Blair: No it’s not. It’s horrible. I thought that if I could finally say it that everything would change but he’s jut as selfish and soulless as ever. Only a masochist could ever love such a narcissist. Help me.
Cyrus: You don’t need help. He just needs time.
Blair: Wait, not enough.
-Favorite Scene 2x13 Part 4: O Brother, Where Bart Thou?
Last week PLL had its moment this week we take back the timeline. We are trending “Team Chuck and Blair” from 7:45pm EST and live tweeting a rewatch of “O Brother , Where Bart Thou?” at 8pm EST. Let’s celebrate why we are team Chuck and Blair as we appreciate the REAL history of Gossip Girl.
what were your thoughts on O Brother, Where Bart thou?
I don’t fully remember how I felt about it when I first saw it years ago but I think I had some issues with it because I’ve always thought Bart and Maggie were a glorious rapport waiting to happen…
Upon rewatching it today though, aside from a few things I didn’t care for (like Bart brushing off Maggie, messing with Marge’s pills, and Lisa being a jerk until the third act) it’s a pretty good (and funny) episode~, Matt Selman is so great and seems to maintain a grip on who the characters are no matter how long the show is on. I particularly like how they set up Bart’s crisis with Lisa mocking him using her relationship with Maggie, which clearly wasn’t as strong as she was saying since Maggie wasn’t that interested; it sets up the story like it needs to without compromising the characters, something only a truly great writer who fully understands the characters can do~. The relationship between Bart and Charlie was cute but one dimensional, which is probably a good thing since you don’t wanna get too attached to a relationship that you know is gonna be over by the end of the episode, so you’re very glad for the way it resolved.
I wish it’d gone more into Bart’s relationship with Lisa (or Maggie, why oh why did it take 27 years for them to build on Bart and Maggie’s relationship) because Bart never really needed a brother, but it was still a fun Bart episode that felt classy and showcased some new talents of his (like cooking cuisine, Bart’s such an artistic genius but heaven forbid his family notices cuz he isn’t book-smart like Lisa) and his good heart.
So overall, not one of my favorites but it’s objectively a really nice episode~ I give it an A- :3
