Heey I love your art! What are your top favorite 5 Nalu momentas?
thats really hard to choose oh my god! i love even when they are looking to each other but for you ill choose so
Number 5: Unlike the other scenes when Natsu threatens his enemies who are trying to hurt Lucy with his already well known quote “ Ill burn you to ash” This one is different. Natsu has already experienced how it is to loose Lucy so this time, he is angrier than other times, He points there “ It is still Lucy” No matter what happens to her, Lucy will always be Lucy for him. Even so, look at her face. After staying near his bed, worried about him dying, look how happy she is.. her smile here is precious
Number 4: Lucy sleeping near Natsu, She has been worried about his life and she didn’t move away from him one single second, no matter that Freed told her he will be okay and anyone else. Natsu had a lot of friends, each one doing his fights but it was Lucy staying near him all this time, like in the earlier chapters when she got naked to save his life.
Number 3: Lucy hugging Natsu from behind
She now does this quite often, but this one was a relief for her. She needed it, she wanted to thank him for everything he has done. I dont think i Can explain this that much, but i just love this moment
Number 2: Lucy jumping from the tower She chooses to jump, to have faith in Natsu. She knows that wherever she is, whatever she does, he will always be there protecting her, catching her from falling. I dont think she really heard his voice, but she says “ I am sure” she knows he will hear her, he will save her once more time. I loved how this scene was animated, because I love hearing Lucy screaming “ Natsuu” Aya really did put passion voicing that scene lol
And there he is, catching her right on time before she hits the ground.
Number 1: the last and my favorite: LUCY!
How I said before, he experienced already how it is to loose her, he doesn’t want to loose the most important person in his life, after loosing Igneel. He climbs onto her, protecting her with all of his body. He was faster than he was with Future Lucy, he was with all of his on her, taking the impact to protect her. You can see into his eyes all of his feelings: Agony, desperation. He would do everything for her, even sacrifice his own life
Mashima shows us how Nalu grew into a strong friendship-relationship. More than friends but less than lovers. Their time will come. Natsu cares the most about Lucy and Lucy cares the most about Natsu. Being put in face of one another`s death, it shows not once, but every time that each one of them would do absolutely everything for one another, giving their own lives for the other one.
Andrew put his racquet down in front of Neil like a shield
The King’s Men by Nora Sakavic, chapter 17
This is definitely one of my favorite images, I’m not sure I can emphasize this enough.
Little points about this scene, anyway:
Riko uses a heavy racquet, we’re told this in The Raven King when Neil’s shopping for his one racquet: “Kevin used a heavy with the Ravens, but he’d switched to a light racquet after his injury. Riko still used one.“ (The Raven King, chapter 11)
When Aaron uses Neil’s own heavy racquet on Drake, we get this: “He brought Neil’s racquet up and around in an underhanded swing so hard and fast air whistled through the tight strings.” (TRK ch11) When Riko attacks Neil, this is the description: “Riko’s racquet got close enough that Neil heard wind whistling through the strings,“ (TKM ch17) There’s no way this isn’t a deliberate call back, just in case we weren’t sure Riko was about to kill Neil.
Also, this is one of the first things we learn about Andrew: “Two years ago some men attacked Nicky outside of a nightclub. Andrew was within his rights to defend Nicky, but he’d almost killed the four of them“ (The Foxhole Court, chapter 2)** And throughout the series we do see Andrew resort to violence easily enough, and generally it would be considered excessive. But in this scene, though? Maybe you could argue that he could have disarmed Riko instead of breaking his arm, but given that Riko was about to commit murder despite the crowd, I don’t think that would be enough to stop him. And whether it was or not - Andrew stopped him, and that’s it. No retaliation, no further violence, just this - “Andrew put his racquet down in front of Neil like a shield“. Making it clear he will protect Neil, and that’s all.
(and sure the situations are different in many ways, but most of those only matters if Andrew cares about the consequences, for him or for Neil or for the rest of the Foxes) ((and if you want to be optimistic and look at the situation with kindness (which, let’s be honest, i always want to do), it also comes down to a difference in Andrew in himself, who doesn’t need as much anymore to lose himself to violence when those he considers his are threatened))
Anyway though, none of this matters to my initial point, which is :
Andrew using his racquet to shield Neil
which is an image I’m never going to grow tired of.
