Blueski for the question thing please and thank you!!!! :)

oh wow i can’t believe i got another ask for one of these ask memes!  thank you!  i was writing my wolfie appreciation fic, but i’ll do this right now!

blueski headcanons for this post (http://timisaliar.tumblr.com/post/161481241932/send-a-ship-and-ill-tell-you-who)

  • Gives nose/forehead kisses
    • oh goodness they both do this so much.  i guess riley?  like will loves to kiss riley pretty much anywhere he can reach, but riley especially loves to give will sweet, affectionate kisses on the nose in the morning when he struggling to wake up.
  • Gets jealous the most
    • will haha.  riley had a lot of shitty relationships after magnus, so she’s just kinda blah about the whole thing.  (that and she knows will would never cheat because she’s got him wrapper around her little finger.)  will knows riley would never cheat either, but he gets protective of her when people try to hit on her after dj gigs.
  • Picks the other up from the bar when they’re too drunk to drive
    • will again.  riley doesn’t drive.  will never asks her to.
  • Takes care of on sick days
    • they do this pretty much equally.  riley is naturally a very nuturing person, and will has the savior complex thing down pat.
  • Drags the other person out into the water on beach day
    • riley brings will to a beach off the english coast one day that is far too cold for will’s liking.  but she loves the sea, and this is nothing compared to iceland, so she pulls him in with her.  (if will’s honest, he’s not exactly mad.  anything to see her that excited.)
  • Gives unprompted massages
    • will massages riley’s feet after long nights at clubs.  this is pretty much an unspoken thing between them after a while, it becomes so routine.
  • Drives/rides shotgun
    • answered above with the drinking question
  • Brings the other lunch at work
    • riley brings will lunch at work when he’s stuck on duty.  she’s usually just waking up around 12 or 1 pm anyway due to dj hours, so it’s perfect timing.
  • Has the better parental relationship
    • i’d have to say riley.  her dad is just adorable.  he loves will the moment he sees how much will loves riley.
  • Tries to start role-playing in bed
    • oh jesus probably riley.  i can’t imagine will initiating roleplay for some reason.  he’s pretty much just into whatever riley’s into.
  • Embarrassingly drunk dancer
    • lol will.  riley is used to dancing on much harder stuff than booze, and will is comparatively a lightweight.
  • Still cries watching Titanic
    • riley, but wil won’t admit his eyes get misty.
  • Firmly believes in couples costumes
    • riley is a sucker for couple’s costumes.  she makes will dress up with her to go to a gig once, just for the lulz.
  • Breaks the expensive gift rule during Christmas
    • will.  he buys riley a stunning necklace.  it’s a small, sparkling sapphire on a silver chain.  riley wants to be mad he broke the rule, but she can’t help but love it.
  • Makes the other eat breakfast
    • not breakfast exactly, but will makes sure riley remembers to bring snacks and water to every gig so she doesn’t get tired or dehydrated.  their lifestyles don’t really lend to breakfast together.
  • Remembers anniversaries
    • riley lol.  will is so not good at anniversaries.
  • Brings up having kids
    • riley.  will doesn’t dare bring it up.  not after the memories they shared.  he doesn’t want to hurt her.  but after a while, when things die down and everyone is safe and she knows that this really is her new life, riley tells will that she still wants to be a mother.  he cries with joy.
Because I Want You

Inspired by this post.

lucayacanons They end up being the couple that are really lowkey. you never know how nice they are to each other when they’re laying down on Lucas’ bed listening to possibly the only band either of them likes with an untouched pizza on the edge of the bed that Lucas had his mom order. you never see them kiss or hug or anything in public because they save doing all that for the simple yet thrilling nights in the southern boys room

And this prompt: art class, everyone is drawing the person sitting in the middle that there suppose too. But Maya is Maya and doesn’t wanna. Somehow without realizing it she starts drawing Lucas. It was out of habit, she does when she gets bored. & I think you could turn it into an amazing thing with your awesome writing

(Thank you Nonnie for your lovely compliment, it made me feel a little bit better considering how sick I’m feeling.)

Okay, so from these two things I put together:

So what if no one knows that Maya and Lucas are dating until they start trying to set the two of them up?

The Other Way Around: Part One

Rucas multichapter fic. Riley moves to New York from Philly her junior year of high school. Maya, Lucas, and Farkle have been the three best friends since forever. Maya wants to ask Lucas out, but the minute he sees Riley, all bets are off.

Junior year was just about to start. Maya, Lucas, and Farkle still couldn’t believe how strong their friendship was. The three of them had been inseparable since middle school. Farkle had gone to a science camp that took all summer, so Maya and Lucas the majority of the summer alone, together.

When Farkle got back, Maya regaled him with stories. She would not stop talking about Lucas. Farkle told Lucas about this, and urged him that maybe it was time the two of them got together. Lucas never really looked at Maya like that, but after this summer, he could see it.

They had heard something about getting a new teacher. All of them had signed up for a civics class, to at least have one elective together, so they were bummed when they heard one of their favorite teachers had retired.

It was the first day of junior year. Lucas and Farkle always got to school early. Maya had texted Lucas to wait for her near their lockers, she had something important she wanted to talk to him about.

“What do you think she wants to talk to you about?” Farkle asked Lucas as they walked into the school.

“Oh please, she already told you. She tells you everything first. So why don’t you tell me what she wants to talk about?”

“It’s not my place.”

“Does she want together?”

“What that be awful?”

