one of my favorite game series

I have so much love for this game!

I honestly see a lot of myself in Mae. I only wish I had her sense of humor! And Jack made this such a wonderful experience! I think I found my new favorite series and I’m looking forward rewatching it many times. If you see this, dude, thank you. <3

In any case, here’s the whole batch of edits in one post!

All stills from ‘Come Meet Me!’, gifs from, uh… multiple episodes of Night In The Woods.

@therealjacksepticeye This is amazing!!!! Congratulations on this great achievement! I feel so blessed to be a part of this community. It is so nice and full of such wonderful, genuine, creative and determined people. And with such a wonderful example as Sean I’m not surprised. Thank you for everything and here is to continued growth and most of all happiness and inspiration!

By the way here LOL this is a little animation and pic I drew to celebrate 15 Million. Totally LOVE animating in this art style! Night in the Woods is one of my favorite series of yours (along with almost every other story-based game you play) and watching you play all these wonderful games continues to inspire me to try and make a game of my own someday. Who knows…

Game Over

I can not express how excited I am that Outlast 2 is out. The original is what got me to subscribe to both Jack and Mark (albeit 3 years AFTER it was released) and is still my favorite series from both of them. Its such a good game.

Anyway,I wanted to try something different for this one. A lot darker and spookier than my usual drawings. Played around with the posing a bit more too. It was supposed to look like it was reflecting off a camera lens but I don’t know how well that actually comes across.

@therealjacksepticeye

What your fav loz game says about you
  • The Legend of Zelda: you haven't played any loz games since this one.
  • Zelda II: you own the entire legend of zelda animated series on vhs.
  • A Link to the Past: you're an elitist snob and/or you hate yourself.
  • Four Swords: you just want to be able to beat someone else up with multiplayer.
  • Link's Awakening: you fuckin love whales.
  • Ocarina of Time: good man. who doesn't like this game. your favorite band might be the beatles though.
  • Majora's Mask: your blog title is "welcome to my twisted mind"
  • Oracle of the Ages: you're a twin. your sibling got pokemon blue version.
  • Oracle of the Seasons: you're a twin. your sibling got pokemon red version.
  • Wind Waker: you are easily distracted by bright colors and pretty music so the endless sailing never bothered you. you want link's grandmother to adopt you.
  • Four Swords Adventure: you just want to be able to beat someone else up with multiplayer, but on the gamecube.
  • The Minish Cap: you thought it was adorable that you could become really really small and explore. You also have the hots for vaati.
  • Twilight Princess: you were that kid in elementary school who was way too obsessed with wolves. Possibly a furry.
  • Phantom Hourglass: you want to marry linebeck. I don't understand you. You also managed to get all the different boat designs somehow. How the fuck did you get all the parts for the golden ship. I hate you.
  • Spirit Tracks: you really liked that zelda was a kindof playable character. The overworld theme plays on repeat in your head at all times. Link is so cute as a conductor. Wow link is adorable
  • Skyward Sword: your wii controller actually worked so link's sword went where you swung it.
  • A Link Between Worlds: you were endlessly entertained by just fuckin slamming link into walls. You found every painting link could stand behind so it looked like he had a funny head. chicken link is your god.
  • Hyrule Warriors: you've never actually played a real zelda game.

You know… if the Game of Thrones leaks are indeed true and Jonerys does indeed happen, I just can’t wait to see Jason Momoa’s reaction…

This guy still continues watching the series and showing support to his on-screen wifey, his reactions are the best:

And this one is my favorite:

The “she hangs out with lesser men than me” kills me.

I just love Jason Momoa, he is the best.

Laura Kate: a let’s player who is actually good

in the wake of this whole mess regarding a Certain Youtuber fucking up yet again, i thought i’d make a recommendation post for one of my favorite let’s players who is completely underrated, laura kate / laurakbuzz!!

her channel is here, and she’s currently doing a playthrough of the legend of zelda: breath of the wild! here’s some facts about her:

  • she is charming and funny with great commentary
  • she’s a trans woman
  • she’s british
  • she’s got blue hair
  • she posts a new video of her current LP every day!

besides her zelda playthrough, laura has also done LPs of undertale, dark souls 3, life is strange, and many other popular games. she also has a series where she reviews video game butts

i highly recommend her and if you’re looking for a new let’s player to follow, you should go check her out!

Hi Jack! Are you planning on playing the Guardians of the Galaxy Telltale Series game when it comes out? The Batman Telltale series was one of my favorite series of yours that you've done, and I'd love to see you play the GotG one!

Recorded it today and it goes up tomorrow :)

The A-mew-sing Sequel To Adrien’s Game

This time, there are only four episodes covered but a lot of pictures so I’m adding a “read more”…eventually.  Also, Ladybug is on Netflix!  Go watch.  Here we go with the next four eps!

The last time we left our boy Adrien, he was developing his flirting technique with the lovely Marinette.  Or not.  It’s fun to speculate though, right?  Right?!

