Who Is He? | Zach Dempsey x Reader

Genre: Romance, Fluff, Jealous!Zach
POV: Reader’s/First Person

A/N: Hey guys! I really missed writing about Jealous!Zach so I had to bring him back even for just a short one-shot. A couple of people also requested for a Jealous!Zach imagine and I thought now was the perfect time since it’s been a week since I’ve started this blog! Happy week-sary to me haha! Anyway, enjoy this cute little write-up starring Jealous!Zach and a special participation from Clay Jensen. LOL.

“I could get used to this.”

“So could I.”

I reply as Zach and I laid together on the leather sofa in his living room. He laid on the sofa with his legs spread out and his back leaning comfortably on the armrest. I was on top of him, my head resting on his firm chest with my arms wrapped around his waist. I placed my ear where his heart was, I could hear it beating every second or so and the sound of his beating heart calmed my head and pulled the corners of my lips upwards. His arms were wrapped around me, almost like a warm blanket and his chin rested on the crown of my head. We just sat there in silence, although it was very comfortable and calming.

It’s only been a couple of months since we had officially started dating but for some reason it’s almost like we’ve known each other for more than that. We’re very comfortable with each other, and we already know each other quite well if I do say so myself. But of course, like any other relationship, ours wasn’t exactly a walk in the park either.

It was times like this when I didn’t mind him always being busy with school, or basketball for that matter. He has to do well so that he can get a scholarship in his chosen university. He was busy, he was always either at the school courts practicing or in different states battling it out with other high schools, and I understood, seeing as he is the captain of the Liberty High basketball team, and he is their most valuable player. It’s his dream along with becoming a marine biologist, and who am I to get in the way of his dream. I’ll always be there for him, to support him, to help him, to encourage him whenever he feels down but I missed times like this, if I’m being honest, and these were the days where I could be selfish around him. What meant the most is that I still get to spend times like this with no one else, but him. He was mine, only mine, and I was his, only his.

“I really missed you.” I look up to face him.

“What? Babe you see me in school almost everyday.” he replies with a chuckle.

“Yes I do see you but I don’t get to actually spend much time with you since you’re always so busy.” I answer with a pout.

“I’m sorry Y/N. You know I have to do well to get a scholarship.” he says as he strokes my hair gently.

“Of course I understand Zach. We’ll just have to spend times like this wisely because we rarely get to be together like this. So what exactly do you want to do today? Do you have anything in mind?” I ask him. Just as Zach was about to reply, my phone which was resting on top of the coffee table, lit up. A person’s name came up on the screen and I got up immediately to answer it.

“I’m good, I missed you! How ‘bout you? How are you doing?”

“Uhm, nothing much I’m just with Zach right now.”

“Sure! Sure! He’ll understand. I’ll be there in 30 minutes.”

“Alright, yup, i’ll see you soon Helmet!”

I smile as I take the phone to my chest and run to Zach’s bathroom. As I freshened up, I can feel heavy footsteps coming closer to the bathroom door. A few seconds later, as I turn around, I see Zach’s tall figure leaning against the doorframe.

“Who was that?” he asks with his arms crossed infront of his chest.

“My helmet.” I reply without looking at him as I hurriedly tried to brush my teeth.

“What did he or she need?” he asks.

He wanted to see me.” I answer as I got out of the bathroom.

“Why did he want to see you?” he asks once again.

“Because we miss each other?” I reply with a smile and my eyebrows raised.

“Where are you meeting each other?” Zach continues to ask.

“The coffee shop down the road.” I say as I put my jacket on and take my purse with me.

“I’ll go now baby, I’ll be back soon I promise.” I continue as I quickly give him a kiss on his cheek.

I run out of Zach’s house and walk my way to the coffee shop. As soon as I saw the wooden sign of the cafe, I went in immediately with a huge smile on my face. And there he was! He sat at the seats near the glass window in front of the coffee shop with a navy blue hoodie on; a pair of headphones hanging on his neck.

Conjuring Expectations

[When I speak of conjuring here, I’m using it as an umbrella term to describe any act of pairing a spirit with a physical person. It doesn’t matter what your method is, if it is a prebound spirit, how often you do it, or the price you charge.]

So, offering these services has recently become a bit…. trendy.

Personally I find this disconcerting. We like to stress that taking home a spirit can be a lifelong responsibility, so being the shop should be even more of a responsibility. It isn’t something to take lightly, once you offer the service you’ve taken on a huge responsibility towards your customer. The points in this post are a few, not all, of the things you should keep in mind if you wish to start conjuring for others.

Other posts on the subject, please give these a read! x / x

[These are my own standards. Take them as you will. If you don’t care if a shop meets certain standards in this post then that’s your opinion, although I recommend having high standards for the shops you work with. If you don’t think something in here should apply to you, actually meditate and do some shadow work on why this is, laziness and impatience is not a good reason to ignore something.]

Don’t do it on a whim.

Seriously. Don’t conjure on a whim. This isn’t something to start up because you’re bored one night. There are a lot of things you have to consider when you do this, and it’s going to take more than a couple weeks to make sure you’re not making a hasty decision. Honestly, I’d put the minimum decision period at…. Six months. Does this seem long? Good. It gives you half a year to see if you’ll back out and any other thoughts which arise. If you’re too impatient to wait that long then sorry to say but you’re making a rash decision.

Know why you are offering your services.

Seriously…. Why do you want to do this? I’m not saying to think about it for a day. I’m saying to do serous shadow work to get an honest answer about why you are doing this. Is it the money? The ego boost? To look cool? A white knight mentality towards spirits? None of these are good reasons. Make sure the reason you’re doing this is something you can truthfully tell your customers.

Practice frequently

That six month decision period? You should already know how to perform your services by then and should spend that six months practicing consistently. Daily, if possible. Your consistency here will show you how you will fare when you must do it on a consistent basis for customers. It’ll also show you how you’ll handle things when you hit a fallow period or block in your life. If you can’t keep up with the consistency now then you won’t later either, and likely you’re not ready.

Don’t learn to conjure just to open a shop

This ties in with knowing why you’re offering the service. If your motivation for learning the skill (or whatever other method you use; remember that it is an umbrella term in this post) is purely to open a shop later on, reconsider things. If conjuring isn’t something you honestly love to do now, you’ll hate it even more later down the road and shouldn’t be doing it for others. Have reasons for yourself, not for others.

Know your laws

Don’t open shop without knowing the legalities. Know both the legalities of offering metaphysical services/products and of selling in general. These include both your state and federal laws (if in the US, otherwise you’ll have to figure out on your own which laws apply to you), as well as the laws which apply to your individual customers’ locations. You need to read through the laws yourself, not just google the answers, otherwise you won’t get the complete picture. Also keep in mind that it isn’t any other shop’s responsibility to tell you what the laws say. You need to figure it out on your own. And even if your services are free, there are still legal issues pertaining to you within the US. Read up because the law isn’t going to be on your side.

You need to be a legal adult

There’s a very good reason reputable shops don’t sell to people who aren’t legal adults. It’s called legality. But your services are free? Well consider that when witches, pagans, etc refuse to teach minors, this is also for very good legal reasons. If you aren’t old enough to buy from a reputable shop then you aren’t old enough to offer your service. Anyone can practice spirit work but you need to be an adult to offer services. That’s just the way it works. If you can’t bear to practice spirit work without opening a shop then you need to reconsider why you are opening a shop, because that sure sets off some red flags. Teenagers don’t have a good grasp on long term consequences.

Another part of this is maturity. Not only is the estimate for the point of full brain maturity past your teenage years, but a teenager simply doesn’t have the life experience an adult has. If you’re still in high school, regardless of whether or not you’ve already turned 18, you do not have the life experiences that give you heaping loads of personal qualities and maturity. When high school ends life starts throwing at you a ballsack of responsibilities and worries: financials, living situations, college, jobs, your future in general. Do some teenagers have to deal with these things? Sure, but there’s no way of knowing if you legitimately have the maturity from handling these things or if you just think you do. High school environment does not give you the same maturity an adult environment will.

Look, go anywhere in public and you can immediately differentiate the group of high schoolers from young college kids. There’s a certain bit of immaturity in high schoolers and teenagers that doesn’t leave until you’ve graduated. If you want to argue that you’re not like those other teenagers then that’s a bit of a red flag towards the opposite. There’s a trend with teenagers to think you know the world when you really don’t. You’ll have a different perspective on your high school years later on.

Anyone can do spirit work. But a shop’s services, and by extension running a shop, is not an entitlement and can indeed be limited by factors like legal age.

Know the community

I’m not talking about tumblr. I’m talking about the wider community. Whether or not you agree with other sides, you need to be familiar with them to be well-rounded. Furthermore, your customers will not all be coming from the exact perspective as yourself, so you need to understand your customers who have learned from different places.

Conjure for more than your friends

Your customers will not be limited to your friend group. Conjuring for your friends is easy because you’re familiar, and likely compatible, with their energy. You know their personalities for when finding them spirits. This applies to doing bindings, too. You absolutely need to have a large portion of your pre-shop practice to be for people (preferably strangers who will give honest opinions from a point of experience) other than your close friends, otherwise you’re not really proving that you can do it for others.

Know a wide range of energies

People tend to hang around similar energies. Even if you stay purely on tumblr, you will come across many of the same viewpoints and energies. Explore outside of that circle. Meet a variety of people with a variety of ideas and energies. You must be able to work with the entire spectrum of people to be able to offer this service. And this isn’t something you can do in a day, it takes years to become familiar enough with so many energies to be prepared for this. And that’s… that’s sort of the point. You need all that experience. Also remember that you’re going to need to see the inner core of energy, not just what someone gives off on the outside. It’s happened to myself plenty of times where a conjurer doesn’t look on more than the outer shell of energy, and thus their work is mediocre and the relationship doesn’t last.

Know a wide range of spirits

This is INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT. You only want to offer white arts dragons? Fantastic, but you need to be familiar with more than that. Cute fluffy spirits aren’t the ones who will wreck you. You absolutely need to be familiar with the darkest, most dangerous spirits if you want to keep your customers protected from them. And… no, I’m not talking about hellhounds and demons. If that’s the most dangerous spirits you know, then you may need more experience. Tricksters and shapeshifters are another issue. When they are malicious, you’ll need to be a master to recognize them.

It will be an issue even if you insist they won’t approach you. There are people in this community who have the worst kind of spirits looking for any opening to harm them, and shops are a huge opportunity. These people might not tell you about it or might not even know, but you need to be able to recognize these spirits regardless, then be skilled enough to deal with them.

Dangerous spirits will not always look like monsters. Tricksters can reach the point of mimicking a spirit’s exact personality, energy, soul energy, even some memories. Spirits who are legitimately from safe species may be unsafe. For example, I had a spirit from one of the safest species I know approach my own shop. Nothing turned up through every one of my safety measures with checking them, but one of my other measures is to seek out others who have known spirits and interview them. Learned from a relative that this spirit had murdered their entire immediate family (not extended, which is why there were others who could tell me about it) then undergone surgery to entirely remove the memories from their energy so no one could know. And I was informed that their patterns suggested they’d turn similarly violent again and would enjoy every second of it. Yikes. Those situations happen more frequently than you’d expect and you’d better be able to recognize them.

Have large experience in spirit work not involving shops

You are not reselling another shop’s vessel, you are working with your own spirits. Have several years of experience in working with non-shop spirits. Ideally this would be consistent and purposeful. I’m not talking about speaking to one ghost who lived inside your house, I’m talking about purposely meeting new spirits and learning about them. Have experience in discerning their safety on the run. If never in those years do you encounter a malicious spirit, then…. Uh. That does not give much confidence in your discernment.

Have a master safety process

I’m not saying expert. I’m saying master. The worst of the worst spirits do come to shops looking for trouble and you need to see through their hardest disguises. Just talking to them and learning about them is not enough because they will readily put on sweet faces. Like I said, there are people in this very community who have these spirits after them. It’s your responsibility to not be a wide opening.

Offering a spirit shouldn’t be as simple as meeting a spirit on the street who likes humans then offering them.

