not my favorite pairing at all

Perfect

Pairing: Spencer Reid x fem!Reader

Word Count: 1.6k

Summary: You’re listening to your favorite song and he asks to listen with you. Once he hears the lyrics he realizes just how much he loves you.

(This is my first ever one shot. I hope you like it whoever you are :)

The case you just finished was tough. It involved kids, which never sit well with you or your team. On the plane ride home no one really spoke. You all just sat in your chairs and either slept or did something to occupy your time until you got home.

You were listening to music on your phone when your favorite song came on, Perfect by Ed Sheeran. A smile came upon your face as you listened to the meaningful words and the sweet melody. Spencer, who was sitting next to you, noticed your smile and asked what you were listening to.

“Perfect by Ed Sheeran,” you answered. “It’s one of my favorite songs.”

“I’ve never heard of it,” he said.

“It’s from one of his newer albums. Here, I’ll rewind it so you can listen.” You gave Spencer one of your ear buds and rewound the song back to the beginning.

I’ve found a lover for me
Darling, just dive right in and follow my lead
Well, I found a girl, beautiful and sweet
Oh, I never knew you were the someone waiting for me
‘Cause we were just kids when we fell in love
Not knowing what it was
I will not give you up this time
But darling, just kiss me slow
Your heart is all I own
And in your eyes you’re holding mine

Spencer found himself liking the song. Not only were the words meaningful and beautiful, it reminded him of you. He thought back to when the two of you met. You were his neighbor back when he was in high school. You were his age so after the both of you came out of school you would meet at either his or your house to play. Diana and your parents were friends so that worked out.

He would wish that you were in high school with him, but you weren’t nearly as smart as him so you were still in middle school. He would always come to you when he had a bad day, which was pretty much everyday. But you were there for him when no one else was. The two of you were the best of friends.

Baby, I’m dancing in the dark with you between my arms
Barefoot on the grass listening to our favorite song
When you said you looked a mess
I whispered underneath my breath but you heard it
Darling, you look perfect tonight

At this Spencer turned to you. Your eyes were closed and you were mumbling the words to the song, drumming your fingers on the table in front of you. Spencer immediately thought you were adorable at that moment, catching himself off guard. He never thought of you like this before, at least, he didn’t think so.

But then he remembered when the team had to go on a case in California. You and Spencer, being the younger members of the group, went undercover as a couple to catch an unsub who took his anger out on young couples since his partner left him for a younger woman.

One night you went to a restaurant where one of the requirements of admission was formal attire. When Spencer saw you in that deep purple dress he was awestruck. It was the first time he’s seen you in a dress. You’ve also put on some makeup and let your hair out of your signature pony tail, your dark hair hanging around your shoulders.

“Are you gonna stand there or are we gonna catch our unsub?” You asked as you fixed his tie. He just stood there staring at you, any word he planned on saying stuck in his throat.

“Y-You look amazing,” he finally managed to say on your walk to the restaurant.

“You know, you don’t have to say stuff like that when we’re not around anyone,” you said. “It’s just an act, after all.”

Spencer frowned when you said that. Did you not believe that what he was saying was true? How could you not? He couldn’t question this because you had arrived at the restaurant, but he never forgot that moment.

Well, I found a woman stronger than anyone I know
She shares my dreams, I hope that someday I’ll share her home
I found a lover to carry more than just my secrets
To carry love, to carry children of our own

We are still kids but we’re so in love, fighting against all odds
I know we’ll be alright this time
Darling, just hold my hand
Be my girl, I’ll be your man
I see my future in your eyes

You were the first person Spencer told about his dilaudid problem. He knew that you wouldn’t judge him and he felt the most comfortable telling you out of everyone he could have told. You listened as he poured his heart out to you and you held him when he cried after. You knew that Tobias Hankel used the narcotic on Reid when he was held prisoner and you knew how difficult it was for him to get over that experience.

You tried your best to help Spencer and he appreciated that in ways that you couldn’t understand. All his life no one helped him when he was down and for you to be there without him even asking you to be was almost surprising on his part. He thought that you would just tell him to deal with it like everyone else did, but you didn’t. You were there and he loved you for it.

Baby, I’m dancing in the dark with you between my arms
Barefoot on the grass listening to our favorite song
When I saw you in that dress
Looking so beautiful
I don’t deserve this
Darling, you look perfect tonight

Spencer felt your head rest on his shoulder. He was tempted to wrap his arm around you, but he didn’t want to be teased by his other team members once they saw it. He also didn’t know if you would enjoy the gesture. The two of you weren’t dating. Spencer was just now thinking of you in ways that he’s never had before, but he now couldn’t deny how he felt about you. Instead he just allowed you to move closer to him and make yourself comfortable against him.

He then spotted your hand resting in your lap and took a chance. Reaching over he grabbed your hand and held it in his. He was surprised when you interlaced your fingers with his, but he smiled happily nonetheless. Resting his head on yours, the both of you listened to the last of the song together.

Baby, I’m dancing in the dark with you between my arms
Barefoot on the grass listening to our favorite song
I have faith in what I see
Now I know I have met an angel in person
And she looks perfect
I don’t deserve it
You look perfect tonight

Now I know I have met an angel in person and she looks perfect. Spencer thought of this quote over and over again in his head as a Spotify ad played. You paused it and clicked your phone off.

“Did you like the song?” You asked him, unaware of the thoughts he’s had the few minutes prior. When you looked up you saw that he was already staring at you, an emotion you couldn’t quite pinpoint resting behind his eyes. Spencer knew well what that emotion was, but he dared not say it then.

“Yeah,” he said, his heart rate picking up as you stared back at him. He was in love with you. How had he just now realized this? He could never look at you the same after this. Now all he could think about was how beautiful he thought you were with that strand of hair that never seemed to stay in your pony tail and the small freckles that dotted your nose. They were more prominent now because he was closer to your face. “I did.”

“I’m glad you did,” you said. He didn’t say anything right away. “What are you staring at?” You asked. He shook his head.

“Nothing,” he lied. You smiled then. You didn’t know how much that smile made him fall even harder for you.

“You’re so weird,” you said, making him laugh lightly. “But that’s what makes you you.” You then laid your head back on his shoulder and stared at your hand, it still wrapped in his on your lap. “Is it okay if I used your arm as a pillow?”

“Oh, yes, that’s fine,” he said. He continued to stare down at you, your head on his shoulder, his hand holding tightly around yours, your eyes closed as you fell asleep. He was at the most peace he’s ever been and it’s all because of you. “It’s perfect.”

Sitting back in his seat Spencer relaxed, a content smile on his face as sleep took over him.

—EXTENDED ENDING—

“Oh my goodness, they are so cute together,” Penelope commented as Derek showed them the picture he took of them before the got off the plane. “I call being the godmother of their children.”

“You’re already a godmother, let someone else have a turn,” JJ complained as she nudged the tech analyst.

“If I’m not the maid of honor someone’s getting hurt,” said Emily. Hitch and Rossi didn’t comment, but neither of them could hide their smiles at the picture of their genius doctor and their special agent cuddling on the plane.

“What are you guys looking at?” You asked as you and Spencer walked up to them.

