nyc what is it about you

OMFG

So I’m watching this voice acting documentary on Netflix, “I Know That Voice,” and it’s really good anyway and y'all should watch it.

But they have Kevin Conroy on and they’re into a section about being recognized out in public and Conroy tells this story.

He lives in NYC apparently, and after the 9/11 attacks he helped out making meals for people (in a soup kitchen type thing, I’m gathering).

So one day one guy comes up to him and says, “You know I’m a construction worker in my day job.  What do you do?”

And Conroy tells him that he does voice acting.

And the guy gets all excited, like, “I knew it!  You're that Kevin Conroy, you’re Batman!”

And the guy went out into the dining area and just announced to all of the people there, “You know who’s been cooking your dinner?  Batman.”

The room went completely quiet and eventually some guy at the far end of the room called out, “Bullshit!  Make him prove it!”

So Kevin fucking Conroy just stood in the fucking kitchen and did the, “I am vengeance.  I am the night!  I am Batman!” line.

And the guy was like, “Holy shit it IS Batman!” and everyone cheered.

And the guy who originally approached Conroy came back to him to tell him, “How does it feel to be Santa Claus?  'Cause that’s what you just did.”

And that’s one of the best Batman stories I’ve ever heard.

every year seemingly on the dot there’s an article about this, and to your average New Yorker who reads the news this is probably your only ‘negative’ article about the Hamptons.  And like, yeah, this shit is annoying, people will fly really fucking low in secluded areas and if you live on the flight path you might get like 40 helicopters a day, but honestly?

This is no where near the biggest issue the Hamptons faces.  Not even close.  But it’s an issue that gets hits because it lets us laugh at an issue that’s mostly millionaires vs billionaires because in the popular imagination those are the only people who live in the Hamptons.  More on that in a second but here are some of the issues that your average person faces and sees.

50 people died in the Hamptons from opiod abuse last year.  That might not seem like a lot but in towns where the year-round population numbers in the hundreds its huge, and it grew by 70% last year.  I had this conversation with a friend a year back about this, about how if you stay in the Hamptons there’s this point you get to where everyone you know knows someone who died either because of drugs or because of alcohol.

Homelessness is a pervasive issue in the east end too, and it’s an issue that’s gotten infinitely worse with the arrival of AirBNB.  Montauk in particular is awful about this; rent goes from around 800 a month for a room to more than a thousand a week (or a day) during the summer, and, and this is just a fun anecdote, but there’s an abandoned army base in Montauk that was the inspiration for the army base in Stranger Things, and it’s basically a shanty town during the summer for people who are just working as waiters and taxi drivers but who can’t afford close to a room there.  In general cost of living is high as hell, you might be able to snag a 15$ an hour job if you’re lucky but if you’re not then lunch still goes for twelve at least and nearly all the retail space in any village is dedicated to shit that you could never possibly afford.

The rampant increase in housing prices has also priced out historic black communities in the Hamptons which gets to another issue which is the brutal and pervasive segregation the region faces.  It’s even getting to the point where a NYC style private-public schooling system is de facto in place which drains funding from Latino, African American, and Native American majority districts as the rich white kids go to a pseudo-private school.  The Latino and black communities exist basically outside of the dominant white communities and neighboring Hampton Bays (which is or is not in the Hamptons depending on who you ask) has the largest KKK chapter in the United States.

This isn’t even getting into the issues with public transit, the issues with environmental degradation, suicide rates, etc.  These issues, of drug addiction, pervasive poverty, racism, hopelessness, they’re, like, none of it will probably sound new to you.  They’re issues in nearly every rural community in the United States.  But, even though the Hamptons are a mere 100 miles away from NYC and gets more media attention than your average town in New Mexico or Indiana or Montana, these issues are hardly ever talked about in the context of the Hamptons.  Two years ago if you were looking for a mass media depiction of poverty in the Hamptons you had like two or three articles to go on, tops.

