not good at justifying why i like people

anonymous asked:

Why is rich x Michael called expensive headphones? Why Deere? Why that ship name? Deere is not a good ship name. Do not support. Also why ship these ships? Like I'm all for my boys being happy but I can't think of anything in the musical that would have sparked or inferenced a future relationship? Like I just don't get it? Also I have trouble multishipping and I'm a hardcore RichJake and Boyf Riends shipper so that probs it but I usually understand why people ship other ships and I don't w/this?

maybe bc people like different character dynamics + can see past canon possibilities lol

This is actually really controversial and I will get hate for this which is why I went anon but I think most of the people who actually listen to Kpop are doing that not because they appreciate quality music but because they like the way idols look. I mean, if they really did it for music, there are a lot of other countries to actually produce as good music as them but! Noone listens to their music Because 'no good looking people'. So, when people justify it by saying they don't let language ba

Language barriers interfere in their music listening hobby/activity, I don’t think they are being very genuine.. just an unpopular opinion.

i think the point with kpop is not whether they’re good looking or not, or it’s not even about the language, but it’s about the whole package? like, kpop is not only about music, this is why kpop artists are called ‘idols’ more likely than ‘singers’ or ‘musicians’. in kpop dancing plays a huge part of performance, i would say it’s just as important as singing, not to mention the whole act that idols have to put after performances - they have so much more work to do than regular singers. but thanks to this they gain fans and popularity, people get into their personalities just as much as they get into their music/dancing, because they put themselves out there. so in a sense i think people really do mean that the language is not a barrier for them if it comes to kpop, but of course looks have huge importance in the industry as well.

Hey dude how do you feel about all the pewdiepie drama lately? Honestly I still love him, he made mistakes trying to make a joke and he realized what he did was not cool and apologised. I dont think he deserves all the backslashes and hate he's gotten. But anyway what do you think?

(this post is talking to people generally, not specifically to you, the person who asked. :>)

cuz I’m getting so many asks on it.

I was in California for when this situation happened in Long Beach comicon from an event I literally came back from tonight, and I’m, both disgusted, and I’m not even surprised that this happened. If anything, I’m surprised it took so long for everyone else to finally chip in and see the vulgarity that the media is placing on Pewdiepie.

I watch Pewdiepie’s videos every day. I also watch him more often and favor him over literally any other channel for he’s even apart of my daily routine. I wake up, watch the new vid that came out, and then draw. He’s by far my favorite channel, (I know, CRAZY! innocent little me doesn’t seem like the type to enjoy his entertainment, but I truly do, and will be a bro forever. XD lolol) and because I’ve been actively watching him without fail as a big fan of him for the past year, I’ve seen from the beginning how the media has placed attack after attack on him, warping what he says out of context to make him out to be a monster, when he is infact NOT. because I would watch the videos first and see the context of his videos before the media threw lies at him. The proof, in my opinion, is undeniable that pewdiepie is being attacked. It’s actually because of how I see raw proof of evidence of how disgusting the media is that I don’t trust a lot of news I see anywhere, even regarding politics because the media targets that like it’s a gold mine. (because for them it is. it’s all about money to the media, NOT morals or standers, click bate and ad rev and controling people’s views and opinions so they can keep wracking in more money for later scandalous news articles and reports. it’s all a fake greedy glutenous ploy for money.) So seeing what happens to pewdiepie, I don’t trust most media, because they are the same people that make news on everything, even to people I don’t always agree with or support such as Donald Trump. I will say that I am definitely not a Trump supporter, but the media does the same thing to him as they are doing to Pewdiepie, they are in the same position, Just… food for thought…

Now when I say this, I want to make it clear that my point when I say this is that, be careful what you believe when it comes to hollywood, news, the media, the press, even when it comes to people you hate, or love.

I may be only 22, so it’s probably not saying much when I say this, but I have NEVER seen the media, the press, news, even the bias of some teachers in education, Hollywood, etc become so full of lies, let alone people be so GULLIBLE as to believe whomever gets to them first, and then believe it without question, or do any background check, or research. The people that think Pewdiepie is what the media is making him out to be, is just as ridiculous to me as the media itself who is accusing him of these horrendous labels. Like seriously, the least you can do is watch his videos to actually see what’s going on. it takes all of 15 minutes. I don’t understand how people can be so disgustingly violent and ready to believe and hate and disrespect someone so quickly just because someone pointed the finger to them, let alone with false evidence, when they have NO idea what the story is? HOW Can you people be so hypocritical to call someone scum, and then act like scum, TO SOMEONE WHO IS INNOCENT!

basically, the media is disgusting, and I’ve seen it’s vulgarity for a while, and I find the people that believe it to be wrong too, especially when they spread hate themselves and lets the media control their views.

Look, I’m not saying that Pewdiepie’s jokes were in good taste, and that labeling it as “oh it’s just a joke” justifies the bad joke he made, and I can understand why it would be offensive to some. but an offensive joke is something worth forgiving, that’s just a mistake, and it’s a COMMON mistake that many do, everyone is guilty. it only matters because he’s in the public eye. like it’s not like he raped someone, or committed murder. and unlike those things, a joke, does NOT define a person for what they truly believe in, that’s why it’s a “joke”. So to call pewdiepie any of the horrendous names that the media is labeling him under, is absolute slander and bull, it’s disgusting, it’s inhumane considering the fact that it’s literally an all out attack to give attempts in ruining his career, Just So the media can make money off of a story that isn’t even true.

I see other’s such as Markiplier, Jacksepticeye, h3h3, CToastKen, even The Amazing Atheist who hates pewdiepie, etc. defending pewdiepie, and these hypocritical “social justice warriors” who’s blindly follow the horrific media trying to tear down Markiplier and all who defend pewdiepie with hate, and calling them homophobic, racist, nazi, kkk, antisemetic etc. I even saw people accusing Markiplier, one of the most genuine and respectful people on youtube’s platform, being called these things today…So originally, being a small tiny youtuber in comparison to the giant youtubers who are being attacked just for defending a friend who is innocent…. I was scared to talk about this subject, because unlike them, a lot of hate for me defending pewdiepie can seriously hurt my channel…. And chances are, I will receive hate for this post, and will be labeled the same things as them. but ya know what?… I don’t care… And if people don’t agree with me and think I’m a homophobe, or a sexist, or a racist, and attack people and tell people to go die over a situation you don’t even know, (despite that I’m a female, feminist, liberal that is apart of the LGBT community) you can gladly unsub to me if you so desire. And I will respect that. because respect, is important. it’s not easy to respect someone you don’t agree with, or even someone who hurts you, it definitely takes the bigger person to respect something you don’t agree with, And it seems like a lost trait these days…

So I’m ready and prepared for whatever is thrown at me once I click that little blue button saying “post” in the bottom right corner of my post.

