oncorhynchus nerka

oncorhynchus nerka

I painted this on Lake Aleknagik, after a long day of field work which involved mostly gaffing thousands of dead fish and clearing them off the creek so we could count them. After spending so much time with these impressive animals, I can see them hiding in the forms of mountains, impressive humps making up the jagged peaks that jutted straight up from the lake. That is what inspired this piece.
