A Babysitting Love Affair | Zach Dempsey x Reader

Genre: Romance, Fluff
POV: Reader’s/First Person

A/N: This was requested by anon! I hope you guys will like this as much as my first one. I kind of ramble on but please bear with me lol.
Request: could i request a zach dempsey x reader where the reader is babysitting zach’s sister, and zach haven’t met the babysitter yet and one day he goes home early and falls in love with her?

—–

“I’ll be there tomorrow morning Mrs. Dempsey.”

“Alright love, thank you so much!”

I smile as I close the door after Zach’s mom who asked me to babysit Zach’s little sister, May. She mentioned that she will have to go to Chicago for the weekend to take care of something and I was assigned to be May’s companion overnight since her brother is an extremely busy guy. The Dempseys are a close family friend, too bad I’m not really that close with Zach or May. It’s probably because we go to different high schools and it doesn’t really help that I can be anti-social at times. I know nothing about them, and they know nothing about me in return so it’s all good.

—–

The next morning

“I’ll be leaving now or else I’ll miss my flight! Thank you so much again Y/N for babysitting. I’ll see you girls tomorrow morning alright? Feel at home love, my number’s on the fridge if you need me and I left money for any emergency. Zach won’t be here until dinner tonight. He has basketball practice.” Mrs. Dempsey says as she bids goodbye to Zach’s little sister and I.

“Got it Mrs. Dempsey! We’ll see you tomorrow.” I finally say with a smile.

“Bye mom! I’ll be good, I promise!” May puts her right thumb out to her mom and waves goodbye.

“So, what do you want to do today, May?” I ask her as we’re left alone inside the house.

“Hmm, I don’t really have anything in mind. Oh wait I know! Let’s style each other’s hair.” She suggests with a gleam in her eyes; she looked so excited.

“Sure kiddo.” I reply with a smile and we proceed to the living room to watch TV. May got all of her hair accessories from her room for us to use. She decided that it’d be fun to start with my hair first and put them in pigtails and so she did. She chose these pink puffy hair bands to tie my hair. May had long, black and shiny hair which reminded me of Katniss Everdeen so naturally, I chose to put her hair in a fish tail braid.

“Wow Y/N, you’re really good at this!” she beams after her make over.

“Why thank you, Miss Everdeen.” I reply with a bow and she giggles in response.

A couple of hours later and it was almost lunch time. May wanted to order pizza and so we did. She didn’t like vegetables so we opted for a classic cheese pizza instead. A few minutes later and the doorbell rang, I ran to the door to open it, with the money in my left hand.

“Thank you so–” I begin to greet the pizza man but a ginormous, muscular guy hovered above me instead.

i did the hemospectrum lifespan math. turns out, the hemospectrum is ridiculous.

as you can see from my maths sheet (with some explanations hastily added here and there,) the references I used were from canonical sources (hussie and the comic itself) stating that:

  1. the burgundy bloods live about 30-50 human years
  2. lifespans begin to go over a century with the greens
  3. ceruleans can outlive “dozens” of midbloods
  4. the fushia bloods can live a Long Fucking Time, which i quantified for math purposes

my “evidence only” chart uses only those first three canonical facts, with some guesstimates for fuchsia.

i plotted those on a chart, realized it was ridiculously exponential, then plotted the ln of the values on a chart, which you see. i then tried out some fits on the max values, and found a second degree polynomial was almost perfect.

this made a formula for maximum really simple - just use the fit formula and raise e to it.

i needed to come up with something a little arbitrary for min though, since i only had two points. so i decided that i wanted the difference in the ln of maximum and minimum age to increase either linearly or polynomially - meaning that the difference between actual maximum and minimum age would increase at a very fast exponential rate. this makes sense, because there are lots of things that can kill trolls early in their lives, but being higher on the hemospectrum does give them quite a bit of toughness. so their minimum age should increase significantly, but not nearly as fast as the maximum age.

i ended up using a cubic increase - i got that magic d#3 number by simply dividing the difference in the fuchsia and burgundy age gaps by the cube of 12, then multiplying that magic number by the cube of the index (with maximum of 12) in the actual difference formula. add that to the base difference and subtract it from the ln of the maximum age and raise e to the whole thing, and bam, minimum age. math!

as you can see, the math gave me the desired realistic result.

it turns out that in order to display the hemospectrum differences, you need four separate overlapping column charts. if you try to plot all 12, you can see violet and fuchsia and nothing else. (the obvious solution would be to display it as an ln, but then you couldn’t appreciate the magnitude of the increase! it just ends up looking nice and smooth:)

the middle chart is how many lives of lowbloods each highblood can expect to live. i.e. a fuchsia blood can expect to live the lives of 307 thousand burgundy bloods, and 11 violet bloods. if you follow the diagonals, you can see the exponential increase by the fact that the diagonals are increasing! (e.g. olive lives about 2 lime lives, while violet lives about 8 purple lives.)

