Regarding Dean

The screen lights up on your phone, Sam Winchester’s name flashing on the screen. This can’t be good, otherwise Sam would never, ever call you. Not after everything that happened. Should you answer? You don’t really want to dredge all that shit up. But if he’s calling, it’s important. You’re thumb hovers over the green button. It’s on the third ring before you decide to answer.

“Hello?”

“(Y/N)? It’s me, Sam. Please, don’t hang up, just hear me out.”

“I’m listening.”

“Thank…thank you. Listen, I wouldn’t be calling if I didn’t need help, you know that I wouldn’t. But I need you.”

———–

You can’t figure out how Sam knows you’re in the area. You haven’t had contact with Dean or Sam for over year. Is he still keeping tabs on you through the hunter network?  It’s touching in a way, you’ve always had a soft spot for Sammy. Truth is, you miss him.

Why the fuck are you driving to the motel right now? Why would you willingly put yourself in this position? Must be temporary insanity. It’s the only logical explanation. Maybe you should drive straight to the psych ward and check yourself in after this is over.

Give Me Polyamorous Power Couple Hamliza Or Give Me Death

~Eliza growing up having constant crushes on both men and women and trying to articulate what she wanted to Angelica but never being able to explain it the way she wanted

~When she’s in a relationship: “I want her” “But you’re dating Peter” “I want him too” “But you have to choose” “Why do I have to choose?” When she’s not in a relationship: “Ooh, Liza’s got a crush! Spill it!” “Well, there’s Arthur and his girlfriend, and Sally and her girlfriend, and Jason, and Mary…” “Whoa whoa whoa, slow down, how many crushes can you have?” “Shush, I’m not done”

~When she meets Alexander and quickly falls into her most serious relationship ever she expects the multiple crush thing to stop (Spoiler alert: it doesn’t)

~Eliza feels like a horrible girlfriend because she’s so happy with Alex but then Susan from work will start up a conversation with her in the break room and she’s instantly all heart eyes

~Tearfully she admits it to Alex one night and he’s thrilled because “no there’s nothing wrong with you I promise!!!! You’re just polyamorous!!!!”

~They spend the rest of the night talking about it

~Eliza needs some time to adjust since she’s spent so much time trying to push it aside that she doesn’t really know what else to do but Alex is very helpful

~The first time she tells him about Susan he’s instantly chanting ask her out over and over until she’s laughing and blushing at his antics

~Half a year later and Eliza is subtly sending Alex updates from her dates while he sends her multiple thumbs up emojis and does the same with his own

~She also sets up him and Angelica and when Angelica gets confused about it she’s like you need to stop sacrificing yourself, let yourself be happy

~They share embarrassing stories about him with each other

~He meets John and them after Eliza in this one and it’s all separately

~Hercules comes first because Eliza’s father invited them to a fancy dinner party and Alex needs a suit and since he’s not well educated on these things yet she comes along to help

~Hercules is instantly smitten with Alex and Alex is instantly 😍 because “Eliza look at him!!! He looks like a damn quarterback but he’s so sweet and gentle!!!!” “Either you ask him out or I will”

~Hercules not-so-subtly likes guiding Alex around even though he thinks he’s being smooth

~“Alex there was really no point for him to put his hands on your waist like that, he could’ve told you to just move to the side one step” “… Yeah but did you see how well they fit there he could probably lift me up so easily” “Wow you’re so easy” “Do I need to bring up that cute barista the other day” “pLEASE DO WE HAVE A DATE THIS WEEKEND”

~By the end of the time there Alex is going out to lunch with a pleased but confused Hercules and Eliza is eagerly awaiting every cute picture and text

~From then on he has to deal with both Eliza and Alex stealing his clothes but he can’t really fight since they both look so cute in his sweaters

~The rest come really quickly after that

~Lafayette meets Hercules before the others because they come in requesting a special dress to be made and Hercules is Gone

~“You… You want a dress with a full skirt… But when you pick at a stitch on it the dress falls down into a ball gown?” “Yes, exactly!” “Can I ask why?” “Why? Well, chéri, it’s because I must ensure that I always am prepared for any eventuality and at the top of that list is a need to always look beautiful but entirely unattainable. Oh, that reminds me! It needs to be floor length with my being in eight-inch heels, I have a pair with me so you can measure accurately” “Oh holy shit”

~It takes them exactly one weekend to be brought into the relationship (Alex sees them and instantly is stunned into silence, Eliza flirts and within two minutes they’re already co-conspirators)

~John is next and he struggles with his sexuality and anything that comes from it so he’s very much in the closet when they meet

~John and Alex immediately are best friends and Alex tries asking him out but John very quickly refuses him and Alex takes a step back

~The combined power of the four of them helps to bring John out of his shell even though he’s very shy about it all so they’re respectful and let him suggest everything and move their relationship forward in his own time

~The first time he asks to spend the night with all of them there’s a little fight over who gets to sleep next to him

~Eliza and Hercules win, Lafayette and Alex pout

~Aaron and Theodosia Burr AKA Theo, Eliza, and Lafayette kill and the rest of them are literally powerless against them

~Dates are really fun with them because now there’s enough people to go on group dates and everyone can have a supposed other instead of it being just the mess of them (They still do it as the whole of them, its just more fun to have the people think they’re all separate couples then watch as they get more affectionate as the night goes on)

~Don’t think I’ve forgotten about the Washingtons

~George favors Alex and Laf, Martha favors Eliza, Angelica, and Theo, George is platonic with John, Hercules, Aaron, and the girls, Martha is platonic with everyone but her girls and sometimes Alex and Lafayette (She likes showing off that she’s perfectly capable of stealing them away from him but is graciously letting them stay with him. George jokes back and tries to rally Laf and Alex to joke too but they need time to come back to that plane of existence)

~WEEKEND TRIPS AT MOUNT VERNON WITH EVERYONE

~Eliza and Alex get so many kisses and cuddles since they’re the heart of it all

~Alex dragging everyone outside to look at the stars

~Lots of hot chocolate when Alex drags them outside

~Lots of spiked hot chocolate when they think Martha isn’t looking

~She totally knows since John keeps giggling but she let’s them have fun

~THOMAS JEFFERSON

~Eliza starts flirting with him to bug Alex

~Eventually she starts flirting with him for Alex no matter what he says

~“Look at the tension good god” “Betsey I swear…”

~Eliza has a near constant stream of frustrated texts from George

~“Eliza I’m suffering” “What is it this time, dear?” “They’re arguing again and they look two seconds away from making out” “I’m working on it. Have patience” “I can’t have patience anymore I can’t have meetings because this happens in every one”

~All the hate sex

~All the Jeffmads+Alex hate sex (I would include Aaron but the frustrations are over Washington but Aaron knows why Alex is favored by him and has worked out his own balance with George so he’s not jealous)

~Alex pulls them into the dynamic and they finally understand

~George doesn’t mind them finding out, he’s just glad the tension is gone (Though he has cut more than a few work days short because he walked in on them fucking on his desk because Alex wanted to tease him and he can’t handle that so he just walks out)

~There’s multiple incidents where they try to tease Angelica but she is Not Having It and takes great joy in showing them why

~Angelica Schuyler is my queen she wouldn’t handle any bullshit from them

~MARIA REYNOLDS PROTECTION SQUAD

~Elizabeth “If you touch one hair on my girl’s head I will personally kick your ass from here to California don’t test me” Schuyler

~Obviously she moves in with them immediately and spends every night sleeping between Alex and Eliza

~When things become too much in the city Eliza and her take a trip down to Mount Vernon for a girls-only retreat

~Maria and John never start a romantic relationship but they hit it off very quickly since they’re both abuse survivors (Her with James, him with his father) and John is more healed than she is but there’s wounds he’s still licking and sometimes its nice to just spend the day in silence with someone who understands that company is more important than conversation

~Eliza and Alex creating a crazy huge family for themselves which has confusing interconnecting romantic and platonic relationships but they love it so much they can’t describe it

~Whenever anyone asks about it Alex shows them the graph he’s made for them all

~Everyone has a specific color and one poor soul asks why he chose those colors and spends the next 45 minutes listening to him talking about why each of his signifs was given that very color choice

Don’t Say Anything (part 9)

Summary: You finally decide to tell Bucky that you’ve been in love with him since the day you met but what happens when you walk in on him with a girl? And not just any girl; Natasha.

Pairing: Bucky x Reader

Warnings: fuckfuckfuckfuckfuck

A/N: I think this fic is coming to an enddddddd. Also how have you been? Are you well rested? How was your day? How’s school going? How’s your job? I care about you guys, man.

Steve breathed in, opening his eyes and looking at his - very stupid - best friend. He tried very calmly to process all of the information Bucky had just thrown at him all at once.

“So let me get this straight,” he spoke in a soft tone. “You’re dating Natasha at the moment.” Bucky nods. “And all of a sudden you like Y/N?”

Bucky let out a deep sigh. “When you say it like that, it sounds bad. ‘All of a sudden’.” he mocked.

“I’m just trying to understand how one minute you’re happy with Nat and the next you want to be with Y/N.”

“It wasn’t like that.” Steve gave his friend a confused look, causing the brunette to continue. “I think it was a long time coming. At one point in time I had a small crush on Y/N but never did anything about it. I thought she just saw me as her friend so I pushed aside my feelings for her. I didn’t want to lose the friendship I had with her. Then Nat came around and she made me forget about my feelings for Y/N, even if it was only for a few hours.”

“So you’re using Natasha.” Steve stated.

“Don’t say it like that!” Bucky hissed, shoving Steve’s shoulder. “But yeah, I guess I am. I never really got over Y/N. The feelings I have for her just lingered in the back of my mind and I tried my best to distract myself from them.”

“Bucky.” Steve groaned. “Why?”

“Why what?”

“Why string Natasha along all this time! What has she done to deserve this?”

Bucky sighed. “I forced myself to believe that I liked her in that way. She’s a great person and not gonna lie, the make out sessions were amazing. And don’t get me started on the-”

Steve cleared his throat, bringing his best friend back to reality. Bucky muttered an apology and ran his fingers through his hair.

“You have to sort this shit out, Bucky.” he sighed. “What are you gonna do?”

“I have to talk to Nat first, tell her I’m sorry for everything. I hope I didn’t ruin her friendship with Y/N.” the super soldier responds.

“You royally fucked up my friend.”

Bucky rolled his eyes. “Yeah thanks for reminding me.”

Bucky thinks back to all the times he’s hung out with you. How much he loved watching movies with you because no matter what, your fingers would always find their way to his hair. He loved calling you baby doll, seeing your cheeks tint pink and holding back a grin but ultimately failing at doing so.

There was a reason he always reminded you of how beautiful you looked because to him, you looked beautiful all the time. In his head, he knew no one could take you from him. He knew he couldn’t be replaced and he knew you couldn’t be replaced - by anyone.

So why had he tried replacing you with Natasha?

Too much thinking made his brain hurt and he let out a whimper. “Tell me how bad I’ve messed up again.”

“You’ve messed up so bad, Nat might cut your balls off and hang them on her wall.” Steve wasted no time. It’s like he was waiting for this moment to come because there was absolutely no hesitation. “You’ve messed up so bad that Y/N might reject you because you hurt her best friend.” Bucky huffed. “You’ve messed up so bad that-”

“Alright, alright, I get it you asshole.” Bucky barked, throwing a pillow Steve’s way. It hit his face and fell onto his lap.

“So you choose Y/N?” Steve questioned to confirm.

“Yeah.” he nods. “I hate to say it but Nat was just a distraction.”

“How long was it going on before you told us?”

“A year.”

“Bucky!”

“It wasn’t even serious, Steve!” Bucky held his hands up to protect himself from the pillow being thrown at him. “What we had was a fling. All we would do was talk and fuck. That’s it. We didn’t actually start dating until the night we told all of you. We talked about it a couple of hours before dinner.”

