Bloodborne, you guys. It’s a beautiful game. I beat up every werewolf with a cane that turns into a whip. I wanted to capture what I liked most about the game’s atmosphere: lots of looming and pointy gothic architecture, the feeling of knowing some kinda gross monster could lurk around any given corner - and, well, a lot of stuff is on fire all the time.
can we just talk about how much exposure doyoung is getting and the talent that sm sees in him? realistically speaking, he was one of the most underrated members of nct. he didn’t have many stans starting out despite his obvious talents and love and passion for the career he has chosen. many didn’t see doyoung as the most handsome of the team, or recognize his charms. he was often forgotten but now he’s taken up solo schedules by storm. he’s mced, he’s hosted, he’s been a guest multiple times. he’s stared in an ost, and soon will be in another song collab. when people were pushing him aside, sm picked him up and plopped him in the spotlight and he has stayed there, persevering with schedules on his own. his face, his voice, his entire self has been dangled out there alone for others to debate and to garner attention towards nct. for a boy who was born to shine on stage, he has shown us that he was made for much more than singing. for the first time i can proudly say that sm made the right choice, and it was a choice that i didn’t even think would be an option back in january.
Exploring Ethiopia with Photographer Eyerusalem Jiregna
This post is in celebration of Women’s History Month. Throughout March, we’ll be highlighting the stories of women doing extraordinary things around the world.
Born and raised in Ethiopia’s capital city, Addis Ababa, 23-year-old Eyerusalem Jiregna (@eyerusalem_a_jiregna) knows a thing or two about fast-paced environments. But she also hopes that her photographs might inspire people to pause and look — really look — at the visual wonders that could be waiting around any corner. “I know that people have busy lives,” Eyerusalem says, “but when we’re rushing everywhere, we’re not seeing what’s around us. I want people to appreciate what’s in front of them, and I hope that my pictures can help make that happen.”
While she finds photographing people rewarding, Eyerusalem does find herself photographing women and girls more often than men. “Motherhood in Ethiopia is so significant, and the women here work so hard,” she says. “I want to try to share their stories through my photographs.”
McHanzo Week 2016, Day 2 - Domestic Life I wanted to draw them painting each other the walls in their new house (does this count?)¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Tbh I don’t really like how it turned out but I still want to post something every day of The Week™, so here it goes, I guess
Marichat isn’t the only problem in the love square
Yeah, seriously. It’s not.
I consistently fail to understand why marichat specifically is the ship of the love square that always called out as portraying them as being out of character, as if these fanon traits don’t extend to any of the other corners. Frankly, I’m getting annoyed now at the comments I’ll see here and there throwing that ship under the bus, as if there isn’t a problem with Marinette and Adrien’s character portrayal in general all across the board.
People’s problem with Marichat is usually centered around two things, the first being is that it’s apparently over sexualized. I say ‘apparently’ because, with the exception of a few fics that are specifically meant to be smut, there’s barely anything to be found beyond some kissing action. The ‘sin’ title it has is either a joke or an exaggeration. People complain that they would be the friends dynamic and be teasing towards each other, and that there isn’t enough of that. Guess what? That is practically all there is when it comes to marichat. Those two being dorks and falling in love. Can the romance move fast? Yes, but usually those fics are short, or oneshots where there’s already an established dynamic bordering on romance. The longer fics tend to take time with it. You can take my word for it because guess what else, I actually read marichat fics. I find that a lot of the ones who call marichat out for having a bad fanon dynamic are also the ones who tend to not actually bother reading it.
The other problem people have with Marichat is that a lot people who support this side of the love square think that it’s the truest corner of it, and I agree 100% that this just isn’t accurate. Except, getting to my point made earlier, this problem is not a Marichat problem and we really need to stop pretending that only this ship has this dynamic.
It’s not even a ship dynamic problem. It comes down to mischaracterization.
Marinette is written as an insecure girl who thinks she’s unworthy of being Ladybug in nearly everything I have ever read. Seriously, the ‘I’m just plain, clumsy Marinette’ line should be a bingo piece because of how often it’s used. The interpretation of her is basically considered canon at this point and is particularly prevalent in reveal scenarios. Marinette will freak out at the reveal, thinking Chat won’t like her because she’s ‘not really Ladybug, just Marinette’.
Adrien iswritten as a boy who thinks he’s truly free and truly himself as Chat Noir, while everything else about him is fake, though it’s less common than Marinette’s mischaracterization. Then there’s the added insecurities that comes with Adrien being given an eating disorder he doesn’t actually have, and because it’s a wildly popular fanon theory, the self loathing in Adrien is usually very prevalent.
Because both characters are often written as wearing this metaphorical mask hiding the real deal, naturally every ship dynamic is going to reflect that. And they do. Ladynoir is not innocent of this, nor Ladrien, nor Adrienette. I’ve read it all, and I can say without a doubt that Marichat is not the only dynamic that likes to delve into these characters having massive insecurities and identity issues. Why fandom acts like it is, I have no idea. Because some big names of the fandom said so?