Also I finally put all my posters up. I’m sorry the photo is so low-quality, but it’s the best I could do. Just take my word for it, everything looks great!

How I take notes

Hey guys! Someone asked me to break down my note taking process a while ago so I thought I’d just make a post about it! This is how I take notes from textbooks.

I first pick out a color scheme for my notes. I typically set aside two or three different colored pens, one highlighter and two different color post it cubes. The number of pens I use depends on how many sub topics and titles my book has.

This textbook had three subdivisions, chapter, topics, and subdivisions of the topics, so I used three different colors. I typically write out the chapter titles in one color and underline the topics and subdivisions in different colors.

Sometimes I write out all the different kinds of subdivisions with different colored pens too.

I use the post it notes for charts and diagrams. Important vocabulary words are highlighted with chisel end of my mildliner and less important vocabulary words with the finer side.

And that’s pretty much how I take my notes! I hope this helped!

Studying Tips and Tricks

  • Studying in a blue room relaxes your mood and makes you more productive, which is great for finishing up assignments and homework.

  • Spray an unfamiliar scent, and chew an unfamiliar flavor of gum while you’re having a study session.

  • Before you start your exam, write down the things you think you might need while they’re still fresh in your head at the top of the page such as formulas and vocabulary words.

  • ‘Times New Roman’ is the easiest and fastest font to read.

  • When writing an essay, add the opposing point of view to make the read look at both sides.

  • When you’re taking notes, pretend you’re writing them for some else, preferably someone you care about, and imagine them not knowing anything when it comes to the class you’re writing notes in.

  • Using colors when writing your notes helps you remember faster, avoid using only one color as it might dull out important information.

  • Change your font from 12pt to 14pt when writing essays, it looks the same but increases the number of pages by 1-2.

  • Cinnamon flavored gum helps you stay awake, use it for your morning classes.

  • Speaking something out loud helps your remember, so always read your notes aloud when you’re studying.

  • Reading the first and last paragraphs and only running over the middle has the same outcome as reading all of it.

  • Chocolate has the ability to improve your math skills.

  • Always have an alternative email, you never know when it might come in handy.

  • Cold showers over coffee anyway. It keeps you fresh the entire day, and also helps you stay focused and less tired throughout the day.

  • Reward yourself with 15-20 minutes of free time with every 45 minutes of studying.

  • If you’re pulling an all nighter, sleeping the 20 minutes before the sun comes up helps your body relax and you’ll be less tired.

  • Replace the color tube of your red pen with the blue one. No one steals a red pen, and no one wants it.

  • Always say yes to extra credit, no matter what your grade is. It can make a huge different seeing as it has the ability to change one percent which can change an entire grade letter.

  • ALWAYS DATE YOUR NOTES // ASSIGNMENTS.

  • Writing something down is an equivalent of saying something 7 times.

  • No matter how much time you have left, do it earlier. You’ll be glad you did.

  • Be friends with your teachers, you never know what can happen during the school year.

Have a study group, you’ll have friends to explain things to you and vice versa, also you can share notes and finish up homework without feeling like time is passing by slow.

  • Do not pay for your textbooks if you don’t have to. Even if you aren’t down with illegally downloading your books, you can waste hundreds of dollars on textbooks you will never open. Wait until your professor says that you’ll need it or if material from the book will be on an exam.

  • Try and have one friend in each class so if you miss a class, you have someone to tell you what you missed and let you copy notes.

  • If you’re in a productive mood, take advantage of it.

  • You are more important than anything in the world. Don’t ever put yourself in a bad situation for any reason ever, even if that means taking a day off for yourself

  • If there is anyone in your life who doesn’t think of you as highly as kayne thinks of himself then that person doesn’t deserve to be in your life you don’t need them

  • Try your best. not everyone can get all As, and getting all As does not make you better than everyone else. just do the best you can and be the best person you can be.

  • Don’t tick off your teacher, follow the rules to an extent, get to class on time, respect your classmates and teachers. you know, just be a decent person.

  • Find which clubs look interesting and go to their first meetings- there’s never an obligation to join, but you might meet a lot of new friends.

  • Get advice from other students on if your classes/teachers are difficult and figure out which ones you’ll need to work the hardest in.

  • Goals. When you sit down to study, write down everything you’re going to do and do it.

  • Tea and coffee - if not for the caffeine, then for the feeling of cozying up with your text books and feeling studious.

  • A place to study. it doesn’t matter if it’s in a coffee house, a library, or your kitchen table. as long as your bed’s not in sight and tempting you into a nap, you’re good.

  • Your mental health is more important than your grades/school work

Five years later, you are walking down the street while humming a song that was a big hit back in the eighties. You almost walk past a sidewalk coffee shop but you stop in your tracks almost immediately when you hear a very familiar song playing from the speakers in that coffee shop. The familiar sweet aroma of coffee is taking over your senses and you can’t help but turn your head to your left, to where the coffee shop is located at.