“Nothing,” they all said as they dispersed towards their proper stations, all of them giving the two clueless agents knowing looks.

“What was that all about?” Spencer asked. You shrugged and went back to filing your reports.

Playing around tonight, thought some of you might like to see some of the pix.

I’m not a wildly popular Simblr, but I do have some outstandingly generous and creative mutuals. :) This is a big part of what keeps me on Tumblr.

Testing yet another moon from a set of 6 experimental alien moons that @transcendentcacophony was kind enough to make for me.

This time, a mostly blue one paired with an experimental alien sky mod by @brntwaffles ..this was the first of two made for alien world projects still in progress.

World is one of my favorites by @risastorm: Lunestia.

Before I had a Simblr I had my entire huge alien dynasty all living here. I played this world for a long time.

I might someday go back to this planet..

I think I have not yet found the ideal world/sky/plant combo for this particular moon even  tho this particular shot, at this exact moment, looks ok.

Moons will be shared at some point, as the one done for Saturenorn was..still sorting which ones I’m using for what projects.

Between various people I have had requests to answer ALL of the intimate fic asks. @chryselephantinechaos and @angst-wizard, shoutout for being the only ask-ers to go for it off anon. Here goes nothing!

1. what’s your all-time favorite fic? why? could we get a line or two from it?

WHY WOULD YOU ASK THIS. I can’t answer this because I have favorites by fandom, by pairing, by trope…at the end of the day, though, I’ll go for the one that I go back to over and over: All Things Shining, by Askance and standbyme. THE greatest DeanCas fic I have ever read. (Askance is also responsible for my second-favorite DeanCas fic, Every Living Thing.) If I ever say something about “a fish and a star” I’m referencing this fic. It is an effortless blending of mythology and fantasy and the deep dark waters of the river, and when I read it I get an absolute sense of peace that no other piece of literature has ever given me.

“He read. He read leaf after leaf, and the great thing thrashed and writhed in his chest, crowding in his throat, trembling with the hammering of his heart. For they were here—they were here—they were stars and fish, they were brothers and dust, they were kings, and kingfishers, nets and rivers, they were men.

They were men.”

2. what’s your go-to lazy sunday morning fic–the story you like to read under fluffy covers with 11 AM sunshine slanting through the windows?

If I ever had a morning like that–then it would be A Study in Pining and Blackberry Jam, by honeybun, who is also @weepingstar on tumblr. I provide here a quote as well because it’s my favorite paragraph ever:

“‘I hate when you wear that jumper.’

Quickly followed by -

‘I love you.’

Graves picks up his coffee, tries to recover by saying -

‘Fuck.’”

That’s our emotionally constipated man right there. I love him.

3. which trope makes your heart go absolutely weak at the knees?

Oh, talk to me about domesticity! Like… @pyxyltheamoeba has me writing that Bagginshield coffeeshop AU, right? And it’s k i l l i n g me because it’s so fucking domestic I could CRY. I mean. There’s discussion of DOILIES and it makes me all wibbly because doilies, goddammit, doilies. I read a DeanCas once about painting a fucking room and had to hide under a pillow, it was so delightful. Do not get me started on Pie Without Plot. I can’t DEAL with Percival/Credence and domesticity, it causes me to have EMOTIONS. Anything to do with Diana and mundane life just kind of ends me in the best possible way.

DOMESTICITY.

4. what trope are you most embarrassed to like?

I like College AUs. A lot. An embarrassing amount, a lot.

5. what’s your favorite gross guilty-pleasure pairing?

I don’t have one? In the sense that if I decided that I liked a pairing I would have absolutely ZERO guilt about it. Write and let write, ship and let ship, don’t like don’t read–I LIVE by these things.

If you’re going by “problematic” pairings, though, then definitely my entire thing with Percival/Credence. Like. I’m firmly in the camp of “smoke son is 21+”, and I know that there are plenty of people who estimate Percival’s age in his mid-thirties as opposed to my call of early forties, but no matter HOW you slice the ages, there’s a certain dynamic there. And that’s without getting into the “how much of the movie was Real Graves vs. Grindelgraves” and the “does it MATTER if it was” and all that Discourse-y jazz.

6. is there a setting or time in your life that you strongly associate with reading a certain fic? (ex: reading star wars slash on a specific vacation)

Yep. Maximum Ride, during the summer of 2009. (It was never quite the same, later.) We were living in an apartment in Texas at the time, right before my dad went overseas for the first time, after having just moved out of our former location. I lost track of all my friends and…pretty much lived on Maximum Ride, exclusively and entirely.

There were three fics (although I probably read half the FF.N archive on this series, honestly) that hit me right then. Of course, Diary of a Lovesick Mutant. The Wings of Wrath, which, wow, things to go back to, that is one hell of a long fic I forgot what the wordcount was…suddenly I feel inadequate with a better mirror. And then Icaria, because I am and always will be Iggy’s biggest fan, and…holy fucking shit it updated in February. As in THIS FEBRUARY. AS IN WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK ARE YOU KIDDING ME I MIGHT FINALLY GET CLOSURE. *dives facefirst back into the MR archive*

7. what image or place do you remember from a fic most vividly? what has left a lasting impression on you?

Huge toss-up. There are four: anything from shoreline, Angharad in Revenant from @le-temps-viendra36‘s Our Words series, Aaron’s visions from it feels more like a memory, and the images of the road in a dying world from The First and the Last. I like the eerie, the melancholy, and the apocalyptic, and these four pretty much fit my bill.

8. have you ever had a shameful experience involving fic? what happened?

No. I don’t believe in being shamed for fandom and I will fight people who try to shame others for liking fandom.

9. if you could meet your favorite author irl, would you? what would you say to them?

I REFUSE TO PLAY FAVORITES, I LOVE ALL MY FIC AUTHOR FRIENDS TO PIECES. And yes, I would meet a favorite author irl, and here’s what I’d say: “I love you and I love that you write fic the way you do. You’ve given me bravery in the face of overwhelmingly awful odds, you’ve brought me laughter on days when I thought I was never going to smile again, and you’ve reminded me that staying alive is worth it. And you did it with words on a page, playing in the corner of someone else’s sandbox. You DID make a difference, you DO matter, and all your hard work is worth it. Never, ever, EVER stop writing.” (In which I’m a maudlin pile of Feelings. Again.)

10. name a fic that you’ve read more than once. or maybe five times. or ten.

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Only one? Well. Let’s break up the Angst and Hurt/Comfort on this ask meme with some COMEDY. If you’re an Alien fan, take a shot at Killing Elvis, which is the single fucking funniest fic I maybe ever read, and it’s EPISTOLARY. In essence: a team of Weyland-Yutani scientists who’ve been studying a live Xenomorph held by the Company are asked to euthanize it. And, as things always do in the Alien franchise, shit hits the fan REALLY FAST.

11. what fic do you wish you had written?

Like. Okay. I know that I wrote I’ll Be You and You Be Me, which is one of the top fics for the very small fandom for SOMA, and might be the fic I’m most proud of ever writing (yes, more than a better mirror, unlike some of my stuff it continues to hold up WELL after it was written, it’s a fic ahead of its time in terms of my styel) but…good heavens I wish I’d been the one to write Those Who Remain Behind. Mine is shivery at the end, but that fic is fucking tragic and gorgeous the whole way down.

