not the same scene but you get it

My favorite thing about Jaal is how he is incredibly open about his emotions and at the same time is naturally very chill. This is a dude whose whole llife till now – as well as the life of everyone around him, has been nothing but struggle and oppression. During the game you see him go through some really difficult moments. And yet, most of the time he’s very calm, upbeat, and as positive as one can be under the circumstances. He openly cries, admits fear, or gets angry, and in the next scene he’s back on his feet. There’s none of that edgelord angsty aura around him, even though there easily could have been one in the hands of a lesser writer, and I really appreciate that.

When will the tv show Supergirl come back from war and spare us all the pain of this bullshit Mono spin off?

How many fucking times do we have to watch the same boring ass scenes over and over again? Oh Mono is mad at his parents…again. Look Kara and Mono are saying goodbye for good….again. In a shocking turn of events, Kara is crying about Mono. In other news Maggie and Alex are having a heart to heart….oh wait we interrupt this emotionally powerful scene meant to give Maggie some backstory in order  to give you another scene of Kara crying about saving Mono. And finally we have the millionth scene of Mono experiencing “character growth” at the expense of Kara as character. That one never gets old.

Now we get a long ass hiatus only to return with an episode focusing on a side character that I could not care less about if I tried.

There is a reason the only thing universally praised by critics about this season is Alex/Sanvers.

Writing Problem #235

How it sounds it my head: Beautiful, emotional scene in which the characters are each struggling with their owns sets of conflicting feelings that they communicate through subtle motions and environmental cues. But they work through them and manage to get to the same emotional place by the end of the scene.

How it looks on paper: Do you like me? Y/N?

I'm trying to like the episode but I just can't get over the fact that Regina will always be only half a person. That's horrific. And the EQ will always be separated from her son and her family. I can't even enjoy the scenes where Regina accepts herself because of that. I feel like a character I loved so much basically no longer exists.

I don’t see it as horrific. And I don’t see why you see her as no longer existing. No instead we have TWO of the character we loved. Regina and the Queen are still the same person just as they were when they were split before. They’re just not exactly the same, again, just as they weren’t after the split.

The way I see it, they are both on a path of soul searching away from each other and discovering what makes each side who they are. Whether they come together in the end, I don’t know (I hope so), but I don’t see anything wrong with the Queen trying to find herself and find her place in the world.

Okay I'm calling it now, Ravus is probably gonna get his own DLC

I’ve been saying that since the start, but based on the new scenes we just got you can’t deny that it won’t happen. I’d be more upset if they didn’t give him DLC tbh.

A part of me hopes it’s like Separate Ways from Resident Evil 4 where you see all the same scenes but from his perspective. Ravus wasn’t ever fleshed out and he really deserves more screen time. But I guess only time will tell.

Hi, just wanted to say I love your blog, and wanted to humbly request a hc about being a writer friend of Tyler's and meeting/ crushing on Ethan on a shoot for a short film she wrote. Bonus points for supportive Teamiplier

I’m glad you do!! Please enjoy and so sorry it’s late 😊😊💕💕

____________

- Asking for Ty’s help with the short film

- Letting him bring the team to help as well

- Thinking Eth was cute from the start and you get flustered

- Ty noticing and telling you to go for it

- ‘I just met the guy, no Ty.’

- Everyone expect Eth noticing and telling you the same thing Ty told you

- You still say no, but you’ll definitely ask for his number before the end of the day

- Him actually asking for your number first, just before his little scene

- #SupportiveTeamiplier doing their job

- Ty smirking but you just smack him and continue with the shoot

What did you think of the episode?

For Sanvers, I think it was pretty good! It was nice to have more than 5 seconds with them.

At the same time, though, it all seemed kind of rushed? Like boom here’s Emily, here’s the confrontation, here’s the resolution. Don’t get me wrong I absolutely loved their interactions, and I fell even more in love with Alex Danvers, but still.

