First off though I’d like to congratulate TouKen fans on their recent victory. I don’t hate the ship nor do I hate Touka, I just wasn’t the biggest fan of either. But moving on;
He was honestly the reason I started reading Tokyo Ghoul. To me his character was so interesting. He started out as a rich pompous asshole who tried to eat Kaneki because he was used to getting whatever he wanted, then actually grew to really like Kaneki (under the guise of wanting to still eat him), to going into a THREE YEAR DEPRESSION when Kankei “died”, to losing his entire family because of the CCG and then… nothing.
Like literally after the big Tsukiyama Extermination Arc, it was like he was written out of the plot all together. Oh sure he’s made a cameo here or there but really nothing of significance for his character other than Kaneki now trusts him.
But I really wanted the two to sit down and actually talk to each other; lay everything out they’ve experienced and just become much closer people. I kind of figured Shuuneki would never become end game but that doesn’t mean you can’t write an interesting strong friendship between the two.
Like with the recent set of chapters. Tsukiyama burst in telling them to turn on the TV then they decide to leave when Mutsuki attacks. Where did Tsukiyama go? He couldn’t have gone on that far ahead to have not seen the fight. Hell we could have had an interesting confrontation between Aura and Tsukiyama but nope he apparently was long gone.
Tsukiyama Shuu was and is still my favorite character and it seemed like Ishida was preparing something big for him. Tsukiyama is one of the most developed characters in Tokyo Ghoul next to Kaneki and Mutsuki. So why just drop the ball of the sudden?
It is Ishida’s story and I do accept that but I can still be a bit disappointed by the lack of recent development of his so-called favorite character.
Honestly think one of my favorite parts of 13 Reasons Why is the fact that they didn’t make Clay and Tony’s friendship an Angst Factory™. It’s so rare to see gay/straight friendships portrayed in such a normal way on any tv show, but the fact that it was on that one made it even better.
I love every single friendship on Bones, especially since to me, they are all this huge makeshift family. But these 3 listed above are my utmost favourites. Why? I’ll tell you why:
Brennan and Angela - to me, these two represent the most iconic best friends on television. Sure they are polar opposites, but they have been best friends for such a long time, and would do almost anything for the other, and I do hope to find a friendship like that myself one day.
Booth and Cam - these two have had the longest friendship on the show, over 20 years worth by now, and have remained good friends after all these years. While I was never a fan of them as a couple, their friendship certainly works for me, and they incite a special nostalgic pang in my heart whenever I watch scenes of them together because I can’t help but think back of their long history with each other.
Booth and Aubrey - this friendship is fairly new yes, but one that I will certainly miss dearly. Considering how Aubrey joined the team after Sweets’ death (rip dear Sweets), he has managed to earn Booth’s trust, respect and affection, and really, any scenes of them either talking about life or enjoying a meal together makes me really happy.
My names Liam, I just turned 16 a few days ago, and I am from California!
My hobbies include binge watching Netflix, FaceTime/Skype, procrastinating really badly on homework, and photography. Tbh I fuck with all kinds of music, except country (sorry lmao), But Lana del Rey, Halsey, Ariana Grande, and Melanie Martinez are my favs, but I love so many bands/artists you could literaly pick a random one and the chance that I like some of their music is very high. My favorite TV shows, music, and youtube videos that I like to watch constantly change so I love hearing about what other people are watching or listening to.
I super sarcastic and ½ of my texts include kim kardashian or New York memes. Where ever I go, drama seems to follow so I have like 3-5 rants a day about how annoyed I am or what made me laugh on that day. I love hearing about what other people went through on that day. I love friendships where we plan trips and our lives out with each other, and it’s going to actually turn into something that’s more than “what’s up?” for a month. I hope that we can can whenever, have a million inside jokes, interact on all social medias, laugh together, cry together, and grow up together. I speak english and I’m learning Spanish (I know conversational basically)
I love those 2 am texting friendships and honestly as long as you’re not a hateful person, we’ll get along great. I am 1000% fine with any Age/Gender/Sexuality etc; and i want to meet all types of people. At first I may be awkward af, but in a week ill probably be telling you all my secrets lmao, and I got some shit to spill😂😩🐸☕️.