12. tell me a short story about how fanfiction has intersected with your life.

Look. I…can I just link you to a better mirror chapter 52, first? Because that might satisfy this question.

Fanfiction gives me an out. It gives me a chance to take superhumans and bring them down to earth. Maybe more importantly, it gives me the chance to take myself and stand up in the sky by them. I use it–and have always used it–as a method of self-understanding. More than most “original” literature, to be honest. I think fanfic, both read and written, is a good way to get outside myself and explore what COULD BE. And that’s been a paradigm shift, recognizing what I COULD BE through the process of throwing “maybe” and “should be” and “could be” at a piece of media. I don’t know if this is coherent, but it’s what I’ve got.

Friendship Comes First:  What (Good) Fanfiction Can Teach Us About the Romantic Subplot.

I love all forms of storytelling:  television, books, movies, you name it.  As long as it’s quality, its ripe for the picking.

It’s so easy for me to become engrossed in the lives and psychologies of fictitious characters, to care for them as though they’re people I really know.  Which, on some metaphysical level, I suppose is true, but that’s a topic for another essay.

However, in the midst of all my possibly Asperger’s-fueled hyper-fixation and nerdery, there’s one inevitable aspect of seemingly every plot to which I will almost always role my eyes and click the fast-forward button:  the goddamned romantic subplot.

So many times have I seen the exact same variation of romantic love between fifty homogeneous couples, and each time, I failed to see the appeal:  in books, the smirking, obnoxious male love interest will woo the object of his desire through flagrant disrespect, the same toned bodies will copulate furiously on my television screens (typically at the exact same moment my parents or small siblings will walk into the room), the same vapid, flirtatious stares and generic dialogue will be exchanged.

But where’s the basis for it?  Yes, these people are stressed to be attracted to one another to the point of obnoxiousness, but do they even like each other as individuals?  Are they even friends?  Is there any three-dimensionality to their relationship besides sizing each other up and deciding to bump uglies?

Simply and also sadly, the answer is very rarely.  And so, it seemed to me that romance was not my cup of tea, both in the fictitious world and out of it.  Or so it seemed.

Because it was then, at approximately seventeen, that I discovered a remarkable phenomenon that would change my life forever:  fanfiction.

Never before had I been so enraptured in the relationships of fictional characters, and I was baffled as to why.  Yes, I’ve read a tremendous deal of fanfiction that is, in fact, book quality, but as an avid bibliophile, I was perplexed as to why I’d never been so captivated by the romantic endeavors of a published author as I was by the passion-projects of writers not much older than I was.

After a lot of time, careful consideration, and the illuminating words of some of my fellow bloggers, however, I believe I can finally put words as to why.

1.  Give your characters a narrative purpose (besides being The Love Interest.)

Do you ever wonder what inspires Supernatural fans to tirelessly churn out fics about their favorite human-on-angel pairing?  I have, and this is someone who’s a proud proponent of the stuff.

The sheer magnitude of free literature available, constantly repositing the pair in all manor of situations and walks of life, is absolutely baffling, and undeniably impressive.  Indeed, some of the best works of romantic literature – and yes, I do consider fanfiction to be a form of literature – I have ever come across were starring none other than this specific pairing:  from the infamous Twist and Shout (which I don’t recommend if you ever want to listen to Elvis Presley music, visit a beach, or feel joy ever again) to the charming Have Love, Will Travel (probably my personal favorite), some truly beautiful love stories have blossomed from a pairing that has never even been confirmed onscreen to have romantic connotations.

Perhaps just as baffling is the other end of the spectrum:  Lisa Braeden.  Lisa, for those unfamiliar, is basically posited as the love of Dean’s life, with whom he lived for a year before being forced to give up his dream of a family life and return to full-time demon busting.  They’ve canonically kissed, had sex, shared a bed, and everything typically associated with an onscreen couple.

Yet comparatively no fanworks exist about them.  When Lisa does appear in a fic, she is usual Castiel’s rival for Dean’s affections, or simply a hapless bystander.

Why is this?  Well, a disillusioned observer might point to straight women’s apparent predilection towards fetishizing male homosexuality (I, for the record, am not straight myself;  I’m a proud bisexual who, thus far, has only dated women.)  I’m inclined to retort that this isn’t giving female fans nearly enough credit.

For starters, remove all context from each relationship and examine them with a critical eye:  on the one hand, you have Castiel, Dean’s angelic savior from forty years in perdition.  Castiel is clearly fascinated with Dean, appearing in his bedroom, somewhat suggestively (advertently or otherwise) inquiring about his dreams, watching him sleep, routinely invading his personal space, and ultimately rebelling against heaven in accordance with Dean’s wishes.

On the other hand, you have Lisa, a perfectly nice character who’s introduced as “the bendiest weekend of (Dean’s) life” and…well, that’s about it.  She’s later shown as a sort of amalgamation of Dean’s subconscious desire for a mother figure and normal life, but she, as a character, remains somewhat underdeveloped and hollow.

You can’t expect fans to hold the two relationships to the same caliber and then cry internalized misogyny and fetishization of gay and bisexual men when they don’t.

The fact of the matter is, onscreen “friendships” are typically much more developed, much more three-dimensional, and much more ideal of what a truly epic romantic plot should be.  A character with a clear place in the narrative and three dimensional characterization all their own will almost always be more charismatic than a character who’s introduced as exclusively The Love Interest.

This is not to say that what makes fanfiction so great is that it sexualizes or romanticizes friendship.  In fact, I’m inclined to believe it’s the other way around.

Which brings me to my next point…

2.  Make sure your characters are friends.

It’s a romance for the ages.  A love like no other.  They’re soulmates, yin and yang, a match made in the stars.

But do they enjoy each other’s company?  Laugh at each other’s jokes?  Take part in each other’s interests?  Are they even friends?

The sad fact of the matter is, romance and erotica are, as a whole, starved for values of friendship and camaraderie.

This is something I realized only after my love of fanfiction took root, when I tried to return to my normal sources of adult entertainment (romance, erotica, and porn) and found them, by comparison, almost bafflingly lacking in warmth and camaraderie.

What I think makes fanfiction so addictive is the fact that it’s built upon the established relationships of two or more characters (the Onceler and company notwithstanding) who, typically, care for one another as friends and compatriots.

Look at some of the internet’s favorite pairings:  Dean Winchester and Castiel remain a classic.  Bucky Barnes and Steve Rogers are always crowd-pleasers.  Kara Denvers and Lena Luthor are seeing a rise in popularity.  We all know Sherlock has somewhat fallen from grace, but the union of its two main characters still retains a devoted following.

This is no accident:  despite lacking onscreen confirmation, these characters have proven themselves to care for one another as more than objects of their sexual desire.  They’re friends, with relationships based in loyalty and warmth that are, unfortunately, sorely lacking in typical fictional romances.

Once you get a taste of this brand of friendship-infused romance, in fanfiction or otherwise, it’s hard to go back.