“That doesn’t make it okay!”

“I know, I know.” he stands up. “I have to go find Nat and talk to her.”

But before Bucky could walk away, Steve grabbed his arm. “Now might not be the best time to talk to her. She’s in Y/N’s room with her and Wanda. They’re having ‘girl time’. Whatever that means.”

“How do you know that?”

“I bumped into them, taking cookies and other things into the room but before I could ask what they were doing, Wanda said they’re having girl time and not to bother them for the rest of the day.”

Bucky sat down slowly. You and Natasha were going to be in a room. Together. It had only been three days since Nat accused Bucky of liking Y/N and after many, many talks with his friends (much like the one he just had with Steve), Bucky finally figured out his feelings. For both Natasha and Y/N.

He hoped Nat didn’t say anything about their little argument to Y/N. He wanted to talk to her first. Bucky sat back on the couch and looked over at his friend.

“Why does the universe hate me?”

“We haven’t done this in so long.” Natasha sighed as the three of you sat in your room. Nat was painting Wanda’s toes and you were laying down beside them, flipping through a magazine.

“Yeah..” you hummed. You weren’t about to tell her that the reason you’ve been distancing yourself from her was because you were madly in love with her boyfriend and that seeing them together felt like someone was stabbing you directly in the heart with ten knives all at once.

“How’d you detach Pietro from Y/N?” Nat asks Wanda who was munching on a cookie.

“I told Sam to occupy him for the day.” she replied.

“It couldn’t have been that easy. This is Sam we’re talking bout.”

“I have to do his laundry for two weeks.”

You snort as you flip the page. “That’s the Sam I know and love.”

“Speaking of love..” Nat trails off, sitting up and looking at you. “What’s the update with the guy you’re madly in love with?”

You take a bite of your animal cookie, not looking at Natasha as you flipped another page. “There is no update.”

“What do you mean there’s not an update?”

“I mean there’s not an update. He has a girlfriend so there’s no point in pining after him.” you calmly respond.

“So? Y/N you’ve been in love with this guy for years. Break them up and get with him.” she says as if it’s the most obvious thing to do.

You look over at Wanda and give her a look, basically pleading her to change the subject. She understands you immediately.

“I love the color, Nat. What is it?” Wanda spoke as she wiggled her toes.

“It’s called Miss Behave.” the red head winked, causing Wanda to laugh.

“Well I love it. It’s really pretty.” she brings her hand up to her face. “Maybe you could paint my nails to match my toes.”

You let out a sigh of relief as Natasha agrees to paint her nails. You wait a few seconds before relaxing and trading out your magazine for another one.

You silently thank Wanda when Nat starts speaking again. “How about this: you tell me who this guy is an I’ll talk to him. I just wanna talk.”

“No.”

“It’s just a talk, Y/N. I won’t even bring my gun.”

“No, Natasha.”

“This guy broke your big heart, let me avenge it.”

You started to get irritated and you got up, placing the magazine on your nightstand. Stay calm, Y/N. Just. Stay. Calm.

Wanda notices the look on your face and licks her lips. “Uh.. Hey Nat have you seen the new episode of Law & Order? It’s absolutely crazy!”

“Not now, Wanda.” she turns her attention back to you. “You’re obviously not over this guy, Y/N.”

You whip around. “So what if I’m not? It’s just a little crush. It’ll bypass in no time.”

“Guys..” Wanda’s voice gave off a warning tone.

“It’s been five years.” Natasha reminds you and you clench your fists. Stay calm and don’t cry.

“So?”

“So this isn’t ‘just a little crush’. You’re in love with this dude!”

“Natasha, just drop it.” Wanda says in a soft tone. She knew where this was headed and she tried shutting it down.

The red head looks over at the brunette and glared at her. “No, I’m not going to just drop it. Y/N’s wasted five years on this asshole, Wanda. We’re her best friends. We need to teach that douchebag a lesson.”

“She’s right, just drop it. Nothing will change.” you spoke, trying so hard not to break down. You were afraid that if she continued to push the subject, you’d tell her everything. You didn’t want to break her heart; to betray her. What kind of person likes their best friends boyfriend? How fucked up is that? She couldn’t find out.

“Just tell me who he is!” Natasha was beginning to get frustrated. After all, she just wanted to make the guy pay for hurting her best friend.

“No!” you shout. Don’t cry, don’t cry. Fuck! Your eyes fill with tears and when you blink, they roll down your cheeks, staining them.

“Nat she’s crying, just leave it be.” Wanda grips Natasha’s forearm but she yanks it away, not listening to her.

“Why won’t you tell me who he is!? It’s fucking simple Y/N!” her arms are waving all over the place and her face is as red as her hair from yelling. “You know about me and Bucky so why can’t I know who this dude is!?”

“Stop pressuring her!”

Your tears blurred your vision so all you could see was a red blob and you sobbed loudly before shouting; “Because it’s Bucky!”

A/N: ohhhh noooo oh my gawd. Tell me what ya think!

Title: A Full Commitment’s What I’m Thinking Of

Summary: Sometimes, when you’re friends are so obviously in love and they’re taking forever to get with the program, it’s time to take matters into your own hands.

In which Alya takes matchmaking to a whole new level, Nino tries to be the voice of reason, the entire class is incapable of keeping a secret, and Marinette and Adrien just try to have a decent picnic

A Full Commitment’s What I’m Thinking Of

“A class picnic?”

Alya nodded as she scribbled a time and a location on the back of Marinette’s hand. “Yup. I figured it’d be fun. School year’s ending, the weather is beautiful, and exams are just about wrapped up. Thought it’d be a cool casual thing.”

“You didn’t tell me you were planning this,” Marinette said. “I could’ve helped you!”

“Oh, don’t even worried about it, girlie,” Alya assured. “You’ve been so busy with class rep stuff lately I just went and asked Nino for help. Worked out just fine, too. He’s been helping me handle music and food.”

Marinette smiled. “This is so sweet! I can’t believe you did all this for everyone. Is everyone else coming?”

“Oh yeah,” Alya insisted. “Everyone in class. Even Adrien.”

Alya expected some blushing and stammering, but Marinette merely blinked at her. “Adrien’s going to be there?”

“Of course! He was super excited when he found out you were coming.”

Marinette lifted both of her brows in surprise. “He was?”

Alya patted Marinette on the shoulder. “I would never lie to you. So yeah, you should definitely come. After school today, don’t forget.”

“Ok cool!” Marinette nodded. “Do you wanna walk over together with Nino and — ”

NO!” Alya shouted, hands darting out to grab Marinette’s shoulders. Marinette jumped in shock and leaned away from Alya’s frantic looking expression. Alya bit her lip and sighed out through her nose. “I-I mean….nah, i-it’s fine. I have to help Nino with….something after school anyway. Uh….I’ll meet you there a little afterwards.”

“Um…okay,” Marinette said. “You sure you and Nino don’t need any — ”

“Nope! No help!” Alya insisted, spinning Marinette around and marching her over to the locker room. “You just get your books together and meet us at the park. It’ll be a blast.”

Penny for your thoughts…this might make the narrative too short, but what if, in the space mall episode, Shiro and Black had defeated/killed Zarkon (who then, apparently, would be dead in the real world)? What would the eventual how-has-your-day-gone exchange look like? (An even more ludicrous contrast in tone? Other paladins: Soooo, while we were out, we seem to have maybe ended up with a cow. Shiro: Soooo, while you were out, I seem to have maybe ended Zarkon…)

“And this is why you have this…. cow.”  Allura drew the word out slowly like she was tasting it and not sure she liked it.  Her gaze drew back over to the cow in question, who continued to wander the control room, likely in search of grass.

Shrugging, Pidge nodded.  “Yep.  And this!”  She held up her video game console above her head, letting out an excited whoop.  “Forget the cow, we have video games, now!”

Lance let out a yelp and trotted over to the cow, covering her ears.  “Don’t talk about Kaltenecker that way!”  Unbothered by Lance’s attempts to preserve her self-esteem, the cow wandered off.  Lance continued to chase her, which at least didn’t seem to bother the creature.

“Compared to that, I didn’t do too badly,” Hunk reported.

Keith eyed him.  “Yeah, you only got shackled to a food court stand.”

“I got out, and people really liked my food.”  Shrugging, Hunk gave a little smile.  “Uh, there might be a small bounty on me.  A little one.  By the stall owner.  He didn’t want me to leave after.  I’m sure there’s bigger ones for us.”

For a moment there was silence, as Allura stared at all four, then looked at Coran.  He shrugged and grinned at her, still shuffling the lenses in his hands.

Visibly giving up, Allura turned to look at Shiro.  “How did bonding go?”

Shiro had stayed quiet for his team’s stories.  Normally he’d have questions - many questions - but today he couldn’t manage.  Steeping his fingers in his hands, Shiro slowly tracked his eyes to up to meet Allura’s.  “Um.  Zarkon might be dead.”

There was dead silence.

I’ll give them another two months.

Come on they’ll never last he has a new gf in a couple of weeks.

Aw puppy love. Too bad puppies grow up.

I heard she was seen hanging out with Nylander again. She’s cheating!

Those were a few of the comments that kept popping up on your insta. You didn’t even follow those blogs, but still, you couldn’t help but read the comments under the photos that Auston posted of you. Or Marns or anyone actually. Every time you were in a photo, even just in the background, the comments kept going into directions like this.

There were countless blogs dedicated to your relationship with Auston. Not in a good way though. Instead, they were discussing how it was ridiculous of you to be serious with each other. Everyone seemed to an opinion, most of them sharing the opinion that you were too young to know what love is.

“You okay, babe?”, Auston questioned.

He was currently sitting on the couch, trying to get better in CoD, since Marns was still mocking him for being bad. You looked over from the kitchen, a small smile spreading on your face. His hair was a mess. He had insisted on staying up later than usual because he wanted to finish the season you were currently watching. So now he looked like he was in desperate need of a nap, lying on the couch half asleep, wearing a hoodie and sweatpants.

“I’m fine. Cheating on you with Willy as always. You, on the other hand, look exhausted.”, you chuckled.

Both you and Auston used to get super upset over the comments. You tried to prove everyone wrong, but every time you were the best girlfriend in the world, the ‘fans’ found a new thing to hate. After a while, Auston made you promise not to try so hard anymore. You were perfect to him already and there was no point in being perfect for everyone else. So it had become a joke. Sometime’s when either of you found a really hilarious comment or mysterious headline, you would share it with each other.

“What? You got over your affair with McDavid that fast? That was literally just during the World Cup of Hockey!”

“But you know, I am not emotionally capable of a long-distance relationship. That’s why I dumped him to flirt with the next guy.”, you grinned, plopping down on the couch next to him.

Auston snuggled into your side, still focused on the game, as you started running your hands through his hair.

Auston and you had known each other since you were kids. He asked you out early in High School and you had been dating ever since. You were madly in love with that guy, willing to sacrifice everything for him. You saved up to visit him in Zurich as often as you could and when he returned, you were there when he was drafted. Auston never asked you to do anything, not wanting to put pressure on you, although he couldn’t be happier that you did all of that.

Because you were important to him. You kept him sane with hockey and media drama. It had always been like that. So you both worked on a plan and you managed to successfully relocate both of your lives to Toronto.

Sure, it wasn’t always easy especially since you were both still young but it was worth it. The comments were still frustrating you, but you knew what you wanted. You wanted Auston in your life. Forever. Not just for a couple of months. And Auston couldn’t even imagine letting you go or breaking up with you ever. It was a once in a lifetime relationship.

“It’s still gross that you cheated on me with Marns last month. I mean, you were seen in a hotel together! You’re getting sloppy in hiding your affairs.”, Auston muttered. But he wasn’t playing anymore. Instead, he had his eyes closed, enjoying your touch.

