offensive i tell you

I’ve seen a lot of people criticizing the writing for Voltron Season 2. One of the criticisms that people seem to have is that they feel as if the narrative forced Allura to apologize to Keith when she shouldn’t have.

I’ll start off by saying that I think this is a very beautiful scene, and that I personally think it was handled very well. It’s one of my favorite scenes from Season 2.

I don’t think the writers included this scene to imply that her hatred of the Galra Empire was unreasonable, or that her initial reaction to finding out Keith was part Galra was something she should be looked down upon for.

Allura made the best decision, both as a person and as a Princess, by apologizing to Keith. After discovering Keith is part Galra, she snubbed him. The snubbing didn’t last long because she came around rather quickly, but imagine if she hadn’t apologized. What would she have done? Kept snubbing Keith? Imagine how many problems that could have caused for Team Voltron. The team’s morale would be lowered if Allura kept hating Keith, which in turn would cause the team’s  efficiency to be lowered as well.  Emotions would start running high, and a divide would form. It could very well have lead to Keith feeling the need to leave Team Voltron.

But that didn’t happen. She chose to apologize. No one forced her, everyone gave her some space because they understood how deeply she had been hurt by the Galra Empire (although it was clear that the other paladins felt that the snubbing was unfair, this was demonstrated when Hunk spoke up for Keith).

What’s more, Allura’s judgement of Keith WAS unfair. Keith literally did nothing wrong. In fact, he actually proved his loyalty to Voltron by showing that he was willing to give up learning about his past. He grew up as an orphan, he’s probably been searching for answers about his past for the MAJORITY OF HIS LIFE. He was willing to give up something he fought so hard for the team. He’s proud to be a paladin of Voltron. The rest of the Paladins + Allura and Coran are the closest to a real family he’s ever had.

I’ve seen people liken the Galra to space nazis, so I’ll roll with that comparison for a second. Galra is a race/species, NOT an ideology. So much in the same way that German =/= Nazi, Galra =/= Space Nazi. What’s more, we’ve been shown in canon that there are good Galra (The Blades of Marmora). Not to mention Keith didn’t even KNOW he was part Galra until very recently. He’s not even Galra passing.

Imagine finding out that you’re part German (while not being white passing), and immediately after, someone in your friend group (who are basically the only family you have) starts hating you because of it. It’s just not fair.

edit: I’d like to clarify that I don’t think people should call Allura a racist. Just saw one of the ladies on the AfterBuzz show do that and it was ridiculous.

I realize that people make human AU Pearl young and stuff b/c it’s more relatable but please consider with me that human Pearl would be the weird ex-military neighbor who wakes up at 5 am every morning and calls the cops if the recycling truck leaves the bin in front of her mailbox and keeps to herself a lot and breaks out a leaf blower half the size of her body to sweep 6 maple seedpods of her front sidewalk. She’s got Rose’s flag hanging on one of those brackets on the porch. Every week or so her son comes over for dinner and promises the neighbor kids that his mom’s super nice if you get to know her she just likes everything just so and meanwhile she’s leaning out the screen door like “steven move the bin out of the way of the mailbox” “okay” “that’s a federal offense you know” “i know you tell me every time i’m here”

There’s 6 cars up on blocks in the backyard and every spring she trims the lilac hedges with a sword

  • Merle: You guys really want to run away? You don't want to fight?
  • Taako: I have no- we have no-
  • Merle: You have magic! You have offensive magic! I have offensive magic!
  • Taako: I wanna tell you a story about the time there were three ogres, right? And then one hit me so hard I almost died. You were sitting up in some sort of weird laser just shooting flasks willynilly, and Travis was ripping the arms off of robots, and I got PUNCHED SO HARD I ALMOST DIED! I'm not gonna go toe to toe with a crab while you're armed with a terrible Scottish accent and Travis doesn't even have his shield! I'm out!

Do birds make you more attractive to the opposite sex?

This is a difficult question to answer specifically, because obviously, and statistically, birds make you more attractive to literally everyone. Are you a human? Have you seen this mysterious stranger with a bird? Are you suddenly and inexplicably intrigued?? Are you the opposite sex? Same sex? Any sex?? Gender? Any gender??? EVERYBODY??!? GET ON IT

