okay, testing the waters a bit here. this is a teeny tiny opening snippet of the fic I’ve been working on, nothing very exciting happens but if you like it please let me know? I’ve got 23,000+ more words written but it’s still not finished and I’m slowly losing the will to live. (it’s jehanparnasse with other background ships.)
One Thousand Nights
“We’re having people over tonight,” Éponine announces, shouldering the front door open and slamming into the apartment like a Doc Marten clad whirlwind.
“Are we.” Montparnasse doesn’t bother to look up from where he’s draped across the one good chair in front of the open window, cigarette in one hand, shoplifted copy of Italian Vogue in the other. “Since when?”
SOMEWHERE ONLY WE KNOW - set in middle-earth, general audiences, HBB16
“Thranduil’s hands fall clenched into fists by his sides, his fingernails digging into his palm. He doesn’t wake up, and a part of him is relieved; sometimes pain is the price to pay for a little bit of comfort, and comfort is what he finds in the lines of Bard’s face.”
I have been trying to stick to a new routine to more efficiently use my time during the work week. I am very much a person that likes a plan & routine, I am definitely not a “ride or die” type of gal. Last year I was particularly bad about not making enough time for things I wanted to do, it is also challenging working a time zone that is 7 hours ahead of your work so I fell into a lot of bad & time wasting habits that I am trying to curb.
Nothing very exciting, but I always love reading about others’ routines. These are a few of the changes I’ve started making to my regular day:
Wake up by 7:30am / Go to Bed by 2am
I work an afternoon-to-night shift, it’s really easy to get caught up in staying up very late & sleeping in until late morning. It’s not uncommon for me to stay up until 3am-4am because I don’t get off until 11pm. I thought this recent change would be the toughest, but it has flowed pretty naturally since I have been forcing myself to get up early since I came back from Spain.
My caffeine intake has always been horrific ever since I was a uni student. I typically drink 2-3 cups of coffee, an espresso & 2-3 cups of tea depending how I feel in an average day. I have such a dependency on caffeine, I am prone of caffeine headaches if I don’t drink it enough. The past 2 weeks I’ve been averaging 1 morning coffee & 2 cups of tea throughout the day with only an occasional espresso if it’s an energy emergency. My energy level definitely isn’t as high as usual, but I’ve been sleeping much better.
I do like exercising & it’s a great rush of endorphins for me, but I’ve always had a hard time keeping to a schedule because I have a short attention span. I’m trying to workout more frequently throughout the day for shorter periods of time. I’m currently in a schedule of 2-3 times a day. I do 20 mins of yoga while coffee is brewing (As a caffeine addiction, this might be the hardest part of my day), either jog or hike for a longer duration before I start work in the afternoon & I try to do 20 mins of body weight workout on my dinner work break… This latter bit doesn’t always happen depending on my workflow.
Limit Time Online
I work irregular hours, I usually have to be available to my office between 1pm - 11pm CEST, though some of this on-call type of work. I feel like I have wasted so much of my free time online between work & checking social media I just don’t care about, like mindlessly scrolling through Facebook. I want to be more present in my off hours so during the week once I’m done with work, phone & computer go off for the night. Mornings, I’m only allowing myself to read the news & practice my language app over coffee, otherwise everything else has to be off.
Preview of My Morning Schedule:
Wake-up & start brewing coffee immediately [I have a French Press so it takes a bit longer because apparently I am a pretentious hipster]
20 mins of yoga
Slow breakfast [I am a boring eater: Yogurt, grapes & bit of baguette everyday] & coffee while I spend at least 20 mins working of my foreign language app, catch up on world news & I try to read a few pages of whatever novel is the flavor of the week]
Jog / Hike / Complete errands [I have a different weekly schedule for how I alternate these tasks]
I usually don’t get back until about a half hour before my work shift starts so I just try to do any little chores around the house or start lunch. I try to do more chores in the morning now since I usually did them at night & it was just another thing to keep me up later.
Plot: Three teens, all wanted for the murder of the same girl, escape from police custody and try to find the culprit by themselves. Stars TOP and Seungri from Big Bang.
This movie wasn’t very interesting, and it wasn’t very boring either. It had a very simple plot with a very simple conclusion, there were no plot twists, and nothing very exciting happened. However, I think it was because of its simplicity that I liked it. There was some commentary on youth, being nineteen, not knowing what you want to do with your life, wasting your time, trying to follow your dreams, and the transience of being young that I could really relate to.