Practice discernment. Lots of it. More discernment that you’ve ever practiced before.

People are trusting that you have absolute perfect discernment. You need to have foolproof discernment that comes from a large variety of methods. And this is something that you cannot learn immediately, it comes through years of practice. I’m saying that you need years of practice and they need to involve heavy discernment. I’m gonna be blunt, your spirits had better not be purely in your head and you should have people outside your immediate friend group (as they are very biased in your favor) verify them. If you’re gonna hit a “gosh is this all really real maybe I had better check” period, it had better not be while people are already trusting you to know your discernment.

Be emotionally stable and handle your mental illness

I am not saying you cannot practice spirit work with mental illness. Many of us do it and more shop owners than you know have serious diagnoses. But you need to have a firm handle on it. You absolutely have to know when you can and cannot practice and how to involve discernment. Say you suffer from hallucinations? Plenty of spirit workers have the same and they are fully capable despite it. They learn how to discern a spirit from a hallucination and their work is lovely. But you need expert discernment in telling your mental illness apart from spirit work and not letting it influence your senses, otherwise you are not practicing adequate discernment. Imagine your mental illness like a hurdle. It’s unfortunate that some people have more hurdles than others, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have to overcome it like every other hurdle.

Emotional stability comes into play because emotions have a heavy impact of discernment. From confirmation bias to letting your emotions show you what you want to see, you can’t be slacking by letting emotions get in the way of discernment, proper safety checks, and your senses in general. You also cannot be making emotionally fueled decisions. Emotionally fueled decisions almost always throw discernment completely down the drain. More than that, they hurt people very often. There have been patterns in this community for years of people getting hurt because emotionally fueled decisions are made and real discernment is left to the side. “You’re abusing your spirits!” is the most common, said to both shops and regular spirit workers. Remember, confirmation bias is a definite thing (if you want the answer to be one thing, even subconsciously, that’s what you’re going to see because you’re biased in favor of that interpretation of the evidence) and your senses can and will be altered based on a heavy wanting for a particular outcome.

Related to this is that if you are constantly involved in drama or making drama-fueled decisions, you are probably not a good person to be running a shop.

Be prepared for this to affect you later in life

I don’t know what you want to do with your life, but chances are that you’re going to need to impress people. Employers, schools, anyone you want to sign a deal with. Sorry guys, but internet privacy doesn’t exist. Your privacy only exists until it is legal to sell your history and information to potential employers and etc groups and individuals. Imagine that everyone will be able to see you doing this. How is it going to affect you later? Don’t try and say that you won’t let it happen, just imagine that it will happen because it’s very easy to slip. Be fully prepared for the responsibility of others finding out about it.

Remember… some people may just think you’re weird, but others will see it as a malicious scam, preying on the mentally ill, or even a sign of serious mental instability. Don’t take it lightly, realize the full effect of others finding out and it affecting your life. If it causes anxiety now, imagine how it will feel if it happens. You must accept this possibility before continuing.

Have an understanding of the responsibility

This is one of the biggest responsibilities you could take. You are putting yourself in charge of someone’s safety, spiritual progress, and more. Just…. Do not take this lightly. Seriously.

Talks Machina Highlights (Episodes 92 & 93)
  • Denise message: “With every breath the world takes my power increases.”
  • Asked which of her episodes was the most intense, Noelle: “Well, the first one, I was on the edge of my seat a lot wondering when they were gonna stop shopping…”
  • Everyone admits that episode 93 should’ve been the most intense episode yet, but they were all so ignorant of the potential consequences that it didn’t really sink in until afterwards.
  • Noelle talks about a really fun D&D campaign she had where everybody played teenagers in high school (she was a tiefling warlock). She wanted something different than the high-charisma, low-strength build she’d had there, so when Matt suggested the blood hunter class, she was 100% on board. “I like my D&D characters extra.”
  • Sam agrees with a question-asker that Taryon is mostly just emulating what he thinks brave people ought to do; it remains to be seen whether or not he’s actually brave.
  • Liam as a player was freaking out over how close the campaign came to ending, but in-character, Vax is pretty convinced they’re all destined to get to the end of the road at this point and that there’s a bigger plan in play.
  • Travis and Sam both expected the Nine Hells to be worse than they were. Sam: “I think you build up hell in your mind…”
  • Tova would totally have turned Grog into a werebear if he’d asked.
  • A question-asker points out that Trinket wound up lasting years longer than Doty. Sam: “…yes, there’s something inherently wrong with that. […] You know what? Matt’s game is broken.” Brian: “Doty vs. Trinket: The end of Critical Role.” (Laura immediately tweets in outrage.)
  • Someone asks if Vax was disappointed that he didn’t get the killing blow on Hotis, and Liam points out that the only kill that had any emotional meaning for Vax personally was Thordak–other than that, it’s all about the team.
  • At one point, Tova was down to 15 HP. Travis: “We’re not very good at tracking how low everybody gets.” Noelle: “…no. No, you’re not.”
  • Sam, summing up an extended D&D legal discussion: “I’m not sure that contract would’ve been legal in the state of California.”
  • Losing Doty hasn’t sunk in yet for Taryon. “Doty is a big brother, a mom, a little brother…”
  • New episode of All Work No Play (Sam and Liam’s podcast) is going up tomorrow! Sam: “It’s really not our best episode.” Liam: “That’s ludicrous, it’s the best.”
  • Tova’s friends all had names and a bit of connection pre-built with Tova’s backstory.
  • Vax thinks Tary has potential but lacks confidence. Grog, in the middle of the fight, kept seeing him huddled in a ball casting Sanctuary and thinking “…fucking Tary.”
  • Travis: “Especially now that you don’t have a nanny anymore, Grog’s gonna have to step in and take that role.” Sam: “Honestly, I’m not even sure Taryon can put on his own armor.”
  • Noelle felt like it was a necessary character choice for Tova to stay behind, and also thinks that she’s so driven that a lot of hell’s torture wouldn’t really sink in as long as she still had a sense of duty and purpose. The biggest thing that would be an impediment to her survival would be finding out that her friends had been killed. Wanting to return Vax’s ring would also be a driving force that could keep her going.
  • Vax worked for the Clasp for a while and got into the attitude of doing jobs without fully understanding why, so he’s not too worried about tracking down the anonymous person who requested the rakshasa parts at the Slayer’s Take–as far as he’s concerned, it’s over.
  • Everyone talks about how right up-his-alley the contract is for Percy. Brian: “If Taliesin summoned an army of the damned in real life, that would be the least surprising thing Taliesin has ever done.”
  • Liam: “The lawyer on the other side might argue that [Doty] is less of a party member and more of a Zune.” Sam: “Shut your mouth! He is not a Zune. He’s a Palm Pilot or better.”
  • Noelle: “I think things went pretty well. I killed a pit fiend, I turned into an invisible bear, I airplaned Vax around.” Brian: “You pushed Keyleth out a window.” Noelle: “I did do that.”
  • Sam on Doty: “I’m unreasonably attached to that robot, he’s pretty great. He’s a cutie.”
  • Travis suggests that Grog could take over writing Tary’s exploits, since he knows two letters now.
  • Liam has no expectations for what’s going to happen in the next episode. No idea what’s gonna happen. Sam points out that there aren’t a lot of loose ends anymore.
  • Travis: “I kept asking how my stomach was feeling, to Matt, as one does in a D&D game. If I shit an imp, we’ll know.”

Talks Machine in the Dark:

  • Travis mentions the K’varn fight as the first time he really felt like things were getting terribly out-of-hand. Liam and Sam both mention getting stuck inside the dragon.
  • Noelle, as a writer, likes the narrative ambiguity of Schrodinger’s Tova and thought that, either way, it was a cool way to go out.
  • My new favorite question: “Does Grog know Minxie is Keyleth?” Travis has to answer that, unfortunately, Grog is fully aware that they’re the same because he was the one who named her back in the home game.
  • Liam thinks the only option if Keyleth had failed that roll would be for Percy to invoke the contract. Travis also brings up the Deck.
  • Noelle tells amazing stories about the graphic novel bible she had growing up. “I’m pretty sure Jezebel isn’t supposed to be your favorite character in the bible, but she had amazing eyeshadow…”
  • Liam tells Travis that next campaign, they’re gonna have to be the note-takers to pay Marisha back for this one. Travis: “I’m gonna have to learn how to write.”
  • Vax will finally stop wearing the armor all the time now that Hotis is out of the picture. “Don’t need to worry about Mercer shanking me in my most intimate moments.”
Love Always Wakes the Dragon

(and suddenly flames everywhere)

It could be worse. You do have all the luxuries befitting a princess, though one charged with treason. But a gilded cage is still a cage. And the prospect of withering away in this, the tallest tower of the Palace of Asgard, in the same place where your once-betrothed will live and marry and rule from, it’s almost too much to bear.

Better Books. [Beast! Prince Adam Oneshot].

I’M SUCH TRASH. I’m pairing this with another one of my imagines: Where Adam Tells you his name.

After scanning the shelves for what seemed like hours, you had finally found the book you were looking for. Laughing softly in victory, you figured that Adam must have hidden it from you to assure that you didn’t read it again. You could hear his voice inside of your mind, ‘There are better things to read than that.’

You held the book in your hands close to your chest. Rubbing the spine gently, you felt somewhat conscious of the blue eyes lingering on you longingly from across the spacious room. Whether out of nerves or slight curiosity, you let one of your feet dangle from the ladder in the library, swinging around slightly so you could look back at Adam with a tender gaze. He was perched in a chair, sitting in what little sunlight was leaking into the castle from the overcast sky outside. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the sort of warm sunlight that soaked into your skin and made you feel a little more happy and optimistic. It was a dreary sort of sunlight that would bounce off you and create somewhat negative vibes. Fortunately though, you strode around with your own positivity the darkness that seemed to mindlessly drape around the entire residency.

By the time you looked back at him, he tried his best to seem completely invested in the book instead of the back of your head, but you knew better. It was something new between the two of you and has become more and more frequent. The stolen glances, as if it were forbidden to actually look at one another and allow yourself to be caught doing so. You had only stumbled upon the castle a month ago, and between then and now, he has actually warmed up to you surprisingly well. After all, it had only been a week or so since he felt comfortable telling you his name so you didn’t have to stumble around what to call him exactly.

Stepping off the ladder with a small ‘thud’ as you jumped onto the marble floor, you studied the book in your hand and made your way to the seat across from him. Adam noticed of course, watching you from his peripherals as you sauntered your way towards him and sat down.

Adam cleared his throat, setting his book down in his lap. “What’ve you got there?” He inquired, using his head to gesture to the gently worn out book in your hands. If he moved just right in his spot, the dim sunlight coming in through the large windows shined off his horns, somewhat reminding you of how water shimmered in the light.

You seemed a bit shameful when you answered quietly, “Romeo And Juliet.”

“Uhck.” He murmured softly, scrunching his face in mind disgust, “Have you not read that enough? It’s such a tragic story. The romance, the pining, the unforgiving end. That book will be in three pieces by the time you’re done with it. There’s so many books here, why choose the same one over and over?” Adam’s curiosity was legitimate. He never saw the wonder in romance like you seemed to. To him, they all seemed the same and never seemed to have the absolutely ideal ending.

You laughed quietly, “It may be. At least it’s a book that you don’t seem to care about. I’m sure I could set it on fire and you’d probably be very happy that I did.” Shrugging your shoulders, you rubbed the spine once again and answered simply, “It’s a bittersweet tale. I like that it’s not perfect. That’s what makes it enjoyable. Anyway, why does it matter what I read? It’s not like you’re the one reading it.”

He nodded his head in agreement. Thankfully, he wasn’t the one reading it, but he still argued, a bit more innocent and playful this time, “Perhaps, I can show you another story that’s just as good.”

“I dare you to show me one that I’ll love more than this one.” You held the book up and sat it down on the table to your right. “You’ve read everything in here, so I’m sure you can find one.”