You can talk to me at:
Snapchat: liam_awesome100 (yes I know it sounds like a 7 year old made that username, i made it so long ago and I don’t have the energy to make a new account)
kik: crimsonword (also made when i was young af, you can see that recurring theme of aged usernames here lmao)
PS: Holy shit did you really get to the end of that long ass paragraph?!? Good for you boo!👏🏼👏🏼
Hi! I’m currently in my final year of high school. I’ve been studying English for 7 years now and that’s what i’ll be studying in college in a few months in order to be an audiovisual translator. I’ll be down to help anyone struggling with learning French. I like literature, especially poetry. I love discovering new movies. My favorite ones are by Gregg Araki; Roméo+Juliette and Trainspotting, for instance. My favorite tv shows are The Walking Dead, Mr Robot, Skins, Sense8, The get down, That 70’s show… I also like food, turtles, sports and music. My favorite bands are The Doors, Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, The Strokes, Pvris and Pink Floyd but i enjoy different kind of music like Sade, Kehlani, Childish Gambino, Nas or Mac Miller, for example. I like talking about politics and discovering different cultures/languages.
Preferences: No racism or LGBT+ hate 17-22, no other preferences, except open mindedness :)
Only rarely do you come across a character death you just can’t shake. My world is shattered. I’m heartbroken.
Before #JanetheVirgin, I didn’t know who Brett Dier was. But all of the sudden, he was Michael Cordero, a fun-loving detective, and the perfect partner to @hereisgina Jane Villanueva on my favorite television show. During season one, I became #TeamMichael. But during season two, I became #TeamBrett.
Two years ago, I didn’t know about Brett or Michael. Now, I can talk about Michael Cordero as one of my favorite, and most beloved television characters of all time. I can also talk about how amazing and influential Brett Dier is, on and off the screen.
I’m happy I got to know Michael- his jokes, his friendship, and his love and loyalty for Jane and her family. As it’s the love and friendship everyone deserves and should hope to find. But I’m even more thankful that I got to know Brett- his kindness, his silliness, his beautiful outlook on life. So THANK YOU @brettdier. Not just for giving us an incredible performance, but for being you.
Tell us your thoughts on the sizzle reel!!! I must know. ESP of Iris stroking Savitar's face & him BEING AFFECTED BY IT. Omg. He's so far gone, but Iris is still his weakness in some capacity. I cannot.
My thoughts! I brought the clip because I want you to be able to see what I mean for yourself, if you’d like, and just because I love this promo so much. Without further adieu:
“Now finally I am free of you.” – Savitar. A motive! Savitar wants to kill Iris because he wants to be free of his identity as Barry and Iris is the very last straw he has.
Can’t believe my chocolate angel Amenadial is the favorite son. He deserved that one win. God used him. Mom is neglecting him. Lucifer is being Lucifer. Linda is probably lowkey still kinda mad at him. And Maze pissed of at him and doesn’t really wanna be his friend. He deserves happiness and love and friendships and all the trixie hugs and someone to sip cosmos with…. and…. ya know… his powers back……
Based off of 1x03 “Come on, I need ice cream or a drink. Let’s see which one we hit first”
For me, my favorite underrated moment, is when they get ice cream in season. There is just this sweet innocence between everything they do. That they have this amazing growing friendship after everything and its just a brief glimpse of what their relationship is to come in the following seasons. That they know exactly what the other one needs, and it starts right here in season 1, in the third episode. It speaks volumes to me. And just allowed me to write some super sweet fluff. Enjoy!
Can we speed this up? She loves you, you love her, I should protect her as if she were you. Have I missed anything?
Cara, “Legend of the Seeker,” S02 E19
The addition of Cara was one of the best things to happen to this show. Her relationship with Kahlan is one of my favorite TV friendships ever, and I truly appreciate that they did not turn the Richard-Kahlan relationship into a Cara-Richard-Kahlan love triangle. Also Cara just has the best lines.
