not in the japanese way though at least i dont think

The YOI Soundtrack is absolute genius PART ONE - Kamome

So, this is a post I’ve really wanted to make for a while. And, I know how much people seem to like my metas, so why not? I will preface this with the fact I am not a musical expert. I had vocal training, was in a few choirs etc., but I have no qualifications, I’m just a nerd who’s really into music and analysis. I would be perfectly okay with someone with experience sweeping in to tell me I’m completely wrong, these are just my personal thoughts and observations. Also, if you want to skim this, I’m bolding the main points.

I have a bone to pick with the Yuri On Ice Original Soundtrack(s), because they’re absolute bloody genius. And personally I think, represent a lot about Viktor and Yuuri’s relationship.

My main focus will be on three: Kamome, Passacaille In Barcelona, and Yuri On Ice itself. To stop it from getting to a ridiculous length, I’m going to be tackling this in three different parts.

First, the appropriately named Kamome (translating to ‘seagull’ in Japanese).

One thing you have to understand is that consistently in the music, Viktor is represented by strings, and Yuuri by piano. I’m not going to claim that this is true for 100% of the anime, but honestly just listen to background in the scenes for the characters (even down to their Free Skate music! The difference between Stammi Vicino and Yuri On Ice!), you’ll see what I mean.

Personally, I think this represents their personalities. Though it’s true you can pluck strings pretty quickly if you want to, none of that really happens in the pieces we care about. In fact, Viktor’s pieces are always so steady sounding (some are waltzes, I believe? A very sturdy dance and beat). Whereas, a lot of the piano represented by Yuuri is super erratic and unpredictable. I don’t think I really need to go that deep into explaining why that represents them both, and what they brought to each other’s lives so beautifully. But oh boy, the piano and string pieces meant to represent the both of them together?

We see Kamome used in three scenes, which all represent similar events in that the scenes start with Yuuri fighting on his own, and end with a greater bond between he and Viktor. Those scenes are:

Yuuri running off to practice figures in Ice Castle (episode two)

The infamous beach conversation (episode four)

The Christmas market scene (episode ten)

And the same story is told through the music too!

Now I believe the figures scene and the market scene both use the exact same clip of the music, which happens to be the start. Honestly, just listen to how innocent it sounds. For me at least, the first part of Kamome reminds me of a music box. Which, if we take that image, makes me think of repetition (you know those spinning ballet dancers and such? – Interesting that we see Yuuri skating figures with this playing).

Now, these two scenes skip the strings sections and just keep the little piano parts. And to be fair, these are both scenes that only lead up to Yuuri bonding with Viktor, hence the solo piano; Yuuri is fighting on his own, making his own choices.

So, we’re left with one scene were the music is pretty much as it appears on the purchasable soundtrack: the beach scene. This is, in my opinion, the best symbolic use of the music. First of all, we start off with the innocent sounding piano as Yuuri recounts that story of Detroit, which again portrays him in a naïve and kind of childish/innocent light. And finally, we get the strings at this moment:

As soon as Viktor reaches out to Yuuri, the music has a different mood. The strings fill in the gaps the piano left, almost swirling around it and complimenting it in the best of ways. If you will, Viktor is literally meeting Yuuri where he is, both in animation and their figurative strings/piano representations.

The music for that scene ends there, but if you listen to the whole piece, it almost tells the story of Viktor and Yuuri all together. This is going to be a lot easier if you actually listen to it, the music is on both Spotify and Youtube.

0:00-0:28 We have the innocent music box piano, AKA Yuuri on his own

0:28-0:51 The strings have joined in, but the piano definitely seems to be leading, so this part represents where Viktor followed Yuuri’s lead, and decided to ‘meet him where he is’

0:51-1:10 This part feels more like a mutual balance, showing how Yuuri has begun to accept Viktor’s presence, and even trusts him more.

1:10-1:20 The piano is alone again, but this time much more playful. For me, this sounds like an invitation, especially with the little flourish at the end that begs to be completed. The anime literally shows this, as it’s the same moment Yuuri actually extends his hand to Viktor in invitation.

1:20-2:00 This honestly sounds more like the strings are now leading, showing how Yuuri has finally put his faith in Viktor. Now the piano sounds like the steady beat, which could perhaps represent how the tone of the anime shifts as we find more out about Viktor, and see how Yuuri created stability in his life too.

2:00-2:18 The piano and the strings are now in perfect harmony, creating a beautiful, romantic sounding duet as they’re less distinguishable from each other. To be honest, this is the exact conclusion of Viktor and Yuuri’s relationship in canon – just take a look at the Stammi Vicino Duetto

To be completely honest, I have no idea whether the Yuri On Ice creators actually intended this to be such a perfect representation of viktuuri or not, but I kind of think it is? Why? Kamome. Seagull. Through the entire series, seagulls are used consistently as a symbol for Viktor and Yuuri’s love. Sometimes it’s a mere background shot, but it is explicitly brought to our attention. Although it could just be called Kamome due to the beach scene it’s in, I have to think it’s deeper than that.

So, long story short, some serious praise is deserved, because this is symbolic genius.

Even if you don’t buy into my analysis, please listen to it because it is a BEAUTIFUL piece of music.

(I promise I’ll upload part two and three soon, but this third is over 1000 words and took me a while to write, so please be patient)

A post about Hetalia

I get too many asks like this so I’m going to tell you some more in depth shit okay so get ready, this is the last time I try to explain why I try to avoid this show even though i like some of the characters and some of the ideas of the show.

The idea of the show

The concept of Hetalia is really cool, maybe it could be good. A bunch of characters that are the representations of entire countries full of people that then have to interact and try their best to get along and make the humans behave while also teaching the audience about historical events and culture in various countries. Sure it’s really complicated and weird, but anime is always like that and the idea sounds kinda interesting. The show is very simple and silly and the characters are all goofy and funny. Nothing violent ever really happens its pretty much just the characters interacting and giving us some historical lessons full of jokes.

Is Hetalia offensive and racist?

I would say Hetalia could be a lot better, both in how its told and how its made, If you’re a person who has never read the manga or seen the anime the idea of it probably sounds very problematic but it’s actually not that bad. Dont get me wrong, parts of it are pretty bad but not as bad as you’d think, at least not the original Japanese version. The show doesn’t necessarily touch much on the very sensitive historical events its not like we see actual war scenes or characters dying, rather it tells us facts about the countries, about the culture. As a person who always loved history and culture I’d have to say some of the jokes in the show can be pretty funny and maybe even clever (but most of the time its just Italy running around and making weird noises). It’s safe to say the original idea for this show was probably for it to simply be an educational and fun way to learn world history, whether it actually is what it tries to be is up for debate. When it comes to racism the English dub however does have a lot of pretty terrible jokes, obvious stereotype accents and so on that many may find offensive, but that’s just the English version. But that’s not really the point, what makes Hetalia really offensive and annoying are the fans, and I feel bad for saying it but its true

The Hetalia fans

The show in itself may actually be pretty okay, some may hate it but the show in itself isn’t actually the worst show to ever be created on this earth believe it or not. But the fandom blows things out and create so much bullshit that it does make the show seem really bad.

