olive spread

Nothing makes my blood boil more than the morality police thrust upon Oliver Queen and Barry Allen that compares and judges them by different standards.

They’re different characters with different pasts and backgrounds and completely different personalities. One is like a serious older brother and mentor while the other is the fun younger one who keeps ribbing him. Their relationship in the universe has always been promoted that way.

So why the hell do people constantly compare them? THEY ARE NOT IN THE SAME RACE. Hell, they’re not even in the same field. You may like one and not like the other (and that’s totally okay) but don’t measure them with the same yardstick.

That’s an insult to both their characters and their stories, not just one.

Cast Iron Blessing/Cleansing Bread

I shared pics of my grandma’s blessing bread last year during the Autumn Equinox and meant to publish the recipe too…just procrastinated awhile.

So.

Here it is!

It’s a super simple no-hand knead bread!

In my family Pagan tradition growing up, the term “blessing” was interchangeable with “cleansing” and that’s the purpose of this bread- it’s meant to bless/cleanse yourself before a ritual or when you think you’re hanging onto too much negative energy!
Think a deeper purification than a bath- since you’re gonna eat it!

Important magical aspects of this recipe:
-The cast iron skillet itself: iron is good for warding off negative energy and entities. You could make this bread in the oven instead, but keep in mind it’ll be a little less potent (but I understand not everyone has a cast iron skillet large/deep enough for a round of bread!)
-rosemary: a classic herb in witchcraft for purification and cleansing.
-garlic: for protection (and flavor- my grandma fucking loved garlic in pretty much everything)
-sea salt: also for purification and cleansing

The bread itself is meant to be pretty basic because my grandmother thought that would promote the cleansing ability of the three correspondences, but do feel free to slather it in butter or toast some cheese on slices if you like that!

Ingredients:
-1 package dry yeast (I used those easy quick-rise packets because I don’t make bread constantly enough to have a bunch of yeast on hand)
-2 cups warm water (test with the inside of your wrist- if it’s too hot or cold for you, it’s too hot for your yeast! Yeast is a precious baby and must be treated gently!)
-1 tsp sugar (also known as “yeast-food”!)
-½ tbsp kosher salt
-4⅓ cups flour
-¼-½ tsp garlic salt
-dried rosemary (topping)
-sea salt (topping)

Directions:
1.) In a standup mixer (or in a large bowl), combine the packet of yeast, warm water, and bit o’ sugar. Let that yeast hang out in that bath for a bit and eat that yummy sugar until it starts foaming. This is happy yeast. Happy yeast makes happy bread.
2.) In a large bowl, sift together the salt and flour. Now add it to the yeasty water little bits at a time. You can use a dough hook attachment on your mixer or just a tough spoon (wooden is my fav). Be careful to add that flour slowly!

3.) After it’s all combined, cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise for about an hour. You can slip it into a larger bowl of warm water to help it rise if your kitchen is a bit chilly!
4.) Grease the skillet and gently put that delicate dough into it, shaping it to fit (you can use two or three skillets/batches if needed). Cover and let rise for another 30-ish minutes.
5.) Spread some olive oil over the top of the dough and sprinkle with the garlic salt, dried rosemary, and some sea salt if desired (you can skip this if you’re trying to go lower sodium, there’s plenty of salt in the bread and garlic salt to get the benefits!).

6.) Bake at 400 degree oven, in the skillet, for 16-18 minutes or until the top is a golden brown color. I let mine cool in the oven as well (i.e. turn the oven off and leave the skillet in until it’s cool enough to remove without an oven mitt).
7.) Enjoy! Visualize that cleansing energy as you eat it! It’s great for pre or post rituals and offerings!

The Sex Sandwich

Okay so that title might not be precisely right for everyone, but that’s what it means to me so ANYWAY HERE WE GO.

This is a recipe for grilled cheese in honor of National Grilled Cheese Day! I know, I know: we all know how to make grilled cheese, or at least how to look it up, but my grilled cheese has gotten me laid before. I’m not even joking. So I figured I’d share my recipe/technique!

Ingredients:
- 2 slices white bread
- extra virgin olive oil
- your cheese of choice. I go with sharp or extra sharp cheddar because I like my cheese strong.

Instructions:
Heat a frying pan to a medium-low heat. You don’t want it too hot because then the bread will burn before the cheese can melt. While the pan is heating up, take the olive oil and spread it on one side of each bread slice. Place one slice in the pan, oil side down. Put the cheese on the bread and cover with the other slice, oil side up. Let the cheese melt just enough to keep the bottom slice from slipping when you flip it. The bread should be toasted to a golden brown color. Cook the other side to the same color and remove from heat.