If she was selfish that’s fine call her out on it that’s relevant but the whole “boohoo you shouldn’t win because you were my friend and now you won’t text me back” like???? Are you 16??? Like what is this? if the bitch doesn’t like you then oh well suck it up it’s the fucking real world some friendships don’t blossom “I’ve cried about it for weeks and weeks” over one maybe friendship you sort of made on a reality tv show??? Like really the whole just seemed immature of Farrah moan. Also everyone acting like being fan favorite is a shitty thing to be??? Like honey the fans are what make you you should vomit with excitement at though of being a fan favorite. I was stanning Farrah so hard until now like this was some bitter ass immature bullshit.
Sherlock Holmes has appeared on screen so many times over the past 100+ years. Because of the sheer amount of Sherlock Holmes adaptations, it can be hard to figure out what to watch and where to start.
Because of this I’ve narrowed down some of the best of the film and TV adaptations over the years. I’ve included the name, year, main actors, a brief summary, why it’s so good/important, and a trailer, if applicable. Please enjoy.
1. The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes(TV 1984-85) [Jeremy Brett as Holmes and David Burke]
The Granada Holmes series remains today one of the most faithful adaptations to ever exist, and Jeremy Brett holds the title of The Definitive Holmes for good reason. This first season holds faithful to some of the best and most well-known stories that Conan Doyle wrote, beginning with Irene Adler and ending with the Falls of Reichenbach.
Definitely the best Holmes adaptation to date-Granada came the closest to adapting every canon story, and did so with minimal changes for the most part. Brett remains today one of the best loved Holmes’ of all time. It also casts Watson as the faithful friend and wonderful, smart man of the canon, something other adaptations would sometimes struggle with. It’s beautifully filmed and has an amazing soundtrack that fits Sherlock Holmes perfectly. A definite staple of film and tv for the Holmesian.
2. The Hound of The Baskervilles(1939) [Basil Rathbone as Holmes and Nigel Bruce as Watson]
The first and arguably the best of Universal’s Sherlock Holmes films. An adaptation straight from the HOUN book, with minor changes and alterations. Unlike the majority of Universal’s Holmes films, Hound of the Baskervilles is set in Victorian times instead of modern day.
This film marked the beginning of an era for Sherlock Holmes movies (and also for a bumbling Watson). Rathbone is sharp and truly amazing as Sherlock Holmes, playing him as cutting and cunning as ever, but still with the kindnesses of Holmes that people enjoy. Although perhaps not some of the most faithful Holmes films, these still remain classics and some of the best in many people’s eyes. (my pick was Hound simply because I couldn’t decide on my true favorite–if you like this one, definitely see the rest of the films)
3. Sherlock(2010-present) [Benedict Cumberbatch as Holmes and Martin Freeman as Watson]
Sherlock is a modern updating of Conan Doyle’s original series, and has gotten VERY popular, VERY quickly all over the globe. Although all the cases have modern twists to them and changes, Many of the plotlines, characters, dialogue bits, and other things come straight from the canon.
This series is truly proof of how far Sherlock Holmes has come since the Victorian age and the date of his creation. And definitely proof of a character living way beyond his years. Sherlock is a definite masterpiece, no other word to describe it. Brilliant and clever writing, beautiful cinematography, an incredible soundtrack, utterly fantastic casting, and in the hands of two very devoted and loving Sherlock Holmes fans. The entire series is brilliant and has an amazing storyline that proves why Holmes is so popular as a detective story, but also why the title transcends the genre and becomes more about the detective himself. (My pick is definitely series one, and A Study in Pink for the best episode, but definitely watch the entire series).
4. The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes(1970) [Robert Stephens as Holmes and Colin Blakely as Watson]
An amazing and affectionate take on Sherlock Holmes, the man behind the legend and the public image. The film’s plot starts as Holmes is being asked to have a child with a Russian ballerina (Johnlock shippers will enjoy his reply), shifts to a case of a woman washed up in the Thames and brought to Baker Street, to sightings of the Loch Ness monster, to pre-WWI spies.
There’s alot of information and plot strands in this film which makes it very interesting for films scholars and Holmesians alike. However, its loving, if somewhat nearly parody-like, portrayal of Holmes is very amazing to watch. It’s a long but beautiful movie and definitely an influence for many of the Holmes films that follow it.
