A thirst for whiskey and gold (4)

MASTERLIST

Pairing: Lance Tucker x photographer!plus size!reader

Warnings: Mentions of adoption.

Word count: 6k

Summary: Soulmate AU where people see their whole life flash by before their eyes when they first kiss their soulmate. After Y/N receives word of her husband James’ death, she moves to Ohio where her best friend Karen has just given birth to a baby girl, hoping to find some piece of mind. Karen has asked Y/N to be the godmother and it just so happens Lance is the godfather to this little bundle of joy. One night, Lance gets drunk with some of his friends and they play ‘truth or dare’ which leads to an unexpected discovery.

This is written for @whotheeffisbucky her writing challenge. I know this is terribly late (life got in the way) but I poured a lot of love and soul into this, so I hope it makes up for my tardiness.

fun fact: the infamous hell is real sign is about halfway between where I go to college and my moms house, so it’s become common practice to text her an out of context “hell is real” message to let her know I’m getting close when I visit

And if that’s not the best summary of Ohio I don’t know what is

Certain Women (2016)

Directed by Kelly Reichardt

Cinematography by Christopher Blauvelt

My English professor believes in TJLC

So I was given an English assignment by my 43 year-old white male professor where I have to write 4-5 pages looking at a text or cultural artifact through a psychoanalytic, feminist, or Marxist lens.

So obviously I’m going to psychoanalyze Sherlock.

I was talking to my professor about how to organize my thoughts, because the passage in our textbook describing psychoanalytic criticism is CHOC-FULL of stuff that I immediately connected to instances in Sherlock. Like, every sentence in that god damn book reminded me of something from the show.

So anyways, I was asking him how to organize all of my Sherlock thoughts, and he helped me do it.

GUYS. AND THEN.

He gave me an example of how one might view Sherlock’s and Moriarty’s relationship as having Oedipal undertones. I hadn’t even mentioned Moriarty.

MY ENGLISH PROFESSOR HAS FUCKIGN SEEN SHERLOCK.

It gets better.

THEN HE TOLD ME ABOUT A GIRL HE HAD IN CLASS A FEW YEARS AGO WHO WROTE A PAPER ABOUT HOMOEROTICISM AND QUEERBAITING IN SHERLOCK.

I WAS LIKE WHERE DIS BITCH AT NOW? CAN I MARRY HER? Tbh I’m probably already following you? Did/do any of you go to Ohio Wesleyan University?

BUT THAT’S NOT EVEN THE BEST PART.

He said he was very convinced. HE SAID HE WAS VERY CONVINCED. HE SAID THAT THE EVIDENCE OF HOMOEROTICISM AND QUEERBAITING IN SHERLOCK WAS CONVINCING AND VERY COMPELLING.

My 43 year-old white male English professor believes in TJLC.

I’m floored.

___

(The book that gave me all the wonderful ideas to write about Sherlock is called Critical Theory Today by Lois Tyson if you were wondering).