Adam stood up, completely towering over you before holding a paw out for you to take. You smiled at him, accepting the help and let him lift you from your seat. “I accept your challenge. I’ve got just the book.” The smile he gave you was the gentlest thing you had encountered and left your heart swimming in an unknown feeling. You wanted nothing more than to see that smile for the rest of your days. Adam hesitated, but eventually let go of your warm hand before striding to the left. You followed closely, biting down on your bottom lip.

What was the feeling in your chest? It was as if someone had lit a thousand candles and let them burn inside of you. You denied any previous thoughts of adoration for Adam, telling yourself that you couldn’t possibly feel anything more than forced friendship for someone who was keeping you here. But at this point, the sensation in your heart was making you question your own words. There was no doubt some sort of attraction between the two of you. The hidden gazes, the gentle strokes of your hand against his arm while you pass him books.

If he let you go, who’s to say you wouldn’t want to willingly stay here with him? You would stay. Even if he didn’t ask, you would stay. But, why?

“Here.” His voice boomed you back to reality. Swallowing softly, you looked up at him with reddened cheeks before letting your gaze drop to the book in his hand. Taking a shaky breath in, you took it from his hands and studied it carefully. It seemed a bit more worn than ‘Romeo and Juliet’, the spine exceedingly bent at the moment, stirring you to ask, “Have you read this a lot?”

“More than most books here. It’s one of the books my mother used to read to me when I was a child.” Adam admitted softly, letting his icy eyes admire your reaction to the book. “It’s the only romance I can actually bear to finish.” He said without thinking. “You see uh— I never finish them, usually. Romances, at least. I leave them off in the ideal place, almost….”

“Afraid of ruining it with the actual ending.” You finished his sentence for him. Adam seemed astonished that you had actually understood. Pressing it to your chest, you sighed and whispered to him, “You’re taking an opportunity away from yourself though. If you never read the ending, you’re not reading it in the way it was intended to be read. Some…” You clutched the book a bit harder, something he noticed as your knuckles were turning while, “Some stories have a happy ending that are so out of sight that you need to keep reading on. You can’t let one bad ending be the reason why you can’t enjoy other endings.”

There was no fighting your words because as Adam let them sink into his mind, he came to realize that you were completely right. He opened his mouth, ready to discourse but couldn’t find anything to say. He couldn’t. He was in such a position that you words were undoubtedly true. Before the curse, his ending was a bad one, though he prolonged it for as long as possible. It took a sharp turn and seemed even worse for a while before you came waltzing into his life, giving the slightest shimmer that perhaps even he could have a happy ending in a story otherwise full of despair, darkness and hate.

“Let me know what you think.” Adam said quietly, looking at the book in your hands. “I hope… you like it.”

Reaching up, you pressed your hand to the right side of his face and completely captivated his attention. The affection was sudden and seemed to leave Adam completely defenseless as you smiled sweetly at him. It was a tender stroke and reminded him of the last time that he had actually been touched so affectionately. It had been years. If it weren’t for the dramatic height difference, he could look at you eye to eye and if given permission, he would have kissed you. Just to see a response, to see that if getting his hopes up wasn’t just a waste now that there were only a few more petals left on the enchanted rose.

Adam was certain he could kiss you regardless, catching you off guard. The nagging voice inside of his head worried that you didn’t want it though, and so he refrained as best he could and tilted his head towards your hand.

You let your hand linger on him for much longer than needed, eventually bringing it from the side of his face to his wide shoulder before walking back to your spot in the small amount of sunlight. It was his time to follow you back. Sitting down, you stared up at him and gave a warm smile, “I’m sure I’ll love it.”

How to become a good student (again) 3: Yearn for friendship - not worship; not debasement

Hello, fellow ex-good student!

‘tis done! This beast just got longer and longer, so I decided to cut it down a bit for the sake of readability. But let me know if there’s something that was too vague - the nuance might have got lost in the editing process.

Alright, let’s get down to business (to defeat! The Huns!)! So, if you’re an ex-good student, I’m pretty sure that you know this static in your head, right? Whenever you really need to do something but you just can’t get up and do it, so you keep procrastinating even though you hate it and keep scrolling and scrolling or gaming and gaming and feel more and more guilty?

Well, it might not be the most immediate analogy, but for this post I want you to consider that what connects you and your subject of study is essentially a relationship and that this static is (among other things) an indicator of how screwed up your relationship is. Just like with real people, your relationships with subjects can either

  • prosper and bear fruit (me & Creative Writing)
  • become cold and distant (me & French)
  • or, worst of all, turn sour and actively harmful. (me & PE, back in school)

Now, nobody likes to hear that they’re relationship-ing wrong. And it is true that different approaches work for different people. But here are the counter-productive relationships that I’ve personally ended up in and I’m gonna show you how I got into and out of them, so you can try to do the same. Maybe it’ll help you lift that static from your head.

Side-Note: Always remember that, since your subjects are just that (subjects), and not real people, you are the only one who can actually mend these relationships and, conversely, you are the one who screwed them up in the first place (probably with good intentions, though).

So, we’ll take them in this order:

1) Overeager Debasement

2) Undereager Debasement

3) Worship

(Oh, and in case you wanna catch up:

Part 1

Part 2)

1) Overeager Debasement

What is it?

The desire to do everything, perfectly, at the same time, right now. Not to limit yourself to just one field of study, but to master them all, to reign supreme above knowledge, to keep your mind wide open to new possibilities, similarities and contradictions.
You overvalue your own capacities and undervalue the needs and difficulties of your subject.
(also refer to the first post for this)

How did you get here?

(read picture from right to left)

So. Many. Possible. Reasons.

  • it’s a cage. The idea of doing just one thing for the rest of your life scares you and you feel imprisoned at the thought of it
  • you know that you could be outstanding if you applied yourself
  • you know that you could be even more outstanding if you became accomplished in multiple fields
  • you want to find connections between fields nobody’s ever considered before
  • you feel like you’ve wasted your last few years and need to catch up to others
  • you’re afraid that you’re not good enough
  • you’re afraid of being ignorant
  • you’re arrogant

No matter the reason (I’ve gone through them all), people caught in this state of mind shovel more and more onto their plate.
And then wonder why they can’t swallow it all.

What do you think you’re doing?

A labour of love, most likely. You think you love languages and sciences and athletics and programming and cooking and hanging out with friends and being alone and so you just want to do it all!
You don’t want to limit yourself! You don’t want to lose any time! But there’s just so much and you have so little energy and ugh, if only I wasn’t destined for greatness, then I could relax like other little people, but no, I need to keep pushing! In every! Direction! At the same! Time!

I know your delusion. I’ve been there. You imagine yourself to be that one perfect friend who gets up at 6am, watches the sun rise, does yoga, eats a healthy breakfast, goes for a quick run, comes back home, answers all correspondence, is artistic for a few hours, then scientific for a few hours, then social for a few hours and ends the day with tiny masterpieces in each area, goes out with friends or family to grab a healthy dinner and goes to sleep, happy and balanced :)

Well, you know what, my starry-eyed friend?

What are you actually doing?

You’re the mental equivalent of a social butterfly.
You’re being fucking disrespectful.

You’re always on the run and never able to really commit to anything, because you’ve already scheduled something else afterwards. You’re shallow, deluded, that one friend that always comes in running, screaming “Besties  ~ ♥” and everyone shifts uncomfortably in their seats and smiles a painful smile and humours you, because they know you mean well, but they also know that you know nothing about them.
You’ve never been there for them ever, but always expect them to be there for you. Whenever they want to talk about themselves, you nod and then proceed to about yourself and your plans and “ohmygosh, this is so nice, we need to meet more often ~ ♥ “. But at least you mean well, so they’ve agreed to keep it simple and on the “The weather is nice today”-level with you.

But here you are, wondering why you’re not making any progress.

So what do I do?

Well, you need to go from this:

To this:

How? More on that below.

2) Undereager Debasement

What is it?

This stage is what happens when you notice that your lofty ideals from Overeager Debasement cannot be fulfilled. You turn bitter, hateful, cold. You think you’re a failure, you think you were too soft. Instead of wanting to be friends with everyone, you now want to rule over everyone, fuck what they want.

You’re burnt out. You’re done. You just want to get through these stupid classes and catch a goddamn break, goddamnit.

And you WILL get through. You’re too proud to do anything else. But you don’t really care about any of it.
You just want to make it.

How did you get here?

If you were a good student, you probably heard at some point or another that you were “different” and that your complex and mysterious ways were not understandable and definitely not achievable for your average classmate.

Most people who tell you this mean well. A few want to make fun of you, but most actually do mean it as a compliment. But they don’t know how dangerous it is to hear it again and again, because regardless of whether it’s true or not, you start to believe it.
You start to believe that somehow, you have a higher calling, a higher standard. And you start to long for that day when your high standards will be met - when you will go to that one mysterious class where everyone is just as eager as you are, where the “Oh, captain, my captain!”-teacher will spark a fire in your brain that will never go out and when your ominous “gifts” can finally be put to good use for the prosperous future of mankind.

And you work.

And work.

And the class never comes.

You feel the weight on your shoulders when teachers talk of “high expectations”, you feel it crush you a little bit every time your friends tease you about your genuine fear that you might not get an A, that you might lose it all, that your “gifts” could disappear and you’ll be stranded and useless and you put in the hours, you work your ass off to keep that high standard, all in the hope of having that one miraculous class that never comes.

I realized that that class would never come when I entered university.

University, I’d told myself, would be my Arcadia, my Eden, my academic paradise where all my hard work would be rewarded!
Instead, I only found more drudgery, more incompetent professors, more disinterested students and even more bureacracy. To say that I was “disappointed” would be putting it very lightly.

I became disoriented and disenchanted. I realized that I could get through most classes with half-assed effort, I was hardly ever challenged, I floated along and hated every second of it. I blamed my boring teachers, the imperfect system, the teachers who had given me hope only for me to watch it crash and go up in flames.

What do you think you’re doing?

Being badass, cool and detached, most likely.

You dream of yourself as a master and your subjects as slaves. They bow to your will, they dance to your tune, you command them with the snap of a finger.

“Look, you slave of the system”, you say, lying on a velvet sofa, “Look, at how it hardly takes any effort for me to pass these classes! Look at how I spend my time doing things I actually like and that are actually worth it, unlike these stupidly easy classes taught by stupidly incompetent professors in a stupidly screwed-up system! Look at me, being edgy and drowning in self-hatred because I can physically feel myself gliding off the rails that made me so “special” and becoming one of the average people in the masses, haha. Ha. Ha. Screw academia, but still give me good grades, amirite?”

I know your delusion. I’ve been there. You imagine yourself to be that one perfect friend that never studies for classes, comes for three lectures per semester and still manages to get perfect grades because everything you do in school is, like, so five years ago. That one friend who has read all the classics in their spare time, has conquered and enslaved all the knowledge actually worth knowing, will quote obscure Polish philosophers you’ve never heard of and plays the piano with a perfect pitch. They’re the wisest, most culture-non-conforming people you know - they’ve been up until 5am, wandering the streets and drinking vodka from a bottle while forcefully pentrating the mysteries of the universe all by themselves until they finally fall asleep on a park bench and awake with an epiphany about Klein bottles.
They’re “special”.

What are you actually doing?

Caring more about appearing “special” than actually trying to be “special”, that’s what you’re doing.

But, look, what made you so “special” and “different” in the first place was not a “calling” or “gifts” or the fact that you wrote good grades and were destined for greatness.

Here’s a handy chart I’ll use later - you were lucky enough to fall into the green zone, lucky enough to be born with an innate respect and a love for learning. That’s what made you “special”. That’s what made you succeed. Not pressure, not warped ideals and certainly not the fear of failure.

But somewhere along the way you forgot that and only focussed on the results. You started to believe yourself to be so special that everybody else should cater to you.
The fancy titles, the awe-struck looks, the “You’re so amazing”s and the “The genius of a decade”, the planned Nobel prize speech and the prestige, the dream others had lovingly created for you and you had slowly absorbed and warped as your own? It got to you. Hell, it got to me.
And it became more important than learning itself.
Somewhere along the way, you and I, we became an arrogant and lazy assholes.

