old-school-video-games

Cisco and Barry co-run a YouTube gaming channel. The channel is titled The Meta Gaming BOIS. Cisco has a series where he hacks first person shooters and Barry has a series of speedruns of old school video games. The two of them also do a Minecraft Let’s Play series together, which began in back 2014. In addition, you can always hear Iris and Caitlin giggling and mimicking what Barry and Cisco are doing in the background.

Prompt: #16 with Shiro comforting pidge after a mission that scared/upset her. Gen

It’s the 1000 Followers Special!  Based on these prompts.  Prompts are now closed.  Don’t want to see all 35 of these?  Block ‘1000 Followers Special’.  Can’t read on mobile?  These will slowly be posted to AO3 starting in a few days as ‘Hold Up Half the Sky’.  A huge thank you to Xagrok for the beta’ing!

It was the sounds that caught Shiro’s attention.

Peering down the other hall, Shiro frowned.  At this time of night, there shouldn’t have been anything that cause strange noises like that.  From the rec room, Shiro could see just a sliver of light on the bottom, flashing and changing colors rapidly.

Something on TV, then.  Shiro sighed and made his way down that way.  Hopefully, Lance and Hunk hadn’t gotten distracted during one of their movie marathons again.  Neither of them had kept track of the time, and so when Shiro walked in on them at 4 AM, they’d been stunned. And the next morning, they’d both been utter wrecks.

As he moved closer, Shiro realized the odd noises were old school video game sound effects.  When he tapped on the console, the door swung open quietly, and Shiro could see the tops of a couple curls poking over the top.

Pidge, then.

Leaning over the back of the couch, Shiro tapped on the top of her head.  He hadn’t thought he was being particularly stealthy, but the noise of the game must have covered his footsteps, because Pidge jolted and tried to throw the controller in sheer reflex.  It was yanked to a stop from the cord to the console, and instead it fell right back down into the couch.

“Good reaction time, but I’d prefer to see it in the morning,” Shiro joked, lips curled up.

Then he finally met Pidge’s eyes, and saw how red rimmed they were.

Oh, no.

From a thread on one of the best games, Ecco the Dolphin:

“I see that everyone here has missed a large chunk of the story in Tides of Time, there is a reason why Ecco the Dolphin uses the Time Machine at the end of the game, and there is evidence in the game to support it.

"To put it simply Ecco uses the Time Machine in Atlantis to go back in time, to try and stop the whole thing from happening. It obviously doesn’t work but there are a few things that make sense.

"After you defeat the Vortex Queen in Tides of Time, she reverts to her blue larvae state and escapes back to Atlantis, hoping to use the time machine to escape back in time and try again, but does anyone remember what happens when you finally get through fish city and arrive at Atlantis, There is more than one Vortex Queen Larvae, there are many of them, many, many larvaes. Every single one of those larvaes counts for another time that Ecco has done the same thing, (go through the entire timeline keeping her from eating his pods,) that’s right, Ecco is stuck in a time loop, doing the same thing over and over, thats why his name is Ecco, he is an ecco of time, a thing that repeats over and over across the ages,

"It’s also true because of such things as the Asterite knowing who Ecco is before he meets him, also makes up for why Ecco goes back in time and steals the globe from him in the first game, the 3rd game sure could have been a prequel but Ecco would have never destroyed the time machine, as the game ended with him going back in time.”

Directly follows “Deadly Sweet.”   This one did not come out as smoothly, so I’m hoping the edits made it better.

“Goodnight Maman, Papa,” Marinette called as she headed toward her room.

“Going to visit Chat?” her mother asked, knowingly.

Once her parents got to know the superhero, the teasing had changed, rather than letting up, and she hadn’t even told them about… whatever it was between them.  "I’m not sure,“ she replied, trying not to let any further hints by.  "I think he had something until after eight, so it depends on how tired he is.”

“If he stops by, see if you can pin down a game night,” her father asked.  "I dug out some of the old classic games we talked about last time, and I think he’d like them.“

Marinette nodded.  "I’ll ask him when I see him.”

“Great,” her father said.  "Gotta get to know the future son-in-law somehow.“

"What!?”  Marinette froze on the fourth step, turning to stare.

“Honey,” her mother said, gently chastising.  "I told you she’s not ready to hear that yet.“  She patted his shoulder.

He smiled up at Marinette.  "Sorry Cupcake.  Just pretend I didn’t say that.”  He turned back to his wife, lowering his voice, but not quite enough.  "But we can talk about it, right?“

"You’d better believe it.”  Her mother winked and they wandered toward their room, each with one arm around the other.