Notes/Observations: TOP and Seungri are both amazing actors. Seriously. I LOVE LOVE LOVE all of their shoes.
TOP has that nasty 2000s hairstyle but he manages to pull it off.
2009 Seungri REALLY looks like Hyuk from VIXX.
I like that a lot of the scenes in this movie are set in the country rather than Seoul. The place where I watched this (KissAsian) had a hugely irritating bar of text at the bottom that was there the whole movie. The girl in this looks a LOT like Kim Tae Hee, another Korean actress, who, interestingly enough, stars in IRIS, a 2009 drama that has TOP as a cast member.
Ino Hiroki (Suga) as Kuchiki Byakuya Shiota Kouhei (Tanaka) as Madarame Ikkaku Asuma Kousuke (Oikawa) as Ichimaru Gin as well as Nagata Takato (Kenma) as Hitsugaya Toushirou and Hashimoto Zen’itsu (Kamasaki) as Hisagi Shuuhei have just had their opening night for Rock Musical Bleach!
The Happy End’s engine had been running kind of hot for a while now, hopefully it wasn’t anything too serious but they couldn’t just keep buzzing around. It needed some maintenance, that was a solid fact; Roadrage had found located a near-by Autobot friendly location and brought her in for some well deserved rest.
“Alright lets see what’s she’s fussin’ bout.” The femme grunted, grabbing the tool box as she hopped off the ship and onto the dry, dusty ground. The moon they’d settled down on was barren now, save for a few flimsy built up bases here and there. The site was once home to a battlefield but overtime the cons had moved on to bigger and better places and therefore the Autobots did follow. Now the lifeless moon rock was empty which made for the perfect place to land and give the old ship some work.
“Interesting…What was the point of fighting over this place anyhow? Its just a plain moon, nothing very exciting or even beneficial about it.” The ambassador thought out loud, looking around at the poorly built structures nearby them.
“Who knows.” His guard chimed in, already arms deep in an open panel on the ship’s side. “Autobots had a make-shift base here and I guess the cons decided that if we were there they wanted it. Kinda stupid really, probably why everyone eventually came to there senses and took off.” A loud crack came from the piece she’d been working on and billows of smoke soon followed. Roadrage waved her hand in front of her face with a cough. “Alright, settle in boys, we’re gonna be here a while.”
Today was a special day, I went to the disassembly of the Tessin exhibition in the Louvre. On Tuesdays the museum is closed, so it’s the big day for huge art moving, even if the disassembly last during 2 weeks (and moving pieces of art in the museum is done everyday). Anyway ! I arrived and started to do things right away (nothing very exciting just taking of pieces of scotch out of conservation material to reuse it) but things stayed calm for a while because the Louvre hosted a Louis Vuitton runway today and their trucks were blocking the entrance for our trucks with the crate for paintings and drawings (srsly ? you’re invited and you put up a mess?). So this morning, priority was given to artpieces who had to be send to other exhibitions or simply go back to their original place. One part was for the Morgan Library in New York, and the rest back to the National Museum of Stockholm, because Tessin was Swedish and sold to the royal familly his collections. In this case, and everytime art is lend to another museum, you have to make statement for insurance. Statements are made before leaving the museum, once it arrived at the exhibition, once the exhibition is over (now for us), and once the artwork is back home. At the arrival and departure at the exhibition place, both institutions has to be represented. So there were two curators from Stockholm and one from the Morgan Library checking the paintings and drawings lent to the Louvre. I was following the Louvre’s drawings’ curator, who was very nice to me. She took the time to explain many things, answered my questions and told me when to go see a special moment, for exemple when they took off Tessin’s portrait. It is VERY impressive to see a huge painting move away from the wall. I was stressed out when the installers (who were adorable and also answered my question) took it in their hands and lift it up. The frame is the original one from the 18th century, so once they took it off, they put it on a table where the Louvre paintings curator and the Morgan Library restorer started to check if the frame didn’t suffered from the manoeuvre. They check the old statement and compare with their own files if an accident occured. Paintings suffer the most because their not under glass and therefore can have dust and could have been touched by visitors (where’s your respect ?!!). Next week when I’ll come back they’ll move Tessin’s castle furnitures. It’s gonna be so different than paintings and drawings ! Moving a table and chairs and all ! I can’t wait next week.
Tomorrow I’ll be back in the office, different style I guess !