5. The Great Mouse Detective(animated, 1986) [Basil of Baker Street and Dr David Q Dawson]
Based on the books of Eve Titus, The Great Mouse detective is a very loving and family friendly film and does an excellent job of keeping the spirit of Sherlock Holmes while translating the characters to the world of animated mice. Olivia Flaversham’s toymaker father is taken by Rattigan (the mouse world’s Moriarty). She meets Dr Dawson and together they go along with Sherlock Holmes in an attempt to find out what Rattigan is planning with the toymaker for his nefarious schemes.
For many people, this was their first Sherlock Holmes movie, and they don’t remember it being so until they revisit it later in life. It is as much a perfect film for kids as it is for Sherlock Holmes fan’s. The characters are based heavily on Rathbone’s Universal films of the 30’s but also do their canon counterparts very great justice.
6. Sherlock Holmes(TV 1954) [Ronald Howard as Holmes and H Marion Crawford as Watson]
A VERY often underrated Sherlock Holmes TV series, but an adaptation faithful to the spirit of the original canon. There are 39 short episodes in the series, each with slightly simple and often comedic plots.
The friendship shown between Holmes and Watson (and often Lestrade) is the real reason to watch this series. The love and affection these men have for each other is outlined brilliantly in their bickering and teamwork and banter. However silly the plots are, the real gem of the series is the characters themselves. Definitely one to watch if you want to relax and just have deep feelings for a friendship that’s lasted since the Victorian age. All the episodes are currently available on youtube.
7. The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson(1979-86) [Visaly Livanov as Holmes and Vitaly Solomin as Watson]
Widely regarded as the best Sherlock Holmes and a definite fan-favorite, this Russian series is absolutely incredible. It’s very well done and very faithful to Sherlock Holmes and the spirit of the original series.
One of the few series to feature the meeting between Holmes and Watson. It’s a Russian series, so subtitles are a must unless you speak the language, but as always, it’s a series that the Holmesian will enjoy and should see as part of their background.
8. Young Sherlock Holmes(1985) [Nicholas Rowe as Holmes and Alan Cox as Watson]
Teenage Sherlock Holmes and John Watson meet at a boarding school and are thrust into a mystery when a teacher is murdered, his last words breathed to Holmes “Eh-tar”, leading them to a secret group right under their feet.
For fans of boarding school/college aus, this is the perfect movie. Watson’s slightly out of character, and Sherlock has a love interest, but the casting and the writing are both spectacular. The soundtrack rings of adventure and echoes that same feeling from the original stories. It’s an interesting look at what may have happened if Holmes and Watson had gone to school together. (to this day remains my favorite Sherlock Holmes movie)
9. The Seven Percent Solution(1976) [Nicol Williamson as Holmes and Robert Duvall as Watson]
The film takes on another explanation for Holmes’ three-year absence and the Moriarty problem, as well as delving deep into Holmes (here) drug addiction and offering a glimpse into what could have been the detective’s childhood. Based on the book by Nicholas Meyer.
Although not one of my favorite Sherlock Holmes films (not by a mile), it’s a very interesting take on the detective, and a very Freudian look at him (literally). The book and film are often very widely known among the Holmesian community and the film is definitely a classic worth seeing on anyone’s Sherlock Holmes journey.
10. Sherlock Holmes: Baker Street 221b (TV 2013) [Igor Petrenko as Holmes and Andrei Panin as Watson]
Another fun Holmes series from Russia, this time very modernly done. It’s a new and different take on Holmes and Watson and their friendship, but still very respectful to the spirit of the characters, the friendship and the original stories. The two meet by accident at the scene of a murder, and from there, the story begins.
As far as I’m aware, there were very mixed feelings about this series, but I think it’s an amazing piece of work and a worthy addition to the Holmes Legend. Unfortunately, the actor who played Watson died, so it’s unknown if we will be seeing any more of this series. Watson is very much a fighter and a tough guy whereas Sherlock is very much more brains then brawn. (seriously good series)
11. Sherlock Hound~Meitantei Holmes(1984-85) Japanese Animated cartoon; English dubbed.
Another series aimed more for children, but one that resonates well with Holmes fans. It shows deep affection for the original characters while making everyone animated dogs. Sherlock Hound is kind and smart; Dr Watson is loyal if somewhat clumsy. And Moriarty is nefariously evil for a children’s series, somehow behind every crime that Hound must solve. The beautiful Mrs Hudson often plays large parts in the episodes as well.