“No…but I wouldn’t want to ruin the…holy shit.”

The two are in the middle of the hall when they see a long legged brunette walk by and fiddle with her locker. She had long, flowing hair. She was wearing a turquoise crop top, with black jeans and booties.

“Farkle, who is that?”

“I have no idea. Maybe she’s new. This is a pretty big school, you know?”

“It looks like she can’t get her locker open. She’s definitely new. I’m gonna go see if she needs help.”

Before Farkle could convince him to do otherwise, he was already by her side.

“Uh, hi there, need some help?”

The girl flipped her hair away from her face, in what seemed like slow motion, and looked at Lucas. There stood before him was one of the most beautiful girls he had ever seen.

“What would ever give you that idea?” She said sarcastically.

“The lockers here are pretty tricky. What’s your combo?”

“I can’t tell you that. If I tell you then you’ll be able to get into my locker anytime you want.” She says coyly, a slight smile going across her face.

“It’s either that or you’ll be carrying around a lot of heavy stuff all day everyday.”

“Four-twenty one- eighteen.”

Lucas did the combination, and it unlocked instantly.

“Wow, guess I missed how to do that at my special orientation.”

“The trick is to pass zero twice on the first number.”

“Hm, they said t only do it once on the paper.”

“Do you always believe everything you read.”

“No, actually, I don’t.”

She starting putting a bunch of different things in her locker. She hung up a little mirror, and put up some pictures of friends. She sighed when she looked at them.

“I’m Lucas by the way.”

“Riley!” A man said from down the hall, suddenly approaching. She rolled her eyes. “Didn’t your mother and I tell you to stop wearing those shirts when school started?”

“Dad,” She takes a deep breath, “You and mom both got new jobs out of the blue, causing us to uproot our lives. You ripped Auggie and I out of school, and away from all of our close friends. I think my rebelliousness is understandable right now, don’t you think?”

“How long are you going to keep throwing this in our faces?”

“Until I’m not angry anymore.” She slams her locker door shut.

The man shakes his head, and walks away.

“Your dad is the new teacher?”

“Yup. He’s actually a really good teacher, I’m just annoyed right now.”

“That’s fair. Is your mom a teacher too?”

“No, she’s a lawyer.”

Maya walked up to Farkle with a big smile on her face.

“Morning Farkle.”

“Morning Maya, you seem happy.”

“Today is the big day. I told Lucas I wanted to talk to him. I’m gonna ask him out. There was a spark this summer, and I know he felt it too. Who, who is talking too?”

“I’m not sure.”

“Oh, well, I’m about to end this.”

The two walk over to Lucas and Riley.

“Hi Lucas.” Maya says annoyed.

“Hey Maya.” He says, still looking at Riley.

“Um, we need to talk remember?”

“Oh, right,” He says turning to her a little, “What’s up?”

“Maya, I’m sort of talking to-”

“It’s okay, one of my friends is calling me. See you around.”

He watched the beauty walk away. How could someone make walking look like an art.

“Damn, I didn’t get to ask her what her schedule was.”

“What’s her name anyways?” Asks Farkle.

“Riley. Her dad is the new teacher.”

The bell rings.

“We’ll talk later, okay?” Lucas says to Maya as he rushes to his first class.

“You okay?”

“Do I look okay? I don’t know who that girl is, but it looks like she’s going to be a problem. I’ve waited too long for this, I’m not going to let him slip away.”

“Don’t you ever wonder what colors the different flowers are, Maya?”

“Hmmm, let me think about it,” Maya hummed out as she and Riley passed by a box of flowers on their way to the subway for their first day of 7th grade, “Nope, not really.”

As they swiped at the turnstile, Riley stopped to spin around and gesture at the different people, “What about them? Don’t you wonder what color their clothes are?” Pointing down at herself, “What about us? We could be wearing clothes the color of poop and we wouldn’t know!”

“Well, we kind of don’t know the color of poop either, sooooo…”

“My dad said to make the world my own, but how can I when it’s all in black and white?!”

“You learn to live with it.”

Undisturbed by the blonde’s response, Riley continued to lightly prance around the foreign subway station, “You know, my mom told me that she thinks my favorite color would be yellow and that hopefully I’ll get to see it soon.”

“Easy for her to say, she met her soulmate before she could basically even talk.”

Riley simply giggled as she followed her best friend into the subway car. She pulled out a tube of her favorite gloss, smelling it before applying it onto her lips, “I’m completely reinventing myself! I ride the subway now, I have kiwi lips now, and I’m just as cool as you now!…Though, I do wish I knew if my gloss had color to it…Do you think my lips might be some weird color?!”

Smirking at the brunette’s mix of confidence and panic, Maya looked over her best friend’s shoulder to see an attractive boy sitting at the priority seat,

“Why don’t you ask him?” Maya continued teasingly, “Who knows, he might even be the one to bring color into your world.”

“What are you talkin…Oh my.”

As Riley turned to look at who had caught Maya’s eye, she felt her head spin due to a rush of sudden new visuals as soon as she made eye contact with him. Her eyes were still on the boy, but instead of seeing black, white, and gray, she noticed that his hair was slightly darker than the wall to the right of him. It was a soft kind of color that, compared to her hair, was lighter. His teeth were white though, and she assumed that that was the color teeth should be.

Oh, but his eyes - she couldn’t place a color to them, but they were beautiful. She was so young, but she felt like she had known those eyes for centuries. Looking back down at his smile, she was surprised to see his teeth hidden from view. Instead, his mouth was open, sharing a similar expression to her own.

