nothing ever perfect

ROBINS + LABELS (Happy birthday, @henwick aka my sweet smol child!)

iiithisismyusernameiii  asked:

I know this isn't your norm but can we have some kind of SuperCorp Bridal Style something? Because you know they are obviously dating now... right?

“Oh come on, Alex, she totally knows.”

Alex pffts and looks away and looks back and looks away and looks back.

“Alex. Yes. She does.”

Alex squints and leans across the bar to get a better look at Lena, at the way she’s fawning over Kara, at the way Kara’s leaning into her, the way Kara’s arm looks like it’s just twitching to toss itself over Lena’s shoulders.

“I’m not saying she doesn’t like Kara for Kara – hell, she seems even more in love with Kara than she’s enamored with Supergirl – but I’m saying, Danvers. She’s not stupid. And we’ve already agreed that the glasses really…”

“Are ridiculous, yeah,” Alex murmurs distractedly, staring all the harder at her sister and her sister’s maybe-not-really-what-are-you-talking-about-Alex-we’re-just-friends-come-on-I-mean-sure-I-like-her-what’s-not-to-like okay-I’m-gonna-stop-you-right-there-Little-Danvers-because-what’s-not-to-like-is-literally-the-phrase-your-sister-used-about-me-right-before-she-became-my-girlfriend girlfriend.

“What do you think they’re talking about?” Lena asks Kara on the other side of the bar when she catches Alex and Maggie both staring.

Kara has to try – hard – not to tell her exactly what Alex and Maggie are talking about, because in a bar this crowded, this loud, there would be no other way to explain her knowledge except superhearing. And she’s going to tell Lena – really, she is – but not yet, because she’s terrified, because Lena likes Kara for Kara, which is unbelievable and amazing but what if when she realizes that Kara is also Supergirl, she doesn’t like her for… her… anymore?

But she can’t say all that, not yet, not yet, so she splutters and she adjusts her glasses and she tries very hard not to spill her club soda all over her baby blue collared shirt that Lena had commented earlier brought out her eyes beautifully.

“Oh, um… probably… girlfriend stuff. Definitely girlfriend stuff.” She adds an authoritative nod for good measure, and Lena’s laughter sounds like faerie wings, and Kara’s heart leaps because she’s laughing, but she’s not laughing at Kara, and that… she… is perfect.

“Girlfriend stuff,” Lena deadpans, her voice rich and low and full of barely contained amusement.

Kara adjusts her glasses again. “Yeah. Like uh… what… hey, what do girlfriends talk about, anyway?”

Lena takes a long sip of her wine, and Kara tries – and fails – not to look at her lips.

“The same things we do, probably,” Lena answers after a thoughtful swallow, and Kara’s stomach flips because sometimes she thinks she knows Lena so well, but when they go anywhere near… this territory… she just can’t figure out what her feelings are… if she’s just happy to have a friend, or if these dates they’ve been going on are actually… you know…. dates.

She should ask Alex. Or Maggie. Or both. But not now. Not now, because now, Lena is draining her wine and standing up and Kara’s ex-boyfriend – not the amazing one – naturally chooses that moment to cross behind her, causing Lena to overbalance, to stumble, to start to fall.

Kara doesn’t think and she doesn’t calculate. She just sweeps one arm under Lena’s thighs and the other, strong around her back, scooping her up bridal style so she doesn’t fall, so she doesn’t roll her ankle, so she doesn’t…

But oh. Oh. Oh no.

Because now Lena’s breath is hitched and Alex and Maggie’s jaws are both on the bar and Lena’s pupils are dilating and her breath smells of wine and nothing has ever smelled so perfect and Kara can hear her heartbeat, feel it, and she hasn’t had anything but club soda but Rao does she suddenly feel drunk, and Rao is Lena’s body warm, and Lena’s arms are wrapped around her neck and Lena is speaking, softly, speaking, low, speaking, intimate.

“Well, these arms certainly do feel familiar,” Lena’s practically whispering, and it doesn’t matter that the bar is crowded, and it doesn’t matter that the bar is loud, and it doesn’t even matter that Kara has superhearing: the words penetrate her every cell with subtle, heated precision.