“Yeah! Right. But did you know that - and you won’t believe this - Steph’s parents were staying in the exact same hotel? I mean, what else could we have been doing there?”

“Well, definitely not waiting for you boyfriend to stop being questioned by Steph’s Dad. Or waiting for Steph who forgot her purse in her parent’s room.”, Auston chuckled.

You couldn’t hold back your laughter anymore, causing Auston to open his eyes and look at you.

“Your laugh is the best sound ever.”

“You say that every time. And you said the same thing about the new coffee machine!”, you laughed, stopping your motion in his hair Auston pouted, waiting for you to resume playing with his hair.

“But I don’t love the coffee machine.”

“That’s not what it sounded like when you convinced me we needed a new one.”

Auston grinned at you, before he tilted his head up, making a kissy face.

“But it’s great. Still, your laugh is better. Can I get a kiss?”, he smiled.

His smile was adorable, and it made you fall in love with him again, every time. You leaned down to place a sweet kiss on his lips and when Auston was distracted, you snatched the remote from next to him and turned off the TV.

“Hey.”, he complained.

“Come on. It’s your day off. You promised to cook with me.”, you pouted. Auston leaned up to peck your lips, but he seemed to agree with you.

“I love you.”, he mumbled against your lips.

“I love you too, goofball.”

“You know, when you said we would cook together, I thought you would actually be helping.”, you grinned.

You had just finished up the food and put it in the oven, but Auston didn’t do much to help you. Instead, he just kept his arms wrapped around you and his head on top of yours, making it hard for you to work.

“I’m good at grilling. Everything else is your specialty.”, he grinned, a yawn escaping his lips.

You turned around to him and tried to look up, but he kept your head tugged under his chin. So, to be able to look at him, you hopped onto the counter behind you. Auston stood between your legs, tiredly smiling at you.

“You always get cuddly when you’re tired. You know that?”, you smiled back.

“You might have mentioned it before. Is that such a bad thing?”, he chuckled lightly.

“S'cute. I like it.”, you muttered, leaning forward to press a gentle kiss onto his nose. Auston answered by pecking your lips.

“Why did I agree to have Marns and Willy over for dinner?”, he asked.

“Because you’re a good friend that was worried they would eat takeout again? Because you were actually awake when you said that?”, you joked.

“But I want you to myself. And the food.”

“Aww. Sharing is caring. But they shouldn’t stay too long. You need your sleep before the game tomorrow.” You added another kiss, this time to his forehead, but Auston had other plans. He leaned in for a kiss to your lips, lazily remaining there for a while.

“You guys are gross. Why do you always do this?”, another voice whined.

Both you and Auston jumped, turning around to an obviously amused Nylander. William was standing in the doorway, Marns next to him holding his phone up.

“Remind me why we gave them a key?”, you laughed, turning back to Auston.

“Something about emergencies.”, Auston replied. He pecked your lips again, this time much shorter, but just as sweet.

“Guys.”, William complained.

“What’s for dinner?”, Marns asked immediately after.

“Come on, let’s feed them or they won’t shut up.”, Auston laughed, helping you down the counter.

“I can’t believe you filmed us.”, Auston groaned his head in your lap.

As it turned out, Marns had his phone up because he recorded your little scene in the kitchen. Every single moment ever since they entered. And they had been standing there for longer than Auston and you knew.

So now, the newest thing on Mitch’s insta account was a video of you and Auston, of course, both of you tagged underneath. You were already preparing yourself for the comments to come.

“It was cute. Gross but cute.”, Mitchell grinned.

Willy nodded approvingly. He too was featured in the video. Every time either Auston or you had said something cheesy, the camera had been turned to William or Marns himself, showing their reaction. From eye rolls to fake swooning and even a fake gagging everything was featured, making the whole thing hilarious. And Mitch’s phone was blowing up with notifications.

“Remember when you had that privacy talk with Matt, Marns?”, you said, raising your eyebrows at him.

“Yeah, yeah. Ask people before you post stuff. Blah blah. But you wouldn’t have allowed me to post it. So I didn’t ask. Plus: You guys are always so lovey-dovey but somehow no one ever found out beside us. I’m just giving them these important bits of information.”

“Like you said: Sharing is caring.”, William grinned, giving you a wink.

“I can’t believe you guys.”, you groaned, but you rolled your eyes with a smile.

“Oh my goodness. Mitchell! What is going on? I thought you only posted it on Instagram?”, Auston questioned suddenly.

“I did. Only there, I swear.”

“Why, baby?”, you asked.

“My mom just texted me. She thinks it’s the cutest thing ever and I can assure you my Mom is not on Instagram. It’s everywhere by now.”

Auston showed you the messages from both his Mom and Breyanna. You couldn’t help but laugh at it, but your face fell in shock when your own phone started going crazy causing Auston to laugh at you this time.

“Oops. I didn’t know it would blow up like this.”, Mitch shrugged.

And although you didn’t want to, you automatically scrolled down to the comments.

Wow. Hate to say it but maybe they won’t break up.

I said it before you dumbfucks, they’re happy now get a life and stop hating on their relationship.

Did you know that they knew each other since first grade?

His Mom keeps posting photos of the two of them. They do look kinda cute.

He still deserves better.

Not all the comments were suddenly nice, but even the small amount of comments that were, made you smile. Of course, that got Auston’s attention. He snatched the phone from your hands and scrolled through the comments you had read, looking positively surprised.

“Looks like a little more insight into our relationship changed some of their minds.”, he chuckled.

“Yeah, seems like it.”, you muttered, smiling at him.

“They have no idea about us. And they will be bored in a couple of months. Although I have a feeling the break will be short. Think about the number of theories and comments they will come up with when I finally get you to adopt a dog and marry me.”

You snorted, shaking your head slightly.

“You got your priorities straight, huh?”, you teased.

“It’s not news to me that I want to marry you some day. But I only found out that we’re allowed to have a dog in this Apartment yesterday.”, he joked.

“Fine. We’ll think about it for a couple of months and if we still think it’s a good idea we’ll get a dog. Deal?”

“Deal. And you’re gonna marry me then?”, Auston continued to joke.

“Goof, we talked about this. Your Mom might love us, but she will give you the lecture of your life if you don’t at least let me finish college first.”, you chuckled.

“Fine. Dog, college, Wedding. At least Mom loves you as much as I do.”

“I love you too.” Auston pulled you down to him, but before you could actually kiss each other you were interrupted.

“Guys. You’re doing it again.”, Marns reminded you.

You looked up to see that Marns had his phone back up.

“Marns!”, Auston and you yelled at the same time. Auston threw a pillow at Mitch, but he just threw it right back.

“Sharing is caring!”, he insisted, although the words were going under as the whole group started to laugh.

Tainted Love (part 3)

Summary: Soulmates are supposed to be a wonderful thing, that is until you find out who your soulmate is. You guessed it, Lance “The Fucker” Tucker.

Pairing: Lance x Reader

Warnings: swearin’

A/N: I bet you all look really beautiful today :)

Reality comes back to Hope and she screeches. “Are you fucking kidding me?!”

“What do I do?” you slap your palm on your forehead, squeezing your eyes shut.

“Is this a joke? Am I getting Punk’d?” she questioned and you scowl, although she couldn’t see your face through the phone.

“No you’re not fucking getting Punk’d, dumbass.” you grit, trying to keep your voice down so that Lance wouldn’t hear you.

You hear Hope scoff on the other end. “I can’t believe he’s actually your soulmate. How fucked up is that?”

“Laugh about it later. Right now I need to know what to do because at the moment Lance is in my kitchen.”

Her joking tone turned serious. “Why is that dickwad in your kitchen? Oh god Y/N did you guys fuck?”

“No! God Hope, I have self respect for myself, you do realize that, right?” your friend was being unbearable.

“That guy has some mad skills. One minute you can be talking about something as innocent as a kids birthday party and the next, you’re fucking. He’s smooth as hell.” she tells you and you sigh.

“Yeah, well I won’t make the same mistake that you did.”

“I was young and dumb Y/N. Stop holding my past against me.” Hope says in a casual tone.

“I don’t! This is probably the third time I’ve ever brought it up since meeting you! You’re the one who always brings it up!” you defend.

“Yeah, yeah. Listen, just go out there, look him in the eyes and say get out of my fucking house you sex addicted freak. He’ll be gone just like that.” you can practically see her shrugging.

“I’m not doing that Hope, I’m a nice person.”

Hope sighs loudly. “I don’t know what to tell you, Y/N.”

“There has to be a reason as to why he’s my soulmate, Hope. Maybe he’s not as bad as you make him out to be.” your voice lowered towards the end and you shut your eyes, knowing Hope would start yelling at you.

“I’ve experienced what it’s like to be with Lance head on! I know what kind of asshole he can be. He breaks hearts and doesn’t care, Y/N! He’ll do the same damn thing to you and I won’t allow my best friend to get hurt from some scum bag who doesn’t have feelings!” she shouts and at one point you have to take the phone away from your ear.

“Hope, there has to be a reason that above everyone else, he’s my soulmate! We’re destined to be together!” you argue

“That soulmate stuff is bullshit.”

“Say that in front of Ben.” you challenge and she goes silent. “ Exactly.”

“He’s an asshole.” she reminds you.

“You just say that because he fucked you over and he’s been cruel to you since you got all the attention despite only winning the bronze.” you roll your eyes.

“He’s mean to Ben!”

“Hope, you’re mean to Ben.”

“Yeah but I’m allowed to be mean to him.”

Another eye roll. It goes silent on both your eyes as you process everything that has happened in the last 20 minutes. Lance is your soulmate. You share every cut, every scar, every injury, every… Tattoo.

“Hope, I gotta go.”

“What? No, where-” you end the call and toss your phone onto your bed then storm out into the kitchen, startling Lance when was leaning against the counter, sipping his cup of water.

He stands up straight upon seeing you. “Hey, what ha-”

“You selfish asshole!” you shout, coming chest to chest with him. Lance is confused. “I can’t believe how inconsiderate you are! You knew damn well that you had a soulmate and you knew damn well that I’d feel every single thing you felt!”

“What are you talking about?” was he being serious?

“I’m talking about you getting that god awful gold medal tattoo!” you shout. “Do you not know how ugly that shit is?! I hate taking showers, I hate looking at myself in the mirror and I can’t fucking have sex with anyone because that stupid tattoo is so god damn embarrassing!”

Lance smirks. You didn’t expect that reaction. “Shit, you have it too? Lemme see..” he leans forward, reaching for your pants but you swat his hand away, glaring at the tall, dark haired man.

“Fuck you!”

“Oh baby,” he rests his weight on the counter again. “You’d like that, wouldn’t you?”

You look at him with disgust plastered on your face before turning your back to him. “Get out of my apartment.”

Now when girls would tell Lance to get out of their house, he’d be out the door before she could even finish her sentence. But with you, it was different. He wanted to stay with you, he didn’t want to go. Just being in your presence comforted him no matter if you were angry with him or not.

“Y/N, wait, no, I didn’t mean-”

“I said get out, Lance.” you snap, turning back to look at him. “Maybe it’s a good idea if we just stay away from each other. You didn’t want anything to do with me before, there shouldn’t be a difference now.”

Lance thought back to all the times you’d try to contact him with a simple ‘hi’ or ‘hey’ and he’d respond with a ‘fuck you’ or ‘leave me the hell alone’

“I’m sorry.” the cocky, asshole Lance from before was replaced with this Lance. He was genuinely sorry.

“Just leave please.” you sigh, not daring to look up from the floor.

Lance, defeated, let out a puff of air before complying to your wish. He looked at you once more before shutting the front door behind him.

A/N: Sorry it’s kind of short. Tell me what ya think :)

Here’s my breakdown of what happened at C2E2!