I completely 100,000% defend Pewdiepie, and stand firmly by him. The Media is disgusting.

ENTJ-  You scare me. You are such and incredible leader, how do you do that?? But also I hate authority and feel a need to disagree with you at every turn because you’re so bossy. You’re not as cool as you think you are, but you’re almost as cool as you think you are and that’s pretty damn cool. Be my friend.

ENTP- Fuckin’ chill out you memelord. You’re either coasting through life or putting WAY to much effort into shit. You’re a bit of a narcissistic fuck but you’re still my favourite type (*coughs*). You’re too excitable and too much of a dick and you’re personality doesn’t make sense. Stop being mean to you’re friends. Learn to be more comfortable with emotions, it’ll be important later on in life. Be the friend that can cheer others up with jokes when they don’t really wanna talk about what’s wrong.

INTJ- You’re cool, you get shit done and you’re a bit of a supervillian. What’s not to love? You’re a rare bird. There aren’t many of you out there, but you are important. If you weren’t here, who else would the ENFP’s annoy? You’re a behind the scenes leader most of the time, pulling the strings from a safe (and smart distance) but you aren’t afraid to get you’re hands dirty. You’re good at shit. But don’t forget, you’re not superhuman. Remember other people have these pesky things called emotions, be wary of them STILL i want you to be proud of you’re inherent assholeness.

INTP-  Mad scientist. I’m constantly searching for your approval because of my unresolved daddy issues and it freaks me out. Yes, you are a daddy. Some of you have your heads shoved up a little too far in you’re own arse. Just because you’re introverted and intuitive and darn cold, does not make you better than others honey. Basically, you’re a condescending shit. But hey I still put you on this weird pedestal, so we’re both guilty. You’re the genius on tv shows that isn’t diagnosed but falls on the aspergers spectrum somewhere.

ENFJ-  Baby, I worship the ground you walk on. You are so cool, calm and controlled while still being awesome, enthusiastic and excitable. Don’t be my friend, date me. But stop trying to fix everything. Think about yourself a lil okay buddy, and use logic sometimes too. Actually scratch all that, you’re perfect, I love you.

ENFP-  You are a beautiful, annoying bastard. You’re too nice and I don’t feel comfortable making mean jokes at your expense (because you’d probably take it seriously and cry yourself to sleep), but you have effortless charm. Stop thinking about the individual and start thinking about the bigger picture, you’re not realistic. Be my friend, but not like close friend, y'know.

INFP-  Hello, the human equivalent of tumblr. Fuck. People either love you or hate you. I don’t know where I fall on that scale tbh. Sometimes you’re just a little too much honey, I’m not sensitive enough for you. Other times you are too precious for this world and I just wanna wrap you up in a blanket and protect you. I am strangely attracted to you despite how awkward you probably think you are. You have a lot of knowledge in that head of yours. Be that person I have a weird co-dependant relationship with, that really isn’t healthy but I can’t exactly live without you and I’m not sure why.

INFJ- Ah INFJ, I haven’t met many of you but BOY, are the ones I know pretentious. You’re one of the least common MBTI type, and you probably know and take pride in this. You’re good at reading people, I know, but you can just talk to me instead of analyse from a distance bud. You’re ultimately very cool and creative, a little bit of a know it all but it’s justified. You’re a sweet bundle of joy and I love you. Be my best friend. You’re good at being a friend. Really good.

ESFP-  I like you a lot kid, you remind me of a younger me. We shouldn’t get along but I love/envy you. You’re caring and you have a great childlike spirit. Make some art and ramble to me some more. I seriously appreciate you so much. You bring me back down to  the ‘now’ with you’re crazy impulsive attitude and caring demeanour. Just learn to listen to me a lil more when I tell you you’re thinking with you’re heart instead of you’re brain again. You do it a lot, buddy. Be my lover.

ESTP-  You’re cool man. You’re Ferris Bueler. You’re a salesman that’s constantly selling me on your personality. Look we get it, you’re good with one liners and you’re athletic and everyone loves you, but also hey, think about others you little sociopathic flirt. Also, sometimes people really DO know more than you, I know! Crazy. Be my Idol.

ISFP-  You probably reaallly like music. Chill out buddy, I don’t know much about you but you seem stressed and too fierce for ur adorable demeanour. I know you are your own individual beautiful creative person, you don’t need to tell me. People DO care about you, i know sometimes you doubt that, but you got this life in the bad. You’ll probably never grow out of your angsty teen years tbh but it’s okay, find yourself an ISFJ and you’ll be okay.

ISTP-  So you’re just as cool but less attainable, loner ESTP. You’re in control of your own everything but also out of control and mildly self destructive? Be the mysterious kid I rarely talk to, but everytime I do I fall in love with you a little bit.

ESFJ-  Hey there soldier. In the best case scenario, you’re cutie Monica Geller, that’s a lil anal and mildly manipulative but really! very! sweet!. In the worst case scenario you are literally my worst nightmare. Your the squad’s glue tho. Sometimes you offer a cool third perspective, but you over simplify things and don’t try to understand my crazy theories and that’s annoying. Learn to get over yourself a lil, stop playing the victim buddy and compromise. Be my friend in a few years when you learn to self reflect better.

ESTJ-  You’re a manipulative bitch. You’re so judgemental, you’re Rachel McAdams in Mean Girls. You’re pretty cool. Even more of a rampant psycho than ENTJ. I don’t like you all that much (and something tells me you don’t really care) but I respect you a LOT. Stay a safe distance away from me and please don’t judge me. You’re too savage.

ISFJ-  Hey my emo saviour. You understand everybody and nobody truly understands you. You’re the reliable Colin Firth that the world of Bridget Jones’s run to after their crazy escapades with Hugh Grant. Just remember to have standards baby, and don’t accept everyone that runs into you’re arms. You’re worth more than what most people are willing to give. Be my favourite sweet emotional little kid brother (even if you are female.)

ISTJ-  You say 'interesting’ a lot. If life were a tv show, you’d be a sassy little hate muffin that tumblr idolised that everyone would remark didnt get enough screen time. You’re all business and sometimes you should let down that gaurd fam :) Think about people a little bit more bud. I respect you. I’ll be your friend! But it will probably take three years to build up our relationship and it will probably be accidental, but im here for u anyway.

I am so tired of seeing everyone shit on Keith because Shiro asked him to lead Voltron if things go south in season 2? Like really just so tired of watching people say the same rude things to justify why he would be a bad leader (which really aren’t even justifications at all?) lmao you’re not cute or original.