You looked down on your easy courses and homework and instead of recognising how lucky you are, doing it in a minute and a half and then putting in the extra work on top to dig deeper and to maybe contribute something of value and fun, you threw it aside with a snide remark as beneath you.
Of course it wasn’t fun. Of course it wasn’t challenging. You never even tried to make it either.

(And don’t get me wrong: I honestly do think that the education system as it is right now needs MAJOR reforms. But right now? It is what it is. And instead of making the best of it and doing what you once loved so much, you succumbed to societal pressures you found yourself unable to fulfill and said “meh”.
You cared so much about the fame and the title that the relationship itself didn’t matter.)

But this isn’t the master-slave relationship you imagine it to be.
It’s a trophy-friendship. Once upon a time, you got on really well with this person and other people loved your friendship. You fell in love with the ideal, with their connections, their money, their prestige, their name on a CV, and you stuck around just for that.
You valiantly ignore the reality of the state of things between you two
and take them out only when absolutely needed, only when things are this close to falling apart and so you keep walking a fine, fine line.
Whenever a deadline approaches, you shower them with attention and love and, gingerly, they open up to you and you see a depth and complexity to them that astounds you and makes you think “Imagine! Imagine how much more I could have seen if only I’d started earlier?”
But the moment the crisis has passed, you toss them aside once again.

Because this is enough to make your name.
You may not remember much about these nights or about the person at all, but the only thing that counts is that it will fulfill your “special” prophecy and make you a legend, right?

Well, always remember this:
(read picture from right to left)

You’re not “special” if you made it to university. You’re not “special” if you’ve made your name.
It comes down to a simple choice: do you value appearances over integrity or the other way round? Do you dare to look like a fumbling idiot again when you start something new? Is the “appearing like an idiot”-part more important to you than the “learning/creating something new”-part?
Have a think about it.

3) Worship

“Alright”, you’ll say, “Alright. I get it. So I’ll treat my “friends”/subjects with respect and integrity and I’ll take all the time and concentration I can bestow upon them, just as I would upon real friends. But do you want me to be like, uh - like…

What is it?

“…like one of those anime characters that lives only for their dream and gets up at like 6am, does the thing, talks about the thing, breathes the thing, goes to bed, dreams of the thing and then wakes up at 6am to do the thing?”

(Google: Did you mean Hinata Shouyou?

Yes, yes, I did, google.)

Well, no, I don’t want you to do that. See, that’s the other extreme and unless you’re an anime character, chances are that it won’t work out for you.

How did you get here?

Personally, I was caught in this trap for a loooooong time. Anime offered me a new way of relating to my passions that neither my family nor my school had ever shown me: unabashed obsession.
I wanted to be perfect. I wanted to be obsessed. I wanted to give myself up to a higher ideal, something above human consciousness, something that would endure. I wanted to, well, get up at 6am, do the thing, talk about the thing, breathe the thing and so on - “the thing” in question being, of course, studying. I made elaborate plans, complicated lists, study-plans that shift on a daily basis and cover all grounds, I wanted to study for two hours before school, wanted to repeat lessons, wanted to give myself up to knowledge, made cool covers for my notebooks, made mock exams for my friends to use, planned to focus on each continent for a month and study it, planned to listen to one new composer each day, planned to go to the museum every week, planned to analyze Sherlock Holmes and think just like him, planned to - you get the idea.

I wanted to be like this:

What do you think you’re doing?

Being but a humble servant to the eternal workings of truth. Knowing thou art unworthy, yet suffering the perfection of study.

I wanted to go from 0 to 100, I wanted knowledge and wisdom to transform and deliver me, I wanted to feel enlightened, I wanted to feel my brain burning, pushing frontiers and breaking through to new horizons, I wanted to elevate myself to touch even the lowest levels of truth.
I wanted to do something noble, something worthwhile, something that could never be critisized and would always be valued, something with eternal meaning that would echo through the ages and I wanted to be even the tiniest cog in the machinery of mind.

What are you actually doing?

Being, quite simply, an idiot.

This is one of my favourite quotes (David Wong):

“There are two ways to dehumanize someone: by dismissing them, and by idolizing them.”

The same goes for studying. As shown above, studying won’t work out if you do not treat your subjects with respect. Conversely, studying also won’t work if you continue to idolize it as work beyond all work and reproach, as the only true calling, as the realm of the genii and by self-flagellating yourself and repeating “I’m but a humble servant in your kingdom of reason and will never reach where you are, but will spend all my time trying to reach you.”

Why? Because by saying “I’ll never reach you or be worthy of you”, you’ve already sealed your fate. Some students (no matter how well they actually perform) are stuck thinking that they are stupid and incapable of doing well. Others think that the trick is in the preparation and they undergo complicated rituals of finding exactly the right study spot, exactly the right study drink, exactly the right study time, etc. in the hope of channeling the connection between their godly subject and themselves, but it never turns out quite as glamorous as they’d hoped (once again, speaking from experience).

This is because you cannot force a true friendship if you think yourself unworthy of it. It will always be worship.

And why are you worshipping?
Because it takes the pressure right off of you
. This always annoyed me about some of my fellow students. They treated becoming a good student as this miraculous and unlikely event that only happens to the #blessed.
I insisted that “no”, it could be done. “Yes”, it was hard work, but ultimately absolutely doable. But now that I’ve been in their shoes? I understand.
Admitting that you could have done it anytime implies failure on your part for not having done it. By saying “Oh no, it is so very complex and divine and a lowly worm like me could never hope to crawl in its shadows”, you shift the focus away from yourself and onto the thing itself.

But this is a synthetic, manufactured relationship with a partner that does not even exist. It is, at its heart, a kyaa  ~ I hope senpai notices me! (๑♡⌓♡๑) - kind of relationship. It’s idolizing not a person’s true character, but their appearance, their aesthetic and the values that they represent for you. It’s not really listening to what they’re saying, but warping their words so they fit into your perfect idea of them.
Just, unlike with undereage debasement, you do not play pretend that everything’s fine and secretly hate the other person deep down - you honestly idolize them to heaven and back, so you could never possible reach them.
You’re using them to fill in the holes in your own personality.

And that … just isn’t fun? I dunno about you, but treating studying as something that must be done perfectly with exactly the right pen and the perfect face-mask after the right smoothie and in the right lighting by a window overgrown with ivy and with perfect concentration from the first moment and unwavering, knightly passion and exact planning from 6am to bedtime all because I know deep down that I will not be able to fulfill these ideals and thus don’t have to feel bad about not reaching them just … isn’t for me. I don’t like my relationships to be all overstructured and “perfect” and high maintenance like that.

I want my friendships and my studying to be authentic. And that means that sometimes it’s messy and sometimes it’s hard and sometimes it’s quoting Keats while lying on the floor at 2am in the morning and chugging milk out of a carton, but it’s real.
I truly do understand this longing to make studying look pretty and like a magical realm, because when you’re in the flow that’s really what it feels like. But the beauty comes along with the practice, not the other way round.

No, but honestly - what do I DO then?

Y’remember Hippogriffs from Harry Potter? That’s how I imagine my subjects. Approach them carefully, honestly, maintaining eye contact and as equals and they will respect you. This scene:

This scene is what I’m talking about.
If you were in a worship-state, you would only admire them from afar, gushing over how beautiful they are, but sad that they would never deign to even look in your general direction. (think of all the subjects you thought would be way too difficult for you)
If you were in a debasement-state, you’d either try to make friends with all the hippogriffs, hopping from one to the other and forming no bond with either or you’d “tsk” disdainfully and try to force them to obey you against their will. (*cough* Malfoy *cough*)

If, however, you’re in the green, there will be mutual respect between you and you will be able to fly.

So what does it mean to be in the green?
It means not to do any of the above, obviously, so

  • take your time for and invest brainpower into each and every one of your subjects - be a good friend. Be there. Listen. Even if they have crazy ideas at 4am in the morning.
  • appreciate your subjects and know that they are more than the teacher who tries to get you to know them. Sometimes, some people just have a really shitty PR department (especially maths)
  • don’t think too much or too little of yourself. You can do amazing things, but that does not give you the license not to do amazing things anymore, rest on your laurels and expect others to applaud you for it.

  • some relationships take longer than others to build, but getting to understand someone who puzzled you from the first moment and challenged your beliefs will improve your own personality as well
(side-eye at PE. Yes, I love you now, you crazy athletic bastard)
  • do it for the sake of the relationship itself, because you enjoy their company. Results are presents which, although very much appreciated, should not be the main motivator to keep you going.
This essentially means that you should think of studying as hanging out with a friend - already makes it seem so much more inviting and way less daunting, does it not?

(Logic and I, being saltmates. Real friends judge other people together)
  • be aware that all friendships go through rocky patches and some subjects might take a while to warm up to you or you to them. But if you think that it’s worth it, then you gotta power through that. If you don’t think it’s worth it, you gotta be brave enough to say good-bye.

Look, what I’m actually saying is … be Souma Yukihira from Food Wars.

Food Wars is a crazy and at times pretty pervy manga/anime, but I’ll be damned if it isn’t also one of the best pieces of fiction I’ve ever consumed and if Souma isn’t one of the most admirable main characters I’ve ever encountered.

The relationship between him and cooking is filled with trust, love and equality. He trusts his cooking skills, because he knows that they have spent a long time together - cooking won’t let him down and he won’t ever let cooking down by stopping to look for ways to improve.

That doesn’t mean, however, that he’s always deadly serious - he loves to play around with cooking and to try ridiculous new things. He never forgets the joy that even the simplest form of cooking brings him.

There’s one great episode where he puts his life as a chef on the line and someone fearfully asks him what he’d do if he lost. He shrugs and says he could become a lawyer or a teacher or something. So while he loves cooking profoundly, he does not worship it and he knows that there are other relationships he could build up if he had to. He just …doesn’t want to, because cooking is his bff.

He loves to take on challenges to see how far he and cooking have come -

- and he takes challenges very seriously -

- but takes it even more seriously if he loses -

- and nonetheless knows that they are stronger for the challenges they have faced together.

So, yes, this is what it means to be in the green. Cherish your friendships, hang out together, be honest, funny, clever, curious and you.

You’ll be surprised at how much fun the two of you will have, now that all the pretensions and pressures are gone.

Just …hang out and have fun.

(and maybe watch Food Wars!, because damn, Souma is the MVP of my inspirational heroes)

Have a great day and I’ll see you in the next (and hopefully shorter) part 4 :)

there’s this girl

Title: there’s this girl
Fandom: miraculous ladybug
Rating: K+
Characters: Ladybug (Marinette), Queen Bee (Chloe)
Summary: Queen Bee has a secret. It’s not what Ladybug thinks.

“So there’s this girl.”

Ladybug cocked her head and stared at her friend with wide eyes, mouth falling open to say something, but the look on Queen Bee’s face stopped her in her tracks. Bottom lip caught between her teeth, gaze heavy on her hands clasped tightly in her lips, she looked hesitant and unsure, lacking the confidence and charisma that usually oozed from every pore. Ladybug didn’t know how to respond. It wasn’t every day that Queen Bee chose to open up to her or any of the other heroes of Paris; she held her secrets and identity tighter than any of them did.

“For my father,” she’d say when asked why and rarely said more. Ladybug wasn’t arguing—she did the same thing—but it was different to have someone so similar working beside her. While she enjoyed Volpina’s presence, and Chat Noir was her partner, Queen Bee was something entirely new and unexpected, but not unwanted. Ladybug had spent so long explaining why secret identities were important, and while everyone had accepted that long ago, Queen Bee was the only person who seemed to understood why.

“So there’s this girl,” Queen Bee had said, completely out-of-the-blue and sending Ladybug’s thoughts into a whirlwind, unprompted on an early Saturday after an akuma battle under the silver sunrise of the Paris morning. “And I don’t know what to do.”

“Just play the damn game with me !” - Batmom x Damian

Damian is a brat, but I kinda want to hug him to death…Wait…Oh well, anyway, here’s a little story where Batmom (you) really wants to bond with the kid.

You had gotten it printed into your brain. It was too late now, you couldn’t forget your idea, no matter what. Bruce knew, and didn’t try to stop you from doing what you were gonna do anyway. Besides, he thought it was cute.