I spent Friday attending professional panels for the comics industry, which probably deserves a post of its own, but I don’t think anyone is interested in me talking shop. But Saturday was devoted to Agents of SHIELD stuff with Iain and Liz. I had an amazing time and so many awesome things happened. Truly it was the best con experience I’ve ever had and, as @bigfunnywords (HEY Tumblr finally let me tag you!) said, I lived my best life. I’ll try to do the tl;dr version but this will probably get long.

Putting the rest behind a cut for your scrolling convenience.

A/N: One more part left in Rotation after this. Part 1 and Part 2 here:
Another Man’s Treasure // Mind on a Mission

You stared at each other for an eternity, you on the bed and Harry standing a million miles away. Somehow you ended up toe-to-toe with him, Harry towering over you. And your hands rested on his chest, while his slowly fell to rest on your bum. No words were exchanged, only the fire between your eyes.

You could feel him pulling you nearer, and you weren’t imagining the way he lowered his head to meet your gaze. But when you made the move to press your lips to his, lifting up on your tiptoes to close the minimal distance, he stiffened. The kiss hardly lasted a second before he pulled away, bringing a hand to cover his mouth as he stepped out of your hold.

“Should go,” he mumbled, looking around for his boots.

“Did I–?” You felt self-conscious, uncomfortable even. Just moments ago you thought he was going to fuck you into next year, but now he wouldn’t even let you kiss him?

“Isn’t Tommy on his way over?” Harry yanked one boot on after the other before snatching his keys and phone off your dresser, shoving them in his pockets.

“He and Michael are taking me for dinner…” Your voice was quiet. Harry was acting strange, his haste to leave almost hurtful. “Why don’t you join us? Said summat about gettin’ a curry, and I know how you love a curry, Haz.” You tried to smile, attempting to break the awkward tension Harry was creating, but the incredulous look he gave you signaled you’d not said the right thing.

“I’ve just heard you promise yeh brother that you’d stay away from me, Bubbles. What’d’ya think’s gon’ happen when he turns up and I’m here?”

(This gif has me feeling so many things??)

You had been reluctant to go home that day, you had thoroughly enjoyed your visit with Bucky. The two of you talked…well you had done most of the talking while he sat there in the water and looked at you, occasionally grabbing the pad and pencil to write something to you. You had even managed to get him to crack a smile, not one of the small ones from earlier but a full on wide, toothy grin. It had been adorable…at first, that was until you got a glance at his sharp, jagged teeth. They almost reminded you of shark’s teeth only scarier given they were on a human being and not a marine animal. Something about this guy was seriously off, you knew that much, between the webbing and teeth and the constant need to stay in the water you had figured he was…strange to say the least. These should have scared you away, you should have run as soon as he appeared the second time but you didn’t, instead you sat down on the docks and talked to him until he had to abruptly scurry off at the first sign of people. These were all red flags, you should have talked to someone or reported this man to the police and yet again you didn’t and now here you were, the following day sitting on the dock awaiting for your friend to appear.

You doodle a bit, no longer focused on the sunrise as much as your water loving friend who had yet to make an appearance this morning. You gently sketched a face, one with a chiseled jaw and high cheekbones, you doodle some hair, long and matted with water but still gorgeous but what you truly focused on was the eyes. They had to be perfect, they had to capture the essence of curiosity and innocence but they also had to have a deeper, darker tone to them, one that implied this man- whomever he was- had a secret, or a darker side.

A soft coo is what pulls you away from your drawing but you don’t even have to look up to know it was. You set your drawing pad aside as you smile at Bucky who smiled right back, showcasing those jagged, knife like teeth.

“Hey Bucky,” You murmur quietly, as though scared to break the soothing sounds of the early morning sea. Bucky hums softly as he assumes his regular position, his head tucked upon his folded arms as he looks up at you. Your eyes rake over his form, stopping at his neck as you survey the slices of flesh, moving in time with each breath he took. They sure as hell looked like gills…but that- that wasn’t possible, human beings couldn’t have gills…could they?  Bucky hums again as he looks at you, his brows furrowed in confusion. Guess he’d caught your rather curious gaze “Sorry, um uh- I was just staring at your-” You gesture to his neck, sighing rather loudly. “Okay Bucky, what the hell are those things?” Bucky reaches up with a webbed hand to touch the skin, running his fingers along the ripped flesh before setting his hand back against the dock, looking rather sheepish. “Oh god Bucky-” You sigh, knowing you’ve offended him again with your ignorance. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean anything by it, it’s just-” You gesture to your own neck, revealing the not ripped flesh. “Mine’s different again, see?” Bucky looks back up, his blue eyes traveling over the expanse of your neck. “Do you…do you wanna touch it?” Bucky nods as he leans up a bit, pulling himself up just enough to expose his bare chest. Your eyes rake over his skin, taking in ever piece of smooth, water covered flesh. God- this man…or whatever he is- was beautiful.

Bucky makes a little impatient sound in the back of his throat, making grabby hands at you when he realized he couldn’t quite reach your neck. You smile as you lean down a bit, allowing his cool hands to graze your skin. The feeling was…different than expected; his fingers were cool to the touch and most definitely wet but they felt good against your skin. You hum softly as Bucky touches your neck, feeling the difference between your neck and his own.

“See? Different right?” Bucky purses his lips and nods, staring down at his own body in what appeared to be shame. Whatever was below the water he obviously didn’t want you to see, the most he had exposed to you was his upper body and even that was strange, you could only imagine what it looked like down below. “Bucky?” You whisper, biting your lip as you contemplate whether the question was worth asking. The man hums as he finally retracts his hand, apparently satisfied with his little inspection. “Can I ask you something kinda of…personal?” Bucky looks at you with squinted eyes, the distrust on his face obvious but nonetheless he nods. “Um, are you- are you human?” Bucky looks up at you with an almost frightened expression, his eyes wide and lips parted. But before you can even begin to repair the damage he disappears, ducking down below the surface just as he had done yesterday. “Wait Bucky!” You cry out as you lean forward, searching the waters desperately but there was no sign of him, the only thing that would have hinted that he was here was by the way the dock was covered in rivulets of water, most likely from his dripping hair.

You slump back onto the dock, looking at the waters in surprise. How could he have just disappeared like that? And why did he just disappear like that? You bite your lip in thought as you scan the waters, waiting for any sign of your new friend but there seemed to be none. Even after five minutes you saw no sign of your friend, then ten rolled around, then 20, then 40, but by the time the beach had started to sprout a family or two you realized Bucky wasn’t coming back. You sighed softly as you stood from the dock, grabbing your sketch pad and pencil in disappointment. As you waddled away from the dock you looked back, hoping to catch some glance of your friend but there was none, only the boats and sea so with another sigh you keep on waddling, trying not to let your spirits hurt too much.

You returned the next day, with your sketch pad and pencil, awaiting for Bucky. You waited for 3 fucking hours. 3 hours of just sitting and waiting for Bucky to show up. The sun rose, the people arrived and yet here you were waiting all alone on the docks.

You sigh as you drag your pencil along your paper, creating nonsensical lines and scribbles. It looked as though Bucky wasn’t going to show this morning and you couldn’t help but feel like it was your fault but you’d remedy this, you’d get Bucky to come back around.

For the next two weeks you kept up the same routine, showing up with your sketch pad and pencil, waiting for your strange, water loving friend to show but he never did. The countless hours you spent on those docks waiting for him were painful, they have you time to think about him. Even if you had only known him for 3 days you couldn’t help but feel attached to him and now suddenly he had disappeared. And yet here you were, the third week, and still sitting on the dock waiting for him. This time you had brought your guitar and you were gently strumming on it, humming a solemn song yourself. If you were going to wait out here for hours on end for your non existent friend to show up you had better bring something to entertain yourself since drawing wasn’t doing it for you anymore.

You strummed and plucked multiple songs, slowly but surely making your way through every tune you knew how to play. By the time you were done your fingers were aching and the sounds of the beach had gone strong; It had to be noon by the time you finished and surprise, still no sign if Bucky. God- why would he just leave you like this? Why wouldn’t he come back or at least tell you why he had left? Perhaps it was you? Maybe he was tired of you and didn’t want to see you anymore? Perhaps your insistent questions had angered him?

A million questions swirl around your mind until you can barely think anymore, your head to jumbled with “maybe’s” and “what if’s”. God- you had really fucked this up. For once you actually liked someone and then you went and fucked it up. If only you had kept your mouth shut, if only you hadn’t been so annoying, if only you could have been better. Tears burn at your eyes and before you know it you’re crying, your tears sliding off and hitting the watery docks. You were so pathetic, you knew a guy for 3 days and then he leaves and you’re this heart Broken? You bury your face in your hands, crying into them like some pathetic cry baby, which you were; The negative thoughts don’t mix well with your already strong feelings of frustration and regret.

Your crying is only spurred on by your negative thoughts, both your frustration and self hate brewing together to create the ‘beautiful’ mixture of tears you were experiencing right now. And that’s when you hear it, a gentle but soothing coo amongst the sound of ocean waves and the distant beach goers. You don’t even want to look up for the fear of the noise only being your imagination but suddenly there’s that strange but pleasant hand on your leg, gripping your leg gently. The coo comes again, this time a bit louder and persistent, almost as though Bucky was trying to grab your attention. Even with all your frustration and anger you look up, sniffling a bit as you do.

“Bucky…” You sniffle softly, hesitantly meeting the man’s gaze. He coos once again, his bright blue eyes very intently looking at your face. You bite your lip as you look at him, feeling even more pathetic than you did before. You can’t look into those ocean eyes any longer, your shame and embarrassment getting the better of you as you turn your head away from him but before you can there’s a gentle hand on your cheek, wiping away at your tears. You look back at Bucky in surprise, his hand feeling pleasant against your own wet cheek. This the most Bucky had ever touched you, other than when he had touched your neck and hands but this was- this was something else; this was more than those observatory touches, this was something more intimate. You sigh softly, allowing your eyes to flutter close as Bucky’s thumb runs over your cheek, collecting each tear that fell- however they don’t remain closed for long when they’re suddenly shooting back open in surprise.

   “Please don’t cry…”

The pregnancy book was staring at you from the table, and you stared back, glared even as your lips wrapped around a spoon of chocolate ice-cream. Take this, you stupid book.

@midnigtartist Happy birthday! I was already writing this before I learned it was your birthday, but I hope you enjoy it regardless! You’re art is great! As much as he’d like it to be the case, Thomas did not at first recognize the kid loitering around the office. He did however, recognize that the kid couldn’t be more than 10 years old, if that- and was therefore too young to be standing around anywhere, never mind outside the ‘Washington and Associates’ law firm.

It wasn’t quite time to pack up, but Thomas figured this was more important. Plus, no one else was dealing with it, or even noticing. He saved his work, and stood up.

“Leaving early?” James poked his head up, at Thomas’ movement.

“There’s a kid hanging around outside, it’s distracting,” Thomas explained. James peeked out the window, furrowed his brows, and nodded.

“Don’t take too long,” James reminded, turning back to his work. Thomas rolled his eyes and nodded, even though he knew James’ attention was already back to his work.

The kid jumped when Thomas opened the door, immediately turning around and looking down as if he just happened to be standing there. It wasn’t very convincing.

“Hi,” Thomas pitched his voice, warmer and completely devoid of his usual sarcastic drawl. “You’ve been standing out here for a while, is there anything I can help you with?” Up close, the kid was even smaller. The parents had better be nearby, or Thomas would be having words.

“Uhh,” The kid’s head bobbed up, then straight down, his mass of curls hiding his face. Thomas felt his heart thaw, just a bit- the kid was just shy. Which was fair, given Thomas was a tall, mysterious stranger. Even adults tended to be intimidated. Thomas leaned down, dropping to the kid’s level.