What gets me about the pervasiveness of these “oh these stupid rich people and their rich people problems” articles seem to me to be like the horrifying end phase of the hyper-gentrification of the Hamptons.  A town becomes a target for rich summergoers, it becomes known as a resort town, and gradually the poor people (who live everywhere, who work everywhere) fade from view and disappear from the public image.  They become the subaltern of their own home, known only under the signifier of ‘local’, as hillbillies with hick accents. Their history is forgotten as their past becomes similarly owned by the people who own their house, who own their labor (seriously before the Eastville Historical society was formed in the 1980s the history of the Hamptons working class which was a beautiful combination of Irish and East European immigrants, Native Americans, and freed slaves was nearly entirely forgotten).  The changes the region needs are radical but they are not even thinkable because the only constituency we can imagine are the millionaires who’s problems amount to a guy driving over their house in a helicopter once or twice a day.

That’s why, beyond the fact that I lived there for nearly 16 years, the Hamptons are important to me. Because it’s the end of the line for where our economic model goes.  Because it goes along the line where gentrification crosses into colonization.

anonymous asked:

Hi! How long do you think it would take for plants to overgrow an abandoned and destroyed city with no human life in it? For reference this city was bombed and burned (not radioactively).

It would depend on how thickly forested you would want the area.

  • 5 years: You will see some small trees and concrete being busted up by new growth. Priorly planted areas will be over grown and unmanageable. Small animals, insects, and large herbivores will be attracted to the area and establish populations.
  • 10 Years: Concrete will be almost overgrown and trees will be further busting up the side walks and buildings may start to collapse due to the plants or disrepair from severe weather. Herbivore populations will have attracted small predators and the occasional lone large one.
  • 25 Years: Large buildings will have mostly collapsed due to damage done to their structure by tree roots. Asphalt and sidewalks will be mostly gone or reduced to patches of rubble. Roads will be unusable due to their disrepair or gone completely. Ecosystems will be mostly developed and water sources may begin to appear in areas where they may not have before.
  • 50 Years: Most traces of buildings and other human civilization except for heaps of rubble will likely be gone or covered in plant growth. Roads and side walks will have disappeared and full blown ecosystems will have re-established themselves in the area.
  • 100 Years: Ecosystems will thrive without human civilization and most if not all traces of humans will be gone or buried under new dirt and substrate, allowing plants to grow over it and life to go on without it. Areas will be thickly grown in with trees and shrubbery that would resemble a national park or state sanctuary.

It really depends and most of those times are a guestimate. For cities like NYC or Chicago,  would guess it would take about 50% longer because of how heavily industrialized and concreted the area is while small towns or rural areas could disappear about 25% faster due to the spread out nature of most small towns. Severe weather such as hurricanes, wildfires, heavy flooding, tornadoes, tsunamis/tidal waves, sinkholes, and earthquakes would speed things up drastically by the thorough devastation of a civilized area.

I hope this helps and is what you were looking for! So sorry this sat in the ask box for so long!
-Mod Fluke

(Most of these time estimates are just that, estimates, and are based off of what I know about plant growth and the behavior of ecosystems interacting with human civilization.)

Today & tomorrow I’ll be introducing some of the characters from Wonder Woman: Warbringer, my new novel about Diana, Princess of the Amazons before she became the hero we know. (It arrives August 29th and you should pre-order it, yes? And save your receipt because reasons, yes?)

First up: Alia. Alia Keralis thinks she knows who she is—loves science, bad at parties, desperate to escape her overprotective brother’s rules. But what she doesn’t know is that she comes from a line of Warbringers, descendants of Helen of Troy destined to bring about an age of bloodshed. Lots of people want Alia dead—but she has Diana on her side.

WW Warbringer FAQ:

Is this a graphic novel or a novel novel? It’s a novel novel. The gorgeous character art I’m sharing was created by the brilliant @jenbartel. She is magic.

Ok, so what’s the novel novel about? Here’s a link to the official summary. This is the story of Diana at age 17— the only Amazon ever born on Themyscira, the only one of her warrior sisters never tested in battle. It’s about the gods and mortals determined to use a young girl to shape the future of the world. It’s about two girls standing together against the tide of war. Expect badass ladies, Greek mythology, found family, and Diana smacking down bros on the NYC subway.