Let cool for ~30 seconds, and eat!

Magical attributes to this sandwich can be anything you wish! You can draw sigils in the olive oil before you cook it, use the cheese as a binding agent to cement things you wish to come to pass, or do what I do and use the heat of the cooking to heat up your relationship with someone ;D

Happy cooking!

and just like that, the first week of school is over. can’t wait to start anthropology in a few days! (side note: HTGAWM is amazing!! any hardcore coliver shippers here?)

      1. Cook the bacon and set it aside on a paper towel to drain (I used turkey bacon and blasted it in the microwave for about 3 minutes).
      2. Butter one side of each slice of bread. Then, sprinkle half of the cheese onto the unbuttered side of one slice of bread followed by the guacamole and bacon. Top with the remaining cheese and place the remaining slice of bread on top with the buttered side up.
      3. Grill over medium heat until the edges of the sandwich are golden brown and the cheese has melted (about 2-3 minutes per side).

      36 - Flintwood 😍❤️

      My Writing

      Prompt List

Oliver stood, practically unable to move, as he watched Marcus flirt mercilessly with Adrian Pucey.

He saw the smirk, the same one that he had when he talked to Oliver, spread across Marcus’s face. He watched the way his eyes trailed up and down Adrian’s body. He noted that Marcus kept leaning closer and closer to him, so close that at that point, he was practically whispering in Adrian’s ear. Merlin knows what he was saying.

It was when Marcus brushed his thumb across Adrian’s cheek, the thing that Marcus did that Oliver loved the most, that Oliver forced his feet to move and carry him back to the Gryffindor dorms.

Oliver laid down in his bed and stayed there all day. All he could think about was how stupid he was for allowing Flint to lead him on. He was so happy about how things were going with them, but it was obviously all just a joke to Marcus.

The next morning, Oliver woke up and immediately dreaded the day ahead of him. They had classes with the Slytherins all day.

He avoided talking to Marcus all morning. During his free period, Oliver headed down to the quidditch pitch because that was where he liked to go to be alone and think. Of course, though, he was only alone for a few minutes until none other than Marcus Flint waltzed over.

“Hey Ollie,” he said and went to stand in front of where Oliver was sitting. “What’s up with you? It’s like you’re avoiding me.”

“I am,” Oliver grumbled and refused to meet Marcus’s eyes.

“And why’s that?” Marcus asked, genuinely confused.

Oliver finally looked at him and set his face into a hard glare.

“I saw you with Adrian yesterday. I thought you were serious about us, Flint.”

Marcus opened and closed his mouth several times, unsure of what to say. This annoyed Oliver, who clenched his jaw and stood up so he and Marcus were nearly chest-to-chest.

      “Ollie, I-”

Oliver shoved Marcus, cutting him off.

      “Don’t call me that!”

“I’m sorry, just let me explain.”

“Okay, go ahead. Please explain, Marcus. Enlighten me, I’m dying to hear how you’re going to try to get your way out of this one.”

“I am serious about us, Oliver. I just…I don’t know why I was flirting with him, really. I don’t have an excuse to offer. But in my defense, we’re not technically dating.”

      Oliver chuckled cynically.

“Yeah, you’re right. We’re not. We’ve just had this ‘thing’ going on for about four months now. Is that why you never wanted to make it official? So you can go around and fuck whoever-”

“I didn’t fuck him, Oliver! I wouldn’t do that to you. Please, you have to believe me. Please just give me another chance. I won’t mess it up this time.”

Oliver sighed. He was tired of fighting, Marcus had exhausted his energy. He knew he didn’t want to end things with Marcus. He knew he loved Marcus, but he knew after this he might not be able to trust him.

“I-I don’t know. I need time to think,” Oliver mumbled.

“Yeah, of course. Take your time. Just…let me know when you decide.”

Oliver just nodded and turned around to head back up to the castle.

“Ollie,” Marcus called, causing Oliver to stop but not turn around to look at him. “I do love you. All those times I said it in the past four months, I meant it. Just remember that.”

With that in mind, Oliver made his way back to the castle, completely unsure of what he was going to do.

“I think that’s our cue…” Thea whispered and made a step closer to the exit.

“Yeah,” Diggle nodded in agreement and headed toward the elevator.

As soon as the door closed behind them, Felicity turned her angry gaze at Oliver who was sitting in her chair. “Well?! What the hell were you thinking, Oliver?! You can’t go out without backup, I thought I made that pretty clear the last time!”