So let’s talk about why Keith would actually be a good leader for Voltron, please and thanks:

  • We know that Shiro has been like a mentor for Keith, both pre-series and during the show (”Remember; patience yields focus”)
  • That being said, it means that Shiro has been there for him as he has grown and matured (excluding the time he was held captive, obviously)
    • While Keith is not at the fullest capacity to lead due to his poor impulse control and hot-headedness, it doesn’t mean that he will never get to that stage of maturity and rationality
    • It means that Shiro obviously sees those qualities in Keith (which is why he put this responsibility on his shoulders) and challenges him to hone them, which will in turn force him to grow as a character to become more level-headed and rational, as a leader needs to be
  • I mean y’all are so quick to make positive posts about your faves’ character developments but refuse to think that Keith is going to have an arc that transforms him and pushes him to focus on his leadership qualities and what is best for the team? bye lmao
  • Keith actually already knows how to think of the greater good; he argued against going to save Allura because it would be hand delivering the universe’s greatest weapon to Zarkon, something Allura has said can never happen
    • Yes, it was seen as callous and cold, but strategic-wise? Actually a smart move to avoid sending the universe’s last hope straight into the hands of the evil alien mastermind who has been conquering everyone left, right, and center for the past 10,000 years
  • The kid is dedicated to his teammates in every way possible
    • At the end of the first ep, he says “It’s been on honor flying with you boys” like ?? they had their lions together for 10 minutes and Keith is talking like they’ve gone through a hundred and three battles together? he loves his peeps
    • Flies through an asteroid field to get Lance’s lion back when Nyma and Rolo were a bunch of sneaks
    • Gets all up in Zarkon’s business for attacking Shiro
      • Point being that the Black Lion takes “someone whose men will follow without hesitation"
      • Keith has proven that he is dedicated to his fellow paladins, and they have proven the same to him
  • When the time comes that leadership is needed in Shiro’s absence, is it really that far of a stretch to believe that the other paladins will follow Keith, who Shiro has been grooming for this kind of position already?
    • the answer is no, it’s not that hard to believe, so y’all can shove your ‘he’s hot-headed and an idiot bc he just rushes into things’ logic somewhere else it’s called character development let the second season actually air before making assumptions that just make an ass out of u and me! sound good?
  • In the original series, Keith literally is the leader of Voltron lmao sucks to suck it’s gonna be canon anyway just give it time

sometimes I see people comparing their friendships to dan and phil's relationship (mostly with the intention of justifying their actions and making it a totally platonic thing) and I start to evaluate my friendships, like... why won't my friends treat me that good? getting new friends asap :/

Maybe just stop assuming that other people have friendships that are that great, and start assuming all of those ‘friendships’ are actually just on chapter 13 of the 26 chapter slow burn friends-to-lovers WIP that is their life.

Why some people like Justin

Firstly, before anyone jumps on me, I am not saying what Justin did wasn’t fucked up - extremely fucked up , infact . I am not here to say what he did was forgivable, it’s not.

But since people don’t understand how someone can hate Hannah Baker, let me tell you why I don’t hate Justin, and why some people like him.

AND ITS NOT BECAUSE HE IS CUTE. Stop assuming that, not everyone has just sexualised Justin.

Just like Hannah, he is mentally ill. He may not have severely depression like Hannah but he was mentally damaged too.

Justin is from a broken and damaged household - he didn’t get the love a child deserves from his parents, and he was abused. And just like Hannah, he would have been depressed and would have killed himself too , if he didn’t have Bryce and the his other teammates to cling onto.

Because all the love he got was from the rapist and friends, he valued his friendship with Bryce way more than he should. That’s why , even though he didn’t want Hannah’s picture to be shared, he didn’t fight with Bryce on it.

When Jessica came into his life, he found someone who loved him - even with his broken past- beside Bryce. That’s why when Bryce suggested he entered the Jess’s room, he felt conflicted - he couldn’t choose between two relationships he valued the most. A few minutes later, his moral conduct kicked in and he went to kick Bryce out.

But that’s not what I wanna talk about - it’s not a behaviour anyone can justify- I want to talk about how he improved. He may look cocky from out, but he is fragile and deeply scared - but he still went ahead and decided to change himself.

He broke his connection in the end , with Bryce , even though he knew that would make him homeless.

He decided to do change, for good.
I don’t think he is appreciated enough for that, not even the slightest bit.

And this is why some people like him, because his character improvement is great and he changed, even if it was too late according to some of you.

anonymous asked:

Why would Varys consider Kevan a good man considering he was the loyal underling of a cruel tyrant like Tywin?

Let’s examine the scene:

“Ser Kevan. Forgive me if you can. I bear you no ill will. This was not done from malice. It was for the realm. For the children…This pains me, my lord. You do not deserve to die alone on such a cold dark night. There are many like you, good men in service to bad causes…but you were threatening to undo all the queen’s good work, to reconcile Highgarden and Casterly Rock, bind the Faith to your little king, unite the Seven Kingdoms under Tommen’s rule.”

As I’ve said before, Varys is an arch-utilitarian who doesn’t blink at the idea of building Utopia by spilling an ocean of blood and raising up a mountain of skulls. Hell, this is a man who mutilates children so that they can’t betray his secrets, who does it “for the children” - and he’s not insane or lying, he’s weighed the short-term costs in human lives versus the long-term gains of a complete remaking of the social order by enlightened despot. (Incidentally, this is why utilitarian revolutionaries are so dangerous, because their faith in the future justifies any atrocity.)

So how would someone like that look at Kevan?

I don’t think Varys would object to Tywin’s methods as much as his goals and his frame of reference - Tywin was fighting for the glory of House Lannister rather than for the greater good; his efforts to keep the Seven Kingdoms together with war and war crimes would have been undone by Joffrey’s unstable tyranny or Tommen’s well-intentioned weakness or Cersei’s paranoia and misgovernment; and none of these people have the very precise training and worldview that would allow them to be a “perfect prince” who could make systemic change. Hence the “bad cause.”