His own eyes bore into hers and suddenly, she felt that question she had asked Maya just moments ago hit her like a rock. What if her lips were some scary color?!

Her thoughts were disturbed by Maya grabbing her hand that was on the subway pole. Riley turned to face her best friend, whom she noticed had this beautiful bright color to her hair, “Maya?”

“What just happened?”

“I think, for once, you might have been right…”

Maya blinked before realization hit her as she watched Riley’s eyes dart all around the subway car, taking in the colors she had so desired to see. The blonde smirked, “Let’s make sure.” And gone was Riley’s grip on that pole.

The boy, who had been in a stupor, snapped out of it when he saw Riley stumbling near him. He caught her easily, bringing her into his lap and into safety.

Riley couldn’t believe it. His eyes had already been so beautiful from far away, but seeing them up close made her want to melt, “Hi…”

“I’m Lucas.” The white teeth were back.

“I love it.”

He placed her onto the seat next to him and for the whole train ride, Riley sat next to him. It was quiet, but Maya watched them both show their excitement differently. Riley’s grin was so wide that you could fit the rest of her life into it, while Lucas had a smile that was much more demure, but definitely there. They were both staring at their laps, but Maya knew they were good.

When Riley heard their stop for school, she wanted to cry. She made a move to get up and looked in surprise as the boy next to her did the same. Lucas looked back and the urge in him to smile was unbearable, flashing her yet another grin as she just stared, “I just moved here from Texas. I’m going to John Quincy Adams Middle School…?”

“You are?!” He nodded and Riley pointed excitedly to herself, “I go there, too! With Maya!” When she saw the slight confusion in his face, she moved her finger to point at the blonde, “Her! My best friend!”

Maya couldn’t help but laugh at her best friend’s excitement and gestured for them to get off the train before the doors closed. While they walked to school, she introduced herself to the boy that she knew would change Riley forever.

“Texas, huh? Watch out, cowboy, because Riley’s dad is going to be our history teacher!”

Lucas gulped at that, but couldn’t help but be happy at finding out the brunette’s name. Riley. That sounded really nice.

When they got to school, Lucas had to go to the main office, but promised to catch up. Riley skipped to class, no longer caring about having her father for a history teacher, and Maya followed along, just happy to see her best friend live the colorful life she deserved.

“Matthews, you’ve got a storm coming.”

Cory paused his writing on the board, “What do you mean by that, Maya?”

“Let’s just say that your daughter can see color now.”

Maya heard a growl from behind her and saw that Farkle, their resident genius, was the source, “She was supposed to be a Mrs. Farkle Minkus!”

“EXCUSE ME?” Cory screamed as it finally clicked.

“Daddy, aren’t you happy for me? I can finally stop asking you what color the walls of my room are!”

Before Cory could even respond, Lucas walked in, and as soon as the former looked at his daughter’s face, he knew.

Lucas looked around him, before staring in fear at the man before him. “M-Me?”

Unfortunately for him, Lucas couldn’t stop his smile, “Um, yes sir, I think I did.”

And as Riley watched her father chase her soulmate around the classroom, she couldn’t help but be excited for her future. She would finally find out what yellow looked like and she would definitely have to ask her mom what color Lucas’ eyes were. Oh, the perks of finding your soulmate at 12 years old.

Riarkle moments over the holidays or birthdays

I am so sorry! I had just finished writing this and my computer… deleted it. So it’s not as good as the first one, but I hope you enjoy! I know you said moments but with my track record lately that’d be an entire series of one-shots. I went with the one that I thought about when I first saw you prompt. A little bit fluffy, a little heartfelt, a lot of Cory shrieking. Enjoy!

Silent Night

Christmas Day was always a huge affair in the Matthews household. Alan and Amy came in from Philadelphia. They even coherced George and Lila to come with them as the former’s sister decided to go on a proper holiday. Josh had dropped in from university. Maya continued her (recent) tradition of coming accompanied by her mother. And even Shawn and Jonathon paid a visit for the evening. The small apartment had never felt more crowded than it had before, but perhaps in some ways it felt even more like a home than usual.

It definitely did for Riley who was spinning around the guests singing Christmas carols. She’d taken up the executive role of setting up decorations surpassed only by her father. Every once and a while when she put an ornament up or stuck up a wreath she’d hear a startled cry from her father and he’d be on her to move it just so. All she can manage to do is fold her arms and quirk a brow at him. For years they’d been doing this now and as much as Cory tries to deny it he enjoys decorating for Christmas even more than his daughter.

The fifth time in a row Cory’s shrieked from across the room Riley practically throws her hands up in defeat. She turns to Maya and politely dismisses herself from her friend’s company to go to her room. Not that Maya noticed, since she was busy prodding at Cory’s buttons. Once she was satisfied her friend was properly distracted she picked up a Christmas wreath and adorned it like a crown before spinning into her room.

Riley had long ago taken to wrapping her presents the day she got them. She took careful care to wrap each one uniquely and without a tell of who it was for. Depending on the person there was always multiple boxes (this year it was Shawn getting that treatment). She always very deliberately made sure not to write anyone’s names on the wrapping because otherwise she’d find someone sneaking into shake them to figure out what it was. This included her own parents. She liked surprises and if they found anything out that would ruin it all.