Anyone can tell that things are about to get problematic if you have fan girls shipping countries that in real life have been in war with each other. I wouldn’t say its wrong to ship the characters in the show they are fictional after all, but the fans go way out of hand and they bring their weird fan girl stuff into real life. I have literally met fans of the show that dressed up as Nazis, I have met people who drew so much problematic fan art, I have met people who constantly joked about horrible real life events and used them as content for their shippings. I can maybe understand if its events that took place a long time ago (many shows and comedians do that kinda stuff, Hetalia isn’t the only show that jokes about Hitler and nazis) but the Hetalia fans have a tendency to also use horrible things that may have happened very recently, events from which many victims are still grieving or events that are still going on right now and it’s very disturbing.

Not to mention that for some reason the hetalia fandom in particular is very good at creating loads of fan content that involves incest and rape, I’m not sure why but I have never seen so much of that kinda content in any other fandom. Usually I dont care what kinda weird creepy shit other people draw or write, but when there’e so much of it it kinda creeps me out.

Why are they so annoying?

Hetalia fans in most cases, are pretty young, about 13 to 17 years old, of course younger and older fans exist but this is just based on the many people I talked to for years. Also I personally liked the show from when I was 14 to when I was about 18. Because of this its understandable why many of the fans are considered reckless, uneducated and annoying, because that’s what people are like when they are teenagers. I was stupid when I was a teen as well.

The show can also be brought up at all times because the show is literally about the entire world. The fans appear as so annoying because they bring up Hetalia in every fucking conversation and it makes me want to die. Almost all anime fans are a bit like that, we like to bring up our fave anime, I’m guilty of that as well, but hetalia fans are the best at it for sure because you can almost always find a way to sneak Hetalia into any topic. I’m not saying thats some kind of excuse for hetalia fans behavior but at least there’s a bit of an explanation to why they can seem so obnoxious.

Personal experiences

I’m not saying all hetalia fans are bad people but many of them are annoying and many of them do things without thinking first. About a year ago at a convention I met a friend and she had a big group of hetalia fans. At one point one girl asked me if I was the person who made the “the adventures of potatoboy” comic and the fan art and such, she recognized me from selfies I had posted on tumblr. I told her that yes that’s me and then kindly asked her not to tell people about it because I don’t like getting too much attention. However only minutes later she had told the entire group and started showing my comic to everyone, about 30 people. They all started talking to me, that’s cool I guess but I have social anxiety so I wasn’t really feeling it. I clearly stated I wanted to leave and go to my friends and started walking away, but some girls followed me and asked questions about the comic; that is not cool. I ended up having to distract them and then literally run and hide for about 15 minutes until finally I met my jojo group and hid behind them for the rest of that day, that is absolutely not cool. They were never necessarily rude to me but I was really scared when several people started following me and didn’t want to leave me alone despite the fact that I told them multiple times. And I’m not saying all Hetalia fans are like them but many of them seriously are and I know because I have met them many times.

Ever since I stopped posting Hetalia content and moved on to other shows the amount of drama, arguments and anon hate I used to get involved in without even trying has basically gone down to almost zero. Also my art doesn’t get stolen as much anymore, when I drew Hetalia my art got reposted by other people so much to the point where someone even made an instagram account and pretended to be me in order to gain more followers. Also people would sell my art on redbubble without asking me. If that’s not fucking weird then I don’t know what is.

So do I actually hate Hetalia?

No, I dont. I always liked the characters, they are silly and fun to draw. Yes the animation is probably the worst I have ever seen in an anime and the show certainly isn’t perfect in fact it’s pretty shit. But I don’t hate it and I dont hate people who like it, however I don’t trust the Hetalia fandom and I dont want to be a part of it ever again. All they do is argue, get into fights, act stupid in public and make me scared to go to conventions. If you like Hetalia that’s fine, if you think it’s racist and offensive then yeah that is your opinion and I understand that. For me what made me stop liking it was the fans, and yeah maybe I just had bad luck and kept running into the fans that steal and harass people but it made me very tired, and probably a main reason is also the fact that I got older

I've only heard of Game Theory in passing, and I'm curious as to what makes you dislike them so much? If you have the time and energy and explain, that is.

luckily i am currently stuck in bed with chicken pox at age 18 so i have time to rant about why i actually hate game theory 👍 tho to clarify 1) i only hate matpat i have never watched any of the other stuff on his channel 2) ITS ALL IN GOOD FUN, i only hate him because of his awful theorising about video games, it’s not like he’s done anything terrible

in short… matpat is the king of cherry picking information to make himself seem smart, and then acting like he’s god’s gift for doing so and sitting pretty in front of his hoards of fans who dont know better. i don’t hate him as a person (well… not really but i’ll get to that), but i hate the way he makes theories in which he:

1) CONSTANTLY cherry picks information in order to make a theory seem viable; this one makes me SO FRUSTRATED because it causes so many people to blindly believe him when they’re often really easily disproved. for example, i can disprove this one just by looking at it:

no, because TP link is directly descended from child timeline OOT link, so unless he somehow had a baby before the age of 10…. link did not die and is not dead in MM. the end. but matpat happily strolls right past this very easily accessible information in favour of a Wow So Edgy And Shocking video topic. and in another more recent case:

matthewpatthew holds phoenix to US laws in this video without addressing the fact that aa universe follows japanese (or at least, similar) law. not to mention, half the points he makes are disproved by the evidence law revealed in rise from the ashes anyway! disproving the whole theory! you couldve just said he trespasses and breaks into people’s safes matthew!

while i have less of a problem with his older videos and dont hold them to as high a standard, these days he has a HUGE audience and to constantly feed them with misinformation from his high horse just REALLY rubs me up the wrong way.

2) almost all of his theories that arent just fun science ones (like how fast is sonic, would the hookshot kill you in real life etc etc; these are all in good fun and dont really MATTER if they’re not entirely accurate as long as they make a good video in my opinion) particularly his newer ones fall into the WOW SO EDGY AND ALTERNATIVE SO EDGY YOUR FAVE IS EVIL bracket of theorising. bc of his huge influence these dumb theories get accepted on a surprisingly large scale! it reminds me of edgy anti-romantic shakespeare critics lmao. wow wilson knight just put out a video! whaaat? hamlet is evil and also not human and so is horatio whaaaaaat? cant u just see that happening. i cant believe game theory is the 21C equivalent of New Criticism. idk what tangent i just went on but u feel me

3) his ATTITUDE. i really wouldnt have so much of a problem with this if he was a) less popular b) actually did follow his own motto of this all just being silly and fun. but i swear he thinks he is some kind of intellectual blessing from the heavens! his theories are almost always incredibly weak in my opinion but he acts as though he’s found the cure to cancer with some of them and UGHHFBGJSG it just really rubs me up the wrong way. he just really annoys me as a person my dude!

4) the whole sans is ness fiasco

5) the whole pope and undertale fiaso

but i also find hating him pretty funny and its just an ongoing joke, so dont take this too seriously :’^) if you do like his theories then more for you, but there are some much much better theorists out there who actually look at all the facts rather than whatever matpat does (and are just less obnoxious in general)

rant over

Being a black woman in Japan

Sorry, this is gonna be a super long rant but I have been living in Japan for a year now (I’ll be leaving soon) and I just wanna share my experiences with Japanese men for all you awesome Black women out there. Firstly, I am a 26 year old black woman with dark brown skin and short 4c/4b hair (but I often wear braids). Since I’ve been in Asia, I’ve had nothing but positive experiences.

