Mark Jimmerson died in Oklahoma County Jail — one day after his mom tried to save his life

  • Davey Mark Jimmerson did what many young adults might do in a moment of medical crisis: He called his mom. He’d been asthmatic for nearly his entire life, and his mother had plenty of practice tending to the various needs of her nine children.
  • Tonya Wilson, Jimmerson’s mother, had been there every step of the way for her jailed son as his criminal case worked its way through the system in Oklahoma City.

  • He had been arrested in February 2016 on felony charges that included robbery with a dangerous weapon. In the scheme of things, an asthma attack was something Wilson could easily handle herself. Read more. (3/30/2017 12:05 PM)

In honor of Black History & Women’s History Month in 2014, I co-produced my first short film ‘Black Like Her’ with the incredible Constance Strickland (@theatreroscius ) who also wrote and performed in the piece. -

The film explores the traumas of black womanhood through images, music, and movement, but specifically, how we remember & how we cannot forget – The 1911 lynching of Laura Nelson, as she was abducted from her jail cell, raped, and along with her son, lynched by a mob in Okfuskee County, Oklahoma lives through us. Her resistance lives through us. Her pain, lives through us.
This film was the first within our triptych that began in 2014. Link to the entire story and film is in my bio.

Ok, here's something that drives me crazy but I've never seen it addressed and I wonder if I missed something. The Holmes parents live in Oklahoma... But Sherlock and John take a helicopter to Appledore. Is Appledore in the US? Are they at their parents' winter home in the UK? IS IT ALL IN SHERLOCK'S HEAD?? But really, any explanation you offer would be appreciated. Cheers!

Hey Nonny!

Ah, I believe this is just a minor confusion and misunderstanding of the script. I did a quick search of the transcript for the word “OKLAHOMA” and they’re talking about Oklahoma in ENGLAND, apparently, because who the hell wants to go to OK in the States, LOL (THEIR WORDS, NOT MINE!!). It must be pretty remote, though, because I can’t find anything on google about it to confirm.

Otherwise, I would assume they went to OK for holidays.

Some confirmation from anyone in the UK would be awesome! <3

Newsies in College (Hometown Location Edition)

Specs and Romeo are from some tiny town in the Oklahoma.

Jack lives in Florida and hates it.

Crutchie is from Cornville, Arizona (I swear this is a real town look it up).

Spot is still from Brooklyn.

Race is still from Manhattan.

Blink is actually from Santa Fe and never stops trying to get Jack to believe it’s not as great as he thinks.

Mush is from Connecticut.

The Jacobs siblings live in Canada, just over the border (everybody is surprised at how aggressive Sarah can be since Davey is a living Canadian stereotype {apologizes constantly, uses “eh” un-ironically, soooo extremely passive-aggressive}).

Katherine is from the rich end of Boston (she’s and avid Red Sox/Patriots fan and that’s the main source of conflict between her and Race, who loves the Yankees/Giants. He always tries to drag Spot into it but Spot couldn’t care less.).

Buttons is from the middle of nowhere in Idaho.

Itey is a Spanish exchange student who’s English is good but sometimes his slang is off and it’s hilarious.

Skittery is from Seattle and hates people who say Seattle is gross because of all the rain.

Finch is from Minnesota, and boy can you tell as soon as he opens his mouth (bayg, tayg, pop not soda, it’s bad).