Which is why she always had to doublecheck and triplecheck everything. Especially this evening with her bed being far more covered than any year previous. She hummed to herself pointing at each present like a conductor. Once she was satisfied she nodded to herself before turning to go back out for dinner.

That is until she saw a shadow in the corner of her eye. She was used to people being out on her windowsill, but in spite of herself she stiffened just slightly. No one should be here on Christmas. Turning towards the window she definitely saw a figure on the fire escape. She couldn’t see his face from here, but Riley could tell that form and manner of dress as easily as she could Maya.

In a flash the young girl was across her room and flinging open the window that was usually left unlocked. The boy jumps himself and stumbles to get up, fumbling down a step or two before his butt crashes into the metal pavement. Blue eyes widening into saucers as he catches sight of the girl urgently pulling herself out of the window with a furrowed brow.

“Farkle!” Riley exclaims between breathes.

Farkle tries for a cheeky grin as he situates himself on the step. She notices him trying oh too hard to look cool and she has to huff at that. The smile he wears doesn’t seem to wave one bit as he manages a laugh, “Merry Christmas, Riley.”

“Merry Christmas, Farkle,” she responds in a haughty tone that can only have been inherited from her mother, “now are you going to tell me why it’s nearly twenty degrees out, snowing, and you’re on my fire escape?”

He seems to whither for a moment under her gaze and she finds herself wilting just a bit instead. Only a bit as her arms cross further against her chest. “It’s Christmas,” he reasons promptly, “and I wanted to say Merry Christmas in person. Is there something wrong with that?”

“Why didn’t you use the front door?”

Riley’s words come out so sharply that she can see him visibly wince at the response. Still he doesn’t seem to want to be defeated yet.

“Since when have any of us ever used a front door, anyway?”

An icy silence envelopes the both of them. There’s a tensity that Riley can’t quite place between them as his eyes dart away. Her shoulders slump slightly knowing that they’re both going to be all too stubborn about this, but she’s not letting it go so easily. His cheeks are all too rosy from the whipping of the air and she can tell he’s shaking even as he tries to look as stiff as possible. Just how long had he been out there anyway.

Finally, after several minutes the boy heaved a sigh and shrugged his shoulders in defeat. “It was quiet at home,” Farkle admits lowly, “and I knew everyone would be here. Everyone just looks so happy. I like seeing you all happy.”

Riley immediately deflates like a punctured balloon at his words. Her lips turning into a thin frown she let out a sharp breath before crawling the rest of the way out the window. She almost winces at the cool feel of icy metal on her socked feet, but ignores it in loo of moving to sit next to the startled boy.

“Riley,” he says quickly, “what are you doing? You’ll get sick dressed like that out here–”

“Hey, if you can sit out here like this so can I,” she snaps back with certain ferocity before it wilts to something far more gentle and knowing as she implores, “where is your family at, Farkle?”

Once more his eyes dart quickly away. His fingers moving quickly to fidget with the lapels of his jacket in an anxiety that was far too familiar too her. Shifting slightly, Riley moved to wrap her arm in between his and lean her head against his shoulder. She feels Farkle take a deep breath before relaxing and tilting his head just slightly into her. In spite of the cold, Riley smiles slightly as a familiar warmth floods over her.

She waits patiently until he speaks again and she’s rewarded moments later. “…Dad had a business trip. He was supposed to be back two days ago, but then negotiations got extended. Then the snowstorm happened so he’s stuck on another continent,” Farkle says all too factually, “mom’s at home. We opened presents this morning and had a really nice breakfast. It’s just… really quiet, it always is. I like seeing your guy’s Christmas.”

Riley moved her free hand to squeeze his arm. She knew it wasn’t the first time it happened. It seemed like almost every year there was something that caught Stuart up. She knew the man didn’t do it intentionally, but it made her heart ache for the boy who sat on her fire escape looking in on another family. Making a face at the thought, Riley abruptly got up almost slipping on the icy landing.

In an instance Farkle is up and putting a hand on her back. “Riley?” He questions perplexed but she smiles it away. The boy melts into his own smile as well and she takes his hand before tugging on it slightly. “Wait, what are you doing?” He asked, voice cracking. Farkle knew that look on her face and knew all too well it meant she was planning something. She gave half a laugh before tugging on him impatiently once more, but Farkle was having none of it as he stood rooted in his place.

“It’s Christmas,” she said exasperated, “and Christmas is for being together with your family. And you’re my family, too. So come on already, silly.”

His brow furrowed slightly as he finally lets himself be pulled in, “Is that really a good idea?”

“It’s a perfect idea,” she assures, clambering into the window, “no one will mind. They all love you.”

Farkle opened his mouth to retort that he barely knew some of them, but halted as he slid onto the bay window. Riley rose a brow at him in confusion but he continued to stare wordlessly at the ceiling just before them. “Riley,” he got out warily, “why… is there mistletoe right here?”

“What?” Riley responded startled, her eyes following his, “oh. Dad. He likes to put them up everywhere he possible can. Mom tries to catch them all and only leave one or two up but I guess she missed this one. That’s not a surprise, Dad’s gotten really into being sneaky about it because he likes kissing mo…”

Her voice cuts off right there as she suddenly realizes why Farkle asked that. Silently, she cursed her father and his ridiculous need to get Topanga to kiss him whenever he wanted. Turning back to her friend who remained staring at the villainous plant, Riley twisted her hands in her skirts before piping up. “We don’t have to, Farkle,” she reasoned, “it’s just a silly tradition.”