Also, Marichat is not the only ship to have it’s own particular brand of fanon.
Ladrien? Overly sexualized. Want to talk about OOC, explain to me why Ladybug is suddenly turned into a dominatrix when she and Adrien can barely say a sentence without blushing and getting very shy. I’m not saying this happens all the time, but it’s become a bit of a trope.
Ladynoir? Ladybug can be written as a real bitch to Chat a lot of the time in these fics. A bitch, or just standoffish and protective of herself. She’s shown none of this resistance in the actual show, but it’s a staple of Ladynoir fics to have Ladybug keep these walls up around herself. Rarely do I see this being called out.
Can 2017 be the year where we stop pretending Marichat is the only aspect of the love square with a wrong fanon dynamic? There is a ton of stuff in this fandom that has it’s issues, and we really need to start paying more attention to Adrien and Marinette’s character on a broader scale than just one side of the love square if we want to see better canon portrayals all around.
Working for Magnus isn’t easy. Magnus is out of control and Alec has to yell more often than not to get him to listen to him. He hates everything formal because it means he has to watch his mouth. Most importantly, Magnus is an incorrigible flirt.
Which would be alright if Alec wasn’t utterly, irremediably, unfathomably in love with him.
Based on this prompt: “AU where Magnus is an Oscar winning actor and Alec, his PA, is in love with him.”
Each sign has its own way of reaching achievements. Its own, individual pace of walking in the world, of overcoming their fears and insecurities.
Aries dares, throwing their head forward without caring about what awaits on the other side.
Taurus waits, takes precious time to weigh which key will open the right door, which will work at all.
Gemini shifts, peeking from any possible corner of the room, speaking and thinking every world.
Cancer feels, the pouring of time, the smell of love and beauty, using embraces as portals to others’ souls.
Leo asks, for the most small things to the greatest of them all, always leaving room for more.
Virgo reflects, with the eyes of their mind reading through rows of “maybes” and “what ifs”, in a life of careful planning.
Libra plays, accepts challenges of all sorts, picks dreams and portrays them as bats of butterfly wings.
Scorpio fluctuates, with great waves storming down into quiet puddles, the occurrence eternal.
Sagittarius enjoys, purely and deliberately setting their eyes and soul on anything bright, warm enough for their gaze.
Capricorn formulates, putting in clear schemes every move, preferring to simulate the board mentally before anything else.
Aquarius climbs, always feeling halfway from the mountain’s peak, the ground so far away they’re seeing only clouds.
Pisces aspires, to live the beginning and end of everything wonderful, to have their hopes answered.
When Yuri wakes before Otabek, it’s a treat. It’s also a frustration.
Yuri knows that when he wakes up his hair is a ball of tangles and it’s a bitch to try to brush that shit out. He won’t admit he’s keeping it because a certain someone sleeping so peacefully continuously reminds him that loves it. Yuri can’t possibly make sleep, or waking up, look good.
But Otabek barely looks ruffled. His hair falls perfectly across his face. He doesn’t have any sleep in the corners of his eyes. Yuri’s lips always feel chapped when he wakes up and Otabek’s lips look so…
Yuri leans in, bracing a hand against the pillow beside Otabek’s head, nearly hovering over him. When Otabek shifts, Yuri freezes.
“I can hear you breathing, Yura,” Otabek says, the deep rasp of his morning voice sounding stupidly attractive It makes a shiver run down Yuri’s spine.
“Sorry I have to fucking breathe to stay alive,” Yuri grumbles, pushing himself away.
Otabek’s eyes open, settling on Yuri for a moment before they squeeze shut with a yawn. The covers fall off his upper body and Yuri can see that his shirt has ridden up his stomach in his sleep. It only rides up further when Otabek reaches his arms over his head to stretch, exposing even more of the tight skin of his perfectly toned abdomen.
Yuri’s mouth goes dry. He knows he’s staring, but fuck it. He’s allowed to stare.
Otabek runs his fungers through his hair as he brings his arms back down. The hair falls perfect across his face, looking at though it were professionally styled, giving new meaning to “I woke up like this”. He looks so good with the morning glow lighting up his face that it makes Yuri’s body ache in ways it definitely shouldn’t so early in the morning.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” Yuri growls, glaring at Otabek. Otabek stares at him in return and cocks his head to the side. “Look at you! Just~~” Yuri gestures wildly to all of Otabek and sputters, “How fucking dare you!”
Otabek’s lips twitch. He slips a hand up the front of his shirt, rubbing his fingers across his stomach. It exposes even more skin that Yuri thinks his mind can handle seeing right now.
“Tch. “ Yuri scowls and flashes a single finger at Otabek. “Now you’re just doing it on purpose.”