What was your idea ? Simple. Damian never had a normal childhood. He was still a kid, only eleven…So he still had a chance at having somewhat of a normal childhood (if you put his nightly activities on the side…and the fact that he had been raised to be a killer).

Against all odds, you and Damian clicked pretty fast. He warmed up to you the fastest…He felt like you were the only one of the bat family not judging him in any way.  Also, you told him off when he was going to far, and he found that he couldn’t speak badly to you, that you had an effect on him that made him want to be nicer. Better…In a word, you quickly became his mommy.

He never really had an actual mother. Talia wasn’t exactly loving with him, and she did try to kill him a few times, succeeding once (a memory you don’t like to remember). You were the first one, even before Bruce or Dick, to make him feel loved and to make him feel what love really was…How could he resist that ?

The first time he called you “mom”, not “mother”, “mom”, you cried, and the poor boy thought he did something wrong. You explained to him that it was “happy tears”, but you’re not sure he understood. He gave you an awkward hug, and you couldn’t stop but smile. It’s that exact moment that forged the idea of trying to show him what a normal childhood was. But, even though he considered you his mom, he wasn’t going to make things easy for you and your plans.

It started out horribly wrong. Damian refused every single propositions you made with a : “that’s too childish” full of rogue, and you got frustrated, ending up yelling a lot of “just play the damn game with me !” and other “Oh my God it’s a snowball it’s not going to kill you, just throw another snowball at me, not a fucking batarang !”…You felt childish. You quickly realized you weren’t going to help him have a normal childhood by trying to force him to do stuffs, and so you stopped. Instead, decided to lure him in with cake…One day, you made a nice one that smelled too good, and he couldn’t help but come in the kitchen, following the smell to the living room where you were eating it. Next thing he knows, he’s sitting next to you, eating a giant piece of cake, watching a disney movie.

And it ended up being a ritual. Every Saturday morning (”mornings” at the Wayne’s ended at 4pm), you and Damian took the habit of waking up earlier than everyone else to cook a cake or some cookies. You’d then eat it all, just the two of you, in front of a Disney movie. Your youngest NEVER saw one before…he actually never watched any animated movies or cartoons. So obviously, you took it upon yourself to show him of course, and you started with your favorite : (your favorite Disney film).

The first time you did that, Damian didn’t really react. He ate the cake, watched the film…and then just left without a word. You were disappointed, thinking he probably didn’t enjoy himself at all, and went back to bed to Bruce’s arms, a bit beat down. Your husband did his best to make you forget and feel better, and he did wonderfully, definitely succeeding.

However you were wrong thinking Damian didn’t enjoy himself, because the next Saturday, he came down in the kitchen to find it empty. He quickly went to your room, where fortunately you and Bruce were just sleeping, and gently woke you up.

-Mom, can we make chocolate chip cookies ? And watch another one of those movies you like ? Please ?

Your heart sunk with happiness, and you left Bruce’s arms, ignoring his groan, to follow your son. This was the first step, spending times with him, enjoying doing something just the two of you. As the Saturdays went on, Damian opened more and more, and stayed at the end of the movie to speak about it with you. At first he was sitting at the opposite side of the couch from you, but week after week, he came closer, until one day, he just laid his head on your shoulder, and let you run your hand tenderly threw his hair.

His favorite Disneys were “Treasure Planet” and “The Lion King”. You were even pretty sure you saw him cry while watching the latter. It made you smile, and at the same time, you realized those movies being his favorite made sense. Both were about boys with daddy issues who were rebels and got in trouble until they did their best to get better.

-You’re cute.

Bruce was looking at you lovingly, leaning on the door frame of the bathroom, arms crossed, while you were rushing to put some clothes on.You just glared at him, the man made you late. He wasn’t suppose to come home that early, and while you were getting ready for an important appointment, he arrived in your shared bedroom where you were in underwear, getting dressed…and he had been unable to stop himself from jumping on you. Making you rush now to try and not be late.

-You’re very cute.

-Shut up Bruce, and out of my way, I gotta go.

You grabbed your purse and ran out…Tried to ran out, as he caught one of your wrist.

-Bruce I have to…

He crashed his lips on yours, pulling you into a passionate French kiss. After a few seconds, he let go off you, and you couldn’t help but smile.

-Thank you Y/N. Really. You don’t have to do all of that and yet…Thank you.

-Don’t thank me babe, because I do have to do all of that. He’s my son too now. I did that with all of them…granted, Damian is a bit more difficult.

He pulled you in for another kiss but you escaped, because you really were going to be late if he kept going on like this. As you ran out of the room, he called back to you :

-I love you !

He heard your faint voice from down the corridor answering with a heartfelt :

-I love you too.

And you were out of the house.

-You’re late.

-I know, I’m sorry Dami’. Blame your father.

-…Hum…Shall we go ?

He nodded and, hands in his pocket, followed you, a bit grumpy that he had to wait for you. He hated waiting. But you decided that maybe it wasn’t so bad for him to learn to be more patient.

Today, you were suppose to pick him up right after school to go at the fun fair, but Bruce made you almost an hour late. To be honest, you didn’t realize it was that late, too…caught up in your Bruce’s arms. You definitely made amend though.

Damian would never admit it, but he spent one of the best evening ever. He won a gigantic teddy bear for you at some dart games, and you guys went on absolutely all of the rides with only one minor incident. When you went to the haunted mansion, Damian kinda…punched one of the actor in the face, out of reflexes. You paid him off to shut up, and scolded your son for his behavior (when really it was kinda funny, the scream he let out just before punching the man). You bought him every treats he wanted, totally spoiling him but hey…it was his first fun fair. It was one of his first time actually just having fun for the sake of it, in a normal place for a kid to have fun, and not because he was fighting or something. Bruce gave him a night off, and both of you didn’t even notice the bat signal as you were having just the time of your life.

You came home late to an almost empty mansion. Alfred was there, and he made you some hot cocoa. You watched a pixar film and fell asleep on the couch, Damian’s head resting in your laps.

When Bruce and the other boys came home, they stopped to stare at you guys, because you were too damn cute. Dick smiled and said :

-It reminds me of when I first arrived here…Snacks and Disney movies…I kinda miss those times. Sometimes, I wish I could be a kid again.

Jason gave him a pat on the back.

-Yeah, it was pretty awesome alright.

Tim was also feeling a bit nostalgic, but didn’t say anything by fear of waking you guys up. As Bruce bent down to pick Damian up, he woke up.

-Hey bud’.

-Mom and I had a great time at the fair.

He was sleepy, and his voice was weak.

-Did you, now ?

-Yeah, she’s awesome.

-That we agree on son, she is.

He took him to bed, and surprisingly, Damian let him tuck him in. He fell back asleep almost instantly. Bruce then went back to pick YOU up, and found you awake, talking with your eldest sons.

-You know guys, if you miss it that much, you can just join us on Saturdays. It could be cool.

-Naaah mom, those times are for you and the brat. I mean, it wouldn’t be fair otherwise. We all had you saving our childhood, he should too.

You smiled at Jason who just spoke, and stroked his cheek gently.

-I just don’t want you guys to feel left out.

-We really don’t, believe me. Besides, we all had the same thing ? Good old…hum…young mom taking us to the fair, watching movies with us…just with one of us, each times. Quality times equally shared. We all had you, and we can definitely share a little more with Dams, really.

You stroked Tim’s cheek now. Smiling lovingly at him. It was true that what you were doing with Damian, you did with all of them. They all needed a “somewhat normal childhood”…You were a mom, you gave it to them as best you could.

-I don’t have anything to say, but can I have my mom’s pat on the cheek too ?

Dick said as he bent down in front of you. You all laughed and after a kiss goodnight, they left to go for a deep slumber in their bedroom.

Bruce approached you, and you raised your arms for him to come crash into it. You liked feeling his weight on you, even though he was a heavy man because of all those damn muscles. It felt secure.

He laid his head on your chest, and you gently ran your hand threw his hair. He gave a pleased sigh, completely relax.

-Again, thank you honey.

-And again, there’s not reasons to thank me.

-Yes there is. I don’t know if you get how important you are to all members of this family. You all gave us a purpose. You’re…You’re the reason we don’t all go crazy. You makes us feel you know…So much feels…

You didn’t answer, just smiled and kiss the crown of his head, gently caressing his hair, just like you did with Damian. It seemed like this gesture was extremely soothing to the Wayne boys. You both fell asleep on the couch, and the next day, which was a Saturday, Damian woke you up. Bruce groaned as he stood up to leave, but his son awkwardly held his hand, signifying to him that he wanted him to stay. Your husband was so surprised he just flopped down back into the couch, and stayed silent staring blankly at the TV that was turned off while you and Damian baked.

And so, from now on, Bruce participated in your special Saturdays.

Actually, from now on Bruce got very involved in trying to get Damian to live a normal childhood, realizing how it started to slowly change his son’s behavior for the best. And realizing the amount of effort you put in it. He was amazed at Damian’s response really, how he laughed more often, and pulled (harmless) pranks on his brothers, Alfred and on Bruce himself. How he was less violent, and a bit less serious. It was definitely the Y/N’s effect. You had the same on him. When you weren’t there, he was all serious and broody, almost mean, and when you were around, he couldn’t help but smile stupidly and laugh at your dumb jokes. The Y/N’s effect was strong.

It took a long time for Damian to finally let go and start to act like a normal child, but he made it. You helped him tremendously. Bruce and your other sons did too. Dick taught him how to ride a bike, Jason took him to the cinema often, Tim played soccer with him. Bruce was particularly involved with everything, as he realized the importance of it all. He wished he had had a Y/N in his life when he was a kid, as he too didn’t really enjoy his childhood after his parents’ death…but he at least got 8 great years, and he was determined to let Damian have his 8 great years too. 10 to 18. A bit more if he wanted.

Family game night was a thing now, and when he lost, Damian almost completely stopped throwing a (scary) tantrum. You all spent more times together as a result of all of those effort to get Damian to live a bit more normally, and it was so worth it.

You were so proud. Of course, it didn’t completely change his behavior and such, as his time with the Al Ghul was almost printed into his brain, but it really helped him be more social. It helped him learn how to love, and how to feel more. It just helped him, and one day, when he’d be old enough to realize all of that, he’d thank you with a warm hug and “happy tears” in his eyes, finally understanding. And you’d tell him that there was nothing to thank. He was your son, what you were doing was normal.

41. Comfort Food, anyone but Hunk--everyone has comfort food, not just foodies ;3

(send me a number and I’ll write a micro story using the word or phrase!)

“Popcorn,” Lance says. “Like, movie theatre popcorn. With extra butter.”

“Gross,” Keith says, shuddering.

“Oh yeah? What’s your comfort food then, mullet man?”

“Don’t call me that.” Keith crosses his arms, considering the question seriously before he answers. “Hot chocolate, maybe.”

“That’s a drink,” Pidge says, pointing at him. “Doesn’t count.”

“I think it’s okay so long as it’s real hot chocolate?” Hunk says. “You know, actual melted chocolate with milk, not that powdery crap.”

“Ah, but is melted chocolate a food, or a liquid?” Lance asks.

“Both?” Shiro offers, looking up from his datapad.

Lance wags his finger. “Nope, no no no, we don’t do that middle of the road stuff here. Gotta pick one.”

Shiro shrugs, pushing away from the table and wandering towards the fridge, ducking inside for a water bottle.

“I like my middle of the road approach,” he says.

“My Dad–” Keith starts, only to cut himself off, nearly choking on the words. Everyone turns to him, startled and wide-eyed, uncomfortably attentive.

anonymous asked:

inquisition companions react to finding out the inquisitor (who always covers their face) is actually the hero of ferelden? (Plus warden Alistair and Morrigan pls?)

Morrigan: She knew instantly, of course. It was the walk, the bearing, the weight on their shoulders and the pride that kept them tall. And their eyes. Those eyes, peeking out from behind their mask, would likely haunt her for the rest of her life, for one reason or another. “I’ll keep your secret, old friend, if you truly do not wish these others to know,” she tells them when she announces that she’s to join the Inquisition. If Romanced: “Ah, my love, how difficult it will be to keep your secret when we shall be sharing a bed. I will not be moved from this. We shall be a family once more, and that’s final. Now, take off that ridiculous mask and kiss me.”