This isn’t just limited to quote-unquote “fanon” couples, either:  couples such as Mulder and Scully, Bones and Booth, Yuuri and Victor, and Ladybug and Chat Noir can all attribute their popularity to this strong basis in friendship, camaraderie, and mutual respect.

This is also the leading cause as to why the formerly booming 50 Shades franchise, and other arguably sexist, abusive dynamics, are struggling at the box office.

Which reminds me…

3.  Make sure your characters are equals.

Unless you’re writing a Lolita-esque social commentary, it’s probably your best bet to keep your characters on fairly equal ground.

I mean this in every sense of the word, too:  I have a difficult time getting invested in a romance when there’s a pretty blatant power imbalance, which oftentimes occurs due to the implicit sexism of the entertainment industry.

Disproportionately young actresses are assigned as love interests to much older men, such as Emma Watson’s twenty-something-year-old character lusting over a man almost twenty years her senior in Irrational Man.

Physically mediocre or average-looking male characters are frequently pared with stunningly beautiful women who like them because they’re “nice,” fueling the existing mentality of all self-proclaimed “nice guys” who think society owes them a hot girl.

Furthermore, @popculturedetective just released an amazing video explaining the “Born Sexy Yesterday” trope, in which hopelessly naive, beautiful women are seen swooning over their more savvy male lovers.  (Found here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=0thpEyEwi80)

I love Splash and the Fifth Element as much as anybody, but both films incorporate all these tropes in ample proportions, and it’s frankly ridiculous. (On the topic of Splash, however, I’m greatly looking forward to a subversion of this trope in its remake, starring Channing Tatum as the titular merman and Julianne Belle as his human love interest.)

On the other hand, you have fanfiction.  I’ve read numerous essays professing that fanfiction is becoming increasingly popular due to the fact that same-sex relationships tend to be implicitly devoid of these sex-based imbalances, and I’m inclined to agree.

However, I’ve read others stating that male-male pairings tend to be so popular because male characters are typically more well-developed by writers, making it perfectly understandable that fans would be more invested in a possible romance between two characters of equal multidimensionality (see point 1) than one that is sorrowfully underdeveloped.  I’m inclined to think that this theory is even more on point.

Because look at some of the successful onscreen relationships I listed prior:  we root for Bones and Booth’s inevitable union the same way we swoon over slowburn fanfiction, delighting in Mulder and Scully’s banter and craving their interaction.

These are, in my opinion, some examples of straight couples done right, because they’re portrayed as friends (see the previous point), and just as importantly, as equals.

Last, but certainly not least, the male characters in both pairings are depicted as having nothing but respect for their female compatriots, depending on their intellectual know how and not being ashamed to say so.

A more contemporary example that gets this wrong?  Well, not to offend any fans of the pairing, but Mon-El and Kara, a la Supergirl.  Mon-El was, at the beginnings of his arc, consistently disrespectful towards Kara, putting her down and insulting her in the very same episodes in which her female compatriot – Lena Luthor – is shown vocally admiring and praising her.

Mon-El has since improved on his behavior, but the damage is done:  I still have a difficult time seeing him as a likeable character, much less a suitable love interest for my beloved Kara.

These are just a few recommendations, based on the ways in which my somewhat obsessive love of transformative literature (i.e. good fanfiction) have helped me as a writer and helped me view the implicit problems with mainstream romance with a more discerning and critical eye.

Here, I could provide a counterpoint with the recurring problems I’ve noticed in fanfiction, or I could go into some recomendations for writing explicitly gay and lesbian relationships.  Both of these, however, are topics worthy of another essay.

Disclaimer:  I am assuming that any and all readers are trying for an enjoyable, healthy romantic subplot with equally charismatic, consenting, and likable characters.  Dysfunctionality can be just as interesting from a literary standpoint, but again, this is a topic for another essay.

There will be essays like this published at least once every other week, so be sure to follow my blog and stay tuned for future writing advice and observations!

So I’m just saying, there are a lot of supercorp fics out there but tbh a lot of them I’m just like. Eh. About.

So here’s a list of my favorite supercorp authors and/or their fics—10/10 would recommend, and sure I may have only mentioned one fic, but if they’re on this list they’re quality all around and they’re good for all the fics (the ones I mention are just personally my fave). This will be a link to their ao3 page btw not their tumblr (and again–this is STRICTLY about supercorp fic, although if they do have other pairings lol i’ve read them they’re also good but then i’d need a longer list)

Pairing: Jughead x Reader

Description: After his junior year, Jughead goes to New York for a writing internship.

Warnings: some swearing, you might cry

A/N: umm first of all thank you for 7000 followers?? holy crap. anywho wowowow this is by far the longest thing I’ve ever written. It’s based off of the song “Ever Since New York” from Harry Styles’s album (which I love btw).  This is probably my favorite thing I’ve ever written tbh. Hope you all enjoy!

Tell me something, tell me something
You don’t know nothing, just pretend you do

After years of saving the money he earned at the Twilight Drive-In and other odd jobs, Jughead finally had enough to buy a plane ticket to New York.  He had discovered a writing internship there that he knew he had to do. It didn’t take much effort to convince his dad to allow him to go; in fact, FP even offered to pitch in some money. Jughead refused, claiming that he wanted to do this all on his own.  He wanted to deserve this internship as much as possible.

He started talking to Veronica frequently, asking her about her time in New York.  She, of course, gladly answered all of Jughead’s questions.  She was glad to finally bond with her boyfriend’s best friend.

Jughead also pestered Betty with questions, seeing as she had done an internship similar to his two summers ago.  It was a bit awkward at first, since the two of them used to date.  However, they both got over their awkwardness for the sake of preparing Jughead for his internship.

“It’s really amazing,” Betty told him.  “It’s a great experience, and you’ll learn so much.”

“What are other people like?” Jughead inquired.  “Are they pricks?”

“Sometimes,” Betty laughed. “It depends.  Do you know how many other people are participating in the internship?”

“Just one,” he answered, shrugging.  “I don’t know who it is though.”

“Well, if they’re a jerk then that’s gonna suck,” she offered.  “But if they’re nice, they may become one of the closest friends you’ll ever have.”

“Really?”

“Yeah,” Betty replied and nodded.  “You’re gonna spend all summer with this other person.  They’re either gonna drive you up the wall or become your new best friend.”

I need something, tell me something new
Choose your words, ‘cause there’s no antidote
For this curse, oh, what’s it waiting for?
Must this hurt you just before you go?

“Have fun in New York, Jug.” FP patted his son on the back as they stood at the airport gate.  Betty, Veronica, Archie, Fred Andrews, and Kevin stood behind FP, all wearing supportive smiles.  Jughead glanced around at the group who followed him to the airport, filled with admiration of his friends and family.

“Thank you guys,” he said, fighting back a giant grin.  “You didn’t all have to come, though.”

“Of course we did,” Fred Andrews argued.  “We’re not gonna see you all summer, Jughead.  We have to give you a proper send-off.”

“Well, proper send-off achieved,” Jughead laughed.  He watched as others in the line began to move.  “I guess I should go now.  Thanks for this.  See you all in August.”  As he turned on his heel and walked away, the group of six gleefully waved at Jughead’s retreating figure.

