“He’s a good man, that boy."

You turn away from pouring yourself a drink to face your grandmother, who is smiling at you. "Thor?” you ask. She nods, and you smile softly to yourself. “Yeah, he is."

"He’s telling your great grand-father quite some stories.” She winks at you. “I just hope they’re all true."

You laugh. "Well considering we met when he was pulling me out of a pile of rubble, they probably are.” Your grandmother pats your shoulder gently and moves away to talk to your cousin. You watch her briefly before moving to the doorway leading to the living room.

Thor sits on the couch with your great-grandfather seated next to him and your father in the arm chair diagonal of him. He’s waving his arms somewhat wildly as he tells one of his wild stories-probably one from another one of the nine worlds by the way he seems to be speaking. You smile and turn away to go join your sister, not wanting to interrupt the moment.

As nervous as you were to bring an alien home to meet your family, you could not be happier.

okay but

I don’t Discourse, but I get so angry when people dismiss asexual’s people’s problems as something like “Boohoo, you don’t want to fuck, no one gives a shit”.

But it’s so much more than that. Obviously it’s not homophobia, never was and never will be. It doesn’t even compare, it’s not the same thing at all.

But there are issues asexual people face like - there is pressure, part of it from society, and a lot of it come for ourselves. And that kind of self-hate and self-loathing and thinking you’re broken and unloveable, developping unhealthy sexual behaviour and self-harm - it’s a thing, it’s definitely a thing, not something 14-year-old kids on tumblr made up for attention. It can really mess you up, mess your relationships up, and people are so afraid to talk about it - I read words of older people - and I don’t mean people my age, I mean people in their 50s, their 60s - probably they don’t even know asexuality is even a thing, they got married and had kids and always felt wrong, because they hate sex and they never wanted it and never felt comfortable around it but they did it, quietly, never said a fucking word, and hated themselves a bit more every single time because they never understood why they felt they were missing what they were always told was supposed to be a fundamental part of themselves. They spent their entire life thinking they were broken.

and. it’s not homophobia, it’s not bigotry from an entire society keeping you from jobs and housing, etc. there’s no stats or anything. And maybe a lot of non-asexual people relate to this self-loathing, too. Things are never completely clear cut - there is always some overlapping. It doesn’t make it any less important. It’s still a thing that most asexual people go through, at least for part of their life, and it can really, really mess someone up. And there’s no need to get into discourse or into any (useless and frankly asinine) comparisons - it just needs to be taken seriously for what it is, because people’s health and happiness are what’s at play and it matters, too.

He hadn’t meant this to happen.

Thomas stays in his study the entire afternoon. James had left after a long discussion over their options for Nassau.

Thomas rubs at his temples, unable to stop thinking about it, about James. At one point James had been gesturing and his hair had come loose from its tie, drifting freely over his forehead.

“Beg pardon, my lord.” James looks around for the tie, swearing under his breath.

As much as he would have liked to watch the lieutenant crawl around on his knees on the carpet (because he is attractive, Thomas has accepted that fact) but with his hair falling over his face and the way the lieutenant keeps swiping it back impatiently with his fingers, Thomas is finding it very hard to concentrate on the topic at hand.

hey seo! i hope you don't mind answering this, but its been bothering me since it happened. so ive been learning korean for around a year now, and both my teacher and I prefer it when i talk to her in korean so i can practice and keep getting better. however, the other day, i was talking to my teacher on the phone in korean (as usual) while on the train. after we hung up, i noticed a couple next to me looking at me strangely, almost judging me. they asked: 한국 사람이야? just like that, using 반말 [1/2]

so i said 아니에요, 저는- and they didn’t even give me a chance to reply before they started telling me angrily in eng that i shouldnt pretend to be korean and that it was obvious that i wasnt. they told me i was “accessorizing” korean culture, altho all i did was talk to my korean teacher. i rly appreciate your language & culture, but im wondering if i should keep learning korean and if i should start speaking eng w my teacher to avoid this. im sorry if i offended u, i really am. thank you :) [2/2]

idk, it seems fine to me? i suppose those koreans might have automatically assumed that you’re some sort of koreaboo bc of all the koreaboos out there?? i mean, tbh i’m wary of koreaboos as well. but as long as you’re not fetishizing / accessorizing korean culture and language, i think it’s fine.

do keep in mind: one korean person is not the absolute determiner of what you should and should not do. the reactions of the people on the train are not automatic reactions from every korean person. just be aware of what you do, and make sure that you’re being respectful.

with how that deadspy person proudly calls themselves the "original houis", i'm not sure anyone would like to read their fic.

You do you love. But in my opinion, I was upset when antis decided to boycott Larries fics because wtf we are not 8yo children, what’s the point?? So I’m not going to do exactly the same to them or to any person I’m not very fond of.
I mean, i actually am able to read fics from someone that I know is totally a Louie/Freddie. Doesn’t mean I’m gonna follow them on tumblr.
This particular fic was a WIP for a very long time and it killed me not to have a new chapter for months. No way I’m not gonna read the end.
Now, THAT being said, if this person is absolutely awful and hateful against Larries, I’ll see what I’ll do, and probably not going to rec it. That’s all. (Last time I checked on them, and it wasn’t long time ago because someone actually asked me about this fic like 2 weeks ago, they were Harrie/Houie. Just THAT. Not hateful or anything)

But like I said, this is me , my opinion, and you do as you want, No worries .

happy birthday to my special boy !!!!