Also their last scene was like a minute long and then the ship-that-shall-not-be-named got like 3 minutes and it was like full on domestic interaction like where is my three minute domesticity between Alex and Maggie on a couch eating food and being stupidly in love together 😩😩😩

Now I reeaaally want a grooming scene btw Red and Liz. Can you imagine??

ahhhahaha it’s been playing in my head on a loop, anon. maybe one day they will manage to recapture a similar level of trust and closeness. i would like that a lot. for gsr it took about 7 angst-y years to get there and while i doubt tbl (still) has the same luxury of time (thanks to tim who’s so interesting that not one but 2 shows are now failing to capture his complexity), there’s still time for some good decisions.

(for those of you who are seeing this randomly on your dash, let me add that we are referencing a shaving scene feat. romantic bonding btw two adults)

ily: i love you

ilysm: i love you so much

ilysmichbilysmifligtaliomymmnbyammcrccahgmbcykmcfl: I like you so much, I can hardly breathe. I like you so much, I feel like I got thunder and lightning inside of me. You make me nervous but you also make me calm. Real calm. Calm almost how god must be calm, you know, Mylene? Calm from loving.

  • griffin mcelroy sometimes: beautifully choreographed scenes spun off the top of his head, heart-wrenching characterization, astounding visuals, emotional and intense narration

Why is SKAM so popular,

you may ask.

If you’re new or feel the same, read this:

1. This show is super clever. You have to pay attention to every little detail, cause everything is for a reason.

2. It is from Norway. You haven’t heard much about what Norway is like, have you?

Neither have I. But now I think I’m falling in love with it when I start knowing more and more about this beautiful country.

3. It is happening live. YES, by LIVE I mean you get messages characters exchange and little parts of the episode which airs on fridays. You get these clues live like it was happening right now. And through the whole week almost everyday you get new clues.

4. Beautiful styling. Norwegian teenagers dress like they are taught that in school but you’ll never see expensive clothing or a new dress every freaking scene. They wear the same clothes combining them and looking incredible.

5. This TV show is KIND. Although characters make mistakes as if they were REAL people, they learn, grow and change. Real bad shit happens to them but they find their way out. They TEACH US.

6. The last but not least: ACTING SKILLS. These little young people act like they have been actors for a century. I’m honestly amazed by each one of them. They act 100 times better than hollywood stars of their age.

And I hope that after this show’s success they get discovered.

That is why it cannot and must not be copied in ANY remakes.

Thank you.

Some clarifications because last night was a whirlwind and I’ve had more time to process the episode as a whole.  I reference this post specifically because there’s things that I want to clear up from yesterday that I was very in the moment about.  I think what gets us at times when trying to read deeper into anything from an anime is the fact that it’s a translation.  You never get the same feelings as you do when it’s in Japanese.  This is if you don’t know Japanese but if you do then I wish I got those same nuances in grammar that you do.

This scene is so important to episode 9.  Yuuri’s down in the dumps right now even if he was able to just squeeze into the Grand Prix Final.  But Yuuri is where he is because of his ability and he gave two amazing performances at the Cup of China that gave him the second place finish he would need to beat out Mickey.  Yuuri wants Viktor to step down as his coach after all of this.  To this moment he’s still doesn’t really think that he deserves Viktor.  But Yuri comes in out of nowhere and kicks him.  He breaks his train of thought.  This is the shock that Yuuri needed to find the confidence to ask Viktor “to stay as his coach until he retires”.  I don’t think that he intended to do that at all, but he came at just the right time and with his grandpa’s new katsudon pirozhki.

If we can all just please forget the fact that I actually thought Viktor flew back to Russia with a dog that almost died 24 hours ago after swallowing steamed buns then I’d love it.  Okay, but you know he would fly back to Russia if necessary.

I want to comment on Viktor’s face again.  Yes, this is a man who is very physically and emotionally tired.  The moment that he found out that Makkachin would be okay he started to worry about Yuuri.  You know he did.  This is character growth at its’ finest.  This is a man who hadn’t thought about anyone but himself, his skating career, and his dog.  There’s nothing wrong with that.  We see those bits of Yuuri bleed over into Viktor as their relationship deepens.  Viktor is worrying about someone who isn’t himself.  You could see the frustration in his expressions from episode 8 when he finds out that Makkachin’s at the vet.  He doesn’t want to leave Yuuri but in the end he does because Yuuri tells him that he’ll do the free skate by himself.  He’s probably been worried about how Yuuri coped without him on the sidelines because this is the first time in a major competition since he’s become his coach that he hasn’t been there.  He knows how it all went.  I’m sure he saw the stream.  He’s proud of Yuuri, but he understands Yuuri and the comfort that he craves.   He needs to see how Yuuri is doing for himself at the train station.  He’s deep in thought of the future until Makkachin barks to tell him that Yuuri’s here.