At the same time, when Kevan took control, he didn’t act for his own benefit but to strengthen the crown and restore order in the capitol - by rebuilding the alliance between House Lannister and House Tyrell that gave the regime its political constituency and military hegemony, by ending the clash between Faith and Throne that was dividing the body politic and threatening further uprisings. Varys sees that as the actions of a “good man,” one who looks out “for the realm.”

yes I am aware that the situation w Warmbier has major geopolitical implications that will undoubtedly be long-lasting but no I’m not going to be writing up long-ass posts like everyone else on this site about whether or not it was good that he died or whatever because frankly that’s not worth my time. there are more important things to worry about. when I see people in the west say shit like this:

it strikes me as a bit more concerning than tumblr posts written up by 20-somethings who have no personal stake in the matter. Warmbier’s treatment and death–regardless of what actually happened–will be used to further justify imperialism and people are calling for the US to once again level North Korea and kill millions, all because of the death of one American dude. that is why my opinion hasn’t changed as a result of all this: I don’t think that bombing North Korea “into the ground” will fix anything and I don’t think that millions of people deserve to die or be displaced

anonymous asked:

aah what a good day to remember that keith is 16 and visualizing him in sexual situations, especially with an adult, is disgusting and also illegal wow breathe that fresh air

Ah, what a day to see people like you still think fictional characters = real people.

But okay I’ll bite I’m in a fantastic mood. All the sheith and shaladin ships made my day so now I’ll share my happiness with you whether you like it or not.

So you still believe Shiro is over 20+? First off, it’s your HC so you do you idc but you’re trying to force me to see it YOUR way? Huh, you don’t care that I don’t agree and sent a hate mail to showcase your intolerance of my opinions in MY blog? Whoa so petty of you like chill man go take a break or something before you hurt yourself with your shitty self-entitlement issues.

And wow, I guess Dreamworks and VLD’s official statements about “5 teenagers” are wrong in ALL of their SOURCES. Whoa I wonder why they don’t ever talk about or even acknowledge that disgusting cringy video ya’ll worship like the Lord itself. Hmm~?

Now throwing your shitty logic back at you.

If fictional characters = real people. Then I cannot believe how disgusting YOU are for visually sexualizing Keith (who you think is 16) a poor UNDERAGE minor with another UNDERAGE minor like Lance or Hunk or Pidge in obscene SEXUAL BEHAVIOR.

“B-But it’s okay because th-they are around th-the same age!” You cry out as you try to justify your double standards between your (deem to be) “good” ship versus my (you think is) “bad” ship.

Wow you legit just implied you like underage porn with underage kids like fucking gross that’s illegal too btw wtf gtfo you voyeuristic pedo. THINK OF THE FUCKING CHILDREN YOU PRICK HOW DARE YOU DO THIS TO KEITH HE’S ONLY 16 WTF YOU LIKE SEEING HIM GETTING VIOLATED BY ANOTHER 16 OR WORSE 17 YEAR OLD? THOSE ARE KIDS YOU’RE LOOKING AT GROSS!1!1

See that? Now I sounded just like you–good thing I don’t believe a single lick of your shitty bullshit or care about fictional characters in sexual or other types of situations since fictional characters =/= real people. No real person is being forced into a relationship with another real person. It’s just 2+ fictional fake people getting together in a fake universe in a fake storyline. If you can’t handle that then you need help or parent-lock your pc to stop you from seeing anything fictional online.

I ship whatever I want. And I love shipping Shiro with nearly every single character in Voltron so I’ll keep doing that thanks. I never cared about height/weight/age/race/etc of characters–just their personality and color schemes in comparison to other characters. Nor am I shallow or petty to attack other shippers over their opinions or HCs in their tags or blogs like you.

The reason why I don’t care is also simple: it’s because I personally do not let fiction AFFECT my sense of reality too drastically or warp it dramatically like you. That’s why I know how to tell the difference between the fiction I consume from the reality I live in.

Now when will you?

Because I’m still waiting for you antis to go attack Disney for showing little kids all the UNDERAGE Princesses getting into relationships and even marrying ADULT PRINCES in their movies like it’s totally okay. (And here’s the thing: it IS okay because it’s all FICTIONAL holy shit Disney knows the difference too!)

So why don’t you scurry on off and pretend your ship isn’t problematic in your shitty logic while I enjoy my ships that I know aren’t problematic in canon OR fanon. Because sending hate to shippers only proves how insecure you are in your ship and how petty and jealous you are about mine.

And it shows you fool so please keep sending more proof that my ships are just as fantastic like the decent shippers that ship them are–for we constantly are debunking your bs while still creating new fanart/fanfics to celebrate our ships.

Whoa can you imagine though? You’re chilling and in a great mood when suddenly an anti sends you hate in your ask like as if their opinion is the word of God and you are to obey and listen to them no questions asked–forget your own opinions and HCs while you’re at it.

Yeah right as if I ever will, especially to an anti, you are a shitty person and your opinion that you are trying to shove in my face is now shitty too.

Now begone from my blog and go pretend I didn’t just kick your arse–denial and immaturity seem to be the only things you’re good at so get to it.

Ah, sweet fresh air after the burn I gave you~

I think the reason people see Zuko's betrayal as "vital" for his redemption arc is bc not many fans realize that his fever was more than an ordinary fever. If you've ever watched Nostalgia Critic's reactions to Avatar, he and his brother talk about the betrayal and Zuko's behavior before that. Doug thought that Zuko seemed genuinely happy, but Rob got the impression that Zuko was trying to tell himself that he was happy, but deep down he wasn't. He also thought that Zuko only accepts life at

the tea shop bc he has no other option at that point, but when Azula tempts him w/ the offer of coming home, getting his honor, etc, Zuko relapses bc his obsession w/ capturing Aang is an addiction. To be fair, that’s how I saw it too when I first watched Avatar, and bc the fever is never addressed again in the series, a viewer would have no idea that it was actually a spiritual awakening and Zuko let go of his attachments. Even blind wave crew thought his behavior was disingenuous.

But your metas have given me so much to think about, and you’re the first person who has actually helped me make sense of Zuko’s fever and its significance. I think if more people knew that the fever was actually a spiritual awakening, they would realize that your theory of how the show would have played without the betrayal makes sense. So thanks :)

Thanks for saying that. I’m glad that I’ve been able to provide some explanation and offer some food for thought. :)

I have to admit that I always was bewildered by the argument that Zuko’s betrayal was “vital” for his development. To me it was always obvious that he underwent a profound emotional and psychological change. So when people say his betrayal was necessary, it always seems like they completely ignore his fever and his happiness at the tea shop. Like it was just a random fluke or something and not a real indication that he had changed. Or they would dismiss it, and call it disingenuous, like you have mentioned. Nobody would ever really offer a good explanation for it from a narrative standpoint when they defend Zuko’s betrayal. Like why a fever of all things? It seems so random if you don’t know what was going on. Since I have read so much about kundalini awakenings, I honestly was surprised by many people’s interpretations of Zuko’s character development during the end of Book 2 and how easily they justify his decision to turn on his uncle and go back to his father.