Warden Alistair: Inwardly: Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit. Okay, don’t panic. It’s only your damned commander here. No need to panic. Or say anything dumb. “Heeeeeeeyyyy there!” Damn it! If Romanced: Well, if the way they steal into shadowed corners frequently isn’t enough to give the Warden away, nothing will. But by the Maker, he will spend time with his lover! They’re out here risking their life against impossible odds, as usual, and he doesn’t even get to stay by their side for the duration! Necking in the corner is the least of their worries at this point.

Bonus King Alistair: Yeah, he really didn’t have time to notice. There were more pressing matters to deal with. If Romanced: “Keep that beautiful face covered, love. Your identity is a vulnerable point, as much as I hate that. Our enemies would use you to hurt me and use me to hurt you. If I can’t be here with you, at least you can try to stay safe.”

Leliana: She knew immediately when they were found in the Temple of Sacred Ashes, but she didn’t know what to do with the information. She kept it to herself, allowing Cassandra and the others to think whatever they wanted to think until she had the opportunity to speak to them alone. “Why are you here, what happened?” she asks them. Though their answers are far from satisfactory, she’s willing to trust that her old friend would never have done what they are accused of. If Romanced: “My love, we must stop meeting like this,” she giggles to them even though they’re shackled in a cell. She’s cleared the room to speak to them, ostensibly to question the prisoner. She grins at them, completely certain in her belief that they are innocent, that something else is at work, and she’s simply grateful to be back with her lover even under such circumstances.

Cassandra: She’s suspicious, especially with how careful Leliana is being around them. She wonders why they insist on the mask upon having their hands unbound, but allows it anyway. She has her suspicions about who they are but keep them to herself. When she finally knows for certain, she’s more confused than anything else. “Why not simply tell us who you are?” she asks. “It would have helped remove suspicion from you to know that you were the one who ended the Blight!” If Romanced: “You didn’t trust me with this?” she asks them, a bit hurt. “You are a great hero, someone I admired before we even met. And I treated you so poorly when we met. Knowing this would have saved us both a lot of trouble.”

Cullen: Though the last time he saw the Warden was in the midst of his torture, he remembers them as clear as day. He knows who it is that stands before him on the battlefield, masked and cloaked though they are. He could never forget. He would rather forget. If Romanced: “I knew it was you from the first moment I saw you, mask and all,” he confesses, rubbing the back of his neck. “I wanted to thank you, to ask your forgiveness for what happened the last time we saw each other, but I realized that you must be hiding for a reason so I stayed quiet. I’ve kept your secret, and I will continue to do so if that is your wish.”

Solas: He knows the name, he knows the title, he knows the significance of their actions, but he doesn’t know them. He recognizes them as he studies the Anchor, but it seems to him that their identity doesn’t particularly matter. He keeps it to himself more out of indifference than any desire to keep their secret. Whatever they seek by hiding won’t affect his plans at all, so it doesn’t matter. If Romanced: “I knew. I’ve seen your face in the Fade more than enough to recognize you, but I saw no reason to reveal this information. We were both under enough suspicion as it was without adding to it unnecessarily.”

Sera: She didn’t know. She had no idea. She thinks it’s kind of cool and she’s impressed that they were able to keep the secret so long. “If you’re that good at hiding yourself, think you’ll be that good at pranks?” If Romanced: “So you were a hero even before all this Coriffyshite? Wow, you’re even bigger than I thought. Famouser. More famous. Oh, you know what I mean. Now give me a kiss, you big hero.”

Blackwall: He’s taken entirely by surprise, and one of his first thoughts once the shock wears off is why they didn’t out him as not being a Warden. He’s too afraid to ask, of course. It’s humbling, though, to be in their presence, to know them so well and work together as they do. If Romanced: Again, he wonders why they didn’t tell everyone he wasn’t a Warden, but he figures that someday he’ll work up the courage to ask. “I’m sort of honored that you would want me, after everything, out of everyone. You could have just about anything or anyone you want, but I’m so glad it’s me.”

Vivienne: She didn’t know enough about the Hero of Ferelden to pick them out of a crowd, but the mask made her suspicious since they clearly weren’t Orlesian and it wasn’t decorative like hers; it was a mask to hide behind, not a mask to show off. She tried many times to parse their secret, to discover what lay under that mask. She had a feeling it was important and a good thing to know, but after a while she decided to let it be. If they wanted to tell her the truth, then they would, but all she was doing was exhausting herself. When she finally does find out, she’s more delighted than anything else and congratulates them on their ability to keep their identity secret for so long.

Dorian: Honestly, it wasn’t his business and he didn’t really care to find out why they always wore a mask. When he does find out, he thinks it’s all a marvelous joke and spends quite a long time trying to figure out what everyone would think if they found out. If Romanced: “Well, that’s… oddly intimidating, now that I think of it. You defeated an archdemon. Oh, amatus, and now you have to face another one? One that is controlled by an evil, ancient magister, no less? Don’t worry, I’ll be right beside you the whole time.”

Iron Bull: He had his suspicions. He’s not Ben-Hassrath for nothing, after all. But he kept his thoughts to himself and went along as if everything were just peachy. When the truth is finally revealed to him, he claps them on the shoulder. “No wonder you’re so good at slaying dragons!” If Romanced: “Yeah, I know. Thanks for trusting me with it, though. It’s okay, kadan. I’ve got your back.”

Varric: He didn’t know until they told him. “Look at that! I get to fight alongside both big heroes of the age!” he cries. “This is so going in my book. It’s way too interesting not to.”

Cole: He knew. Of course he knew. “Yes, tainted blood, aching heart, you’ve seen so much death, lost so much of yourself. It’s okay. I’m here. I’ll try to help.”

Josephine: She didn’t know, didn’t guess. She knew there was something worth hiding under there, of course, but she didn’t expect this. She wonders what the secret will do to the Inquisition, if it should be revealed or not. She leaves the decision up to them, but worries about the consequences if the secret is discovered by their enemies or accidentally revealed by their allies. If Romanced: “Oh, my love, why didn’t you tell me? This changes nothing about my feelings for you, of course, but I wish I had known!”

Personal Yuri on Ice Fic Rec List

I browse AO3 for new YOI fics everyday, at least four times a day. Yes, that is my life now. This is Part Three. Part OnePart Two, Part Four, and Part Five also exist.

1. Once More, With Feeling
Yuuri wakes up in Detroit after going to bed under heavy stress and emotional turmoil due to Victor’s declining mental health. Things are different. He’s dreaming, obviously. And in dreams, people can do what they want. So Yuuri decides to do what he wants. If only he could have accepted this new reality. Then the realization wouldn’t hurt so much later on. But ignorance keeps the pain of reality away.

2. Re: Yuri Katsuki
Phichit Chulanont is fiercely loyal to his best friend Yuri Katsuki. So when he randomly gets a direct message on Instagram from one v_nikiforov, it’s only natural for Phichit to assume it’s a prank. That is until he comes to realize it’s not a prank.

3. Trade Your Heroes For Ghosts
Having endured what was probably the worst day of his life, Yuuri wakes up with the hangover of a century and a desperate plea for the world to forget about his existence. Alas, the world has other plans. So does a certain Russian skater.

4. By My Side
Things happen a bit differently after the banquet. Yuuri doesn’t actually forget everything. And he wants to see Victor again.

5. A Glittering Path
Four times Yuuri made Viktor cry (happy tears, that is!), and one time (or more) they both cried. (You’re allowed to cry at a wedding, aren’t you? Especially if it’s your own.)

6. Winter Song
Yuuri was aware that at some point — a moment in time he couldn’t quite place — Victor had become his boyfriend. There wasn’t a single instant when it happened. It was a slow awareness, as if Victor had silently been asking the question for months now, and Yuuri had been giving him the answer a little more with each passing day.

7. Lessons in Love
All Viktor wants is for his son to be happy - and if that means spending countless hours at the ice rink, a million more in the ballet studio, and devotedly cheering for Katsuki Yuuri at every competition he enters, then that is precisely what he’ll do. He just didn’t expect to become a fan, too. (He didn’t expect to fall in love.)

8. The Spaces Shaped for You
The paths they’d chosen after the Grand Prix Final wouldn’t be easy, particularly with Nationals just ten days away, but one thing was certain: no matter what happened, their paths would always come together in the end.

9. Bear Your Soul on the Ice
At age fourteen, Katsuki Yuuri had been determined to be Japan’s next great figure skating hope, but with no coach that would never happen, so his ballet instructor packs him up off to Russia to train with Yakov Feltsman. The Yakov Feltsman, otherwise known as the coach to rising figure skating star — and Yuuri’s idol — Viktor Nikiforov.

10. Grand Prix Finals with the Russian Skating Family
The new skating season begins, and Yuuri works hard to get his gold medal for the Grand Prix Finals with the Russian Skating Family. Yes. The Russian Skating Family.

11. Makes the Heart Fonder
This was going to be hard — they both knew that — but they would willingly take any of the punches thrown at them. It had been rough when Victor returned to Japan to be at Makkachin’s side, but they both pulled through. And, either by willingness or stubborn determination, they would manage, time and time again. But now— now when Victor was in Canada, and Yuri was in Russia on Victor’s side of their bed, where the pillows sighed his scent and his cologne, he missed the sound of his fiancé’s voice more than anything in the world.

12. With Fire in Their Eyes
Not applause. Screams. The light is wrong because a fourth of the ceiling projectors are missing. The sky is dark. No stars. Something gleams behind the broken sky. And moves. Something he can’t — won’t — something. Something that’s looking at him.

13. You can have everything…
Before the Grand Prix Final starts in Sochi, Yuuri finds Victor’s phone. He returns it— and hijinks and heavy flirtation ensue.

14. I’d rather be skating
Sometimes, when a muggle child gets an acceptance letter from a wizarding school, they say no. Victor Nikiforov would rather be skating. Yuuri Katsuki would rather be normal.

15. say not a word; I can hear you
“He was from Hasetsu,” Chris tells him quietly. “Oh.” Caught mid-laugh is a slight, young man with kind, brown eyes. He’s soft all around where edges should be, nothing like - nothing like a Ranger. “You think he’s gone back there? Really?” There’s a pause, Chris spinning his spanner around his knuckles. He shrugs. “I dunno, Yuuri’s always had a streak of crazy in him. So. Maybe.”

16. sharp dressed man
Victor’s such a peacock normally, and now he looks a bit like a half-molted one; glitzy fabric half-hidden under the sober visage of a respectable coach, skates exchanged for Yuuri’s gear.

17. to the winner goes the gold
In which Yuuri and Viktor are competing against each other in the following year’s Grand Prix Final, and they’re still (very much) smitten with each other.

18. in the spaces between
Yuuri’s life in St Petersburg is spread between four languages.

19. falling through the ice
Home. Home is Viktor’s sparse St. Petersburg apartment, which is now where Yuri keeps his clothes and his toothbrush and his silver medal, which Viktor hung above the fireplace, and his extensive collection of Viktor Nikiforov posters, because Minako had mailed every one of them from Hatsetsu. (Yuri had shoved them into a drawer, but Viktor put some of his favorites on the fridge, next to the photos he’d had printed of Yuri in his juniors costumes.) Home, where every time Viktor sees Yuri chattering excitedly to the triplets over Skype or hears Mari complain over the phone about the time difference, he feels guilty for keeping Yuri to himself, as if he’s the one stealing Yuri from the world now. “What will Viktor Nikiforov’s fans say if he falls like that in competition?” Viktor sighs, not moving. “What will his protégée and rival Yuri Katsuki say?”

20. never stop until the grave
Back in St Petersburg, Victor attempts to combine coaching Yuuri with preparing for his own return to competition. The spirit is willing but the flesh may be weak.