I work in a Japanese company and during my first nomikai (drinking meetup with co-workers), my boss point-blank asked me to pick which one of our male coworkers that I would consider dating and was trying to push the idea of me and one of the “tall and hot” Japanese coworkers getting together (I’m 5ft8 and he is taller which is rare in Japan. Btw, he wasn’t at the meet up that day). Not to mention one of my supervisors who’s nice but has barely had a conversation with me cause he’s so awkwardly shy with me, yet strangely would ask me about me going on a date with my fiance and stuff (lol what the heck, I’ve never had a fiance).

Being 5ft8 has been both a blessing and curse in Japan. Over the last year, a lot of Japanese men have literally gasped and commented over how long my legs are (especially when I wear slim fitting or high waisted pants). I think its a turn on for them lol. Sadly, a lot of guys are just way way too short for me. (2 or 3 inches shorter is ok). I have one experience with a shorter guy. He was a short, little guy but his body was fit (being a firefighter and all) and his face was…sexy, lol. We met through the “hellotalk” app to study English/japanese and met up only twice and both times, when the conversation would pause he’d be staring at me so intensely, I seriously wanted to run into a corner and hide. Just too much sexual tension lol. Btw, he also paid for our meals and drinks and told me that I was beautiful within the first minute that we met. His confidence was really sexy.

One of my other experiences is with a guy (my height), who was standing next to me and my coworkers at one of my favourite Japanese musician’s live. After talking that day, he offered to be my tour guide around the city and everytime we met afterwards he always insisted on paying for my food and even though I was always late meeting him, he would never get angry. I just thought that he was an overly nice guy but turns out that he actually liked me and he confessed that if he hadn’t assumed that I had a boyfriend he would have been more aggressive in chasing me (unfortunately, I’m not attracted to him).

But the most unforgettable experience was actually on a prior trip to Japan a few years ago. The guesthouse I was staying in on my last day in Japan, didn’t have any guests apart from me so the owner (who was 27 yrs) paid extra attention to me including giving me a ride to the bank on the back of his motorcycle, taking me to his favourite local bar and afterwards a european style bar since I mentioned that I like Sangria (I think my accomodation fee got cancelled out by him paying for everything lol). While having Sangria, a dvd special of Girls Generation was playing on the bar tv. He kept glancing between the girls on the tv and me until he finally asked if I wore makeup. I’m not really a make-up girl (only for events and stuff) so I told him I just wear the basic eyeliner. I couldn’t believe what he said next. This foo actually told me he thought I was more beautiful than k or j pop girls. At first, I thought he was flattering me but he was dead serious. I was so shook all I could say was “thank you”. As the night went on and thanks to a little alcohol, he got bold enough to tell me that he liked me and even asked if someone like him had a chance with a girl as “beautiful and intelligent” as me (whuh? Im just an average black girl. I’ll admit the intelligent part lol). Since I moved to Japan last year, we had a chance to meet up again after two years and I could tell that he still likes me (sadly I dont like him that way).

Before visiting Japan or Asia (I have some experiences with Taiwanese men as well), I never imagined that there would be guys genuinely interested in an average Black girl like me. But through my own interaction with people, I discovered that if you’re a woman, even a Black woman, there’s gonna be Asian men, Black men, White men, essentially straight men who are naturally attracted to you. Girls, don’t pay attention to things like ideal types or someone not seeming like they like Black women. Sometimes it’s the guys, in this case, asian guys that you least expect that secretly or not so secretly have a crush on you. I don’t think any of the guys that expressed interest in me, particularly had an explicit interest in Black girls or ever imagined dating one. Heck, they couldn’t even speak a lick of English (just you’re local boys with few or no foreign friends yet the feels was real (on their part). Which btw, it’s good to study foreign languages cause you never know, one day you might get love confessions in korean or polish, lol.

So that’s my experience in Japan (I might right one for Korea as well). I hope this gives all you fellow black girls confidence in your beauty, intelligence and charm whatever country you're living in.

yes. answer it.

this is gonna be unwieldingly long but you asked for it

very honestly nayeon captured my attention quite a bit when i watch the loa mv for the first time. as y'all know i didn’t watch sixteen until after i stanned them which was a sad sad mistake, but yeah. i knew she’d be the face of the group, because her face kinda just, yknow, screams FACE OF THE GROUP but idk maybe that’s just me. but as i got to know nayeon better i guess i fell for her quirkiness??? how do i say this?????? i’m a nayeon’s front teeth advocate because i also happen to have huge front teeth but she looks adorable with it. and it’s also the way how even though she acts really headass sometimes, she still plays this quiet role of responsibility. she’s not a leader in the way jihyo is, but nayeon is more of the kind of person who brings out this certain individuality in the other members? jihyo pulls all of them together, and nayeon makes sure everyone gets to have fun by being themselves. it’s also somehow in the way she acts because she truly doesn’t hide her true state of mind. if she’s sleepy, you can tell that she’s sleepy because she’s like walking with her eyes closed in the airport. hahah it’s sort of how she brings this certain truthfulness to all the members, like how she makes sure their personalities still stand out even though they’re all one team. you can also feel just how much she loves her members just by how she acts around them and i think its cute. also she’s a loser. that’s another reason why i love her.

very honestly i didn’t really fancy jeongyeon at first lol VERY honestly. but as time passed it’s really because jeongyeon supposedly acts like she doesn’t love her members with her whole heart but somehow outrightly expresses her love and care for her members anyway? it’s the way she sort of cares for all the members a little differently. she’s overall still very motherly, despite what most people would think her appearance conveys. and even though she’s called the no jam hyung, she’s actually really damn funny no matter what twice says.

ah my baby, my first ever bias in twice, the girl who stole my heart during the damned dance break in loa. what i really love most about momo is just, really, just how innocent her personality is. she looks dumb and she may say that she’s dumb but the twice members swear that she’s the most mature member in twice and honestly i’d trust the people who literally live with her 24/7. it’s how she always tries her best and how she works hard in everything she does and how she never fails to bring her determination back up every time someone brings it down. it’s how she’s always quietly improving herself. it’s how she’s a sucker for dogs of all kinds and how she’s most likely one of the cutest people alive. it’s how she talks like a baby and stumbles over her words in korean and also in japanese. it’s the funny way she screams and her cute little “eh????” and the way she scrunches her face and the way she takes selfies at the same angle all the damn time and it’s just, everything all at once that makes me love her so so much. she takes care of the younger members by acting like they’re the same age and she’s affectionate to every one of her other members and how she’s basically the unofficial baby of the group. yes. i love my hirai.