“That’s okay,” Thomas tried to put the kid at ease. “Could you tell me where your parents are, so we can find them?”

“Umm,” The kid started again, but this time he brushed his hair behind an ear and glanced up to Thomas’ chin. “Mom’s at her home, I’m s'posed to be with Dad this week, and he’s s'posed to be here. I think.” He nervously glanced up at the building. “There’s only one Washington law place, right?”

Ah, a divorced kid. “Yes, as far as I’m aware, this is the only Washington law place,” Thomas didn’t want to correct the kid and possibly confuse him. Still, he couldn’t stop an amused smile at the term ‘law place’. “Can you tell me your Dad’s name?”

The kid froze, paling instantly. “U-uh, it’s my Dad, um…” He started shaking. Crap.

Thomas thought quickly. “It’s okay, it’s okay!” He smiled wide, waving his hand in what he hoped was more comforting than dismissive, though he used it in the latter sense far more often. “Could you tell me your name, instead?”

“Oh!”, the kid grinned. “My name’s Philip Hamilton! I’m 8 years old!” Thomas nearly flinched. There was only one Hamilton who worked at Washington’s, and there was no way this was a coincidence. He should have guessed- Hamilton’s divorce was well known in lawyer circles, and now that he was looking for it, the kid’s face bore some resemblance. Standing in front of Thomas was his biggest work rival’s son.

There wasn’t anything for it, though. Thomas was hardly going to just leave the kid out here. “Nice to meet you, Philip. I work with your Dad. My name’s Thomas Jefferson.”

Philip’s eyes lit up in recognition. Thomas had just enough time to worry about what exactly the kid was recognizing. “Jefferson? Dad mentions you all the time! He says you’re really distracting!”

Distracting, huh? Not 'evil’, not 'idiotic’; nor any of the other insults Hamilton would shout to his face? Not even 'bad man’, if he wanted to soften it to his kid? Thomas itched to ply Philip for answers, for what Hamilton really thought; but it was the middle of winter and now was not the time.

“How about we wait inside for your Dad, and you tell me what you’re doing out here?” Thomas spoke cautiously, not sure how Philip would react to being asked to go somewhere with a relative stranger.

Strangely though, Philip’s shyness went straight out the window after his introduction. “Oh! That’s because Dad promised me this time, for real promised, that he’d get off work on time and take me to see a movie! I wanted to make sure he really would, so I looked up 'Washington law’ on google and bussed here all by myself!” Thomas led the way to the building as Philip chattered, small hand immediately latching onto Thomas’ fingers.

“That’s very cool!” Thomas enthused, opening the door and immediately shooting a glare at every person who stared. “Now, your Dad’s out now, the boss sent him to the courthouse to drop something off, but we can wait for him, alright?”

Philip beamed. “Alright! This place looks even cooler than I thought!” He was so enthusiastic, that Thomas couldn’t help but smile back. Hamilton would still be getting an earful, being so unreliable that his 8 year old child felt the need to escape his babysitter and bus through the middle of town to check up on him. Hell, did he even have a babysitter?

Thomas’ work was left, forgotten on his desk. James would clean up for him, this was more important. “What do you say to meeting your Dad’s boss?” He needed to at least explain the situation, after all.

“Mr. Washington? Yeah! Dad says he’s too nosy, and Mom says he’s basically like my second grandpa, even though I’ve never met him before.”

Thomas couldn’t stop the chuckle if he tried. “Did he? You’ll have to tell me more, later.” He joked, but Philip nodded anyways. This was far better than finishing his work.

Alex was determined to keep his promise, for real this time. He was not staying late, and if possible, he would even be home early. Washington owed it to him, for all that free overtime.

Unfortunately, all the owing in the world meant nothing when Washington ordered him to take some important documents to the courthouse, a good half hour away, when the day was nearly over. Alex could never say no to a direct request like that, even if Washington probably would have relented if he explained his circumstances.

No, he could do this and still be out on time, if he drove straight to Philip’s school, instead of back to the firm, first. Alex did so, driving as fast as he reasonably could.

Only, when he did that, Philip had already left, instead of waiting for him. In fact, he had left for the washroom in the last hour of class, and never returned, according to the teacher. Alex barely spared the time to chew them out for not keeping a better headcount, and then he was running off to his car and to home.

Philip wasn’t at home either. Alex started panicking in earnest. He could be anywhere, but why would he? Philip was so excited about going to see the movie, he wouldn’t have just run off today of all days, would he? But he alternative- if Philip hadn’t purposefully run off himself- was far worse. Alex started by doing circles of the neighbourhood, then the local parks.

Alex was focused; so focused that his phone remained in his pocket, battery dead before he’d even realized Philip was missing.

It must have been hours later, the sun starting to set, when Alex finally gave up. He had panicked somewhere early down the line, and never quite stopped. His limbs were shaking. Alex had lost his son.

He didn’t want to even think about the phone call he would have to make to Eliza. But first, he’d check the house again, just in case. Alex wasn’t holding out much hope at this point.

Alex was just stressed enough to miss the strange car behind his in the driveway. He was not, however, too stressed to notice two people sitting in his living room.

“Hamilton, about time!” Jefferson waved his arms enthusiastically, though something sharp glinted in his eyes. Alex’s brain stuttered for a moment at the sight of his coworker/rival relaxing in his home, but then Philip was bounding into his arms.

“Dad! Where the heck where you? Mr. Jefferson’s called you like, a million times!”

“Wha- Philip, where have you been? You weren’t at school, the teachers told me you disappeared, you weren’t at home, I’ve been worried sick, looking for you!” Harsh, panicked words spilled from Alex’s mouth, even as he seized his son in a fierce hug. “Don’t scare me like that!”

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to,” Philip hugged back tight, voice suddenly subdued and guilty. “I just wanted to find you at work, so you’d actually go on time.”

Alex loosened his hug so that he could face Philip directly. “Wait, you what-?” Alex cut himself off, remembering the other person in the room. “Jefferson, why the fu-heck are you here?” Philip’s head poked up at Alex’s accusatory tone, brows furrowing in confusion.

“Nice save,” Jefferson smirked, always as irritating as possible. “Also, is that really the way you want to be speaking to the guy who’s been watching your kid all evening? When I could have been doing anything else with my time?”

There was no reason for Jefferson to be lying. In fact, that answer made the most sense, given that Jefferson had literally been in his home, watching Philip, when Alex got in there. Still though, this was Jefferson. Instinctive denial surged in his chest. “Excuse me-”

“I’m sorry!” Philip shouted again, lip trembling. He wasn’t looking at Alex though, instead facing Jefferson. “I didn’t mean to waste your day!”

Alex’s blood ran cold. That was exactly the opening one could never make to Jefferson- he could never hold back his infuriating sarcastic comments. He was going open his mouth and spout some negative bullshit that would make Philip cry, because Jefferson was an asshole who didn’t have any kids and probably hated them.

Jefferson did open his mouth, but his eyes were suddenly wide, with surprise and maybe guilt- something Alex had never seen him wear. He scrambled off the couch. “No no, I didn’t mean that, Philip! You’ve been great fun!” Jefferson assured, stepping over to crouch in front of Philip.

Philip looked up at him cautiously. Alex held his breath, completely taken aback. “Really?”, Philip whispered, and Alex could hear the tiny smile working its way into his voice.

“Of course!” Jefferson reached a hand over to ruffle his hair. “I got to read all your poems, and you got to hear all about the silly things your Dad does at work! It’s just that your Dad’s back now, so I should probable get going.” He gave Philip a wide grin, full of warmth and life.

Alex wasn’t sure he’d ever seen Jefferson with a smile like that. It did something to his stomach that he’d rather not analyze.

“No! You gotta stay for supper! We can’t do the movie anymore anyways, right Dad!” Philip bounced back, both emotionally and literally, on the balls of his feet.

Alex opened his mouth, searching for an excuse that wouldn’t upset Philip. Then, he glanced over to Jefferson. He was fidgeting, glancing away awkwardly. With a start, Alex realized he must have actually had fun. Somehow, Jefferson was actually really good with kids, if Philip’s excitement meant anything; and now he was standing there, in Alex’s house, looking more awkward and vulnerable than Alex had ever seen him.

“Yeah… yeah, he can stay. If he wants to.” Alex didn’t even want to guess what his face looked like right now. He wasn’t even sure what his feelings looked like right now. It was all a mess of exposed wires, his entire worldview turned on its head.

Jefferson flinched in surprise for a moment, eyes snapping to Alex. Then, he gauged Alex’s pure, undiluted confusion, and a smile slowly took his face, one that more closely resembled the teasing smirks Alex was used to. Now though, it seemed just a little less aggressive than Alex remembered.

“I suppose I can stay and tell your Dad all about how you skipped your last class, looked up his workplace online, and then bussed there all by yourself without telling anybody.” Jefferson shrugged, nonchalant.

“What! Mr. Jefferson, no!” Philip whined, even as he smiled broadly. “I’m gonna get grounded!”

Jefferson laughed. “Well, whose fault is that? You’re a little troublemaker!”

Philip spouted denials in between giggles. Alex felt his paradigm shift further off axis. “I guess I’ll get started,” Alex said, quiet and distant. He stood up and edged his way to the kitchen. Jefferson and Philip continued to chat in his hallway.

Somewhere between numb and completely unsure of himself, Alex turned the oven on and got out a frozen pizza. He took as much time as he could retrieving the round pan and opening the pizza box. Replaying in his mind was the smile Jefferson had made at Philip. His stomach flipped again.

“Hey,” Jefferson’s voice was calm and subdued, but made Alex jump a foot anyways. “I put the TV on for Philip.” He was right behind Alex, nearly crowding him into the counter. “I assume you want to know what’s been going on? No one’s been on the same page today.”

Alex swallowed. It wasn’t the first time Jefferson had crowded him, Alex had realized over time that it was more a matter of not knowing about personal space, rather than an active bid at intimidation. It was also overwhelming, especially now. “Uh,” Alex started, horrified at the squeak his voice made. “I guess not.”

Jefferson smirked- how could he not?- but relented, backing up a step. “It really wasn’t all that crazy. The kid showed up in the last hour of work, and no one else would do it, so I watched him. Tried to call your phone, I’m assuming it’s dead.” Alex dug into his pocket, pulling out a very dead phone. He paled. “No, it’s fine, it’s done.” Jefferson waved his hand dismissively. “I didn’t- I mean, it wasn’t awful.”

Alex paused at Jefferson’s stutter. His ears were pink. Adorable, Alex thought, then shook it from his mind. “Thank you,” he said instead.

“Uhhh,” Jefferson’s ears turned pinker. “No offense, but that sounds so weird coming from you.” Suddenly, he started laughing. “And I just said 'no offense’, which is even weirder!”

Alex snorted. Giggles stumbled their way between his lips, turning into chuckles, then full blown laughter. “Oh my God,” Alex wheezed, “This is so weird!”

Jefferson was howling right beside him. “I know, right?!”

Their laughs petered off, save for a quiet snicker from the distance. Both their heads whipped around- Philip peeked from the doorway. “Dad hasn’t laughed like that in ages,” He said knowingly. “You guys should hang out more. Hey, can Mr. Jefferson come with us to the movie, next time?”

Alex flushed, his mind stumbling to a stop, not sure if it was from the sheer audacity of the question, or how the idea of going out with Jefferson sounded too much like a date. His only saving grace was that it was probably the last thing Jefferson wanted, anyways. It didn’t matter that the sight of him being so nice to Philip did things to Alex’s heart.

“That sounds nice. If your Dad agrees.” Jefferson gave Philip an indulgent smile, then turned to Alex, question standing.  A quiet blush graced his cheekbones as well. He looked so much more attractive- cute, Alex’s brain supplied- when it was open like this. Usually, Jefferson’s appearance was the only attractive thing about him. Alex realized suddenly that he was gone- had been gone the moment Jefferson had revealed a side of himself that wasn’t pure opposition to everything Alex stood for.