Hold up, is this a movie novelization? No, this is my take on Diana’s story, her first contact with the mortal world, and the mythology of the Amazons.

So there will be Amazons? Hell yeah. This way to Themyscira.

But what about Steve Trevor? No Steve. (Sorry, Chris Pine. You seem like a swell fella!)

Where can I get it? Pre-order here!

Will there be pre-order swag on offer? Oh yes. Details tomorrow!

More characters coming your way in just a bit.

My Funny Valentine

Prompt: You meet Bucky after a terrible night and he decides to be your Valentine.

A/N: a rewrite of something i did a while ago.

Warnings: Some fluff and some smut (not a lot tho). Also swearing, but that’s kinda a given with my writing.

The taxi in front of you sped off, the couple in the back giving you apologetic shrugs as they were the ones to get there first.

“Fuck!” You yelled, the coldness of New York City nipping softly at your nose. Your voice echoed off the buildings around you, people passing by you while you had a mental breakdown.

  • How Taylor wrote Innocent about the VMA incident when she could’ve just told you-know-who to fuck off
  • How Innocent looks at the subject from the perspective of their childhood and how they had “monsters” and “demons” that made them do bad things later in life and how this doesn’t make them a bad person
  • Knowing that you-know-who was one of Taylor’s favorite artists growing up so Innocent is also Taylor reconciling with herself how someone she artistically looked up to for years hurt her

“It’s your ten-year High School reunion, y/n. You have to go.” He stated, standing up from the chair and walking to the mirror that hung on the wall opposite the kitchen breakfast counter. He adjusted his tie before sighing, turning to you, his eyes pleading for you to help. You walked up to the sandy haired man, giggling as you fixed his navy tie. “Just think about it, what I’d do to go back to my ten-year reunion and give the people a piece of my mind.” You laughed aloud, shaking your head.

Once you were college-aged, with your peers also past the age of maturity, it became standard issue to ask about the tattoos when you were getting to know a group of people. You always went for the oldest first – because they would have had theirs the longest, and might have met their soul mate already, and if so you wanted to hear the stories. (The funnier or more meet-cute the better.) For this reason, Bahorel, as a tall and broad and scruff-bearing fellow whose relatively older age tended to be readily apparent, always got asked before anyone else. Why?

He didn’t have one.

Just curious if you did a break down of ESNY lyrics. id like to see your take on it.

I haven’t, but howbow now?

A lot of fans think Ever Since New York is about that unholiest of fauxmances, Haylor, since the primary stuntin’ took place in NYC. Listening to the lyrics, I agree with that.

Picture it: NYC, December 2012. 1D is at a career high, having played to a sold out Madison Square Garden crowd. This level of hotness must have smelled like blood in the water to fake ass fame vampire, Taylor Swift and her team. So commence fakelationship stuntin’!

I’ll show you what skeeved me out the most. The hotel ho strolls:

They’d make sure to pap Harry coming and going so that fans would infer that the s-e-x must have surely taken place. Classy. This is how music is marketed. Why God?

Meanwhile, all this fakery was apparently taking a toll on Louis:

And the Elounor awkwardness was later mocked by Grimmy:

And it only got worse from there. By New Year’s Eve, Tay Tay was reveling in this Times Square look-at-me spectacle:

Harry, not so much:

This was the point where 1DHQ really dug in with the closeting. Payzer 2.0 launched December 2012, too. Not a coincidence. This is where reality must have really set in. And this is just based on what we can piece together. God only knows what kinds of conversations took place bts to put all this in place. But I can imagine it was dehumanizing and demoralizing. Aggressive hetero stuntin’ would become the new normal for 1D.

So that’s the kind of stuff that would’ve influenced ESNY. It’s easy to understand why he still feels some type of way about it.

