You got a lot of odd looks as you walked down the streets with the Musketeers. No one ever found it “normal” that there was a female Musketeer. Even the King protested it quite often, never believing that you could really do your job. But the Queen found it both amusing and impressive. The only reason you were ever able to become a Musketeer was because Captain Treville kept badgering the King and Cardinal for permission for you to train. You proved their standards wrong and they had no choice but to accept it. That was your biggest achievement, proving both the King and the Cardinal wrong. But even though you were happy with your job you grew tired of the looks, tired of no one ever believing that you could actually be a Musketeer.
You were lost in thought as you felt a hand grip your side. Looking to your left left you see Athos “Do not dwell on their stares or words. You are a better fighter and woman than any of them could ever be” he said as he gave you one of his rare small smiles. You wanted to kiss him in thanks for his encouraging words but it would be inappropriate. You were on the job after all.