I am damn tired of anti-black Latinos thinking they have the right to say “nigga”. I got into an argument with my friend who is Mexican, she’s one of those people who thinks she sound cute saying nigga after every other sentence. I’ll admit, for a while I let her get away with it only because of my own ignorance and failing to understand the negative and oppressive capabilities of that word being used by non-blacks. I guess I finally had enough so I decided to check her ass on it. I told her I didn’t think it was right that a word that was used to oppress and dehumanize people who looked like me for so many years had become so popular and normalized. She told me “it’s just a word, it’s not that deep”. I said “bitch no it’s not, you’re being insensitive, I’m telling you that I find it offensive and you should respect that”. Her response to me was basically that since she wasn’t white, it was ok, that white people should be the only ones not allowed to use it since they are the “true racist ones”, she said that Latinos and blacks were basically in the same boat and faced the same level of discrimination from white people. She also said that since many Latinos have black ancestry, that made it more acceptable. I had to laugh when she said this though; it’s just funny considering how anti-black many Latino communities are and a lot of them struggle with the same colorism issues as the black community. You have actual black Latinos, like Dominicans, who constantly deny their black heritage(not all of them of course). I know for a fact that many older generation Latino families look down on black people, I can name so many of my Latino friends who have told me how “their parents would kill them if they ever brought home a black boy/girl, but everyone else is acceptable”. Hell, even in high school a Latino boy I had a crush on told me he was afraid to date a black girl because of the backlash he would get from his family. So it just goes to show that everyone wants to be black until it’s REALLY time to be black. They want to be black so they can say nigga, listen to rap music, wear urban clothes, speak AAVE, etc, but you won’t see them speaking out when black people are killed on the streets or subjected to the everyday racism we encounter. Honestly fuck any non-black POC who does shit like this. I get so sick of them thinking they are exempt from being prejudice assholes just because they aren’t white. Black people are literally targeted and hated by cultures all over the world. If you aren’t black, you don’t get to tell me what the fuck I should and should not be offended by!

Can I just point out how much I love people, especially people with mental/ illnesses/ disorders (I’m sorry if that sounds offensive!!) watching Slenderverse??

I can’t tell you how many people I see relating to characters (I don’t mean Otherkin, bc I’m uneducated there)??? Like, I’ve had paranoia and anxiety for a while. It seems kind of cruel, but knowing other people go through it as well makes it easier to deal with. Even if it’s not a mental illness, just some normal things, it’s so easier to cope!

So when someone relates to a character, please please please stop throwing them down for it!

@RWBY Fandom, Topic: Taiyang’s Joke

Maybe we should pause and think about that in the show, Yang found the joke funny. And considering it’s her father, the man who has raised her and trained her for her entire life, they probably share jokes like this. It’s probably a normal thing (Taiyang mailed their dog, he’s clearly done some weird shit).

Yang was okay with it. It’s a joke her loving father said.

And maybe it’s a coping method. It’s been 6-8 months. Yang still needs time to recuperate, but that doesn’t mean she can’t laugh at jokes, that she can’t try to start moving forward.

If you found it offensive, well, it’s your feelings. I’m not going to tell you to feel differently; that would be dumb of me, and impossible as well.

Let’s just remember that Yang found the joke funny. I personally am not going to be mad at a joke in which the character involved wasn’t even insulted in the slightest.

There's two kinds of people:

1. Those who admit they read smut
2. Liars

FLOWER CREW V-APP: THE EXTENT OF THE INSULT IN THE WORD, “쳐먹어” Said by Seho

As a Korean, I will tell you how OFFENSIVE the term  쳐먹어 is when used in the context everyone is blowing up about (I do realise other actions were rude, but this one got to me). I will be translating this in a rather COLLOQUIAL and EVERY-DAY LIFE BASED MEANING rather than THE ACTUAL DICTIONARY MEANING.

When Jungkook was offering burgers and Minseok was the one to eventually eat it as well, Seho said, “ 쳐먹어”; this is a very rude way to say “eat”, more like saying, “stuff/shove it in your mouth” with a very negative connotation.

As a Korean myself,  쳐먹어 is a term you MAJORITY OF THE TIME relate with PIGS FOR FATTENING UP. For example: 돼지 처럼 쳐먹어, would be translated to (including implied voice tone and underlying subtext), “yeah, go ahead and shove it in your mouth like a fucking pig, will you.” How fucking disrespectful is that to Minseok and to Jungkook who offered the burger?

It is a term used as an insult, and it is obvious that it surely wasn’t playful when Seho said this. And how would Jungkook feel? Having offered a burger and that person who accepted it gets words like that thrown at them?

I dont know if Seho is sour for being a comedian who isn’t really KNOWN like Jungkook is, being overshadowed in other variety shows like Happy Together (having only introduicing guests into the show with little input throughout) it is still very rude to be telling someone something like that, especially when fans are watching.

I mean... no offense but logic is sick and you're telling.... jokes... so I'm not sure if you two should be watching children anyway

But……. *Frowns because your right*

I find it strange that people are complaining about all the salt inspired by the last two chapters in Erwin/Eruri enthusiasts.

Listen. We’ve had to deal with Erwin hate that’s been backed up by baseless reasons for YEARS, and now when we complain about EM for how they’ve literally not spared a thought for Humanity and attacked a superior despite WILLINGLY having joined the SC, the fandom is suddenly asking for the salt to subside?

Like, ha ha, are you even for real? That’s just going to add more salt to everything.