Harry:

Tell me something, tell me something
You don’t know nothing, just pretend you do
I need something, so tell me something new
Choose your words ‘cause there’s no antidote
For this curse or what’s it waiting for
Must desert you just before you go

Harry is my people because he comes out the gate swinging. I’m guessing this first verse is directed at Taylor. Being older and having been in the business longer, Harry is looking to her to make him understand why this needs to happen. He wants her to help him make peace with it. But Taylor is the monster showbiz created. She has no wisdom to offer. So Harry is left grappling with this closeting, which feels like a curse. And “must desert you before you go” feels like a reference to the end of Haylor, where she played the role of good girl who got dumped…again.

There she is alone on a boat…deserted. This is what had to happen before she could go for good. It’s a reference to the fakery–knowing how things will play out before they even happen.

Oh, tell me something I don’t already know
Oh, tell me something I don’t already know

Again, Harry’s desperate for something more profound. I’m sure his team was telling him this was good for him, that it was in his best interests personally and professionally. But Harry isn’t really buying it.

Brooklyn saw me, empty avenues
There’s no water inside this swimming pool
Almost over, that’s enough from you
I’ve been praying, I never did before
Understand I’m talking to the walls
And I’ve been praying ever since New York

Harry was able to venture out into the boroughs, unbothered. But in Manhattan? It was lights, cameras, stunt time! And Haylor is like a empty swimming pool: an artifice without purpose. Just like a pool needs water to fulfill its purpose, a relationship needs a real emotional bond to fulfill its purpose. And of course, there wasn’t one. Harry’s counting the days until Taylor sails her fraudulent ass away on that boat. Enough! Same Harry. Same. These are trying times and Harry’s literally praying his way through it–searching for strength where he hadn’t looked before. That’s how profoundly hurtful this experience is for him And he’s been praying ever since. We know why.

fashion consults!

as most of you know, I was in the hospital this month. why? my heart. again. always. two cardiac arrests within a fifteen minute span as I was getting ready for work; an ambulance came and got me and everything. after that, it was two weeks of tests and surgery and new medications and short-term disability and ultimately, no answers. my heart condition remains a rare and mysterious jewel. so good news: I’m alive. bad news: I’m an american who just spent two weeks in the best electrocardiology ward in new york city. which means medical bills. so many fucking medical bills.

now, I have insurance, but before it kicks in I have a significant deductible to meet. every scrap of every paycheck is going towards those bills for the foreseeable future. which isn’t great, considering I took two-thirds of my closet off to a consignment store about a month before this happened. You guys know me, I’d like to be able to fill it out again. so I’m proposing a trade: I’ll dress you if you dress me.

I’ll ask you to send me five to seven pictures of outfits, styles, or fashion icons that you like. from there, I’ll write up my impressions of your fashion goals, advise you towards certain trends, and help you solidify your sense of personal style. (here is an example)

**request via an ask - include your email address, your name, and which service you want - I’ll send you an email and we can begin the conversation there.**

(note: all these prices are suggested. obviously if you’re willing to donate more, I’d appreciate it, each option takes about an hour and a half more to do than the option preceding it. if you want something different than what I’m offering, send me a message and we’ll talk details.)

(second note: I’ll be doing these requests in the order I get them. When I get your inquiry, I’ll let you know where you are in the queue.)

I’ll still be giving out style advice all the time on this blog, don’t worry! But in-depth, individually tailored stuff takes me a lot of time, and I’d like to be able to turn that into something I can use to buy shoes that won’t fall apart with nyc wear.

hope to dress you soon! ♥

I know it’s popular to believe Eliza was active in her legacy; that she chose to be so silent.

But from everything I’ve read, none of that appears to be true.  She didn’t recede into the background at any point during her life.  She did things and she had the ear of many people, and she took advantage of that.  She reveled in her role as the widow of Alexander Hamilton, the daughter of General Philip Schuyler, the favorite of George Washington.  She was invited to travel with Lafayette up the Hudson in 1824.  They gave her the royal treatment up the Mississippi on her way to visit William in the 1830s.  The president came to see her on New Year’s Day in 1853.  Do you know that social causes became so popular in NYC in the early 19th century in part so you could rub shoulders with Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton? She worked for causes she cared about for fifty years, and she was celebrated for that during her life (and in the few years after)!  They appreciated who she was and what she’d accomplished and knew she was a great lady and worthy of praise and admiration.

