Olivia as an actual character whose actions are understandable, a character that you can actually relate too, that Olivia hasn’t been seen since season 2. Shonda changed this show completely because of her love for SF, the stupid useless Jake character, and B613. Fitz gets plenty of hate on this show and from some of this show’s fans.
But at least you can understand why he does the things he does. He’s relatable, he might be a lovesick fool who is always blinded by his unconditional and unwavering love for OP, but at least you understand why he does the things he does, even if you don’t agree with them. He actually owns up to his actions and doesn’t blame everyone for his mistakes unlike Mellie, who blames Fitz or anyone else for every damn thing!
And more than just Olitz fans hate Olivia’s character now, so stop trying to blame the hate of the OP character on Olitz fans or people who like Fitz. The destruction of Olivia Pope’s character came way before Olitz was even done for good. H er descent into the darkness has been going on since season 3.
And while other characters have gotten to develop and grow over the past five seasons, Olivia is still the same quivering mess she has been since season 3 when her father and Jake became more involved in her storyline. Olivia still has PTSD but it’s never mentioned. Olivia of season one and two was brilliant, she was feared. Her and her team could handle any scandal, her only weakness was her love of the married president. That fact made her relatable, because it showed that she wasn’t perfect.
Now we don’t know what the hell she’s about? Who is she? What is she doing? Why is she so power-hungry now, when she wanted nothing to do with power in season 1 and 2 when this show’s popularity and writing was at it’s all time highest? The writing doesn’t make any sense, not anymore. Now all of a sudden she wants her father’s approval more than anything, when in season four she tried to shoot him in the head?
She beat a man to death with a chair, but that was never heard about again. Her team at OPA haven’t solved any cases in almost all of season five, what is the point of OPA anymore? What is Scandal even about now? Olivia Pope is no longer a fixer, she’s the one that needs to be fixed, she’s the one that needs help. The show doesn’t make sense anymore.