“I… I didn’t want you to… fall,” Kara splutters, and neither woman says anything about the fact that Kara still hasn’t put her down.

“Oh, Kara Danvers,” Lena husks softly, “I told you. You are my hero. I know you’d never let me fall” She brings her lips to Kara’s ear easily, protective of her secrets, of her safety, of her comfort and of her happiness. “Whether you’re in or out of that suit and cape.”

Heat sears throughout Kara’s entire body, and she has no words because she barely has breath, and she pulls back so she can look Lena in the eyes, and Rao she can’t help the way she glances down at her lips once, twice, three times, until Lena breathes, until Lena wets them, until Kara can’t take it anymore and closes the gap, because she can’t process anything except Lena, Lena, Lena.

They startle apart at a loud whoop from across the bar, and Kara sets Lena down gently, carefully, though they stay entangled in each other’s arms, entangled in each other’s breath.

“Boom! You owe me that flash grenade, Danvers!”

“I never said the glasses aren’t ridiculous!”

“Flash grenade!”

“Do we want to know why your sister’s girlfriend wants a flash grenade to begin with?” Lena grins into Kara’s ear.

“Not even a little bit,” Kara grins, and finishes what she started, and Rao, are Lena’s lips soft, and perfect, and smiling into their kiss, and Rao, Rao, Rao, she likes me for me, for me, for me.

When you meet your fave and he is every bit as nice and adorable as you thought he would be and you’re both really un-photogenic (and sleepy)  at midnight but it’s okay because you had a nice talk and good things happened for you and everything is great and nothing else matters.

the ishvalan flashbacks are always so poignant to me. wars like this are hard to talk about because the atrocities are still going on today but i’m glad that arakawa didn’t erase what happens. she shows the effects on both sides and does not by any means excuse what the amestrians did because they knew what they were doing. as far as portrayals go, i think it was handled well

Seriously, fuck Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift did NOT deserve AOTY in 2010 and she definitely did NOT deserve it in 2016. Why should mediocrity be rewarded just because a black man interrupted her sorry ass VMAs speech in 2009? I am done with Kanye West but there will always be two things (among a few others) that will forever be factual in our lives: “George Bush doesn’t care about black people,” and, “… Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!” I’m not even a Beyoncé stan and even I know the cultural impact of the “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” video.

Frank Ocean’s post wasn’t even about Taylor, Taylor’s mediocrity-loving fans made it about that mediocre bitch. Frank’s point was that the Grammys still reject the importance of hip hop and its culture. Can you imagine Madonna’s shitty Ray of Light album beating out Lauryn Hill’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill? Do you understand how backwards that would have been? Well, what the Grammys did last year was on that level of backwards ass shit. Seriously. To Pimp a Butterfly was and still is a living breathing piece of hip hop. It isn’t perfect, nothing can ever be perfect; but it was and will forever will be an important album. Those songs will be relevant for a very, very long time. The lyrics alone will be relevant for a very, very long time. The references to Tupac and to Jazz music and to funk music will be relevant for a very, very long time. What the fuck will be relevant about 1989 in 2029? I’ve heard people say it was important to feminism, but didn’t the bitch make “Bad Blood” in an attempt to tear down a fellow white bitch?

Frank’s post wasn’t even about Taylor. However, this post is about the mediocre bitch and no amount of bitching will make the bitch seem any less mediocre to me or many, many other people. Her next album will be garbage and we all know she’s going to milk this Frank Ocean thing to try to jimmy-rig another AOTY win, but we’ll just call her phony ass out more. This shit can go on for as long as it has to.

I legit can’t write for anyone other than Peter now ahhh
Hope you guys don’t mind xx

Your name: submit What is this?

"Ok, here, listen to this one,“ you insisted, handing Peter the headphones once more.

"Come on, Y/N,” he replies, rolling his eyes with a sheepish grin on his face.

You were sitting in your bedroom, listening to some of music you had picked out for Peter. He wasn’t a music buff, but you demanded that he spend a few hours listening to the music you recommended, and he’d do anything to see a smile on your face.