That’s it. That’s the one. That’s the coffee shop, you think to yourself. Somehow, it looks newer than it was before. The nostalgia starts to sink in as you let your eyes roam over the place through the glass as some customers are engage in conversation, as the workers are fully engrossed in their work. It really feels like home. Then a flash of memory starts to hit you hard, so hard that you find it difficult to breathe.

You used to ask him out for a cup of coffee and you’d sit at that small round table for two in the corner while waiting for him to come. And he used to ask you out too, for the same cup of coffee, and he’d sit and wait for you at the same round table for two, in the same coffee shop. You would see him smile and order the same black coffee each time, and you remember asking him about the bitter taste of it. “It was quite unbearable at first sip, at first cup. But you’ll get used to it after a few more sips, after a few more cups. Just like life.” He said on a rainy afternoon.

You would tell him about your day, anything that’s bothering you and everything that once made you smile. He would always listen carefully and closely to what you had to say, and it sure felt like everything was fading away when his eyes landed on yours. It was a daily routine of yours and his, and it was your everything back then.

You then remember the way he used to give you a gentle look that came along with a warm smile and how he knew the number of sugar cubes you’d want to stir into your coffee because he knew you that well, as well as you did; him.

A different song starts to play in that coffee shop and that snaps you out of your thoughts. You look far ahead and notice a lady in a white top with jeans and a pair of sneakers to match her top. She has a black bag draped over her shoulder and a medium length chestnut brown hair framing her face beautifully. Her steps are rather quick; quick but steady. It’s as though she is rushing to meet someone important.

She then makes a turn to her right and steps into the coffee shop. Your eyes follow her as she stops at a familiar table, at a familiar spot in the shop. You widen your eyes as you see a familiar figure standing at the other side of the table.

Who is he?

Is it him?

Is it?

A gentle smile spreads across his face.

That smile.

Oh that smile.

You can’t really forget his smile.

It’s him.

It really is him.

He reaches out to her and pulls her into a gentle embrace. You start to feel uneasy, for some reasons. You watch as she kisses him on his lips, as she smiles against his mouth, and somehow, you feel pain flaming across your chest. They look really good together, and really happy too. It’s been five years already, it shouldn’t hurt like this, you think.

Five years ago, he grabbed your hand and pleaded with you to stay but you forcefully pulled your hand out of his grasp and walked away like it was almost nothing. You didn’t even bother to look back at him. And now, you think that if you chose to stay back then, if you didn’t think about leaving at all back then, that happy lady who’s sitting across him right now, would be you instead.

It should have been you, if you did not leave him back then.

—  L.W. // Forgotten Words #54 // But you left, so life gave him a new love instead

“Remember when… HP was just a printer. Four was just a number. Sugar cubes were just for your tea. You didn’t care about ancient Greek or Rome. Ships were just big boats. Now look at you.”

This one was a guilty pleasure. It was way too much fun to sketch the symbols of some of my favorite fandoms. You will be my best friend if you know what each and every one is talking about.

The possibilities of the art of combination are not infinite, but they tend to be frightful. The Greeks engendered the chimera, a monster with heads of the lion, the dragon and the goat; the theologians of the second century, the Trinity, in which the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost are inextricably tied; the Chinese zoologists, the ti-yiang, a vermilion supernatural bird, endowed with six feet and four wings, but without a face or eyes; the geometers of the nineteenth century, the hypercube, a figure with four dimensions, which encloses an infinite number of cubes and has as its faces eight cubes and twenty-four squares. Hollywood has just enriched this vain museum of horrors: by means of an artistic malignity called dubbing, it proposes monsters that combine the illustrious features of Greta Garbo with the voice of Aldonza Lorenzo.

An AU Xiumin scenario where he is a university professor and you a student and you fall for each other and it's real sweet and he is so manly and ugh yes! End it however you want.. go manly xiumin!

Late Night Coffee ~Xiumin~ ☕

Sorry for not updating in forever, I’m finally on summer break so I’ll try to start updating more often. Here’s a scenario for our baozi :) - Admin S

“And so, in order to find the value of x, you must cube this number here and-“ Xiumin stopped mid sentence when he heard the classroom door open. He froze in his place and cast his eyes towards the door, only to see you standing there in the same frozen position.

You let out an awkward chuckle and shifted in your spot. “S-Sorry for being late, Professor,” you apologized. “I accidently slept in. My alarm didn’t go off.” You looked at the ground and waited for the scolding that was ahead of you.

But instead of a scolding, Xiumin only nodded and gestured towards your usual seat in the front. “Accidents happen. Take your seat and catch up with the lesson.”

You nodded and bolted to your seat, immediately taking out your textbook and trying to figure out where the class was.

Xiumin took one more glance at you and smiled a little before spinning around and continuing with his explanation, as if nothing just happened.
