obstructionist republicans

Just a reminder that Coretta Scott King’s words…

About Jeff Sessions was silenced 30 years ago by Senator Strom Thurmond, a Civil Rights opponent …

And by Senator Mitch McConnell, Republican Obstructionist…

But Senator Elizabeth Warren…

“She was warned. She was given an explanation. Nevertheless, she persisted.”

Resist and Persist.

I certainly have noticed a “disturbing trend” in this country during the last seven years, and while it is directly related to President Obama, it has very little to do with how many police officers have been killed during his term in office.

(Republican Senator) Mitch McConnell doesn’t get it.

In the United States of America, the commitment to care for the men and women who put on our nation’s uniform shouldn’t stop once they return home from the wars they were sent to fight.

This isn’t a new promise made to our troops – some of our first colonial laws dealt with the care of wounded veterans.

That’s why it was so jarring to watch Mitch McConnell lead his colleagues in the Senate during a filibuster of legislation to improve veterans health care and tuition benefits … all over his desire to push our country to the brink of yet another war, this time with Iran.

Mitch McConnell has been on a desperate crusade to appeal to dissatisfied Tea Partiers in Washington D.C., but Kentuckians back home would be appalled by his actions.

Kentucky has over 330,000 veterans who live in the state, tens of thousands of them who receive pension payments, tuition assistance, or health care.

McConnell’s vote is a slap in the face to all of them.

This is why President Obama has not been able to get as much done as we would have liked for him to. The Republicans were blocking him on purpose and they have admitted it.

Please vote for Democrats!

You know what? If the Whining Little Baby Party (aka: the Republican Party) wants to obstruct the working of our government (again), and block the nomination of a new Supreme Court justice until the next President takes office, I hope Bernie Sanders nominates Barack Obama. - The Mad Sonneteer

Robert Reich: A Republican Senate would wage war on working families

A short video from Robert Reich and MoveOn.org that explains what Republicans will do if they get control of the Senate.

81% Of Electorate Are NOT Old, Male, Pale, and Stale

“Fortunately, Donald, you and your supporters no longer look like what America actually is today. We are not a country of angry white guys. Here’s a statistic that is going to make your hair spin: Eighty-one percent of the electorate who will pick the president next year are either female, people of color, or young people between the ages of 18 and 35. In other words, not you. And not the people who want you leading their country.”

- Michael Moore, in an open letter to Donald Trump. #WeAreAllMuslim

VOTE! It is so important to vote blue. Clean out congress from the obstructionists Republicans. Give a democrat the chance to replace Supreme Court justices. 4 out of 5 voters can improve the course of America!

Last week, Senate Republicans shamefully killed a constitutional amendment that would reverse Citizens United and restore our democracy. One of those Republicans was Susan Collins of Maine.

Our friends at MoveOn have released a TV ad that joins Democrat Shenna Bellows in making this vote an issue on the campaign trail. Shenna is seeing double-digit movement in the polls right now due to her bold populist message – and if we win this seat, Republicans cannot win the Senate.

Collins is the political establishment’s favorite so-called “moderate Republican” – except she’s nothing of the sort. She’s a corporate-backed politician who voted against the president’s proposal to raise the minimum wage. She regularly votes against veterans, against seniors, and against strong Wall Street reform.

President Obama won Maine by a 15-point margin in 2012. This isn’t a state that needs to settle for Susan Collins. A bold progressive can win this seat. Maine voters just need a real choice, and they finally have one.

Shenna Bellows is boldly campaigning on big progressive ideas – expanding Social Security benefits, making sure millionaires and billionaires pay their fair share of taxes, overturning Citizens United, and public financing of our elections. […]

From The Atlantic:

“The inter-party battle over an Obama nominee began in February when Justice Antonin Scalia died on a hunting trip at a Texas ranch. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell sent out a statement that day that established the party line: “The American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice,” he said. “Therefore, this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new president.” His memo was sent roughly an hour after Scalia’s death was confirmed, shortly before the president announced his own intention to fill the seat.”

A Republican is never satisfied with SEVEN Benghazi reports. They want to believe there is another version of reality despite extensive inquiries.

A Republican is never satisfied with FIFTY-FOUR symbolic votes on Obamacare. More votes are needed to show they will always be symbolic obstructionists.

A Republican thinks one heavily-flawed prosecutor and a no-bill grand jury are more than enough and any suggestion of impropriety, and a second look are baseless and hurtful. Another proper inquiry would accomplish nothing.