Thus, he accepts the headphones and looks at you as he listens intently. Peter pretends to understand the musicality of the song, but for the most part it’s just sound waves travelling through his head. But if this made you happy, he’d do it. Besides, it was a good excuse to spend time with you.

"So?“ you asked as the song finished. "What’s your rating?”

also persephone: i also hate that i didn’t get to choose him as my husband and that he kidnapped me just because he had permission from zeus to do so and he wanted me. i choose him now and all the years to come, but a part of me hated him and still will. he’s wronged me and he’s not allowed to forget it

One of the many many many things I love about karlena is that there’s no power imbalance? Like ok yeah lena is in a higher socio-economic class than Kara and Kara is like physically stronger but like what I mean is they both give and take from the relationship pretty equally on an emotional level like the need and love and respect each other the same but like with Mon-el he just takes and takes and takes from Kara she has like…. no fulfillment out of that but with Lena they compliment each other while still being their own person and not conforming to the others point of view but still respecting it.

Everything about their interactions is so healthy and good????? Despite the world being against them saying they shouldn’t get along should be friends shouldn’t help each other but like they are so good for each other

In conclusion Kara Zor-El “the best bi” Danvers and Lena “lesbian” Luthor are soulmates thank you and goodnight

Imagine Chris coming home early for your birthday.

A/N: My loves, this is a piece for all the birthday babies. Special shoutout to @shadowprincess0218 who requested a imagine for her birthday, here you go. Happy birthday, hun! Hope you have a wonderful, fantastic day. X

You strolled home from Magnolia Bakery with your phone against your ear and a paper box containing your favorite chocolate cupcake in your hand. You were on the phone with your boyfriend, Chris, who was in his home away from home in California due to work commitments. His job and its constant need to take him away from you didn’t bother you until it came to things like birthdays and anniversaries and holidays; those were the times that made you miss him the most. His absence made the day seem like just another day, which was why you declined when your friends wanted to take you out to dinner to celebrate.

“I wish you were here,” you told Chris and he smiled. “I don’t even care if we just eat cake and watch TV, I just want you to be next to me.” You used your shoulder to hold the phone against your ear so you could start picking at your cupcake. “You, me, Dodger-” you murmured with your mouth full, “that’s all I need.”

Little did you know that Chris was actually sitting on your apartment doorstep with a bouquet of roses in his hand and a small black box in his jacket pocket. He’d been planning to propose for a while- two and half years he’d been together with you, he didn’t want to wait any longer considering he knew six months in that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with you.

He had planned quite a few times to pop the question but nothing ever seemed perfect enough for someone as special as you. He finally decided to just do it when you subtly reassured him that you didn’t care how he did it because as long as it was him asking, that was that mattered. It was thanks to his mom, actually, that you found out he was thinking about proposing. A week ago, while you were having lunch with Lisa and she let slip he was stalling because he couldn’t think of the ‘perfect’ way to propose. You were touched because it was kind of cute; you always knew Chris was the kind of guy who wanted the perfect proposal memory. But you were also impatient because it could have been another two and a half years before he figured out the perfect way to propose, so you nudged him along. You had no idea the nudge took him to today.

It’d been a whole month since he last saw you and his heart skipped a beat when he did. You turned the corner, looking as beautiful as ever in something as simple as a soft grey sweater, blue jeans, and black thigh high boots; his breath hitched in his throat and he smiled. He took a deep breath and got to his feet, straightening his brown suede jacket as he descended from the stairs. His heart started to pound against his chest; his hand tightened around the bouquet and he patted the small bulge in his jacket pocket. This was it, he was going to do it. He chuckled as he watched you; you were too engrossed with your cupcake to realize the one person you wanted to see was standing not thirty feet away from you.

“It’s a little difficult to book a last minute flight for dogs,” he told you and your eyes narrowed at the echoey effect. “But it’s not so bad for humans.” He chuckled softly, holding up one hand to give you a small wave when you looked up. “Hey, I have to go.” You let out a breathy chuckle of disbelief, smiling so wide that your cheeks hurt. “I just saw the love of my life walk up,” he said into the phone then hung up.