To look at what she got during her life from the people of her time and then to look at how historians treat her–by putting the silent woman narrative on her–they’re just trying to justify their own lack of interest.  And they use the fact that she burned her letters to her husband (a totally normal act for women of her time) as some great excuse for their laziness.

A/N: making this into a series peeps! i didn’t think that a one-shot would suffice for what i wanted to write, soooooo, here it is!

Part 2

You grew up in Northeast New Jersey, so taking the bus back from NYC and your hometown wasn’t as hard as many might think. You soon heard about this new musical that many were anxious to see, and even your friends were constantly telling you about it. You ignored them, of course, because Broadway felt like an opera to you. Listening to showtunes and watching a show about one of the founding fathers just was not your cup of tea.

“Come on, Y/N! Just one song, please!” You friend begged, holding out their phone to you. You sighed, sipping on your coffee. It was freezing outside, below zero. You wore the biggest coat you owned, with giant earmuffs you found in one of your boxes.

You recently moved back to NJ, tired of the city life in Manhattan. Your family was right; living in the city was for people who were always on the go. Since you were the opposite of that, a writer, bumping into people in the streets every day, passersby’ stepping on your toes, was not the most entertaining thing you’ve done. Living there for four months was enough for you.

“No.” You grumbled, looking out the window of the local coffee shop. Your friend continued to whine about the stupid musical, and you eventually gave in, putting on the earbuds that she gave you. She played the opening song, called Alexander Hamilton. You smirked at the cheesiness, but pressed play.

“How does a bastard, orphan, son of a whore, and a Scotsman, dropped in the middle of a forgotten spot in the Caribbean…”

The song trailed on, and you bumped your head to the beat unconsciously, listening to the lyrics. You were surprised on how it sounded more like a mainstream song than a play. You didn’t notice your friend grinning at you, doing a little fist pump.

After the song finished, you gave her back her phone, sipping on your coffee once more. She looked at you, expecting a reaction. You shrugged, playing with your straw.

“It was alright.” Her eyes widened at your response. You didn’t want to give her the satisfaction of saying that you actually liked it, so denying it was the best way to go.

“Alright? It’s amazing, Y/N! Lin Manuel worked on this play for years, it’s anything but alright.” She mocked your tone, and you frowned at her.

“I told you, I don’t like Broadway shows. They’re boring and follow the same theme. I’m not interested.” She put her face in her hands, shaking her head slowly. You grinned at her actions, bringing your gaze back to the scene outside. Everyone seemed to be always on the move; headphones in and ignoring the world around them. You pitied them; they will never understand the world outside their screens.

“How am I friends with you?” She mumbled.

The rest of the time you were enjoying your break, she told you all the facts of the musical, even showing you some of the cast members. You couldn’t help but stare longer at the man who created the musical; Lin Manuel Miranda.

He was handsome, really handsome. You made a mental note of searching him up later, when your friend wasn’t bugging you about some tickets that she got. She convinced you to join her to see the musical, since your other friend cancelled on her last minute.

“If I go see this with you, would you stop trying to make me listen to the rest of the soundtrack?” You asked, throwing away the empty container into the recycling bin. She nodded quickly, to the point where you wondered if she gave herself whiplash.

“See you tomorrow!” She skipped away, trying to catch the next bus to bring her back home to Manhattan. You looked the train back to your town in NJ, taking less than twenty minutes to get there. You dragged yourself up the stairs, and into the apartment, closing the door behind you.

Later that night, you researched Lin Manuel Miranda. You were surprised that he wrote other plays, and won various awards for things that he created. It was a shock that he was single, his good looks and achievements made you think he’d be married and have children already. As you stalked this man online, your eyes began to close, blinking slowly. Before you fell asleep, you clicked on a link. Your eyes drooped closed, your face falling on your keyboard.