A tradition that, for some reason, didn’t seem that bad right now. Her eyes darted to Farkle’s lips and she flushed in embarassment before dropping her gaze. “We can’t ignore it,” Farkle piped up startling her, “haven’t you heard why people do in the first place? Because the last time someone ignored it they were poisoned by this tiny little plant. Poisoned.”

“Farkle, that’s just some myth, we’ll be fine. We’re like twenty-thousand years in the future.”

“Not doing it.”

The way he said it made her flush hotly once more. She shifted back a step when she sees him lumber to his feet. Hearing him take a breath, Riley glanced up to the embarrassed shifting of the boy. He sure did seem to get a lot closer than he was a few moments ago, though. Freezing up slightly, Riley watched as Farkle hesitated just centimeters away. Suddenly for once in her life she stops thinking and acts on impulse. A hand moves to the back of his neck to keep him there and she crashes her lips against his.

She feels Farkle give a sharp intake at the motion but before she can waver his hand finds her back and his lips press against hers in earnest. It’s definitely not what she thought kissing Farkle would ever be like. The kiss itself isn’t that spectacular, honestly, as most first kisses aren’t– It’s clumsy and a little too toothy and looking back she’d feel a little silly. In that moment though she can feel Farkle’s heart beat rapidly against hers and it was if they really were one for a short period of time. Some part of her didn’t want it to end and she’d have to question that later.

“Riley! It’s popcorn stringing time,” a sing-songy voice cut through the air. Suddenly where they were came flooding back and both kids jumped away from each other. It’s too late though as a piercing shriek feels the air and a large bowl of popcorn finds its way to the ground. Neither kid looks up in fear of the look on the man’s face, so they don’t see the crowd of people making its ways down the hall.

It doesn’t take long for any of them to figure out what was happening in there.

“Oh boy, I’d run,” Shawn advised quickly, torn between some mixture of pride and horrified uncle.

“Looks like we’ve got something to talk about, honey,” chirped Maya in a sing-songy voice. She knows she should be horrified and later will be, but for the moment she’s just enjoying the show.

As for Cory?

He seems to have become a petrified statue pointing wordlessly at one Farkle Minkus. Topanga, perhaps having expected something like this one day, grabs him by the shoulders and tries to user him out of the room. Her touch only serves to electrify him as the next moment he’s out of her grip and flying across the room.

“Daddy, no,” Riley squeaked getting between him and her friend as her father mumbles ‘I’m going to kill him’ over and over again. It takes an intervention with Topanga– and a promise of triple helpings of potatoes– to calm Cory down. Seeing the show was over the others filed quickly away, but neither of the two culprits seemed to be able to look at each other without looking sheepishly at each other for the rest of the evening.

At least it seems that Cory Matthews has finally learned his lesson over putting mistletoe absolutely everywhere.

Part 1 Part 2

Lucas watched with a heavy heart, as Evan kissed Riley’s temple and whispered something in her ear that made her giggle.

“I’ll text you whenever I can,” Evan smiled down at Riley, who blushed under his stare. “I’ll try to visit you as soon as I can. I really like our friendship, Riley.”

“As do I, Evan,” Riley grinned back. “You’re really easy to talk to. I’m glad I’ve gotten the chance to meet you.”

Lucas sighed, casting his eyes onto his boots. He felt his heart squeeze painfully at her words.

You’re really easy to talk to.

She had told him the same thing once. He had snuck in through the bay window and they had spent the night talking about everything they possibly could.

Lucaya in Girl Meets Flaws

Okay so in the Gif above, it’s pretty obvious that they came from the same place, but Maya totally glances at Lucas’s hotness, is clearly upset with it, and bites her lip to, as Elsa would say “conceal don’t feel.”

Wow Lucas is strong. Once again, the writers give us another example of how good of an influence Lucas is on Maya. He doesn’t even have to say anything to stop her! Plus I think its pretty cute that Sabrina was trying hard to keep herself from laughing, who wouldn’t? it was a funny scene.

Aw! It looks like Lucas’s words of wisdom from the window scene really stuck with Maya! I just love how when he totally loses his cool, she was the one to bring him back and talk some sense into him. Riley could have done the exact same thing and jumped on his back instead, but it was Maya who stopped him from fighting fire with fire. Maya leans in so close, she might as well have kissed him to calm him down.

This scene is pretty much self explanatory, Maya was just so comfortable on his back, that she completely “forgot” to get off and looks kinda like “oh right” When Lucas asks her to get down

Okay, so pretty much there was a crapton of Lucaya moments in this episode. The writers are not the most subtle people because the interaction between Maya and Lucas was pretty hard to ignore. Credit to loveholic198 for being awesome and letting me use her Gifs, thanks babe!

Welcome Back, Riley │ Part 13

Riley disappears the day after her high school graduation, five years ago. She didn’t keep in contact with anyone, but her family. What happens when she comes back to New York for a week? What happens when she comes face to face with the friends she left behind? When she left, she never made plans to look back at the life she left. She left it behind for a reason, but sometimes the past has a hard time staying there.

part 1part 2 part 3 part 4 part 5 part 6part 7 part 8 part 9part 10 part 11 part 12

I really hated writing this chapter because I felt like it was all over the place. I think I’m just in a hurry to finish it. The ending is just shouting at me to write.