“Chris!” You ran towards him, dropping your cake as you threw your arms around his neck. He laughed and picked you up and spun you in a circle. “Oh my God,” you felt your eyes welled in your eyes and you buried your face in the crook of his neck. “I’ve missed you so much.”

“I’ve missed you too, beautiful.” He let out a satisfied sigh, clutching onto you tightly. “God, it is so good to see you.” He squeezed you as tightly as you squeezed him, neither of you wanted to let go because the past month seemed like an eternity. “Phone calls and FaceTime sessions will never make up for this.”

“Never leave me again.” You told him and both of you chuckled softly because it was an impossible request; as happy as you were, you knew he couldn’t stay for long. “I can’t believe you’re here,” you told him as you started to pull away. “Thank you, baby.” You said when you took the bouquet he was holding out for you. “These are beautiful. You just made my birthday a thousand times better,” you pecked him on the lips, smiling.

“Only a thousand?” He asked with a smile and you chuckled because you didn’t realize he was using that as a segway to pop the big question. “I was actually hoping to make it a million times better.” He told you, slipping his hand into his jacket pocket as he descended down on one knee.

“Oh my God,” you breathed.

“There will never be a perfect time, or a perfect way to propose.” He began, flipping the little box open to reveal a breathtaking diamond ring; from the looks of it, Chris followed the three month’s salary rule which was insane considering who he was and what he did for a job. “But,” he paused for effect, his smile widening as he took your left hand in his. “There is a perfect person for everyone and you, my love, you’re mine.”

“Chris,” your voice quivered out of excitement and nerves.

“Shhh,” he chuckled, pressing one finger to his lips. “I wanted a Disney World proposal but I’m doing it on your doorstep instead, the least you can do is let me make my speech.” He joked and you chuckled, pressing your lips together to show you were going to shut it. “Okay, where was I? Yes, um-” he cleared his throat, catching his train of thought. “I know it’s ridiculous and you may think I’m just saying it for the sake of the romance, but- I knew when I met you that we were going somewhere. You were like this light that wouldn’t stop shining on my life, even the darkest days felt bright with you in it. The past two and a half years have been both an absolute dream and utter hell for me,” he said and your eyes narrowed in confusion; he chuckled softly and explained. “Because you’re amazing and I love every second with you, but it’s also been a long one million three hundred and fourteen thousand seconds to get to this moment. If I could’ve,” his voice quivered as tears welled in his eyes, “I would’ve proposed after our first date.”

“Just ask me already,” you urged, laughing to stop yourself from crying.

“Will you marry me?” He asked, smiling.

“Yes,” you nodded.

He smiled and slipped the ring onto your finger before getting up off the ground to wrap his arms around you and draw you in for the kiss of a lifetime. It felt as though all the stars aligned that night and no birthday was ever going to top this one. Chris broke the kiss and hugged you tightly, you smiled and held up your hand in front of the both of you to admire the ring.

“This is possibility one of the most impractical things you’ve ever bought,” you told him and he chuckled softly, pressing a soft kiss on the side of your head. “Like I love it, it’s beautiful. I mean- don’t get me wrong. I’m very, very impressed with the ring-”

“Then just kiss me and shut up,” he chuckled.

“But,” you continued and he groaned, feigning annoyance; you chuckled. “We could’ve used the money to buy that beautiful house we saw a few months ago, have somewhere we can call ours instead of yours or mine. I mean- yeah, I have my place and you have yours but- don’t you want somewhere we can call ours?” You didn’t know if you were making sense but from the look on Chris’ face, you knew he understood what you meant. “You get it, right?”

“Yeah,” he nodded. “But you get my job, right? I can afford to buy both, which is kind of what I did.” You narrowed your eyes in confusion as he pulled away from you. He reached into his pocket, pulling out a set of brand new keys. “Remember your dream house?” Your jaw dropped and you held out your hand excitedly, he chuckled and placed them in the palm of your hand. “Well, it just became a reality.”