A definite high recommendation from me. The cartoons are very beautifully made–Hayao Miyazaki of Studio Ghibli fame apparently was in on the early production stages.
12. A Game of Shadows(2011) [Robert Downey Jr as Holmes and Jude Law as Watson]
Another film with mixed reviews from the Holmesian community, this is the second of (so far) two films directed by Guy Ritchie. It can be seen as a sequel to the first or on it’s own. Holmes is preparing to face his arch nemesis Moriarty, whose plans involve him having a very big stake in the first world war. It is up to Holmes to figure out Moriarty’s game and stop him. Much more action based then mystery based, which isn’t always the best for a Holmes film, but it works well here. Also of note is Holmes’ and Watson’s FANTASTICALLY played relationship/friendship, now challenged by Watson’s wife, Mary.
Very much in the same vein as the first film, but for me, this movie is much more in the spirit of the original stories, with much more action and violence, of course. Downey Jr may not be the perfect Holmes, but he’s a very funny and adept one, adding new quirks and mannerisms to the Holmes arsenal. Jude Law is a fantastic Watson, and for Moriarty and Moran fans, this is probably the perfect film. Very high up on my favorite Holmes adaptation list and definitely worth the watch–if not for the Holmes aspect, then simply for the pure fun and excitement of the movie.
Harry thinks “Why is Malfoy working in a coffee shop in muggle London?” is a much simpler question than, “Are you going to accept that auror offer and, if you don’t, what will you do?”
This one is sort of fandom famous, I gather. Coffee shop au with Draco living like a muggle, Harry who is so very curious and has no excuses and who’s life is a bit of a mess, and drarry friendship!.-This was the very first drarry fanfic i read, -in a time where i wasn’t even really in the hp fandom anymore, mind you - and it’s 100% the reason I have returned to my hp trash origins and have allowed drarry to take over my life, and so it will forever have a special place in my heart. I really love the meta insert this story has, the characterization and world discussion is top notch and muggle living snarky sweater wearing cute and jerk-y repentant Draco and wtf am i doing with my life earnest, embarassed and unwittingly charming Harry at it’s best.
Draco is a high-end prostitute who hides his identity. Harry unknowingly hires him. And then there is porn, questions about identity, domestic bliss, more porn, and truth as seen through a web of lies
Epilogue, What Epilogue? About five years after the battle of Hogwarts. Someone at the Ministry has it in for former Death Eaters. Draco Malfoy launches his political career as a rebel. Harry thinks it’s all a laugh.
Lettered is one of my favorite authors; her writing is smooth as silk, (in some of her stories it feels a little bit too constructed, but it doesn’t really bother me, and it’s not the case on these two)her world building is amazing and she handles angst without seeming forced cry me a river fic like a pro.The tension in her stories, in the way she deals with the conflict between harry and draco and how the war changed them, how she questions both j.k’s treatment of slytherins and the super easy redemption the fandom sometimes gives them at the same time is terrific, so smart and pretty unique. Another Mask Behind You, you can prob tell, is very very smutty. Like really. Heed the warnings. It has harry hiring rentboy tristan bonchance, not knowing he is draco and then they manage to fall in love and when he finds out it’s draco lots and lots of angst and feelings and guilt and discussion arise ( the ending is one of my very faves). In now the shining sun is up harry is a slightly disilusioned with life and sort of numbed down auror and draco is stirring up trouble by speaking up against exagerated and dangerously persecutionist post war backlash to people who’ve been on voldemort’s side (and on some cases people who were connected to people related to people on voldemort’s side). Harry thinks he’s delusional and silly and then he doesn’t. This is one of my most favorite fics, the post war characterization is the best, harry dismissing it all is infuriating but understandable and in character, the anti former death eater hate doesn’t feel “poor, poor bullied draco”, like it often can, it feels real and the dialogue/ the discussions harry and draco have are just perfect; it’s meta insert fic nailed hard.