“Alright,” Alex agreed. He needed to see where this was going. He was going to figure Jefferson out, or die trying.

Would You Rather...

“Thank you so much for doing this for me, Y/N! Rather have some company on my way to work than drive alone.”

She’s settling herself into the passenger’s seat when James beams at her, his expression excited as he helps her with the seatbelt.

“Seatbelt’s a bit tricky here ehh! But anytime, anytime.”

She’s watched tons of these carpool karaoke skits, each with an inspiring artist sitting on the spot she’s so lucky to be in now. She’s been excited about this ever since she got the call, the fact that James had moved his show out to LA making it easier for her to confirm. The both of them went over where the cameras were located before filming started, and when she asked what tracks they’d be karaok-ing to or what questions he’ll be asking, he just would not spill. So that makes her just a tad nervous if she’s being honest.

But she knows, or at least hopes, that any real bad uh-oh’s will be edited out for her sake.

So no, it’s not unexpected at all when the first track that pops up is her latest single, and right off the bat they’re belting out the lyrics and having a grand time.

With breaks for questions between songs, James is sure to ask about the new unreleased album, commenting and complementing her on the sound.

When they come to a red light at the corner of the street and they’re spotted by fans who begin to ask for pictures and autographs, Y/N has to look apologetically at James, giving him a desperate look before softly saying she’ll be quick.

She takes a bit of time to hug and sign whatever items are being shoved at her, taking an occasional picture before she waves James over to join her. And he can’t quiet say no. A lot of celebrities don’t normally do this, they’d rather keep their head low and pace fast, but seeing Y/N’s interactions with her fans has him putting the car in park and joining her for group photos.

Eventually they make their way back into the vehicle and on the road again.

She apologies endlessly about having him stop, but he assures her it’s okay, that they should probably continue with what they were doing since she’s on a tight schedule.

“I think you’re gonna like this next one. Little bird told me you’re a big fan.”

And Y/N’s sure her eyes light up instantly the second Harry’s verse comes up, but she doesn’t care, she’s singing and smiling and James is doing it, too. When the song comes to an end she can’t wipe the smile off her face, and James sure does take a notice to that.

“Great song that was wasn’t it?”

Y/N can only nod in agreement.

“They’re great guys, too. Really are.”

“I bet they are lovely people.”

“You’ve never met them?”

“Oh I wish, but no unfortunately I haven’t.”

“Oh you lot would get on well. You sort of remind me of Harry in how you are with your fans.”

“Really now? I can only hope I’m half as generous. I admire him for that.”

A smirk plays on his lips now, eyes on the road but still taking notice to your words.

“Okay so I heard you absolutely hate answering these.” And James cannot hide the devious smile that’s made its way into his face.

“Oh no! I should have really asked for the itinerary on this interview.”

James can’t help but laugh.

“Okay so would you rather-”

Just by the sound of those words, Y/N knows she gonna wanna fling herself out of the car. And she’s not subtle about the fact that she detests the scenarios the questions bring by the way she bring her hand to her forehead and grunts.

“-would you rather open for Madonna, or run into Harry Styles and make a fool of yourself?”

“I hope Madonna doesn’t hold this against me, and I hope Harry Styles won’t laugh when I fall face first in front of him. I’d rather run into Harry and make a fool of myself.”

“Well that didn’t take long! Why on earth would you pick making a fool of yourself over opening for Madonna??” But James isn’t really surprised much.

“I did answer that too quickly didn’t I? And I dunno, there’s just something about Harry that I think it’d be nice to have a conversation with him, after I apologise for falling down.”

“Wait, you’re the one on the floor and YOU’LL be apologising to HIM??”

“I don’t know!! It’s the polite think to do.”

“You really are something else. But I guess it makes sense you pick Harry. He’s a great guy. Good heart, great looking too don’t you think?”

“He’s handsome, yes!” Y/N starts to gush.

And the way she begins to describe him is like she’s talking about him to her friends. She goes on and on about how nice he must be and how she’s heard nothing but good things. She tells James how she’s looked up to him as a human being since before she got big in the music industry.

“I think he’s just great all around!”

“But you haven’t even met him.” James is sure to dig at this topic, eager to hear what more she has to say about the heartthrob.

“Well I’ve heard loads of stories about how down to earth he is. And I know this sounds crazy, and you probably won’t believe me, but for some reason it’s like I do know him. Or at least like I’ve met him in another life.”

James can’t ignore the glint in her eye as she talked about him, a tone in her voice so sincere he can believe her when she says she feels like she’s met him before. And the way James is looking at her, not in any type of way like he thinks she’s completely bonkers, makes her blush.

“Oh god. James tell me you’ll edit all that out! I will kill you if that airs!”

“Oí, now my life is at stake if I don’t!”

***

When Y/N wakes up to the abnormal ringing from her phone, she doesn’t think much of it. She reaches a hand out and silences the device, not bothering to even glance at the screen. But then the buzzing begins, and she wouldn’t have been bothered if not for the fact that it won’t settle down.

All she really wants to do is sleep. She’s been doing promo non stop for the new album that she’s been looking forward to this day, her schedule clear, the only thing to do for the day is sleep. But seeing as it doesn’t look like she’s gonna get much rest with her phone buzzing like crazy,(and she would turn it off if she hadn’t put an alarm to catch the episode of Carpool Karaoke that she starred in), she reaches over for her phone, the notifications being replaced by the second with new ones.

Her eyes skim her mentions on Twitter, and oh god why!! She just wants to bury herself underneath the blankets and stay there forever. It was one thing to admire Harry Styles, but for the world to know…for Harry to know. She’s never even had a conversation with the guy and now he’s probably gonna think she’s a crazed fan.

She should really call James up and give him an ear full, but it’s out there and no amount of words she yells his way are going to change that. So she turns off her phone instead, now more than ever she needs to take the time to relax and think of how she’s going to avoid ever meeting Harry Styles.

***

Y/N doesn’t much get the chance to go out by herself, whether it be out for a jog or out for a bite, she usually has someone tag along with her. But she’s been feeling the need to have lunch by herself, and enjoy her own company. So when she arrives at the restaurant and sees a swarm of paparazzi across the street, she takes note to maintain her head low and make her way inside as quick as possible, but not once does it cross her mind as to why the irregular amount of photographers. That is until her shoulder clashes with a body too strong to ignore with out looking up to apologise to.

And she opens her mouth, but the words “sorry” don’t seem to come out, they get caught in her throat instead.

“Sorry, M'sorry ‘bout tha’, love.” And he reaches out to touch her shoulder, his hand warm on her skin. But she stays quiet still, a smile on her face.

She offer a smile to say it’s okay, she’s fine, and she’s ready to walk away before Harry calls after her, making her turn around to look at him.

And wow he’s tall. And she’s pictured meeting him a dozen times, but in her mind the situation’s always been hectic, never this casual.

“'Ello.” He gives a small wave, and takes the few steps forward to meet her. He stands hunched in front of her, his arms open at the last few strides, and with out a second thought, he’s engulfing her into a hug, his arms around her waist and his chin set on her shoulder. She can’t do much other than wrap her arms around his neck to welcome his hug. His body is warm on hers, a hug so tight she can’t remember the last time she shared a hug this amazing with anyone.

And Harry knows he’s testing his limits. It’s their first encounter and he’s hugging her like they’ve known each other for ages, but like it might be the only time he ever gets to have his arms around her. So he lingers a bit, smiling into her hair, and he’s glad to feel her relax into him, feel the air leaving her lips on his collarbone as she buries her face into his neck.

Y/N is screaming at herself inside her head. Why is she still not saying anything. She really hopes she doesn’t think she’s being rude, it’s just that she’s completely star struck. But he doesn’t seem bothered or phased by it. Instead he takes it upon himself to make conversation as he smiles down at her.

“Watched ye’ with James the other day.”

And she still doesn’t know what to say, only this time the embarrassment escalates with the addition of her cheeks burning, and she can only imagine how flushed she must look.

Harry only smiles at her reaction, proud at himself for that, but he won’t admit to it. The only reason why James had even brought him up during their ride was because Harry had mentioned Y/N once…maybe twice..or more. And yeah he’d never had a proper conversation with her, but that didn’t mean he didn’t want to meet her. He’d heard amazing things about her, and he’d be lying if he said he didn’t watch her in interviews often. So yeah, Harry feels accomplished at the fact that he can make her blush.

“M'honoured tha’ ye’ look up t'me. And that you picked me over Madonna.” He chuckles, giving her a half smirk. Is he trying to make her uncomfortable? She smiles anyway, nodding in shame and averting her eyes to the ground.

“I’d probably be too nervous to open for her anyway.”

“Woah, she talks.” This time a laugh.

And if he felt accomplished before, hearing her laugh makes it even better.

“Was g'na have some lunch on my own. Would rather ye’ join me. Up fo’ it?”

“Would love that, yes.”

So he leads her to a table, his palm on her lower back. And like the gentleman he is, he pulls out her chair for her and then sits directly in front of her.

“For what it’s worth, I’d asked James to cut out the bit where I went on about you.”

“Wha’? Oh tha’ hurts.”

“Oh no no, I just didn’t want that to be a thing.”

“S'okay m'just messin’ with ye’.”

“Oh ha-ha make fun of me. But at least give me credit for not falling face first!”

And Harry laughs at that.

And through out lunch he laughs at all her jokes, and she laughs at his. And he realises he quite enjoys her laugh, and her company. It feels so genuine. And he must admit it’s quite hard to make friends now a days, he usually only frequently hangs out with people he already knows. But he finds himself wanting to go out with Y/N more.

So when lunch is over and they’re getting ready to split ways, he offers her his number and promises to pick up whenever she calls.

I have a Valentine's Day based idea! sorry if it's stupid lolol Basically viktor has planned a day to show yuuri how many people love him to help him understand that he is valued and to help with his anxiety of not being good enough (cause vday can be platonic too!!) but yuuri wakes up and has other plans ;)) and Eros mode is switched on - viktor wants to tell him it's not the best idea BC people might come in but obvs he can't resist ;)) (you decide whether they're caught or not) <3333

Victor had it all planned out. He really did. He just wanted to show Yuuri how important he was, not only to Victor, but to everyone else in his life. Sometimes Yuuri needed to be reminded that it wasn’t only Victor who got his ‘life and love’ from him. What better day to show him that than on Valentine’s Day. A day of love.

It was supposed to start with a phone-call from Yuuri’s family back home in Japan. They were going to tell him how much they loved him and how much they missed him. And afterwards, Victor was going to give Yuuri a plane ticket home for a long-weekend in a couple months to see them. He wanted to tell Yuuri that his family loved him and missed him.

Then he’d planned for them to take a walk down to the coffeeshop just around the corner with Maccachin where he’d give Yuuri a new collar he’d bought for the poodle. One that had a tag with engraved with: ‘if found, please call Victor and Yuuri at…’. It was supposed to show Yuuri how much a part he was of Victor’s small family.

Phichit was supposed to call Yuuri after coffee. He’d even asked for a specific time so they wouldn’t be caught in the middle of walking or order coffee. He was going to tell Yuuri how much he missed rooming with him - their late night talks. After, Victor was going to show Yuuri the website he’d been looking at for new couches. Big ones that could fold out into a bed, so when (not if) friends came to visit, they could stay with Yuuri and Victor.

After that, (and Victor had allowed extra time because Phichit really liked to talk sometimes), they were supposed to head back home where Yurio was going to visit. He was going to stop by on his way to practice and he was going to actually tell Yuuri how much he’d looked up to him in his youth (Victor had bribed him with the promise of choreography for next season). He was going to going to actually use his words to explain how dear Yuuri was to him. And Victor was going to suggest putting together an exhibition piece with all three of them in honour of their strange family dynamic.

