To insist that his name is anything different is removing his choice to present himself as the person that he wishes to present himself as, to remove his labels and force other labels on him, and to remove his agency.
The Doctor is The Doctor.
He doesn’t have this ‘secret name’ thing like Moffat likes to insist he does.
His name is The Doctor.
'The Doctor’ is the only correct answer to that.
'Doctor who?’ is not the oldest question in the universe, it’s not even a legitimate question.
And the answer to that question is public knowledge, as well. Everybody knows his name.
The name you are given upon birth does not define who you are.
It’s the name you choose that defines who you are, the identity you choose that defines who you are.
The Doctor’s name is 'The Doctor.’
His legacy is in that name.
He identifies to that name.
Let’s hope we don’t go back to that plot point that his name is anything other than that again.
Do you guys really want to know who the new Doctor is?
Maybe it’s just me, but I think it would be cool to be surprised. It would give us all even more reasons to obsess over “the first question, the oldest question in the universe, hidden in plain sight.”
Impossible Astronaut Day or See The Silence Day is today! Don’t be afraid to freak people out with tally marks!
“Silence will fall when the question is asked. The oldest question in the Universe. Hidden in plain sight. Doctor Who?”