minatozaki sana is my gIRL. my princess my everything my beautiful little gem. this girl owns my entire heart alright. let’s start. basically one of the reasons why i love sana is just her clinginess hah i know it seems farfetched but well. i’m quite an affectionate person myself and i happen to have only one friend who fully accepts my clinginess for what it is. sana’s clinginess is basically just how she shows her affection. she loves her members, so she’s going to show them by essentially glomping them in a massive hug when they’re least expecting it. it’s as simple as that. she loves her members, so she wants to give them little kisses as her reminder of “i love you” and if you dont think that’s cute then we are going to have an issue alright. every single hug and every single little kiss from sana to her members essentially is an “i love you, and i’m making sure you remember that”. she feels the need to remind her members that she loves them occassionally, and while some of you may think that she somehow shows more affection to certain members, it’s probably not all that true. i’m pretty sure she doesn’t kiss jeongyeon as often because she knows jeongyeon doesn’t quite like it, so she shows it by cuddling with her and whatnot. she adapts her affection to fit the member, essentially, and basically if the member accepts sana’s kisses, then she’ll kiss them all she wants. and to a certain extent i think she kisses them all equally, because she loves all of them. she’s clingy because she loves her members and that’s pretty much it. i have like way more reasons though, like her smile, and the way her eyes sparkle and her knowing of how to charm her way into anyone’s heart. but that’d make this too long and i dont want that happening so MOVING ON

ah our god jihyo. i admire her, really. i love how admirable she is. for leading a bunch of other girls, some of which are older than her, for persevering through the 10 years of her trainee life, for always expressing her gratitude towards the fans, for always thinking that she needs to work harder. it’s really admirable. it’s not something you can do easily at the age of 8. to give up your childhood to pursue what seems to be an undetermined dream. she trained well, and she got put into twice and now she’s the leader. the dependable leader. the responsibility she has over the members is immense, and it’s easy for anyone to just blame her if anything goes wrong. she’s the leader, after all. and what’s most admirable is that she’d do it. she’d take all the blame in a heartbeat and she’d apologize and she’d work even harder. she’d strive to improve herself even more. she never fails to express her gratitude towards onces and she never fails to express that she feels that she’s lacking. we’re gonna watch her grow into an even better person, and an even better singer and that’s what makes me love her. also have you seen the girl smile like ???? that shit is beautiful.

this girl lights up my entire life really,,, what i love most about mina is probably her smile? like that gummy smile she does when she’s really happy like her eyes just squish into crescents and then you can see her gums and the silver tooth peeking out and she looks like the most adorable child in that moment and you can just FEEL her happiness and she’s truly a blessing to us all. my love for her smile aside the next thing is most probably how she’s a responsible person in general, but her members still treat her like a little baby. especially jline. you can see how everyone truly has a soft spot for mina, even though she seems like the most responsible member, next to jihyo and tzuyu. she’s that dependable person who you still want to protect at all costs. another one is probably how she’s elegant + poise + quiet but also one of the weirdest. like, have you seen the girl? sometimes she just snaps and does the weirdest thing amongst the twice members and it’s hilarious. she owns a special soft spot in my heart and she’s staying there forever as long as smiles her perfect big gummy smile.

ah,,, kim dahyun. she truly brings excitement to the group doesn’t she? it’s oddly quiet without her around, even though there’s still 8 other girls. she’s the one who makes everyone excited, even if it’s a little bit, and always strives to keep everyone up on their feet and happy. it’s honestly really cute when you realize how much excitement she really brings just by being herself. also she’s incredibly funny for no reason and i think that’s the best trait about her. of course, dahyun isn’t just a bundle of humour and nothing else. i also find it great that she’s always challenging her fears and wanting to step outside her comfort zone, from riding rollercoasters to getting a whole puppy (she’ll warm up to the puppy, i know so because my mum used to be terrified of cats and now she cuddles up with my cat all the time). she’s always ready to take on a challenge and that’s what i admire. also she looks like an angel when she plays the piano. good fingers and wrists. 10/10.

chaeng chaeng chaengggggg. chaeyoung is great in the way that like, she just truly pursues what she’s interested in or what she wants. like how she cut her hair without jyp knowing and jyp having to tell her that she has to get permission first. which is ridiculous because it’s her own hair, but oh well. anyway also it’s cute how she’s all sentimental and all emotional and how she gets embarassed about it when the members tease her lol. she’s badass and adorable all at the same time and i love her she’s beautiful

chou tzu!!!! honestly i think tzuyu is really funny, even though she doesn’t really talk much. the thing that’s funniest about her is that she doesn’t even have to talk to be funny and that’s truly a talent on its own. that aside, you can tell how much she really loves her members and how grateful she is to each and every one of them even if she only thanked nayeon for recommending shopping sites and nothing else. it’s true that she doesn’t express herself well, but you can really feel how much she appreciates all that her members have done for her and how her members have taken care of her from the beginning. i think she’s coming out of her shell well, and that she’s slowly learning how to express herself in the polite, truthful way that tzuyu has, and her members are helping her as she goes along, because they know she’s trying. she’s twice’s gigantic baby, and she loves all her members the same.

in conclusion, i love these idiots, and twice without any of the members even for a short period of time feel incomplete somehow. they depend on each other and help to bring each other up. they’re always striving to improve as a team and individually, and they own my heart. thank you very much for your attention.

story - PIVOT!

A Naruto ‘Friends’ AU. I don’t own Naruto or Friends, but this was written for my love for writing and I intend on continuing this series for a long, long time. Hope you enjoy it, and please leave feedback!

It begins, one would say, in a small ramen-house in the middle of Konoha.

The time is Spring, during which Tenten finds herself walking out of her workplace and onto sunlit streets. She purchases a green tea smoothie on her way to her friends’ meeting point, beaming up at the sunshine that’s peeking through sweeping skyscrapers. Her work is largely confined to the kitchen of Yakiniku Q, where she’s been steadily working her way up from waitress to sous-chef over the course of four years. She likes to think that she’s a hard worker with a good head on her shoulders and an expansive knowledge of the culinary arts.

"Give me a character" - Azusa? If you've not done him yet? I have scrolled but might have missed him (so sorry if I did). If not Azusa then how about Kou? I love your analysis and if anyone can actually convince me to stop getting irritated by Princess Sparkle Pants it's you!

Haha well I haven’t done Azusa yet and I do love him, so I’ve answered his first. I might write Kou’s another time ^^

Why I like them
Azusa reminds me of this exchange from Once Upon a Time -
Mr. Gold: ‘Intent is meaningless’
Regina: ‘Intent is everything.’

When looking at Azusa as a character, his intentions are everything. Azusa is a sweetheart okay. He honestly wants Yui to feel good, and believes that shared pain is the way to do that. By being hurt, he thinks he has proof of his existence, and can give Yui happiness. This does not mean he is innocent however, he possesses an obstinate streak and can be manipulative too. But like…compared to their other guys who love to make Yui feel pain because ‘lol your tearful face is a turn on’ Azusa has a reasoning behind his actions. And his intentions are…'nice’, if you look at it from his perspective.

It’s messed up yes, and Azusa luckily learns what real affection is, but at his core, he is a kind character for at least having those intentions to begin with. He’s a character that you can easily look at and understand why he does what he does, and why he is the way he is. After being bullied so terribly as a lone child on the streets, he latched onto pain because it was the only reason he was noticed. He’s just such a sad character and he’s one of those that I always want to see have an epiphany. To understand how real kindness works, so that he CAN GET A DAMN HUG DAMMIT.

Why I don’t
I don’t really dislike anything about Azusa. His More Blood route can get a tad repetitive but hey so can the rest of the boys scenarios.