“You aren’t worried about Jughead all alone in a giant city?” Fred asked FP as they exited the airport.

“Nah,” FP responded, waving his hand.  “He’s a smart kid, he’ll find his way.”

Oh, tell me something I don’t already know
Oh, tell me something I don’t already know

“Hi, I’m Jughead Jones,” he introduced himself at the front desk.  “I’m here for the writing internship.”

The lady sitting behind the desk glanced up at Jughead.  “Ah, yes! We’ve been expecting you, Mr. Jones!” she exclaimed, standing from her chair.

“Oh, am I late?” Jughead inquired.

The lady shook her head. “Oh no, not at all.  Your counterpart just got here early, so we’ve been waiting for you to start.”

“My counterpart?”

“Miss (Y/N) (Y/L/N),” she gestured to a girl sitting on a chair against the wall, flipping through a magazine.  The girl perked up when she heard her name, and saw Jughead and the receptionist staring at her.

“Is this him?” (Y/N) questioned, standing up and setting the magazine down.  Jughead noticed it was a TIME magazine.

“Yes,” the receptionist answered.  “(Y/N), this is Jughead Jones.”  Jughead stuck his hand out to shake, and (Y/N) firmly shook his hand.

“I hope you’re not an asshole,” she blatantly said as they released hands, “because we’re gonna be stuck with each other all summer.”

“I was thinking the same thing about you,” he quipped.

(Y/N) raised her eyebrow in interest.  “Quick-witted,” she noted with a smirk forming on her face.  “I like it.”

“You better,” Jughead fired back, biting back a grin.  “Like you said, we’ll be around each other all summer.”

“If we were together any longer, I’d worry about you falling in love with me,” she jokingly warned. “So be careful.”

Brooklyn saw me, empty at the news
There’s no water inside this swimming pool

“When’d you get here?” (Y/N) asked as she and Jughead exited the building, their first day of the internship finished.

“Two days ago,” Jughead answered with his hands in his pockets.  “What about you?”

“Last week.”  Her pace was quick, and she seemed determined to get somewhere.  “Are you hungry?  Because I’m starving.”

“I would love some food,” Jughead almost moaned at the thought of food.  He was only able to scarf down a small lunch in the midst of the business.

“I know this great burger place,” (Y/N) explained as she led the way to the restaurant.  “It’ll make every other burger you’ve ever eaten seem like a pile of shit on a bun.”

“I doubt that,” Jughead scoffed.  “There’s a diner where I’m from that makes the best burgers you’ll ever eat.”

“Where are you from?”

“Riverdale,” he said. “Pop’s diner, that’s what it’s called. If you ever find yourself in Riverdale, stop by Pop’s.  Trust me, you’ll thank me.”

“Well we’re not in Riverdale right now, Jughead Jones,” (Y/N) reminded him.  “So you should thank your lucky stars that I am your counterpart, because I’ve been here for the past week. You know what I’ve been doing for that week?  Exploring, Jones.  I have tried and evaluated twenty-one restaurants, and I know where to go for whatever you’re craving.”

“What if I’m craving Korean food?” he quizzed.

“32nd street, there’s a great Korean grill,” she immediately responded.

“Ethiopian?”

“There’s a quaint little place on 135th street.”

“What if I want to get wasted?” Jughead smirked.

“There’s a club a couple of blocks away with shitty security,” (Y/N) answered with a smirk equally as wide.  “Or maybe I was just an exception, seeing as how attractive I am.”

“I think you overestimate yourself,” he scoffed, playfully rolling his eyes.

(Y/N) lightly slapped him on the arm.  “I do not!” she retaliated.

“Whatever, keep lying to yourself.”  Jughead quickened his pace, leaving (Y/N) behind him.

“Hey!” she called out, rushing to catch up to him.  “You better not leave me!  You don’t even know where you’re going.”

“You’re still here,” he noted, casually wrapping his arm around her shoulders.  “Lead the way, (Y/N).”

Almost over, had enough from you
And I’ve been praying, I never did before

“God, this food sucks,” (Y/N) whispered, gesturing towards the plates of Japanese food sitting in front of her and Jughead.  “That place we ate at last week was so much better.”

“True,” Jughead agreed with a mouthful of food.  “But this place is cheaper.”

“Rightfully so!” she exclaimed, jabbing at her tofu with a chopstick.  Jughead silently laughed and shook his head, continuing to eat his fried rice.  He watched as (Y/N) picked at her dish, examining each aspect of the meal.

It had been three weeks since their internship had begun, and Jughead and (Y/N) quickly became close friends.  They bonded over the overwhelming amount of work at their internship and their food-discovering adventures.  Jughead didn’t know how he would’ve survived an entire summer in New York without (Y/N) by his side.  They even stayed at the same hotel, so during a sleepless night, one would wake the other and stay up all night talking.  On those nights, they would drink hot chocolate.

“I’ve got the check tonight, Jug,” (Y/N) said, snapping Jughead out of his thoughts as she took the bill from the waitress.  Jughead furiously shook his head.

“No, (Y/N), you got dinner yesterday,” he protested, reaching out towards the bill.  “I’ll cover it tonight.”

“You got lunch!” she exasperatedly exclaimed.  “I can handle it.  Dinner wasn’t even expensive last night or tonight.”

Jughead huffed as the waitress returned and took (Y/N)’s money.  “Fine,” he pouted, “but we’re gonna go out for desert, and I’m paying for it.”

“Fine.”

“Ice cream?” Jughead offered, standing from his chair.  (Y/N) followed suit, and they exited the diner.  She slowly grabbed his hand, intertwining their fingers.

“I’m feeling frozen yogurt tonight,” she countered his offer, grinning up at him.

“What’s the difference?” Jughead playfully scoffed, trying not to blush at their hand-holding.  They had started doing it last week after he almost lost (Y/N) in a giant mass of people.

“I swear to God, Jug, you said the same thing last week, and I explicitly explained it to you.”  (Y/N) rolled her eyes.  “Ice cream is-”

“Made with cream, whereas frozen yogurt is a yogurt-based treat,” Jughead quoted what (Y/N) had told him last week.

“I knew you paid attention to me.”

Understand I’m talking to the walls
I’ve been praying ever since New York

In the middle of the night, the phone started ringing.  Jughead, still half-asleep, answered it with his eyes remaining shut.

“You can come over,” he said, not waiting for the caller to initiate the conversation.

“Okay,” (Y/N)’s quiet voice responded, and she hung up.  A few moments later, a soft knock resonated through Jughead’s hotel room.  He rolled off of his bed, throwing on a t-shirt, and opened the door.  (Y/N) stood in the doorway, slightly shaking.

“You cold?” Jughead murmured.  (Y/N) wordlessly nodded.  He gently grabbed her arm and led her inside, shutting the door behind them.  He stripped the blanket off from his bed and draped it over her shoulders, wrapping (Y/N) in the soft white material.  (Y/N) smiled up at him.

“Why do you put up with me?” she asked, sitting on his bed.  Jughead mimicked her actions and sat next to her.

“What do you mean?” he questioned, furrowing his eyebrows.

“How are you not sick of me?” she elaborated.  “I mean, we’ve been constantly hanging out for, what, a month and a half now?  You know if I’m annoying you, you can just tell me. I’ll back off.”