I knew I missed Lucas, but I didn’t understand the extent of it until I heard his voice last night. We talked for hours. Both of us were both a bit nervous at first, but it didn’t last long. I did feel bad that we did stay up so late. It was only midnight my time, however, it was three his time. He said he didn’t mind because he was able to hear my voice. So, I guess it wasn’t much of a surprise when I woke up this morning to a text message from him.

Goodmorning Riley! Talking to you last night about everything and nothing was something I really needed. I miss you.

I can’t help the smile that strews across my lips

Maybe tonight if I don’t leave the work so late, we can talk again.

I press send and toss my phone on my bed. I move to my bathroom and start the shower, but before I can star undressing I hear my phone bing. It’s like the teenage inside of me went off because I dash out of my bathroom and to the side of my bed.

Doesn’t matter what time, call me. Talking to you is the only way I’m okay with losing any sleep.

Throughout the day Lucas and I text each other. I don’t know why I thought we would be able to wait till tonight to talk. I smile all day. He makes me happy, just talking to him for a few hours makes me feel like I have a piece of me that’s been missing. It’s different talking to him when I’m states away, no one is forcing me to talk to him or I don’t feel forced. I’m doing it because I want to.

I decide to leave work early today for the first time in months, but I don’t go home instead I go over to Michael and Jessica’s house to surprise them. They call me almost every day to check in, but I haven’t seen Michael or Nathan since before I left, and Jessica the day I got back.

Their house is beautiful. It’s a two story light grey house with darker grey window shutters and a black window door. It sounds a little gloomy, but it fits Seattle weather. I walk down the walkway leading up to their door and ring the doorbell.

I’m greeted by a tall brunette with brown eyes.

“Riley!” He looks back to the stairs, “Nathan come down someone’s here who you missed!” He shouts.

“Hey Michael!” I move in to give him a hug. “How have you guys been?”

“We’ve been great!”

“That’s good to hear. I’m sorry I didn’t come sooner.”

“Don’t worry about that. Jessica will be back soon with dinner. She didn’t feel like cooking tonight,” he chuckles. “You are staying for dinner.”

“I don’t want to-“

I get interrupted by a now eight-year-old Nathan running down the stair. “RILEY!” He practically yells. I turn my attention to the blonde hair light brown eyed boy.

“Hey little guy!” He wraps his arms around me and squeezes me tight. He’s gotten so tall, pretty soon he is going to tower over me.

“Nathan how about you go set the table.” Michael says.

“But do I have to?” Nathan whines.

I can’t help the quiet laugh that escapes my lips. “How about I go help you? Apparently I’m staying for dinner.”

I see a smile that spreads across his face. He reminds me of Auggie when he was this age. Maybe that’s why I get along with him so well.

Nathan and I move to the dining room table. I grab the plates and silverware, and he grabs cups and cloths. The both of us walk around the table placing the items for each person. He tells me about his pee wee football team and how he is excited for his game against their rival team in a few weeks, but he’s nervous too.

“Why are you nervous?”

Nathan takes a deep breath, “There is a cheerleader that cheers for the team we are going to be playing.”

“Does someone have a crush?” I tease him a little with a hip bump.

“What do I do? You’re a girl give me girl advice?”

I smile, “Give her a flower, girls like flowers. A really pretty flower.”

“I’ll tell mom to help me pick one. Will you come and watch me play?”

“Of course I will!”

My phone goes off and I look at down at it.

I can’t wait to tell you about the day I had at the clinic today! Call me as soon as you can.

A smile forms at my lips because I can picture his excitement.

Can’t wait to hear! I’ll call as soon as I’m home.

The smile never leaves my face. I feel like a happier person.

“Why are you are smiley?” Nathan pulls me out of my Lucas daze. “Who was it?” he asks stretching his neck to look at my phone.

I shake myself out of my Lucas daze and twist to the side to hide my phone, “Oh nothing.”

“Liar! You are all smiley Riley right now. You never smile like that.” He gestures to my face. “Don’t stop. You have a nice smile when it’s real.” How is an eight-year-old so observant?

“You are one smart boy you know that.” I ruffle his hair.

“I GOT DINNER!” we hear Jessica yell from the front door.

We finish setting the table just as Jessica walks into the dining room with Michael right behind her.

“Riley, you’re here? What a nice surprise!” She places the food on the table and embraces me into a hug.

Nathan wastes no time reaching for the bag of Chinese takeout, but Jessica slaps his hand away. After a few more words exchanged between Jessica and I, she pulls each container out of places it in the middle of the table. The four of us take our seats around the table and start to serve ourselves.

Michael starts to ask about work and tell him that everything is going good. I ask about the café. They try to down play how they are hanging on. I won’t let anything happen to where they’ll lose the café. They invested so much into it.

We continue to talk about everything going on in our lives. Nathan talks about school and his favorite classes. I don’t mean to be rude, but I keep counting down the minutes until I’m home and can talk to Lucas. If it because daily, I would be totally fine with that.

We talk about Thanksgivings. They seem excited about meeting my parents, and I’m excited too. I can finally bring the two parts of life together.

Dinner starts to come to an end. Nathan gives me a hug goodbye and then disappears upstairs to get ready for bed.

“Thank you for having me for dinner.”

“Anytime. You know you are always welcomed here.” Jessica says as she takes her turn to hug me.

“Be safe getting home. I don’t know why you live basically in the middle of nowhere.” Michael has always been so concern with where I live. It’s not like it’s a bad location.

“I like it what can I say.” I move to hug him. I pull away and make my way to the front door. “Bye. I’ll see you guys soon, and if not I’ll see you guys on Thanksgiving.”