Favorite episode (scene if movie)

manga (since I can’t find Azusa’s More Blood manga anywhere, this will have to do x But I would have included the part where he takes a bullet for Yui. EDIT: Found it! Thanks to - @ninininonnon

Favorite season/movie/game

If I say Vandead Carnival is that cheating?

Favorite line
“What do you think the saddest thing in the world is? It’s not dying as you would think. It’s not being wanted by anyone.”

Favorite outfit - I’m just going to be boring and say his casual one. His sweater looks so comfy and I like how his shirt resembles a hospital gown. Add that to his bandages and the leather straps around his wrists and you can really understand everything about his character just by looking at him.

Azusa x Yui are adorable and URGH YES I AM HERE FOR IT. HE TAKES A BULLET FOR HER. They’re kind of like kindred spirits in a way, which Azusa picks up immediately because of her experiences with the Sakamakis. I’m not saying their communication is perfect as Azusa tends to be very stubborn about either making her feel ‘good’ with pain or trying to make her cut him. Yui is such a great influence on him however, and even though it takes a long long time for him to accept love her way, it does happen. In other games, he even says he’ll stop cutting, though he falls back on it sometimes.

But it doesn’t change the fact that deep down, Azusa just wants acknowledgement, and Yui gives that to him.

She wants to make him feel loved, just as he wants her to feel loved. They just have different idea’s on what that entails, but again, the intent is there. That’s why they’re a really lovely ship. I think the real proof of their connection is that Azusa does give up his arm for her, even though it has his scars on it. In some endings, he does become a yandere and things become super angsty, but in others, they move past it together.

As said before, he’s great with any of the Mukami’s because they’re great bros. He’s kind of like the ‘heart’ of the group. He makes a scrapbook of photos of them in Dark Fate and states several times that he loves them. I like that he can occasionally be a brat though to try and get a punishment.

Head Canon
I’ve noticed that some people are torn between thinking Azusa’s speech patterns are because he was bullied, or because he struggles with Japanese as a language. Since I think Ruki would try his best to make Azusa understand the language, I think his speech is from being bullied. From his experiences, it would definitely make someone hesitant to speak, and in flashbacks as a child he has it anyway.

Unpopular opinion
I don’t know if it’s unpopular as I think most people share this sentiment but - boi I wish Azusa and Yui hadn’t named their children after his childhood bullies in More Blood. Like I get it, they meant a lot to him. But just…the connection feels weird and I would’ve preferred a clean slate of names.

A wish
For Yui to wear his comfy af looking sweater and for Azusa to just be like omg she’s cute.

An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen
Well I saw Lost Eden spoilers of Ruki dying for Azusa which was…great. No more of that, thank you. Stop killing Azusa’s family!

hi, this is really important ! please dont scroll past. i think its time that the fandom really had a talk about its most toxic abuser… ocelot.

as a mentally ill abuse survivor its incredibly concerning to me to see so many ppl in the mgs fandom blindly supporting and even identifying as the character revolver ocelot… this is not ok. hes canonically a murderer, torturer, an abuser and a RAPIST, and there are many pedophilic undertones in how hes written. maybe a lot of ppl havent actually played the games, and dont know about this content. but im going to write it all out for you and hopefully youll realize that yr supporting rape and abuse by apologizing for the things ocelot does :/

im not even going to focus on all the times ocelot is shown to murder or torture ppl… im sure everyone knows abt that, but i would remind you that hes canonically a sadist who ENJOYS torture.

anyway, lets start with mgs1….

in mgs1, if snake submits to ocelot’s torture, you get a scene where ocelot says hes going to rape meryl:
“The torture will stop as I promised… But I’ll take the woman in return. I’ll have my fun with her… before I kill her.”

you might be able to say that this is just a threat and empty words to upset snake (tbh this is really some apologist rape culture stuff to even go there as your first response to this, but i wont even get into that) if not for this later scene in the meryl ending, where meryl heavily implies that she had to endure stuff “worse than” torture:

S: Meryl… it must have been terrible.
M: It wasn’t that bad. I didn’t give in to the torture.
S: Torture?
M:  … And things even worse than that…

i think its pretty clear in light of what ocelot says in the other clip what things "even worse than that” means….

ive seen some people claim that this isnt in the japanese version of the script, but thats not true. i speak japanese so lets look at the JP version and ill translate as literally as i can.

スネーク: メリル?メリル、大丈夫か? (Meriru? Meriru, daijoubu ka?)
Meryl? Meryl, are you okay?

メリル: 大丈夫か、しか言えないの・・・? (Daijoubu ka, shika ienai no…?)
“Are you okay”? Is that all you can say?

スネーク: メリル、つらい思いをさせた。(Meriru, tsurai omoi wo saseta.)
Meryl… you had a terrible experience.

メリル: いいえ、つらくはなかったわ。奴等の拷問に私、屈しなかった。(Iie, tsuraku wa nakatta wa. Yatsura no goumon ni watashi, kusshinakatta.)
No, it didn’t get that bad. I didn’t give in to their torture.

スネーク: 拷問?(Goumon?)

メリル: それ以上のひどいことも・・・。私も闘ってたの、あなたと同じように。(Sore ijou no hidoi koto mo… Watashi mo tatakattetano, anata to onaji you ni.)
And things more cruel than that… I was fighting too, the same as you.

this is pretty much just how it was translated in the english version. its not explicit, she doesnt come out and exactly say I WAS RAPED, but with ocelots rape threat earlier in the game its very clear what she means… ocelot at the very least ordered her to be raped, if not partook in the act himself, which he probably did because he CANONICALLY is a sadist who enjoys torture. yes, ocelot is gay, but you dont have to be attracted to someone to rape them…

heres a scene in mgs3 where ocelot gropes eva without her consent:
yes, hes touching her breasts because hes trying to figure out who she is and not for gratification….. but it still displays that he has NO CONCERN for eva’s sexual boundaries. thats SEXUAL ASSAULT.

and of course later in this same scene where ocelot proclaims his interest in torture…

so ocelot is canonically a rapist and a sexual assaulter… thats undeniable. but theres also a lot that implies that ocelot is an abuser, and it doesnt take a lot to conclude that he groomed solid snake and liquid snake for problematic purposes :/

for instance, look at this convo between kaz and ocelot in mgsv where kaz accuses ocelot of getting off on torturing eli, an 11-12 y/o child:

K: Ocelot. You get too many kicks from your “art of interrogation”.
O: It’s not a matter of art. It’s about quick, minimal strokes of psychological warfare. That’s what gets the answers. And it’s the best way to keep both questioner and subject safe. The risks only increase the more an interrogation drags on. At that point, it causes as much pain for the inflicter as the inflicted.
K: Hmph. Like I said, too many kicks.

obviously kaz is far from an unbiased observer here, but we know ocelot. it’s not at all unreasonable that he’d think this. whats most notable about this is that ocelot doesnt even deny the accusation… he goes on and on abt how his method is the best and does say he wont “go overboard”, but he doesnt actually contradict kaz’s accusation that he’d get off on torturing a child :/

then later on when ocelot finally does interrogate eli, the way he touches him is very uncomfortable:

what reason does ocelot have to violate elis personal space like this? its not explicitly sexual but in light of all his other behaviors its very questionable…

theres more stuff that ocelot does, too, thats not so easy to point out w specific clips. like the fact that ocelot spends the entirety of mgsv abusing kaz.

i think its pretty clear that ocelot has romantic feelings for big boss (he outright says so here:, plus lots of other things to support it, im sure i dont have to dig that up to convince ppl on tumblr at least lol), but its not so obvious that big boss ever reciprocated them. imo, he didnt… theres really no point where big boss is shown having any feelings like that for ocelot. i think this is a lot clearer in the japanese version, the english version actually seems to have made their relationship MORE familiar. for example, big boss actually never calls ocelot adam in the truth tapes… he calls him “junior” (furigana over “son of the boss”). i sure hope big boss wouldnt call his lover “junior”….

