14 miles…

I’m not going to pretend it was easy or all that fun (umm, its not) but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be either.

I’m not fast by most runners standards (10:00-10:20 p/mile pace). In fact, my uncle flat out told me That I’m “slow”….back in February…that comment hasn’t stuck with me or anything…

However, while I was running today, I realized that my overall pace wasn’t that much of a concern to me. I was more interested in sticking with my group…my team. I was more interested in proving that I CAN do this…even if that means that my pokey little (big, actually) ass is the last one to cross that finish line.

Lord knows my overall time is going to be MUCH slower since I plan to stop to see every person I know…parents, friends, colleagues, ex-boyfriends, my new boyfriend (juuussssttt kidding). They’re all coming out to support me and I’m certain I’ll cry each time one of them is within my sight. Now that will make me really slow…and pretty ugly too. Oh well!

This experience is pretty cool and so far it’s also something to be proud of. I’m going to keep that mindset for the next 2 months…it will be here before you know it!