They both nod, “We’ll be there.” Michael says. “Drive safe.”

I give them a quick nod and walk out of the house. They wait by the front door until I make in to my car before they scurry inside.

As soon as I get home, I waste no time going to my room to change into something comfortable and crawling into my bed. It use to feel normal, but right now it just feels empty. I know what’s missing, and I know what it is. I grab my phone and call the person that is missing, that I am missing.

I’ve been waiting all day to hear your voice.

I feel heat rush to my cheeks. Hey Lucas. How was work?

It was amazing! I hear the excitement in his voice. I never told I’d be able to help a horse give birth here in the city, but today I did! I was reminded of the whole reason I wanted to become a veterinarian in the very beginning. Not that I ever forgot, but it was as if I was in that moment again.

That’s incredible Lucas!

It really was. I try to hold my yawn in, but it fights it way through. Are you tired? I can let you go to sleep.

No I’m okay. Just keep talking.

He proceeds to tell me about the rest of his day. I’m trying hard to stay up. I don’t know why I’m so tired. If anything he should be the one tired. It’s later there then it is here. I love the fact that we were able to pick up talking to each other comfortably so fast. Even if it’s about topics I don’t want to talk about, like we are now.

Maya asked me talk to you for her.

How does she know you are talking me?

Well, her, Zay, Farkle, Smackle, and I went out for dinner. A little awkward going out with engaged couples and being the only single one. We both laugh. Anyways, they all kind of guessed it. Apparently I was kept smiling and Maya said it was my Riley smile.

The corner of my lips lift slightly. I was called Smiley Riley today by an eight-year-old. I haven’t been called that in years.

I can practically hear the smirk spreading across his face. So what I’m hearing is that I was the reason behind your smile.

I don’t say anything. Neither does he. Yes, he was the reason for the happiness I felt today, but maybe it was because letting him back into my life was like getting a piece of the old me. Maybe I need other people back in my life too.

Lucas. I take a deep breath. Can I have Maya’s number?

I’m pretty sure she already took your number from my phone. I’ll tell her that it’s okay to use it now.

Thank you.

No Riley, thank you. Thank you for letting me back into your life.

I let out a small sigh. I’m sorry it took so long.

We talk until I hear his breathing start to get heavy. I wondering when he would start to fall asleep because I was hanging on by a thread.

Goodnight Lucas. I hear nothing. I love you. I whisper. I immediately hang up. Hopefully he was really sleeping. I just had to get it off my chest. I love him. I always have and I know I always will.

The next two week or so Lucas and I text all day with calls late at night until one of us falls asleep. It’s almost like being in high school again. I get all the butterflies in my stomach and my heart starts to flutter when I see his name flash on my phone. If one thing I confirmed, I want to be with Lucas Friar more than anything. I want to be able to call him mine.

Maya texts me every day since the night I told Lucas that I wanted her number, and honestly I’m happy I made that choice. Once her and I got past the uncomfortableness I think we both felt, I know I did, it almost felt normal to talk to her. I know we still have a long way to go before we can really repair what was broke, but now I know it’s something I really want.

She tells me how Zay finally broke her down to move in with her, and how she is up to her neck with planning her wedding. I tell her not to worry because she still has more than half a year. She asks if I be willing to help her and I want to, but I can’t not all the way from here.

On Friday morning, I have a hard time pulling myself from my warm comfy bed. The one downside to Seattle weather is that it has the effect of making someone want to stay in bed all day especially when they are tired. I get to work a little late and head straight to my office.

My attention gets pulled from my laptop when I hear my door being open. “Wow, you look a little tired?” Daniel another employee of mine ask. He has really dark hair basically black, but his eyes are the brightest blue that I have ever see. He’s about the same height as me.

“Thanks,” I say sarcastically.

“I’m just messing around. I just wanted to make sure this was okay before I post?” He says passing me his laptop.

I take it from his hands, “I told you, you don’t have to keep doing this. I trust all of you to post what you want and what is appropriate.” I take a quick look over it. I’ve never seen something this personal from him. “Are you sure you want to share this? I mean this amazingly written, but you never shared anything like this. You sign your name at the bottom of this.” My phone flashes on, and I look on down to see his name. I can’t help the smile that takes over my mouth.

“I have never seen you smile like that before. Who’s the lucky guy?” he teases.

“I don’t know what you are talking about.” I hand him the laptop, “If you want to post it, do it. It’s really good.”

“Thank you.” He heads to the door, but stops. “You know Evan isn’t going to like that very much. He’s been trying to get you to out with him for a year now.”

I laugh to avoid the embarrassment I feel. “Get back to work Daniel.”

I try to finish the piece that I’m working on, but to no success. I’ve been distracted lately, mostly by thoughts of Lucas. Before I know it’s six and I’m staring at a half written post. I really should finish this, but Lucas is already calling. I know I shouldn’t answer it because I have this to finish it. But it’s Lucas, and I have a weakness for him.

I answer placing it on my phone speaker, so I don’t have to hold it. Hello? I say as I try to type the thoughts that rushed to head down before I forget.

Is that typing I here? He laughs. Are you still at work? It’s 6:30 your time and you’re still at work on a Friday.  Lucas voice echoes throughout my office, but I was completely zoned in on my laptop I didn’t really hear. Hello, Riley?

Yeah, sorry. Give me a second. I try to type as fast as I can, so I can talk to him.