Parolee Draco Malfoy has one last chance to redeem his family name: a Requaero Probum, a noble quest to prove his honor. And what could be more honorable than travelling to a tower to save a damsel from a curse?
This fic somewhat inspired by Shreck, I think, in which Draco needs to fulfill a quest to earn his freedom, and that quest is to bring Harry, who is currently trapped in a tower in the middle of the forbidden forest, back out into the world. This is so well written, so unlike any other drarry fics I’ve read, full on adventure fic with deeply irritating (but not really ooc) Percy and a delightful take on Draco and Harry. It’s Pre-slash, and the kind of pre slash that makes you want to beg for a follow up, and i love it and i really, really wish this style/thematic was more popular in the fandom, bc its just gold.
“Love is like a Rubix Cube: there are countless wrong twists and turns, but once you get it right, it’s perfect no matter how you look at it.” Seventy-thousand words of pornographic discourse between two boys-turned-men that still haven’t learned how to communicate like normal people – with words.
Draco is a professional dom rentboy and Harry hires him and there’s angst and lots of being tied up and fucked and baby scorpius and feelings. Porn with a lot of plot, but still a lot of porn so heed the warnings; a liiiiitle resembling Another Mask Behind You, with a very different turn. This story is so well constructed so well thought out; i love harry’s characterization and the rocky relationship and the angst and the issues and how frustrated it makes you because why dont they just talk and it’s just overall amazing. also, draco has a yellow camaro he calls honey badger and harry wears a bdsm collar in broad daylight like it’s nobody’s business and manages to influence some kids into wearing it too.
Harry is living a life most ordinary; maybe a dragon can shake things up.
A game of truth or dare.
In the first, Harry is working at Gringotts as a minor curse breaker and discovers Draco is one of the vault guarding dragons as an animagus, and thus tries to woo his friendship with his green, green eyes. The second is just a little one shot, post truth or dare sex haze drarry, but it’s just so eletric and good ? I don’t even know. It’s funny, slightly angsty and snarky and compelling, and just read them. Trust me.
Harry should have known better than to accept a drunken dare. Especially when Malfoy was sitting right there, looking like that and wearing those bloody tight trousers.
The author of this is Anonymous and that’s so sad bc it. is. so. good, and i would love to read more from this author? sigh.anyway, Harry is pining and oblivious and Draco is flirty and unfairly hot and there is drunken truth or dare with all the hogwarts crew and it’s such a fun story, the ust is handled brilliantly, it’s hilarious and cute and toroughly good.
Being An Originally Intermittent Account of the Political (Mis)Adventures of the Viscount Northallerton, Lord Malfoy of Wimbledon; and the Rt. Honourable Harry J. Potter, Member of Parliament for North Southwark and Bermondsey (Liberal Democrat)
Oh, the writing here is one of the absolute best, the dialogue is perfect and the development of the relationship between draco and harry is so, so good. It’s not a muggle au, but it is predominantly set in the muggle world, most specifically the english parliament, with such interesting world building. Harry is a lib dem and draco is a conservative (i know next to nothing abt british politics, and maybe for that reason this story was very amusing), and they have a competitive sort of flirty sort of piny sort of friendship thing going on. The tension and balance and baggage between Draco and Harry is delightful and it’s my favorite type of fun story, where everything is so well constructed and detailed and still deeply amusing but always with an edge, and my fave type of drarry friendship. It’s one of the best fics out there, and if you like this one, i really rec currency by the same author as well.
It always rains for Draco Malfoy. Metaphorically. And literally. Ever since he had accidentally Conjured a cloud. A cloud that’s ever so cross.
For reasons he’d rather not think about, Draco is obsessed with Potter’s hair. This cannot end well.
Faithwood is one of my absolutely favorite authors; every fic i’ve read by them is just too good, and i honestly rec all of them. Both of these are eight year fics, (faithwood is def 8th year fic queen, imo), so funny and amusing and adorable and in character and slightly angsty and sweet but it’s all so well balanced out. Featuring eight year goodness and tentative drarry friendship and stupid boys being embarassing and often oblivious. Two of my very faves and an author i come back to again and again. (Punching Mistletoe is a really short but really, really great one too)
Drop Dead Gorgeous and The Way We Get By by maya mistful
“I realise this may come as a shock to you, but our investigations have been going on for some time, and we’re quite sure. Your mother Lily Evans was not, as we had all previously believed, of pure Muggle stock. One of her ancestors was a Veela.”