…ANYway, let’s see how he tops the almost kiss.

 In “Darkblade” (Le Chevalier Noir):

  • Marinette decides to run against Chloe for class something-or-other
  • To the utter delight of 95% of the class
  • That’s right man, just play it cool…
  • CASUAL FINGER GUNS and AMBIGUOUS SUPPORT!!!

In “The Mime” (Le Mime):

  • Hey, I didn’t know y’all were gonna be here too lol!
  • Smooth move, dude.  Just play it off like you had NO IDEA.

Our cat son heats things up below the cut!

Video Games Soundtracks I Like

People keep asking for the soundtracks I like or am inspired by so here are the ones I can remember. If it’s not on this list I either forgot it, haven’t played it, or it’s too obvious (mario/zelda).

If you’re a video game music enthusiast you might enjoy looking up soundtracks you haven’t heard of before.

This list isn’t complete. Not sure if I’ll update it though.

Something I like about the Souls series is the recurring characters or character archetypes and how each game handles each one differently. Solaire/Lucatiel/Anri, Lautrec/Creighton/Leonhard, Siegmeyer/Siegward, Patches/Pate, etc. But my favorite is also the simplest, and one of the first characters most players meet in each game.

In Demon’s Souls, this character debuts as the Crestfallen Warrior. Like the player character, the unnamed warrior had died and was brought to the Nexus as a spirit. He resents your host, the Monumental, for bringing him there, and offers basic guidance and background on characters and quests early in the game. The warrior is growing increasingly cynical and depressed as you speak with him, and when you give him news that his wife and daughter have been killed, he falls into despair, stops talking, and eventually fades away into nothingness.

This character archetype next appears in Dark Souls as the still-unnamed Crestfallen Knight. The knight, who like you is undead but has long since given up trying to fight his curse, informs you of what to do to progress in the early game and offers his opinions on other characters who have gathered in Firelink Shrine. As you bring more NPCs to Firelink, the knight starts to think the place is crowded and grows angrier at his own unsatisfactory situation. Finally he leaves, and when next you see him, in New Londo, the knight has given into his curse and become a ravening Hollow whom you are forced to kill.

In Dark Souls II, he becomes Crestfallen Saulden. Saulden tells you about Majula, the ramshackle community in which you find yourself, and points you toward the major bosses, but like past incarnations, he is sullen and is giving into despair. However, as new NPCs begin to populate Majula, Saulden starts to appreciate their company. In the end, he’s still depressed, but your actions inspire him to go on living. He is the only version of this character to survive.

Finally he becomes Hawkwood the Deserter in Dark Souls III. No longer crestfallen but still just as acrid, Hawkwood is a deserter from Farron’s Undead Legion who has taken up residence in this game’s Firelink Shrine. As before he drops hints about upcoming bosses and snarks about fellow Firelink Residents, but now he has an actual questline you can follow. A worshiper of dragons, Hawkwood requires your help on his pilgrimage to Archdragon Peak. Afterwards, he leaves a message for you to meet him in the Legion’s former base of operations. There, Hawkwood duels you for a dragon relic, and dies fighting for a cause he believes in.

What I love about this character(s) is how each game incrementally advances their development. He first gives into despair and fades into nothingness in Demon’s Souls, then loses his mind but retains his body in Dark Souls, finds a reason to live in Dark Souls II, and finally finds direction in life and dies with his mind intact in Dark Souls III. It’s a story of hope and redemption, and although it’s spread across four games and told through a background character, it’s one of the more uplifting stories in the whole Souls series.

Anonymous said:  redraw of your favorite ace attorney scene/moment?

I genuinely can’t draw one favorite ace attorney moment, because I have more than one (tbf, it’s hard not to have more than one when there are over six games in the series) — so I chose this, one of my favorite scenes!

( currently accepting prompts for: Ace Attorney, Skyrim and Dragon Age )

Okay… There’s been a bunch of Silent Hill stuff popping up on my dash and I just feel like flailing about something.

So even if you’re not super familiar with the series, if you’ve seen anything, you’ve seen this guy:

Pyramid Head.

He’s kind of the big boss of Silent Hill 2, and regardless of how much sense it does or doesn’t (mostly doesn’t) make, he appears throughout the rest of the series and the movies. He’s the biggest, baddest, and most overtly malevolent force in the whole of the Silent Hill universe.

Want to know how he’s first introduced?

Like this.

No cut scene.

No jumpscare.

No swell in the music that sounds like someone either tased the entire string section or pushed a percussion cabinet down the stairs.

You just sort of find him behind an unsettlingly out-of-place set of prison bars.

And he just stands there, impotently staring at you while your radio goes ballistic with static. You’ve never seen him before. You’re not even really sure what he is at this point… just this reddish shape at the edge of your flashlight beam.

This, my friends, is how you do subtle horror. You make the player do the work for you. Because trust me, at this point in the game (which is a few hours in) your imagination is on overdrive, along with your heart rate and blood pressure.