Horoscopes by Gil Hizon - Week of March 12-18, 2017

There’s a difference between giving sound advice and just wanting to hear yourself talk.

PISCES (February 19 – March 20)

You’re like a house of cards this week. Bitches will be looking to avoid you because they feel like anything they do can trigger yo ass. And let’s get to the root of the matter, dahling. Because the real T here is that you can’t be a thick-skinned ho 24/7. Sometimes, it’s okay to have that moment of vulnerability. I mean, you’re still a human being, right?

ARIES (March 21 – April 19)

There is just way too much shit going on, even for a balls-to-the-wall, action-packed, gung-ho queen like yourself. And you can jump into the fray and see where that takes you, but bitch, your body can only take so much. I would apply that same determination you reserve for action into carving out a time for you to relax and recharge.

TAURUS (April 20 – May 20)

Gurl, if you’re gonna be fighting people’s criticismz with all your might, you may never learn anything. And look, queen, you don’t have to take everything these bitches say to heart. Every ho has an opinion and if I were you, I would look for trends in their advice. If there’s a recurring theme that’s coming off from what these divas are saying, I would look into that shit.

GEMINI (May 21 – June 21)

Oh, gurl. In an attempt to do too much damage control, you may be making things worse. Can’t you just let some things unfold instead of micromanaging every step of the fucking process? I think the main issue here is trust. When you try to control every single aspect of anything, it shows that you don’t trust others to do a good job. Well, bitch, you’re gonna have to, because you can’t do every damn thing.

CANCER (June 22 – July 22)

Allegedly, you’re riding some kind of raft that’s taking you willy nilly down the stream of your watery dreamland. Since when are you a fucking PISCES? But seriously, it’s totally fine to get lost in that flowy inspiration, but at some point, yo fine ass has got to get back to reality. And if you’re not gonna do it for yourself, do it for the bitches who are heavily relying on you.

LEO (July 23 – August 22)

Here’s what’s up. You’re too busy getting some important bitch to like you that you’re forgetting to cater to those who already adore you. This VIP ho may never be on your side and all your efforts may go to waste. Look gurl. This so-called significant queen is not the only game in town. The more time you spend looking out for hos who believe in you, the less you’ll need that holier-than-thou poser.

VIRGO (August 23 – September 22)

Do you ever get the sense like no matter how hard you work, there’s always gonna be something that’ll trip you up? That’s called life, dahling - remember, LIFE? Here’s the thing. The fact that you expect that nothing will ever be perfect is a step in the right direction. The real measure of your strength lies in how you act when things go kablooey.

LIBRA (September 23 – October 22)

PriOrities, dahling. This week, you’re gonna be bombarded with so much crap because of a good deed that you did the week previous. Think of it as innocently donating to an important cause online and all of a sudden, you’re part of a newsletter where the only messages making their way through your inbox say, “give me some more shit, bitch!” Look, your intentions are pure and it’s not going to make you a nasty ho if you start saying no to some of these things.

SCORPIO (October 23 – November 21)

Being too involved with the details of your present may be preventing you from seeing the possibilities of your future. Gurl, you ever heard of the phrase, “think ahead?” What you’re missing here is the notion that anticipating what’s to come may actually help inform you of the actions you need to do in the now. Stepping back can really help you see your timeline in a more comprehensive light. And bitch, lighting is ERRVYTHING.

SAGITTARIUS (November 22 – December 21)

Look, queen. I get that you like to live life in an organic sort of way. But this week may force you into reassessing why this passive mode of thinking appeals to you. Could it be that maybe the reason you’re okay with just watching where the chips may fall is so you don’t have to take responsibility if things go awry? Just something to ponder while you float way in your sea of make-believe.

CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 19)

Bitch, you aim high. That’s what I like about chu. I really think, tho, that you can amplify that ambition with a stronger focus on the mechanics of how you’re gonna get yo ass high up there in that food chain. Look, queen. This time, determination alone will not cut it. Being careful and strategic can only increase the odds of your success.