21. he meets me where i am
Something gold catches the light, drawing his attention. There’s a gold ring on Victor’s ring finger. “Ah,” Yuuri says, his heart giving a last squeeze, a futile reminder of the silly crush he once had. “Congratulations on your marriage,” he says, as cheerily as he can.

22. our doubts are traitors
Some ghosts of your past you leave well alone.

There are a lot of shorter pieces on this list, but nonetheless I’m grateful to the authors - and the artists! - who continue to provide high-quality content even though the anime isn’t airing right now. Has Season 2 been confirmed yet???

Reaction to Your Cousin Saying You Should Get Married and Have Kids. . .

Anonymous said: heyyy, i absolutely love your reactions. i feel like you get all their personalities on point. ;) so, if requests are open–i know you get a lot, but i’m hoping they’re open–then i would like one for monsta x where youre babysitting your little cousin, and she/he says you guys should marry and have kids for him/her to play with. i see this one a lot, and i love it, but not for mx so im hoping you could make one for them pretty please!^^ love you Eonni!

Reaction to Your Cousin Saying You Should Get Married and Have Kids…

A/N aww thank you for the sweet compliment Anonie,,, i try . hope you love this reaction too!

Key: Y/C/N = Your Cousin’s Name

You two would be playing with your four year old cousin in the living room when you have to go tend to the food in the kitchen. You get up and make your way into the kitchen, leaving Shownu and your little cousin alone to play with blocks together. Your cousin would look to your boyfriend and smile while saying in his sweet little voice, “You and Y/N should get married and have two kids, so then I can have friends to play with!” Shownu would practically choke on air, his cheeks heating up too much for his liking. “T-two!? Why two?” He would ask, laughing in embarrassment, causing his sweet eye smile to appear. “So then I can have one boy and one girl to play with.” Your cousin would answer simply. Shownu would be at a loss, not sure how to respond to this large request from a four year old. He would end up laughing, this situation just seeming so absurd. When you come back into the living room with the food all prepared, asking what’s going on, Shownu wouldn’t be able to look at you without thinking of the process of having kids, his cheeks once again heating up, still unable to control his laughter.

You would be helping your little cousin build a hut out of pillows while Kihyun sits to the side watching with an admiring smile on his lips. Loving the sight of you in what seems to be your natural habitat. However, this sweet moment would end when the hut is built, but your cousin stands there with a slight frown. “What’s wrong?” You would ask him, gently placing a hand on his back as you crouch down next to him. “This would be better if I had friends who could fit in there with me…” He would reply, his bottom lip puffing out in a pout. He would turn and look to you, then to Kihyun behind you, then back to you. A smile grows on his lips as he speaks his next thoughts. “Couldn’t you and Ki get married and make a friend for me?” He asks in the most innocent manner. There’s a silence, Kihyun and you stunned and at a loss for words. Until Kihyun breaks that silence with a loud laugh. Kihyun would quickly step in, asking questions to diminish the shock and distract your cousin, “What is this hut for Y/C/N? Are you going to use it as your secret lair?” Smiling sweetly, eventually making your cousin forget all about marriage and kids. However, this would stick with Kihyun, the thought never really popped up in his mind, but he realizes that the feelings he has for you are close to those of two people getting married and starting a family, and that wouldn’t bother him in the slightest. He would proceed by taking this suggestion very seriously, entertaining the idea of spending the rest of his life with you and starting a family.

He would find this hilarious, but like, would also become very flustered. But because he’s so flustered, he would end up laughing really hard about this. Making the situation worse. You would need to kick Wonho out of the room to collect himself while you try to distract your cousin who is now repeating; “You should get married! You should have kids!” In a chant-like fashion while laughing as well, copying Wonho. You would finally get your cousin to relax by putting a movie on while you walk into the kitchen where your boyfriend is standing with a huge smile on his face. “I’m sorry Jagiya, but that really caught me off guard, I… I was really flustered about thinking of… Doing that stuff with you… I’m sorry…” He would apologize while running a hand through his hair. This would be a memory that stays with Wonho, the silliness of it being a big factor, but also the thought of marrying you and having kids one day exciting him, making the moment even more memorable.

This would also be hilarious to him. He would think your little three year old cousin is a riot. He would end up loving your cousin like his own from this day on. He would smile widely to your cousin while leaning in and whispering, but like, not really a whisper ‘cause you could hear it, “Shhhh, you’ll ruin the surprise!” While smirking at you so as to tease you more, but like, he was only half joking. He had no plans to let you go no matter how much he drove you crazy at times. Later when you ask him why he got your cousins hopes up he would answer like, “Why do you think I was joking, Jagi?” With that cute smile of his.

The moment you let him play with your cousin, he knew something was gonna happen, he just didn’t know what. However, your cousin didn’t give him much time to contemplate what could happen when he asked your boyfriend an unsuspecting question. “When are you going to marry Y/N and make kids for me to play with?” I.M. would break into a shy smile while a slight chuckle escapes his lips. “Um, I’m not sure yet Y/C/N.” ‘Yet’ being the key word that stuck out to you. Later when Y/C/N is asleep and you and I.M. are cuddling, he would look down to you and with a completely serious expression, not giving away any emotion as he asks, “So, what do you think about Y/C/N’s suggestion?” Giving you a teasing nudge while flashing a look that sends butterflies fluttering in the pit of your stomach.

Hyungwon would be completely struck by your cousin’s innocents in the question. Because of this he would be more occupied with your cousin and laughing at how adorably he looked up at Hyungwon rather than the actual question itself. He would burst out into laughter at how impossibly cute your three year old cousin can be. Later when Hyungwon is laying in bed, thinking the day and about your adorable cousin, he would try to recall what he had even asked. When he remembers the actual question he would lay there like ‘oh shit…’ then become overcome with shyness at the thought of you bearing his child–it being be too much for him to handle.

His first instinct would be to get out of this conversation as soon as possible. He would laugh, but try really hard to hold in his laughter, and try to distract your cousin from such ideas. He would look to you with a huge smile though, because the thought is really tempting. Later, he would joke about it with you, asking if you talked to your cousin about thoughts like these, and if that’s where your cousin got the idea. However, he would let on that he liked the idea of being with you and only you, but wouldn’t be able to look at you full on because he’s still a shy baby about it.

A Captains Wish

A Captains Wish

It came second nature to baby Bucky. The man was a walking cuddly bear. So Steve wasn’t surprised when he had brought his friend in the compound and a special tech worker was bewitched by James.

She was a very good tech, so good that she became the second hand for Maria Hill, helping her hack programs and websites to the point where she could do it in her sleep. So having her roaming the compound wasn’t very strange. She’s an eater, wastes half her time chewing on junk food. So waking up at around half past three to grab a chip bag wasn’t out of the norm. But finding a slightly trembling hunched Bucky, sure as hell was.

From then on, the girl kept crossing paths with him. Seeing him sitting beside her in movie nights, finding his chair closer to her during the time the whole avengers gather to eat together, finding his things with hears, (her headphones would be next to his wallet, her shoes would be close to his boots.) And she liked it. Very much, actually.

"Hey Bucky,” The brunet tech asked, as she walked closer to the man on the stool. “What are you up to?” The girl grabbed the milk jug and poured herself a glass.

“Nothing,” Bucky grumbled, pushing away his hair before grabbing his water bottle. Eyes trained everywhere but her.

“Well, its Sunday.” The girl grumbled, making an icky face. “Wanna do something before it strikes Monday?” She offered, drowning her cup before opening the cup bored and grabbing out her stash of junk food. She would always re fill it. Seeing as half the team takes whatever they want. Albeit she never showed any sighs that she didn’t want them to, or that she found it annoying, because truth be told she didn’t.

Bucky didn’t respond. His metal plates squeezing the plastic, as his hair fell before his ears and covered his cheeks. Grumbling incoherently he pushed it back behind his bitty ears, slightly scratching his skin from his rough metal slits with the force he had added.

“Can I braid your hair?” The girl asked, turning around to show him her hair. She had Dutch braided it to the tip of her ass, the wave looked magnificent.

“Go ahead.” He sat strainer in his chair, having the girl come behind him and running her fingers through his skull. The pads of her thumbs grazed his soft roots, while she parted three stands and started its brim.

“So, do you still want to do something?” She hummed, focusing over the braid. “I thought maybe we could go out,” She contributed, her tone faltering. “I mean it’s so stuffy being here, I mean maybe we should just go out and see the park, the one that has a forest in it.” She stoped after a while, having ended right at his ear lines, “Bucky do you have a hair tie?”

The tech didn’t say, but ran a hooked finger behind his ear and pulled a strand of lock. She might as well finish it to the bottom.

“There,” The brunet stated, she had removed one of her hair ties and enclosed it around his hair. “You look very handsome.” She giggled as he turned around but couldn’t see his hair. “Let me take a picture.” She pulled her phone then clipped him a shot.

“Looks very nice.” Bucky answered, running his soft metal plates over the contraption.

“Let’s just watch something. I don’t feel like getting out.” Bucky honestly replied. He put his bottle in the fridge before turning to her. “I don’t care what movie, it’s too cold to go out.” Pointing to the window to further prove his point. Cobwebs of frost caked the windows, but evident flakes drifted the nights air.

Together they walked and sat down, the common room being empty, they watched movies after countless movies. Both funny, scary and dumb. Bucky was enjoying himself. Having his foot patched up the table while half his body laid over the couch. His laugh was contagious, boisterous chuckles filled the void with her perky giggles laced together in perfect harmony.

And before they knew it, as Monday neared it’s peak, Bucky had fallen into a dreamless blissful sleep, while the girl stood up to push the super solider over the couch and cover him with her blanket. Kneeling down, she pressed a hot kiss to his cheek before being caught by Steve’s lingering look.

The day Bucky had entered the life of the avengers, Steve made it clear he didn’t want his friend to feel out of place, and gave Sam a long lecture of behaving himself before Bucky. He even begged Tony’s new recruit to heed his thoughts and stay away from the metal arm. Something about Peters love for science would annoy Bucky.

“Promise me you won’t let anything happen to him.” Rogers interrupted, motioning to his only link from the 90’s. "He means everything to me, (Y/N).” Steve corrected. “Promise me,” Rogers asked again,  "You won’t let anything happen to him.” Captain walked from the door and closer to the couches.

Nodding her head, The super solider crushed her between his chest. The platinum hair shoved in between her eye sight. “Thank you.” Rogers chanted, as he crushed her with each embrace.

“It’s fine Steve,” The young lady assured. “He means a lot to me too.” The lady spoke softly. Returning his embrace as he picked her up From the ground and and continued to find solace in her embrace.

Their heads shot to the side once Bucky made a move to stand up. Not even blinking an eye towards his friends sharing an intimate moment together. But fell back right onto his pillow, his snores loud and clear.

“Does he sleep walk?”

“I don’t know …”

Could you write a niall blurb about being mad at eachother and he keeps trying to fix it every time he does whatever it is wrong by buying chocolate an flowers and your tired of him doing that to make up for his wrong doing?

Niall had been known to disappear when he was recording.  When the two of you started dating, he took off after your third date because the group was in the middle of recording FOUR.  You didn’t hear from him for almost two weeks.  You moved on, even said yes to a date with another guy.  So when Niall called up the night before your date like nothing was wrong, it took him three hours to get you to understand.

What made you finally crack and give him another chance?  Any man who would spend three hours on the phone trying to convince you he wasn’t playing with your head was probably someone worth taking another look at.

When the group went off to record Made in the A.M. it wasn’t such a shock.  In fact, you weathered the almost three week absence rather well.  You had classes and exams to take your focus anyway.

Besides, when Niall finally returned…he was good at making it up to you.  Very good.

It had been a week since he’d kissed your forehead, told you he would call you later and walked out of your house.  He hadn’t called or texted since.  It was like he’d dropped off the face of the earth.  He didn’t even come home for a change of clothes.

And it wouldn’t have bothered you, if he hadn’t left you sitting next to an empty chair across from your parents at an expensive Italian restaurant.  Your mother did what she always did, she tried to ignore the elephant in the room while your father boisterously exclaimed that he loved Italian food and this was some of the best he’d ever had.

Humiliated didn’t even begin to explain how you felt.  Alone, empty, betrayed and generally pissed off came close.