The sun shined in your face, causing you to blink quickly, glaring through your semi open lids. You groaned, rolling over. You reached for your phone, feeling a plant tangled in your fingers instead. You blinked, pushing yourself off the grass.

Wait.

Grass.

You were sleeping outside.

On the grass.

You looked around you, realizing that you were in an open field. It was eerily quiet, not even the birds chirping or the scurrying of squirrels climbing trees. A tent a few hundred feet away caught your attention, so you decided to approach it. You were still dressed in your sweats and tank top, what you thought you wore to bed. Before you reached the tent, a man came out, dressed in what seemed like a colonial uniform from the 1800s. His back was to you, but you noticed that his brown hair was long, pulled back into a hair tie. For some reason, your stomach churned staring at the man.

Did you stumble across some revolutionary reenactment? Is that why the man looked threatening, like he would shoot you at first glance? You searched your mind for some reason as to why you were outside, but the last thing you remembered was sitting next to your laptop.

You went against every instinct that told you not to go to the man, pushing your feet forward. He stopped moving, and you hesitated. He held his musket tight in his hand, quickly turning around to face you. He pointed his gun at your chest, an angry look on his face. You raised your hands quickly, shaking.

His eyes met yours, and he lowered his gun, confused. You gasped at the face in front of you.

It was Lin-Manuel Miranda. The famous guy you were researching last night.

“Miss, what are you doing out here?” He questioned, his hands still tight on the gun. You stumbled on your words, star-struck.

“Uh, I’m, um…” He put his gun in his holder on the side of him. His eyes were stuck on your body, the heat rising in his face. You wondered if he never saw a woman in a tank top before. “Excuse me, my eyes are up here.”

His eyes quickly made it back to your face, clearing his throat. “You did not answer my question, miss.” He replied, standing up straight.

“I’m sorry, but I have no clue why I’m out here. I woke up on this field. Maybe I sleep walk?” You said, lowering your arms. The leaves rustled on nearby trees, causing you to shiver, holding your arms tight against his chest. Lin realized how cold you were, and took off his overcoat, passing it to you. You thanked him, quickly throwing it on your body.

“Do you know where your home is? It must be close by.” You looked around, recognizing nothing in the vicinity. You turned back to Lin, and he had a small smile on his face.

Strange.

“Well, I live in an apartment complex near 42nd street. I don’t remember seeing any open fields in the middle of the city.” You mumbled. He stared at you, a puzzled look on his face. He chuckled softly. “What?” You questioned.

“Are you okay, miss? I never heard of this forty-second street or an apartment complex? We’re in Virginia.” He stated, crossing his arms. “Were you sent by Laurens to play a joke on me? Wait, are you trying to seduce me?” He moved his hand back to the gun on his side.

This guy must be crazy. He lives in NYC, he grew up in Washington heights. For crying aloud, the Richard Rogers theater is right in the heart of Manhattan. You glanced around him, noticing more tents around. Wait, there was more than just ten.

There were hundreds.

You stared at Lin.

His outfit seemed quite authentic, to the dirt under his nails to the blood-stained pants. You don’t recall seeing the pictures online having red marks on the pants. He looked young, too, maybe in his early twenties. Not the man you recall seeing on the internet that was in his late thirties. He was staring at you as well, still cautious.

“What’s your name?” You asked.

“Alexander Hamilton.” He said simply, with a small bit of pride in his voice. You still fought off the idea that this may not be the time you were supposed to be in.

“Do you know who Elizabeth Schuyler is?” He shook his head, his foot tapping against the ground.

“What is a television set? A laptop?” He frowned.

“Are you telling me about a new weapon the British created? Who are you, miss?” He took out his gun from the position on his hip. “Who sent you here? And I’m not going to ask again.” You realized what’s going on.

“Tell me the year.” You said, your eyes widening. He didn’t say anything, his mouth in a straight line. “Tell me the year.” You repeated sternly. He smirked at you, rolling his eyes.

