Occupied Slovenia, 1941-1943.

On April 6, 1941, the Kingdom of Yugoslavia was invaded by the Axis. The war was over in two weeks and the kingdom was divided into several parts. In the Drava Banovina (Modern Slovenia without the Slovene Littoral), three countries occupied the lands: Germany took Upper Carniola (Gorenjska) and Lower Styria (Štajerska), Hungary took Prekmurje and Italy took Lower Carniola (Dolenjska) and the rest of Inner Carniola (Notranjska), forming the Province of Ljubljana. The situation would change in 1943 with the Italian capitulation when Germany took over its occupied areas.