AQUARIUS (January 20 – February 18)

You are so amped up in the mental olympics that take place in your head on a daily basis that you’re forgetting how to live an authentic life. You can ponder ideas and concepts until the cows come home, but at some point, you really need to ask your heart what it truly needs. That’s just half the battle. Once you figure out how to appease your heart, you need to follow through that shit with some action. Commit, gurl!

things i like about malec on the show:

  • the instant attraction from both and shameless flirting from magnus that quickly turned into quiet concern when he realised alec wasn’t out
  • the mention of magnus and camille being an item before they’d ever even met, ensuring no weird jealous blowout down the line
  • again magnus making it clear he is interested in both men and women right at the start ensuring no weird biphobic shit down the line
  • magnus consistently recognising and never undermining alec’s role as a leader
  • alec’s shy interest but confusion about someone being interested in him above anyone else (I CRY)
  • the development and exploration of their separate lives and the struggles that both of them face beyond their attraction to one another
  • magnus not once touching alec without alec’s permission/alec being the one to initiate it
  • alec being upfront about his proposal to lydia and his reasons for it
  • the fact that magnus still helped out with izzy’s trial even though he was hurt because it was the right thing to do (my warlock son is so Pure)
  • even though magnus was acting a lil salty and hurt after the engagement news his goal was and always has been to help alec find happiness within himself thus trying to convince him marrying a woman was not the answer
  • magnus coming to the wedding but giving alec all the power to call the shots
  • letting alec know that he would leave if that’s what he wanted
  • the way he waited patiently for alec to descend that aisle and make the first move
  • giving alec a second to breathe after he breaks the kiss and STILL not initiating anything because the moment was entirely about alec and his agency
  • even during an episode all about them magnus’ whole existence doesnt revolve around The Boy (aka literally “my visit tonight wasn’t all about him”)
  • EVERYONES LOVE AND SUPPORT (we dont talk about maryse)
  • alec clarifying that dude of course theyre not in love yet which only draws more attention to the fact that it was never about choosing magnus but rather choosing himself and his happiness and his freedom and his mental health. ALEC LIGHTWOOD SAVED HIS OWN LIFE AND I AM TRULY ALIVE

things i don’t like: ???????? not enough touchi ng mouths???

well you know how it goes: you live your life and then David Tennant appears and turns everything upside down.

there will never be enough words to say how much i love this man and what he matters to me. he’s so much more than my favorite actor, he’s my hero, he’s who i wanna be like. so talented, so gorgeous, so scottish. perfection!

so today i wish him the happiest birthday ever!

Title: The Lady in Red (10/10)
Pairing: Steve Rogers x Fem Reader
Words: 977
Warnings: oh the feels!

Not many debriefings end with hugs, but this one did. Once Fury and Hill left, everyone in the room needed to wrap their arms around Y/N. She had become family to them too and their relief that she was staying was palpable. When everyone else had left, Steve and Y/N remained alone in the conference room. Steve was still processing everything that had just been said. Could he actually have her? This amazing, strong, independent woman, would she actually want to be his?

Y/N stood at the head of the table, waiting for Steve to move from his chair.

How To Stop Procrastinating And Get On With Your Book

Make a Schedule.

So today is September the 17th? Ok, well let’s say that an average first draft takes around 3 months, so set a schedule from now till around Christmas. The rest of September could be planning, then you could start writing in November, keeping to your plan, and writing a reasonable amount every day, and by December, have a whole story written and ready to be edited!

Nothing is perfect.

If your stuck on the planning stage for twenty seven years, you won’t be able to ever get a book done. Come up with an idea, good or bad, and flesh it out, edit it, re-edit it, and make it amazing. Nothing will ever be perfect and exactly how you want it, but don’t settle for something bad. Even if the initial idea is pretty rubbish, just keep working at it.

Remind yourself why you write.

Maybe you have a deep reason, maybe you just want followers on Wattpad, but hopefully, it’s because you love to write! If, like me, writing seems to fuel your very soul, then get on with it! There’s no point sitting about and twiddling your thumbs when there’s books to be written, and bestsellers to make.
