“To hear that such a dreadful monster lurked in the Hall of Darkness is…alarming.”
Actual dialogue from the Outland Count after finally beating the Warped Savior. I mean yes it is alarming but, really, what kind of monsters do you expect from a labyrinth literally called the Hall of Darkness
Because it’s a movie aimed primarily as kids that has awesomely diverse female representation when it comes to personalities, as well as beautiful animation, explains minds and emotions and memories and all that stuff in a way children can easily understand, passes the Bechdel test in like the first ten minutes, and stresses the importance of your own personal mental and emotional health.
This is a movie with a female protagonist (who enjoys both rainbow unicorns and hockey) that tells kids that if they’re feeling out of sorts, if they’re feeling sad or angry or afraid or disgusted, that’s okay. That’s normal. And it’s telling them to speak up, to tell someone, to express what they feel, because bottling up your emotions - putting on a brave face when you really need to cry - only leads to more pain.
Inside Out teaches kids that it’s okay to feel and that is so, so, so important.
Mamma Shea returns to Tivoli tonight on an all new episode of Eyewitness! I’ll be live tweeting at 10/9c and again for the West Coast. Be sure to tag@usa_network in all tweets and use #Eyewitness to let them know why we should keep the story going!
The time for spoilers is once again approaching. (I don’t know exactly when, please don’t ask) Please remember to not repost the spoiler pictures unless given the okay by the original poster. (Which I’m sure won’t happen, but who knows) They have made it very clear and will likely continue to make it known they don’t allow reposting. And they do find these things out, so it’s better to respect their wishes and remain better safe than sorry so they continue posting. Thanks guys!
Now that the recording is over I can talk about this without fearing it’ll get lost between updates and screaming.
First of all: DON’T REPOST/REBLOG/RETWEET PHOTOS OR VIDEOS THAT MAY SPOIL THE BROADCAST AND/OR THE RESULTS OF CERTAIN EVENTS I mean, I’m pretty sure most of us already know the results but please try to avoid spreading the spoilers as it’ll be easier for MBC to find them and they’ll end up cutting those parts. Don’t believe me? Well, remember last year how Tzuyu’s archery gif went viral before the broadcast? And how ARMYs kept sharing fancams of BTS’ performance during archery? This gave MBC editors a plausible excuse to cut short the entire archery event and it looked weird, you can tell it was an almost last minute edit. “Oh, but it had to be done because the entire broadcast was cut short” Yes and no. ONCEs knew how much the gymnastics event meant for Mina and even though she kept going everywhere with a hoop they tried their best not to spoil her routine. The time that could’ve gone to the archery event was used instead to show the footage of her practicing the routine the previous night. There was absolutely no reason to show that, having the MCs comment on how she had previously done perfectly during practice was more than enough, but they decided to add it because they had time to spare and ONCEs earned it since they played by the rules and didn’t spoil the event.
Now: STOP THINKING ISAC IS DANGEROUS. This is something that keeps bothering me every year. NO, IDOL STARS ATHLETIC CHAMPIONSHIP IS NOT A DANGEROUS THING TO DO. OF COURSE they can get hurt, just like everybody else when doing sports. Lately fans are treating idols like precious things that can’t get tired because that means they’re being overworked and need rest… Look, I get it. Being an idol is hard work, but complaining that ISAC should stop being a thing and that they should take better care of the idols participating to the point of spoiling your idol’s participation in hopes of them “not being invited anymore” is just dumb. Most idols join the games because they find it fun. Treating them like kids and demanding MBC treats them like they’re special only spoils their fun. This even made MBC remove futsal from their schedule. Do I need to remind you guys futsal was one of the most anticipated events by male idols to participate in? Same goes to basketball. They’re now considered “too dangerous”.
Futsal was VIXX’s Leo’s sport and it was taken away. BTS’ SUGA gave up on basketball so he could join BTS and (although it hasn’t been official) that’s another event that we’re taking away from him. This year Leo had to move onto archery, SUGA did so last year and now he’s trying the relay event because the one event each of them were looking forward to is gone. Yes, they are not athletes. Yes, they can barely squeeze time to prepare. Yes, they’re trying their best. No, they’re not being forced to participate in an event they don’t want or can’t take part of. No, they’re not being forcefully added to the lineup. All idols take part of any and every event the want to be part of. Remember when they had the high jump event? And (former) EXO’s Tao injured himself? NO ONE forced him to do it, he thought too highly of himself and ended up making a mistake which led him to the injury. He’s not an athlete but practiced really hard and tried his best, it earned him an injury but it was his own decision to join the event. While I agree that there being no news of injured idols is a good thing, you got to realize that you’re taking away one of the very little opportunities athletic idols have to show their talents.