Then they were all supposed to head over to breakfast with Mila, Yurio and Georgi. Victor was going to show Yuuri a video he’d had the triplets back in Hasetsu make with the videos from his phone. He’d already watched it. It was heartwarming. It included scenes of well-wishes from friends at home (Yuuko, Minami, and Minako), and internationally (Guang-hong, Leo, Chris and Phichit, mostly) interspersed with snippets of rink time here in Russia where Yuuri was laughing and skating with his fellow rink-mates.

Everything was supposed to fall into place. He’d planned it perfectly, he was sure. He wanted to make Yuuri’s heart swell with warmth and joy. Give him something to hold onto when his anxiety became too much; something Victor could remind him of when he was feeling particularly unsettled. It was the perfect sentiment for Valentine’s Day: the day of love, no matter the form. He’d planned it so the morning was for friends and family, an Agape love, with the evening reserved for him and a more Eros sentiment.

It was supposed to be perfect. But Yuuri had made plans of his own.

Victor gasps up at Yuuri as he slides his naked body smoothly over Victor’s as soon as their alarm rings.

“Good morning,” he purrs, eyes dilated and aroused. He’s put on his full Eros persona and is giving Victor a show.

“Yuuri-” Victor moans. Half of him wants to push his fiancé off, tell him to get dressed in time for his family’s call. The other half of him wants to see where this is going.

“Shhh,” Yuuri grins, pressing a finger to Victor’s lips. “I have a Valentine’s gift I want to give you.” Victor isn’t going to refuse that. And then Yuuri does something with his mouth that drives any coherent thoughts from his mind

Ten minutes later, when his phone chimes with the call. Yuuri turns on the ‘do not disturb’ function, then throws it behind their pillows somewhere where it’ll be lost for half a day. Victor doesn’t even care. Not when Yuuri’s looking at him that way. Not when Yuuri’s captured his attention so thoroughly.

It’s only two hours later, when Victor’s hands are tied up and out of the way, and he’s in a blissed-out state - Yuuri is gasping above him - does he hear the harsh slide of jingling keys in the lock of their apartment.

“Oh, shit, shit,” He curses, “Yuuri, please, love,” he cries, “we need to-”

“Eyes on me only,” Yuuri demands, grabbing Victor’s chin roughly and pulling his attention back to his lover above him, unaware of what’s about to happen.

Victor hopes dearly Yurio won’t just barge in on them because he’s powerless to stop Yuuri’s Eros right now. Yurio had been reluctant to take the keys to the apartment they’d given him months ago for his very reason - he doesn’t ever want to walk in on them.

“Oiiii,” Yurio calls from the kitchen, “You guys back yet? Lets get this over with. I’m starving. I wanna go for breakfast.”

Yuuri doesn’t even falter in his rhythm, just raising one eyebrow as if to ask Victor ‘breakfast?’.

“Yurio!” Victor calls out in the most even voice he can muster. “Just go ahead to breakfast by yourself! We’ll meet with you there!”

“Huh? Why?” Yurio calls through the door. “I thought you wanted me to confess all that sappy shit to Yuuri. I’m not doing that in public.”

“Sappy shit?” Yuuri asks quietly, but Victor ignores him for a second.

“Please, just-” he tires to explain, but breaks off with a gasp as Yuuri twists one of his nipples.

There’s a pause where Victor’s sure Yurio’s right outside their bedroom door. It takes less than a second for Yurio to realizes what’s happening. “Are you fucking KIDDING ME?” He all-but shrieks. “Oh my god! I’m leaving. And you’re taking your key back at breakfast!” He yells, just before he slams their front door shut.

“I ah, think we should finish up soon here,” Victor says reluctantly, turning his attention back to Yuuri. “We’re supposed to meet for breakfast. Actually, I had this whole romantic morning planned out-” he tries to explain. He’s afraid for a moment that Yuuri will be to embarrassed to continue.

But his lover just smirks. “They can wait.”

PART 1

~*~*~*~*~

Friday arrives much faster than anticipated. It’s a warm, brisk morning, the sunlight raining down and painting  Massachusetts with a summery essence. Fallen leaves litter the yards of suburban homes and a canopy of those that remain is spread across the road, only a few dots of light peering through.

“Textbook illustration of the apple-pie life.” Dean remarks as he steers the car down a long strip of tarmac. “God…it’s making me sick already.”

“Hold it down. You know I don’t want you throwing up on any of my family members.” Y/N admonishes, letting her gaze avert from watching the houses roll by and unto the elder Winchester; today, despite her attempts to persuade him,  he’s still settled on wearing his usual hunter get-up—jeans and a plaid (obviously)—and his chin is adorned with a feint patch of stubble. His eyes are set on the road, focused, but she don’t miss the way his mouth quirks up at the remark.

Sam laughs as his eyes follow the array of little homes. “Noted.” He says. “Anything else Dean needs to know should probably be voiced out right now. You don’t want him making a fool out of himself around your family either.”

“We talked about this already last night.” The elder Winchester groans.

“No cussing around my mom, no crude jokes, saying the grace is a must, and—“

“And be sure to talk politics with your dad. Yes, I got all of that the first hundred times you told me.” Dean, rolling his eyes, makes a turn for the left and Y/N heaves a sigh of relief. They pass a group fo teenagers walking to school (way too late).

“Okay.” Y/N sighs, then raises her finger for emphasis. “Oh—also, be sure to try and interact with all my brothers. They love that.”

“We’ve met your family before, Y/N.” Sam’s eyes never leave his screen as he twiddles away at his phone.

They had; at the birth of her hunting career with the boys, years back, Y/N had had to make trip down to Massachusetts to handle a siren case that the Winchester’s provided extra muscle for. Their time in town had been spent at her parents’ home.

“I know, but this is different.” She defends. “Dean is….” She pauses, eyes skittering over to the elder Winchester for not so much as a second before they return. “….my boyfriend. Or pretending to be my boyfriend. There’s going to be a lot of pressure.”

“Your folks don’t seem like the type.”

“I just want to rub it in their faces that I’m.”—she raises her hands in finger quotes—“not single anymore so that they’ll get off my case.”

The elder Winchester nods slowly, pulling a face. “Makes sense.”

“Not really.”

“Shut up, Sam.”

The younger Winchester finally lifts his head from his phone. His gaze bounces from Y/N to Dean. “What did Cas say, by the way?”

“About tagging along?” Dean casts a brief glance into the backseat. “Not much. He said that he doesn’t see why we need him there anyway. I told him Y/N’s sister was getting married and she gets to bring a couple of friends, and seeing as we’re the only ones she has…” He trails off. Y/N then smacks him on the shoulder, earning a satisfied smile. “I’m kidding. Kind of. I told him that we want him to come with.”

“And he said no?”

Dean shrugs and continues to drive. The conversation ends there for a moment, and once a silence spreads throughout the car, Dean tunes the radio on and Y/N turns her head to the window.

Trees and houses and roads oh so familiar from her childhood escapades through this tone roll by. Streets, cafes. Although vast and very busy, she knows this place like the back of her hand; the local pool where their family used to go on weekends, the private schools she bounced between. Just down the road, wedged in the valley nearby are the woods where she encountered her first monster at the tender age of sixteen.

So many memories. So much attachment. Y/N hates Massachusetts more than anything; because it reminds her of how idyllic her life was before she started hunting. It reminds her of people and of places and everything the rest of her peers experienced that she didn’t get to; hunting whisked her away from her life, stripped her of a regular teenage hood. But then again, she’s not complaining.

She chose this life. She chose Sam and Dean. She loves Sam and Dean. You can tell her that the sky is red and that pigs fly and she’ll still believe all that first before she believes that they boys are anything but her family.

Boston is a few kilometers off the highway, down a winding road lined by thick trees and shrubbery, and with a few residential buildings scattered around. Despite being a large neighborhood dotted with mansions and the like, it’s a lot quieter. The rumble of the Impala’s engine is evident as Dean, instructed by Y/N, steers his way through. The outline of the city is painted against the canvas of the bright blue sky as they approach. The traffic, taken the time of day, is minimal and so they manage to get to the hotel in time.

In the parking, Dean kills the engine immediately, and then, heaving a heavy sigh, turns to Y/N.

His face speaks no ounce of nervousness, which only makes the young girl’s stomach coil into a tighter knot. She wants him to be nervous. One of them has to, and Dean’s placidity leaves room for only her own anxiety. “So….?”

“So…” She replies, trying to ease away her own nerves. Her hands feel clammy and the back of her neck is hot.  “Just don’t be nervous, yeah? My parents are like predators—they can smell your anxiety a mile away.”

“Not helping.”

“Not supposed to.”

“I feel like I should be telling that you, Y/N.” Dean remarks. “You’re shaking like a leaf.”

“No, I’m not.” She is. It’s a terrible lie and very evidently so, but thankfully none of the boys say anything. Instead, however, Dean reaches out and envelopes her hand in his. Y/N then stills, and feels the color drain from her face.

The contact is warm, assuring. Her hands slides perfectly into his and their fingers intertwine, palms pressed flat.

“We’re gonna kick ass.” Dean says confidently. Y/N doesn’t hear him—she’s looking at him, staring him dead in the eye, but the words enter one ear and fly out the other because her hand is in his and it’s nice.

It’s nice.

They’ve never held hands before, not like this. Dean guiding her through a dark path on a hunt, Y/N pulling him with her as she runs from a vampire. Their hands have definitely touched before, and their skin has definitely grazed before, but this is so alien to Y/N, because it feels nice and like everything that it’s not supposed to.

Dean stares into the young girl’s gaze as he tugs on her hand, offering a brief smile. “Come on.” He goes to open the door. “We’re gonna be late.”

Once his hand leaves hers, it’s like her trance has been diminished, like spell once cast over her has been broken. She floats back to reality. Sam is hauling their bags out from the trunk, she realizes, and Dean is trying to fit as many weapons into his luggage (just in case) as he can. She quickly gets out. The hotel, adorned with a very tropical theme, is down a strip of cobbled path with a few plants at the sides. Y/N follows the Winchesters, trying to keep the pace, when she hears Dean call to her.

She turns. “Huh?”

“Give me your bag.” He says, his hand open as they walk. Y/N stares at him for a moment, eyes glazed over. She’s still a bit dazed. Looking at Dean now feels alien and almost unreal, like she’s looking in one of those funny funhouse mirrors. Maybe it’s just the stress of this wedding, or the heat, she thinks, trying to brush it off

“Oh, uhm.”

“I got it.”But before she can speak, Sam plucks the rucksack from her and hoists it up on his back. Dean scoffs.

“Wow, Sam.”He rolls his eyes as they approach the hotel. Towering above them, it’s a giant of a building, quaint balconies perched up on room, it’s years and history written out in the way vines climb in slender tendrils along the stone walls. Inside, the ceiling climbs so high one might think it reaches the heavens

“Maybe Y/N should have asked you to play her boyfriend instead.” Dean remarks as they stroll in. The place is packed; an eclectic cloud of people roams the room, all with their luggage in hand.

Sam smirks. “Maybe she should have.”

“The reception’s over there.”

Y/N points to the desk ahead. Shuffling through the crowd, the trio makes their way over to the counter, the receptionist smiling at them. She’s young, probably older than them, but still her skin is taut and plump and her brown eyes gleam as she speaks. She types something into the computer and in a moment heir rooms are assigned, all courtesy of her family. Sam has agreed to carry everything upstairs and meet them at the lounge, so Y/N and Dean decide the time alone can be used to go over their ground rules again.

