“Her name is Rio and she dances in the sand. Just like that river twisting through the dusty land. And when she dances she really shows you all she can. Oh Rio, Rio dance across the Rio Grande.” Can anyone honestly tell me that they don’t like Duran Duran because if they can I don’t think I can fucking trust them. With songs like Ordinary World, Rio, Hungry Like The Wolf, and Come Undone, what’s there not to love? Well just like that band, Novo Brazil has created something that is also damn near impossible not to love and I’m so psyched that this is the first of several beers these folks were awesome enough to send out. Since they are a Brazilian inspired brewery out of San Diego, I’m going to guess that this beer is named after Rio de Janeiro considering it is one of the most visited cities in the southern hemisphere but we’ll just leave out the whole crime and robbery and murder thing just so it doesn’t give this beer a negative perception. This is one hell of a starting point into Novo Brazil’s lineup and if you get a chance to snag a colorful can you better or else you’ll get shanked by a Brazilian. I’m not kidding. I have 4 scars on my stomach because it took me this long to get my hands on it and it does not fucking tickle. Those little bastards twist after they stab! Anyways, this has a smooth malt sweetness to start before some light hop flavors mix in bringing an almost citrus rind brightness with some floral notes and bitterness before more light malt mixes in giving this an almost pilsner-like finish to it. This is definitely a more subdued example of the style but it also makes it sessionable as hell so I’d highly recommend this for those new to the style. If you are a pro and are looking for your next favorite party APA look no further because I did the searching for you so that will cost you $50 for my finders fee. DM me for my Venmo info. Cheers!

  • Nagisa: (entering from his bedroom) Morning.
  • All: Hey.
  • Kayano: Somebody got in late last night.
  • Nagisa: Yeah well, I ran into Karma.
  • (They all gasp)
  • Sugino: When did this happen?
  • Nagisa: Oh, um, around 8:02. We ah, talked for a little while, and then um, we went out for an innocent burger.
  • Rio: Oh, there’s no such thing as an innocent burger.