I was torn on this last night but I’m certain now that these two are on the same page.  We don’t know what the future holds for these two.  Yuuri might have just been outside next to a highway in Russia thinking about retiring after this season, but that doesn’t mean he’ll stop skating here.  He could keep going.  The show has actually given us indicators that Viktor’s the only one retiring at the end of all this between Yakov, Yuri, and JJ (mostly just saying that Viktor was running from him, but that’s close enough to retiring).  So, this request comes from a Yuuri that finally understands Viktor and is professing his love.  There’s no hesitations anymore.  The build-up to this moment was done phenomenally.  It’s a roundabout way of doing things but he does practically propose right here.

The tears that come out of him after this are of happiness.  “I wish you’d never retire” is exactly what Yuuri wants to hear.  Yuuri’s spent 8 episodes unsure if Viktor would stay with him when all of this is said and done.  But he gets that confirmation.  Yuuri needs to hear it from Viktor’s own mouth.  Viktor is also practically confirming the end of his skating career here because he doesn’t want Yuuri to retire.  He’s 27 years old and already stands at the top of the world.  He’s been thinking about what he wants to do in the future as Yuuri’s coach.  He’ll end his career on a really strong note.  Now, he wants to be Yuuri’s coach and his future.  They’ll go to grand prix final after grand prix final together for as long as Yuuri is willing to skate competitively.  And then after all of that, they’ll be together.  I’m really hoping that we get a sweet ending to all of this.

the true beauty and the beast ‘gay moment’

  • “who needs her when you’ve got us?”
  • “it’s never going to happen ladies”
  • “I’m not done with you yet” - “me neither”
  • LeFou looking dreamy and biting his bottom lip when Gaston says “picture it LeFou (…) adorable children running around while my love rubs my tired feet”
  • LeFou’s dreamy look turning into a frown the second Gaston adds ‘but what does Belle say?”
  • the whole Gaston song
  • “LeFou you’re the best. How is it no girl has snatched you up yet?” - “I’ve been told I’m clingy, but I really don’t get it” + the Look
  • the nose boop
  • the dance with Stanley at the end

basically pretty much all the lefou scenes were gay because he’s gay af it wasn’t even subtext it was obvious and subtle at the same time goodbye

The BBC fucked up. They fucked up so bad and they know it. Their plan is falling apart at the seams. Yes, this is a plan.

They have more footage. It comes out Sunday the 29th (or not at all). “It’s not a trick, it’s a plan.” – a poorly executed plan.  They wanted to recreate the social unrest from The Final Problem of 1893, except they’re failing at the one goal they wished to accomplish.

They wanted every audience member on board with the romance coming to Sherlock series 4. This is why they marketed the “I Love You” scene in the trailer and went to social media to proclaim “Sherlock is in love, but who with??”. It was a direct bait in their marketing scheme to get people to anticipate the romance. They needed to get everyone on the same page with who Sherlock loves – that is where this all fell apart, and I can tell you exactly how and where in the series this happened.