“1776.” He said, and you dropped onto the ground. He jumped back, confused.

1776. The year, it’s 1776.

What the hell is going on here?

anonymous asked:

Where is your proof that Louis is the UK?

Proof is taken so seriously in here.

It’s the twins bday tomorrow.

There’s pic of him almost every day now, 2 from older times (2013 pic, pic w fan).

They have used these distractions forever, having the tendency to post misdated/delayed pictures when both of them are MIA.

Both are MIA.

They’re distracting you. Here’s what I’m focusing on:

There’s silence for days now. H and L and Jeff are in UK, being Mia.

FEB 1 passed and Suddenly Louis’ image (handwriting, JHO) is or CAN BE used and he drew JHO enough times in NYC that there’s no doubt it’s his handwriting.

Suddenly Steve can name himself using words from JHO.

Suddenly Louis can post about JHO on FB.

Suddenly Louis can tweet about writing more songs.

Suddenly Steve can talk about the future (more collabs, ton of songs written). Remember the starking difference during promo 2.0? (Umm we’re just trying it out, we’re not sure, just jamming, we will see, no plans just meeting on Twitter via a DM,it’s all a miracle. etc etc.) Lies. Lies. Lies.

And suddenly the interviews turn professional and there’s no more baby question.

But there’s still no announced dates for promo 2.0 apart from Corden.

Austin makes a Livestream (he never did any) where his friend says there’s no Freddie. No damage control. The next day there’s another Livestream where he calls F johnny. Now. If I were their team and I wouldn’t ever want this fiasco I would’ve done damage control and would’ve never allowed that kid close to a laptop, much less taking another Livestream. Let alone w Freddie himself who he outed the day before.

EDIT the Johnny video seems to be old.

Still. No damage control. It’s silence. It’s a selfie where he shows his tattoo. The 28. It could mean anything. But it happens to be the last day of this month. March. March. March. So many contract related things point to march. ‘Hiatus started’, full stop founded, Elouno ending, Hadine ending. March is important in this fandom.

Baby Barnes - Bucky Barnes x Reader

Summary : Reader is pregnant with Bucky’s child, and she’s scared shitless of telling him.

This is part of some sort of a serie I write, where the reader is afraid to say she’s pregnant to her s/o basically. Here’s the one for Cap’ : Baby Rogers, for Wolverine : Baby Logan, and for Batman : Baby Wayne. For some reason, Bucky was the most difficult to write about…hope you’ll still like it :

_________________________________________________

Pregnant. You were pregnant. That’s what the two little vertical lines meant. Positive. Fuck. What the Hell were you gonna do ?

You toss the test in the corner of your bathroom, and it joins the twenty other test you took. You know, just to be sure…What the Hell were you gonna do ?

How were you going to tell Bucky ?

Ever since Iron Man discovered your boyfriend killed his mother (it wasn’t his fault, he was brainwashed !), and ever since the government decided to control superheroes more, ending the already fragile friendship between Steve and Tony…You and Bucky never stayed in the same place for long.

You had been in Helsinki, Finland, for already two weeks, and that was already a miracle…you usually never stayed at one place more than a few days.

This wasn’t a life for a baby, always on the run, never able to stay in the same place for long etc etc…and yet, you wanted it. You wanted it so bad. Because you craved for a (somewhat) normal life with Bucky. For a time where you wouldn’t have to move so much. Of course, things would never be easy, Bucky had some massive PTSD but…Was it too much to ask to not be chased all the time ? It was probably.

When you started to get serious with Bucky, you knew what you were getting into…he even warned you, and tried to push you away. And yet you stayed.

You were sitting in the bathroom, trying to fight your tears…Crying wasn’t going to help. You knew you couldn’t keep that baby. You’ll just have to…

-(Y/N) ? Bucky ? Anyone’s home ?

Steve. That was Steve’s voice. You finally left the bathroom to go meet with your friends.

-It’s hardly “home” Cap’, you know.