It remains one of my favorite things about this series. It wasn’t afraid of being oblique and subtle. The creators of Silent Hill understood that horror is probably one of the most voluntary of narrative experiences. You have to suspend the so much belief to get the full experience.

So they have to seduce you. This is a seduction through and through. A tease of ankle under the hem of a very long skirt. They make you want to see more, even as you’re already white-knuckling the controller.

“He couldn’t say he meant thanks for all of it…Hopefully Andrew would figure it out eventually.”

One of my favorite things about the TES series is the sort of overreaching theme of the player character being claimed by a daedra and I don’t mean the daedric side quests. You had Azura in Morrowind, Sheogorath in Oblivion and Hermaeus Mora in Skyrim.

I just love the idea of the protagonist making a name for themselves, accomplishing these near impossible quests and becoming extremely powerful, being named the hero of the land

and then some daedric prince basically goes

self care tips when you’re mentally ill

*brought to you by the wonderful @katherinee-wheel @oreocharm @superrr-nay and some lovely anons!*

  • remember it’s okay to not be okay
  • if you only have the spoons to wake up today and not to do much else, that’s okay. Tomorrow is another day.
  • eat or drink SOMETHING. It’s okay if it’s junk food or days old Chinese food or even a pack of oyster crackers and a cup of water. But please remember to put something into your body.
  • listen to music or watch videos in bed. It’s a low impact way to relax and unwind
  • put on my favorite classical or jazz record
  • daydream
  • play my fav video game (bioshock or spyro)
  • call my big sister or mom
  • say beep boop to myself quitely (I read it someplace, tried it, and it at least got me to smile a bit)
  • meditate and try to ‘feel’ everypart of my body
  • cuddle with my pooch
  • read my bible
  • read harry potter
  • read (Oh the places you will go)
  • sometimes bae will give me back messages and talk to me about randomly to get me out of my  mind
  • i usually love food, so i have a stash in my room in a drawer, so i might eat my fav snack
  • drink water or tea (depending on if i feel like making tea, bc i always have a water bottle in my room just in case i happen to choke on one of my snacks)
  • watch my fav youtubers (i like matthew santoro, markiplier, and threadbangers, just to name a few)
  • I’m a very rational and logical person, so in my mind, i know that ill be fine after a while but i just need to get through this one moment, so i make charts and graphs and i write down my thoughts as if i was having a conversation with another person, usually in two colors. On one side of the page will be my emotional side and on the other side will be my logical side, and by the time im done, i usually feel A LOT better; maybe not 100% but a lot better
  • also (last one i promise) i scream cry into my pillow, may sound weird… but it helps with any rage, anger, or frustration that you might have
  • a self care thing i like to do is send my datemate a long cute message because he gets so happy and it makes me feel a little bit better
  • Tips for self care : I listen to music. Go watch my dogs do whatever they’re doing. Watch a movie I like or TV series. Find new music. Go through Tumblr. Sleep
  • Self care tips: relocate. Even if it’s just from the bed to the couch. A change in scenery can help even a little bit
  • Put on my favorite movie or read my favorite book I guess is an obvious one but it really helps
  • My self care tips: - play a video game you’re good at / enjoy (important: give yourself the break and don’t feel guilty. feeling guilty won’t help) - listen to a podcast - take a nap - try to contact some friends and chat until you’re better
  • Make a list of all the things you love about yourself

it genuinely is

i love dark souls, it’s one of my favorite game series, but i hate the trend of indie devs being really difficult and badly designed and claiming it to be “inspired by dark souls!”

like, the whole appeal of dark souls is overcoming the difficulty by any means necessary. the game challenges you and you find new ways to get past the challenge. it’s hard but not impossible and anybody can do it if they get creative enough. dark souls is basically a big puzzle game, the puzzle being “how do i circumvent this difficult game design?”

the difficulty is part of the game’s atmosphere. it’s supposed to make the world feel dangerous and oppressive, so that when you make it past the danger you feel smart and capable. it’s about fostering a sense of accomplishment. one of the best trailers for Dark Souls has a compilation of players overcoming the game’s trials and the phrase “Prepare to Die” changing to phrases like “Prepare to Fight, Overcome, Struggle, Endure, LIVE”

but indie games co-opting dark souls whole schtick don’t understand that, they just think “hurrrhrhghghghghg chungo fungo funy hard game make me laugh” and fill their games with bullshit difficulty in order to artificially lengthen it

you aren’t supposed to finish a modern “indie roguelike” game, you’re supposed to die over and over again and keep playing the game indefinitely. they use the difficulty to make up for a lack of content. you can’t see that the game only has ten minutes worth of content if you can’t get past the first level after all!

dark souls games is designed to be finished. they have a shit-load of content, fun gameplay that makes you want to experience all of the content, and a challenging but fair difficulty that makes you feel accomplished when you overcome it.

that’s the difference.