Which leads me to: STOP ASKING FOR ISAC TO BE CANCELLED I don’t think you guys realize what you’re asking for. One thing it asking for safety measures and another is asking for the entire show to be cancelled. As I said before, you’re taking away one of the very little opportunities athletic idols have to show their talents. Rhythm Gymnastics are important for TWICE’s Mina and WJSN’s Cheng Xiao, without ISAC they won’t have another place they’ll get to show this. Asking for the games to be cancelled is asking for one of the very few opportunities idols have to be themselves and enjoy with their friends. Yes, it takes almost all day to film and that’s tiring but most of the time they’re hanging around enjoying themselves. It’s a schedule that takes all day and instead of running around sharing formalities, practicing the same routine over and over again, trying to get in time and act like the perfect idols they are, they get to run around, lay around, laugh and share with their fans.
My main point here is ISAC ISN’T AS BAD AS YOU’RE MAKING IT LOOK. TRY TO ENJOY YOURSELF JUST LIKE HOW YOUR IDOLS ARE TRYING TO HAVE A GOOD TIME.
I see you reblog a lot of Bungou Stray Dogs stuff. Would you recommend it, could you maybe give a brief explanation of what it's about? It looks interesting, and once my semester's over I'm planning on bingeing a few new shows, so I need to build up a list!
I ABSOLUTELY recommend Bungou Stray Dogs! In general, I don’t reblog
anything I *wouldn’t* recommend, but for sure, I think everyone should
watch Bungou Stray Dogs.
It’s a little hard to
explain though, because I feel like the summary doesn’t accurately
convey just how amazing this show is. And I have only watched the anime
and read the first volume of the manga, so I feel like there’s actually a
whole lot more to the story that I’m only beginning to understand and I
might not be the best person to ask for why this show is great. But I
can talk at least in general about some of the things that I really
liked about the series, and I hope that helps!
off, I guess the basic summary is that it’s about rival organizations
consisting of people who all have superpowers. But I also strongly feel
like that summary only conveys a fraction of what is going on in the
story, although for the life of me I can’t really summarize it any
better than that.
Essentially, this show
combines the two great loves of my life: literature and anime. The basic
conceit is that every main character has the name of a famous literary
author and their supernatural ability is named after one of that
author’s major works. I knew that going in and I was very delighted by
that fact but it was essentially lost on me until they started
introducing the Guild who were all named after American/British/Canadian
authors and then my literature-loving heart was ECSTATIC.
mean, I think there’s just something supremely satisfying about
watching a show and thinking, “OF COURSE Nathaniel Hawthorne is a
priest! Of course he is! And of course his ability, The Scarlet Letter,
would have creepy blood related powers.” And then there are moments
when you go, “people ship H P Lovecraft and John Steinbeck?” and think
to yourself how strange your life is that you just that thought.
will say, and I mean this as a sincere compliment, that I feel like it
hits a lot of the same notes as a sports anime. And I feel like BSD fans
might resent the comparison, but as I am a die hard sports anime fan, I
really do mean that as one of the highest compliments I can give.
you know how in sports anime there manages to be this intense, “We will
WIN this, for HONOR. To DEFEAT EVIL. To SAVE THE WORLD” kind of feeling
to the games sometimes? BSD has that feel too, only, you know, they
actually need to “win” in order to defeat evil and save the world.
then there’s the Pure Cinnamon Roll, too good for this world, who just
Tries His Best main character (which, I am a complete sucker for in a
main character, let’s be real here, especially when the pure cinnamon
roll is also a badass, as they often are).
on top of that, it also has what sports anime generally does not:
really complex world building, plot and character relationships. It
also, in my opinion, has the perfect balance between comedic moments and
pain. I mean, spoiler alert for the first three episodes, but the first
two everything starts off fairly lighthearted, but then by the third
episode it’s like, “holy crap, that went to a dark place super fast” but
then it never gets *too* dark.
I’m the kind
of person where if it’s really too much of endless pain, I have a very,
very hard time watching it unless it’s an incredible anime otherwise.