In The Lying Detective, Moffat and Gatiss made the unwise decision to include Mary Watson as a figment of John’s imagination. This is where everything went wrong. The audience sees her and forgets she’s not real – they think she’s speaking as herself or that John loves her so much he can’t bear to be away from her. This is not true in the slightest. John calls it “self-loathing” because he is torturing himself with her memory.  He conjures her in order to punish himself. This is explicitly stated. He does not miss her – he forgets her as soon as “the game is on” with Sherlock in the TD-12 room.  This is explicitly stated, as well. We saw John (as Mary) call Sherlock “My Monster” and “Posh Boy”, we saw John argue with himself about Sherlock over and over and over again because he can’t stop thinking about him. We saw John get outrageously jealous of Irene Adler, which has been happening for five years straight. We saw John practically beg to know about Sherlock’s sex life. We saw John break down about not being honest with himself about what he’s always wanted in a romantic partner, therefore causing devastation to everyone he holds dear. Many people in the audience saw this and thought “John loves Mary!” which is the exact opposite conclusion the audience needed to reach at that very moment. John loves someone, he’s always loved someone, and by not having the guts to be honest, he “lost his chance”.  He is talking about Sherlock. The things he wanted to say in episode 6 – that’s what has been eating at him for years. He never took the chance. He wasn’t honest with himself. And the audience missed this important piece of information because they couldn’t separate Mary as John from Mary as herself.

Moffat and Gatiss thought the audience would ban together at this point and see the characters’ love arcs as almost complete. “Sherlock is in love, but who with??” – this should be obvious after The Lying Detective, but it wasn’t. “Romantic entanglement would complete you as a human being.” This should have made the entire audience go, “Ooooo Sherlock is going to confess his love in The Final Problem”, but because the audience didn’t fully understand Ghost!Mary’s role in The Lying Detective, they couldn’t see anyone loving Sherlock back. This is not at all what the writers thought would happen.

The Final Problem was meant to be one gigantic queerbait. They explicitly made the villains queer. They had a John-sized coffin with “I love you” smashed to bits. They used Freddie Mercury’s “I Want to Break Free” as a villain’s anthem. They ended the song at the phrase “I’ve fallen in love” precisely at the word “love”. They made Mycroft “here to see the queen” Holmes a heterosexual romantic (TLD and TFP). They didn’t give John and Sherlock even five minutes alone in TFP. They made a mockery of “The Three Garridebs”, a Doyle story about Watson seeing “the depth of loyalty and love that lay behind the cold mask”. They told us “Who you really are doesn’t matter”.

The problem with this is because viewers didn’t fully understand what was told to them at the end of The Lying Detective, not a huge amount of people were upset with the lack of romantic closure. The queerbait was wasted on the general audience but felt horribly by queer people. Now many don’t believe queer people when they claim there to be deliberate homosexual intent/subtext written in the show. The audience still doesn’t see it. This is why Gatiss came out to confirm that they had indeed purposefully put in homosexual subtext repeatedly as a joke. He wants people to see the queerbait for what it is. He wants this to be discussed.

Now the BBC has a huge problem on their hands. The queer/ally audience is upset over representation and everyone is upset over quality of the episode itself. The main complaint the BBC thought it would get would be the queerbaiting allegations. However, those allegations aren’t large enough. The outrage isn’t loud enough. It would have been if they projected John Watson’s inner thoughts in a better way.

Now the BBC is sweating. The plan isn’t working. The audience is still divided.

How do you rile up a crowd? How do you get everyone who’s upset about The Final Problem and all of its flaws to focus on the one thing everyone should be thinking about?

You tell everyone who will listen that Sherlock was never, ever a queer show because there is absolutely zero proof of homosexuality ever hinted at on screen. You tell the biggest lie to anyone who will listen, regardless of what they asked about. You tell lies that have been previously contradicted by the writers themselves. You plant the idea for the audience, because they didn’t reach the conclusion themselves. You wait silently, fingers crossed, that an angry crowd will take to social media and promote your story. You hope to stay relevant because you fucked up so, so badly.

Somehow, in the attempt to make television history, BBC Sherlock managed to alienate its most dedicated queer fans.

There’s only one thing I can say about this:

Spencer Reid’s Physical Tics & Tells

When you look at me, you jump to a particular set of conclusions. It’s human nature to make assumptions based on appearances. Those assumptions tend to be very wrong, and often, quite hurtful. Happens to me a lot.

Ronald Gasser shot and killed former NFL player Joe McKnight yesterday. Joe was unarmed, shot several times and died on the scene. Police released him from custody last night. Not bail. He was RELEASED. With NO CHARGES against him. HOW DO YOU KILL SOMEONE AND GET TO GO AND SLEEP IN YOUR BED THAT SAME NIGHT?! How the fuck!!!!