“Why would you annoy me?” he asked, slowly wrapping his arms around her waist and pulled her into his lap. “You’re the best part about this internship.”

“You’re full of shit.”

“I’m not,” Jughead lightly laughed, slightly nudging her.  “I’m serious, (Y/N).  Before I came, I was asking my friend Betty about internships.  She did one two years ago, so she knew what she was talking about. She told me that the people I’ll meet during this internship will either drive me up the wall or become one of my closest friends.”

“So I haven’t driven you up the wall?” (Y/N) inquired with a tentative smile.

“Of course not,” Jughead laughed loudly this time.  A moment of silence ensued, both (Y/N) and Jughead overwhelmed by sleepiness.

“Is Betty your girlfriend?” (Y/N) broke the silence, staring up at Jughead.

“No,” he muttered, brushing a strand of hair out of her face.  “She was,” he admitted, “but not anymore.”

“What happened?”

“Nothing bad,” he shrugged. “Sometimes things just don’t work out, you know?”

“Yeah,” (Y/N) muttered. “I had a boyfriend.”

“Really?  That’s shocking.”

“Shut up!” she whined, elbowing him.  “Yes, I had a boyfriend.  He was actually a total dickhead.”

“How?” Jughead asked, growing concerned.

(Y/N) looked up at him and giggled.  “Oh, you’re worried,” she cooed, placing a hand on his chin.  Jughead swatted it away.

“Sue me,” he retorted, but then grew serious.  “But really, what happened?”

“Nothing bad,” she replied, facing away from Jughead.  “We were dating for a while, and… I don’t know.  He never really supported me in anything.  He wasn’t nice to any of my friends, and I didn’t notice for so long because I was so fucking smitten.  Eventually it hit me one day, and I realized that he was horrible.  So, naturally, I dumped him.”

“As one does,” Jughead nodded, nonchalantly tracing patterns on (Y/N)’s right arm with his thumb.

(Y/N) slumped and sighed. “What time is it?”

Jughead glanced at the clock with its blaring, bright red numbers.  “Three o’clock.”

“Jesus,” she muttered, rubbing her eyes.  “I should… I should get back to my room.”  She jumped off the bed and trekked towards the door, her bare feet dragging on the carpet.

“Wait,” Jughead commanded, grabbing her arm.  “Don’t go, it’s too late.”

“You say that as if I have to walk across New York City,” (Y/N) joked.  “It’s fine, Jug, my room is down the hall.  I’m not gonna get mugged.”

“No, but you may fall over before you reach your room,” he countered with a lighthearted smirk. “Just stay here tonight, okay?” (Y/N), too tired to argue, needed no more convincing as she turned around and climbed into Jughead’s bed. He laid down, patting the space next to him.  (Y/N) tentatively settled next to him, slowly resting her head on the neighboring pillow. “You can get closer than that, you know,” he told her, amused by her unusually timid nature.  She hesitantly scooted closer to him, until she was near enough for Jughead to wrap his arms around her waist and pull her against his chest.  “That’s better,” he whispered into her hair.  She draped one arm around his torso, the other arm tucked under their now-shared pillow.

“Night, Jug,” she murmured, eyes already closed.  He smiled at her.

“Goodnight, (Y/N).”

Oh, tell me something I don’t already know
Oh, tell me something I don’t already know
Oh, tell me something I don’t already know
Oh, tell me something I don’t already know

“Oh, Jughead, how is it?” Betty eagerly asked, her face displayed on his laptop screen.

“It’s been great,” Jughead answered.

“What restaurants have you tried?” Veronica questioned from her spot next to Betty.

“A bunch,” he vaguely replied.  “(Y/N) is attempting to try every restaurant in New York City.  I think it’s impossible, but she’s determined.”

“Who is (Y/N)?” Archie inquired, popping his head into the camera’s view.

Jughead laughed, “Where do I begin?  She’s my ‘counterpart’ for the internship.  We’ve become very close.”

“I told you,” Betty grinned. Jughead nodded.

“You were right,” he admitted.  “Right when I met her, I… I don’t know, it just felt like something clicked between us. We’re inseparable.”  Betty’s expression slightly darkened, but Jughead waved it off as a bit off jealousy.

“Ah, you’ve got it bad, bro,” Archie laughed at his best friend.  Jughead rolled his eyes.

“It’s not like that, Arch,” he explained.  “It’s like Betty said, you grow really close to people when you spend so much time together.”

“But you don’t blush when you talk about them,” Veronica noted, pointing out Jughead’s dusty pink cheeks.

“You’re imagining things,” Jughead scoffed.  Betty, Archie, and Veronica shared a knowing glance.

“If you say so,” Veronica sing-songed.  Before Jughead could respond, there was a knock on his door.  A smile subconsciously grew on his face.

“Speaking of (Y/N),” he said, standing up and walking towards the door.  He opened it, and, as expected, (Y/N) stood there.

“Are we going or not, Jug?” she pressed, grabbing his hand.  “I told you the line for the rainbow bagels is super long.  I don’t want to spend all of Saturday waiting for one, even though they’re so fucking pretty.”

“I’m video chatting with my friends right now,” Jughead told her, gesturing towards his open laptop. “Can you wait like five more minutes?”

“Fine,” (Y/N) huffed, crossing her arms.  She stepped into his room, allowing him to close the door behind her.  She followed him as he sat back down in front of his laptop, resting her chin on his shoulder as she peered at the screen. “These are your friends?”

“Yeah,” he confirmed. “That’s Archie,” he gestured towards the redhead, “the blonde one is Betty, and that one is Veronica.”  (Y/N) smiled at Jughead’s Riverdale friends.

“You must be (Y/N),” Betty smiled.  “Jughead was just talking about you.”

“Of course he was,” (Y/N) joked, nudging his arm.  Jughead playfully shoved her back.

“So how’s it been? Three months with the infamous Jughead Jones?” Veronica inquired with a smirk dancing on her lips.

“Well it hasn’t been three months quite yet,” (Y/N) corrected her.  “I’ve only gotta deal with this guy for two more weeks.” Jughead’s face slightly deflated as this realization hit him.  “Let me tell you, he’s quite the handful.”

“We know,” Archie laughed. Jughead opened his mouth to say something, but (Y/N) interrupted him.

“Shit, I left my phone in my room!” she exclaimed, standing up.  “I’ll be right back, Jug.”  She turned and faced the laptop.  “It was great talking to you guys.  I hope we can meet sometime!”  She quickly exited Jughead’s room.  Immediately, Veronica, Archie, and Betty bombarded him about (Y/N)

“She’s perfect,” Veronica cooed.  “She’s actually flawless, Jughead.”

“You lucked out, bro,” Archie told him.  “She’s a keeper.”

“She’s absolutely amazing, Jughead,” Betty smiled.  Jughead grinned and shook his head.

“You guys, I told you-”

“Don’t even go there,” Veronica interrupted him.  “That girl is absolutely perfect for you.  The way you two look at each other is… it seems like it’s from a fairytale. You two are soulmates, Jughead.