オセ:では……ジョン。9年間忘れたことはなかったが私はしばらくあなたを忘れます。(Dewa… John. Kyuunen kan wasureta koto wa nakatta ga watashi wa shibaraku anata wo wasuremasu.)
Well… John. I haven’t forgotten you in nine years, but I will forget you soon.
ボス:ザ・ボスの息子(ジュニア)。また頼む。(Junia. Mata tanomu.)
Junior… I’ll rely on you again.

also something i think that backs me up is how ocelot speaks to bb in these tapes… he uses very polite and formal language with him. he doesnt speak like this anywhere else in the game, not even to venom… he uses ore pronouns and casual/masculine speech usually. but when talking to bb it totally changes. he uses masu form, deferential language, and watashi, which is very formal/feminine for a male character to say. it’s very respectful but also not intimate. this is the way you talk to a stranger or your superior. he clearly respects big boss, but doesnt consider himself to have the right to use familiar speech with him. i think its really unlikely that a male character would be written in japanese speaking to his lover this way…

so, if ocelot is in love with big boss, but big boss doesnt return his feelings, i think this speaks a lot to the subtext of his behavior in the games. we know that despite this ocelot dedicates his whole life to bb… he even dies for him… so i think that really sheds some light on what he does to kaz in mgsv.

theres a lot more evidence that bb had a more intimate relationship w kaz (see: the entire sauna tape, date with kaz… basically, the whole of peace walker), and i think its clear that ocelot was jealous. he didnt overtly attack or insult kaz but thats exactly his MO… long manipulative conspiracies meant to take people down without them even realizing.

if you look at all of their interactions theres a revealing pattern in how ocelot speaks to kaz. he more or less does everything he can to undermine kaz in front of bb (venom). he contradicts kaz constantly, and sets himself up as the “rational voice” always. he negs kaz for being “too emotional”. this really is basically gaslighting… he puts up a civil front but in everything he says and does hes undermining kazs authority and the validity of his emotions. he’s trying to make kaz feel hysterical and invalid and worthless. its abusive.

i have no doubt that ocelot was a big factor in withholding the truth about v from kaz, too. the way he speaks to kaz in their post-credits scene, he seems really self-satisfied hearing how devastated kaz is to learn the truth. almost like he’s gloating. he knew that hiding it and then telling kaz later would totally destroy bb and kaz’s relationship, and he enjoyed doing it. he took away everything that kaz had and left him emotionally destroyed. just killing kaz wasnt enough, that’s how petty and vindictive and sick ocelot is.

lets not forget about the fact that ocelot was involved in les enfants terribles. in light of everything else ocelot does i find this so suspect. i dont think its really a reach to conclude that he had an ulterior motive getting involved in that project. big boss didnt return his feelings, but what if he could groom david or eli to?

in the post-credits scene with kaz ocelot more or less says that hes going to spend the rest of his life watching over david and eli. ocelot probably had a lot more involvement in eli’s life that we never saw but thats a lot of speculation… there is one concrete thing that proves ocelot was probably attracted to bb’s sons though. in mgs4, during the final fight, where he kisses snake:

and before you say that this is liquid ocelot and not ocelot, this kiss scene can ONLY trigger in the part of the liquid ocelot fight where it calls back to mgs3 and ocelot is coming back to himself. AFTER he’s been injecting himself with nanomachine suppressors and undoing the liquid brainwashing. he ONLY wants to kiss solid snake after his identity returns…

so, you dont think its a little bit messed up that this man participated in a project to clone a man who hes canonically attracted to… and then displays attraction to his children too??? ocelot helped make david and eli. he’s basically one of his parents. he helped raise them, directly and later indirectly. how is this not child grooming? ocelot loved big boss, but was rejected by big boss, then involved himself in a science experiment to clone him, then spent the rest of his life watching over and shaping the lives of these kids. umm….

i mean, think about it… what do you think ocelot got out of les enfants terribles? why would ocelot, who is otherwise so loyal to big boss that he would and does die for him, betray him like that?

kind of problematic, huh. :/

ocelot tortured people. he murdered people. he raped meryl, and probably others too. he destroyed kaz’s life out of jealousy. i think ocelot probably abused liquid, and likely solidus too.

i think ocelot is an interesting character… but hes a really bad person. i think if you look at all of this and try to defend him or even identify AS him… you kinda need to take a look at yourself imo. either you’re claiming that you too are a murderer, a sadist, a rapist, and an abuser, or you’re an apologist, erasing every horrible thing that ocelot did. whats wrong with you?

Hence, Asuka Tanaka

Asuka’s story has been teased throughout Hibike! Euphonium’s entirety, even before Kyoto Animation even knew they were going to be animating this arc. I’m not going to talk about the arc in its entirety, but rather two or three specific moments where the story, the character’s emotions, and the animation align perfectly to make them some of the best moments the studio has created. Credit where credit is due, this came to me from B0bduh’s commentary on twitter (he’s a good writer)

As Kaori leaves Kumiko and Asuka she bends down to tie Asuka’s shoe. The way this scene changes almost feels out of place. The color palette, which before had been made of blues, greens, and muted browns becomes harsh and yellow. Asuka is shown in dark shadow, yet only a few seconds later the conversation continues as though nothing had happened. So I have to ask, “Why was this scene like that?”

EP 3 rage

I said it for short on my twitter account already but I need to say it here again. I want to push every ship aside. I don’t care about this for right now but I need to talk about Yurios feelings when Viktor whistled while Yuris performance.

First of all, I don’t think I need to adress that Yurio probably was set up to fail. There are plenty of people who talked about this already but I will try to make it short. (probably won’t work lmao)

Viktor gave Yurio a promise which he didn’t keep. It would have been bad enough if he gave him this promise when he as his age now. 15. But no, Yurio was about what? 12 at this time? He believed in this promise and he did his best to fulfill his part in it. For at least three years he he must have thought about it and remembered it and then suddenly, Viktor forgets it. Yurio has to chase after him to talk to him and even then he doesn’t care, which makes me so angry.  You don’t give a promise where the other person works very hard for you hold on to it and then suddenly say you have to do one more thing. It is just plain wrong, but enough about this.