I was also surprised so many people did not see it as a spiritual awakening, to be honest. The show never outright states it, but there were a lot of clues to imply this. I guess this is attributable to his characterization in Book 3, which really does a poor job showing someone who has had an awakening. Because of these contradictions, it makes sense that a lot of people would not see it that way. His behavior is so different afterwards and like you said, the fever is never mentioned again. I am sure Bryke wanted to drop this concept because it is incompatible with Zuko “going bad”. But the nightmares, the hallucinations, the fever; all of that is so drastic and an obvious indication that he was experiencing something extraordinary within himself. Iroh said it was not a natural sickness, and that he was going through a metamorphosis and then afterwards he is very happy, like a brand new person. This is after releasing the Avatar’s bison. I cannot understand how anyone thought that was disingenuous or that he was still obsessed with his honor. There was nothing to indicate that to me. It was SO genuine, which is why I thought him turning on his uncle immediately afterwards so implausible.

And Zuko experiencing a spiritual awakening was not just my interpretation, either. That is official canon. This is the episode description for The Earth King from the official Nickelodeon website:

The kids battle Long Feng the Dai Li when they attempt to show the Earth King the vast conspiracy taking place in his city. Zuko becomes seriously ill and has feverish dreams as he faces a spiritual crisis.

What he experienced was a spontaneous kundalini awakening. It was unquestionably the authorial intent to portray this phenomenon. A kundalini awakening is not something a lot of people have heard of, since it is really only discussed much in esoteric literature. But the show was trying to give visual cues, and depict this in a manner that the average viewer would be able to pick up on. So it makes sense that after Bryke write him going dark immediately afterward, there would be confusion about what was going on with him. I cannot understand why anyone in their right mind would write a character experiencing a full-blown kundalini awakening, and then want to write them going bad immediately after. That is ludicrous. The fact that Aaron Ehasz wrote an episode called The Awakening, and also had Zuko mention how much he has changed before Mai dismisses him, proves to me that he had a much MUCH different vision for Zuko’s character in Book 3 than Bryke did. Zuko acts SO much differently in The Awakening compared to episodes like The Headband or The Beach. There was undoubtedly a change of plans for his character arc very early on in Book 3.

I will use the descriptions from this website:

What is a Kundalini Awakening?

A full Kundalini Awakening is a specific energetic experience that means all of the knots and issues of the psyche have been resolved. It’s extraordinarily rare. Most people who experience some type of energetic experience are not experiencing a full awakening, but the beginnings of the movement of Kundalini in the body.

People can have an energy shift that awakens level of perceptions that activate the chakras for awhile. They can move into some strange modes of behaviour. The real full-on Kundalini Awakening experience is a surge of energy coming from mulhadara up the back of the spine, over the top of the head and culminating in the forehead. The whole system has awakened.

Regardless, Kundalini Awakening – whether a full experience or the beginnings of movement – is the awakening of Kundalini energy, which resides at the base of the spine. The energy begins to move up the spine in some way, shape or form.

This awakening of energy has nothing to do with a person’s culture, religion, or country of origin. While the experience is generally described in yogic texts, it’s also known of and referred to in other spiritual traditions. It is the natural evolution of the human being, awakening to higher levels of consciousness.

What are the benefits of a Kundalini Awakening?

When Kundalini awakens, a person may experience deeper empathy with others, and this empathy can almost become telepathic. There is greater sensitivity, higher energy levels, sometimes psychic abilities or deep knowing, ageing can appear to slow down, creativity and charisma can increase, as can internal peace and knowing. There is a sense of being part of All that Is. The greater mysteries of life are no longer mysteries.

Going Down With The New Kid

the supercorp/sanvers highschool au nobody asked for ever

Pairing: Lena/Kara Alex/Maggie
Words: 2,663
Summary:  The infamous New Girl- the one who was supposedly kicked out of her old school for doing something terrible- ends up not only resembling that of a Disney princess, she also ends up being Lena Luthor’s brand new friend, sort of. (Even if they were both kind of forced into it.)

When the rumors began about the incoming student, and how she’d supposedly gotten kicked out of her last school, Lena wasn’t exactly sure what she was expecting when she was informed that she’d have to show the new student around, but she did know that the doe-eyed blonde behind square glasses certainly wasn’t it.

There are a lot of deaf Crutchie or deaf Jack stuff going around, but what about deaf Spot? Or just hard of hearing?

  • Spot lost most of his hearing when he was three and he got really sick
  • His parents have always been extremely protective of him and while he appreciates it it also sometimes drives him crazy
  • he has hearing aides in both ears and for a while they were really subtle but eventually he hits his rebellious phase and decides his rebellion is going to be getting brightly colored caps for his new hearing aides and dying his hair to match whatever caps he has on
  • his favorites are bright blue and bright red
  • his parents couldn’t care less about the hearing aides, but they’re not so much a fan of the hair.
  • he knows sign language and one of his favorite things about going to college is that he makes friends with the boys and since Specs can’t hear at all they all learn sign and so he doesn’t have to wear his hearing aides all the time
  • he started taekwondo when he was twelve and was pretty good, and he didn’t wear his hearing aides while fighting in competitions so he never heard the insults the other kids tried to use and it frustrated them
  • one of his favorite petty pleasures is talking ridiculously slowly whenever somebody does the same to him and people are always like “I’m sorry, why are you talking so slowly?” and his response is “You were, so I thought it would be polite to follow suite.”
  • then watch them struggle to justify themself without backing themself into the corner of having to admit they’d been talking slowly because they knew he was HoH.
  • He also enjoys turning off his hearing aides when talking to an idiot and telling them he can’t hear them
  • when he becomes a lawyer he stops dying his hair and mostly sticks with his black caps
  • one time he lost one of his black caps and it was either match with a bright color or mismatch with one bright color and one black and he ended up going into work with two bright red caps and while not many people really noticed it felt weird to be in a professional environment with something he’d associated with his rebellious phase
  • he hates being snuck up on and sometimes when he’s not wearing his hearing aides he’ll sit in a corner so nobody can
  • his favorite thing is waking up in the morning when it’s almost perfectly silent for him and Race is still sleeping and the light is soft and everything seems perfect
  • his least favorite sound is sirens because they’re so loud and obnoxious and if they’re too close they make his hearing aides give horrible feedback
  • his favorite sound is classical music, specifically violins and piano
  • he tends to sign whatever he’s saying, even when talking to hearing people, because it help him organize his thought when he can see them
thinking about Lup and Taako

so it was a little jarring in the latest episode when Lup and Taako had such a clear difference in morals, and i’ve already seen people talk about why Lup must have such strong morals. Without them, she is nothing more than a weapon of destruction. Lup wants to be a good person, and i think that says a lot about who she is. She’s a hell raiser, and petty, and sly, just like Taako, but Taako is far more willing to commit awful acts without a second thought. For Taako, the ends justify the means. For Lup, the end will never be worth the means.