This fic is a really, really fandom famous one; it’s not online anymore, but there are some pdfs floating around, and is absolutely, 100% worth the read. It’s auror fic and a very interesting twist on veela fic, with grumpy, accidentaly super irresistible veela!harry and apparently immune snarky partner!draco, with angst, miscomunication, really well balanced humor (at the start i actually thought it was going to be a crack fic), slightly co-dependent friendship filled to the edges with sizzling ust and delightfully painful pining. Also features Harry describing young voldy as ‘tall, dark and mind blowing’ which is probably my favorite tom riddle description.
After the war, Draco works at a tv repair shop and Harry breaks things.
feat. sad boys in jumpers and more ABBA than is probably necessary
Oh god, this one is definetly, definetly one of my favorites. Features Draco working in a muggle repair shop, Harry that keeps coming back not knowing why, analysis of the weird relationship between harry and draco in canon and toast burning because boys are too busy kissing intensely on the counter. It reminds me of Here’s the Pencil, Make it Work, but it’s construction is quite distinct, and while htpmik has a bit more of world discussion/character meta, which i love, the relationship between harry and draco here is more well paced and better developed. It’s so beautifully written, earnest and sweet but intense and raw at the same time and has one of my favorite get togethers. Also, i have a weak spot for repair shops. idk.
How to win back your television remote and get your obnoxious flatmate to shut his trap for more than a minute and a half.
Harry and Draco are roomates who have these ~moments~ sometimes where they feel so tense and just want strangle each other and rile each other up for no conceivable reason, wonder why, and in one of these moments they end up fighting for the remote control. And then they have sex. Hilarious, cute, sweet, hot and well written and generally everything you could want
“So,” he brought up conversationally at Ron and Hermione’s later that night, all of them safely two drinks in, “have either of you received an invitation to Draco Malfoy’s wedding?”
Draco asks Harry to pretend to be his best man/best friend at his and Pansy’s wedding to regain the favor of public opinion, but little does harry know that pansy put draco up to it to resolve his convoluted feelings towards harry. It’s still in progression but the development of their friendship is so great, some delightful tense lucius and harry moments, and pining!! funny pining, sad pining, oblivious pining and puzzled harry, it’s all so good and so sweet and yes.
This is a summery romantic comedy featuring my favourite ensemble cast, in which Harry is confused, Draco is Draco, and Hermione attempts to eat all the things.
When Potter starts behaving more oddly than usual, Draco has no choice but to take an interest. After all, it’s his job. Sort of.
Sara’s Girl has a very distinct writing style, a very earnest and sensitive sort of writing, that just sort of flows, be it comedy or angsty or both, and I definetly rec all of the stories I read by her. These two are my favorites though; in This Summer pretty much all of Harry and Draco’s hogwarts colleagues (from gryf to slythe) are established friends and regularly hang out and have bomb ass parties with quirky themes such as sea creature fantasies and dress as each other and, of course, Draco and Harry pine for each other. Harry then tries to purchase a nicer wardrobe - not because he wants to impress draco or anything, no of course not- and begins a tentative slightly crush-y friendship with the clothes salesman, Cal. This fic has such a summery, fun vibe and the pining is so good and the resolve is so sweet and the best post hogwarts inter house friendship ever, like honestly, kinda high key wish to be friends with all of them cause they’re all hella cool. In Scurrilous, Draco is a radio host and Harry owns a pet store in Diagon Alley and does bizarre shit like dye his hair purple and walk around with a crocodile on a leash, and Draco spies on him trough a telescope and talks about him on the radio then proceeds to bring him lunch and buy ducks and sensasionalist media kinda sucks. Night Vale probably conditoned me but i love, love, love radio host fics and i wishhh there were more fics with the trope out there. This one is so cute, harry is bizarre and funny, Pansy is amazing, draco is adorable (and in denial! sighs happily) and has a bunch of pet ducks!!, their relationship is adorable and it’s the type of story that puts a huge, permanent grin on your face.