“She does seem great, Jug,” Archie agreed with her.  “I mean, I’ve never seen you like that with anyone.  No offense, Betty.”

“None taken, Archie,” she waved his comment off.  “They’re right though, Jug.  You never looked at me the way you look at (Y/N).”  Jughead couldn’t think of a clever retort.  “But be careful, Jughead.  Like (Y/N) said earlier, you two only have two more weeks together. If you haven’t done anything up to this point, you might want to consider whether or not it’s worth it to start something now.  Just ask yourself, is it worth the heartbreak that’ll happen when you have to leave her?” She pursed her lips as she watched Jughead’s face darken on her screen.

“Thanks guys,” he said halfheartedly.  “Really, thank you.  I’ll see you all in two weeks.”

Tell me something, tell me something
You don’t know nothing, just pretend you do
Tell me something just before you go

“Our last day!” (Y/N) exclaimed, prancing into Jughead’s hotel room.  After the video call he had two weeks ago ended, he decided to give her a key to his room.  “Our internship is over, and we have one last night to spend together, Jug.  Out of every place in all of New York City, where do you want to go, Jughead Jones?” she asked seductively, a coy smirk growing on her face.

“I’m feeling burgers tonight,” Jughead answered, trying to stop his expression from deflating.  “And then maybe we can get some cupcakes?”

“I like it!” she grinned. She grabbed his hand and dragged him out of the room, beginning the trek to their favorite restaurant.  “Jesus, I can’t believe it’s been three months already.”

“I know,” he agreed.  “It seems like my plane landed just yesterday.”

“Yeah,” (Y/N) breathed. They spent the rest of their walk in silence, choosing to listen to the bustling New York traffic.

The waitresses at the restaurant, at this point, knew Jughead and (Y/N) as regulars.  They didn’t even bother giving them menus, knowing exactly what each of them would order.

“You two are my favorites,” the waitress whispered as she set their burgers in front of them.

“Thank you,” (Y/N) grinned. “I’m sorry to say, but it’s our last day here.”

“Oh,” the waitress sighed. “Well, you two better visit.  I don’t know what I’ll do without my favorite regulars.”  She walked away, leaving (Y/N) and Jughead to enjoy their burgers.

“You know,” Jughead noted through a mouth full of burger, “I don’t know how you’ve tried almost every restaurant in New York City while becoming a regular here.”

“Talent, Jug,” she told him, wiping her mouth on a napkin.  “It takes a hell of a lot of talent.”

They finished dinner and went to their favorite bakery to get cupcakes.  On their walk back to the hotel, they fell into silence once again. It wasn’t broken until they entered Jughead’s hotel room.  By now, almost all of (Y/N)’s stuff ended up in here.  They found it easier, rather than constantly having to switch back and forth between rooms to grab their stuff.

“So that was our last day,” (Y/N) claimed, flopping onto the bed.  Jughead stood by the bedside, crossing his arms with an amused smile.

“Unfortunately, it was,” he nodded.  He jumped next to her on the bed, earning a shriek from (Y/N).  He swallowed as he stared at her, knowing what he had to tell her. “Do you remember what you said to me on the first day we met?”

“That I know where to go for whatever you’re craving,” she answered with a grin.  Jughead laughed and shook his head.

“No, the other thing.”

“I hope you’re not an asshole because we’re gonna be stuck together all summer?” she offered.  He shook his head again.

“Nope.”

“I called you quick-witted?”

“No!”

“What is it?” (Y/N) demanded, sitting up so that she was hovering over Jughead as he remained laying down.

“You told me that if we were together any longer than just the summer, I might fall in love with you,” he explained, sitting up so that they were face-to-face.  (Y/N)’s grin slightly faded.

“Oh,” she murmured.  “Yeah, I did say that.”

“You were wrong,” Jughead said, trying to keep his voice steady.  He slowly grabbed her right hand.

“Really?” she asked as her eyes followed Jughead’s hand.

“Betty told me to be careful,” he explained, “because we’re not gonna be together that long.  And she was right.  I mean, why would we risk an immense amount of heartbreak just for the sake of a blissful few weeks together?”  When (Y/N) said nothing, he continued.  “So I figured I could just suck it up and get through the rest of our time together and not say anything.  It was a good plan, but you… you ruined it.”

“Sorry,” she quipped with a small smirk.  Jughead lovingly rolled his eyes.

“No you’re not,” he laughed. “You’re not sorry, and you shouldn’t be. Within the three months we’ve spent together, I’ve grown closer to you than I ever have with anyone else.  Hell, my ex-girlfriend said that we were great together.”

“She did?”

“Yeah,” he responded, grabbing her hands.  “Jesus, (Y/N), I’m in love with you.  I’m fucking in love with you, and it sucks.  It sucks because I don’t know if I’m ever gonna see you again.  And this is gonna cause so much heartbreak, for me at least, and maybe you too.  I just… I can’t keep it from you anymore.  But I also think, deep down, you already knew how I felt.”  Tears clouded (Y/N)’s eyes, and her lips quivered as she quickly enveloped Jughead in a hug.

“Fuck,” she whispered into his neck.  “Fuck, of course I love you, Jughead.”  He pulled himself out of her grip and stared at her, stroking his hand across her cheek. They both leaned in, pressing their foreheads against each other.  Their lips ghosted over each other, only millimeters apart.

“If I kiss you-”

“If you kiss me, everything is gonna go to shit, Jug,” she interrupted him.  He nodded but didn’t pull away.  They sat there like that on his bed on a minute, (Y/N) sitting on Jughead’s lap with her arms around his neck, foreheads touching and lips barely brushing.

The tension grew unbearable, so (Y/N) closed the gap and pressed her lips against his, trying to express what she had been feeling for the past three months.

Jughead, too, attempted to convey every pent up confession he had, wishing that kisses could speak. He wanted his hands, which were encircling her waist, to tell her how she charmed him with her wit.  He wanted his eyes, which were closed with pleasure, to tell her how beautiful she was, especially when she trudged into his hotel room at three in the morning.  He wanted his lips, which were pressed against hers, to tell her how much he loved her.  He loved her, he loved her, and he wanted to keep saying it for the rest of his life.

For the sake of oxygen, the two pulled apart.  They kept their foreheads resting against each other.

“Everything’s gone to shit,” (Y/N) whispered, and Jughead burst out into laughter.  (Y/N) followed suit by giggling, and their still-entangled limbs caused them to fall onto the bed so that (Y/N) was laying on top of Jughead. This only caused the pair to laugh harder.

When their chuckles finally died down, (Y/N) climbed off from on top of Jughead and laid next to him, resting her head on his chest.  She combed her hand through his raven locks.

“I’m sorry that I fell in love with you,” Jughead apologized, kissing the top of her head. They were slowly falling asleep.

“Thank you for falling in love with me,” (Y/N) whispered, eyes fluttering shut.  “It may have all gone to shit, but it was worth it.”

Oh, tell me something I don’t already know
Oh, tell me something I don’t already know
Oh, tell me something I don’t already know
Oh, tell me something I don’t already know

Jughead stepped off the plane and saw his dad and friends standing at the gate, excitedly waiting for him.  He didn’t say anything, he didn’t even bother smiling.  Immediately, everyone understood.