If the Hunger kills a plane, then the Hunger did it and can be blamed for it. But If the crew kills a plane, then they have become just what the Hunger is, but worse. Because they had a choice not to.

However, I’m thinking of looking more at the dynamic between Taako and Lup. It’s pretty obvious that Justin immediately wanted to heavily incorporate Lup into who Taako is. If Taako is doing something, Justin almost automatically includes Lup in doing something too. In the past two episodes, Taako has shown to admire Lup and even follow her example when his gut reaction was something different. When Taako suggested they flip the kill switch on the plane, Taako (and Justin) clearly expected her to agree. Lup doesn’t, however, and instead the siblings argue for a bit about it, Taako playing devil’s advocate and Lup straightforward in her role as the Good Bean. In the end though, Taako says he’ll “do whatever Lup is gonna do.” Which really struck me. Griffin has repeatedly had Lup go off to do other things rather than stay with Taako, which, well seeming obvious- Lup should have interactions with all the characters optimally, not just her brother- seems to be skewing their relationship.

Taako looks up to and follows Lup, but Lup doesn’t seem to reflect that back. That might just be an inadvertent effect of Griffin trying to spread people out, but Taako consistently suggests for Lup to do something with him with her ending up doing something else entirely. I’m definitely not trying to say they have an unhealthy relationship. I think Lup and Taako love each other a lot. I do think the fight in this episode was caused by Justin trying to run things like the Taaco norm- don’t think about consequences, just be a dumbass- while not knowing enough about Lup.

The idea of Taako idolizing Lup could say something about who he is after Lup is gone. Maybe he’s still trying to emulate her without even realizing it. All we can wish for is that Taako gets a gun too, i suppose

However their relationship develops, i hope we get to see even more of them. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Review of 13x19 “What’s Inside?”

When I first watched the episode, my initial reaction was that it was so awful I didn’t need to write a review. But then I thought that maybe the fact that it was so awful was something I needed to write about. There is a lot to be said about the choices the show isn’t making, so this review really focuses on that.

I get the opening scene completely. As I said in my 13x18 review, this episode is about Maggie accepting her mother’s death, so opening with her visiting her mother’s grave makes sense. Now I don’t think this story should have been the one driving the episode, but here we are anyway. As much as I expected a scene with Maggie at her mom’s grave, I was distracted during most of it. I had to watch it twice just to tell you what Mer and Amelia were saying to each other. And the thing that distracted me has been distracting me for a while – Mer’s clothes. For the most part, I think the wardrobe department is fantastic, especially with the women. Each woman has a specific style to their clothing outside of the hospital that reflects their personality well. Even in this scene, Amelia’s leather jacket is a great call back to her edgier Private Practice days. It was a great clothing choice. But it makes the poor clothing choice for Mer even more obvious. Mer’s style is slowing becoming, “Well it looks clean, so I guess I’ll wear it.” And that would maybe be understandable if she was sporting the tired mom look, but since her kids have been in the basement since season eleven, it’s strange. And on top of that this is the second episode of the last three where someone has called Mer hot, so they clearly want to send a message about her appearance to the audience. It’s all very strange.

Eliza, Arizona, and Riggs – For a character that was the catalyst for one of the only story lines the show chose to focus on this season, Minnick has been curiously absent from our screens. I have to think the show got the hint that the fans were not going to be told who to like and decided to pull back a bit. The audience screaming “No!” at Paleyfest when Arizona and Eliza were mentioned had to have grabbed their attention at least a little. Arizona says to Riggs, “It’s just that people are so full of opinions about Eliza…” and I don’t think that was completely about the characters.  It feels like Arizona is justifying to the audience why it’s okay for her to be with Eliza. “I’m recently divorced.” (Recent? Define recent because people have had babies and completed cancer trials since your “recent” divorce. Is this another Grey’s timeline black hole?)

Owen and Amelia – Oh look, Owen’s Army friends are happily married and expecting a baby. Good. We haven’t dangled Owen’s dreams in his face in a couple of minutes. Let’s do that again.

April, Steph, Cross – I am so happy to see April back. April/Sarah really does bring a much needed light to the show. It’s not the same without her. I get that this story was supposed to bring the comedy to balance the seriousness of Maggie’s surgery, but it ended up stealing the show. These three do comedy so well. Too bad we won’t see it more often.

Mer and Alex – I just can’t. I need Alex to do something other than prop up Meredith. Even if they want to ignore Jolex, give him anything else to do but that. Please. And this Mer and Riggs will they/won’t they go on a date is not suspenseful. You had sex with him in your car in the parking lot at work, Mer. I think you can eat a meal with him. The audience isn’t feeling a build-up. If anything, we are losing interest and hoping Riggs runs in the other direction.

Bailey and Webber – I almost forgot they were in the episode. When Shonda said this season would focus on the originals I expected great storylines for Bailey and Webber. Instead we got the equivalent of them fighting over Bailey choosing a new friend to do her school project with. They deserved better, but that could be said for most of the characters, so I will just be happy with the fact that it seems the Minnick/Webber storyline may be over.

Cross, Steph, Deluca – Jo Adler (Cross) is such an untapped talent. I get serious early George vibes from him and I love it. So we probably won’t see him again until next season.“I have Obamacare. I have a year left, and I…” You know an episode is bad when I say out loud, “I want to see more of Cross.”

Owen, Jackson, Amelia, Mer – I love that Jackson is always eating. I would stress eat if I worked there, too. As frustrating as it is that we have no Japril scenes, we do get an April mention from Jackson, which I think is significant. This happened in 13x05 as well when she had her first day back to work.  They had no scenes together, but he asked about her.  So, at least she’s on his mind? Sigh.  And Jackson telling Mer it’s not normal she operated through a miscarriage was a great moment.  Funny.  Especially since Owen is the one she operated on, and he is sitting right there.

Mer, Amelia, Maggie – I like Maggie. I do. I mean, I generally like everyone, so I don’t know if that means much. But I’m not invested enough in her character to want to watch three episodes in row basically focusing on her. The show really, really wants me to be, but it hasn’t happened yet. Audience connection to characters has to be organic. It can’t be forced, and it’s just not there with Maggie for me.

Maggie operates – And she is absolutely fine. Sigh. I mean I definitely didn’t want anything bad to happen to the baby or mother, but this story was anti-climactic and so many other stories are just sitting, waiting to be told.  If those stories are getting bumped for this one, at least make it amazing.