“You’re mister J’s new obsession, Sugar” 2/3 - Bruce Wayne x Reader

Summary : The Joker kidnapped you over a week ago, and your family is starting to really panic. Chapter 2/3.

Warnings : Violence, because we’re talking about the Joker here…Hope you’ll enjoy it as much as the first part ! Don’t hesitate to tell me what you think :).

A few hours after your capture, you finally met him. For real. And it was the most terrifying thing you ever lived.

A wall opened up on the side of the bedroom, and Harley Quinn entered first. Her face was swollen, all sort of shades of blues and purple. Some green around the chin. Black around the eyes.  And behind her followed the clown.

He pushed the ex-shrink out of his way brutally, and she tripped and fall with a loud thud. He didn’t pay attention to her at all, circling around you like a shark.

You held your breath in, he was getting closer.

Harley was still on the floor, not moving, and though she was crazy and tried to kill your husband multiple times, you couldn’t help but feel pity for her. You knew she genuinely had a mental disorder, she wasn’t a complete psycho, a wild dog with rabies like the Joker. You knew she was helplessly in love with the clown, and in return, he was nothing but abusive…You just felt so sorry for her.

But only for a few seconds, because now, the Joker was so close to you that you could feel his breath on your face…

-Hello there.

His voice wasn’t pleasant. At all. Bruce’s voice was gentle, deep and low, you would give anything to hear it now…But all you heard was his nasal and irritating voice.

You didn’t say anything. His eyes narrowed.

-A polite and distinguish woman like you should greet me in return.

You stayed silent. He smiled, and it made you shiver.

-Oh, that’s sexy. You shiver at the mere sight of me. I knew we’d quickly get along.

You made a face of disgust at his misinterpretation, to make sure he understood that no, you didn’t shiver because he aroused you, but because he freaked the Hell out of you. But apparently, according to the Joker, a grimace of disgust was the equivalent of a love declaration, as his lips suddenly crashed on yours.

You were so stunned, that you didn’t react at all when he planted a bruising kiss on your lips, his tongue trying to enter your mouth, his teeth biting ruthlessly your bottom lip…But you quickly regain your senses, and bit him, hard, as a reflex.

He swore, in pain, taking a few steps back from you…and then he just laughed. Laughed, laughed and laughed, and you felt tears welled up in your eyes, more scared than you ever been.

-I like a woman with character !! Oooh we’re gonna have fun (Y/N), so much fun ! I’m going to…What is that ? Are you cheating on me ?

He was showing the love bites Bruce left on your neck the night before.

You shuddered, understanding Harley’s words. “You’re mister J’s new obsession, Sugar”…Somehow, somewhere in his deranged mind, the Joker had decided that you were his. That you and him were “an item”. It froze your blood. Oh my God….

For years you heard stories of that damn clown going on around Gotham. Everyone talked about him as if he was the Boogeyman himself. No. As if he was worst than the Boogeyman. Worst than the Devil. And he was the only one that Bruce always refused to speak about…Which was saying a lot. There were urban legend that kids told each other around a camp fire, about The Joker coming in the darkest of night, to take them away, drag them with him to whatever Hell he lived in…

This time, he came for you. And given the effort he put in recreating the bedroom you had back at the mansion, you couldn’t help but think he carefully planned everything, and that you’d never get found…You felt like even your Batman couldn’t do anything this time.

-No one, NO ONE, abuse my trust and get out of it without a scratch. Ooooh (Y/N), you shouldn’t have done that. We’re gonna have fun, so much fun. Well, at least, I will. I promise. I’ll try and make it enjoyable for you though…

And on those words, he grabbed your hair harshly, pulled on them with force tilting your head back, kissed you again (you wanted to vomit)…and slowly took a sharp and dirty knife up to one of the love bites.

You held your screams in as the craziest and most psychotic man in Gotham City started to cut out your skin, carefully making sure that no trace from Bruce’s love remained on your body. No trace at all.

Bruce was going crazy. A week. It had been a fucking week since your kidnapping. And he had absolutely no lead. Not a single clue.

For seven days, he desperately roamed the city every night, looking for any intels, brutalizing and plain torturing dozens and dozens of people that might have an idea of where the Joker went…But they all had the exact same answer :

-There’s nothing you can do to us, that he won’t do, but ten times worst. Hit us all you want Batsy, even if we knew where he was, which we don’t, we wouldn’t say anything. Because your treatment is better than what he’d do to us.

Gotham’s hospitals were overcrowded with low life criminals and other nut jobs.

Your children were as panicked and desperate as their father, and none of them had much sleep since you were taken. Dick had to carry Damian back home today, as the boy fell asleep, unable to stop himself.

Alfred forced them to get some rest, and after a lot of yelling and anger, they were just too exhausted to argue anymore, and they all fell asleep in the bat cave. Damian was curled up next to the bat cow, Tim was asleep on his computer’s keyboard, Dick and Jason were back to back, arms crossed, done resisting sleep.

But there was one Alfred couldn’t convince, or tire out…Bruce. He was determined to have no rest until you were safe. He couldn’t lose you. He wouldn’t bear it…He couldn’t even bear the mere thought of loosing you. So he kept going, fighting his exhaustion fiercely.

If you died, he would never be whole again.

You resisted for them. You were strong for them.

Only the thought of your husband, of your children, and of the butler you came to call “dad” kept you alive.

Harley never came back in your cell, but the Joker was there almost every hour of the day. You could feel his touch lingering on your body when he wasn’t.

If you counted it right, it had been a week. A week of abuse of all sort. A week of trying to get out. A week, getting weaker each minutes. A week, and your Bruce still wasn’t there…For the first time in your life, you started to think he really wasn’t coming. Your heart faltered…

The door in the wall opened, and you raised your head with pride. Your eyes full of hatred met his crazed ones.

-Oh my oh my oh my. Always so…full of dignity. I like it. Now (Y/N), what shall I do with you today ?

It was Damian who found her. He was patrolling around the city weakly, the thought of his mother between this maniac’s hand refusing to leave his mind, when his path crossed hers.

Harley Quinn.

She looked pathetic. More than usual. When she saw him, she didn’t even try to run away or anything. On the contrary.

-Robin. Ooooh Robin. Take me to the Batman, I have informations. Important informations. About Bruce Wayne’s wife.

It took everything in Bruce not to punch the woman as she came in. Just because she was with the Joker the night they took you away from him, he wanted to punch her. He often felt irrational emotions when it came to you…jealousy over someone who had no chance with you, anger over people who disrespected you…Genuine murderous thoughts toward the one who helped your kidnapping, and was standing in front of him as if she was the most innocent woman in the world. But he didn’t hurt her in any way, he knew it wasn’t totally her fault. She was sick.

It took everything in Dick too. And in Tim. And Jason. For the same reason.

When he saw her, Damian hadn’t been able to resist…And Harley had a fresh black eye. He tried to make her talk about his mother’s location, making her understand he would go to any ends to find her…but she refused to say anything if it wasn’t to the bat himself.

He covered her eyes, and took her to the bat cave.

Bruce didn’t even let her time to adjust to the bright lights around her.

-Where is she ?

Harley didn’t answer. Dick, with a voice full of anger that didn’t resemble him at all, said :

-Answer us Quinn, where is she ?! Is she alright ?!

Tim, usually very calm and collected, just like Bruce, grabbed her by the collar and was about to become violent when…

-Wowza. Calm down boys. Do you think I’d willingly follow Batsy Jr over there if I didn’t wanna talk ?

-How can we trust you though ?

Jason raised a good point, that in the heat of the action, the others didn’t even think about.

-Oh you can trust me alright. Ok, I’m a pathologic liar and the voices in  my head tell me to shut up and take you in the wrong direction and stuffs, but…really, you can truuuuust me.

Alfred, bless him for always being the voice of reason and having the good ideas, went to take a lying detector from the accessories’ cabinet. Bruce thanked him, and shook his head to take his worries, anger and fears out of his mind. He had to regain his composure, he had to calm himself down, or he could miss an important clue. He couldn’t let his judgement be clouded, your life was at stake.

Hooked on the machine, Harley started to talk. And not a lie came out of her mouth. She wasn’t like the Joker, she wasn’t able to control her emotions, so if she actually was lying, they would have known.

-I came here to tell you. I miss my Mister J. He hasn’t touched me once, not even to hit me since she’s there…He didn’t even notice my absence. So…Here I am. I’m going to tell you.

They were waiting, shifting around impatiently.

-First, she’s alive, not quite alright though haha.

It didn’t make them laugh, quite the contrary, and Harley gulped loudly.

-She’s…Not in the best shape. But alive. I’ll show you where.

-Tell us.

-No, I’ll show you.

-You really think we’re gonna fall for that ?

-You do, or you won’t see her ever again. Believe me. And from my understanding, she’s not just Bruce Wayne’s precious little pet.

-She’s not a pet !! I’ll kill y…

-Robin, contain yourself !

His father’s strict and calm voice took Damian back to reality. The Batman turned to the Joker’s ex-girlfriend :

-Alright Harley, we’ll follow you. But if you try to pull any of your…

-I won’t. If there’s one time in your life you can trust me Batsy, it’s now. I want my Mister J’s back, and I won’t until that woman’s out of his life. So now, untie me, get me out of your man cave, and follow me. Because I know where she is, and I’m not sure she has much time left, Mister J tends to get bored easily with his obsessions…

In a cell that looked exactly like the bedroom you shared with Bruce, you were laying in the same king sized bed you had home. But it wasn’t home, it was Hell…The bogeyman took you there. No, worst than the bogeyman. The Joker. And you weren’t sure you could take it for much longer…

To Be Continued, final and last part up some time next week :D.

Two Liars in an Impala: Deconstructing The Brologue from 11x23

I know there must be meta about this particular exchange up the tumblr wazoo, but not on this particular wazoo blog and not written by me and - honestly - I need to get these impressions out of my head or my poor melon is set to explode. And soon. Thusly, I ask you, please, to bear with me and I thank you most sincerely. And here goes.

Let’s begin straight off with a transcript of the dialogue in question, taking place between Dean and Cas in the Impala as they go for a beer run after they’ve had their last confrontation with Amara in 11x22. That confrontation resulted in Amara exorcising Lucifer from Cas’ body before she, you know, mortally wounded God. Anyway, overarching plot aside, this is all about the Destiel subplot and how it’s been built into a crescendo with every single season. They came so close here and it’s pretty damn glorious to read how cleverly simplistic they are about it. It’s also painful and rather heartbreaking to read between the lines and see how fucking in love these two guys are with each other and neither believes the other feels the same. But more of that in a moment.

Here’s the exchange:

Dean: How you doin’? You good? I mean, you know, the whole Lucifer thing.
Cas: That was just so stupid.
Dean: No, no, no, it wasn’t stupid. You were right. You were right to let Lucifer ride shotgun. Me and Sam wouldn’t ‘ve done that.
Cas: Well, it didn’t work.
Dean: No, but it was our best shot. And you stepped up.
Cas: I was just trying to help.
Dean: Yeah, and you do help, Cas, you know, I… Sometimes, me and Sam, we’ve got so much going on that we forget about everyone else.
Cas: Well, you do live exciting lives.
Dean: Yeah, that’s one word for it. …But you’re always there, you know. You’re the best friend we’ve ever had. You’re our brother, Cas, and I want you to know that.
Cas: Thank you.

If you surface-read this quickly it’s very basic dialogue between two friends, one reassuring the other that his choice was a good choice, that he does help and that he’s appreciated for it. If this was the only scene you ever watched with these two characters, perhaps this is all you’d take from it. You wouldn’t notice that first glance of affection from Dean before he even starts speaking, and you wouldn’t notice the quiet devastation on Cas’ face at being called a “brother”. You wouldn’t feel the pauses Dean takes and you wouldn’t think there’s any more to Cas’ rather short, but at-first-glance earnest, statements. Truth is, I don’t think I could even blame you for not noticing, because you’re not aware of their backstory, you don’t know what those looks and pauses actually signal or where they have their root. So, let’s go root-digging, shall we?