(Tokyo Ghoul and Psycho-Pass come to mind as shows that were very hard
for me to watch but I was still engaged). BSD, I feel, hits that right
balance of– when the action goes down, you have legitimate concerns
that maybe the characters might not make it out, but overall (so far,
later seasons may prove me wrong) BSD never goes to so dark a place that
you feel like your soul is heavier just for the watching.
that is an incredibly hard balance to achieve! A lot of times, when
anime (and tv shows, let’s be honest) shifts from “light” to “dark” it
pretty much just settles on “dark and pain” from here on out. BSD does a
really good job of touching on painful things while still pulling back
and having light moments again, and I really respect that in a story.
like, a million other things I really appreciate about the show, but I
think I’ll leave off there. So, thanks for asking anon-friend! I hope
this helps! It’s definitely worth checking out!
For everyone who plan to delete the game because they were only in for 1 or 2 of the charecters...
So at first i was very sceptical towards doing Yoosungs route. I had just gotten enough hourglasses for Sevens route and I was tempted to drop him. I didn’t. Instead i did 2 routes at the same time. I JUST finished Yoosungs route. I gotta say its SO WORTH GOING TROUGH ALL THE WAY. No matter what a bunch of people say about him - he along with every other character deserve EQUAL AMOUNTS OF LOVE. Sure theres nothing wrong with getting into the game because you saw one character (Zen/Luciel most often) and felt very attracted to them, but DO NOT delete the whole game without giving a shot to the other characters.
Yea they might not be your perfectly good looking or the biggest meme but THEY ALL HAVE BACKSTORIESand their own problems.
Its like they are separate people united by one cause. Nothing will be the same whoevers route you do except the first 4 days. As long as you give them all a shot you will understand and love them all. Dont be extremely sceptical when going into a route of a character who might not be your favourite.
Give them all an equal chance.
Its really worth it. You might not be attracted to a certain character and all of them might have “throw off points” at first ( Yoosungs constant comparing to rika and Luciels denial of his feelings) but if you go trough with it you get such a warm feeling deep down. No matter if Luciel is the “true ending” or not, dont make the other characters seem unimportant because of it.
Rather TRY TO UNDERSTAND THEM ALL.
I really am so tired of seeing posts like “I wont do Yoosungs route because hes so obsessed with Rika” or “I wont do Jaehees route because shes such a bitch in Zens!!!!”. “Im only in for Zen/707 lol im deleting after their stories” “Jumin is too unemotional for me i cant play him at all” Like i get it if you wanna play this game for hot guys thats fine. But if you actually want to ENJOY it, then try to look at the PLOT of the game. Its like any other game. You dont play an RPG because of 1 thing that happens/1 charecter you get to play. You may have started it at first with those thoughts but its rare you end it with them. You get into the story along with it. Its the same for MM. You may find out and start playing it for one charecter but dont forget to pay attention to the story. Or else you wont ever really enjoy the game and you will feel unsatisfied at the end of the day.
If you are thinking of this as your simple Meet and Date Otome game - then go ahead and do so. But honestly if you want to not only play but enjoy this game - then give all characters an equal chance and enjoy the story. Not just visual candy on your screen.
Dont judge the book by its cover and dont judge the Mystic messenger characters by the first 4 days
Since Carmilla is gonna air in three arcs and thus having big blocks of probably around an hour that not everyone can watch live, I feel like it’s a good idea to start tagging spoilers more consistently.
My suggestion is to use a tag like #carmilla spoilers for the first 24-48 hours so everybody who wants to avoid spoilers can watch the arc at their own pace!
Check the tags on these, I found the third one the most uncomfortable to read but overall they’re wonderful. Warning last fic contains a spoiler from I think Lady Midnight, either way, not in the 6 TMI books.
nameless_bliss’s ‘Alec Lightwood Deserves Nice Things series comprising:
“Seriously, Alec, you’ve never wanted to try wearing makeup before?”
What starts as an emergency hickey-covering ends with Alec confronting a lifetime of issues about his appearance. He isn’t quite sure how that happens, but Isabelle has her ways.
“He should take them off. He needs to take them off. He has no right to be wearing these. He’s not allowed to wear these. He’s not allowed to wear something like this. He’s not allowed to have something this pretty.”
Magnus won’t be home for a few hours. Alec wasn’t planning to go snooping through his closet. And he certainly wasn’t planning to try anything on.
“He loves it. Seeing something beautiful, saying ‘I want this,’ and then… getting to have it.”
Alec acquires some new clothing. But he wasn’t really anticipating how much it would matter. How much it would change.
“It’s too much. He was never meant to have all this. Which means that now that he does have it, he doesn’t know what to do with it. How can one person process things that are this… nice?”
Alec gets his nails done. And then, he gets them done again.