April, Steph, Deluca, and Cross – Sarah and Jerrika really have a great dynamic onscreen together. I mean Stephanie being Jackson’s rebound sort of cancelled any chance of friendship, but their scenes always catch my attention. I love anytime April is shown as a capable and in control surgeon, so her annoyance at Steph and Deluca was great. Again, these scenes were the best of the show for me.

Mer, Amelia, Maggie - The dance it out scene was inappropriate to me. Shonda puts scenes in like this or a few of them eating lunch together and then tweets, “Oh, it’s just like old Grey’s!” like that will make us forget this season has been a mess.  And dancing it out was a thing reserved for cheating boyfriends or bad days at work, not dead mothers.  Dead mothers deserve a scene where they act like adults who are capable of dealing with their emotions and have a conversation.  But, of course, we don’t get conversations.

Maggie and Jackson - So, I don’t see why people are freaking out.  I just don’t. I’ve tried.  I’ve watched and rewatched and squinted at my screen.  I see nothing.  I mean, yes, they have had more scenes together, but absolutely nothing in those scenes has hinted they would be romantic.  If anything, Jackson literally called her family.  I think what this really is about is the fact that we have had no resolution from Montana so it is easier to see this as a possible reason than to just admit that the continuity and writing have been way off this season.  I really think that since JTS was filmed in November, the show wasn’t sure where it was going in the line up (they have moved two centrics recently) and they just didn’t film anything that would be out of order for Japril.  And let’s be real.  The show knows what they have with Japril.  Just look at the publicity and money that was spent on JTS.  The other centrics have not gotten that kind of treatment.  Jesse and Sarah filmed on location for days with another crew.  That location had to be rented.  They had to pay the Grey’s crew and the other crew at the same time.  And the press?  I read at least ten articles about JTS from entertainment sites.  Jesse and Sarah were sent to the TCAs to promote it.  They did the SAG-AFTRA screening, which is a big deal for the Screen Actors Guild to do something like that.  Jesse was sent to New York to promote the episode on like five shows.  I can’t think of any other time the show has spent the time and money on a single episode like they did for this one.  They aren’t going to throw that away.  And those pics Debbie Allen posted hinting that their last scene of the season is a good one?  That was intentional.  They know that Japril is the biggest couple on the show right now.  If they were to trade that to test a relationship between step-siblings, the audience would run.  Sure there are about five people who would be fine with it (and I am deeply concerned for them…) but overall I think a large portion of their audience would be done.  And that is not to say the show hinges on Japril.  I’m not saying that.  I just think that would be the tipping point where Grey’s has obviously stopped caring about telling good stories and is only trying to be shocking.  As an audience we can only take so much of being ignored.

Speaking of being ignored, my heart goes out to hardcore Jolex shippers. Their story, or lack of, has been one of the main reasons this season has been such a let down. 12x24 set the stage for a great Jolex story, and then nothing. And I get that Camilla is pregnant, and obviously her health and the baby’s health are more important, but they could say something.  Don’t just ignore the fans.  They set up this season to be a look into domestic violence and Jo’s past, and then we get nothing.  If it’s about her pregnancy, just say “Camilla is focusing on her private life right now, so we are pushing the DV story to next season.”  Or something!  It could be done without putting her business out there but still respecting the fans.

I am an optimist, so I still have hope that the last four episodes will bring back the Grey’s we love.  If you made it this far, thanks for reading.  This was a long one.

I had to do after reading the post of @bingsooredbean

First, and as you said, romanticizing is idealizing a character/person/situation. It’s not being able to realistically see how things are. And I can not be content with you for clarifying that point, because people need to know when the figure of the king has romanticized to the extreme of saying that the king is obliged to be nice to all. And that is a tremendous mistake.
The king may be anything we want but not “nice” to everyone,
What kind of king would he be if he were nice even to his enemies and to beings external to his people?

Politics, yes, crude reality. The king must be a good politician, and to the disappointment of many, the political has been detached from the ethical. Then, keep in mind that politics is a science that elaborates state systems for the control of a specific society. Control, exactly. Charioce is an absolutist monarch and besides being cruel, despot king, Charioce is a very controlling man. It’s natural, it’s necessary for his people to see him as a symbol of power, like incarnate power. Machiavelli had said it a long time ago: is it better to be a feared or loved king? Both, fair and graduated, but never a hated king (and that’s why he sought the cooperation of Jeanne).

Does good justify the means? (Although it does not belong to Machiavelli itself), it depends, but a good prince/king should seek the highest good for his people either using means not so “pleasant.” So, that justifies all the evil he has done? I don’t know, but ask to the citizens who benefited of war and enslavement. It’s justified from the fact that the people are grateful to their king for boosting the economy. Sad reality.

So, Charioce has been romanticized? Of course, yes, it’s a character that lends itself to it, i mean, he’s a political figure! Everything he does must have a purpose of supreme good for the whole human race. He has a role as king, a task that I would support. And the animators know about it cos’ they know how to use the frames that speak for him: he always comes out with his head up, looking down and that’s superiority; they have built him in that way.

Was the war against the demons romanticized? Of course, the people like to hear the stories of their valiant warriors taking cities and defeating the cruel enemies (humans or not). For this, the figure of a king must be in the measure of a strong, kind, astute, rich, cult and fearful leader. But let’s leave that aside (’:

The fans have romanticized Charioce? Yes and no, he as such was already romanticized by the context that the screenwriter put him, the support of the Anatae people for their king are valuable clues.

We idealize him? Maybe, in fact, he’s in himself a good king, although that implies being a damn murderer but in turn, he is a young man of 23-4 years who also suffers. And that friends isn’t to idealize, is to be realistic. Charioce is a monarch but also a young man who can suffer, hate, love and fear. It’s not a war machine, not a good man as well, but man after all. The problem is not romanticizing him, it’s how to classify him.

Consider this: a character with dark clearings. (remember the Genesis OP?) Well, If you ask me, the one who designed this character knows what s/he does: a good job, cos’ in itself, Charioce is a character that you hate or love but you can not stop seeing.

Anyways, what’s a Good man? I don’t know what it’s to be a good man. Somebody help me with that >o<
Therefore, we must first check something very important: what does it mean to idealize a king and a war? And above all, what does it mean to be a good man and a good king? It’s obvious that this series has as subplot very political and ethical problems (y eso mola)

Violence is only acceptable when it's self defense! Attacking people unprovoked is NEVER morally justifiable. I don't care how 'racist' or 'transphobic' they are.

I usually just ignore anons like this because other people have explained it better than I can– but the line “I don’t care how ‘racist’ or ‘transphobic’ they are” is such a good summary of classic liberal apathy that I feel like I owe you a response. I’m going to try to be nice.