They wander over to the bar, a noticeable distance between them. The room is ambient, lit up by little warm lights suspended from the high-set ceiling despite it being day. Slow jazz music floats through the crowded room. As soon as they settle down, swarming like locusts in a field, the waiters come over, all trying to fix a menu in their faces until Dean ushers them away and says that they’re not hungry. Y/N is a little bit disappointed—she hasn’t eaten all morning—but says nothing, instead focusing on the man before her.

“Can I cuss around your sister?” Dean asks as he leans back in his seat.

Y/N nods vigorously, her expression saying that the answer is quite obvious. “S/P/N’s got a mouth like a sailor. A little profanity won’t hurt. Not around my parents though.”

“Not around your mum…?”

“Not around either.” She says. “They hate it, think it makes you look delinquent.”

Dean nods thoughtfully, then goes on asking various questions. Time seems to drift by unnoticed, the conversation bouncing from one end to another like a ball in a tennis court.

“Can I drink?”

“Sure.”

“Smoke…?”

Y/N wrinkles her brow in uncertainty. “You don’t smoke.” She says; it’s a firm statement, a proclamation rather than a question

“But if I had to?“

“Fine.” The young girl lets out an exaggerated sigh.  Dean chuckles. The sound is precise and brief but still manages to bring a shy smile to her face.  Moments later, the table has quieted for some reason, so Y/N lifts her gaze to Dean, regarding him curiously. She knows that look—it’s hard not to when she’s seen it so many times, with Sam or Cas, or even first hand. Gaze set on the floor, his lip is tucked between his teeth and he runs his tongue over his lips, his contemplation evident until he finally looks up.

“So,” The elder finally allows their eyes to meet. “What about us? You know…our boundaries, instructions. Do’s and don’ts. What do we say if we get the stereotypical how did you meet quiz?”

“Doesn’t really matter.” She waves a dismissive hand and then leans back in her seat. The fiber of the backrest presses into her back, crackling quietly. “My parents already know we met through hunting, but we could always just use some other cover with my other relatives.”

“So we lie?”

She quirks a teasing brow and smiles. “You have no problem lying that you’re an FBI agent basically every day. Lying that you met me on vacation or something can’t really be that hard…?”

“Where was our vacation to?”

“So we’re settling on the vacation-thing?”

Dean shrugs. “Any other options? I’m sorta just following here. It’s your plan.”

“Don’t say it like that. We’re a team, Dean.”

“Right, almost forgot that.” The elder Winchester chuckles and shakes his head. “Okay. What if we met on unconventional grounds? Maybe I nearly ran your dog over and you got pissed, so you tried flagging down my car and threatened to press charges. You didn’t, of course. My good looks and wit managed to persuade you into changing your mind and just having dinner with me instead.”

Y/N rolls her eyes at the green-eyed hunter, her mouth quirked upwards. “Is that your definition of romance? It sounds like bad lifetime movie.”

“It’s realistic.”

“It’s dumb.”

Dean pouts, then folds his arms and leans back in the chair. “Whatever.” He grumbles. “You think something up then.”

“Vacation it is.”

“You’re insufferable.”

A wide grin stretches across Y/N’s face and she revels in the victory, when Sam walks up. He comes up from behind her, the only indication of his arrival being the way Dean’s eyes dart to the space past her seat.

“You guys aren’t eating?”  He asks, pulling out a seat from the table nearby. He sits and turns to Dean.

“Do you want to?” The elder Winchester looks to Y/N—he’s asking her.

Opening her mouth to speak, she’s about to decline (because they don’t have time to sit and eat anyway), but the grumbling in her stomach reminds her of her hunger. The sound is embarrassingly loud. Her mouth instantly shuts, and Dean’s eyes widen.

“Shut up.” Y/N chastises as her cheeks are swarmed with pink. The elder Winchester doesn’t listen. He begins to howl with laughter, clasping his stomach, and Sam snickers along with him.

“Whatever.” She turns her head, scowling, as his laughter begins to melt away. Leaning back in his seat, little bubbles of laughter escape him, and he lifts his hand.

“Waiter.”He calls. A few feet away, with long curly blond hair, one of the servers from earlier turns. Dean’s ruddy face smiles at him as he calls him over. He scuttles over, a polite smile on his face.

“Yes, sir?”

“What do you want, Y/N?” Dean’s voice is ribbing and smug.

“Shut up.” The young girl rolls her eyes and turns her attention to the waiter. He’s young and his face is dotted with little pink spots of acne. She orders a chicken salad, just like Sam, and Dean goes for stake. Moments later, the food arrives, hot and scented with herbs and spices.

They eat and then, stuffed and satisfied, head up to their rooms to get cleaned up. Y/N just got a call from her parents asking where they are, that they’ve been waiting on them for a while now and everyone is already arriving

when they finally get to their room, Sam waiting out in the hallway, she and the elder Winchester hurry to get ready. Y/N curls her hair and throws on some mascara while Dean runs a quick shower.

“Okay, this is it.” She says, standing by the bed; the light from outside floods the area, bringing out the very delicate and chic design: the walls, painted mocha brown, are adorned with little trinkets and the bedspread is a light toffee color. There’s a potted palm in one of the corners, candles practically everywhere, and the wooden floor is warm beneath her bare feet.

“Operation Wedding Crasher is in pursuit.” Y/N says to Dean

Standing in the bathroom, he’s just gotten out of the shower and is trying to fix his hair, running his fingers through it and muttering profanities beneath his breath. She’d insisted that he changed—taken how many outfits he’s recycled, she’s pretty sure he wore that very one years ago when he first met her parents

“Roger that.” He takes one last look in the mirror, checking his stubble and hair, then walks over to the bed where his shirt sits.

Y/N tries not to stare at his bare-chested form as he quickly slips on the shirt, the front undone and exposing his caramel-colored skin. Instead, she clears her throat and turns away. This is the only way; if she doesn’t, she’s going to end up drooling a puddle on the floor or letting her gaze linger for too long, and that’s the last thing she needs right now. As if things weren’t awkward enough back in the car.

She then looks down at her hand, once encased in Dean’s, the marks from her battles with monster’s still there. There’s a little crescent shaped scar sticking out in her palm that speaks of a hunt years ago, a hunt with a rugaroo that ended in tears and blood and Y/N clasping onto Dean’s shirt for dear life. It’s hard to forget. She can recall getting it, can remember the pain of having to kill that young girl because of the abomination she had come, can still taste the blood on her tongue and feel the pain in her hand.

This life has left her with various moments like that. It’s a packaged deal when you’re a hunter, a sort of terms-and-conditions scenario, to have at least one hunt that has managed to strip you of normality. Something that took you over the line that separates you from the regular world—that was it for Y/N. She was it. That girl couldn’t have been older than seventeen. Having her blood on her hands had definitely been the initiation into the hunter’s game for Y/N.

She has been through so much in her time as a hunter and it shows; on her face and on her body. On her hands. She runs a finger along the tissue, watching it intently. Dean is speaking in the background, saying something to her that she can’t decipher because she forgets to for a moment, until the memory nudges at her conscience once more. The rugaroo hunt. Her scar.

It had been Dean to help her that night. It had been him and his nobility to carry her out of that house before she could bleed out; it had been him and his care, his selflessness, that got her to the car parked miles away from the woods they were in; it had been Dean to stop the bleeding and the tears that seemed to rain from her eyes after she killed that young girl and it had been his hands to cloth the wound in her own.

It had been and it will always be Dean, because Dean is her family.

“Y/N?” He says, pulling her from her reverie.

The young girl immediately looks up and whips around, facing the elder Winchester who is already dressed and ready to go. Y/N’s eyes widen; she doesn’t say it, but the outfit change was definitely a good idea.

Because wow.

Her eyes rake up and down the green-eyed hunter’s structure, taking in the sight of his crisp burgundy button up and dress pants—he looks stunning. He always looks stunning. It’s not weird for Y/N to say because it’s Dean and everyone notices his attractiveness upon first encounter, but this is a whole different case. It’s still him, of course. His eyes are still vibrant green, breaching into a hazel-gold, and his hair is still chestnut brown and his smile and his heart and everything Dean Winchester is still evidently there, but it’s just…different, like looking at the same thing but from a different angle.

“Uhm…” He draws out after a while.

Y/N looks back up to his eyes; her face then flushes and she swallows. “Sorry, uh” She stumbles, clasping her hands together and trying to regain her composure”—you were saying?”

Dean is smirking. “I look that good, huh?”

“Oh, shut up.”

He chuckles. The first few buttons of his shirt are popped and you can see a patch of caramel-tinted skin peering out at you, a feint scar on his collarbone adding some extra touch. “I was saying that we should get going. Sam’s already waiting up for us.”

“Right. Uhm, so we’ve gone over everything, yeah? You get the plan?”

“Yes. Act like we’re dating.”

“Act like we’re in love.” Y/N corrects as she grabs her satchel from the bed and goes to Dean at the door. She stands, body facing him. “There’s a big difference. My parents are going to be all over my case for these two weeks if they see that you and I don’t have any chemistry.”

“We already do, though.” He defends.

“Whatever. Then let’s amp it up—mega chemistry.”

“Mega chemistry, huh?”

“Yeah.” She smiles; it’s goofy and a bit shy because, God, did she really just say that?

But Dean doesn’t seem to mind, because his lips turn up to and he shakes his head. “Dork.”

“Let’s go.”

Y/N goes to open the door, her hand hovering right above the knob when Dean cuts in.

“Can I hold your hand?” He asks.

The young girl then stills and her hand floats away from the door. She stares at him; his voice is calm and collected, like he’s asking her what’s the time or how she is.

“You…want to hold my hand?” Y/N’s uncertainty is evident.

Shrugging, he pulls a face, an expression that says no duh, why not.“Yeah.” He answers. “We are trying to portray that mega-chemistry, aren’t we?”

“We are.”

“Yeah…so.”

She feels him reach out, like it’s happening in slow motion, like she can’t do anything, and take her hand in his. Their skin grazes and fingers lace. His hand is far bigger than hers, rougher, too, but it’s a satisfying contrast as the butterflies in her chest are roused.

Dean’s smile is ribbing and smug and Y/N’s heart is in her as she feels her palms clam up. He opens the door and they step out into the hallway, the heat immediately smacking onto them. Sam is leaning against the wall, typing away at his phones, and he looks up when he notices their presence.

A smile twists at his lips. “There’s the happy couple.”

“Shut it.” Dean says, smirking as they begin to saunter down the strip of corridor.  Y/N is trying to mollify her feelings, rinsing them away, trying to rationalize why they’re even here in the first place. They shouldn’t be. She shouldn’t be getting so worked up over something like this, but it’s hard to. The past few days, with this wedding situation overhead, have been nerve-wracking—could that be it? she wonders. Could those anxieties be the cause of her frazzled emotions?

But she doesn’t have time to ruminate. The elevator takes them to the ground floor and they shuffle out once the doors open, Sam and Dean talking about how weirdly excited they are about meeting Y/N’s family as they walk through the ballroom and then out into the garden. . Picnic benches are set up across the expanse of greenery and evergreen trees sprout from the ground all around. There are cobbled paths through and fairy lights (currently off) strung up between branches willows. She remembers this place from when her dad would bring her along on workshops and send her out here to play.

Y/N notices her mother first.

Her hair is an ashy blond, curled into a bob, and she’s wearing a white caftan and jeans. She’s smiling, laughing at the table cluttered with familiar faces. Only about two or three people are strangers to her.

Then, as if instinctively, she clutches Dean’s hand tighter in hers. He then casts a brief glance at her, one of caution, worry, almost, and Y/N meets his gaze.

“I’m nervous.” She admits, visibly gulping.

His eyes regard her curiously. “Why?”

If only she knew. But she doesn’t, so Y/N only shrugs and looks back ahead. When they’re a few feet away from the table, that’s when S/P/N notices them because, gleaming like the sun in a salmon colored dress, she rises from her seat and welcomes them with a smile.

“Y/N!”