I have so much respect for Yurio actually saying yes to the new challenge. He had hopes and this just because he wanted to get better and win and he knew Viktor could help him a lot with it, but he didn’t care about this 15 year old anymore. He wanted to coach someone who he never had much contact with before an only saw one performance of him that amazed him. (Gosh I am rambling way too much I need to fast forward a little)

Anyways, on to the different songs. I won’t talk too much about it. Eros is easy to understand when you know what it means. Sexual love. Okay. Finished. But then there is Agape, unconditional love. If you would ask me, even I would struggle to understand and explain it.

I won’t talk about it choreography wise. I have no idea about that and i have to say I really liked both so on to my next point.

Yurio had a lot of struggle finding out what Agape ment for him. He didn’t only had to train a lot, he actualy was punished for not understanding it. Okay, here i get that Viktor only did this to help him find his Agape but still…

I guess I should skip to the performance then. Of course I will start with Yurios. I honestly think up to this point this boy still had a little hope that he could win it. He found his Agape. He knew what he was skating for. He knew the steps and he knows he is a great skater so he could pull it of, but during to performance you hear his internal strugle. He apologizes to his grandfather because he can’t think about him while doing it and this it because he is so nervous. He probably never was so nervous.  He wants the song and his performance to end. He can’t bear it anymore and that just breaks my heart. This 15 year old boy just jealized that he was put up to fail just because Viktor didn’t want to tell him that he didn’t want to coreograph a number for him.

Yuris performance. It sarts. Yuri looks at Viktor and he fucking whisles. I know all you shippers got a heart attack during this. I first though it was okay too, but then I thought about Yurio. He of course saw and heard it. He had such a hard time with his performance already. He felt he did it bad and of course Viktor said it was good but nothing more. He didn’t hug him, he didn’t even pat his back and not even constructive criticism. Just nothing and then he hears this whistle and knows it is over. The performance only started and Viktor was impressed. This little heart must have hurt so much. He fought for years for Virktor to only do a choreo for him and than this random japanese Yuri pops up, doesn’t have to do anything and Viktor wants to coach him. Not just d a choreo. HE WANTS TO BE HIS FREAKIN COACH!  Yurio might be a little immature from time to time with all the yeling and being agressiv but in this moment you see how mature he actually is. I bet he had to deal with a lot of crap in his life and this gave him so much hope and it was crushed again.

He left then and I understand that. What I again dont understand is, that Viktor wouldn’t hold him back for at least the ceremony.

I don’t hate Viktor even though it might seem like it a little, but I lost a ton of respect for him this episode.. It just makes me sick how he treated Yurio when you look deeper into everything..

You got me on boku no hero academia, after reblogging some pics of dad might and i thought it was cute the parental relationship between the skeleton funny drawn man and the green protag, then i got more info and i fell in love with everything about dad might(dont talk to me or my 326 children again) and then i watched the series. Thank you so much, this is one of the most fiewhf things ever

Dad Might is the best Might~!!!!

I’m really glad you enjoyed bnha so much! It’s basically been all I could think about these past few days XD And if I have enough motivation tonight, I might just update (or at least start writing) the next chapter of All Right. Some cute Dad Might headcanons as a thank you for talking to me:

- aro!ace!Dad Might had long ago given up on the possibility of having a family, even though it’s something he’s craved since he was young. And then he meets Izuku, with his sharp mind and his heart of gold and his smile of sunshine, and his heart breaks. Because Izuku is EVERYTHING he’d never dared to hope for in a son, and All Might is shocked at how badly he craves that parental relationship with his young student. He has to constantly remind himself not to overstep his boundaries.

- In another world, where All for One didn’t exist and All Might didn’t lose his stomach, he would still choose Izuku as his successor. But without his injuries draining away all his life energy, the last dregs of One For All last in All Might for several years. Long enough that after Izuku graduates UA, they can fight together as hero and sidekick for a short time, long enough for Izuku to learn the ropes and make a name for himself before his mentor has to leave his side

- The media assumes Izuku is All Might’s son and neither of them denies it. And it’s totally just because that’s the most convenient excuse for why their quirks are so similar. Lol there’s no way it’s because they both love the idea of being parent and child. Hahaha. Right.

- Izuku totally gives All Might a “World’s #1 Dad” shirt for father’s day. All Might wears it to class the very next day. Izuku dies of embarrassment. All his classmates are looking at him meaningfully. Everyone knows he’s All Might’s son.

- After the chapter 95 hug, Izuku sometimes likes to go up and hug All Might if either of them are feeling down. Which would be weird for most Japanese people. But people give them some slack because All Might lived in America for a long time, and Izuku probably grew up there (or so everyone assumes) and everyone knows how affectionate Americans are.

Hey! Great blog. Could you explain how Dyscalculia affects someone's performance in other subjects besides math (like reading, foreign language) and daily life?

thanks :) ok im gonna try to give my best answer but i do have other learning problems and sometimes its hard to seperate them from dyscalculia but i shall try my best. its also different for everyone.

I personally have no problems reading. Im a very fast reader. writing however is really tough for me. I can not see when words are misspelled and I tend to flip letters like b and d. i also have a really dificult time with remembering the concepts of grammar. in English class this can become a real problem. its also hard for me to organize essays but i think that might be a different problem. i know that there are a lot of cases where people have both dyslexia and dyscalculia so that affects reading but its a different problem.

history class is a biggie though. one of the symptoms of dyscalculia is having difficulty picturing and understanding timelines. so when learning about major historical events it can be really hard to understand the relationships between different events if you cant remember which event came first. its also a problem for quizes. you cant remember dates or get them all flipped around and mixed up. another problem with dyscalculia is connecting names to faces. for me this shows up most in history class because i can never remember which famouse person did what.

ok foreign languages is a weird one. when i was younger i was part of a french immursion program and had no problems learning to speak it. but in high school i started taking japanese. ok im gonna branch off a little to do a comparison. in elementary school we have to memorize all the times tables up to twelve times twelve. most kids just read down a list over and over and over again. or they use flashcards. a lot of languages are taught the same way. it doesnt work. at least it didnt for me. so after my two required years i quit. basically they gave me a passing grade for effort. sorry im not going into more detail here this particular subject was extremely complicated for me personally and i dont wanna over explain.

ok so i dunno if this is a class at normal schools but music class is really affected. like in third grade i would have to pretend to know how to play the recorder because i couldent remember how to read the music. i also had to pretend to know all the words to the songs. later when i was in seventh grade i started to take piano lessons. I loved it. I loved making music but I learned by watching the fingers of my teachers not by reading the music and i had to fake being able to read music, its difficult when its just you and the teacher, so i was yelled at a lot. so i quit.

i cant think of any other classes that were hugely affected for me but i have a really really weird school history and its hard to trace back and understand everything that was going on.

so onto daily life.

ok reading maps is really tough cause you get all turned around and you dont know which way is what way and it gets all confusing. same with directions in general. its really easy to get lost. its really hard to look for/ remember an address even your own. leading to embarrassing moments

when people ask for my birthday I panic and flip numbers. leading to more embarrassing moments. I also tell people im in the wrong grade a lot because i cant remember which grade a freshmen or a junior is.

it is impossible to read clocks. this is particularly dreadful because if you, like me cannot remember your class schedule (even after three years). if you ask a teacher when class ends or how long you have left to complete a task. they will often chuckle and point at the clock or ask me why i havent learned my schedule yet. then i have to come up with some lame reason like “i dont know when we started” or “i dunno when class ends” which is true but they find funny. you cant say that you cant read a clock. i have to count by fives to read them. and i have to use my finger to point at which five im at so i dont get mixed up.

