Hi! So I have wanted to go vegan for a wile now and have been vegetation for 7 months. And I've decided to go vegan. I was wondering if you had any tips and like what to buy in the beginning and staples to buy. Thanks so much!

Hello! Some foods I always like to have on hand are: 

  • baby spinach
  • black beans
  • chickpeas
  • corn
  • avocados
  • rice (brown and/or basmati)
  • lentils (green and red)
  • tomato salsa
  • nutrition bars (Clif, Odwalla, whatever you like)
  • soy milk 
  • cereal (muesli is a good option)
  • pasta
  • tomato sauce
  • bananas and frozen fruits (for smoothies)
  • yellow onions
  • garlic
  • salt, pepper, cumin, cayenne, chili powder, red pepper flakes, oregano, nutritional yeast, lemon and lime juice, and olive oil for cooking/seasoning

I also really like having, but don’t always have: 

  • cauliflower 
  • arugula
  • kale
  • potatoes (whatever variety you like)
  • jalapenos
  • tomatoes 
  • broccolini 
  • bell peppers 
  • snap peas
  • coconut milk (for cooking)
  • squash (butternut, acorn, and spaghetti squash)

Just mess around with some of the inexpensive basics at the beginning to find some staple meals that you enjoy, and experiment from there! :)