While they were awaiting Jughead’s plane’s arrival, Betty, Veronica, and Archie explained to the rest of the group about (Y/N).  They told them about how Jughead spent three months falling in love with this girl, and they explained that they had never seen Jughead look so smitten before.

“How was New York, Jug?” FP asked, taking Jughead’s suitcase from him.  Jughead shrugged.

“It was nice.”

“Good food?” he questioned, trying to get his son to open up.  Jughead nodded tiredly.

“Yeah, food was great,” he replied monotonously.

“And the internship?”

“Helpful,” Jughead responded.  “I think it’ll help me improve as a writer.”

“That’s good,” FP said, raking a hand through his hair.  “You had another person with you, right?”  FP noticed Jughead tense up at this.

“Yeah,” he answered quietly. “Yeah, I had a counterpart.”

“What was she like?” Jughead looked up at his dad.

“You already know who it is,” he replied, shaking his head.  “Who told you, Betty?”  FP pursed his lips.

“Yeah, her and Archie and Veronica.  But listen, Jug, you’re going to have your heart broken countless other times.  You’ll get over this girl,” he attempted to comfort Jughead.

“Dad, she wasn’t just a girl,” he protested.  “She was amazing and quick-witted, and I fell in love with her and then everything went to shit.  But the worst part is that it’s okay, because she loved me too.  She fucking loved me, and I kissed her, and now I may never see her again.”

“Well if you loved her that much, you may see her again,” FP shrugged.  “Fate is a tricky thing, son, but the universe seems to cooperate better if you love someone.”

You had come back from an assignment only a few hours ago and all you wanted to do was have some time for yourself and your boyfriend, Steve. The breaks from work were rare since you had joined the Avengers a year and a half ago, but the good side was you had found a family and a loving boyfriend.

i remember how fucking happy i was to see a wlw couple on screen when sanvers first started. i had already been watching supergirl because of my interest in superheroes, but to learn that one of my favorite characters was a lesbian and would be in a canon lesbian relationship on my screen? i was so happy oh my god. and then floriana lima was revealed to be a piece of shit, and i tried to continue enjoying sanvers, but i just couldn’t anymore - it was ruined for me. but i liked supercorp, and even though it wasn’t canon and i knew it never would be some part of me still had hope. and i watched the show anyway, despite the shitty abusive main pairing, because i found comfort in all of the wlw in the show’s fandom. and to see supercorp laughed at because “what a fucking joke, two girls would never get together, there would never bee two wlw pairings on the same show, that’s ridiculous.” is so fucking disappointing. like, i watched this show because i’m a lesbian and i wanted to see wlw representation, and even after that ship was ruined for me i found comfort in another one even though it wasn’t canon, and to see wlw being fucking laughed at for wanting good fucking representation is just so fucking disappointing. what a fucking disappointment supergirl has been

Some of my favorite Zodiac pairings

Not all signs included. Just a quick drabble of mine.

Virgo x Pisces: Okay, so I’ve got this huge weakness for opposite signs pairings but Virgo x Pisces holds a special place in my heart. Pisces goes with the flow, and Virgo likes to plan things out. Pisces is a dreamer, while Virgo is an analyst. They have so much to teach one another and if they can put their differneces aside, or tolerate them, their relationship is tender, loving and incredibly fulfilling.

Aries x Gemini: These two are all about the action and the fun. They have such an easy understanding between the two of them and everything seems to come natural to them. Aries is passionate and brash, Gemini is an intellectual and sure to keep their easily bored partner interested, and I just love this little contrast between them. Also, the sex is crazy.

Leo x Sagittarius: This is the couple everyone will be talking about. They both love being the center of attention and they both like giving lots of admiration to each other. They spark each other’s best sides that people don’t normally get to see all that often like for Sag a sense of security and confidence, and for Leo tenderness and trust. They’re also equally passionate and impulsive so they rarely misunderstand each others moves. Love this pairing.

Scorpio x Pisces: Oh my god, cuteness overload. Big bad mysterious Scorpio falls for dreamy, sweet Pisces. Both are emotionally intense water signs, so this is a relationship full of empathy and understanding. Scorpio is a very complex person and never fails to intrigue Pisces, who loves an intellectual challenge. These two are inseperable and really encourage on another to chase their dreams.

Pairing: Dean x Reader

Requested by: @jensen-jarpad

Dean never wanted you.

He never wanted the pain.

He never wanted the anxiety.

He never wanted the uncertainty.

You invaded his world to the point of no return and he tried grasping at any hint of sanity that presented itself. It was over the second his eyes landed on your curvaceous form, the minute his breath hitched from the glimpse of your smile, the hour you unabashedly talked his ear off about your fluffy German Shepherd.

You wormed your way into Dean’s life so effortlessly that it was unsettling. He exhausted any and all possibilities trying to find out how this occurred. It took months of investigating and plenty of persuasion from Sam, Bobby and Cas but the truth was finally revealed.

It wasn’t a shitty spell by Rowena wanting to teach him a lesson. It wasn’t some fake reality created by Gabriel for his amusement. And it wasn’t some sick joke Crowley orchestrated out of boredom.

Wearing

✶ Tailored off shoulder crop top {Similar at F21  ✶  Similar at Etsy  ✶  Similar at ASOS main collection

✶  ASOS Denim mom shorts {also available in pale blue and in black

✶  Birkenstock Madrid sandals

✶  7X chunky round sunglasses

Boohoo circle bag from last year

How do you wear an off shoulder crop top? With denim shorts and confidence, that’s how. If you wear plus sizes, these off shoulder crop top styles can be hard to find, but I’ve got you sorted with several similar options in the widget below! I got this one tailored like I have been with most of my new clothes this summer - custom tailoring isn’t a luxury I’m always going to have at my fingertips, so I’m making the most of it while I’m in Bangalore. I’m still going the retail route for a few essentials however, like these ASOS denim shorts.

Denim shorts used to be a summer staple in my wardrobe, until my last pair got too old and battered to wear on a regular basis - and I’m so happy now to have found the mom short style on ASOS because these are the perfect denim shorts my wardrobe had been missing for way too long! I’ve been wearing these pair constantly since they arrived, and here’s what I love about them: thick, non stretch denim that I always prefer on shorts because my thighs make short work (ha ha) of all other kinds, and an inseam that doesn’t ride all the way into my crotch the moment I sit down or start walking (fellow fats, you know the thing I’m talking about.) I can actually move around and do things in this pair, and that’s a huge plus.

I’m not gonna lie, this outfit is the most skin I’ve bared to the world at large in a long time, and I wasn’t a hundred percent secure about it at first. It’s one thing to be perfectly happy with my body by myself and a very different thing to have to deal with creepy, staring men - a double whammy of fatphobia and misogyny (ugh.) But once I was at the Lal Bagh garden centre (all time favorite place) and shooting with my photographers and distracted by all the pretty plants and pretty photos, it stopped mattering whether anyone was staring or commenting or not. I was doing something I enjoy, and in a place I love and I came back home afterwards with some teeny tiny cacti and succulents. It was a good day. I wore what I wanted to and didn’t compromise, and I had fun in the end. And that’s how things should be!