People with your mindset will say time and time again that the only time violence is acceptable is if your life is on the line, if it’s ‘self defense’– their excuse as to why you can’t incite violence against Nazis. They ignore that, for example, in 2017, 7 trans people have already been murdered.

  • Jaquarrius Holland killed on February 19 in Monroe, Louisiana (identified as trans on February 28). She was 18 years old.
  • Ciara McElveen killed on February 27 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was 21 years old.
  • Chyna Gibson killed on February 25 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was 31 years old.
  • Keke Collier killed on February 21 in Englewood, Chicago. She was 24 years old.
  • JoJo Striker killed on February 8 in Toledo, Ohio. She was 23 years old.
  • Mesha Caldwell killed on January 4 in Canton, Mississippi. She was 41 years old.
  • Jamie Lee Wounded Arrow killed on January 1 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She was 28 years old.

All of these were women of color

So yes, you should care how “racist” or “transphobic” they are, because if you think that this is in any way unrelated to the violently hateful transphobic rhetoric spread by the alt-right, you’re being willfully ignorant, especially after Alt-Right leaders like Milo & Richard Spencer have publicly outed & harassed trans students– routinely.

The alt-right, Breitbart, Stormfront, and, yes, much the GOP, wants Trans people dead. They are actively using the power they now hold to encourage the murder of Trans people.

Violence towards Nazis is self defense.

And I’m not advocating you go out and punch the first nazi you see (although I would certainly support it– hell, I’ll fucking start the gofundme for your bail)–

I’m advocating that you support/donate to programs like Antifa International, and participate in Black Bloc if you’re physically able to. If somebody is violently bigoted around you, make it clear that it is not safe for them. Stand with the people who are enforcing direct action instead of placing yourself above them.

Because odds are the people who you place yourself above are the people who are actually affected by it, rather than, say, straight, white, middle class liberals- who are able to safely look down and feign moral superiority.

i think i've figured out why i'm still a bit wary of how stim/fidget things are being treated as a... "trend", i guess? from fidget kickstarters to spinner "jokes", it's because i feel like nd people take a backseat to literally all of it. we may be mentioned in the advertising as "good for people with adhd/autism" etc. amongst keywords to bring people to the page, but after that nobody really mentions us. is it reasonable for me to still be wary even though it makes things more accessable?

Anon, you don’t have to justify your feelings. Feelings don’t have to be reasonable. They’re feelings. We don’t have a lot of control over them most of the time (if at all), and while sometimes research and discussion can influence how we feel about something, sometimes all the thought in the world won’t change the fact that something makes us uncomfortable or unhappy. It doesn’t have to be rational or logical. It’s how you feel.

(Feeling something isn’t wrong. How we respond to those feelings can be, and what actions we take based on those feelings can also be wrong, but the simple act of feeling isn’t wrong. It just isn’t.)

Furthermore, this isn’t a simple situation. This isn’t a case where we should be all celebrating the newfound access to stim toys and showing the negatives down into some dark corner. This is a case where the positives (increased access) come with significant negatives that aren’t just the problem of mass-banning toys from classrooms. This is a case where those negatives need discussion, too, because this is a complicated situation that isn’t going away, and it’s going to provoke a lot of feeling.

(I only dislike the “I hate those NTs that use stim toys wrong and get them banned from the classroom” posts. Posts that ignore the real problem being the education system, posts that forget we ND folk can also be disruptive in how we stim, posts that forget some of those annoying NT folks are actually undiagnosed ND people. Posts that try to simplify a complex situation by giving us an easy villain to hate, something I know that alienates ND folks, especially people with anxiety, from stimming. I dislike those; I’d put them in the category of being a less-than-good response to feelings of valid frustration and anger. But your ask, anon, is not one of those posts.)

The sheer amount of new fidget toys now available is overwhelming. New toys are invented every week, or so it seems, and a day or two after that there’s knock-offs on eBay, Banggood and Wish. It’s hard to keep up with it all. I went from struggling to find anything here to going into my local dollar shop and seeing twenty different types of spinners, fidget cubes, fidget pads and fidget sticks. It’s dizzying.

Now, of course, there’s the articles flooding the internet. Spinners have become a meme, a talking point. There’s pages and videos about tricks made with toys. There’s jokes mocking this fad, as though spinners are an item of clothing that’s in fashion. Our tools, our needs and our culture have become a joke, and that’s not just alienating or erasing - that’s ableist. It’s not wrong to be wary about someone else’s ableism!

Anon, I agree with you. I don’t wish to police who stims or can use the language of stimming, but I still feel that our culture has been yanked from our hands. Objects that were for us and about us now give us that cursory mention, but the growing culture around them, save in ND-specific corners of the internet, excludes us. Part of the reason I personally don’t mind NT folk using the word “stim” is because I want them engaged with us. I want them to know who stim toys are for and why they’re important. I want them to use our words, to read our blogs, to respect our communities, to remember us in conversations on stim toys.

(I believe this will also have downsides, though, and it might prove to be the wrong way to go entirely. It’s hard to know what the best solution might be, and chances are great that there are no perfect ones.)

Accessibility is great, but we can and should talk about how a consequence of that accessibility is our own absence in dialogue about stim toys and stimming. Even if we find no solutions, anon, we know we’re not alone in what we feel, and that is so important. We shouldn’t have to feel alone.

Anon, I am with you on this.

There’s nothing unreasonable about being wary of this situation. Nothing.

F(r)itz is a Romantic: AOS Meta

Me? Write too much meta for my own good? Surprisingly, this actually hasn’t happened in a while but I & my internal political philosopher got really excited so here we are.

Now, I would LOVE to talk about all of Fitz’s many many Romantic traits and examples of them but for now I’m just gonna focus on Fritz because well, you’ve gotta start somewhere and I don’t have all year. (Although, asks are welcome). This is based on what Aida said about Fitz being a romantic, but expanding beyond the idea of grand romantic love, and into other aspects of Romanticism that Fitz and Fritz also display and how, as Aida said, no matter what the circumstances his “true nature” keeps peeking through.

TW: I should mention that this meta contains references to abuse, and some elements of how the Hydra regime works, which obviously parallels Nazism.

Because it’s hella long and therefore, going below the cut, the elements of Romanticism I will discuss are:

  1. Love & Grand Gestures
  2. Freedom & the Individual
  3. Emotions, Passion, Intuition over Hard Science
  4. Heroism

…and how Fitz & Fritz show these traits or values, and how they’re gonna be what breaks him out and bites Aida in the behind. Enjoy!