There is a knock on my door, but once again I’m too focused at the task at hand to acknowledge it.

“Riley,” I look up to see Evan standing in the doorway. “I was wondering since it’s late and neither one of us has eaten, maybe you wanted to get a late dinner? I can even go get take out and bring it back and we can eat here.” The sound of Lucas clearing his throat fills the room. Evan eyes move to my phone, “I’m sorry I didn’t know you were on the phone.”

“It’s okay. It’s a friend.” I hear Lucas scoff and I’m pretty certain Evan did too. “You go. I’ll probably just pick up something on the way home. I still have to finish here.”

“Again with the rejection,” he laughs. “You’ll crack one day, I’m pretty persistent.”

Over my dead body. Lucas decides to chime in. I quickly move to take him off of speaker and place the call on mute so he doesn’t hear anything else.

“Sorry about that.” I say with a smile. I can hear faint mumbles coming from my phone.

“I guess I’m not the only one who is trying to win over the heart of Riley Matthews.” He can’t win something that is already taken. Lucas has my heart.

I laugh to cover the uncomfortableness I feel, “Goodnight Evan. I’ll see you Monday. Remember meeting at ten.”

“Goodnight Riley. Have a good weekend.” He gives me one last smile before leaving. I wait until he is a good distance away before I pick up my phone.

Was that really necessary? I try to remain calm.

Who was that, and why does he think it’s okay to ask you out? Lucas snaps.

Evan just someone I work with.

Evan?! Not the same Evan from the ski lodge right?

I roll my eyes. No, but there are similarities. At least I don’t think this. I think I’d be able to recognize him. I don’t know why I just said that to him though. I hear him say something under his breathe. You don’t have a right to be mad, me and you are just friends. Even though I want to be so much more.

You know damn well I want to be with you, Riley! The rise in his voice startles me. I’m sorry. I just don’t like someone hitting on you, and I’m not there to do anything about it. I don’t even know where you are!

I scoff. That angry of yours still comes out sometimes, doesn’t it?

I’m sorry, but this guy-

I cut him off. This jealousy thing use to be kind of endearing when we were in high school and middle school, but we’re adults now.

Riley, I’m trying here. I’m willing to do anything to make it work.

And I’m not?!

He laughs a little more sarcastically than I like. You are still hiding! How is that trying? I’m willing to relocate to be with you!

Lucas. I sigh. I’m just not ready.

Damnit Riley! Am I supposed to wait until you are?! He shouts.

You will not talk to me like that! I bark back. When we can talk about this without you getting mad, then we will talk about the possibility of us. I want it just as much as you do, but right now I can’t talk to you. Bye Lucas.

Riley, wait!

What? I whisper.

I love you. I can hear the sincerity in his voice.

I wanted to say it more than anything. Say it when he isn’t sleeping and can actually hear me, but I bite my tongue. Goodbye Lucas. I hang up before my mouth can shout out the words my heart so desperately wants to say.

Within the same minute we get off the phone, he is calling back but I don’t answer. He calls five times and each time I have to resist the urge of answering. I do want to be with him, soon even, but right now I can’t. I can’t explain it, I just can’t something is telling me to wait.

It doesn’t stop at just at calls, he starts texting.

I’m sorry I shouldn’t have reacted like that just don’t shut me out please

Maybe I shouldn’t have said I love you. Was it too soon?

You know what I’m glad I said it because I do love you!

There is a few more, but I stop reading them. To make sure I don’t give in, I turn off my phone and put it in my purse. Why does he have this effect on me? I can be mad at him, but at the say time want to be near him. I don’t know why I wasn’t able to say I love you back because I do love him.

It takes me about another half hour to finish the rest of my entry. I hurriedly lock everything up and head to my car. Once again the last one to leave, but I don’t mind. Maybe because every day I go home to an empty house.

Once I get home, I walk over to my kitchen place the personal size pizza I got for dinner on the counter top. I take my phone from my purse and turn it on and take a bite out of a slice as I wait. I expected to have more missed calls from Lucas, even some text messages, but I have a miss call from Maya followed by text to call her as soon as I can. So that’s what I do.

As I wait for her to pick up, I take another bite. Riley!

Zay? Where’s Maya? She told me to call.

She’s dealing with a very drunk Lucas right now.

I scoff. What happened?

The person that Lucas will never get to meet was his daughter. You were pregnant when you left and had the baby. You named her Hope

How-How do you know about Hope? I stammer at first.

Lucas. He’s here at my house and very drunk going on about you and someone named Hope Olivia Matthews. I called Farkle and asked him to come over. He is usually the one to calm him down. I don’t say anything.  Riley, please tell us where you are. He needs to know. We all need to know.

I stare down at my food, thinking maybe I should just tell them. I’ll tell you guys soon, just not now. Take care of him please. Don’t let him do anything stupid.

I hear a deep breath from the other end. Are you okay?

I’ll be fine. I hear someone asking if it’s me on the phone and by the slurring of the words I know it’s Lucas. I have to go. I have to get everything ready for Auggie when he comes this weekend to spend the week with me. Bye Zay. Tell Maya to call me tomorrow.

Riley! Lucas must have snatched the phone away from Zay because his voice is the one shouting my name from the opposite end of the call.

I don’t say anything instead I just hang up. I can’t deal with this right now. I place my phone down, but it glows with a new text message from a number I don’t recognize.

I know where you are. No more hiding Riley.

Who is this?

You’ll find out soon.