**((now i think we should keep in mind that neil knows that second hand, and i’m pretty sure when it comes to a foster kid out of juvie defending his cousin against homophobic assault, facts are not presented with much sympathy. still we see enough of Andrew’s MO to know that it wasn’t far from the truth))
When you tryna do “research” for a Roger/Jamie/Claire fic and you’re assaulted by THIS.
“God, no! I don’t want him to see me like this!”
His momentary silence told me, but I kept stubborn hold of his sleeve, unable to think how else to prevent the unthinkable. I blinked, water sliding over my face like a stream over a rock, and Roger wavered once more into visibility, blurred around the edges.
“He’s…er…he’s seen you,” Roger said gruffly. He looked down, not wanting to meet my eyes. “It. Already. I mean - ” He waved a hand vaguely in the vicinity of his own black locks. “He saw it.”
“He did?” This was nearly as much a shock as the initial discovery. “What - what did he say?”
He took a deep breath and looked back up, like someone fearing to see a Gorgon. Or the anti-Gorgon, I thought bitterly.
“He didn’t say anything,” Roger said quite gently, and put a hand on my arm. “He - he just cried.”
“Oh. Well,” I said, and lifted one hand, heavy as lead. “Do. Get something. Won’t you?”
“Yes, he said. “I will.” Instead of leaving, though, he hesitated, then took several rapid strides back, bent over the bed, and seizing my face between his palms, kissed me on the forehead.
“You’re beautiful,” he said fiercely, and with a final squeeze of my cheeks, left.
GUYS. This is giving me so much hope. That whole scene during season two, when Slade attacks the arrow cave, is one of my favorites for a reason. They even appear to be in similar positions and stances just like in that episode. I am sure it is no coincidence that Felicity is wearing an extremely similar outfit to the one she wore in that episode.
Oliver was dating Sara at that time as well, just like he’s “dating” (I put dating in quotes because I’m using it as a loose term - the two have only kissed. they’re not getting married here, people) Susan Williams now. They are doing these parallels for a reason.
Season two was when the dynamic of Arrow changed. According to Stephen (and myself and many other members of the fandom), Oliver realized he was in love with Felicity in episode 2.06. From that point forward, aside from the atrocious Sara/Oliver relationship, they were building Olicity up. This season, they are doing the same.
I have full confidence that Oliver and Felicity are going to realize that they are still very much in love with one another by the end of the season, and there is evidence of that because of these parallels and because of the clues laid out this season.
“Rage, rage against the dying of the light” -Dylan Thomas. This is a quote from one of my favorite poems that we had to analyze in my English class, and I feel like it matches with Juvia’s determination. This scene belongs with Juvia’s past when she was abandoned and alone. However, when she finds the slim chance of hope she refuses to give up. The anime is Fairy Tail and belongs to Hiro Mashima.
Nick Joaquin once said that Filipinos have this tendency to build things and group together and eventually collapse. … Here’s one guy who’s trying to bring things together but the natural tendency of the Filipino nation is to be in pieces. - Jerrold Tarog, director (Heneral Luna, 2015)
Sansa drifted to seep as the moon rose, Arya several hours later, curling in the grass under Ned’s cloack. All throught the dark hours he kept his vigil alone. When dawn broke over the city, the dark red blooms of dragon breath surrounded the girls where they lay. “I dreamed of Bran” Sansa had whispered to him. “I saw him smiling”. - Eddard V, AGOT.
This part of Ned charapter is not only so heart warming ( imagine sansa and arya sleeping peacefully while their loving father keeps guard…such a sweet scene). But for me this quote can foreshadow Sansa, Arya and Bran all surviving at the end. When the dawn broke could mean when the war of dawn (with the others) ends, and the dragons are gone ( the dark red blooms of dragon breath) the girls (Arya and Sansa) are still there. And Sansa dreamed of Bran too, smiling. I just hope for my stark children to be happy and alive at the end.