thank god my best friend has a habit of remembering every detail about my life so he can tell me what class i have next.

this inability to read clocks makes it really difficult to be on time. and it makes the whole process really stressful. for example if im taking an art class and its pretty far from my house. i will make my parents drive me there a couple times taking different routes before the class starts so i can figure out how long traffic takes and what way is faster so i can get there early but not so early as to be embarrassed. this actually happened a couple weeks ago but the commute was so anxiety inducing for me i had to quit the class. this problem makes me always late or always early. it also means that its easy to lose track of time, or have any sort of time management skills.

indirectly dyscalculia can cause anger problems, low self esteem, anxiety stuff like that.

oh my god this became really really long. but im still not sure if im being thorough enough. if any one has any other questions feel free to ask. this makes me happy

sorry if the writing isnt all that great. if something doesnt make sense ask me and i will try to clarify.

oh also i didnt really talk about how this affects getting a job because the post is already really long

Every now and then I see in different fandoms people addressing facts that certain anime or manga series is misogynist, racist, sexist, transphobic, treats women bad, homophobic ect. ect. While addressing these and pointing out stuff that could be better - as long as it doesn’t turn into a war zone of what’s right and what’s wrong, especially when we deal about art and art has always been, and still is, using problematic themes and issues - there’s rarely any talk of why certain Japanese series are problematic in the way they are.

I hope this helps you to understand at least a little bit why there are often so many problematic things present in manga/anime and what they actually tell about the society producing them.

To put it VERY SIMPLE WAY: It’s because manga and anime are Japanese popular culture materials, made by Japanese people to Japanese audience.  ALL form of popular art is ALWAYS a representation of that specific culture producing them to the culture’s inhabitants.

So, what are some of the flaws in Japanese society? You guessed right; misogyny, racism, nationalism, sexism, transphobia and homophobia.

The whole country treats its population in very questionable way, which could be called perhaps as “an enslavement to the society without using your own will”. People don’t exist as unique individuals and being too individual is a big no-no for the general audience. People are seen as a one mass that needs to do, live, act and think the certain way. Society (including government) gives you this certain path from birth to death and you are expected to follow it without questioning or taking side steps from it. Anyone sticking out in any way is tried to push back into the mold. Changes and new things aren’t welcomed. This is actually a problem in nation wide there, as many science areas are battling with the problem of “we need here new scientist from abroad to take these studies further, but the society and working company doesn’t accept them, because they’re not Japanese”. This problem roots also from governmental level.

Women are under men, foreigner are under women and foreigner women are pretty much under everything. Go to live in Japan, marry there, spend 50 years there till the day you die, and you are still preferred as a foreigner. You can never become a Japanese.

Women are supposed to sacrifice their whole lives for men and their children.  They are meant to be modest toys, that look after household and that do ANYTHING for man’s attention, at any age. Anything. Surprisingly all my strong willed Japanese female friends between 25 - 45, who decide for themselves that they want to do, are single (Also my Japanese male friends who don’t see eye to eye with Japan’s gender roles are single).

Sex is very shush shush and at the same time super casual in a way that wife will pay her husband’s prostitution service bills along side other house bills as “no big deal”. Sex is seen as something everyone needs, same way as eating or sleeping. Birth control is completely woman’s responsibility and many men refuse to use condoms. You can see these “do me raw and make me pregnant”-fantasies in all porn comics, as man is still a true man when he’s capable of making a woman pregnant. Men are taught that woman says “no” and means “no” but other cases she says “no” but means “yes”. Sexual harassment and domestic violence are every day issues for women.

Transpeople and different genders and sexual orientations “don’t exist” so to say. They’re not accepted in any way, though I just recently heard (last month??) about Japan’s first officially married lesbian couple (wonderful news!). They’re something to make fun of to keep up the society’s standard’s of what accepted and normal, and what’s not. That’s why so many gay characters are jokes or seen as something to loathe (especially by other male characters).

If you thought the big collection of yaoi everywhere would tell something about general audience accepting gays, you thought sadly wrong (though in the history samurais had male lovers and it was essential part of samurai culture). Yaoi is meant for female audience to get some grasp of men, as interacting with opposite sex/gender in Japan is seen automatically as dating. Just go and talk 5 minutes to a person from opposite sex and everyone is dead sure there’s something going on, you are a couple and keep asking have you confessed your love already. Many adults in Japan are actually virgin and art is one of the the only ways - if not only - to explore the sexuality of themselves and the opposite sex. It’s nothing uncommon a normal adult man’s only concept of female body and sex with females comes from porn manga, and normal adult woman’s only concept of male body and male sex comes from drama CDs. There’s a good reason why these things sell in Japan!

These are some of the general society norms, written here very shortly and in a simple way. Individual differences are always present, absolutely, like for example my Japanese female friends which don’t fit in any standard Japanese norm - and about my own culture, I’m a representative of someone who doesn’t fit the basic cultural norms of my home country. So don’t take this as “everything and everyone in Japan is like this”, because that’s not true, and remember; ALL countries, societies and cultures have their issues and themes they could do better in.

haruka nanase, aged 18

know how to user the computer!!!!!

haru knows how to use the computer AND EVEN the internet. he can even type in the address. and write a blog. in fact he’s p popular on pixiv.

(altho he prefers drawr or tegaki because uploading pictures on pixiv is bothersome)

aaaaaaaaaand at first he was drawing only water and water stuff like oceans and waterfalls, and people LOVED THEM (and still do!!) because they were not only aesthetically beautiful but also had Soul, as if the artist was born in that place and knew everything about it. he’s kinda known as that wild dude who draws rad-ass water pics….. but is lazy as heck, as people realised when someone told him to release a book and he was like, ……..that would require me doing addional work. mmmmmgh

The Middle School Bullshit Kind Of Romance

Anonymous asked you: I have an idea for a hetastuck fic for you. Set when they hated one another. Homestuck steals Hetalia’s first kiss, then gets punched in the face for it.

i really love this idea omg i just didnt have access to a computer for extended periods of time until like a week ago but i hope i did it justice! i think i rushed it tho DDDD: but its gonna be in 2 parts! but thank you for this prompt! also merry christmas everyone (or if you dont celebrate it, happy holidays or happy winter break :>>>)

Hetalia is a lot of things. He’s attractive- cute, hot, and everything in between. It’s hardly a hushed thing anymore, everyone seems to know it except for the fandom himself. A shame, really, because if someone told him he could stop wearing that worn out bomber jacket that stays glued to his shoulders at all hours.

Hetalia is smart. On history and geography, mostly. He can learn a new language easily though, and he speaks Japanese, English, and Italian fluently. He’s working on German and Russian though, lugging these books all around campus.

But most of all, he still thinks like a troll at 4 sweeps. Not in the stack-two-Pringles-and-become-a-duck way, but in the 5th grade bullshit crush way. The way that people piss off the person they like just to get their attention. The way that Hetalia has been addressing Homestuck ever since they first met.

Joke’s on Hetalia though, because he’s had Homestuck’s attention this entire time.
