When I bought She of the Mountains, I had no idea what to expect. All I knew was that it had a beautiful cover, illustrations in the same style as the cover, and it sounded like something I had never read before: a love story that somehow incorporates retellings of Hindu mythology. What I found when I started reading was an incredibly beautiful, nuanced portrayal of love and the struggle to accept the most beautiful but often alien parts of ourselves.