You’re gonna say it’s because, technically, a child with a working brain stem can’t be declared brain dead even though he’ll never walk or talk or move or eat, even though he’s missing the parts of his brain that he needs to have a life. Not just be alive, but have a life. To love, to think, to know words and feelings, to be conscious. You’re gonna talk to me about medicine and technicalities and the failings of science. Yeah. But the thing is, that’s not why you won’t do the harvest. It’s because it’s unimaginable. What I’m asking you to do is unimaginable. It’s horrible. It’s excruciating. I’m asking you to help dismantle my baby for parts. And there’s no piece of anyone’s soul that can hold that and feel okay. But I’m asking. I’m asking you. I’m his mother. And I’m asking you to do this. And you want to know why? It’s because I did a little research, Sam. Science. In Chicago, there’s this baby girl, 6 weeks old, with pulmonary hypertension who needs new lungs. Outside Detroit there is a 10-day-old boy who was born blind, but could see if he had new corneas. I read this blog about this 14-month-old kid named Gideon in San Diego who’s been on a heart-lung machine for months because he needs one tiny valve in his heart. There’s burned babies who need skin. There’s infants who need livers, and toddlers who need kidneys, and there’s even this one 4-month-old girl named Lulu who needs a multiple-organ transplant. My baby could save all of those babies. He could be responsible for kids leaving the hospital and going home and growing up and falling in love and having sex and arguing with their boyfriends and making mistakes and living and maybe not ruining their lives with drugs. What I’m asking you to do is unimaginable. But it’s also everything those other mothers could ever imagine. I’m his mom. And I’m asking you to do this. If I can get there, why can’t you?
I was trying to post this on AO3, because it’s going to be a multi-parter. But AO3 is being grouchy tonight. So the first part will go up here, and get put up over there when the database starts behaving itself again. Then the rest of the chapters will go up over there too.
“While You Were Sleeping” is one of my all-time favorite movies ever. It just doesn’t feel like Christmas unless I’ve watched it at least once. And because I love it so much, I won’t be able to resist slipping verbatim quotes in here and there. So, watch out for those. Also, I know this is a Valentine’s challenge, but this movie is so wrapped up with Christmas for me that I had to set it then.
I’ll be honest - after this chapter, the rest of this so far is pretty much an outline interspersed with scene scraps. I’m hoping to post at least twice a week, but the schedule may be, ummmm, flexible. I’ll still try to get it all done in the month deadline.
That said, enjoy!
Life Doesn’t Always Turn Out the Way You Plan
dad used to say something to me all the time when I was growing up. He
would get this distant look in his eyes and he would tell me, “Iris,
baby, life doesn’t always turn out the way you plan.”
l just wish I’d realized at the time he was talking about my life.
Jason Isaacs always looked after me very well. Alan Rickman, Michael Gambon, Helena Bonham Carter - they’re all wonderful people and very helpful and inspiring. I bored Alan Rickman for hours about Robin Hood. It was one of my favorite films when I was younger and I asked how he did certain scenes. He was very patient and charming. It took me six years to work up the courage to ask him. Helena gave me advice about crying in a scene. She said tell your brain you’re not allowed to cry and then it’s more likely to happen. No one was difficult. You hear stories about actors who demand their coffee to be served at a certain temperature but on Harry Potter if you wanted a cup of tea you had to get it yourself.
6. Tangled- I am a sucker for Disney movies but this one takes the cake for me. I could probably quote the entire movie and my favorite song is “I have a dream”
5. Clueless- Honestly name a more iconic person than Cher. Also baby Paul Rudd
4. Captain America: Civil War- First of all Bucky Barnes is a plum buying angel and I will defend him until the day I die. Second of all Tom Holland as Peter Parker is the love of my life and he yells “Love you Mae” which is my nickname so
3. Bridesmaids- The airplane scene kills me every time and the rest of the movie is just as funny. Plus talk about a killer cast. Dammit Carol!
2. The Martian- Well Chris Beck. But also my love for Matt Damon is so real. And to quote Mark, “I’m gonna have to science the shit out of this”
1. Easy A- So many amazing quotes and so many favorite scenes. The parents kill me, Olive is the tru role model, and the pocket full of sunshine card is a gift to the world. “Welcome. This is where the magic happens. And as we all know, by “magic” I mean nothing.“
“Over the last four years I’ve been forced to grow up. I stopped letting boys define me and I started believing in myself and my potential. And I ran for student council president and I designed a clothing line and somewhere along the way, the lost little party girl became the girl on the wall of honor.”
