and he went into the movie confidently expecting Thor to be black. He was very excited.

His viewing experience went like this:

FRIEND: So, this blond guy gets thrown out, and they elect a new Thor. Black Thor.

FRIEND: This movie has been going on for a while. They are not going to have enough time to properly introduce our black Thor.

(I was sorry for his pain. I too think Idris Elba would be an amazing Thor. But the movie wasn’t ruined for me the same way, because I didn’t have expectations for something I didn’t get.)

I have thought about maybe being more specific, so there wouldn’t be misapprehensions, but I’ve seen that backfire with other authors.

AUTHOR: Character B will be gay.

READERS: Oh that seems bad. He seems very stereotypical.

AUTHOR: Well, I think he has many layers but you haven’t read about him yet so I understand that you haven’t seen them… crap.

I’ve also seen:

AUTHOR: Character C will be bisexual.

READERS: Character C is my favourite LGBTQ character.

(That seems actually way worse, because–oh wow, you’d be bound to let the readers down!)

There’s all sorts of specifics about your books you probably shouldn’t talk about before the books come out, and I’ve come slowly to believe representation is one of them.

I totally understand if people disagree with me. It does counterintuitive to say: I won’t talk about representation before the book is out, because I used to think I definitely should talk about it. I thought: oh, if I tell people, the readers I want will want to read these books. I myself am always thankful to get a heads-up about representation!

For instance, I remember watching the pilot of Teen Wolf. I guess I was having a bad day, because I had a tantrum in the middle.

SARAH: Turn it off! Turn it off, I dislike these werewolves, and that guy Stilo is unfortunate in the face!

I turned it off. Some months later, I saw on the internet that there was a cool gay character in Teen Wolf called Danny, who was not stereotypical and was cute. And because I do not get enough representation in my genre media, I thought to myself: ‘OK, self! Time to give those werewolves a second chance!’ And I did, and I liked the show, and Danny is very cute, and Stiles (OOPS) turned out to be one of my favourite characters and totally OK in the facialur region.

But you know, the showrunner of Teen Wolf did not tell me about Danny. Other viewers told me about Danny.

In the last analysis, it seems best (to me, your mileage may vary!) to leave it up to the viewers/readers to say what’s there, and how they felt about it.

Another way things get messy is not just misapprehensions that happen, but the fact that books change as you’re writing them. If someone had asked me while I was writing Unspoken if we would get a lesbian character’s PoV I would have said ‘Yes, absolutely, we’ll get the PoV of a lesbian character.’ I’d written it! But it’s not in the final books. (The PoV of a bi character, still in there, but they are different characters and one PoV doesn’t make up for the absence of the other.) If I’d done that, I would have lied to my readers in a really harmful way.

Writing books means taking the risk of hurting people–doing almost anything does, but minimising the hurt to others is my goal. And once I’ve hurt people in a certain way, I do really try to learn and not do that again.

This was a very difficult decision for me, because I LOVE telling people stories and I want to tell them every detail I think they might be interested in. Whenever one of my friends asks me what I am writing, they have to brace themselves for a play-by-play of the story, with acting out of my favourite scenes and word-for-word dialogue I’m planning to write and extravagant hand gestures.

SARAH: And then they suspect her of MURDER-

FRIEND: Stop everybody is looking at you.

FRIEND: We’ve been in this restaurant five hours. I have appointments. I have a life!

I’m sorry! I hope this is not a weenie answer! I really am thinking all the time about how to make my books the best they can be, and how to behave myself online in the best way I can.

I am SO HAPPY that you think I did a good enough job with Holly and Angela (Holla!) that you’d like to see more. I’m so grateful you’re interested enough in Tell the Wind and Fire to ask, because I know you all have to wait a super long time for TTW&F, and I am always dreading you will all forget about me and go away! I’m so glad you asked, and I reallio trulio appreciate it.
